Last week I had the opportunity to go the T.J. Maxx Swag Suite in the Magic Castle for the Teen Choice Awards. There were lots of different vendors there giving out free items to the celebrities, but T.J. Maxx took the opportunity to give back.
T.J. Maxx has a long standing partnership with Save the Children to help raise money for kids living in poverty in the US. One in five children in the US live in poverty, so Save the Children aims to help provide these children with all the things they need to be successful in school.
Since 1984 T.J. Maxx has raised over 14 million dollars for Save the Children and directly sponsors almost 1000 children across the US. Funds are raised from many different promotions but the largest fundraiser is from buying special reusable totes in T.J. Maxx stores for 99¢. The profit from the bags goes directly to Save the Children.
I spent two days helping out as we got tons of celebrities to sign and decorate Tote bags. For every bag signed T.J. Maxx is donating $100 to Save the Children plus all the bags are will go up for auction on ebay tonight or tomorrow. All proceeds will benefit Save the Children as well. You can bid on bags signed and decorated by celebs such as Regis and Kelly, Brenda Strong, Kids from Desperate Housewives, Nolan Gould, Jasper or Laurent from Twilight, Joely Fisher, cast from Glee and many others.
If you don’t have the money no worries, you can “sign” your own tote (free) and post it on your facebook page. For every digitally signed tote T.J. Maxx is donating $1. So at least share your own tote and help out US Kids in Need!!
