Publix Weekly Ad 5/13-5/19

on 5.13.2009 at 3:02am

This post may contain affiliate links. Read our disclosure here.

New Publix deals!  These deals start today 5/13 or 5/14. There are lots of coupon matches this week!  Thanks to Paula for an early look at the ad.

Don’t forget the Yellow Advantage Buy Deals or the Green advantage buy deals.

Check out the Food Lion Printable coupons before you go shopping. Remember that you can use a competitor coupon for house brand items on Publix house brands.

Just to remind you — you can only use up to: 1 manufacturer, 1 competitor and 1 store coupon per item and in an honest coupon world this doesn’t happen often.  Please don’t take advantage of Publix’s coupon policy.  Even if your cashier lets you stack multiple versions of coupons together for the same item, it is not right.  (To clarify — any stacking or use of competitor coupons is up to the discretion of the store management.  Some stores only allow 2 coupons per item, most however allow 3)

**Birmingham readers look for special insert in today’s, 5/13, paper with a $5 off $30 purchase!! (thanks Emily!)**

1. You do not have to buy 2 of the B1G1 items to get the sale price
2. If you do buy 2 items that are B1G1 make sure you use 2 coupons to get the best deal
3. Publix accepts competitors coupons (you can stack with a manufacturers coupon and a Publix coupon too)
4. You can use a store coupon and a manufacturer’s coupon on the same item
5. Most Publix locations double manufacturer coupons that are .50¢ or less

Is anyone else having trouble with the Purina coupon? I have never been able to get that one to print. After I take the quiz, it just takes me right to the screen that says “Got your coupon? Now give back” but the coupon doesn’t print. So frustrating!! What am I doing wrong???

    • Kathleen

the Keebler Sandies were on bogo before and the printable coupon I got specified the Cashew Sandies or Oatmeal/Choc Chip; my store carried the pecan sandies and not the cashew, so I didn’t use the coupon.

    • Libby

If I’m remembering correctly it asks you to pick a local shelter so it can send food to them. After that it prints your coupon.

    • Lara

Kathleen, as long as the first five #s on the UPC code matches up from the coupon and the cookie package, it still should ring through at the cash register. That way you can still use your alternative/variety. I actually did that with those cookies and that coupon last week at Publix and got the plain chocolate chip instead.

    • Any advice on the “my very best kids” coupon? Signed up but no coupon. :(

      • Jenny

        Sarah Beth,

After you sign up for Very Best kids they send a newsletter about once a week that has a personal link for coupons. so if you miss them this week you will have them for the next sale. I would love to link directly to it, but they went this route making it harder for every one :(

    • Alisha

I couldn’t find the stouffers coupon either.

    • jennifer

Confused abt the jimmy dean coupon match. Says $3.99 but with $1 coupon makes it $.99??

    • misti

Lara/Kathleen-the store will have trouble getting reimbursed if you use a coupon that specifies a product that your store doesnt carry to purchase a similar brand that they do carry-the mfg knows whether your store carries the Cashew or Oatmeal and will wonder why they are accepting that coupon when they dont carry that variety…I’ve seen several posts about this on various blogs, I’m sure you can “get away” with it at publix because it will scan, but consider whether its worth it before you do it…just passing info along that I had no idea about when I started couponing!

Jenny-am I missing something with this deal:
Jimmy Dean Breakfast Sandwiches $3.99 ea
-$1 off Jimmy Dean Sandwiches RP 5/03 (makes it .99¢ ea)
-.55/1 off Jimmy Dean Sandwiches coupon on select boxes
how does it become .99 instead of 2.99?? Is it supposed to be in the BOGO section? thanks :)

    • Kathleen

oops, forgot to say… but I still got way toooo many great deals.
I never routinely shopped at Publix until I met up with Southern Savers!! I am so into getting the deals, I still haven’t worked out a storage system for everything. In FL, I am still on last weeks’ deals, which I finally finished prepping coupons w/list (copied from you to a word doc and modified for my coupons and sometimes needs, but mostly coupons– if I have it or you link to it, I’m getting it!)…so today I’ll stop on the way home from dropping the kids off at school. It’s so great to know what’s up for next week.
It still takes me a little while to prep my list/coupons because I am putting off the organizing to get the deals before they are over. Between Wags/CVS/Publix/Target… I have only so much time in my week!

On a related note.. I went to my Winn Dixie to get the P&G Dust Buster deal and the buy 6 Kraft BBQ sauce, get a $3 catalina and one of the managers said they do not accept internet coupons. Since I have been hitting my local library for more coupons, I did have 6 newspaper BBQ Q’s, which were for $.75 off $.88, still a great deal with or w/0 the catalina. BUT, WD is missing out on shoppers if they don’t get with the times and allow internet coupons.

Thanks so much Jenny… YOU ROCK… I roll!!

    • Kim

Just wanted to let you guys know I found 2 really great coupon books at my Publix yesterday. Maybe its old news but there was one from Unilever called Family is its own Reward and there was one from SC Johnson also. Lots of high dollar value q’s. They had .75 off Ragu, Wishbone, I can’t believe its not butter and Skippy, .55 off Country Crock Marg., Lipton Recipe Secrets Mix and Knorr Sides, $1 off Bertoli Sauce, 2.50 off Bertolli Frozen Meals, 1.50 off Helmans, 1.00 off Lipton and many, many more! The SC Johnson had Scrubbing Bubbles, Windex, Pledge, Glade etc etc. The books were on the spinning display in the lobby at my Publix.

    • Emily

Libby thank you so much! I just had to do that extra step. Silly me!

    • Amy

Are there any more Concierge booklets in Columbia, SC?

    • Hey, for those of you who have an Ingles, use your Tombstone coupon there. They have Tombstone bogo this week at 5.58 which makes them just 2.29 each. They also have oscar meyer h dogs bogo and good deals on squash and golden delicious apples. Carolina Pride rope sausage is also on sale which is a coupon match.

    • Elise

I’m having trouble getting the Keebler Sandies Shortbread Cookies Q to print. Had the same trouble yesterday with one listed on last week’s Publix list. It says it’s printing, but never sends to my printer. Don’t have the problem with any other printables. Thanks!

      • Jenny

What browser are you using? There might be one letter off in the link. If you can try the link for the other browser and see if that works.

    • As always, THANKS Jenny! I appreciate everything you do!!!

    • Julie in GA

      Just FYI:

Cape Cod Potato Chips, $2.50 ea
-$1 off any Cape Cod Chips SS 5/10 (regional)

Actually, the coupon says you get $1 off when you purchase TWO bags (8-9oz size) of Cape Cod chips.

: ) Thanks for once again helping me make my grocery list!!!

    • lynn

there wre peelies for the keebler crackers 1.00 off at my publix npr florida

    • Jenn

Sarah Beth, if milk is $2.99 in your area, Ingles has it for $2.48.

Also, there is a deerpark water coupon for $1 off on their website.

    • Jenn

Can someone explain BOGO on a BOGO, please. This is the only area of couponing that I don’t get :o( Thank you.

    • Robin

So, was there ever any clarification on the Jimmy Dean deal? I have figured on it and can’t see how it comes out to .99 either unless it’s a BOGO. And I’ve got 3 $1 coupons burning a hole in my pocket! LOL!!
Another note, those Keebler cashew sandies are FAB!!! I got some last week and they just melt in your mouth, now the oatmeal are hard as a rock, you could use as a lethal weapon!
What would I do without Southern Shoppers and how did I ever get along before I found yall! Thank you! Thank you!

    • Robin

Jenn, BOGO means Buy one, Get one free. Hope that helps ya!!

    • Emily

FYI – The Birmingham News today has a Publix insert (separate from the ad) with a $5 off a $30 puchase. There’s a big picture of a really yummy looking steak on the insert!

      Happy Publix Wednesday everyone!

    • Cori

my ad does not list the jello deal. Are there some deals in store only, or is this a regional issue?

    • Shannon

It looks like the Jimmy Dean Breakfast Sandwiches are not BOGO. So not sure where the .99 cents comes in at. Would be nice because my son loves them. But not seeing it.

BOGO is Buy one Get one Free as Robin said. I think FL and GA is done different. But if you are in SC BOGO rings each item up as half. So you can use two coupons (if you buy two items, which you do not have to do). And if they are .50 or less they double. Which makes the BOGO deals so sweet.

    • Lara

Thanks for this insight, Kathleen. I do not want to abuse policies. This tip was shared with me before. I am relatively new to couponing and I will keep this in mind.

I don’t get the Jimmy Dean deal either!

    • Heather K

Jenn, BOGO on a BOGO is confusing, but if you go to a store that doesn’t make you buy 2 (Publix, Bilo, etc) I’ve never had a problem…If the item is 3.00 and BOGO, then each item rings up for $1.50 each. You give the coupon of BOGO and they take off $1.50 so you get 2 items for $1.50 total…it makes it sweeter if you have a cents-off coupon for the item, too, use that (example .75 off) then you only pay $.75 for 2 items. Now, at Walgreens, CVS, and others that require you to buy 2 items, I have done the same thing, but I have heard that other people sometimes have trouble (cashiers saying you cannot use both coupons). Happy shopping!

