    • Ashley

      I have a question yall.

I worked out my whole plan and scenario for my 3rd trip to Walgreens. I had done my first two trips at the same store and the 3rd was at a second Walgreens. I paid out of pocket $4.08 but at this second store my $5 on $25 didn’t print. I used $17 RR and was planning on $11 RR back. I spoke with the assistant manager and blah blah blah. He told me to call in the morning to speak with store manager.

Should I just let this go, or try to have her understand to side with the customer since I recieved the rr’s at another store, or do you think she’ll even credit me the $5?

      • weslie

did you use a $5 for spending $25 RR in your 3rd transaction? If you did them I believe that’s why a new one didn’t print out. but i’m really new to walgreens RRs.

        • Ashley

I did but I used one on my second transaction from my first transaction and it still printed out.

          • Mina

That would be the reason that it didn’t print. They are not supposed to print if one was used while buying the products. You just lucked out when you did the second trans. It could have been that you actually used a different $5RR on that one, or that it didn’t scan is was put through in a way that the system didn’t realize it was the HDRR. Whatever it was, the second store doesn’t owe you the $5HDRR.

You can prevent problems like this one by using the HDRR to buy smaller items that give RR’s. Then using those in your next $25 transaction.

            • Ashley

Thanks Mina! Looks like I just lucked out. Although on another coupon blogger site, she said “It looks like AS OF NOW they are rolling”. And maybe that’s why my first one did.

      • San

The same thing happened to me today. So, since mines didn’t print, I returned everything. I got more cash back than I paid out. So I profited.

        • AC

Happend to me too, I didn’t get the 5 RR from 25 but I didn’t use one from a previous and the girl was not letting me use register rewards even though I had plenty of items to cover the number of coupons. She said I wasn’t allowed to pay so little for my items…. skipping that cosmetics counter cashier from now on. I was a little peeved about not being able to use the RR I didn’t notice the $5 from $25 didn’t print till I had left.

          • Lori Davidson

Walgreens is such a PAIN! Had I known that I wouldn’t get the $5 RR for my purchase I would have used it to make things a little more worthwhile. So, I bought the toilet paper, 3 cokes, 1 diaper, 3 Puffs, and 1 box of Turtles (which was more than enough for the $25 deal). Then, two $2 RR printed but no $5 RR. So, had I known this, I would have used the $5 RR on the toilet paper and Puffs and then bought other stuff for the $25 to make it worthwhile. I’m really considering not going there anymore, since they are a real pain (after I use my $4 in RR). CVS is so much easier and can be so much cheaper, if you plan it right. UGH!

            • Melissa

It takes a real whiner to complain about getting things for free or really cheep.

      • holly

Where do you get the Walgreens activity book from with the coupons that are mentioned. I am looking for the huggies coupon

        • denielle

it is normally in the holiday isle!!

        • Shay

The Holiday Activity Book was on the counter in the pharmacy at my WAGS. It has a $1.00 off Huggies and $2.00 off Band Aid that are great, plus a whole lot more. The book costs $.99.

    • I was at my favorite Wags today and they got a FedEx with some Family and Friends coupons to give out- they gave me one. :) It’s valid on 12/18 only, 15% off your total purchase.

      Here’s what I will do
      1 Huggies 8.99
      1 fill $.50
      Total $9.49

      -15% discount= $1.42
      -$2/1 Huggies ip
-$1/1 Huggies Wags q (from Activity book)
-$5 store coupon from this week’s buy $25, get $5 coupon deal

      =$.07 + tax
      ~earn $2rr (Huggies)

      • Jackie

Since RRs are considered coupons, I think you need 1 more filler item at least in order to redeem it… just a heads up… I know my local ones cannot do higher coupon amounts than item amounts, and I’ve read most if not all are like that, so… those Christmas pencils for $.20 are pretty good for that!

        • No- this transaction will work as it is written, two items, two mq’s: one rr and one huggies mq. The 15% is a store coupon and does not count, nor does the Activity book coupon which is also a store coupon.

          • And actually, come to think of it, since the $5 Holiday coupon is a store coupon as well, I wouldn’t need the fill at all, other than to bring my total up to cover the total of q’s presented. There’s only one mq in the transaction- store q’s don’t count. OTOH, if I used a $5rr instead of a store coupon from this week’s deals, I would need that second fill to cover the number of mq’s.

