Walgreens Weekly Ad 11/1-11/7

on 10.31.2009 at 12:47am

This post may contain affiliate links. Read our disclosure here.

These deals start Sunday 11/1 at Walgreens.  It is a very dismal ad in terms of free deals.  After coupons there are a couple of deals that get below $1.  The only thing that get’s me feeling like a trip is Gillette products for less than $1.  I’m holding out that we can find some great monthly deals!  I’ll keep you updated on any that are found and please share if you find any!!

Hey! was wondering if anyone had the .99 coloring book?? if you do can you post the upc on the back of it? trying to get it ordered :)

      • Jennifer

I went to all of the local Walgreens stores in my area looking for this Coloring book during the time that you could get the 3 boxes of Band-Aids free. The stores kept it in pharmacy behind counter & had alot of them, I just had to ask pharmacist.

        • Cathy

At mine they were out in the pharmacy waiting area in a display.

    • Tori

The UPC code for the coloring book is
      3 1191710922 0

      • lynn

awesome! ur going to make a lot of people happy in nc! :) thanks!

        • WHat is the coloring book?

          • lynn

it’s a coloring book that costs .99 cents and has a bunch of coupons in it. so entertain ur kids and save money! :)

            • Cathy

I bought two for filler and later realized you only need one… The coupons don’t get collected and multiples don’t do any extra good.

    • Misty

Good Morning, I just wanted to say that my Wal-Mart has Charmin 18 roll toliet paper for 10.00 & in the pack you get a 15.00 coupon booklet, & if you buy Febreeze Fabric Spray for $4.97 you get a 10.00 coupon book,…just thought id share this so pep could be on the look out for these…..And Thank you Southern Savers for all the help,it deffinently taught me to keep my eyes open!!!!

    • How can you order the Walgreens coloring book? I have looked in all the stores and have been unable to find it anywhere. Thanks for info.

      • Lisa

        It’s in the pharmacy

        • Debbie

The store manager can order it and usually is very willing. They just run out and then have a time finding out the UPC code to order more is what my manager said.

      • kurstin

I’ve found the Walgreens activity books in the toy section, usually buried behind coloring books or on the very lowest shelf shoved all the way to the back, behind other activity books. They’re paperback (maybe 10 pages or so) and 10×10, so very easy to miss!

    • Laura K

If you’ve found the $3/2 Johnson & Johnson Red Cross Items blinkie at Publix (I saw it about a month ago), using one of those and one of the $1/1 on the Johnson & Johnson deal makes three kits completely free after RR’s.

      • Beth

The kits aren’t listed in the deal, just the items in the parentheses.

        • Laura K

True, I mis-spoke (mis-typed?). But the $3/2 blinkie is off any J&J products so it will work.

    • Stacy

Does anyone know if the order of the coupons/RR matters at Walgreens. I had a very hard time yesterday getting the best deals because of all the beeping from the register. The cashier said I couldn’t use coupons on top of RR. (??) I had him switch the order and give the RR’s first and then the coupons. It worked better, but I still wasn’t able to use all of my manufactor’s coupons! I’d never had such a time before. Has any policy changes?

      • Tegan

I normally hand over coupons in a stack, organized in the order I’d like them scanned: manufacturer, store monthly/in-ad coupon, then RR’s to prevent negative balance. However, some cashier will scan the coupons in the order of their liking. I had a cashier told me I couldn’t use a manufacturer’s coupon or a RR reward on a different RR deal. However, this isn’t true and you could argue the point with the cashier/manager.

Sometimes things will work in our favor. One time a cashier scanned the RR’s first and the coupons last; the register wouldn’t accept the last manufacturer coupon because it would have gone into tax payment. The cashier was nice enough to adjust the coupon value giving me a balance of pennies! I think it comes down to their moods and ability to work the register.

      • Kelly

Stacy, I was recently told that you can’t use a RR AND a mfg coupon on the same one item. If you use the mfg coupon then you will have to have a coupon like $1/3 in order to have 2 items that are unaccounted for from a mfg coupon perspective, then you have 2 opportunities for RR use. You can however use the mfg coupon AND a store coupon. It’s the number of items not attached to the mfg coupons that will allow you to use your RR. This is why it is sometimes beneficial to buy a small candy or really cheap item so that you can use a RR. Hope this helps.

