The Mystery Penny Item at Publix for Wednesday 2/24 or Thursday 2/25, is:

Publix Toilet Paper 4pk

You can get the Publix Penny item with any purchase that is $10 or more before coupons. There is a Mystery Penny Item coupon in the Wednesday or Thursday Paper every week . Some stores do not require this coupon, but many have changed and do require it now, check with your store to find their policy.

The Penny Item is now for one day only, and will be the day that the add starts in your area. This is Wednesday for all of SC and AL, and parts of GA, or Thursday for Northern GA.

Get all of this weeks Publix Deals and Coupon Matches! There is also a  Yellow Advantage Buy Flyer and a fairly new Green Advantage Buy (ends this Friday) with lots of other deals!.

**Note: FL and Coastal GA stores DO NOT participate in the Penny Item**

A thought… You will not get much closer to free, so if you don’t need, like or want this item, then give it away. There are many folks that would probably love it!

    • tracy hall

If anyone has a HG HILLS near them I just wanted to let everyone know in their ad this week they have Purex on sale for 1.99. With the B1G1 coupon from last Sunday's Smartsource insert it makes it a $1 each.

      • sbdugger

I did this this morning and got 2 bottles of the Purex det. HE for $4. Also, the Hill's circular has q's for free pasta when you buy 2 Ragu or Bertolli sauces. With the B1G1 on Ragu this week and the q from the paper and the cheap pasta prices at Publix right now this is a great deal. The q rings up as $1.50 no matter what! It is a manufacturers q that doesn't expire until April. I got 16 Ragu and 8 boxes of pasta virtually for free because the pasta was $.69!!

    • Can't find the penny item coupon, no store ads in the Wednesday Greenville News, and the Publix ad that came in my mailbox yesterday doesnt have a penny item coupon. They do require it at the store near me.

      • Wifeepoo

Keep asking your cashier. My store decided just last week to no longer require it, but the customer has to be the one to ask – the cashiers aren't allowed to volunteer this information to the customers.

        • frustratedemployee

I work for Publix & at a store that requires the coupon….PLEASE DON'T ask your cashier for the penny coupon!!! They CANNOT give it to you!! WE DON'T KEEP EXTRAS!!! Why?? Because it's only in the papers now….before we had 'extras' because they were in our sales ad, now it's not!! My store manager will not even 'give you' the penny item without that coupon!! Also, just a note, in my store, your order must be $10 AFTER ALL COUPONS ARE APPLIED!!!!

          • ashley4

I understand your frustration, but every Publix seems to be different. Some cashiers at some stores require it, others don't. It's frustrating for the consumer as well. As we are trying to seek answers but everyone's policy is not the same. Seems as if we are all frustrated :)

          • Wifeepoo

I'm just going by what the cashiers have told me. I was shopping last week & overheard her telling another customer that they no longer required the coupon as long as the customer requested the item. I verified it with her & today asked a different cashier if that was the case & she said yes. Gave me the penny item without a problem, and certainly didn't seem put out by it at all.

But I always spend $40 – $60 at Publix, so the $10 minimum is not a problem.

            • Kelley

I ran into Publix to grab something quick from the deli and just happened to see the penny item display as I was checking out. I asked if I could add one to my order (which was $10 plus change). Not only did I not have a coupon, the cashier walked over and brought the item to me!!!

      • cindy

Ours doesnt come in the sale paper, it comes in the actual wed newspaper. Its an ad in black and white probably less than a quarter of a page. Well, thats how its been the two times Ive found it.

      • Snowski824

It was on the back page of the first section in the Greenville News.

      • Jenni

It was on the back page of one of the news sections, not in an ad. It's also just a coupon, not an ad.

    • rebekah

this is an awesome penny item!!! Thank you to Publix for this..and Jenny for posting!

      • bhumi

i have had this penny item in the past and it is not good at all. To be specific, it tears up prior to completion of its job. i will never again buy this item

    • debbie

      P&C- pg 11A
Thanks Jenny for all you do for us, such a blessing.

    • Andrea

The penny coupon on on the 3rd page of the Gwinnett Daily Post every Thursday. This is a much smaller (and MUCH cheaper) paper if you have access to it instead of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Just a thought if you wanted the penny item, but didn't want to buy a Thursday AJC to get it.

      • zombiemommy

At most Publix you can ask Customer Service when you go in for the penny coupon. They keep extra copies there.