    • I think the Eggo coupon is $.75/1 not 2 (at least mine was and I didn’t see any off 2 in HCW database!)

Lara, it’s a common misconception that if the first 5 match you can use them….I only use that to verify, lets say if a coupon doesn’t clarify size or scent of a certain brand of deoderant, I just check the upc code to make sure its ok!

    • rawredbone

Thank you so much for the posting. I have been lurking for a while now but, I have never post until today. I am a true southern at heart now living in MN. I will be traveling home to Atlanta tomorrow for one week. The list will truly come in handy, I will be teaching my daughter how to use do “the coupon savings for life”, is what I call it.

    • lynn

is it just me or is this not a realexciting week for publix

    • Kabba

Hey Jenny, thanks again for all you do..

I just wanted to mention that the LAWRYS sesoning salt has been on closeout for the past week 16 oz for $1.49 at KROGERS so with the .50/1 it will be only .49cents! Just a little heads up!!

      Thanks again,

    • Becky

According to your opening comment on only using one manufacturer coupon, one store coupon, and one competitor coupon per item, would you do the following:

Pillsbury crescent rolls on sale at Publix 3 for $5.00
      Use (3) $.35/1 manufacturer coupons
      Use (1) $.55/2 manufacturer coupon
      Use (1) $.75/3 manufacturer coupon

or is that not an honest way? Your opening comment stopped me in my tracks, and I want to do things honestly, so if I’ve done wrong, I want to correct it!!

    • Kabba

Becky, you can use 1 Manu Q per item, 1 Publix Q per item and 1 Competitor Q per item..so lets say you were buying 3/5..if you had all the right coupons, you would have 9 coupons total, 3 for each item! Hope that helps..

*8orry Jenny, wasn’t trying to do your job..just thought I would respond to her..thanks!

    • Elena

Kathleen: Winn Dixie even offers printable coupons on there website, so they should be acceptable. I had that problem in one store while in another they accepted them with no problem. You can just be firm and tell them about the website and tell them how is it possible they offer, but don’t accept. Hope it helps a bit.

    • Kristina from Kennesaw

If you have competitor or store q’s to use in conjuction with the manufacturer q’s then great! But if you don’t then I would use 3 if the $.35 coupons (one for each item) to get the greatest amout off. If your store doubles then each coupon will be worth $.70off. Multiply that times 3 and you have coupon savings of $2.10.

I always try to use my single item coupons first, especially if they are $.50 or under so they can be doubled. You get the best savings that way. That’s why I buy so many Sunday papers! LOL The more coupons the better!

      Hope this helps!!!

    • Kabba

My gurls looovvee their eggo waffles so when I saw you had it listed there I ran to check and make sure that I had the coupon..and the coupon that I found was .75/1 which is even better!!! so that makes them 0.64CENTS!!!! okay, I’m gonna calm down, thanks!

    • Lynn

I tried to use the Target coupons yesterday in Birmingham Publix and I was told by one store that they did not take 2 coupons(manf and competitor) and told by another Publix that they did not take the Target coupon only grocery store coupons. This was told to them on Saturday last.

    • There is also a flip for the Scott Naturals TP!!! .99cents for tp! lol!

Don’t hold me to it but, I think eggo waffles are going to be bogo next week. Wink!

    • Brandy

Will the eggo waffles be bogo off of the current 1.39 price or the reg. price? Just wondering…if it’s off the current price…then wow, i’ll wait until next week.

    • Caroline

If you don’t live near a BabiesRUs, they have a printable $5 diaper/ $2 wipes coupon valid for Pampers & Huggies big boxes – you can use both one time per visit.
I have used them the last 3 times I’ve gone to Publix and for some reason, they ring up as $7 & $5 off when scanned. The manager has rung them up herself and was fine with it.
BTW – our store is still allowing us to use the $5 of $25 RitAid printable.

    • Just an FYI, You guys who are yelling at my cashiers who are 16,17,18 or 50,60 years of age over a coupon is uncalled for. I understand that everyone is trying to save money but when you send my cashiers home crying, what does that say to you. If you all would READ the instructions of the coupons would help you determine whether you can use the coupon or not. Again, with the mystery coupon, I hope that our corporate office does away with it because you all are abusing a great program that legitimate coupon users enjoy. Some store would even let you have the coupon item as long as you spend $10 according to the coupon. Your recent behavior towards the cashiers is unacceptable. Just remember that one day that your daughter or son will be in that same position when someone is yelling their heads off over a 50 cent coupon. What will you tell him/her then. P.S. Southern Savers.com maybe a great website who is helping people. You have my applause on the work you have done to help people but some of the information is wrong. If you have questions about a coupon, ask someone who works for PUBLIX. They will be happy to help you at any time.

    • Sarah

Ouch, Michelle. You sound very angry. But I am not sure you should be writing an open letter to the Southern Savers couponers!

To answer some previous posts, about how to get down to $0.99, some stores double coupons up to a dollar, so maybe that is how some shoppers can get the price down sso low if you have 2 coupons like that.

    • tonya

i hate that that is happening to the employees. i honestly can say i have never yelled at any cashier. my question for you is…

what can i do to be treated better as a couponer?

every week i feel like they dread me getting in their line. i feel like a criminal for using my 25 to 30 coupons a week.

i saw it was suggested by a publix cashier here on southern savers to…”give your coupons first thing” , and i have been doing that. any other tips?

    • Kimberly

Michelle, I agree with you that no one needs to be arguing and making a cashier cry! I was in Publix this morning (Chattanooga, TN) and the woman in front of me was screaming because the cashier would not take all of her coupons. The cashier was trying to explain that some were expired and some were for products that she did not purchase. The woman proceeded to call her ignorant and tell her she shouldn’t even be a cashier! I felt horrible for the cashier – and went to get the manager for her. Everyone was just standing there! The woman continued to argue when the manager got there and said that “the website said you would take them.” I am not sure what website she was referring to – but it does go to show that some people don’t appreciate the hard work and will argue at any cost. I felt bad handing my coupons to the cashier after that – but I am always friendly and double check to make sure that they are valid! I think we all need to remember that we need to be nicer and more appreciative – coupons should be considered a privelege. I would hate to see the policies at my local stores change just because of some people! Michelle, thanks again! I agree – anytime I ask someone at Publix for help they are always willing to go the extra step to help me!

    • Kim

If you want the Penny Item gone then perhaps you should email your corporate office and request it. Ranting to a group of couponers isn’t going to change a thing. Futhermore, not everyone on here is yelling at the cashiers (shame on those who do), but instead we are contacting the corporate office.

    • Lynn

Has anyone been refused the use of the Target plus manf. coupon?

    • B

I agree that noone should be yelling at cashiers, including those that are not young or old. However, it’s also unfair of you to yell at some of us who are as innocent as your cashiers. You’re making the generalization that only we couponers are rude to cashiers and only the ones on this particular site. You’re doing the same thing to us that someone has done to your employees. The most effective way to take care of such a problem is to deal with the individuals who have acted inappropriately. Would you yell at every one of your Publix employees if only one had been rude to a couponer or other person? And as a reminder, the customers are not the only rude people from time to time and being a teenager or older person doesn’t excuse them from good manners. It works both ways.

    • I kinda think some of these negative comments are spam. When I click on the link in “Michelle’s” name, I getting a warning that it might be spam.

    • Amy

Is the “Family is it’s own Reward” booklet a Breyer’s Ice Cream or Publix booklet? Not seen it yet…

    • Michelle- I have never yelled at a cashier, nor will I ever, and I doubt that 99% of the couponers do/will. I think your post was made out of anger and is directed in the wrong arena. It is an attitude such as that which leads to good couponers becoming upset with Publix and not wanting to shop there.

    • Oh and yes, I should have said, Michelle- if you are a real person.

side question- anyone in Tennessee seen the Summer is here or concierge booklets???
I am desperate for them and can’t find them anywhere!!

    • ET

I was basically a pretty loyal Publix shopper until two new Food Lions opened up which are much closer to me than Publix, one of which is less than 1/4 mile from my child’s school, making it sooo convenient to go grocery shopping after dropping her off. Granted, Food Lion doesn’t double coupons, but for an occasionally couponer like I was, it didn’t matter much. Many of my regular items were less expensive at FL, some weren’t. And the new FL employees have always been so friendly, much like the Publix employees at my regular Publix. So, all that to say that it was just more convenient for me to switch to FL, because my time is worth something and the cost of gas had to be considered. THEN… I discovered southernsavers.com and realized how much money I could save and I learned how generous the coupon policy is at Publix. Thank you so much, Jenny, for all of your hard work! Now that I am an avid coupon user, it is worth my time and the extra gas to drive to Publix. If Publix did not have such a coupon policy, then I would be right back at FL. With the increased competition in our area, Publix is doing the right thing to win and maintain customer loyalty. But with the attitude and unfounded accusations of some Publix employees on this site, I may want to consider switching back to FL because I don’t want to face such an attitude at my own Publix. But no, I won’t do that because then I am also making generalizations assuming that the attitude of a few is the same as the rest. Just because you have some couponers who are rude it does not make us all that way. I am so sorry for the rudeness of some of your customers, but please don’t make the assumption that everyone who uses coupons is the same and that just because we use coupons that we are trying to take advantage of the program and be dishonest. Publix may have customer loyalty in their home state of Florida, but elsewhere where there is more competition, they will need to maintain some promotions or policies to keep their competitive edge and to keep customers shopping in their stores. Along with the items I am buying with coupons, I am also buying meat, milk, produce and other regular priced items, along with an occasional impulse purchase, bringing money to Publix that I could easily spend elsewhere.

