Publix Weekly Ad 3/11-3/17

on 3.11.2009 at 12:41am

This post may contain affiliate links. Read our disclosure here.

Here are all the deals that start today 3/11 at Publix (or Thursday 3/12 in some areas). There is also a new Advantage Buy Flyer out, I have included those deals at the bottom of this list.

Let me know if you see something I missed or find a deal in the store. New Food Lion Printable coupons will be up after lunch. Don’t forget that you can use a competitor coupon for house brand items on Publix house brands.

  1. You do not have to buy 2 of the B1G1 items to get the sale price
  2. If you do buy 2 items that are B1G1 make sure you use 2 coupons to get the best deal
  3. Publix accepts competitors coupons (you can stack with a manufacturers coupon and a Publix coupon too)
  4. You can use a store coupon and a manufacturer’s coupon on the same item
  5. Most Publix locations double manufacturer coupons that are .50¢ or less

**1 & 5 do not apply to Florida stores**

    • Julie

At checkout at Publix at Lake Murray Landing/Ballentine on Sunday, March 8, I was told that they had had a “big meeting” and now only accepted grocery store competitor coupons. My guy wouldn’t take a Target one and implied that Walgreens ones would also be out… Has anyone been able to use a Target Q there since Sunday?

    • Jenny

I just used the Target Orange Juice coupon there yesterday. I guess they haven’t relayed all the information. Most stores are starting to decide to not accept Targets and Drugstores so I’m not surprised.

    • Kim

I looked and looked in my Feb. All You magazine and could not find the Banquet q. However, I did find 1.00 off any GM cereal, including most or all of what was on sale (I think it was in Feb; I also looked in Jan. and March for the Banquet q). Also, my mom was mailed a Kroger q (says manufacturers) for 1.25 off 2 Breyers products. She lives in GA but sends me her q’s. I wasn’t sure if that was a common one they mailed out? Lastly, have you received your $120 P&G booklet. I haven’t, and I’m starting to get concerned. There’s nothing I can do b/c I didn’t make any copies, but I was just wondering if they’ve been mailed out.

    • Addie

You can check online for the status of your P&G booklet.

There’s a line that says “check your rebate status”. That will at least let you know if it’s in processing.

    • The Publix on Broad River and Kennerly won’t take Target coupons as well. Hey Jenny there is a bricks coupon for the Motts 4 or 6 pack for 55 cents off one. Ill find the link and send it to ya!

    • Vicki

I had been told that our Publix stores here in North GA will honor Kroger coupons. I have a couple of Kroger $5 off $45 and $6 off $60 coupons that expire on 3/14/09. Can I use them both on $120 worth of groceries before coupons?

    • Carrie

Julie–I am new to couponing so I called my local Publix manager to get the skinny on exactly what they would and would not take. Generally, at least here in Central Florida, they do not take coupons from stores like Target/Walgreens/etc. However, he told me if it was a grocery item, to bring the coupon in and let him look at it and he’d do his best to help me out and help me save the most money possible.

My advice would just be to ask the manager about the coupon before you begin shopping.

    • Terrica

-$2 off Advil PM printable is not working. Any ideas where I could find this coupon. Thanks!

Terrica- Click on the link above and click on the bottom right hand corner of the page and it will open up a coupon image. You can actually print more than one!

You can click here for the Motts applesauce coupon!

    • Rachel

Where is the All Well & Good coupon book?

    • Jenny

Rachel the All Well & Good was near the pharmacy in some stores and near the front door in others. It has been out for a while so you probably won’t find it in your area any more. Here is a link to the image though:

    • carolin

I’m looking for the $30 off Contour Meter RP 3/01 coupon. I live Northeast Florida and am guessing that I didn’t get this coupon. I looked through my RP 3/01 insert and nothing. Does anyone know of a site that I may purchase it from?

I had the wrong date, check your 2/01 Red Plum and if you didn’t get it you can get it off of ebay or the coupon clippers.

