It’s another fun week at Publix, this ad starts today 4/1 (or Thursday 4/2 in some areas). Please note the end date for this ad, it goes through 4/11. Publix is closed on 4/12 so look for the next new deals list Monday 4/13.

I will post the new Green Advantage Buy deals tomorrow to this post.  Let me know if you see something I missed or find a deal in the store.

New Food Lion Printable coupons are up, there is a $1 off $5 in beef, $1/3 Kraft Cheese and others. Don’t forget that you can use a competitor coupon for house brand items on Publix house brands.

Remember:

1. You do not have to buy 2 of the B1G1 items to get the sale price
2. If you do buy 2 items that are B1G1 make sure you use 2 coupons to get the best deal
3. Publix accepts competitors coupons (you can stack with a manufacturers coupon and a Publix coupon too)
4. You can use a store coupon and a manufacturer’s coupon on the same item
5. Most Publix locations double manufacturer coupons that are .50¢ or less

**1 & 5 do not apply to Florida stores**

    • “No prints available” for Mott’s apple sauce

    • Dianne

      Jenny,

Unfortunately the SS and RP inserts I get don’t include many of the coupons you list. I did have a Revlon Q in the 3/15 SS, but it states any color cosmetic product. Will this work for a tool also?

      Thanks for everything you do.

    • Hi Jenny
Thanks so much for doing this every week for us! I know you have a busy life! I appreciate it so much though, I especially wake up extra early on wednesdays to plan my list!
Saw a few QP’s to add to these deals that you may have missed:
Sara Lee has a coupon through a Target booklet you get mailed for $1.00 off cheesecake, use it with the sale!!
There were peelies on the Ocean Spray juices for $.55 off one bag of Ocean spray craisins, and they are BOGO!
There is a coupon for a free bag of Lay’s potato chips (that are bogo) when you buy any Hillshire farm cold cuts and a loaf of Sara Lee bread. This makes the other bag of chips free, and there is also a blinkie with $.55 off any Hillshire farm.
There is a Food Lion coupon for $1.00 off 1 gallon jar of Mt. Olive pickles and they are bogo.
Last but not least, there is a $1.00 off 2 Kraft mayos (last Sun paper) and they are bogo as well.
Thanks for all you do and have a great day!!!

    • Allie

      3/29 S/S $1 off 2 Kraft mayo

    • Tara

Hi Jenny! Thank you for all you do! Your site is awesome! I live in Lexington, SC and from what I understand you live across the dam in Irmo, SC. Some of the coupons you had posted were not in my coupon inserts. Here are some examples from this weeks list…

      Ronzoni Pasta, 8 – 16 oz box, at $ 1.99
-$1/2 on any Ronzoni Pasta SS 3/08 (makes it .49¢ ea)

Breakstones Sour Cream 16oz .99¢ ea
-$1/2 Breakstones Sour Cream SS 3/29

Do you know why that is? Wouldn’t you and I considered to be in the same “region”? Also, I had signed up for your class this past weekend, but something came up and I could not make it. I am sorry. I would love to attend one of your classes though. Again, thank you for all you do!

      • Jenny

        Tara,

We are in the same region and we do not get all of the coupons I list. I have so many readers from all over the south that i try to list everything that is out there. If we didn’t have it odds are Atlanta and Charlotte got it. They are in the larger region group.

    • Paula

      Hey Jenny,

You mentioned something about posting an article on coupon fraud and the legalities of using coupons. Are you still going to do that?

We had a good one in our store the other day. Had a customer who purchased 3 carts of groceries (she had a coupon for everything). She didn’t ask what we accepted before shopping and didn’t present her coupons until the end of her sale. After all was ran up she then tried to use Petco, Party City, Costco and other coupons we don’t take. When we said no, she wanted the item taken off. We had to scramble through all those groceries to find the items. Now you see why we ask for coupons up front most of the time and match them to items (this was a fairly new cashier). She was on her cell phone with another “couponer” and she was talking real loud about how she was told 4 times in the last 10 min. we wouldn’t take her coupons. She was trying to use expired, hoping we wouldn’t notice and Xerox copies. I can’t say if she used coupons for items not purchased because they weren’t matched up.
Yesterday she brought back nearly $300. worth of the groceries for return. She was thinking we would not take off the coupons and she would get full refund…..wrong again. We pulled all the coupons she used for the items returned (we only had vendor coupons so we lost the money on any competitor coupons she used). She had opened many of the boxes and cut off the “boxtops for Education” points. We lost all that because we can’t restock it. She brought back all the Frozen foods – which we loose because the policy is once a frozen or refridgerated item leaves the store, we can’t restock it.

All in all we lost many dollars (which is our bonus and stocks) on this 1 customer. Then she had the gall later that day to come in and make a second return and bring back Milk (because she didn’t have a coupon for that item and a competitors store did). Unbelieveable!!

So all couponers, Please have patience with us when you are going through our lines and we match coupons to items especially on large purchases.

    • There are Kellogs .75/1 peelies on certain cereals at Publix. Also 1.00/1 blinkies for the Kellogs Cereals 8z or larger. I found awesome 1.00/1 Kellogs Pink Peelies at the Food Lion for 1.00/1 5oz or larger. Some awesome cereal deals to be had with the free egg coupons out there also.

Thanks for getting this up super fast!! You Rock!

    • Lynn

I have the same problem as Dianne with the Publix deals. I sure do wish I had some of these. Thanks for all you do to help us all out!

    • Wheat Thins Artisan Cheese Crackers are included in the bogo sale, so use the bogo coupon from the 3/15/09SS and get free crackers!!

    • Folole

      Hi Jenny,

Thanks for all you do. Between your site and HCW, I have really been able to organize and save money. This is my first time posting, but I wanted to add that I saw .55 cent peelies on the A1 while they were stocking up.

Appreciate your hard work. Have a good day!

    • MIchelle

This is a response to Paula…..This really make me mad this is why when my husband was in our publix the other day and he was treated like a thief and he was doing things legitmately!!! That is un-called for and this lady should b ashamed!! And YES thank u for all of these match ups it really has made my life alot easier with couponing!:)

    • Thank you so much Jenny for all for your hard work!!! It means the world to me what you do! I share your site with everyone!

    • Shannon

I live in the Columbia are and I have noticed that papers in different parts of the city are different. So I grab a paper from home and then grab a few more from other areas.

Paula- I may be very wrong in saying this. But I think your example is not the norm couponer. Most of us are trying to get deals and save as much as we can, but we are not trying to commit fraud. Again I may be wrong, but I would hope that everyone who does use coupons knows that if you do crazy crap like that it will make stores tighten their rules.

On a lighter note.. Thanks to Jenny I hit Publix this morning on my way to work. I sit in the parking lot and clipped coupons while reading the deals off of my cell phone. I shopped and got $51.00 for $10.20. Jenny you rock! I have been using copons for little over a year and I can match them up and I can find good deals. But Jenny you take the work out of it and I still save! Thanks!

    • Karyn

I am sorry, but the lady with the 3 carts who returned everything?! That is just unacceptable…she should be put in jail!!!
      That is just wrong!!

    • Jenny, thanks so much for all your hard work!

    • Deblee

There is a Publix coupon for $1 on half gallon of Horizon Organic milk in the new spring issue of Publix Greenwise magazine. Stack this with the printable.

    • Elizabeth

Paula, I’m sorry you and your store had such an awful experience, but like Shannon said, I think this is the exception, not the norm, when it comes to people using coupons. Please keep in mind (since you work in a grocery store) that most of us are not trying in any way to commit fraud and it really annoys us when we are treated with suspicion because we have coupons. I have stopped giving my business to certain stores because their cashiers give me a hard time every time I come in with coupons–they tell me to have the coupon laying on top of every item on the belt (like these aren’t going to get lost in the process; after I complained to corporate they changed this), scrutinize the fine print on every coupon, and just generally treat me like a semi-criminal. It’s too bad the fraudulent coupon users are ruining it for the rest of us.