    • B

      Also, you said,
“If you all would READ the instructions of the coupons would help you determine whether you can use the coupon or not. Again, with the mystery coupon, I hope that our corporate office does away with it because you all are abusing a great program that legitimate coupon users enjoy.”
Basically, you’re saying we all are not legitimate coupon users. You used that word “all” twice. I read and use every coupon the way it was intended and have never used one inappropriately. Surely, I’m not the only one.

      You also said,
“Just remember that one day that your daughter or son will be in that same position when someone is yelling their heads off over a 50 cent coupon. What will you tell him/her then.”
I’m sure I would feel bad for my child, but I also know that it’s not the end all be all. It’s a great lesson and reminder that we treat people the way we want to be treated and that even if we’re doing that, life is not perfect and sometimes someone will come along and be ugly to us. We deal with it and move on. The same way I deal with it when a cashier is rude to me because I have a lot of coupons. I doubt that your cashier is perfect and hasn’t had a moment of a lack of manners because we all have. You included, based on your rant above.

Finally, you said some of the information on here is wrong and to ask a Publix employee for help. I’m asking you to please help us, set us straight, because I’m sure none of us really want to have a hard time on our end or the cashiers end during our shopping trips. I’m also sure Jenny would like to know so that she can make sure everyone is on the same page.

    • Jan

I do ask Publix employees if I have a coupon question and it seems like most times I get a different answer. This website has provided me with best set of tried and true rules and a better understanding of couponing at Publix. Actually, this website is a major asset to Publix.

    • B

Well said, Jan. I get a different answer every time I ask too.

    • Ali

I can’t found the Kellogs coupon on that link. Any advises?

Thank you for your wonderful job!

    • Megan Martin

Find somewhere else for your craziness. I love this site for many reasons and one of the main ones is that it is not frequented by lunatics like yourself.

    • Megan Martin

Michelle is real. Say hello to her at the Publix in Columbia, SC.

    • Shannon in ATL

…..anytime someone uses the phrase “you all” it speaks volumes and I tune out. Based on your comments, you seem to be the opposite of what Publix strives for.

    • Kathleen

My shopping trip this morning was so successful, between bogo sales, regular sales and coupon match ups, it was CRAZY:

Spent $150 incl. tax w/$210. in savings!!! I was so excited, I texted my friend,my kids in high school (at lunch time) and called my husband at work; tomorrow at lunch w/some friends I am going to show them my receipt!!!

They did balk at some of my coupons though… a manager said they will not accept internet Q’s in black and white anymore because people can just copy them. I was printing in b/w to save money on the hundreds of Q’s I was printing(some of the ones with whole page ad’s for one Q can eat up ink!!)

The cashier and bagger were SO NICE! When the guy bagging saw me coming, he quickly got another cart and I gave the cashier the Q’s right away; she said she uses lots of Q’s too and asked me to guess how much I was going to save. I WAY underestimated. They were both excited to see how much I was saving and I told them I would come back on Wednesdays just to be checked out by them.

      Thanks again Jenny!! :)

    • Delta

      This site has been fantastic!

To Michelle and the other complainers:
DH’s sister and her 3 1/2 year old son live with us and my DH is “Mr. Mom” at the moment. I HAVE to do as much as possible to save money, as I am sure many of us do. As a coupon user, like most of us, I also make sure I am well prepared before using any coupons. This makes everything easier in the long run. The cashiers at my Publix have always been fantastic. I’ve made it a point to let the store manager know on many occations. I also make sure to have coupons in an envelope ready to go and that all are are ok to use. If I have a large purchase I tend to let those with a handful of items checkout in front of me.

    • tonya

maybe “michelle” is spam…she hasn’t responded.

    • Anna

What area are you in? I also print in black and white and will be so disappointed if I can’t use the coupons I’ve already printed.

Is this happening in many places? Should I go by some color ink before I print more coupons?

    • I would like to point out the number of times (especially when I first started) that I went home crying from the store because of a mean/rude cashier….

    • I now love Publix even more!!

I had a small situation come up at Publix last week when I tried to use my $2 off Post Trail Mix coupon. Technically with the coupon I should have gotten 18 cents overage on that coupon because the item was only $1.82. The cashier only gave me $1.82 for the coupon saying they didn’t do overages.

I sent an e-mail to Publix asking them about this policy and the store manager here in Ooltewah called me back personally and said that “a coupon is worth whatever it says. Period” Reason is because if that coupon is $2, publix gets reimbursed that whole amount of $2 from the manufacturer. So he said the cashier should not have overridden the coupon and should have given me the whole $2!! Yey!!

Okay now you’re sayin…18 cents? What is the big deal? Now everytime I go into the store, I won’t be worrying about whether or not I’ll get the overage or not which it all adds up as we’ve seen!

Don’t be afraid to ask for the manager (politely) if these kinds of questions come up. Or e-mail the store.

To me, Publix is kind of like Chick-Fil-A in the sense that 99% of the time, it’s all about pleasing the customer which makes you want to shop at that particular store all the time!

    • Suzanne- that’s awesome! I’ve been saying that the whole time! If Publix (or any other store for that matter) turns in my coupon, they get reimbursed face value of the coupon so I should get the value of the coupon!

    • Kristina from Kennesaw

Which store is “Michelle” talking about anyway? If you’ve got something to say about people shoppong at your particular store, why don’t you specify your location? I would never have the nerve to yell at any cashier over a coupon! That is ridiculous and uncalled for, however I’m sure there are a select few in this world who would.

I worked as a cashier and in customer service for a very long time at a young age (with a drugstore chain NOT Publix) so I know what it’s like to have rude customers, but come on. Don’t go into an open forum and take your frustrations out on the people on this site, who more than likely are not even in your area. But then again, how do we know what your area is when you come on here stirring up all kinds of craziness but you don’t have the nerve to put the location of your store on here?

As for a regular couponer, I get frustrated when going through a line to check out and you have one cashier saying you can do one thing and the next time you go into the store, another cashier says something totally different…same with some of the managers. If you’re not sure about something, definitely ask before you even start shopping to eliminate frustration in the check-out line. But at the same time, all store employees and management need to get on the same page so that there is no question what is allowed and what is not! It would keep little instances like this from happening.

    • Kathleen

~Elena, thanks! I did call my WD and a dif manager said they do accept
IQ’s; they will check them carefully though to avoid fraud.

~Anna, I live in Central FL. The manager said that corporate was trying to think of ways to limit fraud and this is one thing they are considering. She did make it sound as though this store would not accept my b/w ones again. Of course I did have about 25 (of my ~50)that were IQ’s, so that did draw attention to me (and I don’t think they have too many extreme couponers at this particular store).

      Having a blast!

    • Shannon N.

Well if “Michelle” is at a Publix in Columbia, SC, I’m glad I don’t live there! I think I’m going to email her comments to corporate and let them deal with her rather than spouting off here. Not smart Michelle, I bet you are going to lose a good amount of business all off of that angry post…

    • hey for those asking about the Nestle coupons, after you sign up, log in then, go here: http://www.verybestkids.com/Coupons/ExclusiveOffers/Default.aspx

the publix in North Alabama where I live has gone back and forth over competitor coupons in the last few weeks but recently they decided to accept ALL coupons from area stores, even drug stores (yippeee!). I am just really glad they decided what they were doing and now its the same every time I go and no matter which cashier, as before it depended on what day and who checked you out-talk about frustrating!!!! However, they only allow one store and one mfg-the store coupon may be either a publix or a competitor but not both…

    • Heather

The personal concierge booklets are still in Columbia, got them last night.

    • Megan Martin

Shannon- I did the same thing (screen shot of the message right over to Publix corporate with her name and city where her store is located and the fact that she apparently works in customer service). It gets under my skin when someone behaves that way. What an awesome thing it is to have a community of others here at Southern Savers who strive to save money for their families in an ethical fashion. Indicating that Jenny or any others promote “not following the rules” is ridiculous.

    • jmr

On the B&W v. Color coupon issue, I’m not sure how restricting the internet coupons to color is supposed to prevent fraud. There are color copiers at every Kinko’s I’ve ever been to. My office has one also.

    • lynn

micheal iam sure all or most of us would be more than happy to ask some one at publix about the coupon rule but frankly when we do we get a diffrent answere from store to store manager to manager it seem like the coupon rules are made up as you go a long so each tme we go to publix we dont know what your rules are because you dont know what they are we are treated like criminals questioned repeatedly and have to endure rude snid remarks from cashiers who dont want to be bothered with the couponsand the majority of us try to smile and get out with out being furthered embarrassed by your enployies your veiws are so prejudice that they lose valitity when you express yourself in such a angry generilized manner and as many coupon sites out there can you be sure it is some one from here perhapps if you are having this problem in your store that is where it should be delt with…. also i would ask have you been sent to represent publix if soo please notify us of the coorate person who athorized this so we may speak to him or her in a manner that is not so hostile….