    • Amy B.

On the Bertolli, it actually makes the pouches 44.5 cents each :)

There are peelies on some of the General Mills Cereal (Rosewood Pub) for a free reusable shopping bag WYB 2 (they have cute flowery ones now).

There were also some tearpads a week or two ago for save $1 WYB 2 Kraft Dressings (it also had $1 coupons for Kraft Parmesan and Digorno).

The large box of Orville Redenbacher Natural Simply Salted Popcorn is also included in the B1G1 and there is a $1 off blinkie making it $1.45 AC.

I also found a lot of great deals on the clearance spinny thing. Some back to nature nuts that I had $1q’s for and Stainless steel starter kits that were $1.50 AC. All in all I spent 26.96 and saved 49.26!

    • Jenn

The Publix’s in the Greenville, SC do not take drug/ retail store coupons. They are even starting to crack down on competitor’s coupon by only allowing 1 comp coupon/total transaction. So take advantage of the good deals while they last :)

    • Kim

Thanks for all the great deals! There is also a Marzetti $1/1 in the newest good housekeeping magazine. (only if you get it in the mail I think)

    • Shannon N.

I “almost” had an issue last night with a $5 off $25 rite aid coupon, one of the managers said no to drug store coupons, but the other said “we’ll take anything” (I like that Manager) :-) Only reason she went to ask another manager though is because I said I didn’t want any of the items if they didn’t take it. This is in Tallahassee, FL.

    • Diane

Publix in Nashville (I checked 2 locations) has confirmed that they no longer take any Target, Rite Aid, CVS or Walgreens Qs. Have not had any problem with them taking Food Lion printables or Kroger Qs so far…

    • jennifer

I just went to publix at kennerly and broadriver this morning and had no problem with the target coupons.

    • Michelle

The Publix in Summerville will accept Target coupons, I called this morning. Does anyone know a way to print more coupons for Motts, it only let me print 2???

    • Jenny

The only way to get more is to find more computers. Sorry.

    • Michelle A.

Hey Michelle. I printed (2) Motts coupons that I dont need. I can send em’ to you via snail mail today if you want them. You’ll prob. get them before the sale ends next week I’m sure!

    • Sherri

Hey just thought I’d let you know that I am a cashier at Publix in Citrus County FL & I’ve worked there since Sept 08 & at least since I’ve been there, we haven’t been allowed to take any competitor coupons unless it is a grocery store no Walgreens, Target, CVS etc). I am a coupon addict myself so this effects me also. This is supposed to be Publix policy but I have also heard some Publix in other areas accept them. I guess management or your cashier’s knowledge of their job dictates what you can or cannot get away with. All I can say is try to use your coupons because you never know but don’t rely on those to work! If it works it’s an added bonus. All you can do is try! Hope this has cleared things up some. I am not a Publix spokesperson I’m just passing information along! See you all at Publix!

    • Amy B.

Found another potential deal that I didn’t see mentioned.

In the yellow publix flyer there are two coupons: $1 Birds Eye Steam Fresh Meals for Two, $1/3 Bird’s Eye Steam Fresh Vegetables. There are two insert coupons () $2.00 off Birds Eye Meals for Two, Buy Birds Eye meals for two, get Vegetable for free.

Meals for two are on sale of $5.99 and the veggies range from $1.79-2.49.

      Potential Scenario:
      Buy 3 Meals for Two, use 3 $2 off coupons,3 B1GVeggies, 3 $1 Pub Coupon
and 3 Birds Eye Veggies, $1/3 Pub coupon (if there is a man q too, this will be even hotter).

So $5.99×3=$17.97-3x$2(=$6)-3x$1(=$3)-1x$1(=$1)=$7.97 for 3 meals and 3 veggies!

    • Gail

I called the Publix in Warner Robins Georgia and the manager confirmed that THEY DO accept target coupons! Yeah!!