    • Caution at Walgreens. Found out this week that our Walgreens will not accept MC with deals, RR, etc. items. The manager told me they have an agreement with P&G to sponsor & they considers this stacking. Eventually, or possibly even now, they will only honor RR with P&G items, but I haven’t tried. We lost coupons and never got the extra discount. We live in Commerce, GA, 1/2 way between Greenville, SC & Atlanta, GA.

      • Teresa-QOCD

exactly why I stopped shopping there. There is only 1 Wags in Laurens SC and I aint going there. Sis-in-law stopped shopping there too!

      • lynn

absolutely false. call corporate. i guarantee this is not true! :)

      • Call 1-800-WALGREENS report this mgr. He makes the rest of us look bad

    • vicky

when I try to use the walgreens coupon from the november or october flyer they sAY THAT THEY ARE MANI QS AND NOT STORE QS. ANY THOUGHTS

      • Tegan

You should be able to use Walgreens Oct/Nov store flyer coupons in combination with an insert/internet coupon. It’s similar to the Rite Aid adperk/flyer coupons that say “manufacturer coupon,” but it’s just an instore coupon that you can stack anything else with.

      • lynn

those are definitely store coupons. they don’t say man coupon on them. you can tell with a wag coupon. they will have a whole bunch of 0000000’s then 4=5 digits. they can be used together. hand over ur man coupons first then the instore. if someone in a store told you this, they are misinformed.

    • Laura K

Oh, and though the ad doesn’t picture any candle, the Multi-Wick Glade candle is possibly (probably?) The Fragrance Collection kind, on which you can use the $3/1 from 10/4 SS. That coupon is also good for the scented reed diffuser. So $2 for either.

      • Jessica

I purchased 2 of the candles yesterday and used 2 – $3 off and the $1/2 Glade products from their Nov coupon book. The register did not want to take this coupon but management says YES an adjusted it for me. $1.50 each :)

    • elaine

I still have my 2 $3.50 off Glade Fragrance Collection so I can make it a small moneymaker. THANKS!

      • ginger

I have a couple of those left too. How are you making it a moneymaker? Thanks.

        • big john

my guess what was meant was candle is 3.99. use 3.50 off leaving .49 cents get 1 dollar rr. kinda like making .51 cents minus tax of course.

    • Susan

Where is the Pantene store coupon located?

      • Michelle

There is a Walgreens coupon book at the front of the store with the sale flyers.

Jenny posted to use the Pantene with stylers, but when I tried it on hair gel today (as per her scenario) it wouldn’t work. And the coupon doesn’t say anything except shampoo.

        • Gerri

The same thing happened to me today. They would not let me use the store coupon because it says shampoo or conditioner and I had bought hairspray because my MC was for stylers. So I used the MCs but not the store coupon.

    • andrea

Question… i got the herbal essence free product coupon. can i use that to get my free herbal essence plus use the free styler why any herbal essence and pay nothing but still get back $2 rr. Didn’t know if walgreens would do this. any thoughts??

      • Debbie

It should work as long as you buy what is required to get the RR. the coupons you use has never effected whether I get the rebate. Let us know if it works…

        • andrea

thanks! i did try it. I used my free gorgeous giveaway coupon to get shampoo and the free b1g1 to get my free styler. So i paid nothing, and i got the 2 rr. hope it works for you too!

        • MarySC

It worked for me too. Two Herbal Essences, 2 Nyquils, and 2 Ricolas for a little over $7 with $5 RR. And I missed the second store coupon for the Ricola… .50 off in the “Healthy Savings” store flyer.

          • sarah d

What Healthy Savings booklet? the only one I could find was the November Big Joy (light green) one.

And, the November light green book also has the .50 off on Ricola which will make it 2/.29 – wish I had seen that before I cashed out

        • Amber

I tried the Herbal Essences deal the other day, and did not receive my $2RR. Maybe I did it wrong, but I got a conditioner and a gel and used the B1G1 free styler. Any comments? Should it have worked, or did I do something wrong?

    • RM

ok you all I know that Walgreen’s can be a nightmare but check this out I went to the family dollar tonight in an effort to use some coupons and boy was that a mistake! I gathered all the items in my buggy took them to the cashier and handed over my coupons none of which were printed and I was told that I could not use all those coupons. Yikes I was so aggravated asked for my coupons back and kindly explained no way i could be the only coupon er shopping there. Also said I would not be back. THEY DIDN’T CARE. Such a bummer I just want to stick to what works for me.. Bi-lo, pub lix,cvs wags and rite aid.

