It’s another strange week at Walgreens. Lots of really low price deals, but very few Register Reward deals. There isn’t anything to really make you a scenario with either. Don’t pass over the list though, there are some deals worth grabbing if you are out.

To see the full weekly ad, go here.

If you are new to Walgreens read the getting started guide.

I know you can't use a RR for the same item, but can I alternate. Use RR from a Toothpaste purchase for the Razor, then use the RR from the razor to buy the the Toothpaste?

      • Kim

    • Kathryn

I was told by the cashier at Walgreens that they are doing away with register rewards soon. The will be moving to a card/points system. This may be the reason for fewer RRs as they are phasing them out.

      • Honeysmith

First the rebate system, now register rewards? Bummer. I think they should have a system more like cvs where it is linked to your card. That way some are not abusing the system by buying too many and making lots of returns etc. According to the cashiers at my wags, some ladies really do things that are not ethical which ruins it for the rest of us. But if they don't at least offer something each week that is free I probably won't keep shopping there. There are too many others that offer loss leaders and good deals and my time is limited.

      • I've heard about the card/points system and I don't think I'd like it! I really want the Register Rewards program to stay. It definitely keeps me shopping at Walgreens. If it is discontinued, I probably won't be shopping there a whole lot anymore. Our town is going to get a CVS in the next few years though! I'll probably shop there!

      • Kristy

WOW! No wonder the RR have been so “crappy” lately. I have found myself heading to CVS much more lately because of this. I also like the fact that I can just scan my card at CVS and get even more coupons. Oh well, we shall see!!!!

      • Kristinmoreno88

I have been told by customers at my store that they can use our RR at stores like publix and walmart….i dont know if that is true but i can see why walgreens would do away with it if it is…because were not making any money.

    • New2Qs

Anyone know how much Purex costs?

      • kara taylor

I'm not sure at walgreens, but this week in our paper Dollar General had 2 of the regular Purex 72oz, 2/$5! So I got them at Target & had them price match it:) Don't know if you can find that ad, it expires tomorrow- but at Target they are regulary $4.99 a piece I believe.

    • big deal

Tonight when I was at Walgreens, I said something about them not having as many RR here lately. The lady, whom I deal with often told me that Walgreens is going to start “shying” away from doing so many of them. My store is really good, they even keep coupons cut out for customers and keep them beside the register. She told me she just wanted to give me the heads up. They are not totally going to do away with it, just “shying” away. I feel this would be a mistake. They must be coming up with a new system, since so many are cracking it. Don't know ,just thinking.

Penny Pinchin Mom is in the test market for the new Walgreen’s card & the point system. She describes it here: http://www.pennypinchinmom.com/2010/05/walgreens-new-rewards-card-more-information/

      • If this is where Wags is headed, I am for sure done with them! Don't care too much for them as it is.

      • WynetteC

Thanks for sharing that. It looks like a whole new system and nothing similar to the CVS system other than a card storing your information on it. Accruing points until payout makes me raise my eyebrows but I will wait to hear how it bowls over with the test cities. Apparently Walgreens has been listening to complaints about their current system's hiccups and they are trying to improve it. Only time will tell.

    • Lori B.

I had a very frustrating week at Walgreen's. The only school supplies I was able to get was the Bic highlighters .49, sheet protectors .29 & I found some 260 sheet college ruled paper on clearance .95. I went 4 different days & no Pilot pens, dividers, Dr Scholl's rough skin eraser or the 1.99 packs of paper. Then, they wouldn't let me use my $1/2 Bic coupon for the highlighters. Ugh! That's why I usually just do CVS.

      • aczek16

I have found that the way you shop for school supplies IS by getting a little bit each week at multiple places; shop the best deals that week. the fastest way to accomplish that is have a list of all the places and items at each place and make “in-and-out” purchases. its fast, easy and you end up getting great deals! :))

        • Ebunnie63

i've been useing the school supplies, that i can use, as filters, so i'm basically getting pens, pencils, and notebooks for free with each purchase…

      • Brady's Mom

        I completely agree !