    • Amy B.

      Here are the coupon matchups:
Steamfresh Meals for Two $2 (4-18-09) SS 3/8/09
      Steamfresh Vegetable or Rice Varieties, any $1 on 3 (4/11/09) V 3/1/09
Steamfresh Vegetables or Rice FREE up to $2.99 wyb 1 Steamfresh Meals for Two (3-22-09) SS 2/8/09

And there is a Man Q for the Veggies, so they will be $6.97 for the 3 meals and 3 veggies:

-$1/3 off Birds Eye Vegetables All Well & Good Booklet from Publix
      -$1/3 Bird’s Eye printable https://www.birdseyefoods.com/inspiration/Default.aspx?tqnm=qckieoz21184521&o=53182&c=BE&p=uw7yoN0Z&cl=&cp=&eb=&ci=&bq=&r=&lang=&cista=0

      Hope that helps!!

    • Susanna

I also live in Nashville, and I’ve found that MOST Publix do not accept Walgreens or Target coupons. HOWEVER, the Publix in Brentwood (the one in Maryland Farms) and the brand new Publix in Belle Meade (at Harding Pl. and White Bridge Road) both take the coupons. Hope that helps you out!

    • Just a heads up…the Bertolli blikie at my Publix has the $1/1 coupon but specifies pouches only. Be sure to check. I had my cart filled with jars and had to put hem all back on the shelf.

Also if you have the .55¢/1 Armour meatball coupon and the accompaniyoing FREE pasta WYB Armour meatballs coupon this makes a great addition to the Bertolli pasta sauce deal.

Buy (1) Armour meatballs $2.99 & pick up (1) any pasta valued up to $1 (Bertolli .67¢)

Total $3.66 – .55¢/1 and the Free WYB coupon= $2.44 for meatballs and pasta

    • bob

that’s strange. at my publix, they take all coupons. when ever i go through checkout, all the cashier ever talks about is how much she loves printable coupons. guess all stores are different!

    • There is a $1/1 Banguet Chicken nuggets coupon in the February All You magazine. My store only carries the strips, however the intial barcode numbers on the coupon match those on the strips, even though the coupon states nuggets.

The meat dept. guy was willing to order a shipment for me, which didn’t make sense since I only wanted one bag.

I asked the manager if I could use the Banquet nugget coupon on the Banquet strips after I reviewed the matching bar code and she was fine with it.

The coupon will work for the strips without manager intervention, even though it says nuggets.

      Banquet sale price is $2.74 ea. – $1/1 coupon= $1.74 for 18 strips

      Hope this helps.

      **Jenny here**
I had that one above this morning but no one could find it in their February issues. so I pulled up the coupon lists and it wasn’t in those either. Did you find it in your issue?

    • Jamie

I used my coupons combined with the Publix BOGO items this week. Bought $135.00 worth of stuff and only paid $79.15. They also accepted a Food Lion coupon with no questions asked. Last week, my store plus manufacturer savings combined was over 100 dollars. Thanks southernsavers.com!

    • April

I ran into my local Publix (Atlanta area) to get some gum this morning. They have Mentos gum on sale for .99 and there are currently 2 mentos coupons out from recent papers..maybe this past weekends? Therefore, I paid .06 for tax. Also, I noticed that Hunts tomatoes (atleast the smaller cans) were BOGO even though it did not show it in the sales flyer.

    • Susanna,

Thanks for the tip on the Brentwood Publix. I’m by there once a week!

    • Joy

I just called my local Publix here in Birmingham, AL and asked if they accept Target and Walgreens coupons and she said yes. YEA!!!!

    • Aymie

      Hi all
I found a coupon for Purex detergent save $.35 on one (S/S), Publix has a coupon Buy 1 Purex detergent get a fabric softener free (Publix flier in Sunday paper), also S/S coupon save $.55 on one fabric softener. I don’t have exact prices but that sounded like a good deal, just wanted to share.

