Can anyone tell me where the best prices on black printer ink are?

      • Amy – Brentwood, TN

I buy a HP21 Black and they are $13.96 at Wal-Mart…I hate going there, but that’s ALL i go there for. The HP22 Color is $19.99 at Target and Wal-Mart, so I buy that one at Target. I have been doing couponing for 3 months and haven’t found any coupons or real deals on printer ink…yet.

I have an HP deskjet, I get my cartridges refilled @ cartridge world on Woodruff Rd., for half the price I would buy new from Wal-Mart….oooo, am I allowed to say this, lol

          • heather

I agree cartridge world is the way to go.

            • Sherri

I bought my printer ink from houseforinks.com and I got it way cheaper like for 6.95 for black ink and free shipping which is a great grab!

        • Erin

I went through ocinkjet.com last time and got 2 cartridges for 8 or 9 dollars, shipped. I think that’s after the 15% q that comes out frequently, so search at retailmenot.com or somewhere first. They were refilled ones, so not new, but they’ve worked just fine. I’m going to see if I can take in the empty cartridges to Staples to get $3 rewards, then use it to buy paper and things when these deals come around again.

      • Julie

I have found a site called Inkgrabber.com that has great prices on ink cartridges. If you sign up at Mrrebates.com (free) and go through it to order you get a 15% rebate back on your purchases. Inkgrabber will also send monthly specials to your inbox if you sign up for them. I have always gotten free shipping and never had a problem. I prefer to use the refurbished cartridges as they are even less expensive. We do a lot of printing at my house between coupons and homeschool and this site has been a big $$$ saver for me!

      • Rebecca

I did great at overstock.com (once). I always look at pricegrabber.com, and bought from a storefront there once and got what I wanted, but the second time I ordered from a storefront on there I got OEM ink (not refurb, but not HP ink (which is what I expected). Be careful to look at the fine print and not just the pictures. I was ticked at first, but it’s working well, so I’m not as mad anymore. Bigger battles to be picked!

      • Marlene

I go to Walgreens to get mine refilled. If you go on walgreens.com/ink it will tell you the types they refill.

      • michelle

Office Max refills MOST black ink cartridges for 10.00 dollars, color

    • Are the easy rebate done at the register or are they like regular rebates ?

      • I file the Easy Rebates online and then wait for them to come in the mail. Everything you need is printed on the receipt.

        • LR

Gotta love the easy rebates! Like Crisci says do them online, using the receipt info & wait on the ck.

    • Laurie

I don’t know the truly best prices on ink (it probably depends on the brand you need). But, if you have any empty cartridges, you automatically get $3 off your purchase at Office Depot. And I’ve used several at a time with no problem. At Staples, they will mail you $3 if you are a rewards member. And at Office Max, I think they don’t (or at least used to not) accept all brands of empty cartridges. But I believe they give a $3 instant credit as well.

    • Katherine

I had a brown bag from office max in my paper today. You get 15% off anything that will fit into the bag….will try to take my old ink cartridge for the credit and get 15% off my new one! we’ll see how this turns out

    • Carol

I boycott staples – don’t even look at their ads anymore b/c too many times I have gone there for advertised deals, and they have NEVER had in the store what was advertised in THAT day’s paper! Is it the same everywhere else, or do the Tallahassee stores just suck?

      • Marie

The ones by you must just suck. The one down from my house is really good and will even pricematch!! I go there regularly, and their Staples Ink is very smart to get, you get more ink for the same or less money!!

      • Helene

NO…..the Staples by my house is the same way! They have always been out of everything! Even if I go the day it is advertised!

      • Alice

I’m sorry to hear you have a bad experience at Staples! I love my Staples in N.Charleston. I went in there the other day to check the price on a USB cable and it was 30 bucks. I mentioned to the guy that I had seen the same cable at Wal-Mart for 20 dollars. He said he could price match and got online and started looking. He ended up finding it online for 12.98 and matched that price! I’m a teacher so I always go stock up on their penny sales since I provide many of the supplies for my students. LOVE Staples, hope your experience changes!