            • Jackie

Oh, our Wags is very, very strict on coupons, regardless of the source, so that transaction would never fly with my local store… yeay for you!!! Lucky!

      • Mina

Don’t be surprised if your deal winds up looking like this:
        Here’s what I will do
        1 Huggies 7.64 (15% applied)
        1 fill $.43 (15% applied)
        Total $8.07

        -$2/1 Huggies ip
-$.85/1 Huggies Wags q (from Activity book)(15% applied)
-$4.25 store coupon from this week’s buy $25, get $5 coupon deal (15% applied)

        =$.97 + tax
        ~earn $2rr (Huggies)

You’re likely to find the employee discount applies to store coupons as well as prices.

    • JEB

I am confused and upset. LAst night I used a register reward to buy something over $25 and according to the 4 day sale ad, if you spend $25, then you get $5 register rewards…Mine did not print. I should have voided the transaction or asked for rewards back or gotten a manager, but I was tired and it was late and there was line of people behind me…The cashier said if you pay with register rewards, then it won’t print new ones….now I know I have done that very thing at another Walgreens at least twice, and my register rewards printed when I paid with register rewards….I want to go back and talk to manager or return everything and rebuy but do it in the proper sequence…I feel like they owe me $5….

      • JEB

If I had known it was not going to print, then I would have used the $5 RR to pay for a princess toy gift that after RR and $4 off toy coupon would have been $1!! Instead, I bought that in second transaction but ended up having to pay $6 for it….If I go back today and buy another item over $25 will it print $5 RR? If so, then I will use that to buy another toy….Then return the stuff I got the night before later…not trying to make a profit or fraud, just wanted to get my toy for $1!

        • If you have time today, take all your stuff back with the receipts and have them refund it and start over. You might figure out what happened during the transaction. My Walgreens employees are the best and are super helpful. Hopefully yours will be too!

        • Loving WAGS deals

What has worked for me with getting this $5 off RR to print – someone suggested last week – get the cashier to total your order before your give them any in-ad coupons, manu coupons, RR, etc. I did this several times this week and it always worked. If they start scanning your coupons before they total the order it might bring you down below $25 and the register doesn’t recognize the pre-coupon total, unless the cashier pushed the total button first.

    • jen

I had an issue at my wags with the 4 day sale. They had the flier in the front of the store, but NONE of the free items (free after RR) were marked. Usually, all the RR are marked in my store. So I asked two different employees which items were correct. They didn’t really know what to tell me, so I got what looked like was the product in the picture and NO RR’s printed out. I was only a little upset (mainly b/c my toddler was starting to get crazy) and told them just to void it all. My wags is usually pretty good, but even with the manager over there I was getting the, “we must be out of that item/we don’t know what’s going on” schpeel. I knew they weren’t out of it b/c there were no empty spots on shelves for an inventory item or whatever. Oh well. But I do have a question about the diapers this week. Is the huggies/goodnights/pullups RR all one or are they all separate? Like, can I buy one huggies and one pullups and have two RRs print, or can I only do one per transaction to get a RR to print? Thanks! (also I think you can submit the pullups and huggies for a rebate via the caregivers marketplace….75/package)

      • Corrie

My walgreens didn’t have those items tagged, either, and didn’t want to help me find them.

        • Jess

An employee at my walgreens said they don’t mark the shelves with the 4-day sale prices because it’s such a short sale.

          • Blyss

We have two in my city and I went to the first got my items which werent marked but it was shown in the pictures and nothing printed out. So I voided it and went to the other store figuring maybe I just didnt get what was on sale but I got the same things (which were marked at this one) and they printed so I called that other store and asked them why they didnt print and they had no clue about a 4day sale at all…but I thought the cats were run by like a company wide thing. I dont know it was weird.

      • The Huggies deals are all “one deal” so you can only get one pack in a transaction to get the rr’s.

My store didn’t get their tags in until Thursday so they just got the signage up yesterday. Which items are you looking for in particular?

        • jen

I was able to get the neutrogena men’s skin care, but I had them ring up a couple of the other items (renu and scunci and conair) and none of them rang up at the right price or printed at a RR. I just got fed up with it and left. But it’s ok b/c I purchased enough other stuff to get the $5 RR for $25.. it was just frustrating.

          • Loving WAGS deals

The Easley store, I think, didnt have the free items labeled, so I just got what was pictured in the ad.