    • Jane

The Kashi breakfast bars are on sale 2/$6.00. There is a $2 off 1 printable coupon (it is posted on last week’s CVS deals). Makes each box $1.00!

    • Ronda

Jenny see the below coupon for Curly Baked beans.

$1 off any Curly’s BBQ item:

    • Jeannie

So you know on the Kashi bars (TLC type) no CVS had any here (last week) because they were recalled because of “the peanut situation”.

The banquet q is in a tear out inside the All You that has “Party Playbook” on the front (there is a woman in a helmut pictured on the front.)

    • Martha

Where do you find the Simple Ways to save flyer at Publix? Does it come out once a month?

    • Julie

Which Publix in Birmingham? The new one in McCalla just stopped taking Target IPs apparently, though they will take CVS or Walgreen’s. I used a $10 off of $50 that printed with my ECBs from CVS today.

    • Tara

I spoke with the cashier yesterday morning about them not taking the “competitors coupons”. She shared with me that they just would not take Target, Walgreens, ect. But other grocery store coupons they would, such as Food Lion, Bilo, ect…

    • Sandi

The Publix in Lexington (SC) has posted signs at every register (since at least last Sunday) stating that they will only accept grocery competitor coupons as of 3-14-09. :(

I went to publix today got 12 free with overage things and the cashier called over a manager who said I could not have overage, that was the frist time that has happened to me a publix. but I still did good paid $13.xx saved $52.xx!!!

    • Christa

Went to publix in Cumming, Ga (306/369) Monday night, cashier said just last week mgrs said no more drugstore coupons, only grocery store chains. (but isn’t target considered a grocery store, so target seems like it wouldn’t be a problem) She questioned my 1 BJ’s coupon, so probably won’t get to use them again (but she took it) I used my Walgreen’s Register Rewards to pay with, that wasn’t a problem, so maybe it is just walgreen’s, CVS, Rite-Aid’s store coupons.

    • Our publix here take every kind of competitor coupon. I paid $9 for $99 worth of good from Walgreen and Publix today (check out my receipts http://www.seaykopitiam.com/2009/03/11/i-paid-907-for-goods-worth-9930/). They took Walgreen’s catalina, CVS ECB, Rite Aid printable coupon. I really hope they would not change the policy here. I am glad to save 90% every week on grocery. Last week there were a whole bunch of Curly’s pull meat next to the pull meat , I got 2 of them but last night I went there to get more, none left but I got a lot of Bertoli pasta sauce porch peelie. If you want to swap with me let me know.
      Thank you

    • Teri

Does Publix lose money on the coupons we use from competitors and from the Publix store coupons?
The Rite Aid NBA coupon ($5 off $25) has 2 expiration dates on it. One is this Friday and one at the end of the month. Unfortunately, the biggest, most visible expiration date is this Friday. Which is correct and is there anyway to get the large date officially changed to match the 3/31 date?
On the Advil-Therm. deal, are you using an expired Publix coupon?

    • Jenny

Publix does lose money on the competitor coupons but not on their store coupons. I doubt that you could get the date changed on the Rite Aid coupon. Sorry.

The advil thermacare coupons are in the new green advantage buy booklet that came out last week.

    • Teri

Should I try to use the Rite Aid coupon even thought the dates are off? What would you do about that? My Publix takes them. My manager asked where where I was getting those Rite Aid coupons. It got me wondering how we know that those coupons are legitimate. Thanks!

    • Melanie

The Publix on Harbison last night would not let me stack coupons anymore. I was trying to do the thermacare and advil deal with the publix coupons and manufacturer coupons. They told me I had to choose teh manufacturer or Publix coupons, not both. They said it was a new store policy. Anyone else had this problem?

    • Jeannie

That Rite Aid coupon is from the NBA.com- If you go to the site and hit “teams” and go to the Cavaliers and hit team again and go to the media guide there you see “community” at the bottom click that and then at the bottom of the next page you will see a rite aid sign, click that and you can see the q link-
Jenny made it easy by cutting out all that extra clicking.

