Happy last Friday in August!  I’m secretly hoping at soon as September gets here that the temperature will drop at least 15 degrees.   I’ts a silly hope, I know, but the grocery stores are also hoping for that as the ads starting on Sunday are all featuring Pumpkins…

This week we made it out to Publix for meat and milk.  We really didn’t need anything else.

Total before sales: $45.61
Total Spent: $28.19
Total Saved: $17.42 or 38%

Total before sales: $19.85
Total Spent: $6.49
Total Saved: $13.36 or 67%

I also got some more crayons and other back to school deals at Kroger before they take them off sale.  We have a big Operation Christmas Child box goal this year and the 39¢ Crayola Crayons fit into that beautifully!

How did you do this week?  Leave a comment or a link to your savings post.

    • I am hoping the temp drops like that as well. We lost our A/C and are not going to replace it just to get through the rest of the season.

Also praying for those in the path of Hurricane Irene. I hope the weather folks don’t know what they’re talking about.

I’ve only been coupling for 3 weeks and am still trying to grow my coupon collection. It’s very limited at this point, but I think I did great at WalMart today:
      1 Dial lotion .97 used $1 off= +.03 profit
      16 Baby animal bottles (donating to shelter) $1.27 Each used (8) $3 off 2 = +$3.68 profit
      2 organic carrots $.82 each. Used (2) $1 off = $.36 profit (husband bought 1 separately )
2 Dannon Greek Yougurt $1 each.  Used (2) for free promo coupons = $0.00
      Total Profit so far: $4.07.
Used profit to buy husbands Edge Shave Gel and pay part of taxes.
OOP today: $0.94 best I’ve ever done!
      That’s : $29.70 value, $28.76 saved, 96.83% saved!
Not bad for a 3 Week Couponer Huh?

    • Two trips to Publix this week and saved 50%+ off each trip, my favorite purchases included 2 bags of Tyson Chicken Nuggets that were $2 a bag (bogo plus $.50 q from Target for each), 2 KC Masterpiece BBQ sauce bottles that were free ($.50 printable for each bottle that doubled) (that was one trip), then today I got 3 capri sun Roarin’ Waters for $1.12 each (printable manufacturer coupon for $1 off 3 and a mailed coupon from Winn Dixie-$1.00 off- stacked nicely, Score!) and I got two Kashi cereals for $2.50 total (used the Recyclebank coupon for $2.00 off and the coupon that came with the free Kashi cereal sample that was $1.50 off)

I went to Publix last night. Spent $54 & saved $37, about 40% savings. That isn’t bad when you consider I bought one of those family combo meals which was $10.69 – too tired to cook & my fiance has been wanting fried chicken so that was a win-win. LOL That also included a free whole chicken and 2 bags of free salad mix.
I went back to Publix on my lunch break. Managed to get the last 2 boxes of advil on the shelf. The store paid me $0.02 for those. :) I got lucky because they didn’t have anymore green advantage buy flyers but when I asked customer service, they said they had them at the registers & to ask them to use the coupon and they would take if off my total. That’s all I got during that trip so the store paying me was great & a first for me.

I just got back from Publix and this is one of my best outings yet, if not the best.  Total before coupons, special price savings, etc. was $50.37 and total out of pocket was $2.39.  I got 4 boxes of Cheerios, 3 cans of Old El Paso enchilada sauce, 4 packages of Keebler cookies, 4 boxes of Ritz crackers, 2 boxes of granola bars and 1 bag of tortilla chips.  I had a $5 off $30 coupon from Winn Dixie, 4-$2 Cheerios Publix coupons, 2-$1 off 2 Cheerios manu (made them a $2 money-maker), 3-50 cents off Old El Paso manu, 2-$1 off 2 Keebler manu, 1 B3G1 free Target Keebler, 2-75 cents off 2 Nabisco manu, 1 B3G1 free Target Nabisco, a $2 off 2 peelie for the granola bars that I found in store.  The tortilla chips were $2 and the only thing I got without a coupon.

Well I was so excited I forgot to take a picture but I made out with $189.02 worth for $57.57. WooooHoooo!

    • I thought I did pretty good at CVS this week .. until I saw some of these other posts. I got a Schick Hydro razor, Bengay, Revlon lip stain, Revlon liquid lipstick, big bag of Lifesaver gummies, big bag of Starburst, and a Conair 1875 Hair Dryer. Total before savings $55.35. I spent $13.44 OOP, saved $41.91 and still have $5 ECB to spend next week. 85% savings!

      • Then I would say you did VERY good!! You are above Jenny’s saving goal for people who take the workshop (50-75%) so: GOOD JOB!!! :D

        • I guess I’m just being hard on myself because I spent a lot more on groceries at Ingles and Bi Lo than I normally do. I got $158.51 worth for $60.25 at Publix, Ingles, Bilo, and CVS total and I also spent like $18 at Aldi and this is WAY over our budget but we got a ton of food. Hopefully I can get buy spending like $10 a week for a while.

          • Again I’m going to say it: GOOD JOB!!!!!!!!! :D You saved almost $100 on your groceries (all stores total)! You only spent $60.25 on what would’ve cost $158.51! You saved over 50%!! Again you are above Jenny’s savings goal for people. :D AND you got a TON of food! For the next few weeks there may be weeks where you don’t even NEED to go grocery shopping. (Though in those weeks I’d still recommend picking up the freebies. No sense missing out on those lol!) So STOP being so hard on yourself, ok? :D

I went hunting for a great deal on All You magazines.  I found that with Magazines.com that a 2 year subscription is only $1.41 per issue.  Thought I did pretty good.  Also was able to score my paper for $1 an issue with home delivery for 6 months for two papers ($1 each).

My first REAL shopping trip today was to Publix, I think I did okay.  I spent $19.06 and saved $33.  I need to become that lady that spends like $20 and saves over $100. : )  working towards it. : )

    • I went to Bi-Lo Thursday.
My subtotal before any savings: $77.56.
      My total savings: $57.72.
      My subtotal after savings: $19.84
      My total after tax: 20.83

      I also earned $0.15 off/gal of gas in/with fuelperks!

This included 6 packs of Trident Vitality gum, the Laundry deal, 3 Kemps frozen yogurts, 2 X-14 toilet bowl cleaner, 3 packs of Carolina pride jumbo franks, 5 packs of Carolina Pride lunch meat.

I also went to Walmart and got 4 Cascade Complete Action paks 3ct and a $20 walmart gift card for $19.88 before tax!

The best part was that the dawn was supposed to be 99 cents with the in ad coupon but 2 of the bottles I got were on sale before coupon for 50 cents and I had 50 cent coupons!!!!!

Thanks for the reminder about scouting out back to school sales for Operation Christmas Child shoe box gifts.  Even though shoe box collection week is a few months away, I always try to remember to scout out deals around this time too.  Its a great way to stock up on items to put in the shoe box while not braking the bank!