    • paige

Whats with the B/W coupons? Is this the 70 when copyer’s only printed B/W. If some one said somthing to me I d have to explian how its 2009 and they have color copies now!

    • My Publix will not accept the Target coupons I printed. The cashier said ‘bacod declined.” Is there a reason why my Publix will not take these coupons?

      • Jenny

Many Publix’s no longer accept Target printables stating that they are not a competitor. It is up to the individual store management to decide who is a competitor for that store. Sorry.

    • Publix employee

I work at a publix and I agree with Michelle. Not all of you couponners are hostile or mean but some of the ones that yell at me are using the excuse that southernsavers said it was okay. I can’t tell you how many times I have heard that phrase and gently tried to explain that despite what they may have heard it is clearly printed on the coupon. I love when you guys save money it makes me excited for you. For me it is almost a game. I know not all of our cashiers are perfect but believe me we are doing the best we can to correct any rudeness problems and training issues on our end as best as we can. I also have access to the complaint and compliment section in our email from the coporate office. The compliment to complaint ratio is very out of whack. I have had many customers tell me in person how much they love our service and coupon policy but not one email. Should they have a negative experience that email normally shows up in an hour. I love you couponners and your thrifty ways and am even envious of your savings sometimes. I give this site lots of credit as a helpful source and jenny does her best. I guess I’m just saying with all the yelling and screaming that is done at the cashiers they are getting beaten down by some that are not so friendly. It is hard to see my coworkers treated as dirt. I cannot be responsible for other store’s actions but I know my store tries as best as possible to enforce our coupon policy without being offense or negative to our customers. We truly want to make it as pleasant as possible. I can assure you the rude cashiers are dealt with and sent to training. The massive amount of coupons coming through sometimes it is hard to keep up with all of them and thus some cashiers do have training issues. If you ever have a problem please ask someone at the desk they are the most knowledgable as far as what is and is not acceptable. We are not in the business to lie or cheat to you but I know my team and I are striving to actively make it a pleasant experience for you all and you should not feel like criminals. Just be paitent with us please. We will gladly accept all legitimate coupons and straighten out any issue within reason if possible. I know times are tough and trust me we work in a grocery store we are all in the same boat.

    • I was n Publix today saw that they had the 8oz of Daisy Sour Cream for 99 cents which is their reg price. After your 50 cent coupon it make it free.

Are there any more Concierge booklets in Columbia, SC?
      Yes! The Harbison location

    • Jennifer

I live (near) in Columbia, SC and I have to say that while I do not excuse Michelle’s actions at all, I can understand her frustration because, I too, as an ethical couponer, have just about reached my breaking point with what is happening at my local (about 6 stores nearish me) Publix stores and what I have heard is happening. There are a lot of things going on and I started to write all of them out but it was quickly becoming a book. Suffice it to say that there is someone(s) out there making things much more difficult for the ethical couponers (which is how I refer to myself).

The bottom line is that the Publix corporate office needs to establish a coupon policy that is clear and available. Until they do (some) couponers and (some) employees will continue to butt heads over the coupon issue with (some of) the couponers feeling like they are being treated as criminals and (some of) the employees feeling like they are going to get in trouble or are being cheated.

I am beyond certain though, Michelle, that the person(s) to whom you are referring do not follow Jenny’s site. While I can understand your frustration we are not the proper forum for you to vent your frustration, rather you would be doing a better service to yourself, your employees and your customers to address your concerns regarding the coupon policy with your corporate office. I know that I, along with many other couponers, would welcome a clear and consistent coupon policy handed down by the Publix corporate office and applied to all Publix stores.

      /end of hijack/

Now, I’m not too excited about this week’s deals. Maybe this will be the week that I get to take off from shopping.

    • Jennifer

Megan, there are a ton of stores in Columbia, SC. Where does Michelle work? I would like to say hello to her the next time that I am in her store and perhaps I can be an example to her that not all couponers are as she has described, especially not Jenny’s readers.

I’m the same Jennifer as comment #76. There are so many Jennifers around that I felt I should claify that. I noticed a comment above after posting my response…

    • Christine

Does anyone know if the printable Cranergy q is part of the b1g1f??

    • Christine

Is there any place online where I can view the Publix ad today?

    • tonya

go to http://www.publix.com and click on “weekly ad” (at the top).

    • jmr
    • Megan Martin

Jennifer: I just pulled that info from her myspace so I would look at the link and see if you recognize her. She works in customer service no less!!

    • Melanie

Christine – the weekly ads are up on the Publix website today.

    • ddawson

I just went to my Publix and the Cranergy 4 pk specified on the coupon was part of the BOGO!

    • Pegie

I am a Publix customer service employee in Georgia. I understand how Michelle feels and it is easy to vent here because there are times when we are treated badly. Nearly every time that I have been yelled at by a couponing customer it is because I would not allow them to break the rules and cheat our company. It makes me really angry but I am also able to call a manager to intervene. Most people who come into Publix do not try to cheat the company they are just like many who use this site and are only trying to save as much money as possible. These are the people that I congratulate when they leave and let them know how much they saved on that particular day.

I tell many people every day I work about this website and how much it has helped me save money on my grocery bill. I for one really appreciate the help that you all are providing to me and to many others.

    • Publix employee

how do you guys know that michelle is really michelle? Before you go spouting off to coporate to get this person to lose her job maybe you should see if its the right one. There are no defining details in that post nor if you read it is it negative. She commends jenny and addresses unethical couponers because she knows some of these use this as a source for their coupons. She even states she is happy to help. Before you all get into a rage over a post that could easily be ignored and is a voicing of opinion from the other side perhaps you should listen to it. Everyone is titled to their opinion and I seriously doubt she’s going to spam the site…just making a statement…maybe reading the post instead of becoming emotionally investment is better. Besides if you are an ethical coupon user there is no reason to get mad or go elsewhere. It clearly addresses unethical use.

    • Jillian

Michelle, Please don’t categorize all couponers. I am sure that there are people out there who feel that a piece of paper is worth arguing over, but I can assure you and anyone else that questions this behavior, that this behavior is never been condoned by Jenny. I attended one of her workshops and she stressed the importance of ETHICAL coupon usage. I can assure you that this is not the appropriate site for this kind of ranting and raving. Try redneck couponers.com.

    • Becky

Thanks for the responses to my question! I truly appreciate y’all’s advice!

    • I wanted to add that none of our Publix stores will take a store and competitor q for one item. Their policy is “one ‘store’ coupon per item”, be it store or competitor. You can stak manu q’s with store q’s OR competitor q’s, but you can’t use two store q’s together.

    • oh, I got a Target coupon booklet in the mail and it has a $.75/1 Frosted mini-wheats q in it.

    • lynn

i cant get the cat food to print if anyone cam help me to see whay i am doing wrong would be greatfu thanks

    • .Jennifer

I’m the same Jennifer as comments #76&77 it’s just I am home now…

I, for one, do not want ANYONE to be fired, especially in this economy, but my husband and I have both worked (and my husband continues to work) in retail management and agree that we would want to know if an employee is reacting to customers this way if for no other reason than that directing that kind of anger towards customers is not appropriate. I understand Michelle’s frustrations. I would understand her venting on a Publix employee website, or to her friends, family, coworkers, supervisors, etc but the fact that she is frustrated does not make it appropriate for her to come on here making accusations and directing these statements towards the readers of this site and Publix’s customers.

    • Ethical couponer

I agree with you Jennifer. This kind of behavior from Publix employees, such as Michelle, is really turning me away from even shopping there. Actually I prefer shopping elsewhere.

    • Coupons4holly

My Ken’s coupon was for $1 off 2. Is there another one out there for $1 off 1?

    • jennifer

Someone may have already caught this but coke can products are on sale instead of pepsi. pepsi is on sale at kroger. This means we can use our coke coupons making them 1.75 pack!!

    • brenda

I can’t find the pepsi deal in my sale paper? I’m in Birmingham. Is it different?

To make it more clear, coke is on sale at PUBLIX!

    • Val

Are the Cokes or Pepsi on sale? It says Pepsi Products 12 pk Buy 4 at $3 ea Get 1 Free (makes it $2.40 ea.)

    • Teri

Jenny, Will you write up the Bloom’s info since it is a triple coupon weekend this weekend? Thanks!

    • tonya

i don’t understand the coke sale…and i don’t want to get confused like i did on the last deal and miss out.

      the ad says…”buy 3 get one free…12-pack selected coca cola products…’save up to $9.57’…(individual 12-pack, each…$3.33.)

what EXACTLY do the coke 12 packs ring up as? is it $3.33? deduct the $1.00/off 12 pack would make it $2.33…right?

could someone who is experienced please clarify for me.

i get confused with all the lingo.

    • Our ad has Pepsi on sale, buy 4, get 1 12 pack free.

    • jennifer

VAL, coke is on sale at publix(buy 3 at 3.66 and get one free). There were coke coupons posted abt a week ago. Above states pepsi is on sale but my add says coke. Pepsi is on sale at kroger for 2.44, maybe Jenny got them switched?