BTW- the expiration date is new– good til 4/30/09.

I’ve been couponing a long time — Jenny has never posted a bad coupon. She’s really good.

Anyone- I can’t find the Tai Pei q’s- mine are all ling-ling-
Has anyone else had this? Maybe because I’m close to ATL and those were regional- Thx

    • paige

jennie I tried this and still could not find it what am I doing wrong?

    • Jenny M.

I was at the Lexington SC Publix this morning and learned they will stop taking ANY competitors coupons EXCEPT grocery stores. :( It goes into effect on March 14th, so I have a few more days to use up my Target coupons before they are gone forever.

And I did find on all the General Mills cereal boxes coupons for a free reusable shopping bag if you buy 2 G.M. products! I used two .55 cent coupons on BOGO Honey Nut Cheerios, AND got a free tote bag! The coupons says “Manufacturer Coupon,” Jenny, do you think I could use it at Bi-Lo and get a Bi-Lo bag free?

    • Jeannie

Try this link. It’s an awful lot of clicking and I may have gotten the order wrong!

      This new one expires 4/30

    • Jeannie

Here’s the link for the page where you click on the coupon to print it.

    • Jenny

Jenny M – You probably can use the coupons at Bi-Lo without a problem.

Thanks for finding the new link to the Rite Aid coupon!!

    • Teri

Thanks for the info, Jeannie and Jenny. Please don’t think I doubt Jenny’s honesty. I was wondering how I would answer if I was asked. It got me to thinking when my Publix manager asked me a quick question about it. I began thinking that I did not know why we get to use the coupon. Thanks for the info about the expiration date. Awesome! (I’m a new mega-couponer though I have been a minimal couponer and rebater for a long time. Now I’m really saving money and feel so blessed to be able to be a better steward of the money the Lord has given our fmaily.)

    • Tara

I have asked about the competitors Q’s. Basically, I was told that Publix would not honor any Drug Store or any store that sold products other than the “typical” grocery store. So WalMart, Target, K’Mart etc is out. (Darn>>) I also went to Kroger and they don’t do it either plus they will not match Publix on their prices. I think Publix will match the price if you bring in the add.

All the more reasons why I shop Publix.

    • Jeannie

Didn’t think for a minute you were bad talking-
Just letting you know my good experience here- Happy couponing- and btw my Publix does not take Rite Aid q’s — so lucky you! : )

    • Lindsey

Just an FYI for everyone…Publix will take Target coupons if it’s near a Super Target (grocery store included). That’s the only time it’s considered “competition”. I think that’s why they stopped taking Walgreen’s, CVS, etc!! :( Hope this helps!

    • Sharon

Hi, just a saver for Puppy Food. Iams puppy food 4lb bags (in Lexington is 6.19) and there was a $5.00 off coupon that we recently got on Puppy or Kitten food. Made the 4lb bag 1.19.

Also the Hi-C is 1.50 for a 10 pack and with the 1.00 off foodlion printable makes it .50 for the 10 pack. WOW!!!!

Thanks Jenny for all your hard work each week….

    • Rebekah

I also was told at my Publix today, that after today (since I used target coupons) they would no longer be accepting coupons from Target, Walgreen’s, etc…only major grocery store chains.

    • vicki

I just got the Red Plum for 3/15/08 and it’s a good one! Buy those papers this weekend!!!!!

    • Teri

Is there any way to use the Kroger online/loadable type coupons at Publix? (We don’t ahve a Kroger nearby so I don’t ahve the card.)

    • Catherine

A question and a store review:
Question: does anyone else get the Red Plum, Smart Source and P&G Saver inserts thrown into their driveways with a section of a local newspaper? I don’t subscribe to any papers, but the Marietta Daily Journal throws a short recipe and arts section with all the big three coupons sets every Wednesday! Free money in my driveway!! Are these different from the ones you get in the Sunday papers (bigger, more coupons, better coupons)? I bought an AJC for the coupons several months ago and didn’t anything different from what I get each week, although I realize more coupons = more savings.