        • Katie

Where is Staples in North Charleston? I can’t think of where it is…

          • Alice

Katie, It’s across from Tanger Outlets and Wal-Mart.

    • Erin

Amazon has crazy deals on printer ink…I found a 10 pack for less than the price of 1 cartridge even with shipping!!

      • MarySC

Me too, I buy non-OEM cartridges on Amazon for about 10% of the real ones, and have never had a problem with them (I do look for ones with good ratings!)

    • I love Staples! Since I started couponing in January I have found that Staples is one of the best places. It may help that I have gotten to know the managers in the store too. :)

    • Lisa

Is this ad good everywhere? There is no print ad in the Tampa/St. Pete papers and in the store they said there is no print ad this week. Also, other than the binders deal, none of the others deals are advertised in the store.

    • wendy

Can I order this online or is this just in-store deals?

    • Michelle

from what I can tell…some of these are valid online such as the binders and the Gel Pens…but I did not find a sale price on the dry erase markers…I have not checked every item though. Hope that helps…

      • Michelle

Most of the rebate offers are for in store purchases only. You can search for rebates, put in the manufacturer name and look at the different rebates being offered and it will tell you if it is in store only or valid online.

    • Jessica

Just confirming the obvious, the easy rebates, etc. must be used at Staples, correct? This will not be a problem for my family because my husband teaches school and is constantly needing supples.

      • Melanie

Well, I was skeptical about Staples….I have gone there and to Office Max for their advertised specials, and almost always ended up disappointed, because the store runs out of the advertised items. This time, however, I hit the jackpot! I got the mech. pencils, the Pentel gel pens, the copy paper, the pop up tape, and four binders. The binders are great! You have to get the “Heavy Duty” “View” ones… which are the best anyway. They come in a variety of sizes and colors, and I got three Clemson orange ones :) By the way, I did get a GPS system from Office Max recently, and it is great and the price beats any I have seen. Maybe these office supply stores realize they have to do better or we are all going to WalMart!

      • Jenny

The rebates come in the form of a check you can cash at the bank, but the Staples rewards are a check that you can only use at Staples.

        • Amy – Brentwood, TN

i asked the cashier if the “rewards’ from the ink cartridge come as store credit or a check, and she told me it is a check that comes in the mail and that I would bring to the bank. But your saying the “rewards” are just store credit?

          • LR

When you turn in an ink cart the $3 back is in the form of a “Staples Rewards” – a $3 Staples ck to be used @ Staples. Those rewards come via email or snail mail. – you can chose on staplesrewards.com site. You have to be signed up for Staplesrewards. They usually expire w/in a month or 2 – 30 days?
I use the rewards cks to buy more ink. We typically get reimb for our ink purchase, so I don’t always shop around. Once my hubby used staplesrewards cks to buy gcs for restaraunts (on the kiosk near the registers). I don’t think they are supposed to be used that way but the check out person let him that time.

    • char

if anyone uses an hp printer and has a brand smart near by, the best prices in town

    • Great post on the Staples deals. I was going to post it on my blog but just found it on your site so I am just going to link you on my money saving site. http://www.thecoupontutor.blogspot.com

    • Margy

I went today and got the pens, the paper, and four binders. When I got home I realized that only two rebate forms printed…no form printed for the binder. Tried entering my receipt online and the pens and the paper rebate showed up, but not the binders, so I need to take these binders back to the store and see what is up. I feel sure I got the binder advertised in the deal (Avery Heavy Duty View Binder).
Double check your receipts before you leave the store to make sure you have all that you need.

      • Susan

The ad (and Jenny’s post) says that you will get back 100% of your purchase price for the binders in Staples Rewards. It is not a rebate. You will receive a “check” in Feb. that can then be used only at Staples toward other purchases.

There’s a $1 off any BIC product coupon in the Entertainment Weekly with Robert Downey Jr. on the cover as Sherlock Holmes.

    • Amy B.

Scotch has printables on their website, one of which is 75¢ off the Scotch Pop Up tape. This makes it a small moneymaker!!

    • Great post! Thanks for the information.
