WalMart, Staples, and I think Office Depot price match items. I’ll head to Staples w/ my sales paper(s) from Office Depot, Target, and Rite Aide.

I hope the dvertised items are identical. That’s the new trick with many stores who price match. There’s some type of variation of the same item (i.e. 5 pack of pencils w/ bonus pen).

    • Alyssa

      Also at Wal-Mart this week:
Ziploc sandwich or snack bags, bonus size 120ct – $2
      Ziploc storage quart bags, 30ct – $2
      Ziploc storage gallon bags, 24ct – $2
**look for packages with 3 Bonus Boxtops (if your school collects these)
-$1/any Ziploc product in Publix “Smart Summertime Savings” booklet

I would be part of a Northern Savers if you had it, so our deals run a little different. CVS deals are a little frustrating. If you aren’t there at 8:00 a.m. when they open on Sunday – you won’t find the freebies or many of the other deals the rest of the week. Items are gone and not restocked at all. I am beginning to think they only stock about 3 of each item. Any suggestions?

    • Michelle

Here is a coupon for the Expo click markers at Staples. It’s $1 off, and they are on sale for 2/$3.

    • Catherine

Thanks for putting this together!!!! It’s so helpful.

As for CVS being out of everything early….happens to me after week now that the 3 day sales are school supplies. The cashier told me yesterday that some people come in first thing on Sunday and have 5 CVS cards per person!!!!! I know some families have one per adult (husband/wife) which is reasonable. But the people she referred to are buying up all the deals and then reselling them in their dollar stores/gas stations. And there is nothing they can do about it. Frustrating for those of us who just want the deals for our own family. This CVS has started ordering extras of what is going to be on sale that week, but it still gets cleaned out. Oh well, I am thankful for the deals I get, and I try to get rainchecks for the rest.

    • Kim Morgan

Thanks for the input on CVS. I am very thankful for the deals and appreciate this website SOOOOOOO much. It is a blessing in every way and I have been passing it on to others. It is an answer to prayer for me and so many others.

    • Kim – get a raincheck, and make sure they write the ecb code on it.

Catherine, can you ask your store manager to put a limit on how many cards one person can have? I know they can’t stop them from having others shop for them, but that type of abuse is what gets screws things up for the rest of us! And to think I felt guilty about my husband having his own card!

Do you find the WalMart price match guarantee on their website or should I ask in the store? I think I heard on tv that there is a $12 max – anybody know about that? WalMart has some good low prices on things, but a lot of their lowest prices are on items that are coming up for free elsewhere the past few weeks. I would save them as a last resort, panic trip.

Thanks for the post, Jen. Very helpful.

Last year, Target reduced all their back to school supplies by 20-40% after school started. This included dry erase boards, planners, even Kleenex that was bundled as back to school specials. I got some nice office supplies then. It’s a good place to go if you missed the deals and your kids can wait for some of their supplies.

    • Leann

Thank you so much for doing this! This is so helpful right here at school time!

    • Beth W

just an as info. I went to target today to get the 6 pack of glue for $1. That is until I realized that the 2-packs(same sized tubes) are .25- so you can get 8 for $1 instead of the 6 pack….

    • Bobbie

At my WalMart in Birmingham they will give the price match on the exact same item or if they don’t carry the item it has to be their brand. They do not take any computer coupons.

    • Honey

I agree-I’m probably skipping Walgreens again this week!

    • New At This

Does anyone have tips on cheap printer cartridges? All these printables are running me dry!

    • Noel

Went to staples to get the .25 Bic pencils and tried to use the .50 off coupon. The checker said he couldn’t use it because it .50 off ONE item. Is this true?

    • Mary

I just got (4) 10 pack Bic Mechanical pencils at PUBLIX for free.

      (4) 1.00 Mechanical pencils
      -(2) 1.00/2 Target BIC stationary Q’s
      -(2) 1.00/2 IP BIC Stationary Q’s

    • If you didn’t get the Staples ad in your paper or want another one you can get a printable here:

    • Jenny

I get my ink cartridges refilled by a local company. I’m in the Charleston/Summerville area if you are nearby I can give you the company name, but you can probably get yours refilled as well. It was several dollars cheaper AND they refill my cartridges twice the amount that they are when you buy them at the store.

    • Jenny

Jenny, I’m looking for cheap PlayDoh if you see any….my son’s preschool list includes kindergarten pencils (the fat ones) and PlayDoh. I haven’t seen those cheap anywhere just thought you probably see more ads than me. I’d appreciate any tips. Thank you! I love this site. I love saving money!

    • Suzanne

Has anyone found a good price on the jumbo Crayola 8 pack crayons? My son needs them for 4-k. My mama found them at Wal-Mart for $2, but that didn’t seem like a good deal.

Anyone seen a good price on a dry eraser (for dry erase marker boards)?

    • Kam

An old, clean sock works great as a dry eraser! I have a whole bag that I use in my classroom. The children get a giggle out of using them also.

    • Danielle

I just went to Staples today and found $.01 notebooks! They are single subject and are one penny for your first 6. After that they are 33 cents a piece. Pretty great deal. Who need the big 5 subject ones anyway. I never use all those sections as it is. What a great deal!!!

Also found out that if you are a teacher you can get 25 of any promotional item that has a limit that is less than 25 for the promo price. So if there is a limit of 6, it doesn’t matter for teachers!! I think that’s great because they are great people.
