I don't have Bi-Lo, Kroger, or Harris Teeter. So option #1 it is! My Publix bakery also had some fantastic looking hamburger buns on sale. Quick tip…check the front of your store for a bread cart or shelves for marked down bread. I got a huge loaf of rye for $0.99!

My Publix has Louis Rich Frozen Ground Turkey in the frozen breakfast foods section for $1.50/pound. (They also have Turkey Sausage in that same area for $2.89, marked down right now to $2.) That's the regular price and that's what I consistently buy for any recipe that calls for ground beef.

Also, my Target (regular, not Super Target) also has a different brand (can't remember what it is) of frozen ground turkey for $1.49.

Thanks for some meat free recipes in the list. I'd be glad to help you make some SoutherSavers vegetarian meal ideas for this site. I do it every day for myself!

      • Natbham

I'd love for your to share your list. Our family is vegetarian and I'm always trying to figure out how to turn some of the suggestions into veggie options! Thanks!

    • Kimberly

Thank you so much for posting these!! :) Keep them coming!!!!!!

    • Dewywisteria

Thanks for the recipes. Please keep them coming. Food Lion has tilapia fillets in a bulk frozen pack for 2.99 lb.

    • Jvorburger

I also just discoverd that the Lloyds Pulled Pork on sale BOGO (plus $1/1 coupons) is only 2pts for 1/4 cup of meat…and it's yummy. Pair it with a 1pt bun, pita, or wrap and you got yourself a low point sandwich for pretty cheap!

    • Kb

these look soooo yummy! even if the dips arnt healthy…you always need a yumy dip! here's one……package of cream cheese, sauce and chopped chipoltle canned peppers to taste, and a pack of ranch seasoning…..sooooo addicting!!!!!

I want to thank you so much for doing this.

I want to agree with everyone in thanking you for doing this. I'm just starting out and I was telling my sister if someone could just tell me the menu that was cheap and not exotic but simple – I could do this. Time and money keep us from many of the recipes I read (and picky eaters for the rest of the family). Thank you!!!!