        • Tina

They said at the Publix in Hueytown, AL. that it was a deal they have with the local paper that require you to buy the paper now for the coupon. They are not allowed to give you a coupon or let you get the item without it. They do have a paper there that you can purchase.

          • zombiemommy

            That's terrible.:(

    • Mom2teenagers

For those of you in the Midlands, remember that you do not have to buy a copy of The State for the penny q because you can visit The State's website and sign up for one day access to the e-copy of the paper and you can click on the coupon and print it.

      • ireneY

Do you think people outside the Midlands can do it too? The Thursday paper is $1 here and I haven't paid $1 for toilet paper in a looooong time! :)

        • Mom2teenagers

I don't see why not! Good luck.

      • Gabi

Thanks for the reminder! Any idea if I will be able to do this again next week?

        • Mom2teenagers

I've done this for the last 3 weeks. I thought it would be a “one time pass” like stated but I've logged on every Wednesday for a one day pass and got the q for free. Now I don't have to buy a paper or cut up anybody's paper to get the q.

      • kimbo0825

The q states “at participating stores in Ga, Ala, SC and Tenn”
It sounds like you can use it anywhere.

      • GA Mom

Thanks for the tip. I went to the site (I live in GA) and was able to get a one-day trial for free and the coupon was there. Yippee!

        • Marina115

The coupon does say for the 24th only and our sale doesn't start on until the 25th. But I'm going to try it anyway, so hopefully I won't get a very picky cashier! :)

          • GA Mom

O.K. Coupon from The State did not work here in Alpharetta, GA today b/c our penny item is on Thurs (the 25th) rather than Wed (the 24th) as it reads on the coupon. Also, it's a different code. My cashier was really nice though and knows me and put the correct code in for me. Does anyone know of an online paper we can get the penny item coupon in in ATL?

    • Michelle

Do the Publix sell items start on Wednesday or Thursday in Tennessee?

      • In the Nashville area, the new ad is effective Wednesday through Tuesday, so the penny item is available Wednesday.

      • AngelaDH

        Wednesday in the Chattanooga area…

    • Cara

I have no desire to buy the Wednesday Tennessean just to get the Penny item. I was told by a cashier at Publix that you could find the penny item coupon in the Tennessean online, but I have not been able to find it. Does anyone know if this is true?

      • Anonymous

try thestate.com and register for a free one day pass. It’s on A-2

    • thinkgreen08

This weeks Publix penny item coupon is on page A-5 in the Chattanooga Times Freepress. The Hixson TN store was using the Greenwise toilet paper for the promo. The regualr price is $3.89 so it was a great deal today. If you are new to the penny item deal, at the Hixson store it is located in the front of the store on the wall in front of the registers. I know the East Brainerd store sometimes has theirs in different spots.

    • Mom2teenagers

      Happy to help!

      • Mom2teenagers

Sorry I was replying to GA Mom below.

    • Molly

I just subscribed to the Birmingham News (I live in Montgomery, but Bham has better Sunday inserts) and my subscription comes with the Sunday and Wednesday papers. I was excited because I thought I would get the penny item coupon. But, I got my first Wed paper today and it's not in there. Has anybody else had this problem?

      • hsvmom

I am not sure where the penny coupon is in the B'ham paper, but it will not be in the sale fliers. They put it on one of the actual paper pages in black and white and it may just be the penny coupon so go through the paper carefully page by page. Good luck!

      • Erin

I live in Bham and receive the Bham News through delivery. Mine was on page 2A. In fact, I think it's been on that same page since they started putting them there on Wednesdays. It's at the very bottom of the page.

        • blpowers

Thank you! I had looked everywhere and overlooked it!

        • Molly

Thanks so much! I found it! I had never seen one in the actual paper before and I was scanning for a big Publix ad. I didn't expect it to be by itself. Now I know what to look for!

      • Lee

It is on about page 3 in the first section of the Bham News, left page at bottom

    • Angel

wow! I tried logging in before noon and couldn't but, right at noon, the network was busy. By 12:07 the offer was over! I can't believe 1000 people registered that quickly.
      well, an awesome offer.

    • Angel

oh, I was referring to the Olay offer.

    • Christy

Hoover, AL Publix's penny item is Greenwise toilet paper, not Publix brand.

      • Amanda

homewood, Al penny item was publix coffee this morning:(

    • CCHolt

The link for the Olay you posted today will not work, it is giving an error message do you have another link for this product? Thanks for all you do for us.

    • Jenn

I have become completely frustrated in Publix's new policy. By the time I add the cost of purchasing a newspaper, find the hidden coupon just for a penny item, it's ridiculous.