    • Corrie

Can someone in Huntsville, AL recommend a Walgreens that is helpful and friendly to couponers? I’ve decided not to go back to the Whitesburg drive location because I always get the same grouchy cashier. If there’s a better Wags, I wouldn’t mind a driving a little farther!

      • jen

try the one near Target in Jones valley. most of the time there are a few RRs that don’t print, but the manager is always friendly and willing to help. in fact, when he sees my husband come in (he does the shopping after i make the lists), he offers to ring him up personally.

      • beth

Both the ones on University Dr. and on S. Parkway are good as well. I love the one on S. Parkway because they always mark the RR deals, and I love the one on University because the overnight cashiers (two different guys) are always so nice. The one on University doesn’t mark their RR deals though, so be sure to grab a flier to make sure you’re buying the right things.

      • Shannon

I have had the same issue with the Whitesburg Walgreens. It is the closest to my house, but I really avoid it. I have had good luck with the one in Jones Valley and the one on Bob Wallace/Triana. The one on Bob Wallace seems to have things that are out of stock elsewhere too.
        Good luck!

    • Sheena

Does anyone know if you can get the $5 RR when you buy gift cards?

      • Sheena

To clarify: If I buy $25 gift card will I get $5 RR? Sorry …

      • Mina

Things like gift cards, tobacco, alcohol, postage stamps… aren’t supposed to be bought with or generate RR’s.

    • Loving WAGS deals

I went into the WAGS on N. Pleasantburg this (Sat 12/2) morning,(they still had some of the freebies for the sale that ends today. Got another set of cute butterfly clips and some men’s neutrogena.) But, when I walked in the door, there was a lady greeting everyone and handing out sheets of walgreens coupons. They are all store coupons and they are on white copy paper. I doubt if I will try to use these at any other store, but they are good until 12/24. Lots of gift-y things – $2 off snuggies, perfect brownie pan, etc. Also $1 off huggies wipess. Many more… 4 pages in all.

      • Sheena

Is this the Wags at E. North St. & Pleasantburg? If so, that’s my favorite store. They are SO helpful in there and never seem to get irritated with all my questions and coupons!

        • Sloan

yes, that one! I usually shop at the WAGS in Cherrydale, but happened to be on this side. They were very nice. =)

          • Nette

I got those at the Mauldin store today, too, so I would guess you could use them at any Wags. :)

      • Mina

Don’t worry. Those are legit Wag’s q’s. You can present them at any Wag’s. What she gave you was just like a monthly q book, or the Wag’s online q’s (Yes, Wag’s has extra weekly q’s available online), but done on copy paper. Of course, like any of their books, some stores may not have them programmed into their registers. You can get a mgr. to enter them or do a price adjustment.

    • My Walgreens won’t let me use the Manufacturer coupon labeled for use at Publix only. The register beeps. I couldn’t do the scotch tape deals.

      • Dianne

My store wouldn’t take them either. Said they weren’t for that item since the WAG tape was three rolls instead of one. I didn’t need the tape but it was going to be too much thinking involved to grab something else to get to $25, so I bought it. Still not a bad deal for .50 a roll.

    • JEB

Ok–I think if I return an item purchased with RR, then I will only get back what I paid, minus the RR–thus losing the RR…correct?

Now if I buy something that generates a RR, but was not purchased with a RR, if I return it, will I get back the full value that I paid or will they subtract the RR amount generated? Say I bought something for $40 and got $5 RR…if I return the $40 item, will I get back my $40 or just $35?

      • Mina

You would get back the $40 as shown on the receipt; however, you are obligated to return the RR that the original purchase generated. That’s what you agree to do when you accept them. The terms of agreement are written on every RR.

    • Heather

SO, to clarify, the $5 for buying $25 RR (which is actually a store Q) can be used on things that will generate manufaturer RRs?

      • Mina

    • Diane

Thanks for such a great Web site. I was a mediocre couponer until I discovered this site and now I’m a mega couponer — or so I say! :-)

    • Tarrah R.