Publix review: the Publix on Baker Road/Jiles Road in Kennesaw, GA is VERY coupon friendly. They didn’t turn down a thing I gave them today, whether printed, clipped or even SuperTarget! Everyone around me was like “WHAT?” when they saw that I saved $86! Using coupons and store specials (B1G1 mostly), we are now loaded for bear when it comes to cereals, chicken nuggets for my son, and snack crackers.:) Can’t wait to see what I save at Kroger tomorrow!

    • Catherine

PS – of course when they asked how I knew about saving so much money, I passed around the http://www.southernsavers.com name!! :)

    • Brooke

Sometimes I get a small paper in my drive way. There aren’t always coupons in the paper, but when there are coupons they are typically identical to the coupons in the Sunday paper. Even if the paper in my drive way has coupons it is usually only 1 of the 2 or 3 inserts. Lucky you getting all the inserts free!

    • Jan

I also wanted to know where to find the Simple Ways to Save flyer at Publix….are they in the store?

And to confirm another part of town in Columbia, SC: Forest Drive Publix says no drugstore competitor coupons either, but grocery store ones are fine. They’ve been very nice and friendly. On this same note, the Kroger on Forest Drive will not take internet coupons UNLESS they are in COLOR! I don’t have a color printer, so I found me a new Kroger who will take them: Two Notch (at Sparkleberry). They were very nice.

    • Stephanie

Does anyone know if the IAMS $5.00 coupon will work for the sale this week on kitten food? This is a wonderful site! I have told some many people about it! Keep up the Great Work! I appreciate it and so others! Started shopping a Publix’s about 2 weeks and have saved so much! Have one in my town but never even went to check it out…lost out on so much money :( but making up for it now! They are so nice here in Mount Juliet, Tn.

    • eggo waffles 2 for $3.00 use 1/1 non-ss co’s get them for .50 each! hths :)

    • yes, you should be able to use the 5/1 iams kitten food co on the sale bag this week. hth :)

    • Cheryl

Jenny, Just used your system for the 1st time today at Publix. It worked great! I was not able to find the in-store coupons for the Bertolli pasta sauce or the Kraft dressing, though, at the Publix on Hardscrabble Rd. :( Still saved $31.58 and spent $48.09, including chicken, a roast and salmon. Thanks for what you do!

    • MelRae

To Susanna from Nashville: Thanks for your tip about the Belle Meade Publix. I am hoping that they will accept my $10 RR from Walgreens. My Kroger on Charlotte refused it today.

    • Kim

Anyone know of any publix in Greenville SC that DO still take the target coupons? Wade Hampton does not. No drugstore coupons either but they will accept other grocery store coupons.

    • Aymie

Ahhhh another successful Publix trip thanks to you! I just wanted to thank you for all you do and especially taking the time to explain the deals to us, it saves time off of my end, and I’m sure a lot of others and it makes my groceries run not only less expensive but more fun! I spent $57.72, and that was after buying a huge bag of charcoal, postage stamps, meat, cereals, and a few milks. I saved $41.36. That is so refreshing to me! Thanks again, I am truly a believer and will NEVER pay full price for groceries ever again!

Ps- Anyone know the site I can get the $6.00 off charcoal and participating items (like ball park and vlasic)?

    • Aymie

Nevermind I saw it up top thanks!

    • Aymie

Oh and I also wanted to add that I DID NOT buy pork to use the $6 off coupon. I bought a big bag of charcoal and the bogo vlasic pickles and the cashier accepted it.

    • Here is a Del Monte Printable when you sign up for the newsletter!

Click on the get coupon on bottom right and sign up for the newsletter. They send out coupons every month or so.