    • Carrie

Where can I find the Simple Ways to Save flyer? It’s not at the turnstile in the entry of the store and I asked at the customer service desk and the person didn’t know anything about it.

      Thanks.

      • Jenny

Carrie – Most stores in our area had it in the pharmacy section and then on little tearpads on the snack food aisle (strange I know). It’s been out for a while now though so you might not be able to find it anymore.

    • jennifer

Coupon for $1/2 kraft miracle whip/mayo in last Sundays paper which makes them $1.50 each this week.

    • We received a .35/1 Steamfresh Q recently. Couldn’t you stack three of those w/ a Publix $1/3 Bird’s Eye Q (Expires on 4/3) to get these free or close to free?

    • 75 cents off one I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter coupon here http://bricks.coupons.com/Start.asp?tqnm=qdaifui5893482&bt=vg&o=55690&c=UI&p=5MGhsHrB

      Makes them 45 cents each

    • Jess

      Becky,

Where did you find the .35 coupon??

    • Paula

      Elizabeth and Shanon,

It was not my intent on saying we are going to treat people like criminals. These are not the normal couponers. We love our Couponers and we know the honest ones. I am just saying have patience with us if we do slow down the process to double check. My telling what happened is just an example of “one bad apple can spoil everything for every body”. I would also like to see the post of what is deemed “Coupon Fraud”. Shanon is right in saying that when people try this ‘crazy crap” then it does hurt everyone. That is my intent for telling you this story.
Please check with Customer Service as to what your store will take before you shop. I know we have changed our policies in the last few weeks as to what we will or won’t take. We know people make mistakes (I personally have accidentally given an expired coupon). Please go thru you coupons before coming to the check-out and make sure they aren’t expired and you have the items that you have coupons for. Once we get to know you then we ease up. We usually know all our regular couponers and we love to go to the register to see what they save. We will even cheer them on.
All I’m saying is the policies seem to tighten every time someone comes in and acts dishonestly. I am in no way speaking for Publix when I say all this – this is my own personal views.

Please don’t get angry with us for going a little slower when you have a lot of coupons. If the cashier keeps taking bad coupons they consider this coupon fraud on thier (the cashiers) behalf. With policy changes and tough rules on the cashiers – it just may have us being a little critical with coupons.

We love you all and want you to get the very best deals. We love to see you save money…..we do it ourselves (we get no discounts so we use coupons too). Trust me, they look at every one of my coupons too! I’m just happy to save the money.

    • Kate

Hi all! Just to let anyone who may shop at Bradfordville Publix location in Tallahassee, FL….they have stopped accepting Food Lion coupons. Big bummer!

    • Bayer Asprin 32ct is $2.69
use -2.00 Pulix store coupon + -1.00 Manuf coupon = Free + overage

One a Day Flinstones is 6.99
      use -5.00 Pulix store coupon + -1.00 Man coupon = .99 cents

I’m going to try the Spiderman vitamins today. They have a -6.00 + -1.00 manu.

I wish you would post the medicine and vitamin deals. Some of them are GREAT deals.

      I love this website!!!!!!!!!! Thanks!!!!!!!

      • Jenny

Thanks Melissa, I’m working on them. I am trying to post everything I normally post in 4 days so that I can go away for the weekend. I wanted to get them in the list last night but at 3 I had to go to bed…

    • Also, the Publix in Locust Grove will not accept Food Lion coupons because there isn’t one near them to be considered a competitor. I sent my husband to the store yesterday with my coupons, bless his heart, and they wouldn’t accept them.

    • I too have the $35/1 birdseye coupon, it was in this past week’s insert. And yes, you can stack those with the publix q- you’ll get free + overage if your store lets you b/c most of the veggies are $1.79 (at least at my store!) hth!

    • Becky
Yes you could use it! Especially if you have three because you are using a Store coupon AND a manu coupon, which is fine and legit. I am going to do the same thing!!
      Paula-
that makes me sick to hear that someone would be so nervy to try and do that. It also makes me mad when I’m the one that gets questioned in the line like I am committing a crime like Elizabeth said.
It makes the ones who are legit and just trying to save money seem like a convicted felon!!
And I also think that Publix employees need to get retrained with the whole coupon policy because I honestly believe they just make up in their head whatever sounds good to them.
Some are just too lazy to take the 5 seconds and scan them…
      Jess
It was in last Sunday’s paper.

    • Jess

      Thanks I found it.

    • sarah

I was in Winn-Dixie earlier today and not only did the have the $55/1 A-1, but there were also coupons on the a-1 display for $1/beef when you purchase a-1.

    • Kristi

The Butter spread coupon is actually for $1 off 2. (in Georgia anyways)

    • Heather

Coupon farudsters are pretty much just fraudsters in general. They will cheat and “steal” in any situation, not just with coupons. I really hope those are the type of people that are just on the Qing “bandwagon” and will stop when the craze dies down. That will hopefully let everything ease up on the rest of us.

**And I just want to add that I LOVE my Publix cashiers! They are sweet and patient and usually very knowledgeable. Which is more than I can say for some of the other stores near me!

    • Pam

      Paula,
It always saddens me when I see people misusing their coupons like this. It does make it hard on legitimate couponers and on the cashiers/stores also.
I do want to say that the Publix cashiers I have dealt with have always been kind and patient. They also encourage me to use coupons. : )

    • Sarah
Where did you find the Winn Dixie coupon? Was it on a receipt? I never shop there so how would I get that coupon (.55 off 1) and also, where do you find the $1 off beef one?? I want to use this at Publix!

    • I spent $7.50 for $65.26 worth of BOGO sale items today. My cashier complimented me on my savings.
@ Paula, I could not live with myself if I tried to pull a shenanigan like that. I agree with Heather, I am sure that they are like this in all areas of their lives.
Jenny, I noticed today that the iheartcvs.com had been shut down by the FBI and CIC. I wonder what put that site over the line.

    • Holly

Where do you get the $5 off coupon from Publix and Jenny what is this cheese book you speak of. Is it a new book, I was just in there last night and didn’t see it. Thanks for all your hard work. It definately pays off for many of us. :)

      • Jenny

The Cheese book was out a month or so ago and in my store was near the Triscuits and Spray Cheese section. I have also seen them in the specialty cheese case. It is a craft booklet about 4in x 4in square.

    • Whitney

      Kate,
Drive 15 min to Thomasville Publix. They take Food Lion and Target and I have found them to be VERY coupon friendly! Good Luck!

    • Alyssa

      Kathryn,
When you get the FBI warning at the iheartcvs.com, it links you to another site (guess what? it’s April 1st…) :)

    • Jess,

It was in our Smart Source 3/29.

    • Shon

      Hi,

I’m also in Tallahassee and the Lake Ella store has stopped taking Albertson’s, Food Lion & Rite Aid Qs. This is a new policy that just started on Friday.

    • Shon

      Whitney,

When did you last use the FL coupon at the T’Ville Rd store?

    • Rebecca

Does Publix not accept Target coupons? I printed one off of Target’s website for Nutri grain bars, and it wouldn’t scan on their register. Thanks in advance for your response!

      • Jenny

        Rebecca,
Most competitor coupons that are true store coupons will not scan at another stores register. Publix has a competitor button on the right hand side of their screen and they have to press that and hand enter the coupons for you.

    • sarah

The winn-dixie coupon was actually in their store at the front entrance. There is a display of a-1 which has the $1/beef coupons attached. The $55/1 peelies are also on the bottles.