I read a lot of you having trouble on your 3rd and 4th trips this past week for the 4 day sale, and most of you were really irritated about it. I had the SAME thing happen to me at one of that WAGS I went to on my 3rd or 4th trips. I got jipped $17 RR’s and seriously thought they ‘owed’ me. Then I put things into perspective… Here I am with like 10 bags of things that I ultimately got free and made money on (with using Coupons, and the extra $5 as well), with tons of RR’s already stockpiled, and I have the nerve to get angry!??! I feel I hit a greedy point this week with the WAGS sale and I went WAY Overboard, and I definately got what I deserved for it! I didn’t learn my lesson, though on the lost $17 RR’s- at that point I thought, “Well, I’ll just earn it back by doing MORE transactions!”- that’s when I got SERIOUSLY Lost trying to find a Walgreens I hadn’t been to yet. I mean… 45 MINUTES lost! I bet I spent another $10 in gas trying to get that money back. I finally realized that perhaps I was being taught a lesson for my being so greedy and hoardful. I feel ashamed of myself for thinking I am owed anything; We are like spoiled brats that when we spend $2.00 on an $80.00 order and only get back $25 RR’s, when we were expecting $30, we feel JIPPED and CHEATED. Lets put things into perspective, take the blessings, and when the 3rd or 4th time doesn’t work out….LET IT GO, You’ve already got some great deals, it really won’t hurt us to lose a little here and there…would it?!? That’s just how I feel. Hope I can help a few others to find a new perspective, too. God Bless and Merry CHRISTmas!
Oh…and I’m freaking out about NOW not having any freebies to roll all those RR’s over on. LOL!!!

      • Angel in Charleston

        Well said!

        • Nette

Agreed. Some of us can’t get any of the RR items because of other people making 3, 4, 5, 6 + trips and clearing the shelves. I saw a girl on a board talking about how she didn’t get her RR on her 10th trip…. I work all day and by the time I get to Wags, all the RR items are cleaned out.

          • Michelle in Martinez

amen! i pretty much stopped shopping the wags sales becuase the items are never in stock.

            • Lynn

Well said. LOL! We do get spoiled.

      • Rebekah

i love how you put it. I was trying to get into CVSing/SCR/RR’s it is hard to grasp the concepts. I am blessed to get Qs through the newspaper my ma has a subscription for. Sometimes we do need to stop and think “while this could get me Free $ back…their might be someone else out there the actually needs a product for a certain condition they have or something like that”. (ie the tester Q for $30)
        happy holidays.:)

    • how do you get the $5 off of $25.00? Is this a cpn if so where do I get it?

    • printablecouponsanddeals.com has a coupon for progresso soups $1.10 off of one can.

    • D

My opinion and I’m not judging or here to start anything (because I’ve noticed everyone jumps down your throat if you say the wrong thing) but for those that do 3 or 4 transactions and buy the same items just to receive more RRs for their next shopping trip, do not really think of those that haven’t even had the chance to do 1 transaction. Take into consideration of others. Granted Jenny put this site out to help those of us save but when you’re at the point of 3 or 4 transactions, I just think that’s greed. I would think when you are at the point of complaining about not getting RRs back and paid only a couple dollars, that might be the time to stop and really think. Again…just my opinion.

      • AC

I agree that people shouldn’t have 3 or more transactions with the same items, but I don’t see anything wrong with breaking the transactions up and getting more than one of the $5 RR for $25. I did purchase 2 different items on my first trip on Wed. night, but if they didn’t have a lot of them I wouldn’t have. I don’t like it when the items are all gone before lunch the first day. I don’t think my area is that bad about it but I went to another city for a Dr. appt on Thurs. morning and went by 2 walgreens looking for the “butterfly” clips and noticed everything for all RR items were completely cleaned out, at both walgreens. I was pretty surprised because around my area they still had almost everything even on Saturday night, except Butterfly clips. I will say that I tend to shop at 2 walgreens but not for any hoarding, just each one carries different things, sometimes I have to go to a 3rd one just to find the items I need. If you really need to purchase the same RR item more than once and it is something you really need and use, just don’t do it all at once and give others a chance to be able to purchase it. Just go back at the end of the week and buy it again if it is available, because then others have had a chance. I saw a lady the first day of the sale running around Walgreens in a hurry, checking out, tieing her bag putting it in her cart and going back for more. By the end she had about 6 bags tied in her cart, if she didn’t look so “assertive” I might have said something.