    • jennifer

Been reading some other comments and I think adds are varying by location but my publix has the cokes on sale!

    • April

Is it a Publix corporate policy to stack one manufacturers with one store coupon.

I was told by my Publix management today that they will only stack manufacturers coupons with Publix store coupons.

He said they will take competitor coupons (Food Lion, Kroger, Ingles, Rite Aid, etc.) but will no longer stack them with manufacturer coupons…

I know that each store can choose who their “competitors” are, but I’m just curious if “Stacking” is up to the individual store management.

    • I LOVE your site….Thank you for all the hard work. I follow your site daily! Great Job! Thanks again.

    • I have looked at ads in different markets, some have pepsi on sale and some have coke products on sale this week. I live in the atlanta market and our ad has pepsi on sale, columbia, sc has coke, so I think the different markets vary.

    • tonya

another CHEERS for YOU! if we don’t tell you enough…we are sorry. get caught up in all the DRAMA! LOVE IT! who needs days of our lives? LOL!

    • Courtney

I went to Target today and a lot of the same Kraft items that had the printable coupons were on sale which made a lot of them 0.99 or free for me such as Kraft Mayo, Kraft Shells & Cheese, Nabisco 100 calorie packs, Kraft Dressings, Nabisco Graham crackers. Just wanted to pass this along.

    • Tamara

I was in the Publix on Hwy. 6 in Irmo area tonight and they had LOTS of the coupon concerige books right at the front when you walk in by customer service. I am in this store several times a week. Even last night I was there and they didn’t have them yet and tonight they did.
I cannot find the “Family Coupon” book with the Breyer’s coupon. I would love to have one and havent’ been able to find it. Do you all know if any Columbia area stores have it?

    • Angela W

There’s two q’s in the FL racing booklet from 5-3 that match up with publix this week. 75 cents off Lipton tea, and 2 free Pepsi 2ltrs when u buy 2 family size Frito-Lay (BOGO Dorito’s).

    • Emily

Did anyone clarify where you find the “Family is it’s Own Reward” booklet?

    • Dede

I went to Publix here in Lilburn, Ga yesterday with my 5 month old daughter. I spent 2 hours gathering all my groceries and made my way to the checkout. I placed all my groceries on the belt, and proceeded to hand my stack of IP & newspaper coupons to the cashier.

She then told me she had just gotten a memo stating they couldn’t take any coupons without a watermark. Of course I’m so upset I’m about to cry at this point. The cashier was very apologetic, and called the customer service supervisor, and then called the manager. I was trying to explain to them that the coupons directly from manufacturer’s sites and also smartsource don’t have watermarks… they wouldn’t take it. They said they wouldn’t get reimbursed from the clearing house.

So I asked for the number to corporate and all the pertinent store information – store number, cashier’s name, managers names who I had just spoken with. They asked me if I still wanted to use my ‘legitimate’ coupons. To which I said no, and told them each IP coupon has it’s own pin number or upc code and you are allowed to only print so many. Honestly… tears.

So I went to the parking lot, got in my mini-van and called the corporate office. I spoke to someone in customer relations who said ‘a watermark, really?’ She said she would be calling the district manager and he’d be giving me a call back. So he called 2 hours later and my husband spoke to him. He was super nice, apologetic, and said he’d be calling the store right now to find out why they’re doing this and I should go back, check in at the CS desk, and let them know he sent me in with all my coupons.

The District Manager said the fraud they are seeing is associated with ‘bring this coupon in and get 10 items free’ scams. He said ‘I’m on Smartsource right now, and none of these have watermarks, even I know that.’ I’ve worked in retail at the district level, so I know stores can become a little too big for their britches – so call corporate, and they’ll get you in touch with a district manager.

It’s very upsetting printing coupons, matching up deals, dealing with this economy, and then being told my coupons aren’t legitimate. Also – Smartsource has a Publix store relations person in house…. of course we called them and told them they were losing out on big money because some Publix stores were refusing their coupons… they weren’t too pleased with that one. Call them….

How funny! I’m watching Days of Our Lives as I’m reading and typing on here! LOL

    • joei

can someone please help me with the stouffers.. I have been signed up but no coupons in my email. HELP!

    • Learning2CouponFL

I had no problem finding the Concierge booklets at two different Publixs in Central Florida. At one store, they were in the spinning rack in the lobby with the weekly ads. In the other store, there was a free standing refrigerator case near the dairy section that had a cardboard display with the booklets attached to it.

Where have you found the “Family is it’s Own Reward” flier? What’s on the cover? I’ve checked the spinning racks at two local stores and kept my eye out while I did the rest of my shopping but with no luck so far. I’d really like to find one before I got shopping for this week’s deals.

    • Paul

Hi there. Didn’t read all posts to see if someone else caught this, but the

-.45/1 off Shedd’s Spread RP 4/05 (makes it .04¢ ea)

is actually in the 4/05 Unilever.

    • tonya

i had my cashier tell me some of my coupons “didn’t have what she was told to look for”…whatever that is. i was a little upset as well because i always make certain my coupons are the real deal. i only use newspaper inserts, smart source, coupons.com or a specific item’s website (ex: betty crocker). so, i don’t know what she was “looking for”, but i’d love to know so i can make sure all my coupons have “it” to avoid any delays at checkout.

      South Carolina Folks….

My nephew just started University of South Carolina this week on a football scholarship…so… he eats ALOT! Thanks to Jenny I am about to send him his first box full of goodies but I have a question.
During the summer he is given cash to purchase his food since the training room does not serve meals. He has gone to Walmart but I would like for him to go to Publix for the deals to make his dollar stretch a bit farther. He is used to pinching pennies since his Dad has been on disability almost his whole life so he will do well.
Is there a Publix close to campus, are they coupon friendly and does the local paper offer a good variety of coupons or should I just send him those from the Atlanta paper?
      Thanks guys!

    • Lynda

The coupons that I have printed on my color printer have a “watermark” of the manufacturers name or logo behind the “save” amount. If you are printing on a laser printer in black only, that “watermark” may not show up. I don’t know if that is what the cashier was told to look for or not. Maybe try printing online coupons on a color printer and see if that helps avoid the delays at checkout.

    • There is a new McCormick GrillMates printable for 50 cents off. If your store doubles this will make them free!!
      printable (IE) printable (FF)

    • Shannon- Atlanta coupons are better and there are two stores close to campus. Gervais street store or Rosewood. Gervais is more coupon friendly!

    • becca

My black and white printer prints the “watermark” on printable!

    • Terri Pace

      Emily & Lynn-
About the Purina coupon:::After you take the quiz, it takes you to a screen that says “Got your coupon? Now give back” Under that you should see a box for your zip code. After you enter the zip, it will take you to a page to pick someone in your area to give back too. Then you have to give your name & address or just your E-Mail. Now you will be able to print the coupon.

    • Ashley

When I printed some coupons in black ink only (laser), the product’s logo or company name was grayed out behind the “Save xxx”.

I don’t like the drama on here, but I still need Days of Our Lives……

Jenny~ THANK YOU SO MUCH for all that you do!! I’m now officially addicted, and check your site daily. :)

    • Dianne

I purchased the Bic Multipurpose Lighter (located with charcoal) yesterday for .74 since it’s B1G1 and I had $1 Q. The package had a $1 Q for charcoal (no particular brand stated), which would work well with the Kingsford Charcoal $6 off pork Q.

Also, reading recent posts inspired me to write a complimentary e-mail to Publix bragging on the excellent staff at my Publix. However, my coupons were scrutinized almost excessively yesterday and I was told they were “cracking down”. Next trip I will place my coupons with the items to help the cashier and hope for easier (and faster) time through checkout.

    • tonya

so…if there is no “watermark” on the coupon, it is not valid? i have several that do not have a watermark. for instance the $1 off 2 tombstone pizza’s and the $1 off lysol nuetra air. i don’t want to use them if they are not legitimate. the tombstone pizza one came from smart source (it says on it “powered by smart source”). the lysol neutra air one came from that home solutions website. there was a link for it.

Does anyone know at which store in the Columbia area that “Michelle” works? I hope it is not the Forest Acres store. I just moved there and have had no problems. Eveyone I have dealt with there has been very helpful! But I do not want to shop at a store where the customer service reps do not like people who use coupons!! I would never yell at a cashier and always make sure to use coupons only the way they are inteded to be used!

Also, I was wondering how the the mystery penny item coupon system has been abused? Is Michelle talking about purchases being less than $10 after all coupons? No employee has ever questioned my use of the penny item coupon and I love that incentive!!! The penny item as well as Publix’ outstanding coupon policies are the main reasons I do the majority of my grocery shopping at Publix!!! I hope they don’t change!

    • Tamara

still no answers to the Family it’s own reward coupon book. Who actually has one of these and where did you find it? do they actually exist???

    • Tamara- I have one, i found it on the turnstyle at one store and at the register at another….

    • Angela W

Amy – Was this in Columbia? If so, which store location? I NEED that Family is it’s own Reward booklet!

    • Angela,

I found them at Gervais (Mon) and Rosewood (Wed). Hope that helps!