    • Jessdare101

I'm not a big Walgreen's fan. I'm thinking about going this week and trying them again. I had no luck last week with Dr. Scholl's.

I was wondering if this scenario would work.

If I use 1 manuf. coupon on tums and also use the coupon from the july booklet, then also use 1 printable dr. scholl's coupon with the coupon from the booklet. Can I use 4 total coupons and buy 2 items total or is this when the filler's come in and I have 2 have 2 fillers? Hope this makes sense. I would appreciate the tips from you walgreen pros!

      • Kc131391

the only time you need filler items is when you us a RR with the stacked coupons.

        • angie

Why would you need a filler for a RR?

          • Mom_4_Him

Walgreens considers RR's like coupons, so the number of items has to be equal or greater than store coupons + Manufacturer's coupons+ RR. If you have a store coupon and a manf. coupon and a RR, you must have 3 items to purchase, so you'd need 2 filler items. At least that is how it works at our store. YMMV. HTH

            • Earnjr8fan

The store coupons don't count in your totals though. You just need to make sure that you have extra items without manufacturer coupons for each RR that you expect to print out. When using the RR they also count as a manufacturer coupon.

        • Ebunnie63

please refer to my statement above, do u think it would work??

      • Ebunnie63

i would throw in 3 total filles, just to cover the tax if coupon value is more than items cost.

    • Andrea Miller

The Dole Q in All You Aug is $1/3, not a very good deal…just a heads up.

    • Angie

what are the fillers for again? How are they used?

      • At Walgreens you have to have the same # of items as you have Manuf. coupons and RR. So, often you need a cheap “filler” to balance your ration when using RR to pay.

        • Ebunnie63

i've used a filter to even out the # of items vs. # of coupons/ rewards.
          easy example:

sale in weekly flyer reads: (this is an example, not a real deal going this week. lol)

          1- oral-b toothbrush for $3.49 each

you have some b1bg free and a few $1.00 off coupons, plus you have a $3.00 worth of rewards, (1.00 and 2.00) from last week to pay for the difference..

          you buy:
          (4) toothbrushes
          (4) NOTEBOOK, .29 EACH, YOUR FILLER
          8 items total

          you use:

          (2) B1G1 free coupons
          (4) 1.00 off coupons
          (2) 2 rewards, the 1.00 and 2.00 from last week.
          8 total coupons

the math goes something like this:

          4 tooth brushes, 3.49x 4= 13.96
          4 notebooks, .29x 4= 1.16
          total= 13.96
          minus b1g1 3.49 ech x 2=6.98
          bal. 6.98 due
          minus 1.00 off x4= 4.00
          bal. 2.98 due
          minus 1.00 reward= 1.00

My issue of All You magazine has coupons for $1 off Dole fruit….but you have to buy 3 to get that dollar off. $1 off 3 isn't nearly as good as what I thought…$1 off one. :-(

My walgreens does not print RR if we use coupons for the item announced with RR.Is that the case with every walgreens?I am a cvs shopper,I never had such problem with them.Everytime I go to walgreens,it would result in some mess,I hate shopping at walgreens

      • Jen

This is only the case at some Walgreens, I would find a new one if I were you. I've been to more than 10 walgreens (moving around the country) and only 2 have not printed RR when you use coupons. Hope that helps!

New to shopping at Walgreens. Can I use 2 Qs on a BOGO deal???

      • Andrea

Yup! The B1G1 deal is like a store coupon so since you are buying 2 items that means you can use to manufacturer Q's

It is Sunday 12:55. My WAGS is already almost out of the folders. I bought 5 (the limit). There is about 10 folders left. The store opened at 8 AM. If I had waited until tomorrow there would have been 0 folders. Why doesn't the store get a reasonable amount of inventory for the sales? There is already a sign up -no rainchecks on school supplies. Just venting!!