      • christie

Hi I would call the home office for family dollar I was a manager there for 10 years and that is not true you can use as many coupons as you want as long as you have one coupon per item. My friend is still a manager there and she said the same.Family Dollars policy is the customer is always right and to please ever customer. I have th home office number if you would like it.

    • Natasha

Just a heads up, in the Augusta area our Walgreens flyer, even though RR on DayQuil and NyQuil is supposed to be $5 until 12/31/09… it is only $3RR now… well, that is what the ad says anyway. :(

      • Donna

Yes, I was wondering about this too? Did the RR for Nyquil/Dayquil change? How can we confirm?

      • MarySC

The $5 RR is only for certain items… I wanted the heavy duty “please make me sleep” NyQuil and it is not on the list. I was happy with the $3 though!

      • Jessica

I did the Nyquil deal yesterday and it was a $3 RR for the 6 oz., but I also bought the larger ones too. The 10-12 oz. (12 oz. is 25% more bonus) and received a $5 RR on those. Hope this helps.

    • sc couponer

Are there regional differences in the P&G insert? I cannot find the Herbal Essences coupon to save my soul!

    • Maria

I did transaction scenario number 2. 2 pantene and 1 filler (3 items). I had 2-$2 of Pantene, 1-$1 in store and $2 RR (that’s 4 coupons for 3 items, it didn’t work) I had to get an additional filler. Maybe it was just my cashier or the scenerio needs to be corrected. Thank you.

      • lynn

maria that’s 3 man coupons and 1 store coup for 3 items. as long as you don’t have more man q’s than products. the order that has always worked for me…hand over ur rr, then any other man q’s, then finally the store coupons. just hold them all and hand them over one at a time if you have to. :)

        • Maria

thank you for your reply. The cashier did started with the store ad coupon, then Man. Q and last my RR then I got a beep and had to get an extra item. Lucky for me there were alot of Halloween items on clearance for $.10.

    • Megan

I too STRUGGLE with Walgreens. I don’t blame the cashiers though. The registers are so sensitive. Walgreens does not empower there employees at all. The reason the cashiers get so frustrated is because their line backs up when the computer continually beep on our coupons. I think they would be fine pushing us through if the register didn’t beep so much. Also, THE EMPLOYEES DO NOT UNDERSTAND THE RR PROGRAM. Walgreens has obviously taken no time to explain the program to the employees. It’s just human nature to be frustrated when you don’t understand something. Said all of that to say… I too am considering not going to Walgreens anymore. It’s just a PAIN!! Bad ads like this week, makes it easier.

      • As a service clerk at WAG, some of the problem is time. If it is multiple transactions for one person that takes up much more time, especially if the customer is new at “the game”. Store policy is to call if 3 or more is in line. If there is one person with 4 transactions (happens all the time) and you get 2 more in line you now have 6 people according to transaction numbers. Sometimes the register won’t let you do it because you don’t have enough items to mactch number of manufacturer’s coupons. In that case, buy the candy bar the cashier offers. She will get a very small commission on it and surely the .69 you spend is worth the time she spends helping you. Also, don’t get upset if you have multiple transactions and she asks you to wait a moment to ring up someone with a single small sale. She is trying to help you as well as not lose a customer because of excessive waiting. We have many duties as well as cashiering and sometimes the coupons really can make it difficult to do our jobs.

        • Colleen

Sue, I totally understand where you are coming from. I worked as a manager for 7+ years at Hecht’s(now Macy’s). The thing that frustrates the customers is “the game” as you call it. I don’t know why Walgreens has to make it so damn difficult to use those stupid RR’s! Why can’t they be more like the ECB’s? We could just use them to deduct from our total sale and you wouldn’t have to play “the game” by buying stupid little filler items, etc! It would make your life and my life a hell of a lot easier!!!!!

        • lynn

sue…as an employee of wag you also know that NO ONE WAITS. isn’t that the motto? if you have a customer with a fistful of coupons, there is you, a cosmetics, and a photo person (possibly a floor person) to help everyone work thru things smoothly. call an IC3 as soon as you see someone with lots of products(especially products you know have rr’s) and coupons. just like you said…imagine that you actually have 6 people in line when there’s only 2 or 3. work it out! it’s not serious and saving money is crazy important these days! these people playing ‘the game’ as you call it are customers too.

          • i encourage and help those who coupon, to the extent of pointing out things they have missed. Luckily my customers are understanding but it sounds as many are not. Yes, we have other counters, but sometimes they (especially in a busy store like ours) are often with customers during what we call prime time hours. I was not complaining about “the game” (our fun name for it), but asking for more understanding and patience from the customers.

