Walgreens released a 15% off coupon through facebook.  This is good 12/17 -12/18 (today and tomorrow) for 15% off all eligigle store items or 20% off W Brand items.

If you go today and use this on a purchase that is $25 or more (before coupons) you will also get $5 RR back!!  See all the deals for this week here.

I just went and had a great trip.  Get to know your Walgreens employees, check out at the beauty counter too.  My cashier had a special surprise and scanned a $5 off $20 coupon she had behind the counter too, she kept it and said she scans it for everyone!

-15% off

I love getting something I need having  no coupons for it, and still coming out ahead!!

    • Karen

The coupons says to check out at the photo or cosmetic register ONLY.

      • My husband works for walgreens and we get the same discount for anything we purchase whenever..but we have to check out at photo or cosmetic counter..these registers are set up for the employee discount. Thats the reason why I assume. Merry Christmas :)

    • Cher

Jenny, where did you get the 5 off 20?

      • Jenny

The cashier had it, it said something about medicare on it. Sorry I can’t be more help.

        • Paige

I got the coupon out of my neighbor’s recycle bin. He is 88 and it was a direct mailer from Walgreen’s to him and it did say something about medicare.

          • Sue

A lady after my own heart! That’s my kind of recycling. :)

    • Natalie

Do you have to be a face book member to get the coupon?

      • Annamarie

      • Cassandra

I got one in my email as well. But I’m signed up to receive the flyer in my email every week.

    • M

      what was the $5RR from?

      • Amy

That’s the promo – spend $25 and get back $5RR

        • becky

I had problems yesterday. They said the 5rr was after qs, etc. I explained that it didn’t work that way last week. The manager said, ”
Then you got a good deal.” GRRR I am thinking about trying again, but I am a little skeptical.

          • Ginger

Same thing with me. Maybe it was a mistake last week, and they fixed it? Bummer.

            • Jackie

I went yesterday and did several transactions at the cosmetics counter where I got the $5/ $25 deal ( I have multiple little ones so diapers and wipes were the order of the day)… for all the transactions, they had to “total” out the transaction, then apply whatever coupons I had, and then take off the RRs I was using to pay… it worked like a charm.

I even did a transaction where I bought a bunch of the Scotch Mailers (I run a business from home) to total over $25, took the coupon off, and paid tax on them… AND got the $5/ $25 deal on those too…

I think you just need to tell the cashier to subtotal before subtracting coupons… and, like many have mentioned, make friends with one of them and try to always go to her. My girl at the cosmetics counter knows I come in on Wednesdays and she’s all ready for me… I was shopping with my small army of babies yesterday and she even had a spare shopping cart for my purchases (so I could push the stroller myself) and helped me out to the car… yeah, making friends with the ladies at cosmetics is a good way to go…

    • Jennifer

I had the same problem as Becky. I have to go back and also get them to correct an incorrect price. Argh.

    • Alicia

I spent over $25 before coupons, and didn’t get the $5RR either. I still came out with a good deal, but was disappointed to lose out on $5.

    • Joy

If you play the Walgreen’s holiday match game under holiday on Facebook you can print a coupon for
2/$1 Hershey’s Santa or Reese’s Tree, 1.2 oz.chocolates. Great for stocking stuffers. It can print several times too!

    • Meme

I also had a huge problem at Walgreens today. None of my RR’s printed out and the stock was low. The manager was nice and kept at it until he got the $5 off $25, and a $4 and $2 RR.

I could tell it was after all coupons were deducted because I was supposed to come out at $19 or so and it ended up being $29 plus. Don’t ask me how I ended up so much more than the $25 but it was getting so confusing I just let it go.

I did pretty well on the other transactions and the candy was .29 today only. I only got 4, wish I had gotten more because he said a delivery is coming in the morning to restock the olives and other things I really wanted. (olives are the only way to get my Grdaughter to eat her salad so we use a lot.)

I feel I did much better than before, but it is against my personality to insist that the clerk just start ovet and see if the machine behaves itself and rings up a lower price. The clerk kept saying I didn’t have enough purchases to get the $5 to print so I just kept handing him things and trying to remember I had coupons to go with those items. I think some mistakes were made along the way and not just by me. Starting over would have been the fastest way to go actually.

    • Tammy

Make sure to have them total the order before they start taking off RR and coupons…. also make sure you have more items than RRs and coupons throw in some small items like pencils with coupons 8 for $1

      • Meme

Thank you Tammy for your suggestions.

I did have the clerk subtotal before coupons. I explained before we started that I needed to go slowly (I even let another man go before me so that I wasn’t holding up anyone.

No problem with number of items, I had way more items than coupons.