    • Becca

Anyone know if you can use more than 1 Food Lion coupon for the same brand item? For example, can I use 2 Food Lion competitor coupon s for 2 Gerber baby foods?

The coupon says “limit one coupon per transaction.”

    • Aymie

Becca, my Publix has only accepted one coupon per transaction but if you use the coupon for the particular item, once a day, every day for a week then you still get the deal…Now if your Publix is really generous and you have time, do multiple transactions or at different registers… Its more gas and time but its worth it.

    • Aymie

      Question for all:
      Does Publix accept BJ’s coupons?

    • Tracy

Just wanted to let everyone know you can use the Food Lion coupon for $1.00 of any Doritios on the small bags at check out for $.99~ So they are FREE!

    • Aymie

Actually, the Doritos were .75 on sale at my store, so I got them for free plus .25 overage!! I always wanted to be like the “moms I see on t.v.” and although I am not yet a mom, I am still a frugal lady! I have so much fun with this site and enjoy reading other people’s deals don’t you?

    • Just got a new blog… Feel free to leave comments!

    • Not in the right area, I know… But anyone know how to add the Swagbucks banner on the blogspot?

    • Michelle

My Publix has accepted the BJs coupons if they are not for a specific size item that Publix doesn’t carry in that size. However – they are coded as manf. coupons so you can’t stack using BJs as a competitor coupon

(Thanks to Jenny for the seminar today, I now know how to read the codes on the coupons!)

    • Thanks Michelle… I guess it is worth a shot!

    • Amanda
I really like your blog site. Can you help me with something? I am really confused as to how to add southernsaver.com as well as some other sites to my main page. It doesnt come up the way it does on yours. Also, how did you add the swagbucks to your main page? Thanks so much.

    • Jenny,

Thank you so much for this site! I am still stumbling through it -I just started visiting this site a few weeks ago maybe – and I haven’t actually put it into action yet, but I can feel it beginning to soak in a bit more. It is intimidating, overwhelming, and confusing, and you do a good job of breaking it up into a more concise explanation. I really like how, at the bottom of the CVS page, you publish your “Grand Plan”, broken up into steps. I was wondering if I could make a small request for your “Grand Plan”, or Bottom Line, at the end of each store’s site – it would be easier then for me to copy and paste, print off, and go into the store at least sort of knowing what’s going on. I’m committed to learning how to do this because I know it’s going to save my family so much money and I have gotten plugged into my church’s coupon class, so I see improvements on the horizon! But the sooner the better!
Thank you so much for your dedication.

      Laura Odell

    • Merrilyn

My Publix (FL) does not accept Target coupons anymore, either. The manager said they only accept coupons from “direct competitors”. Oh well.

    • Angie

I have a question ? does anyone know what the deal is on the charcoal ? I seen were someone got the charcoal and meat for free ? Does anyone know how to do that deal ?

    • starbucksgirl

My Publix will accept multiple Food Lion coupons for the same item although I wouldn’t recomment using so many that it draws attention to you or hurts others couponing efforts (if that makes sense).

    • Sylvie

Can someone tell me where the $1 bertolli olive oil coupon is from?

And I’m sure I’m just blind but where in the publix Sunday flyer is the mystery .01 item?? I’ve looked all through the circular and can’t find it anywhere… I know I’m just missing something obvious.

    • Jenny

It is from bottles that had coupons on them. You probably won’t find any now that the sale has been going for a few days.

    • Angie-
In order to do the meat/charcoal deal…
You get the coupon from on the top of this page, it says $6 off pork, charcoal, and one other participating product.
How I did mine was I got Vlasic pickels that were BOGO, used two Target $1 off coupons for the Vlasic, and then bought a big bag of Charcoal. I actually did not buy any meat, and lucked out because I had so many groceries and coupons and the line was long that the cashier didn’t even bother to check.
But I think you have to buy any pork product, along with charcoal and one other participating brand (ball park, vlasic, glad, etc).
You can also try and use a food lion $3 off coupon for the charcoal as well…
      Good luck!