            • Tarrah R.

I’m upset to see some of you attacking this Wags employee- She was trying to help us understand their viewpoint. We’re no better than anyone else, and I feel it is selfish and inconsiderate to expect all of our transactions to be taken care of before other ‘regular’ customers. I do not consider myself a regular customer at all- i ONLY get the ‘deals’ and I only buy items I have coupons for. I gladly step behind someone if I have multiple transactions, and will do so after each transaction. Thank you Sue, for your insight, and the NICE way you presented it. God Bless!

Does anyone know of a gift card offer with a new prescription for either CVS or Walgreens?

      • Tracie

No, but I you can use the Rite Aid $25 prescription transfer coupon at Wags.

      • kurstin

I just got two “coupons” for $25 gift card at CVS w/ new or transferred prescription in the Wed. paper…

        • I got something in the mail from our Walgreens and from CVS so make sure they have your address in their systems.

      • mydeere5

I had 2 from CVS about a month ago and just received one from Walgreens last week. You may just want to ask your pharmacist, I see this deal going all the time so they may do it for you even if you don’t have the printed offer.

    • Gail

Jenny, We don’t even get the Gillette products in our ads here in Colorado. So there is not much to go there for this week!

      • anne

Gail, I got Gillette cpns in the Denver Post today for refills and disposible razors. Wonder why you did not get any??

    • LindaB

Does anyone know how much WAGS is selling the 2010 Entertainment Book for? I see a $10.00 Wags coupon on the back page of their insert. I love these books just hate the high price…right now they are going for about $30-$35 other places.

      • Erin

I think they are $30 before $10 off

      • lynn

        yea…they went up from last yr! they’re 30 :(

        • Maria

The Ent. Book price varies on the area you live. The Fort Lauderdale book cost $35. Call the store and ask for the price in your area

      • Sandra

I ordered mine from Entertainment.com and paid $35, but got a Restaurant.com coupon for ordering… so guess that wasn’t too bad

      • Hope

Check with your local public schools – they are selling as fundraisers. I bought one for $20.00 a few weeks back. The U-Save q that can be used at Publix paid for the book for me.

    • Crystal

I accidentally posted this under Rite-Aid, but it goes here…

The P&G coupon for Bounce dryer bar is 50 cents off, NOT $1.50 off.

      • Clarissa

I think it is a regional variation. The bounce bar coupon I got was for $1/1 while others may have gotten the $1.50/1.

        • Colleen

I was wondering if anyone got the $1.50 off ones. We (nashville) only got the .50 ones too which is a bummer. The Dryer bar scenario is the only one I really need to do.

    • Jason

The Prilosec original price is $24.99, not $19.99. That means the CVS deal this week is better, since the price & reward are the same, but there’s a limit of 2, so you can use the higher-value $7/2 coupon.

      • mel

i was also going to post about this and see if maybe she just made a mistake or if there really was a way to get the prilosec for $11.99.

    • Maria

Ladies, my Walgreens had all the Holloween novelty items (including custom most range between 19.99 – 7.99 before the discount) on sale evething 75% off the org. price. I had great bargains for next year.

    • Is anybody else having trouble with the Recession Payback game for the tomato sauce and orville r.’s coupons? I can’t get step three to work.

      • Karen

It worked fine for me on 2 separate occasions. I had to wait a few seconds for it to load after step 3. I hope you were eventually successful! :)

    • Sindy

Reidville Rd, SC, 75% of Halloween items and 50% off candy…

    • Margie

I have a random question about shampoo coupons. When something says “styler” – does that mean hairspray/gel or ALL hair products? Can I use a “styler” coupon on plain shampoo?

      • Maria

        styler relates to hair gel/spray/mouse

    • Karen

I live in North Alabama, and we did not get the PG insert with our paper! :( I did however, find a coupon for TAG B1G1 in PG 9/27.

    • Christi

hey I went around my wags today and couldnt find any tags for the new monthly RR deals. Has anyone else found any?

      • Clarissa

My wag’s rarely ever has their RR deals posted (at least when I go on Sundays). That’s why I always grab an ad when I walk in to make sure that I know what to get. And in case an RR doesn’t print, I have the ad in hand to show that it was supposed to have one (or I get shown which item I was supposed to buy, lol, I’m not perfect).