        • D

That is pretty well put. If doing 3 transactions with different items is a whole different story. I know not everyone hoards the items but it is just frustrating when you can’t even work out 1 transaction with what you planned on getting. I have 4 Wags in my area and haven’t really had the chance to visit the other 2(did visit one, were super friendly until they messed up on my receipt and I had them fix it and then not so happy afterwards so not going to that one again). And I don’t intend to visit the other 2 really. The one I go to generally is friendly and they usually have most of the RR items (of course this last time I went and asked a couple questions about a few coupons if the accepted them *other store coupon but with 5 on bar code yada yada* and didn’t like how the store manager acted after) but for those that generally just go back for rewards and end up with a ton of items they don’t need or use…I mean granted if they are donated that is a very generous thing to do but for those that really needed those items are out of luck. Would just be nice if “we as a coupon community” came together to help each other opposed to getting free items for their pockets. Again, I’m not saying EVERYONE does this…

    • Vanessa

Does anyone know if you get a $5 store coupon for spending $25 this week can you use it next week and still get the coupon then…since it is technically a different sale?

    • Gnat

      !!!SHAME ON YOU!!!

I feel compelled to CALL OUT those of you that shop 2,3,4 stores just so you can get the RR’s or CVS bucks. I call it like I see it and if you take offense to it then YOU’RE GUILTY!!!!

Thank you Jenny for your website and encouragement for those of us that shop for general savings and not GREED.

      • Karoline

I agree! Everytime i go to walgreens to get the sales – they are all gone! I have to go to multiple stores just to FIND a couple items in stock It does irritate me when I see pictures up in the friday finals of piles of things I never got becuase they were gone – and I’m not talking about going the last hour of the sale – I go within the first day. Give other people a chance to get those deals! P.S. I love love love southernsavers! -even if I don’t get the deals at the drugstores I almost always get the deals at Publix -LOVE- I love saving money *Saving money to fix my husband’s motorcyle – he won’t stay off of mine ;)

    • Penny

Did anyone else notice that Walgreens now has “Walgreen Dollars” which is what printed for the $5 RR with $25 purchase 4 day sale last week? It also says Limit 1 Walgreen’s Dollars Coupon Redeemed per transaction! These are NOT manufacturer coupons, and they expire in 7 days! How are we going to know if we are getting Walgreen Dollars, or Manufacturer Coupons for the RRs now?

      • Carla

My $5 off $25 “Walgreen Dollars’ all expire on 12/19 and this date did not change no matter which day I earned them this week. I earned 3 but I did NOT repeat the 4 day sale items to earn them; I bought things I will actually use. I agree with the poster above that couponing is great and so is the money we save but it does tend to make some greedy. It is frustrating to plan your shopping trip and when you get there all the deals are gone. I work full-time to supppot my family of 6 on just my income and this site has helped stretch my budget further than I could have imagined. However, I find when I get to Wags after work everything has been cleaned out.

      • Mina

You can tell which one you have by reading it.

If you’re asking how you can tell which type will print out, think about it. Manufacturer q’s are issued by a manufacturer to encourage you to purchase their product. When you have to purchase a certain amount of products made by the same company in order to get an RR it will be a MQ.

If the requirement is only that you have a total purchase so many $ worth of your choice of items, it will be a store q (Wag’s Dollars) because the chain is sponsoring the offer instead of a specific manufacturer.

    • Vanessa

I do not believe all of the problem is just people hoarding stuff…I am a stay at home mom so I shop the sales early. On Saturday night when I shop at CVS or Walgreens Sunday morning before church often I take the last one and the sale just started, so I know no one was before me and got a ton of them. I think a lot of the problem is that the stores do not anticipate how well a sale will go over.

      • denielle

i agree!! i do shop two maybe three times. only to find the things that i need, not to hoard. i recently lost my job and i don’t think we could afford things like diapers, medicine and soap if i didn’t!!

i love this site and honestly dont know what i would do without it!!

        THANKS JENNY!!

      • Mina

Right, Vanessa. There are many reasons that products aren’t available during the sale. People who come in and hit early and hard are a part of it. (Those are hoarders, garage sellers, small store owners, “charity” buyers.) Store personnel who know a good deal buy SOME, but not usually a huge amount. Frequently, though, the store does not get a very large supply of the specific items, EVEN when they pre-order. I’ve found that to be one of the biggest problems in my area. They order when they get the advance ad, but get very little for the sale. They are reluctant to order too much more during the course of the week because then they wind up getting it all in a week or two AFTER the sale.

Also, most things wind up generating ECB’s & RR’s because the manufacturer wants to move them. Those items aren’t always because they are skirmishing over market share. Very often they are seasonal, introductory, having production discontinued, or having a packaging change. The warehouses only have a limited supply in stock, and the individual stores get limited amounts. Sometimes the stores receive no additional stock beyond what they already have on their shelves. Sometimes the store doesn’t realize how popular a specific item will be and doesn’t order nearly enough. Other times they get a boatload of a sale item, whether they order it, or not.