    • Lynn

Our store ad was advertising Coca-Cola 18-packs for $4.99. In the store, they had Coke, Diet Coke and Coke Zero available and many of the packs had $1 peelies that made them $3.99. Might be a worthwhile deal if you go through Cokes in a hurry!

    • Jenny
I wanted to say that for the Lays coupon, you have to buy Sara Lee bread and Hillshire farm cold cuts. Then you get a FREE bag of Lays potato chips, making both bags free since they are bogo.

    • Teri

Paula, That makes me sad too that someone would pull what your $300 couponer did. As I read it though, I wondered a couple of things. why would ya’ll let her return all that stuff????? And when there are situations like 1) competitor coupons, 2) frozen or refrigerated food brought back that can’t be restocked 3)price errors so that the customer gets the item free; are you saying that this money comes out of your bonus? How do these affect your store?

    • Jimmy

      Mott’s Applesauce, 46-48 oz jar, at $ 2.73
-.55/1 off any Mott’s Juice or Sauce printable (makes it .81¢ ea)

Can someone explain to me how this is $.81 each? I’ve read around and tried to figure out it out, but can’t come up with a way. Best I can do is 2.73 less 1.10 if they double the .55 coupon? What am I missing here? Sorry I’m new at this.

    • Teri

Jenny, I am unable to open up the page of Food Lion coupons. It says “page not found”. Just letting you know. Thanks!

    • Libby

Last Wednesday I found 50/1 any Ronzoni product coupons at Food Lion.
      Thanks Jenny!

    • Erin Leigh

I worked at a fast food joint for a bit during college, and we had the pictures (more like mug shots) of the people from whom we couldn’t accept checks from. Publix (all grocery stores) should just cut people like the Crazy 3-Cart Bootleg “Couponer” (because she’s not truly a couponer) off from being able to use them. Just put her picture up… that makes me mad for you, Paula! That’s just being a thief!

And has anybody else had problems with the Horizon milk printable? It keeps telling me the page is out of service. Weird.

    • Dianne

      Paula,
I can’t believe that woman was such an outrageous scammer! The nerve of her to take off Boxtops for Education and then bring the items back. I can’t believe Publix would refund something that had been torn up. People like her make it hard on those of us who are trying to use coupons legitimately and appreciate the great service we get in the process. By the way, I was in Rite Aid waiting on a prescription and saw the pharmacy assistant ring up a customer who also had some Advil to buy. She told him she thought there was a coupon in the flyer, found one, and tore it out for him. I was touched at her thoughtfulness and told her so. I love my bargains and I love cashiers who treat me with kindness and respect. Give yourself a big pat on the back!

    • Melanie

      Jimmy,

The $2.73 price is the price for 2 since it is B1G1. The price of 1 would then be $1.36. Subtract the $.55 coupon (which will not double because it is over .50) and you are left with $.81.

      Hope this helps!

    • Erin

Just a note…I know you dont care for Walmart…however our Walmart has lowered the price of Gerber 2nd food to like $ .86 and I also noticed last night when comparing some prices that their 5 lb bag of potatoes was $1.99…

    • Jenn

Hi…JUST STARTED couponing and am having so much fun. Went to Publix today..Did the BOGOs all with coupons. Then I bought Eggs and handed the cashier my target coupon. She said “NO” and I said “YES” and she told me she applied it.
I got to my car and looked at the recpt b/c the total seemed high. Guess what — SHE LIED to me. She NEVER applied it, but KEPT IT.
I went back in, asked for my coupon back! Went to the front desk, and was refunded 50 cents, doubled, with tax, 1.02.
FYI — it’s a good idea to COUNT your coupons before you hand them over…Then you’ll know if they were all applied!
Four bags of publix groceries — 15 bucks! Loved it. But i am Still SUCH A BEGINNER!!

    • Diane

I bought 10 bags of catfood last week when it was BOGO. I had 8 coupons for them along with that I had a stack of other coupons. I saved around $60. I know when I go into Publix with all of my coupons I get looked at and the cashiers go through all of my coupons. I am just floored that someone would get 3 carts full of stuff and then turn around and return them all. That is one reason I hesitate using my coupons.

    • Brandy

Hey. The coupon I had for Swanson Broth in the 3/29 ad was .40/4 cans.

Do you know why we get different ones right here in Lexington than what you may have gotten.

This week is my first week using your site to shop and I’ve done really good at CVS and Walgreen’s. I shopped at Publix on Tuesday and I saved a lot, but since it was my first time there, I didn’t know where anything was. I’m sure after a few more weeks it will get better though.

Thanks for all your hard work!

    • Andrea

      Hi

This is sorta in response to Paula and whoever said they had to put the coupon next to the item: At least on manufacturer’s coupons, doesn’t the computer “know” if you have bought the correct size/number/type of item, so therefore no need to scatter them throughout the order on the conveyor?

I recently had a new-to-me cashier at Thomasville Publix and she nearly had a conniption when she learned I had coupons at the end of the order(luckily not very many that day), but otherwise I’ve never had to do that at this store. I told her the computer would know, b/c I have had other stores kick some out b/c I mistakenly bought the wrong size or number (which I simply ask for the coupon back and go on with the order), but she looked at me like I was trying to pull one over on her. Isn’t that the whole point of having the UPC on the coupon? If I am wrong, and it doesn’t do this like I am thinking, please tell me, so I will be more understanding.

On that one case of the person using multiple coupons and bringing stuff back opened, I really hate that b/c that is the very thing that spoils this for everybody. It’s hard enough without stupid people like that causing more hoops to jump through.

    • Debbie

      Hi Paula
Thanks for giving us your take on the use of coupons at Publix. I can’t believe someone would act like that. That is not a couponer, that is just a thief. I’m sorry your store had to go through that.

    • carolin

Does anyone know how much the Sundown vitamins usually are? I’m not sure which one, but I remember seeing a $6 off 2 coupon in a Advantage Flyer and there is a $1 manuf coupon out there.

    • Christina

We went in to buy some frosting and cake mix and on the side of the frosting tubs there should have been a 25cent coupon…but someone decided they wanted the coupon but not the frosting…figure that one out!

      • Jenny

I feel your frustration. That’s one of my biggest pet peeves.

    • Mary

I was looking at the Flintstone Publix Q and it is for wyb “2”.
      So it wouldn’t be .99

      Still a good deal.

    • Mary

Sorry Jenny has it at the top but post #25 had it .99 .

    • Min

There is a Breyer’s ice cream coupon in the 4/5 Red Plum for 75 cents off according to click deals. That would be 1.24 for ice cream.

      • Jenny

        Min,
I saw one for Breyers Yogurt but not for ice cream. If we do get one for Ice cream though I’m ready!! That’s our favorite kind.

    • Whitney

      SHON,

I was talking about the Thomasville store (not Tville Rd). Sorry, not sure about that one. I was kind of kidding about Kate driving to Thomasville (20 min from Bradfordville).

    • Maria

I was wondering where to find the Knox Gelatin that you listed for last week. (the one with a $4 coupon ). I look in the vitamin section and didn’t find it. I ask in the store but the girl didn’t know. Thanks

      • Jenny

        Maria,

It is near the Jello in the stores.

    • cortney

I am looking in my ss 3/29 and can’t find the Duncan Hines coupons. There were also a couple others I couldn’t find. Am I doing something wrong?

    • Lynn

Being a cashier myself, I always ask for coupons at the beginning of the transaction, in case there is one we need to write in, such as a BOGOF coupon. It’s much easier to write it in as you go, then to search for it at the end of the transaction, especially if it’s a large order. Also, we have an old system and for some reason it will kick out a coupon even though the correct item was purchased. I just wanted to say to please be patient with us cashiers as we will get “marked” if we accept a coupon that is out of date or doesn’t match exactly as written. That might be what has happened when you get a cashier who closely scrutinizes your coupon purchases. It’s nothing personal, we just don’t want management to come down on us and would like a raise at some point.