      • It depends on the store, they are supposed to go up with ad-tags, but that could be a dm decision. Ours are up by Sun morning. Sometimes they don’t get to us through our computer and we don’t realize it until it is brought to our attention, then we make one.

    • stylers do not include shampoo and conditioner

    • cj
      • Kathleen

        Thanks CJ :]
I love getting the direct link to the printable!!

Thanks Jenny, can’t say it enough… having this site is
so wonderful for getting deals… YOU ROCK!!

    • I am sorry some Wags are giving a hard time to stacking coupons. I have never had a problem at any of our Wags as long as:

      1. I give them the store Q’s first and then all others.
      2. I have the same amount of items and Q’s/RR’s per transaction. ( a cheap filler such as a pencil, pen etc. that is marked down or seasonal comes in handy)

      You rock Jenny !

You are all awesome with your comments and tips…thank you !

    • Thanks to C.J. for the link to the Lubriderm Q…we use the stuff all the time !

    • Sandra

help…tried to print the soy candle q and the dial soap q and couldn’t get either to print. No prints available.

    • Just a note on the Pantene deal… the November savings booklet coupon specifically states $1.00 off only the 23.7 or 25.4 oz shampoo or conditioner. It is NOT good for the products on this week’s RR promo (which is 8-13.5 oz)

    • Valejona

Hello everybody I’ve been reading all the comments about Walgreens employees and as an employee I am agree that sometimes the coupons don’t work and sometimes the registers give us a hard time. But what I recommend u to do is instead of pay at the front register I invite u to go to cosmetics where there is no big lines and frustrated cashiers, u could take ur time to play with the coupons.
I have a customer that she comes ones a week and she goes straight to the cosmetics counter and look for us to start playing.
Whoever wants to come to my store I’ll be happy to help you, I work in Gainesville, GA (Gabby) and ready to learn together with you.

      • Lynn

That’s so nice. I wish I lived near Gainsville just to come in and say hi! I have a good cashier where I shop and she’s always trying to make sure I get it right.

    • lavanya

Thanks for all the hard work you do. yours was the first website i discovered about couponing when i was searching for some ad a few months ago.
I have a diaper related question- did not know where exactly to put this question-
all the diaper deals that you and others here get how much does it cost for each diaper???….because we buy from costco and size 6 is a pack of 144 and it costs us 29-30 cents per diaper.. how much cheap does yours work out to be?
      Please please let me know.

    • stephanie

Hello, My aunt purchased the bayer test kits and has given me $30.00 worth of $5.00 RR’s to use. How can I use these. I am new to walgreen type of shopping. Thanks for your help.

      • LD

I would go over to the Almay deal thread [click up top on walgreens] and do that deal turn your $5 into 15 buy buying the pure blends make up and mascara, the others wont give you a rr but would be free. I think you can do the Lubriderm with you Bayer too . But not sure what parent company makes Bayer .

    • JRH

Sweet! Got 3 of my husband’s favorite Mitchum deodorant for $6 plus tax. Normally it would have been $5 a piece at Teeter.

    • amy

the johnson and johnson first aid deal at walgreens is good this week.
Tape, gauze, bandages are on sale $3.99 (regular price $4.99-$8.99).
Buy 3 at $3.99 receive $8 register rewards.
      Makes each one about $1.75.
      Great deal.
Stock up on first aid so you have it when you need it.
      Thank you.

    • Rebecca

Does Walgreens accept competitors store coupons, like Target?

    • sarah d

Ricola coupons: if you are still heading off to WAGS to use your B1G1 Ricola coupon, remember to look in this week’s flyer for a coupon that makes each bag $1.29 and THEN look in the light green November coupon book and find the .50 Ricola coupon. You will pay .29 for 2 bags….great deal….too bad I did not see it before I paid. The sweet cashier offered to get the mgr for a refund, but he had already been over to push a stubborn MQ thru for me and wanted to save my help requests for another day

    • aMBER

I found two more great deals today. Kleenex are .9 cents after using the ad coupon and the coupon in the new healthy start November book. Also, the new packs of noxzema disposable razors are on sale for 1.99 and some of them have a coupon for 2.00….makes them FREE

    • AMBER

I also work at Walgreens. The cosmetic department is usually the best place to go if you want the freedom to take your time. It helps us and you.

    • AMBER

I almost forgot another awesome deal. Most Walgreens have Bare natural eye shadow and liner on clearance for 2.50. The new November book has a coupon for 3 0ff. It will only work with two because the product is less but if you have a 1.00 or 2.00 loreal coupon you can get them both for free.