So, there is not just one factor involved. Each of these, and probably others, play into account in varying degrees in each store. I usually know what’s going to be on sale well in advance, and can see that some items are in very short supply before the sale starts.

    • JEB

Does Walgreens do price adjustments? I bought 2 humdifiers this weekend and now they are on sale…

      • Sloan

I doubt it. But can you return them and buy them back at the sale price?

      • Mina

No, they don’t. You can return and repurchase them, but give back any RR’s that were generated from your original purchase. It’s not a good idea to get in the habit of returning purchases.

There’s a point I’d like to make about this. There are people who DO buy things to return them and make a profit. Stores know this. What those people are doing is considered fraud. Outside of just being a PITA to the stores if you do frequent or large returns, you can come under suspicion and it can harm your relationship with your store. Don’t feel bad about returning items when necessary, but try to avoid it when you can. You’ll have a better relationship with the store if you keep returns to a minimum and do them honestly when you have to do them.

    • Just to let you know…the Dulcolax listed here as part of the buy $30 get $10 RR is the 8 oz….the one for the $4 RR is the 4 oz.

      • Tina

Is there somewhere that lists the month long deals?

    • Loving WAGS deals

Also wanted to mention that the sales associates do the RR deals too. Almost everytime I shop at WAGS if I have a nice cashier they will compliment me and tell me about the deals they got, or that another associate got. I thanked my cashier for allowing me to break up my transactions into two and use the first RRs on the next sale, and he said he was no problem, that I should see them when they go at it!

I think we see some couponers going overboard and think that the shelves are cleared because of greedy couponers. I know they are out there, but also consider all the employees that work there have already had a chance to go through and get things before it ever opens up for all of us. I frequently miss out of the freebies at CVS or WAGS and I do frustrated, but there are other times when I get lucky and everything is there. I just take it as it comes. Be thankful for what you get and try again next week.

      • denielle

i have had many cashiers give me better coupons than i have!!

    • Lisa

If I buy 2 of an item at the same time, will the RR print twice?

Note: I am not hoarding, just getting the photo finishing deal.

      • Mina

No, generally not. What you can do is purchase them in two transactions.

I giggled when you said you weren’t hoarding. Purchasing two of something is a long way from hoarding.

    • Sue

      Do drugstores double manufacturer coupons?

      • Mina

    • Jenny

Curious just like a prior poster as to whether the $5 earned last week when I spent $25 can be used this week on the “get $5 when spending $25” since it’s a new week? Will the new $5 still generate? When someone tests this out, please let us know. Thanks!

      • Tina

Just got back from Walgreens. My purchase total was $29 and some change. I used the $5 RR earned from last week’s $25 purchase and a new $5 RR did NOT print. Just a heads up for everyone out there.

      • Ginger

Me too. My purchase was 31 dollars before coupons/sales and RR, was $3.66 after using all coupons and 10$ RR, and I did NOT get back the 5$ Wags RR.

    • Mina

Tarrah R. – Good post. I laughed hard when I read it because I could identify with how easy it can be to get so high from deal chasing for something like that to happen to a person. I felt for ya, too. Most of all, I was happy that you came to the point where you recognized the ridiculousness of the situation and called yourself on it.

There are at least 9 Wag’s within 25 minutes of me. I saw the possibility of Wag (You can replace “Wag’s” w/CVS or any other store name.) deal addiction soon after I felt my first bargain purchase high. Because I know I’m susceptible, I put restrictions on myself right then.

I did a serious amount of WAGging last week and don’t feel guilty about it, mainly because I have a pile of self imposed restrictions on how I shop. I bought a lot, but did it in a way that was fair to my store and other shoppers. I did many transactions throughout the week because they had a LOT of good deals going, but I also usually had very few advertised FARR items in my basket before the final night.

A few times this year I’ve just stepped back and let my RR’s and ECB’s expire – on purpose. After all, shopping is just a necessary chore. It’s not a matter of how MUCH we can buy, but how we steward the resources we have at hand.

I’m happy you caught yourself and realized how easy it is for a normally sensible person to go to unreasonable extremes. Good for you!

    • Jacky

I was just in Walgreens and they had lots of cosmetics on clearance (especially Revlon) .. I was able to pick up conncealer for .23 after my $2.00 coupon..