    • April

This may be a dumb question, but I am a newbie. Will Publix accept the Food Lion coupons on things like Enfamil baby formula and Earth’s Best baby food? Or does it have to be used on a Publix brand? I am trying to get into the swing of this whole thing. Thanks!

    • Christine

      Hi Dede post 119,
Did you go back and get all your stuff? Sorry you had such a lousy Publix day!

    • Katherine

Does anyone know in the Atlanta area if Dr Pepper is included in the Pepsi deal this week? Some stores include Dr Pepper in the Pepsi ad because they are the distributor and if so, can the buy 2 get 1 free dr pepper publix coupon be used?

    • Yes, Katherine, Dr pepper is included…I just left publix and I was thinking the same thing…my DH loves dr pepper and I can get 7 12-packs for $12, hopefully. It stated individual packs will ring up at $3 each. This will be a great deal for me!

    • lynn

is friskies cat food made by purina?

    • Bonnie in ATL

      Hi friends,
There is a $1 coupon for McCormick’s in the “Save Money, Save the Planet” booklet at Publix. Free Grill Mates!

    • Paula

I am a Publix Customer Service Staffer. Publix does have a Coupon Policy which is clear. The manager of each store choses which coupons they will take.
Yes, we have couponers getting irate with us often. Yes, I can understand thier frustration at times. We are just doing what we are told to do in order to keep our jobs. We are sorry if we have to tell you we can’t honor your coupons. We are sorry we can’t take every competitor in the world. We are sorry we can’t take expired coupons…..but that is what our job entales. We must do our job as it is told to us.
I went to another Publix today (not my store), I gave the cashier a Walgreens register rewards for $1.00 (which was clearly marked Manufacturers Coupon). I know we take Manufacturers Coupons, but the cashier asked the Customer Service Manager and she said that “we’ll take it but we don’t get credit for it”. I told her that I knew Publix did, that I to was Customer Service and she stood her ground and said “no – you don’t”. If they said they wouldn’t take it, that would be fine. I would have used it another day. No big deal.
I just don’t understand the yelling and attitude over a buck or two. Isn’t it embarrassing to cause a scene over something so petty?
I will tell you that we remember those that are trouble and we are VERY careful with thier coupons the next time they come in. I have had cashiers say “here she comes” they bite thier lips and hunker down for the search for anything out of place or least bit questionable. It is human nature to do this.

Thank you to Publix Employee who says everyone has a right to have an opinion. In this society that isn’t always true, but we can keep trying.

    • Has anyone in the Nashville TN area found the “Family Is It’s Own Reward Booklet”. I’ve not been able to find it.

    • tonya

all i am asking is to be treated with the same kindness and respect that the cashier should be treated with…nothing more…nothing less…period. but i am not frequently.

    • Mina

Shannon in ATL – There are two Publix very close to campus. The one at Huger St. and Gervais is within easy walking distance. It’s the closest real grocery store there is to USC. There is also one on Rosewood Dr. That one is closer to a few of the athletic facilities.

    • People please calm down. I know that couponing has increased dramatically in the last year so please practice a little kindness here on this board. Michelle was probably venting after a very long day, feeling like the hours and pay just don’t seem to match up, just like the rest of us do sometimes. Paula has been very helpful in her comments and does not seem to be on a soapbox. I welcome a Publix voice on this website to show how much validation Jenny deserves for keeping this site up for all of us. So let’s just all calm down, be thankful for the blessings each of us has and continue to be good stewards of what money we have to spend for our families and remember that the cashier on the other side of us is just like us.

    • Shannon in ATL

      Thanks Mina!

    • Kim

I’m sure that the Publix Corporate office would greatly appreciate an off duty employee representing their company in such a way. How blessed are we? We have our very own “authority” on Publix.

    • Delta

Hey Tara, I’m in Smyrna, haven’t found them here :(.

    • Elizabeth

      To Publix employees:

I think that most everyone on here can agree that it is completely wrong to yell at store employees over coupons. I would *never* do that in my life. I have had plenty of legitimate coupons turned down. I’ve had people alter the amount of the coupon, so the store gets reimbursed more than I got discounted. I have even been plainly accused of ‘coupon fraud’ (not at Publix). The most I have done is ask someone to void the items that they will not take the coupons on. Then I go to another store and use them there. It’s very aggravating when you are using legitimate coupons and you are treated as if you are stealing or something. But I also understand that cashiers do not want to get in trouble for taking coupons if they aren’t sure the coupons are okay to take.

My point is, you are coming on to a website with a large following, and you are speaking to all of us as if we yell at cashiers. If you came on here and said that there are some couponers who yell at you, that would be one thing. I can really feel for you in that situation, and I would call for those particular people to be kind and stop doing that. But that is a small percentage of the people who follow this website. I am so concerned about going to Publix and being viewed in such a negative light when I hand over a stack of coupons.

I have never heard anyone tell people to yell at cashiers on this site, by the way. That would be so ignorant. If I saw such a comment I could not let it go by without calling that person out. I really don’t think anyone would tell you that ‘southern savers told me to yell at you’. Come on. Really?

    • Kim

I checked for the 2 new coupon booklets at both the Bells Ferry Publix (Kennesaw) and the one at the corner of Bells Ferry & Barrett Pkwy – they both hadn’t seen it yet. Oh, Towne Lake (Woodstock) also said that they didn’t have it yet, but had heard about it from customers.

    • I’m almost scared to go to Publix this week! LOL…but I still plan to take my chances.

    • Robin

Kim- I will check all the stores I pass on the way home today for the new Unilever booklets. 41 & Jiles, Brookstone, and Lost Mountain. I’ll grab you one of each if I find them.

    • Rebecca

Dede, comment #119, which store in Lilburn did you go to? I go to one off of Highway 78 and Killian Hill Road (it is considered Lilburn. I went there the other day and used some IP coupons and was not told that. I am wondering if you shopped at the same one?

    • Paula

We have had couponers come in and say “Souther Savers said to stand our ground”, and for some that means pitching fits, yelling and refusing to leave until they get thier way. This is hard on us because we are also told to stand our ground and do our job. I think “Michelle” had a super bad day and vented (maybe in the wrong tone). I too have had to send cashiers home after they were made to fall apart and could not collect themselves to the point of being able to account for the cash they are in charge of.
I keep posting on here to check at your local Publix before you shop on the particular rules that store has pertaining to coupons. Sometimes you need to check every time you shop. It is up to that stores manager on what the store will take. Also, how many fraudulent coupons we get within that week (our walls are loaded witht them in the back room). I have many wonderful couponers that stop by the desk and just ask “anything change with coupons?” each time they walk in. We are very very happy to tell them, sometimes we even offer them coupons that we may have at the desk.
We love our happy couponers, and love what they can save. It teaches us how we can save too. But again, if we inconvienence you at all, it is because we are told to and truly we get in a lot of hot water for not following the rules to a “T”.

Tip for Couponers looking for certain booklets or flyers:
Ask at the Customer Service Desk if they have any at the desk. Many stores have gone to putting out just a few at a time because we only get in a few (our allotment) and we have some couponers that come in and take the entire stack of flyers in one fell swoop (more often than you know). So ask at the desk, they will give you one or two if they have them there.

    • Katherine

I have checked at the Publix in Dallas, Powder Springs and Seven Hills and none of them have the booklet either! :-( I was REALLY sad about the Seven Hill Publix because they almost ALWAYS have the coupons when the other stores don’t.

    • Shauna

I am super new at this and I just don’t get it! I was trying to figure out the kellogs cereal deal, B1G1. I have 2 $1 off coupons but using the senario that jenny posted I still dont’ see how they end up being $0.54 a piece. Can someone explain it to me. Thanks!

    • Melissa

I am totally excited. I just spent $74 and saved $97!!

Anywho….I found another coupon booklet while I was shopping today. Not sure if it has been mentioned already, but it is called “Summer is here” and I found it in the Apron’s sample station. (Where they cook the recipes, and have a cooler with all the ingredients right by it.) It has some good ones in it.

    • Kim

It has the $3 off Kingsford to go with the $6 off pork deal. I love the Summer is Here booklet. <3

    • Amanda

I love this site. I have been a loyal Publix shopper since living in Lakeland, Florida-where they are based. I haven’t ever noticed all of this drama in the comments and find it pretty ridiculous.

That being said-I just wanted to compliment my local store in Lexington, SC-amazing staff-each and every one!

    • Kristina from Kennesaw

I have regularly been checking the Bells Ferry location for the “Family Is It’s Own Reward” booklet, but have had no luck so far. I have gotten the Concierge/Unilever book from there. They’ve had it for a week or so and still had some out when I was last there Wednesday night. It’s over on the other side of the slanted aisle near the first register. They’re on a large box display with Unilever products on it.

Hope this helps some of you in the same area. If anyone does find the other one around here, please post so I can head that way and grab one! Thanks!!! :)

    • I have been shopping at our Publix since it opened ( over 17 years ) and my daughter worked as a cashier there in high school and in the summers during her college years until she graduated. I love Publix and their employees have been always nice and helpful. So I am always nice too…very simple !

To prevent any confusion with my coupons, I stop by the service desk BEFORE I shop and ask for a manager to approve a coupon deal if I’m not sure. Then after approval, I do my shopping and if the cashier has an issue with anything she can call the manager to verify that it’s o.k.

