Since this is 9/11, and I can’t say the date or write it without strong memories flooding in, I wanted to say thank you to everyone that has, or is now helping to keep this country safe.  Thanks also to the wives/husbands and families that let them serve.

Now that I have tears in my eyes, our savings this week:

I had plans to go shopping without kids Monday but it really turned into the whole family goes shopping.  Therefore I have no picture, my husband is not a fan of unloading groceries and taking pictures.  Sorry.  We did have a good trip and got some great deals.

Total before sales and coupons: $76.08
Total Spent: $38.76
Total Saved: $37.32 or 49.1%

We got 16 lbs of Boston Butt, 6 lbs of Ground Beef, Banana’s, Grapes, Rice and BBQ Sauce.  It’s always great to get mostly meat and produce and still save almost 50%!

Total Before Sales and Coupons: $64.56
Total Spent: $29.12
Total Saved: $34.55 or 53.5%

We got 15 cans soup, 5 goldfish snacks, 4 boxes of cereal, 1 bag of snack pack raisins, and some beer.  (I did mention before that my husband was shopping too…)

I had grand hopes of making it to CVS but we had family in town and time got away from me Saturday night.  I did go and get rain checks for everything though, so next week I can get everything and not fight anyone for it!

I am new to coupons. This is my 2nd week of following this site. Last week I bought $256.18 used this sites ideas and coupons, so I spaent $113.38 which means I saved $142.80. Jenny had it figured for a little more savings but I didn’t follow instructions properly. So this week I went and had a GREAT cashier. When I looked at my list and said I thought it was less she canceled the transaction and redid it. It was less but not as cheap Jenny’s posted OOPS. I know I did it wrong. But still a good week for me, product total $65.76 amount spent $13.57 that means I saved $52.19. Thanks for all the help. And thanks to my CVS cashier, who was so impressed with what I saved she took the site info to do her shopping list………….

Thanks Jenny and all of you who post options to help all of us…..

I’m happy for you, Syndi. Cashiers like that make all the difference, especially when you’re just starting out, and possibly a little uneasy.

I spent what felt like a lot this week, and had a different objectives in my shopping than you did, Jenny. I’ve cooked my share of Boston blank lately.

      Before Savings $10
      Spent – $6.5
      Savings – $3.5

Milk, grapes, 3 cans specialty veggies

      Food Lion
      Spent (no savings) $2.25

Large pack of beef kidney and fresh rhubarb – Simply a good price on two things that I wanted. The payoff was the curious looks from cashiers wondering what one does with those.

Publix – This is where I emptied my wallet.
Before savings – $408 (at least)
      Spent – $79 (at least)
      Saved – $329 (at least)

This was 5 lbs bananas, 4 bags fresh spinach, bagged apples, tomatoes, a lot of Brussel sprouts, asparagus, strawberries, pile of pancakes (raincheck), more bbq sauce to give away, salad dressing, 6 Hormel pork loins, 2 packs ribs, several pks pork chops, lots of rib eyes and sirloin strips, PAM, straws, several pks Boca burgers, 2 pks flat bread, 2 apple pies, multi-grain bakery bread, baked potato salad (YUM!), 4 American cheese, 2 bags tortilla chips, 3 bags bagels, 3 cream cheese, 14 boxes cake mix, 2 boxes brownie mix, enough charcoal to get the scout troop through their next few trips.

I said, “at least” because I’m pretty sure I made at least one more very small trip, but don’t see the receipt. The pork loins were store special of $6. I had some $6 off pork WYB charcoal and one other product q’s left, and lots of .35/1 bbq sauce peelies from when I bought a large supply at Bi-Lo this summer, AND I had a good supply of $2 off meat WYB 2 Kraft from a tear pad. The combo made it an exceptionally good week to shop at Publix. We also would have done better if I hadn’t misread the Hormel q. I thought it said $3/any product…etc., but it actually said producE. If I’d read it properly, I wouldn’t have bought produce the previous day, just gotten it when I bought the marinated pork loins. Also, I only bought the chops because I thought the $3 was off the pork loin and didn’t want to present 2 q’s for the same item. I would have skipped those chops and gotten more rib eyes, instead.

Oh, well. We usually only have steak once or twice a year. Just being able to afford to buy some this week made it a wonderful shopping week.

      Before savings – $21
      Spent – $0
      Savings – $21

I LOVE those 100% savings trips! It was just Hefty storage bags. I’ve had those $1/1 q’s for so long that I expected them to expire before I found any bags in stock at a the right price. I’m really glad, because I NEEDED these. 2 boxes of qts, and 6 of gallon bags won’t last long here. There are only 13 gal. bags in each box.

      Grand total spent – $87.75
      Pre-savings – $441.25
      Savings – $354.50

Now I need some super deals on TP, flour, GoodNites, and chocolate chips.

Also shopped clearance at Target and got the grandkiddos inflatable pools and toys for next summer at 75% off. That brought my actual total for the week to a nice round $100.

      Mina, I’m so impressed!

I went to Bi-lo and got $123.50 worth of grocerys for $46. That includes roasts, pizza and laundry soap among other things. Not as good as some here, but the hub’s was impressed and happy. He laughs at my “little game” as he likes to call it. He’s even more happy with the amount I’m able to put in our savings account.

      Thanks, Jenny, for this site!

    • Cori

Thanks Jenny, because of you my totals were great this week.