They had lots of lipsticks, concealers ,lip glosses for around $2- $2.50 making each about $.50 or less after coupons. GREAT STOCKIGN STUFFERS !

    • Jacky

I would like to add.. in regard to some people complaining about people doing multiple transactions in 1 trip..

it is neccessary for me as my closet Walgreens is over 30 minutes away (then there is only 1) .. So if I do drive all that way, then I have to do all my tasks in 1 trip… I’m sure there are others like me who can’t stop by several times a week- and have like 9 available walgreens. The most I have evr done has been 3 short transactions.

I do not think the stores order enough stock in most cases, and like others said, the employess get first dibs(i used to work at CVS)

I understand there is a problem with overbuying, but who honestly sets a limit. If theres a good deal on a body wash I love I may buy 3, but to some then I’m going overboard, when I feel i’m not(thats a 3 month supply) and will likely get me until the next sale.

These are sales, just that! When things are cheap they are going to sell quicker. I try & go when the sale starts to up my odds. People that are complaining and waiting towrds the end of teh sale, aren’t going to have as good of odds locating their items, its just common sense.

    • Michelle

Do I understand correctly that when I buy my $25 worth of products this week (in order to get the $5 RR), I can use the RR’s I earned last week, but not the $5.00 one? That is, in order to get my next %5? Is this the basic idea of “rolling?”

      • Lori Davidson

Yes, don’t use your $5 one. That’s how mine did not print..

        They are sooo confusing!

    • Nancy

I just wanted to pass on a deal i just got at my walgreens. Kiss and Broadway nail stickers were on clearance for 1.09, and there’s a 1.00 coupon in the new photocopied walgreens coupons, last page. Real cute stocking stuffer for .09!

    • Lindsay

Hi everyone, I am new at this, and have a question. This past week at Walgreens, I bought all of the RR deals in one transaction and had 36 RR (total). When I went to check out the second time with a little over $40 worth of merchandise, the cashier said that she thought she could only use one of the RR coupons, so she scanned the highest one. Evidently, someone there earlier had tried to use several, and the register would only scan the first one, so I guess the cashier thought that you could only use one per transaction. Luckily for me, however, none of my RR’s would scan, so she had to manually enter them, and she entered all of them. I wanted to find out from you guys – can you only use one RR per transaction? My first trip was Thanksgiving week, and I am almost positive that I used more than one per transaction that time. Thanks!

      • Shay

You can only use 1 manufacturer’s coupon per item. A lot of the RR are actually manufacturer’s coupons. So if you have already used a manu on the items you are buying, the RR’s will not work.
The way to get around that is to buy some really cheap items that you don’t use coupons for. One item for each RR you are using.
For example: I bought three items, but I had manu coupons for each so I couldn’t use the RR’s to pay for the three items. I bought 4 $.33 candies and then the cash register would take the 4 RR’s that I had to pay for my 3 “real” items! Make sense?

    • lavanya

this is the first time i’m planning a deal myself. The pros please let me know if i got it right and if it would work..
      huggies diapers – $8.99 coupon- $2 rr-$2
      olay body wash – $5.99
olay quench body lotion – $9.99 coupon- free body lotion with body wash
      duracell batteries(i need them) – $2.99 coupon- 75 cents

total before coupons excluding sales tax = 27.96

      out of pocket = $15.22
get back = $2 rr huggies and $5 rr for $25 before coupons.
for $8.22 i get huggies diapers, body wash , body lotion and batteries..
how is it for a start?
      let me know
      thank you

      • Annamarie

I know I never work these deals to the highest savings, but I know that if I saved $ its a very very good thing! :) And yes, when you are getting all of that for the price of the diapers, you’ve done a good job! :)

    • Anyone know where I can get a gift card coupon for a new prescription. I am not sure when they had them in the Ad last. Thanks!!

Or even where I can print one. Also, does anyone know if Target accepts competitors prescription gift card coupons? Thanks again !!

    • Angel Soft Bath tissue 9 big rolls 2/$7.00 (use Walgreens in-ad coupon on 4 day sale ad)

-$0.50/1 from http://www.angelsoft.com (must register to print) use two

      makes it $3.00 each

      • Ginger

There’s a mfr coupon from one of the Sundays that’s 1.00 off a 6-pack or larger. You can just get 1 9-pk, use the Wags Q and the $1.00 mfr Q, makes it $2.50. Sorry I don’t kow what date the mfr Q is from, but it expires 12/31. Maybe someone else out there knows when it came out…

    • Susan

Good day at Wags, started with the 5 Wags dollars from last week.