I also check very carefully everything on each coupon before they are redeemed…the cashier/manager doesn’t like surprises and neither do I !

I can’t imagine anyone I know who is a couponer brow beating and causing a cashier to cry !

Mean comments say more about the commenter… (than her intended targets)

    • Christine

Thanks Jenny and all her helpers! I love this site!!

I was wondering if any Central Florida (I am in the Southeast Orange County area) SouthernSavers would be interested in a coupon swap. We could meet at one of the library branches-they will let us use one of their study rooms to keep all the kids corralled. I have lots of baby, dog, cat, vitamin, and cleaning Q’s-I would hate to see them expire! So send me an email if your interested- bemartie@hotmail.com Thanks!!=)

    • Tara- no- have not found this anywhere, I just asked someone in Fla to send me some!! We never get the good booklets. :(
I haven’t found any of the newer ones- Summer is here, Concierge book, Family is its own reward, etc. I DO ask at the cs desk and they always say all the coupon books are out.

    • Oh, and regarding Dr. Pepper. DH works for Pepsi, and it depends on where you live, and which company distributes Dr Pepper in your area. Some areas pay Coke to distribute Dr Pepper (like here in TN) and some pay Pepsi to distribute Dr Pepper (like in Atlanta) So depending on who distributes Dr Pepper will mean which one it’s lumped with for specials. Make sense? So if Pepsi distributes Dr Pepper in your area, then any Pepsi sales will likely include Dr Pepper, but if they are distributed by Coke, then Coke sales will include Dr Pepper.

    • tonya

that is good advice. i think i will start stopping at the customer service desk first thing and have them check all my coupons before i shop. that way their will be no surprises or upset on either side and i can shop with confidence.

    • lynn

i just got the family is its own reward book here in npr florida and the coupons in it are wonderful to use now and future sales guess we get the good books to try to make up for not letting us double coupons i know i gett real enviouse when i see your double and tripple deals

    • JEB

      Shannon in ATL,

There is a Publix on Gervais St. in downtown Columbia that would be close. Also one in Forest Acres. There are lots of Bilos, one in Cayce- West Columbia, also, since they double coupons also. Go Gamecocks!

    • Christie

I love your suggestion to write a letter singing the praises of your local Publix. You’ve inspired me to do the same.

I was pleased to find out today that the Ocean Spray CranErgy 4 packs (reg. 3.99) were included in the BOGO sale even though it wasn’t posted. With the $1 off coupon, each drink is a quarter! woohoo.

    • JENNY J

Tonight was the first time I shopped using the coupons I have been collecting for the last week and a half. I was so happy. I bought $102.57 worth of groceries at Publix for $36.68. I saved $65.68. We are a family of six. I can’t wait to get an even better hang of it.
I was especially excited about getting a $0.50 overage on two boxes of Ritz Crackers. They were BOGO, plus a had 2 $1 off Target coupons and 2 $1 off Manufacturer’s coupons. Whoohoo!

    • Paula

Here is Publix Coupon Policy (as quoted on another website).

The following are general guidelines regarding Publix policy. If there is any doubt, please speak with your store for clarification. Different regions will vary in policy and procedure.

      · Publix allows the use of one manufacturer coupon AND one store coupon per item purchased. This applies to BOGO items as well.

      · Publix accepts competitor coupons. Check with your store to confirm who they consider their competitor.

      · Publix doubles coupons up to and including $0.50. There are no limits to the number of coupons that will double. Only manufacturer coupons will double. Store and competitor coupons will not double. This policy does not apply to Florida—coupons do not double in Florida

      · Publix does not accept expired coupons.

      · The Publix Promise guarantees that if during checkout, the scanned price of an item (excluding alcohol and tobacco products) exceeds the shelf price or advertised price, they will give the customer one of that item free. The remaining items will be charged at the lower price..

      · Publix does accept internet printables (IP’s). Many Publix will not accept IP’s for free items or IP’s over $5 in value.

      · Publix does not limit the number of coupons that can be used per transaction—BUT …after a $50 coupon threshold has been reached, a manager override will be necessary for any additional coupons to be accepted.

      · Publix registers also require that the number of coupons and items purchased be equivalent. If you have more coupons than items, a manger override will be required.

      · During a BOGO sale, you do not have to purchase two items to receive the discount. BOGO items each ring ½ of the regular price. This is not true in Florida—you must purchase both items as the 1st item rings at full price and the 2nd item rings at zero ($0)

      · Publix will gladly give a rain check for any sale item that is not in stock. Some stores will only write RC’s for items in the weekly sales flyer not the Advantage Buy Flyers

      · The penny item coupon is valid for use on Sunday and/or Monday. The actual coupon can be found in the ad located in the Sunday paper (usually on the front cover). Florida does not participate in the penny item promotion.

Publix has excellent customer service and strives for complete customer satisfaction. Being responsible and using coupons appropriately ensures that Publix remains coupon friendly. Some people will say that “flying under the radar” is the best practice. Being 20-30 minutes from the closest store and having two toddlers does not make that a possibility for me! I recommend establishing a rapport with your store staff, asking questions if there is ever a doubt about policy and being an honest couponer. This will help to ensure your shopping is a pleasure J

    • Hi Tonya,
Thanks for the compliment…that made my day !
      Glad my comment helps.

    • Margie

my store wont take the ocean spray cranergy or lift coupons for the regular juice that is on sale. they say it is not the same product on the coupon.
this happens alot when you post other “similar” brand coupons to use for a sale item, i get denied at the register.

    • Margie,
The Cranenergy is included in the sale, which is why the coupon is listed under it. It should not be used for the regular juice. There are no printables for regular cranberry juice. If you have a food lion nearby some of them have blinkies for $1 off the 64 oz or 4 packs.

    • Jennifer

FYI…Publix at Hammond’s Crossing in Cumming, GA is no longer accepting Target coupons, so we have to take our business to the Exit 14 store.

    • Paula

Check your local Publix for the Family Is It’s Own Rewards booklet after this weeks sale. They came in the middle of this sale (in some stores) and because the managers didn’t know what coupons were offered – did not order enough of the sale items to cover the sale plus coupons (like the Breyers Ice Cream). So they are opting to hold the coupons until this sale is over. This gives them the chance to order up on those items.

So check at customer service on Thursday. Also, some stores are holding them at Customer Service and only handing 1 or 2 out to each customer because (like in our case) we only received 500 and some couponers will come in and take 20 to 50 booklets at a time. So if you don’t see them after Thursday, ask at the front desk.

    • There is a $1 off coupon on the Deerpark website that will make the 24 bottle pack of water $2.99. You can’t beat that!! I bought 4 last night to donate to the local shelters here in Columbia. That is the great thing about this coupon shopping. My rule is if I get it for free or pay very little for it, why not load up? There is surely someone who can use it this day and time. I got the deal of the century on doggie bones a few weeks back and donated about 75 packs of Denta Stix to the Animal Protection League. You can save and do something nice for someone else at the same time…..you can not beat that!!

I live in the metropolitan Atlanta area. When I was going through the coupons in today’s paper, I found a coupon for a free box of Wheat Thins crackers when you buy a box of Ritz Crackers. I thought this would go great with the BOGO offer on Ritz. Thanks for all you do.

    • Bonnie in ATL

From my understanding, when a bar code on a coupon begins with 5, it will double at stores that double. Also, when the first 5 digits on the coupon bar code match the first 5 digits of the product bar code, then the coupon will work for that item, even if the picture/description of item is not the same.
      Am I correct?
Thanks to anyone who can help!

    • Bonnie, the first part of what you said about the bar code starting with 5 is true. However, the first digits are the “manufacturer code” so they HAVE to match. Then the rest of the bar code is for the actual item or “family” of items.

    • jen

i have a question where is the butcher block item in publix. i went today and they said none of their stores carry this item?????

    • Jen

What is the “family is its own reward” coupon book?

    • Angela W

Amy B – what part of the store were they located? I asked at Gervais today and they didn’t know what I was talking about…. Maybe they put them away until after the Breyer’s sale is over.

Shannon in ATL – the Gervais Publix is a cool kinda small “city” store that usually has my deals in stock. There is a BiLo on North Main street that is a little “sketchy” at night, but I go there anyway….

Today I did 4 transactions to get 4 penny items. I’m giving the Window Cleaner to a women’s shelter…with the free pasta I got from Bi-Lo last month. (Didn’t want anyone to think I was just being greedy!)
      Without sales/coupons – $126
      Saved -$90.21
      Paid $35.79
      Not bad, eh?

I stumbled on a neat deal from the Food Lion Racing coupon booklet from May 10.

    • Angela W

I stumbled on a neat deal from the Food Lion Racing coupon booklet from May 10.
There’s a Q for 2 free pepsi 2 ltrs when you buy 2 Frito Lay Family size chips. Works with the BOGO Frito Lay Doritos at Publix!
I got 4 pepsis and 4 bags of Doritos for my kids and their friends for $8!

    • ***FYI***
There is a $1 off 1 Country Time Drink Mix peelie at Publix, near the Apron’s Counter(?)…the drink mix is $1 at Kroger this week, making it FREE!!!