I think the problem came from the machine having a problem. Then I let them just keep making the situation worse. Like I said before, I should have said, “let’s just void this order and start over”. I apologized the whole time and even said “let’s try to find some humor in this situation”, anything to lighten the aggravation.

I only used manufacturer coupons on two items and no previous RR’s of any kind. I purchased 8 items. See why I am so upset with myself for being too easy on them?

I even had my prescription filled for $8 when I think Publix would have filled it for free. Talk about Walgreen loyalty.

        Signed, WIMP! LOL

        • Mina

You’re not a wimp. It was just one of THOSE days for you. At least you had a mgr who was willing to try to get it right. It WILL get easier. The more you get used to way things are supposed to work, the more confident you will get. AND the more quickly you will notice when something isn’t going right so that you can back up and correct the problem before it gets messier.

          • Meme

Thanks, Mina, I needed that pat on the back. It’s a wonder I could do anything at all. I had just come from the Dr. suffering from a sinus infection. I was waiting on my prescription to be filled or would not have been in a store at all. No makeup because of my eyes being so sensitive. I must have looked a mess.

You’re right about it getting easier. It already is a lot easier. The first few visits with my list (which I had worked on for days) I had panic attacks and just froze. It’s a long story but a big comeback from a complete breakdown after being an office manager and head accountant/bookkeeper for a fairly large construction business.

Thanks for all the support on this site. It has made a financial meltdown more bearable. Put me more in control.

Jenny, if you’re watching post, thank you for posting the ads early. I have a $10 ECB expiring Jan. 7, and next week’s ads are more to my needs.

            Thank you everyone! Meme

    • Krischa Pilcher

I’ve had the managers ring up stuff for less to in essence give me the RR money if it didn’t print out. Example today it wouldn’t take one of my $5RR from the $25 previous purchase so the manager adjusted my Gillette razor from $8.99 to $3.99 so I would get my $5RR money. They have done other examples similar to this if it didn’t print out on a product that I purchased. Try asking your manager to do this if you don’t get a RR that you are suppose to get. Like a lot of people have said, get to know your employees and go to a store that works with you. I have my favorite! Hope this helps someone!

      • Ginger

I wish. The mgr at my Wags is kind of a jerk, and he was ringing cosmetics. I had them subtotal before any Qs and still didn’t get my 5$. I know from dealing with him before that arguing is useless, and he doesn’t understand couponing, anyway. I still got a good deal, so I let it go. It still bugs a little, tho. :)

    • Tiffani

Had a hard time at my Walgreen’s. Had to be rung up 3 different times because I was at the wrong register and then didn’t hand her the coupon first. Don’t think the MGR was happy to see me. The 5RR’s didn’t print out because they did it after coupons, but I used my 10 RR’s to buy 4 toys and paid $5 OOP.

    • Liz

I had a good trip yesterday. I still think Walgreens is too confusing and I know I spent more than I could have. One item rang up wrong and didn’t give a RR (so obviously it was the wrong item!) and another was not part of the hair elastic coupon. I was going to go back in but then I remember people saying its not worth returning items from Walgreens if you paid with RR and received RR with your purchase? The cashier was really nice and even split up my transaction once it hit $25…Overall, I was happy walking out with three huge bags for $22 while the customer behind me told the cashier “can I just use all of her coupons?”. I told her about Southern Savers in the parking lot! I have not shopped in drugstores in a while because I didn’t understand how the ECB and the RR worked and I would always end up not using them. Thank you so much, Jenny for this website!

    • Mina

I haven’t looked at your site in a few days because I’ve been at Wag’s.

Well, not really, but I was either there or getting ready to go back all day. I had my Family & Friends q’s printed before I went to bed on Wednesday. (Anyone who has already jumped to the conclusion that I was clearing the shelves of something you would have gotten is flat out wrong.)

There was no problem using them or getting the $5HDRR to print. The total needed was before q’s, but after the discount, which comes off of each item, not at the end. That means that you had to calculate what your $25 total with that discount in mind. Despite the way that Jenny posted it, which was probably simply for clarity of numbers and not the actual order in which that type of transaction would have rung, the Discount Coupon must be rung BEFORE any items are rung, and must be used at Cosmetics or Photo only.

If I had today to do over, I would have done a few things differently, and done better. I just had too much to try to accomplish in one day. It was still a very productive two trips. I only forgot to buy two things that aren’t even on sale. I can get those tomorrow. My RR’s are now down to their normally low level. Instead of RR’s, I have enough GoodNites to last a month, more food in the pantry, and some small gifts to pass around.

    • Michele

Walgreens would not accept my F&F 15% coupon yesterday .I even called late last night and the manager on duty found all the information and I was still unable to use it. Hopefully today will be a much better day shopping.