1st I bought the Complete for 7.99 (less $1 peelie), and filler item (17 cents) used 5 wags dollars, paid $2.16, plus tax, got back 8RR

2nd, 2) Nivea for men, 6) Scotch Mailers, 1) Box of Puffs, 2) Cans of Olives, 2)filler items, used 8RR and coupons, paid 64 cents plus tax, got back 4RR and 5 Wags dollars.

Total oop with tax $3.97. Jenny thanks again for teaching me how to shop :)

    • Kimberly

I like the tomato sauce this week as filler — granted, I try to stock up on grocery deals closer to $.25 but at least the sauce is useful!

      • Natalie

The recession payback game is still going on. You have to play the game and then at the end you can print a coupon. Choose hunts and a $1 off 3 will print making the sauces FREE!! My ? for walgreens is that the store coupon says limit 3. Does that mean 3 cans or 3 deals/9 cans?

    • Natalie

Also in the 4 day sale is kashi cereal 2/$5. I have some coupons $1off that I have been waiting to use from the mailer that I will use this week.

And don’t forget that there is the free olay quench lotion rebates, I was planning on buying these to up my total to over $25 to get the $5 coupon

    • Tracy T

Is anyone still have a deal, Extra care bucks, RR, or Single check rebate on itunes cards?

    • Joanne Thornton

Tonight i went in with 2 transactions in mind. Using 15% off for each.

      Huggies 8.99-1.50 mc
      2 colgate @ 2/$5.00 2- .75mc (wg had a 1.50 off one cpn taped to box. I used those instead}
      2 Vaseline 5.99ea. 2-$1.00 mc
      3 andies for filler items
getting back rr for $2, $2, and $1
Using $5.00 WG dollars and $7.00 RR
      OOp 5.73

      2nd transaction

      scunci hair ties 1.99
      campbells soup .59
      2 gen mills cereal@1.99ea $1.00/2mc
      3can dog food 3/$3.00
      Used $2.RR $2.RR $1.RR
      OOP 2.49

when totalling my first transaction my cashier (who i know) told me the RR would not print because i used my $5.00 wgr dollars and 7.00RR.
I told her go ahead and take my money and we will see. She was shocked that they printed. I used them on transaction 2. I told her to go to Southern savers and she would learn alot.
I love it when we teach them something.

    • Ashley

Important Note: The $2 off Philips coupon in Walgreens December Booklet does not work for the Philips products that give you the $5 or $10 RR. It’s for an entirely different product and does state so, and the register unfortunately recognizes this.

Also, the $4 RR for Dulcolax is not for any size but only the smallest size. You can still get a good deal on it (I think free) but don’t get excited and think you can purchase the medium size that qualifies for the $5 or $10 RR and think it will also give you the $4 RR because it won’t.

I went in planning to do this deal:

      2 Dulcolax $10
      -Use $3/1 printable coupons
      -Use $2/1 store coupons
(hoping to also get $4 RR for each)

      3 Philips products $4
      -Use $1/1 man. coupons
      -Use $2/1 store coupons

I would have spent $30 (before coupons) so should have received $10 in RR. NOT!! The Philips store coupons don’t work and this size Dulcolax doesn’t give you the extra $4 RR. PLUS for me, I used the 15% discount so I didn’t even get the $5 RR for purchasing $20 worth because it made the Dulcolax $8.50 each. GRRRR! I really lost out on Walgreens today. I returned this entire deal but lost all my coupons (even though I returned them right then and there, they can’t give them back) plus somehow lost $4 RR I had in the mix.

I’ve yet to walk out from Walgreens successfully. My rolling RR plans always get messed up by them not having an item or something like this, not being the right coupon.

Not to sound negative, it was just a disappointing trip!

      • Karen

I know how you feel, Ashley. I have yet to walk out of WG with a warm, fuzzy feeling. I do okay, but still get confused on my running totals and am sure I gypped myself out of some savings the other day by having the checker subtotal. :P I feel like I wear the checkers out, too. I hate to make a nuisance of myself that way.

Can’t believe you lost your coupons, tho. Is that right?! Do you think they are going to submit them for products they didn’t even sell. Hmmmm.
