I have been wanting one of these machines for quite awhile. I work for a non-profit organization for homeless men, women and children. I would use to make personalized cards. I try to find fun ways to teach my kids the importance of written correspondence. One way we do this is make our own cards and send them to friends and family members. It is a great family project.

So many fun things you could do with this awsome machine! There were several things that came to mind. Birthday Banners or any type of banner! Ok the first thing I would do is to make my kids some personalized items. It is hard to find things that have my kids names around on them. With that said I would go the extra mile and create a special picture/project that would have all my children names and their meaning and a current family picture of them. This will give my children that understanding and love that their dad and I put into naming them when they were born.
I think the first project I would do would be vinyl wallies exactly as I'd like them for my daughters room.

I would organize my playroom!
I would do alot of research to see all this machine can do, then I would go to town. I would use it with the abused kids that I do therapy with, especially at one of the children's homes. I would make presents, and just let the creative side of me take charge. Embroidering, sewing, scrapbooking, etc. are such good ways to destress after dealing with emoitional buildup.

My sister-in-law is an elementary school teacher and she is so great with crafting things. Christmas is such an exciting time of year for my children. I have six and they love to help decorate. I try to decorate our tree with various ornaments that they have made at church or at school. I think a tree should be made up of ornaments that hold special memories. With the silhouette we can make ornaments for tree, can you imagine all the different ones we can make with so many differnt taste? That would be a blessing!
I am in charge of a bulletin board at church and have to use my friends cutting machine, not as nice as the silhouette, to do the lettering. This would be perfect for someone as creatively challenged as I am!

What would become of me if I had one of these? I'd spend my days crafting away. My first idea for what I would do is to create pretty Christmas garland for my son's preschool teacher from the whole class. Each child could create their part of it with pre-cut shapes (ala The Silhouette!). Then we'd string it all together using beautiful Christmas colored ribbon. I'm sure it would be something she would keep for years to come!
All I could think of is my daughter's next birthday party…I will be making banners, invites, wall art etc….I MUST have this!!

I am a third grade classroom teacher and have wanted a Silhouette machine for my classroom. We are beginning a unit on rocks and soil. My students are making their own pet rocks during the unit. They have decided to make “baby books” for their pet rocks and would also like to make “houses” to carry their babies. I think that the Silhouette machine would offer some neat opportunities for my students to use their imaginations in creating “baby books” and “houses” for their pet rocks! We would also be able to use this AWESOME machine throughout the rest of the school year on numerous projects in our classroom.

There are so many ideas to consider. However, I think making my own cards would be an ideal first use of this machine. I'm excited to think about having one.
I just made one of those ornaments in the picture above, only mine wasn't near as fancy and i had to use scissors. I love making ornaments (my favorite gift to give) so I would use this to fancy them up some before giving them. And after Christmas? With a large family and extended church family there is always a wedding or baby shower to go to. I love being able to add that personal touch to each gift that says “I took time to do this one just for you because I care.” I love scrapbooking and since my son just returned home from Iraq, his wife and I have started a military scrapbook of his time in the service. What an incredible machine!

Wow is this awesome. I really could see myself using it personnally for many cool scrapbooking projects or card making, but what I really would do with it right away is to have my French club students create provencial French ornaments. With the glass etching technique they could create one of kind sayings in the target language on the outside of a large clear glass bulb and on the inside we could place a mini scroll in which we recorded current personal messages to be read after graduation. Wow the more I think about it the possibilities are endless. Thank you for sharing the silhouette SD machine with me. I can not wait to share this with the other club sponsors, students and teachers.

This sounds like something I could really use. I operate a dance studio and am all the time cutting out things. My husband's father passed away a few years ago. I have been trying to do a scrapbook of my father-in-law's life under the radar as a surprise for my husband but it is difficult because I am a very messy scrapbooker. However, my husband received orders for deployment for Afghanistan last month. He deploys on December 29th for 1 year. I will have plenty of time to get it done and send it to next Christmas. I recently inherited lots of glassware and plates from my grandmother and would love to make stencils for etching glass and vinyl letters to add some of her “sayings' on some of the plates to display in my house as well as to give to other family members to remember her by. I'm sure I can come up with several other ways to use the Silhouette SD Machine to add special touches throughout my house such as vinyl wall decor, labels, and monogramming.

One of my favorite gifts to make for people is photo quilts (with family pictures printed on transfer paper and ironed onto the fabric). For now, I am limited to square and circle photos ironed onto patches, but with the Silhouette, I could cut out individual figures or “silhouettes” and create incredible compilations of memories. I would love this machine for that purpose.

Now that we are starting a family, I feel we should start doing fun activities, especially during the holidays! During Christmas time everything is all about giving or receiving gifts, and many times our lifestyles are too busy to take time to do family activities, play games, or even just sit and talk! Christmas time should be focused on the birth of Jesus Christ and spending time with family! So being 8 months pregnant with the FIRST grandchild on both sides of our family, I could do so much for the new grandparents, new aunts, and new uncles! I am not at all very creative but after seeing the wonderful items you have made, a million ideas popped into my head. I have congenital heart disease and I have been out of work for a year now and I am waiting for a heart transplant. I've been dreaming of owning one of these since I first heard about them. I'm a “crafty” person and have spent hours carefully cutting with scissors and craft knives to make numerous projects – I love to post “sayings”, “verses”, etc. all over my house as reminders of how to live day to day but with all my family obligations growing daily I have little to no time to create anything because of the time constraints. It would give me such a boost to be able to be creative again without feeling like I'm shirking my caregiver duties just to please myself…..

I would really enjoy this. Not only would I use this for things to do for my child but my son and I make things to take to our local nursing home and these would be great to make and take their. It would give them something to look forward to each day. I take the things to make hot choc., take a piece of candy from candy dish (take a candy dish with this), have lunch with a friend, call a friend or family member today, take a walk, etc. This would be so much fun!

My 9 year old daughter has an amazing Sunday School teacher at church. She knows my daughter is going through a really tough time with her father's remarriage, and this lady sends her a special card every week telling her she is praying for her and encouraging her. Since my son will be born around the holidays, I was thinking I could also use it to make cards to send out to our family for his birth announcements! Since foldable cards can be pricey I would use it to make the card and then include a picture of him after he was born! WOW! We could use this machine for sure. I saw the advent tree in your post today and was thinking it would be perfect for our church Advent Festival. This year we decided to make more of the crafts for others in need, instead of all for ourselves. We made 3 sets of 24 advent pouches filled with goodies for some of our home-bound and a student at my sons school that has cancer and will spend most of the holidays in the hospital. This machine would be perfect to help us continue with crafty service projects in the future!

I have just found out about this machine. It does everything that I thought a cricket would do, till i found out what a cricket does and how many additional cartridges you have to buy….etc. Anyway what wouldn't I do with this. I love to be creative, and think outside the box. After making all kinds of signs for my home, I would like to see if it would cut out stencils for my screen printing. I love graphic designs especially with letters and numbers. access to all the additional fonts, and having the machine do the cutting for me would be Amazing!

The possibilities are truly endless, especially with all the great project idea's out in blog land. What I like the most is the compactness. I participate in an annual mission trip out of the country to run VBS for migrant kids but flying hinders us from bringing all the supplies we'd like. The silhouette seems like it could help, not only with simple lettering & posters but cutting templates for boxed crafts & hands on projects, all w/o lugging cartridges and a bunch of extra supplies around. All it takes is a laptop, a Silhouette, paper & vinyl. I'm getting excited thinking about all the possibilities.