    • Amanda

FWIW, the Publix on Two Notch Road told me this morning that they are no longer accepting any Target/CVS/Walgreens coupons… only grocery store competitors. :(

    • MrGMom

Don’t mean to be a party pooper, but the reason Publix won’t take any more Target/CVS/RiteAid coupons is because too many folks were trying to pull “fast ones” by sneaking in coupons for items they didn’t purchase. I think it’s important to note that if we all want to continue saving A LOT of money on our groceries, we should respect the stores, the cashiers, and the process so we don’t lose any more opportunities to save. Just sayin’…

    • starbucksgirl

Here are the coupons for that deal (they are listed above in Jenny’s Publix section under the Vlassic pickles):

-$1 off Vlasic Pickles printable (Target) exp 3/14 (makes it .44¢ ea)
-$6 off Pork wyb Kingsford Charcoal and 1 other participating product printable (the other product is the pickles)
-$3 off Publix Beef coupons on Charcoal Bags (peelie)
-$3 off Charcoal (Food Lion Coupon – check link at top of this page)

You have to buy the following:

1 bag of charcoal ($8.31 @ my Publix)
1 jar of vlassic pickles ($1.45 @ my Publix)
1 pork item & 1 other meat item($4.14 left over to buy the pork item and the other meat item)

      Hope that helps.

All of the coupons combined will give you $13.00 off the above.

    • Kara

Our Publix in Spring Hill, TN does take Target coupons. This is because we have a Super Target just down the street. They do not take CVS or WAGS. They do take more than 1 Food Lion coupon and I was able to get a lot of overage this week. Just to let the people know in my area!

    • Carrie

I spoke to the manager (Mike) at the Publix on St. James in Goose Creek, SC yesterday. This particular Publix will accept coupons from “all of the area grocery stores, K-Mart, Target, and all national chain pharmacies that we have in our area/that sell the same items as Publix.” He also said that the cashiers are told not to take more coupons than there are items. Mike stated that if you have any questions at the register about coupons that you can ask to speak to a manager who will field any problems that may occur. He said that all of his cashiers are trained in “couponing” and are told that we, the customers, pay their bills and should be treated accordingly.

Anyway, I went shopping last night for the first time armed with all of my coupons. I spent $115.32 and saved $69.30. Then I hit up Bi-Lo where I spent $21.87 and saved $62.38. So all total, I spent $137.19 and saved $131.68! I am quite fired up…I know my savings will be even better next time now that I am getting the hang of this.

Thanks Jenny…and all of you who post messages with helpful info.

    • Hello Jenny & Family,
I was informed while checking out at the Publix,1325 Montclair Road, Birmingham, Alabama that a memo was past on last week informing them not to take Walgreens, CVS, Rite Aid coupons. Only grocery store coupons however, she would not let me use a Food World Grocery Store coupon for a free case of water claiming Publix does not sale Southern Home Spring Water (The Bruno’s & Food World Brand). Lastly, the cashier was more than happy to say wow you saved more than twice what you spent!

    • Publix loses money on all coupons except manufacturer coupons. They also lose money on expired or closely expired manufacturer coupons. Just an FYI.

      **Jenny Here**
From talking to Publix corporate about coupon redemption they actually are fully reimbursed for coupons if submitted within 6 months of the expiration date and they also are reimbursed on store coupons by having discounts and deals set up with the manufacturers. I posted a detailed column about it here.

    • maggie

I posted this once -but in the wrong place(OPPS!) I was looking in the March into savings Publix flyer. Listerine 500 ml is on sale for $3.79. I printed two $2.00 coupons from the Listerine site. The coupon is for Total Care listerine 500ml and it is pictured in the flyer- so that would make them $1.79 each.(WOW!) We usually buy the walmart brand – but you can’t get it for that.