The store in Simpsonville on Fairview Rd. told me the only way to get the penny item was to purchase a newspaper. I will ask Mauldin and Woodruff Rd. stores to find out their policy. Does anyone already know? Thank you.

      • Dawn75

Five Forks Publix requires the coupon. :)

        • ashley4

Publix Stores on Pelham and the corner of the Parkway requires the coupon as well. Saddened by this news…but it is true!

      • casey728

Publix in Mauldin and Woodruff road require coupon too! I have found it is not worth my time unless its juice(:

    • Tina

The penny item in Hueytown, AL. is Publix Grape juice

    • Jenni

Weird, the Publix in Easley, SC had saltines for their penny item today instead of the TP. Kinda glad, I'm happier with the crackers.

    • River

Irmo Publix had saltines for the penny item and no coupon is required

    • Erin

At the Publix of DT Greenville, the .01 item is a roll of paper towels.

    • ywardlaw

The store on Forest drive has cans of snacks and kitchen items for the penny.

    • publixluvr

I just wanted to say how much I love my Publix @ Kennerly Crossing! Not only do they not require a coupon for the penny item, but TWICE now I have forgotten to ask for the item until after I had paid. (Once, I was even in the parking lot and mentioned to the young lady helping me out that the whole reason I shop on Wednesdays was the penny item and I forgot it). Both times she has gotten the item for me and told me not to worry about the penny. Of course I give it to her, but how awesome is that?? That particular day she went back into the store, got the item and brought it back to the parking lot for me!! (I think it's partly that they feel sorry for me because I usually have a bunch of kids with me and it's always a little chaotic, so they try to be as helpful and accomodating as possible). I don't care what the reason—I just appreciate it so much. I know this is long, but with so many complaints, I just wanted to put a positive post up. I wish you could all shop @ my Publix ;-)

    • georgiapeach48

where is the coupon for the penny item in the AJC ? I can't find it.

    • Sharie

Publix Penny Item is at the end of Section D today (Feb. 24) of the AJC.

    • Christopher Cothran

Hello, this is Chris from Palm Beach County, FL. Was wondering if there are any other major differences that you are aware of between our Publix Stores and the ones that are in your core area?

    • jessica

i bought 1 tide 100 oz @ 10.99 and 1 downy at 4.89 and 1 tide stain release for 3.99 used the following coupon for a fantastic reward you use 1.00 off tide 1.00 off downy and 1.50 off stain release then if you have a free downy with purchase and then publix has free stain release you get all 3 three for only 7.49. no one can beat that deal

    • mstidom

I went to Publix in Lexington, SC last night and the penny item there was a box of Kraft mac n cheese. I was a little disappointed it wasn't the tp, but I'll take anything for a penny! :) I was also told by the cashier last night that they do not take Target's store coupons. I also tried to give them a coupon that begins with #5 but was printed from the CVS website and had CVS' name on the top and they wouldn't take it. I thought q's beginning with a 5 or 9 were manufacturer q's and could be used anywhere, but I'm new to this so I didn't argue. Can anyone clarify for me?

      • darkenmind1326

hey i completely relate…i was looking forward to tp for $0.01! I have gotten cheap tp before but not that cheap…but they told me it was Publix grape juice…I said sure why not its good for you…That was at the Gervais Street Publix downtown…

    • denise0331

Publix in Taylors, SC requires the coupon. Apparently they were out of TP by 7 P.M. when I got there. I received a Ghiradelli brownie mix for my 1 cent item. I was hoping for the TP (but bought a lot from Costco the other day). The brownie mix WILL be used but the 4 lbs of fat and 4 inches I've lost in the last 3 weeks may not be going lower!

    • Joyce

Hi I just love Publix! I have never heard of penny items in south florida here. Does anyone know if we have it in Florida? Also i don't understand one day pass?? What is that all about? Thanks for any and all replies

    • tmycroft

I just rec'd my Publix ad in my free AJC Evening Edge paper and there is no Penny Item coupon. I am in Woodstock, GA, the sale starts today for my area. Anyone know why there isn't a coupon in the ad? Thanks!

      • LoriMama

Sorry tymcroft – the Penny item Q does not come in The Evening Edge. You have to buy the AJC or a local paper. Also, it usually is not in the ad – it is somewhere in the paper.

        • tmycroft

          Ok, thanks so much!

    • I'm going to frame these and hang them when my husband's at work and see how long it takes him to notice when he gets home!

    • mama22babygirls