    • tonya

boo hoo. my ss 5/17 doesn’t have the free wheat thins wyb ritz coupon.

    • Jan

Jenny – I see some 5/17 coupons listed here. Will each week’s Publix list include deals with the upcoming Sunday coupons on it? Since new coupons come out in the middle of the sale I find myself worrying about missing a good deal and trying to see if new match ups are posted before the sale ends. If you are already doing that…it will save me some time and worry.

As if you’re not already saving me a LOT ot time, worry and of course money! Thanks for doing a great job!

    • Jan, I do my grocery shopping on Sunday night or Monday so I can get the penny item, as well as see what coupons are in the current Sunday paper. I’ve actually came across many deals that were not on recent weekly deal post.

    • Mina

Tonya, there are TWO SS this week because next weekend is a holiday and there are no q inserts scheduled. The WheatThins one is near the back of the FAT one in ours.

Ritz and WheatThins are two of my favorite crackers. Ritz, or imitation Ritz crackers, have always been a staple around my house. We haven’t had any for quite awhile because there have been other things that were much better values. I was pleased when I saw the Ritz would be BOGO at Publix this week, and excited over the q’s when the latest Kraft printables came out and saw the ones for Ritz to go with the sale, but I kept a reign on my eagerness and saved those precious q’s in anticipation of that Ritz/Wheat Thins offer. I was at Publix to buy just 2 papers this morning right after the store opened. I usually buy a first batch of 5. That way I have my $10 worth and can verify the mystery item. After I go home and look through the inserts, I get another batch of papers. WOOT! The Wheat Thins Q was there. The inserts were better than I feared. Saved me from driving to Rock Hill or Augusta to buy papers with better inserts.

I went back this afternoon (in pouring rain) and got my Ritz and Wheat Thins. I am a happy camper. :-)

P.S. Customer Service in the Ballentine/Irmo area say they haven’t heard of or seen the “Family is Its Own Reward” pamphlet. I don’t know if they have received them. The one on Harbison told me the same thing about one of the pamphlets last week, and I found them right there at the cooking display.

my publix has coke products on sale, buy 3 get 1 free on the 12pk can drinks. ok, here’s my question, in the yellow advantage flyer there is a coupon for buy 2 dr pepper 12 oz can drinks, get 1 free. dr pepper is a coke product, so couldn’t i combine these with the sale? so i could get 4 – 12pks for the price of 2?

    • joei

Jenny or anyone that can answer this.

I live in FL, I was wondering if anyone knows if publix will take albertsons meat coupons. For example this week they have buy one pack of pork chops get 2 free.

      Would they take them?

    • Amy

Yes they will. I’ve done it many times. It has to be the one that says 7 day coupon. Soon you’ll have a freezer full!!!

    • Patsy

Why is it that several coupons you listed today are not to be found in the designated folders ie: RP SS ?

    • meagan

having trouble locating the pillsbury biscuits Q mentioned from food lion? i see a food lion brang biscuits though.

    • joei

      That’s great!

      Amy are you in FL?

    • Amy

Yes I am. And there’s only one albertsons left where I live. I hope they don’t close down too. I need my coupons!!

    • Emily

I go to Walmart less and less after finding this site, but wanted to give an FYI. I was at Walmart this weekend and noticed that their regular prices on some of the Kraft items we all got coupons for are cheaper there than the Publix Yellow Advantage deals… I got Bagelfuls and Oscar Meyer hot dogs specifically cheaper with my coupons.

Just an FYI on these few items… You still can’t beat Publix weekly ad sales!!

    • Lori

combine the Sweet Baby Ray’s sale and manf q with the Bi-Lo coupon and get Ray’s and Publix brand both for $.15 this week!

    • Debby

About the Purina coupon—you have to pick a shelter. Do the give back part, then it will let yo print your coupon. I found out by accident, cause I was wondering what was going on too, but I love animals, so I wanted to be sure a nearby shelter got their “bowlful” so I just filled out that part, and then lo and behold! it sent my coupon to the printer! I have to say, this is really great of Purina to do! Thanks to Jenny for finding this! I win and my local shelter wins!

    • lynn

ay know what you mean they closed my albertsons a year ago i only have windixie publix and sweet bay to choose from not many stackable coupons with those choices

    • I had an awesome week at Publix…saved 70% with sales and coupons. My cashier was wonderful as usual, I learned the hard way to go to her and ONLY her last week. I have to say I was a little nervous that they’d be on High Alert and give me a hard time after all the hoopla on this post this week. Thank goodness I had no problems!

    • Kay

There’s a $1 off any Solo product in the SmartSource (5/17)

    • Kim

Hey just wanted to say thanks for this site . You all do a great job. Wish I knew about this site a long time ago . I have saved so much money within the month . Now I wish there were coupons for gas lol.

    • Krista B.

Just wanted to mention that my publix has a coupon for free eggs with the purchase of any 2 Kellogs Cereals (the coupon tear off pad was by the eggs).

    • jen

im still asking where is the butchers meat at publix someone help!!!

    • Amy

I believe the butchers meat is food lions brand, I used the coupon today on publix meat. so i got pot roast that was on sale for 5.49, used $1 off $5 beef and paid $4.49.

    • jenniferpy1

Right, the butcher’s brand is FL’s meat dept., so any Publix beef will work just fine.

After reading the message earlier accusing “us” of berating the Publix cashiers, I certainly hope you (whoever you really are), realize that not everyone of “us” is out to get the cashiers. I actually look forward to seeing the cashiers at my store every week. We even email one another about sales and coupons! There’s no angry crowd gathering to riot with scissors in one hand and coupon inserts in the other. CHILL will ya’!?!

    • Iveth Major

I personally, love PUBLIX. I have been a loyal customer for 15 years. I started to use coupons only 3 months ago. I find ALL the cashiers at PUBLIX (I live in Brentwood, TN) & managers and any other employee as a matter of fact very very nice! I would say PUBLIX has the BEST customer Service ever. I have gone to shop at Fresh Market, Harris Teeter, Targets, Wal Marts and so on, and NOBODY in my opinion can even come close to how friendly and very acceptable of coupons are.

I actually learend about this website may be 3 weeks ago, through the Publix Store manager who told me I could even save more if I was to read this blog. He actually encouraged me to learned many stuff I didn’t know such as in the Publix I go they take Target, Food Lion and many other competitors coupons even if expired!

So, whoever is screaming at cashiers at Publix or anywherelese got not an anger problem but may be a rage problem, espcvially to be so disrespectful. The person should be ashamed or it may be she has some hormonal, depression, bi-polar issues!

It is not normal to scream at people who are serving you neither anyone else. So, get a grip & don’t make PUBLIX angry b/c they do an outstanding job.

The only they have not done that Harris Teeter and Kroger have done here in TN is do the tripl coupon event….But, I don’t care with such good customer servive and such flexible policy w/ cvoupons, I will be their customer until I die! ;0)

      Thumbs up Publix. You rock!

    • Debbie

I just wanted to comment on all the hoopla about Publix. I shop at the Publix at Five Forks Plaza in Greenville, SC. The staff there is really nice.
After reading all of the comments, I had some Food Lion coupons that I wanted to use, so I stopped at the Customer Service desk to make sure that they would take them. The customer service rep was very nice, and said “sure we take those”. I told her, I thought they would, but I wanted to ask just to be sure. She said “thank you, for stopping to check”.

    • jenniferpy1

Safe Way has a printable for FREE 1 pound container of strawberries!!!! It is good from 5/1-5/31/09 and states “with minimum $10 produce purchase”. The strawberries count towards that $10, so by the time you buy bananas etc. you will have the $10 worth. I have used SafeWay coupons at my Publix in FL without any problems. The manager is very pro-coupon. Visit http://www.safeway.com for printing. Best wishes! ~ Jenn

    • Iveth Major- which Brentwood Publix do you shop at and which manager did you talk to? I normally shop at the Maryland Farms store, and sometimes the Nippers Corners store. I’ve never been to the Moore’s Lane store, but I’ve had wonderful luck at the other two ;) But I’m dying to know which store takes expired competitors q’s! (and which mgr said that…for my reference)

    • Angela

      The Leonards –
Hey! I wait until Sun/Mon to shop at Publix too! That way, I have fresh coupons and the penny item.
I go to Bi-Lo and Kroger on Friday (payday) and wait for the best at Publix.

    • meagan

how can you use a food lion brand sugar for a publix sugar? i called and they said you can’t do that?

    • Debbie

I did this just yesterday at my Publix in Greenville. They use the Food Lion coupon on the Publix brand sugar.

    • Michelle

I sent my DH to Publix today to get the Shedd’s that I forgot to get a couple days ago. Our store was selling it for $1.89 – BOGO – so it was 95 cents. He used the 50 cent coupon, and it didn’t double so he paid 45 cents. Still a good deal, but I’m guessing the coupon didn’t double because it would have made a negative order amount. Should I tell him to press the issue and have them downgrade the coupon to make a $0 balance, in case this happens in the future?

    • Hello,
Im having trouble when attempting to print out the V8 coupos, logo Is blurred and it says las name can not be left blank??
It’s someone else having trouble,my friend tried and she is also havig the same problem.

    • Tamara