I love this site and it has made my shopping with coupons easier and I’ve stretched my grocery money a lot farther. Thank you!

    • Jenn
Good for you!!! I would have done the EXACT same thing. If that would have happened to me I would have said “Tell me exactly why it’s such a big deal for you to scan my coupons. Do you not know how?? I can get a manager’s intervention to show you if it’s really that serious.”
I am just so fed up with these cashiers it almost makes me want to apply to Publix again (I worked there in high school) so I can say “Actually I work here and this is how you do it” then go behind the counter and show how it’s done!!! What is their problem?!?!

    • Lauren

A little off the topic, but regarding Folole’s post, what does HCW stand for?

      • Jenny

It is Hot Coupon World. A very large forum that lists deals for grocery stores and.

    • Laura C

Maria, the Knox 1.39 package of plain gelatin is next to the Jello in most of the stores around here (gnv fl). HTH.

Has anyone been able to print more than one of the Knox coupons from the same computer? I may be having printer glitches but maybe it’s a onetime coupon?

    • Shannon in ATL

      Melissa
I have used the Food Lion coupons at the Locust Grove location, maybe you just got a picky cashier. I also use them at the Westridge location on Hwy20, not far from there.

    • Jennifer

I just have to say I LOVE THIS WEBSITE!! I found this site about 3 wks ago and I have saved so much money using this as a resource. My groccery shopping will never be the same…..THANKYOU!!!

    • Laura C I was only able to print 1 Nnox coupon too. Boo!

    • I was wondering your thought on this Jenny. Yesterday my dad was in Publix and he sd that a mgr there kept following him around. Finally he approached my dad and told him, “You know there are limits of the cereal.” My dad told him he didn’t see a sign so he got 10 boxes. Mgr sd that there is a sigh when you first walk in that we deserve the right to limit quantities. My dad sd I understand that but you have no sign up saying how much i can get and would you have approached a woman the had 10 boxes of kotex’s! LOL! He was just making a point. My dad told him he didn’t appreiciate being approached my the mgr and the mgr also had another man with him that appeared to be a customer. Dad also told him it was not good to make him upset because he has 7 stints in his heart. The mgr ended up telling dad that he was sorry and that if dad ever needed anything just tell the mgr and he would special order it for him. What are are your thoughts and I honestly don’t know how I would handle this situation if this was me. I would probably cry.

    • Brooke

They would not let me use the Knox coupon because it was an overage- even the manager. I asked them if I could just have the value of the item and they said no. I know at Bilo if your coupon goes over the value they will adjust it to the value of the item. They were very cranky although I was kind and soft spoken.

    • Andrea

Mentos gum is $.99 at publis nad there are $1 coupons out there from a few weeks ago

    • Gwenn

      No more Motts coupons?

    • Elizabeth

To those of you who are cashiers, I have a question: you said you get “marked” for accepting out-of-date coupons, but I’ve heard that using coupons that are slightly expired is no big deal because stores have up to 120 days after the expiration date to submit them. Can you clear this up for me? Thanks!

    • Meghan

Just thought I would add that I too used to work as a cashier at Publix. I used to have this women come in my line with tons of groceries and a huge stack of coupons. She also used to talk my ear off too which was to distract me. After the 3rd time I started making sure to match all her coupons and I found she didn’t either have half the stuff she had coupons for or she had a ton of expired coupons. It made me so angry and I felt so used. She never came back to my line after that and I warned the rest of the cashiers about her. So now because of her and even though this was over 13 years ago I feel like I’m doing something wrong and I hardly ever talk to the cashier as she scans my coupons because I don’t want her to think I’m doing what that other women had done. I’m getting better about it now and the cashiers all know me and are always very kind and helpful but it is terrible how the actions of one person can affect you and everyone else around you.

    • Tina

      Paula

I am so glad to read your posts and other readers posts. I am a fairly new couponers and I am legally blind too. Since I cannot drive, I have to patronise the store that is close to my house. I have shopped in this store for the past 5 years and there was never problem before I started using coupons last June

It is impossible for me just to go in a store and find a bargain. In fact, I can’t see most of what they call blinkies or peelies so I don’t have them. Jenny you would never know hou much your match up helped me.

A lot of times, I am so discouraged by how bad I am treated at the chekc out that I felt like giving up trying to save on groceries. I have written to the corporate office for claification and written policy but got no rsponse. I don’t buy a lot and especiailly on a bicylce, how much can I carry? But I am treated like a thief most of the time, especially if I try to use the $5 off $30 sent to my mailbox from Publix!!

I read Jenny’s post and other people posting about how good and how much they saved on their weekly publix shopping and I am so envious! I also feel I am such a failure…. I can’t choose the line as I cannot see who is at the counter until I am right there.

Can you advise me waht I should do?

    • Challis

I didn’t know there were so many coupon people in Tally. Nice to see. I didn’t know I would be helping the cashier my giving them the coupons at the start or on top of the item. Usually I am still trying to sort out the coupons that I won’t be using while the cashier works. I’ll try to do better for now on. I’ve always had great cashiers at Publix NE side. Only had one bad at CVS. Glad for the updates on competitor coupons. I’d like to have my deal ready and not have to change at the register.

    • Colleen

      Jenny,
Thanks to your site I saved $112.79 today! Savings of 60%! This is the best shopping trip I have had in 6 months of couponing. Thank you again!

    • Another great Publix shopping experience!! I am getting the hang of this!! (and totally addicted!)
Sara Lee desserts also have a $1.00 peelie on them!!

    • Janet

Just wanted to thank you for your work. I saved $168.00 today between coupons and sales. (62% savings)

I also found a blinkie by the Emerald Nuts BOGO for $1 off each one, which was better than the $1.50 off two coupons I had.

    • Pam H.

      Aymie,
In reference to your April 1st post about cashiers needed to be retrained, yes, some probably do, especially since this coupon craze has started and if they have been cashiering awhile. Some get set in their ways. BUT, on the issue of “just take 5 secs. to scan the coupon”, I don’t agree. Publix systems aren’t set up to kick out any coupon that doesn’t match up. It will take it and then Publix won’t get reimbursed for the coupon. And then our bonus’s and stock is affected. So as a Publix cashier, please be patient with us. We want to keep our jobs as you know how precious jobs are right now. Thanks for listening.
      :)

    • Wendy

Tina-I would go right up to the manager as soon as I went in the store and explain to him your situation. Then explain how you’ve been treated in the past and then ask him/her about any “unusual” coupons that you might have. I’ve found the best thing to do is to go right to the top with my coupon questions. Unfortunately, there’s often not a real “defined” policy on Publix handles particular coupons-so it’s often up to the manager. It also leaves the cashiers with nothing to argue about if you’ve already cleared it with the manager.

    • Brandy

Don’t know if anyone else saw this, but the Fiber One Cereal that is on sale this week has a B1G1 free coupon on the Fiber One Yogurt in each box (except for the honey nut. There are also some .50/1 coupons for the Fiber One Yogurt that came from the Sunday paper, but I am not sure which date. I don’t know the price of the yogurt, but this might be a pretty good deal, especially if it goes on sale soon!

Also, In the Pharmacy flier in Publix they had Hall Cough Drops for $1.09 and there were $1/1 coupons this past Sunday on Halls Cough Drops so that makes them .09 cents a bag! Great deal!

    • Emma

I see a little trend here, that even those who use q’s that are legit, we’re getting nervous about shopping at our Publix with them. I am very careful to match all my q’s and purchases, even though my Publix takes competitor q’s I don’t use them anymore and I’ve found that I break my weekly grocery trip in to two or three stops just to avoid handing over a stack of q’s. This isn’t very easy for me, as I’m shopping with two small (very active) children. Shame on the couponers who are ruining it for the rest of us to save money and buy food for our families…..

