Office Max Deals

  • Brother Laser HL-2240, $59.99
(this is my favorite Laser printer for printing coupons. $49.99 is the best price, but I haven’t seen it for that in a while)
    • sharon

Jenny, why is the brother your favorite printer for coupons? I have to buy more HP ink for mine and the cost is the same for a new  Brother printer. Would I save by purchasing a new printer instead? what is the cost of replacement ink for the Brother?

      • Hartensteincoupons

I got a continuous ink system for like $50 from CISinks online and it works GREAT for my brother printer! Otherwise there is no way that printing would be cost effective.

        • Sharon

I’ve been using a CIS and an Epson R280 printer for about 3 years now.  I would shout it from the roof tops if I could.  I’ve spent about 100$ in the whole set up and ink for 3 years- and I print massive amounts of coupons and stuff for homeschooling.  I can’t believe these haven’t caught on better.

          • Anonymous

What is CIS?  Please can you give me more detailed information or tell me where I can read it….I have no idea what it is/how it works/etc.   If it’s great, and saves money, I would really like to know.

            • Sharon

Just google continuous ink supply or continuous ink system.  Lots of great information.  I could list a ton of links.  I got ours from a specific dealer on ebay- great equipment.  You have to have certain kinds of printers- not just any one.  I can send you lots of great info if you can send an email address.  I don’t sell them or get any kind of kick- back.  Just too much info to list here.  The jest is- your actual cartridge is hooked up to IV- like tubes that run to big bottles full of ink siting next to your printer.  The cartridge pulls the ink through the tubes as it needs it from the bottles.  I pour (no using syringes to refill sponges in the cartridge) ink into the bottles about 1x a year.  And that’s it.  See, wish I could shout from the roof tops!  Spent about 50$ on the set up and got about a year’s worth of ink.  And I buy maybe 25$ a year in bulk ink bottles.

The Brother Laser Printers are awesome! I have one but I don’t know what model. My dad bought it for me for nursing school. I was printing 50-100 pages a week for two years and I’ve been printing coupons on it for over 2 months on it now that I’ve graduated. I have only gone through the ink cartridge that came with it and one replacement in the two and a half years I’ve had it. And trust me I was printing A LOT! The toner for the printer is around $75 dollars but you can print at least 1500-2500 pages on the cartridge depending on what your printing. Maybe even more!

      • Megan

I don’t have a Brother but I have an older HP 3030 printer that I LOVE.  It is a 4 in 1 Laser Black and White only.  I go through maybe 3 (at max) toner cartridges a year and I buy them on ebay.  I don’t buy the HP, I buy a knock off brand but they work just as well….I print *MOST* of my coupons so this helps financially!

Sharon, I took Jenny’s advice last March and bought a Brother printer – Office Depot on sale for $60 – $10 coupon = $50.  The toner cartridge that came with it lasted 6 months and I recently got a double cartridge from Office Depot w/another $10 coupon = $50.  Before that I was going through a cartridge of HP ink for my deskjet every month!

      • We have had this Brother laser printer for a few years now (previously was the 2140 and they just renamed it).  The toner it comes with will print 600-700 sheets and then I get a replacement high yield cartridge that prints 1500-2000 sheets and only costs $20.  Needless to say we might refill it once a year.  It’s been awesome.

        • Amber

I think the one I have is the 2140. And please tell me where your getting your toner so cheap cuz the cheapest I have found is 50

        • Chiefsangeleyes

Jenny, I’ve had great luck finding the replacement cartridges on amazon for around $13 :)

        • dina

One other question: Is it wireless capable? Or does anyone know of an accessory to make it so?

      • Pinkchick82686

Have you tried buying the ink and refilling them yourselfes.  We went to sams to get ink for our Epson and realized a new wifi hp was cheaper than the ink so then i did some research and we just bought tube of the ink and you just squirt it in the top when ink is low.  i print constantly, and i am only halfway through 12 worth of ink, that was 6 mos ago.

      • Chiefsangeleyes

Sharon, I bought this printer over a year ago..the one jenny’s recommending. Thinking if it was crap, I only paid $49.99. Let me tell you, I am an avid couponer and it took me well over 6 months to use the entire “starter” cartridge it comes with. The replacement toner is just $12 on amazon and it’s been over a year and we’re still going strong.
        I HIGHLY recommend this printer.
        Easy to set up!

      • TLF

I read a blog site somewhere that had very helpful info.  You need to use a marker or electrical tape (black) to cover little windows or eyes or something.  Then your ink will last for years.  If you don’t do this,  your printer will stop working and tell you that you have to replace the ink WAY BEFORE the ink is really used up.  They do this in order to get more money out of you. But you can beat the system.

There is a $5 off $25 Q for staples good thru Monday.

      • J13h22

Where did you get the coupon? Thanks

    • Darla

If I buy a case of paper and use the Staples $5 off $25 coupon, will I still get $38 back in rewards?

    • Darla

If I buy a case of paper and use the Staples $5 off $25 coupon, will I still get $38 back in rewards?

      • Angela

You will probably only get what you paid after coupon.  That has happened to me before~!

    • Tubbsbaby

I have to say this. I just bought a “new” Brother laser printer 3 months ago on craigslist for $10. I have plenty of ink and the refills are only $40. I wont need that for months! I was spending $20 a month on ink sometimes $40 because I print out homeschool things too. I LOVE LASER PRINTERS!

    • J13h22

Do you get the rebate forms at the store? or on the product websites? Sorry never couponed at Office Depot….

    • dina

I never thought about converting my rewards into real money through the rebates. Thank you! And I guess if you don’t want the program you could always take it to a used book store or ebay.
Also I’ve been thinking of investing in a laser printer, and it just so happens I just got an email that I have $75 in MaxPerks available!

    • I cannot get my canon printer to print coupons   I get the msg Canon UFR Printer driver key value specified does not exist 15512    Anyone know what this means?

    • RhondaB

I went to Office Depot and asked if they price matched Office Max.  YES!  I got the Brother HL2240 for 59.99 – plus I had $10 off $50 for Office Depot from my Key Ring App!  So I got it for $49.99!  Just printed my first coupon!  Easy set up!  WOOHOO!  Thank you Jenny!

      • Renee

Hi Rhonda, is this usable just from the key fob or would I have to do something different to get the $10 off???  Thanks

    • marie

Thank you jenny that was a great tip on the printer. I got one thank the lord.

    • Mamachapman

On the rebates that have the (2) next to the rebate, where do you find the second one–there is only one on the site where you purchase it and it is not the full amount of the rebate shown here..any help is appreciated.