My Walgreens puts the weekly ad items on sale the saturday before the ad starts. I just recently noticed this. You can't use the in ad coupon sales on the saturday before the ad starts but any of the other sale items you can purchase. My walgreens even places the sales tag up and the dates are from one saturday to the next. Basically, you can get both weeks sale items on saturday:)

      • Mary

My Walgreens is one of the worst when it comes to having sale inventory in stock. They are constantly out of things!

      • Dianne

If it's like my CVS, the manager there told me they have to put in their order 10 weeks in advance. Unless the manager is really keeping up with the sales that are way down the road, there will be shortages. My CVS manager has in the last two months gotten “my” store up to speed enough that I can still shop on Saturday and not have to get rain checks! I think I have had to get two in six weeks!

      • Kristinmoreno88

I work for walgreens and most of the time we have NO say in ordering the seasonal stuff like back to school if it is a non basic item. So rain checks are pointless because most of the time we wont get the item back in until the following year when it is in “season”. I understand how people can get annoyed by our shelves being empty but also think about the people who come in and buy more than what they need most of the time it is not OUR fault for being out of merch its when people come in and make 5 different transactions. We can only order what they will let us. Sometimes we oreder and it dosent come in on the truck for weeks. So please dont get upset with the people who work there try to get ahold of home office or something….its not the cashiers fault or the managers….

I'm new to Walgreens shopping. Do you have to buy 2 when they have a bogo sale? Thanks

I did not have to the other day when I bought Command hooks…but on certain items before I've had to…not sure the difference.

I found a .35 coupon for the soft soap in the 7/25 SS. I wonder why it missed being in the computer.

      • regina

figured out my own dilemma. the 8.5 oz for the soft soap is ggod but walgreens only carries the 7.5oz. my bad

I don't typically shop at Walgreens b/c of location, but when I saw the 9 cent folders in the ad I decided to make a stop (b/c these are on the supply list for her grade).
Very pleased with my transaction. Bought 5 of the folders (the limit), 2 of the High Trail
      5 folders at 9cent/ea
2 High trails backpacks for $9.99
1 pack of 12 colored pencils for $0.99 using the sale and the $1 off coupon
      1 pack of 10 for $0.59
      Spent only $13.13!!!!! Saved $15.39

Sorry, had computer issues when I wrote the above. 1 pack of 10 was pencial top erasers. Not sure why one of my sentences was cut off! :-)

Went to Wags today and was told I couldn't use 2 ($1) off coupons on the B1G1F Oxy pads because one was free. She said it was like paying me to buy the product. This is a cashier that has been their a long time and works at the cosmetic counter. I told her do you realize that the coupon is like cash and that the company puts out the coupon not Walgreens. She still wouldn't have it. I could have argued and called the manager, but I am exhausted from little sleep. I smiled and thought to myself I will just come back later and buy it. I have to go back anyway for something else. I guess my satisfaction will come when I buy it and use both coupons with a cashier that knows what she is doing. I have been couponing for a long time, and have done this numerous times at the same Wags. What aggavation!!

Another deal for this week…This weeks Sunday Coupons included a $3 Thermacare manufacturers coupon. Plus Walgreens has store coupon in their ad for $2 off. That's a total of $5 off. Their neck and backwraps cost $6.99, so with the two coupons – its $1.99 for either 3 neckwraps or 2 backwraps. Anyone who uses them knows that's an incredible deal – they are so expensive!

There was an advertisement at my store for $5RR wyb $3.99 Men's bar soap (I think it was Dove)…at the register I was told you had to spend $15 to get the $5RR…

I want to know why they don't allow printed coupons – does this happen W/anyone else?

    • MSaver

they went up on their price for Purex 3-1 because of the B1G1 this week…$8.99 apiece! I walked out with my coupons and my money!

      • Amy

Go to Riteaid. They have the same thing for 2/$6 and you get a $1 Up reward wyb 2. If you use the coupons, you have a terrific deal.