    • Marie

      Tina,

Do you have a fellow couponing friend? Maybe you could go shopping together. A local church might have some volunteers to help you do your shopping. I used to volunteer before children :) You’d be surprised how many people are willing to help. Give it a shot. Besides, you may actually help someone else to begin couponing and help them in the process!!

    • Marie

      Jenny,

Have a nice weekend away. You deserve it. Thank you for working so hard for all of us.

    • tonya

fyi…publix honored my rite aid “$5 off $25 front end purchase”. the friendly cashier suggested i use it when she saw me going through my coupons. they’re not all bad.

    • Paul

Hello. I’ve not tried to post before…hope this works. BTW, I’m incredibly glad I’ve come across this site. The store I use is Publix. My question is with regard to:

Horizon Organic Milk half gal. $3.50 ea
-$1 off any Horizon Milk store coupon in Spring Greenwise Mag.

Is the Spring Greenwise located within the store?

      Thanks.

      • Jenny

Paul- I think the Greenwise magazines hit the stores this week. If you want to have it first next time though, go to http://www.publix.com and sign up to get the magazine in your mailbox. The mailed versions have more coupons than the in store versions too!!

Hope that helps. i have a quick lingo guide in the left hand column

    • Tonya
I agree. Sometimes you will get one that is nicer than the rest! I always call and speak to the manager and congratulate on a job well done so they are not just getting complaint calls! Maybe the positive approach will help the others learn something!

    • Christy

Is anyone having trouble with the Mott’s Coupon?

    • Del Monte pineapples were $.99 not $2.99 at my store, just a heads up.

    • Sarah

I tried to use the BOGO Coupon for the Artisian Wheat thins today and they wouldn’t let me because they were already BOGO. The manager said if any store would accept that coupon they would not be following the correct policy for using those types of coupons. I am frusterated. Is he correct?

    • Paula

      Andrea,
No, our registers don’t “know” if you purchase a certain item or if the coupon is expired. We do loose the profit in the store when you use competitor or store coupons…..and yes, ultimatly it comes out of any profit sharing or bonus money that trickles down to us associates.

      Teri,
We take back the returns because it is company policy to make you happy. The policy states “if for ANY reason you are unhappy we will refund your money”.

No this was not a normal couponer. Our regular couponers are honest and good people. We love to see all of you save money.

AGAIN: Ask Customer Service at your Publix (because each does something a little different) what coupons and competitors they will take. Ask first and save time and money. We will even point out coupon flyers and such if asked. We are there for YOU!!

    • Paula

      Tina,
We would be happy to help you. Just ask at customer service if you need additional help in shopping around the store. Some stores will have someone go with you if you ask to help you shop. Also, checking out at customer service (if you have a small order) would be especially convienient for you. We have a “legally blind” customer that we help every week. We even write his checks out for him.

We would be happy to check your coupons for you before you shop to make sure they are not expired. Just tell Customer Service the same thing you said in this post and they will really go out of thier way to help you.

    • Sarah

If any one is curious, this is how I handled my frustration.

      To whom it may concern:

On my visit to Publix today I ran into a problem with the manager. I attempted to purchase the Artisan Wheat Thins which are Buy One Get One Free this week with a coupon that is Buy One Get One Free. This would make both boxes free. The store clerk alerted the manger that I was using this certain coupon. The manager approached me very kindly and let me know I could not use this coupon because the item I was trying to purchase was already Buy One Get One Free. I have never had this problem as I have used a BOGO Coupon with a BOGO item in the past (Macaroni and Cheese Crackers). I let the manager know that I was fine with his policy, but I would not like to purchase the wheat thins as the other Publix I shop at allows me to use those type of coupons. He then began to try and convenience me that this was against the manufactures policy and the other stores that allow this coupon were committing fraud. This manager never raised his voice with me, but I was frustrated at the fact that he didn’t want me to leave the store without agreeing with him.

This certain manager made me feel like I was committing a crime trying to use my coupons. I am very cautious about using coupons in the manor that they should be used, as not to steel from my store or abuse the privilege of using them. I understand that stores have to be careful as there are always people out there trying to abuse this privilege and I don’t mind following the store policy , but I believe the manager could of handled this differently. Following are some examples:

      1. Since all my groceries were scanned and I was ready to check out the manager could of allowed me to use the coupons, but informed me that for future reference these coupons would not be accepted at that Publix store.

      2. He could of suggested me buying one box of Artisan Crackers and getting two free. That way I would have purchased one box and received a free one from Publix and also the manufacture.

Using coupons allows me the opportunity to stay home with my children. It allows our family freedom to give to others in need. I’m sure this manager didn’t understand or see how much he was upsetting me, but I am hopping that he will have the opportunity to see this letter and know that I was not attempting to commit coupon fraud, but I was trying to get the best deal possible as to provide for my family and others.

I love shopping at my Publix store on Valrico/60. The store is always clean and cashiers are very kind. I look forward to many more shopping excursions there.

    • Teri

Sarah, The way I intend to use the BOGO Artisan coupons is that I buy 2 for $1.37 (I think they are actually higher in cost at my Publix) and then they will take off approx. .70 off which they write on the coupon. The actual price this week is half the cost. So the free one is half the cost too which is taken off as a coupon. We’ll see what happens…. If my manager opposes this, I will quickly adhere because he allows me to use more coupons than any of our other local grocery stores. I am truly thankful for what he allows me to do. I too am a stay at home mom trying to make it on one income.

    • MelRae

Sarah: I know FL is different, but here in TN, the BOGO rings up half price. So if I use a BOGO coupon, then I would pay half price for the first item, and then the second box free. Not two free items, but 2 items at 1/4 of the full price.

There is a long discussion about how this works in FL at Hot Coupon World.

My advice to all you serious couponers is to check out Hot Coupon World. They discuss EVERYTHING in great detail about every store and deal under the sun. No, really. But keep coming to SouthernSavers! Jenny has THE best coupon matchup site on the web! I do not go to any store without checking here first!

    • MelRae

And if you think that Publix might not accept a certain coupon you have, I think it’s a good idea to go to customer service and ask before you get into the checkout line. I did this just last week. I had a $3 off any Huggies Natural Fit product coupon. I asked if I could use it for Natural Care wipes, since it did not specify diaper. The manager said yes. So I stacked that coupon with a $1.50 off Huggies wipes Publix Baby Club coupon and got 216 wipes for $1.50!!! The coupon worked fine…it did not beep…and the manager helped to bag my groceries. But I might have been sweating that the coupon would work if I had not asked.

    • Tina

I wish to thank everyone who responsed to my emails. It cheered me. I tried getting the customer service people to check my coupons but they showed their impatience and at times, after I cleared with them, the cashier would not let me use them. My husband is reluctant to come to the sotre with me after an embarassing incidence. I usually made a list, match up all my ocupons and even get my husband to double check for me. He served 20+ years in the army and he won’t do or let me do anything dishonorable. May be it is just this particular store.

Anyway, thanks everyone and happy shopping.

    • Paul

      Thanks for the answer, Jenny.

FYI — There are some Bayer 100ct. tablets w/$1 peelies @ Publix. Also, there’s PULLIES – (don’t know the term) – $1/1 Emerad nuts.

    • Sarah
You didn’t say what state you’re from but here in FL I had no problem at all getting both boxes free…

    • Sarah

I went to another Publix and was able to get the crackers. I called before going though to be sure they would accept them.

