A thought… You will not get much closer to free, so if you don’t need, like or want this item, then give it away. There are many folks that would probably love it!

Sorry to sound so “dense”…but is the penny item in the Publix paper or the newspaper for Wed/Thur? I'm still learning where and when to find all these coupons. Taking babysteps, I've already saved a good bit and am looking to save even more!

      • Sheila

The coupon is printed somewhere inside the pages of the newspaper. The location varies according to your city and my local paper moves it around from week to week. In my paper, it's a black-and-white coupon so sometimes I have to look through the paper twice to find it — it seems to hide among the regular ads and articles (but that may just be my old eyes!).

And remember that not all areas participate in the penny item – For example: Dothan, AL stores and Florida stores do not participate, so you may want to make sure your store is in an area that participates before you scour the paper. Also, some stores do not require the actual coupon (mine does not)

Thank you! My store (in Meridianville al) does participate and even sometimes will put the penny item on special display; I don't think I *have* to have the Q (will have to double check last weeks rect), but wanted to know for future ref… :>

In Atlanta the Q is on page 2 of the living section on Thursday, and you pretty much need to have it to get the deal. One time mine flew away in the parking lot and they gave it to me anyway, but they are pretty tough on that! Around me there is always a special display – usually near the front door if it doesn't need to be kept cold.

Has anyone seen if Ro-Tel is B1G1 this week as an unadvertised deal? I have no reason to go into Publix this week other than Doritos and I'm probably not even gonna go for that…don't need 'em!

    • Kriss

That sounds much yummier than my penny item in Chattanooga. A little can of mandarin oranges.

      • Beth

Oh, hahaha, makes me even more glad that I didn't need anything today!

I shop at Publix/Thornblade in Greenville,SC. Almost every week the penny item is sold out by noon. (Is this the manager' fault of what?).) For three of the past four weeks they offer Publix oatmeal as the penny item. As this rate I'll be setting up a stand on a corner in town and give away oatmeal…..

I wouldn't say its the manager fault. Its like a door buster item/ loss leader. They give it for penny to get you in the store. They only get enough for some people but not everyone. I think of it as like going to Rite aid Sunday morning.