      (April 1st, 2009 at 10:04 am )
Yes, many people made misused coupons, but some cashiers just like to give customers a hard time, and try to get their frustrations off on those who use their coupons the right way. Sorry this is the case where you work, but I know for a fact that you do not get extra bonus for double checking customers coupons. Perhaps you should read the manufacture’s coupon policy again to understand that the money that is discount from a manufacture coupon goes back to the store. And when a store does BOGO or offers store coupons that money also goes back to the store, and believe me when I say that your pay check is not directly affect it by this fact.

I’m new to couponing. So forgive me if this has already been posted. Last night I started TRYING to organize my coupons. Oh gosh that was very time consuming. I started couponing in Feb. I noticed that there was a $4 off knox coupon. I had 2 of the inserts. YAY! Also if you have (2) $1 off sundown coupons you can get some overage. I found some Vitamin A 10,000 for 3.29. Buy 2 bottles use the 2 manuf coupons and Publix coupon from the Advantage Flyer and you will have an overage of $1.40. I live in Florida. I always get so jealous when I hear how other states double. Finally I got a good deal on my weekly Publix trip. I was able to get 4 boxes of the Artisan crackers for FREE. Thank you Jenny for this website. I spent 22.26 and saved 56.28 with coupons and sales.

    • Laura

I read that there is a $1.00 off 2 breyers ice cream somewhere in Winn-dixie frozen food flyer. Also I believe there is a coupon in this Sundays paper for .75 on one. That would be $3.09 (or $1.54 each) with both coupons for 2 ice creams. Don’t hold me to it, but definetly worth looking into.

    • Cool Whip blinkies found at my Kroger today for $.65/2 and I also picked up some “Go Organic” booklets in the produce section, it has a manu coupon for $1/1 Horizon milk.

    • Angela

I wanted to say that for the Lays coupon, you have to buy Sara Lee bread and Hillshire farm cold cuts. Then you get a FREE bag of Lays potato chips, making both bags free since they are bogo.
<<<< Can someone post a link to this coupon? I can’t find it.
      Thanks!

    • Kim

I think different Publix stores just react differently. After this week there is one store in our area that I will not go back to. I was given a real attitude by the cashier, and it’s the 3rd time I’ve had problems in that store. (and the other problems were not coupon related) One the other hand, there are two other stores that are closer (just in opposite directions) that don’t give me any problems, are polite and helpful. Those will be the stores that I go to from now on. Sometimes I think that the difference is based on managers, not necessarily on the individual person.

    • Charlene

A special display of Kellogs cereal was set up by the eggs at my store. They were the $1.99 boxes and they had 75 cent off peelies. Then on the endcap I found a tear pad with buy 2 cereals get free eggs up to $2. So cereal was $1.25 after coupon. I bought 12 boxes and got 3 cartons of jumbo eggs and 3 cartons of egg whites (Publix brand) for free! The egg whites were actually $2.19 and the cashier took off the entire amount. We go through cereal and eggs like crazy so this was a great deal!

    • Angela
I saw the coupon near the cheese and milk at my Publix. I cant find a link. I saw the coupon less then a week ago and grabbed two. Look for it in your store. Hillshire farm coldcuts and the Sara Lee bread are both on sale this week so it makes an amazing deal. Good luck let me know if you are able to find it!

craisin coupons $1 off ocean spray product http://www.oceanspray.ca/english/health/pac.aspx

    • Today was my first day using competitor’s coupons and stacking coupons at my Publix. I saved $22 with coupons and then another $45 with BOGO deals. I have some more online coupons I’m hanging onto in case these items come on sale before they expire. I came in at $20 under budget but considering I bought beer, steaks and a gourment item for DH I’m thrilled! I called them before I went and found out whose coupons they honored and what their policies were. They were all very encouraging and shared stories of other customers who coupon. The employee who helped me out eventook the name of this website for herself. FYI – V8 has coupons for buy 4 get $2 off produce and there is an online coupon for $1 V8 that let me print out multiples.

2 for $5.00 at publix, with 2 coupons this will bring them down to $1.50 each

    • Lauri

My Publix in Ooltewah, TN would not accept the Food Lion $1 off $5 Butcher’s Blend. The manager stated they accepted Food Lion’s coupons, but not those kind. Has anyone else experienced this problem. I just accepted what he said and went on, but I was a little confused as to why they accepted all the others except that one.

I was pleased with my trip because I came out with over $50 worth of groceries for only $25!

I cannot locate the Publix Corporate Poicy anywhere on their website. Is there some place on line I can view their Corp coupon policy?
      Thanks so much!

      Thanks

Does anyone know if the Ragu Pasta Sauce can be used with the Ragu alfredo sauces?

      Thanks

There is a Breyers ice cream coupon in this weeks Sunday paper for $.75 off of 1.

    • Lynn

      Hey All –

Just ran to Publix – spent $80 saved $76 but none of my coupons doubled. Can anyone tell me where I could find a copy of Publix’s coupon policy or should I try to call the store and handle it that way?? Maybe an email through their website? I’m not sure….I had almost $18 just in coupons and had coupons for at lest 7 different things that would have doubled. I know it’s not a lot of money (probably $3 or 4) but every little bit helps. I mentioned it to the cashier by saying I thought they doubled coupons and her response was “guess not”…ugh. I have to go back anyways because the Hefty pans didn’t ring up correctly and I didn’t notice it while I was there.

Thanks for such a great site – it’s been so helpful to me and my family!!

    • Shannon in ATL

My Publix (shops at Westridge, ATL Southside) no longer accepts Food Lion coupons, cashier stated the manager had a meeting and said the competitor has to be 5 miles or less away.

Also, no overages for me today, Knox coupon was only for value of product and stacked a Bayer coupon with advantage and cashier reduced amount of advantage coupon….ugh!

Did get 2 Clorox bleach, used .50 off and coupon for free Clorox wipes with 2 purchase…made 3.38 for all 3.

    • Topicana OJ B1G1 on sale at Publix. USe 2 $1 off coupons from Blinkie for Tropicana by the display and get 2 for $1.79. Save $5.79!

    • tracy

Today I found a tearpad near the Sara Lee Classic bread for free bag of Lays when you buy the bread and deli meat. Hillshire Deli Selects are 2 for $7.00. If you buy two two loaves of bread, get both chips for free ( which are BOGO), use two qs for the deli meat and use two qs for the dip (on a tearpad near the chips). I’m ready for Spring Break!

    • Tina

      Paula and any publix couponer

Can someone please clarify on the use of $5 off $30 purchases coupon sent out by Publix, that $30 is for purchase price before coupons or after? It will be easier to plan the list if the policy is clear.

      Thanks

      • Jenny

        Tina,

The $5 off $30 or any type of coupons are usually always before coupons unless the specifically state that (Walgreens coupons are the only ones I know of that say it). Always get these coupons first at any store!!

    • kathyctts

Sarah- about the bogo. In my publix in Georgia, they ring up half price($1.75 each) when I used the bogo coupon, my cashier entered it in the register as worth $1.75. So I got them for .88 each, instead of $3.49.
I don’t understand how you figure they should both be free, as you didn’t fulfill the “buy” part of the BoGo deal!

    • holly

How did you get the $5 off sent to you, did you have to register for it?

    • I’m down in South Florida. The Publix by Homestead AFB does NOT accept Food Lion or Walgreens coupons. They only accept Walmart, Albertson’s, Winn Dixie. Hope this helps!

I saved $81 w/ BOGO & coupons. I got like 14 or more bags for $140! Not bad!

    • Paula

      Tina,
The $5. off $30. is before coupons. Make sure you give it to the cashier first before other coupons.

    • Whitney

      Lynn,
I’m not sure where you live, but my coupons don’t double either. Jenny advised me that in Florida (I think) and south GA (Thomasville GA), Publix doesn’t double coupons…

    • Whitney

Lynn, I meant that Thomasville is where I am..

    • Amanda

Hi, I love this site and all the coupon talk, I always go to the same publix (mostly because my husband is a produce manager there) and I never have any problems (probably because my husband works there), but I wanted to say that whenever someone has a good experience at Publix or if they have a cashier they love they should e-mail there corporate office (not just tell the store manager). It can help when raises are handed out and such. Happy Couponing!

    • Paula

      April,
You are right, Publix gets back money from vendor coupons. Publix does not get money back from taking competitor coupons and it is a loss when we issue Publix coupons. No we never get an extra bonus. We get inventory bonus and stock. When we lose money from any reason, we get less of a bonus and less stock at the end of the year. We double check customers coupons because it is our job and when we knowingly take bad coupons it is “fraud” on the cashiers behalf. Cashiers can be written up and lose their jobs over this. We do not get a bonus (and never have) for checking coupons……we keep our jobs. I don’t know of any cashiers that purposely gives anyone a hard time over coupons…..they are just trying to do what they are told and not lose a job in this tough economy.
My paycheck is not ever effected by your use of coupons in any way, it is only effected by the hours I work. Although if I take a lot of expired coupons or competitors that we don’t accept and so on, my pay will be effected because I won’t have a job.

    • You can also use your $1 off any package of Quaker Rice snacks (from RP or SS?) to buy the Quakes in either cheese or ranch for 2.93. Then, Publix will give you their knockoff of these in their “Buy Theirs, Get Ours Free” campaign and subtract the 2.13 for those off your total. That makes them about $1 per bag. Any btw, for those of you thinking “ugh, rice cakes?” these are actually pretty good…my kids gobble them up.

    • Tracy
LOL I already said all that! I stocked up big time! There is no limit marked on any of the coupons so you can buy as many as you’d like! If you keep the deli meat sealed and the bread in the freezer it will last a lot longer!

    • Rennee

There was a $5 off your other items when you buy $30 of Itunes gift cards. My husband is totally addicted to itunes so this worked well for me & I got 2 $15 cards. I had over $60 in savings combining your deals with coupons this week and had a ton of stuff in my cart that i really use!!!

    • Lynn

      Whitney –

Thanks for the information. I’m in South Carolina (near Hilton Head). I think I’m just going to send them an email via the Publix website and see what happens that way.

      Thanks again!
      Lynn

    • Teri

Does anyone know where in the Greenville, SC area a Publix store takes the expired Publix coupons? (Mine does not.) Thanks!

      • Jenny

        Teri,

I don’t know of many if any at that take expired coupons.

    • Teri

MiniMidgMom or anyone, Where do you get the good V-8 q’s and V-8/produce q’s?

    • Teri

Rennee or anyone, Where do you get the ITunes coupon? Or is it a rebate? Anyway, how do I access it? Thanks!

    • Suzanne

      Hey Paula,
Thanks for the clarification about store vs mfg coupons. I had an idea that the store coupons just were cutting into the profit margin for the store- but they do that to get shoppers in the door.

I love publix and have never had any issues with the cashiers. When they look at my coupons and want to know if I’ve purchased that item, I help pull it out of the bag to show them. I don’t take it personally- they are just doing their job. Cashiers have to be diligent about this because there are people out there who will cheat and lie. You can’t always tell by looking at someone if they are going to be honest or not. But, I will say that my cashiers (in Greenville, SC) do it respectfully- I’ve never felt insulted when they are going through my coupons.

    • Hi all,

Not sure if anyone has posted this yet, but apologies if it is a repeat. Regarding the Emerald Nuts deal, our Atlanta Publix (Windermere/Mathis Airport Rd.) has a little hanging coupon machine by the nuts. We were able to get four of the large canisters (at 2/5.79) *but* also use four $1 off coupons from the little dispenser, too. So ours came out to $1.89 per package. Pretty sweet deal considering they started at $5.79 for one, LOL! Even hubby was excited. So if your store has this, it’s an even better deal than the $1.50 off 2 coupon. Hope this helps others!

And as always, THANK YOU Jenny for doing all this! You have already saved us a ton and we’ve only been doing it a few weeks.

    • Did anyone else have problems with the 4.00 coupon from Pace? My local Publix accepted it but said he was extremely suspicious that it was counterfeit. I explained to him that if i were going to risk breaking the law it would be for a payoff bigger than friggin salsa. I’m a dude and automatically i stand out as not fitting the typical m.o of a couponer. Anyway thanks for all your work i love the site!

    • Lane

I was curious about the Revlon deal listed. Is it acceptable to use 2 manufacturer coupons for one item or am I misunderstanding the suggestion?

Thanks for all you do, Jenny.

Paula, I so appreciate the time you’ve taken to share the perspective of Publix and its cashiers.

    • Teri

I forgot to get the 1¢ item tonight and called back. They said if I bring the receipt in and had spent $10, they’d give me the item next time I’m in. Very nice!

    • Teri

Jenny, Is the Publix yellow flyer out where you live? Its not here. Just wondering about those deals….

      • Jenny

        Terri,

The new yellow advantage buy flyer starts on Saturday. I do have a copy and have the deals set to post tomorrow morning (though don’t go and try to get them before Saturday).

    • Tina

      Paula and Jenny

Thanks for the reply on the $5 off $30 publix coupon. That is how I understood it as I know that Publix gets reimbursed for manufacturer’s coupons. But on more than 2 occassions, the people from customer services won’t let me use mine before coupons! I felt so unfairly treated as I have read all the blogs that customers have been allowed to use it before ! I have been told that I must not use 2 coupons for BOGO or use any coupon that is bigger than the pruchase price. Even 1 cents overage is not allowed!! I read with envy about the Pace oupons or the Knox coupons that you all have used with overage to cover other purchases. I have friends who went to the same store but are allowed to use them. So I don’t know what to expect each time I go to the store. It is very unnerving.

I do fine in Walgreens or CVS as the policy is consistent and standardise. Everyone is being treated the same way.

I just don’t know what to do. Walmart is very far and Albertsons which is close by have closed shop.

By the way, Jenny, which part of Florida do you live in? Thank you so much for allthe work.

      God bless
      Tina

      • Jenny

        Tina,

Sorry that you are having problems with your Publix. I actually don’t live in FL. I grew up there and went to college there (go Noles!), but I now live in SC.

    • Tina

Teri, I think there is $1 coupon for V8 on redplum

    • April

      Paula,
You are absolutely right. I’ve always make sure my coupons are not expired and that I have purchased the right item, as indicated on the coupon. However, as it is the case on my Publix, when the cashier does not double check the coupons that the customer before I had, then it is not understandable. Unless the cashiers are train to randomly selected the customers whom they are to check the coupons from and that to me is like “profiling”…

    • Jessica

      April,
I see your comment on “profiling”. I work at a different grocery store (not one that is even on here). I know at my store, if a customer is pushy, mean or has been known to try to slide a few things in on us we “tag” them. TRUST ME: I’M NOT SAYING YOU DO THIS. Some cashiers will ask to take a break when they see certain couponers walk in the store. We also don’t scrutinize random couponers (the ones who only have a few coupons for a few items). We have to be more careful when you get the ones with stacks of coupons, because that is were the mistakes come in. That is where we find that extra coupons are stuck in the pile. Also coupons for items not purchased and the couponer forgot to take them out of the stack. Expired coupons and so on. We are lucky because at our store our register alerts us to expired and items not purchased, but I know Publix doesn’t have that on their registers.
“Profiling” is when you pick a total stranger and form an opinion on what they look like. “Tagging” a customer is because of past behavior. It is done in every store in this country.

    • Hey just wanted to ad a deal to the list. Wesson cooking oil is 2 for $4.00 this week and there is a .50cent coupon in the march All You Mag…It doubled so it made them $1.00 each!!

    • Amy

I’m so excited!! I live in FL and just made my weekly trip to Publix, I saved $107.49 and only paid 37.91! They tried to give me a hard time on a cvs coupon, but I had called before and they said they accepted them. So I told them that and they took it. Thank you so much for all your hard work!! I love your website!!

    • starbucksgirl

      Paula,

I believe that you are misinformed re: the following:

“Publix does not get money back from taking competitor coupons and it is a loss when we issue Publix coupons.”

In many cases, Publix splits the cost of the publix store coupon with the manufacturer. Publix reduces the cost of the item by half the amount of the coupon and the manufacturer pays Publix for the other half. Manufacturers work closely with Publix on these store coupons. They are not just random discounts by Publix.

      Kelly

    • starbucksgirl

Christy, what page is that Wesson coupon on? I couldn’t find it in my March issue?

      Thanks,
      Kelly

    • starbucksgirl

Paula, do you work at the store at Nippers Corner in Nashville? If so, you are the best cashier in my entire region. We love you! You have the best attitude.

      Let me know!

      Kelly

    • Mike
I had the same problem at my Publix but I told them I got the print out off the internet and I apologized for the inconvenience. If you are nice they usually let you slide through but being a dude that kind of stinks you stood out! Where did you find the Pace printout? I was only able to print one and now I cant find anymore.

    • JenC

Hey everyone! Love this site! We have 4 children and dh just got laid off job; this is helping us so much.

I am encouraged at all your tales of woe at Publix. I was beginning to think I just looked like a criminal! I was so angry the other day I thought DH was going to have to physically restrain me, LOL! I had received the free Diet Dr Pepper coupon in the mail. Well, it looks just like all the other printable coupons, and our Publix doesn’t take IPs over .50 or for free items (new policy). I explained that it came in the mail; she said no, it didn’t, this is IP. I told her she better not call me a liar, and she “shushed” me. I said, do not shush me, I am a customer and you are the cashier. The CSM implied that I had passed fraudulent coupons. I would never do that. I don’t make copies of coupons; I don’t even know how you would go about “making” fraudulent coupons. How does one prove that your coupons are legit? It seems like if they go to the website on the coupon, it would be easy to prove. Most of them have a bar code, id numbers, and microprint around the edges! Are they just saying these things to intimidate us? Are they too lazy/ignorant/misinformed to verify the coupons?
      1) Never going to that store again. 2) Emailed corporate. 3)Any other suggestions?
Thanks for listening. I’m very obnoxious-sounding above, but it was really embarrassing and I wanted to cry (which made me even angrier!) !

Big girls don’t cry…over coupons, lol

    • Christie

This week my Publix (Atlanta) is featuring Boost Kids Essentials (6 pack) on sale for $8.99 ($2 off regular price).

There is an online printable coupon for $5 off each of these if you register here:
      http://www.kidessentials.com/Pages/register.aspx

I was able to print this coupon twice.

In addition, there is a $2.00 off coupon at the dispenser. I didn’t try to use the two together since they are both manufacturer’s coupons, but I grabbed one for future use.

    • Christie

DEAL IDEA FOR PUBLIX USING B1G1 KELLOGGS:

      Use B2 Kelloggs products, get a dozen eggs for free coupon (peelie on display last month or so);
      Use Buy 2 dozen eggs, get Big Red 2L free (4/5 paper);
Use 2 Kelloggs coupons on the B1G1 special.

      Get:
      2 dozen eggs
      2 boxes Kelloggs cereal
      1 2L soda

for the price of 1 dozen eggs and 1 box cereal (less coupon savings!).

    • Paula

      Kelly,
No, that isn’t me. I work at a store in GA. Wish it was though.

    • Paula

      Starbucksgirl/Kelly,
When I say “competitor” coupons that means other stores like Walgreens, CVS, Kroger…..we do NOT get money back from them. We do get reimbursed for manufacturer coupons. When we issue a Publix coupon we know it is money taken out of our profit. When we take another stores coupon, it is a loss. Vendor or Manufacturers coupons are the same- we do get money back on that. The Manufacturers do work very closely with Publix to make sure it is in both our intrests.

I was not misinformed….you just read it differently. Competitor Coupon= store coupons not Manufacturer or Vendor coupon.

    • Meg

Could someone please explain what the different color codes mean for the deals? I couldn’t find anywhere where this was explained…thanks!

    • starbucksgirl

      Paula,

Again, I believe that you are misinformed. You state the following:

“When we issue a Publix coupon we know it is money taken out of our profit.”

This is not entirely true. As I mentioned in my post, Publix splits the cost of the publix store coupon with the manufacturer. Only part of the coupon is taken out of your very large profit.

    • starbucksgirl

BTW, here are Publix’s net earning for 2008 taken from their website:

Net earnings for 2008 were $1.1 billion

    • starbucksgirl

I spoke with my district manager here in Nashville and he is a super guy. We were having some problems recently with internet coupons not being accepted over $1.00 and he helped clear up the issue. He will be speaking with his managers today @ their manager meeting re: this issue. I am confident that everything will be resolved and the cashiers will be trained so that we can continue to use our internet coupons!

      Have a great day everyone!

    • CindyLouWho

Publix would not issue “their” coupons if they didn’t want to get us into the store. If Publix coupons were creating such an overwhelming problem of cutting into the profit that their employees receive, I really don’t think they would be doing it. We are all trying to save money for our families..If you committ coupon fraud, shame on you. If you are a cashier and treat couponers badly and think… “there goes my profit” when you have a shopper with coupons….then shame on you too! Please find something else to complain about, as we are putting 50% off groceries on our families’ tables. :-)

    • Tina

      JenC

I sympathise with you. At least you have a choice of going somewhere else. You are free!

Re: putting the coupon on top of the item on the conveyor belt.

does anyone else think that sounds pretty impossible?? i have a 2 year old which makes it pretty hard to shop in the first place. but even if i had no kids with me, most cashiers are usually quicker with scanning the items than i would be with sorting my coupons, finding the item, place it on top of the offending item (hoping it wont fly off in the process), and unpack the rest of my cart with a ticked off customer behind me thinking im wasting his/her time sorting out coupons.

phew. im not doing it. that is unless i have a small enough order. but in that case, im sure the cashier wouldnt find it difficult to match item with coupon him or herself.

I am sorry that you have to “tag” your customers in such as way, so sad. I think that instead of you doing that, you should report that customer to the manager, so the manager could take care of that problem.Stores have policies for problematic customers. I am sure the manager where you work knows how to handle a problematic customer.

      I agree with you
Just because we are trying to save money people form an opinion about us. I am a true believer in what goes around comes around though, treat people the way you want to be treated. I am sure some people have “tagged” her as a cashier and a person as well.

Awesome site! I have been clipping coupons for years, they sit in the drawer expiring or I leave them on the shelve at the store. I have learned so much in just one day. I went to Publix today spent $19.20 and walked out with over 42.00 worth of groceries!! I love this site!
I found an Ocean Spray coupon @ http://www.bargainmoose.ca/ocean-spray-coupons-1-discount/ It is a Canadian site but I printed two, showed them to the customer service cashier at my local Publix and she accepted it no problems! A giant bottle of cranberry for $1.70!
Forget Facebook, I am addicted to SouthernSavers!!!

I don’t think most people will be able to use that Ocean Spray Coupon. Did the cashier have to enter it manually? That barcode won’t scan in the US system….

You are right Amy, I was emailed the coupon earlier in the week, but hesitated sharing it for that reason. I think she got lucky. Though the fine print does not state that it has to be a Canadian retailer, I don’t know many stores that do international coupon redemption (kinda like slipping in a Canadian coin it’s just not quite the same value).
