    Beginner CVS question...

On B1G1 items, if I have to buy 2 to get the savings, can I use 2 coupons?

For example, the Ponds face wipes are B1G1. Can I use 2/$1.50 coupons? Therefore, $15.00 (7.49 each) in Ponds products would cost me $4.50.

Thanks for your help. Love the site!
  • kelli
You should be able to use 2 coupons. I've done it many times.
  • I was so aggravated at CVS this week. I had a rain check for the Scope Outlast toothpaste from last week. The raincheck said quantity two, but I only wanted to buy one because I had one coupon. The manager said that I MUST buy two. I thought that was so ridiculous that I called corporate and they said that is NOT true. Now I wasted my coupon which expired yesterday. Oh well.

This same CVS gave me hassle a month ago when I tried to use $10 ECB to pay for a $9.98 purchase. They refused to ring it up as the $9.98.

The same mangager who wouldn't take my ECBs also wrote a raincheck with a limit of 2 for something that the ad said was limit of 4. She refused to change it, saying that rainchecks are always a limit of 2. Corporate said that she was wrong on both those counts. Next time I should call corporate right there from the cash register and they will correct them for me.
  • kelli
I forgot to mention, next time you have a problem where you know you're right, I do think that you should call corporate in front of them. Or suggest that they call and confirm.
  • That is what the lady at the corporate office said I should do next time. She was very helpful and apologized, and said she'll be speaking to the district manager.
  • libby
anyone have their so I can have it if I ever have a lot of problems at my CVS
  • libby
sorry I meant to say their #
  • kelli
wow, that's really lame. do you have another store in your city/town? I used to shop at the store that's closer to my house all of the time. There was one cashier that was there all of the time that was great. He was always amazed when I saved so much money and he loved it when I got back more ECBs then I spent.... he hasn't been there in probably 2 months though. I don't know if he got fired or quit but I miss him. Most of the other people who work there are rude and unhelpful.

Now I shop at the other store in my town. It's a little farther away but it's so much more pleasant. The people are helpful and friendly and are always so happy to take my coupons. The one cashier is always joking about the difference in savings/oop between me and my fiance.

I can't believe that they said you had to get 2 if it says limit 2. That's like saying that if the ad says "limit 2" you HAVE to buy 2, which is obviously not true. It's also insane that they wouldn't adjust your ECB down or give you a rain check for more than 2. I've gotten rain checks that say 5 before. There are lots of things in the ad that are on sale that don't even have a limit, so why would it be limited for a rain check. I really hate it that their "rules" are so different from one store to another.

I think that the main problem with the store closer to my home is that most of the people who shop there are college students and I would assume that most of them do not coupon. I hope that your situation gets better!

    I was so happy
I went to CVS on Monday and bought 16 powerades and 6 hersey bars.
I used a $5 off $25 coupon, B10G5 coupon on the powerade and 5 $1 off the combination of a hersey bar and a coke product. I spent approx. $2 (had to use $5 in rewards) and got the $15 off of the DVD coupon back.
  • This is what I bought;
    3 Tides (different scents) $6 each = $18
1 Bounty 6 big rolls (however this didn't say Basic) but it was $6 on sale so I thought it was part of the deal. = $6
    2 Hand Renewal $1.00 each = $2
    Total $26 before coupons

It said at the bottom of my receipt:
    Earned 20
    Need to earn 5

I called CVS but I won't be able to do anything until Friday.

    One thought is this:
    1. Wait until Friday and call CVS.
    2. Go to CVS buy another Tide and then return it?
    3. Return the papertowels and buy a Tide?
  • libby
Just return the papertowels for the right ones and your rewards sould print.
  • libby
I got my first $2 off of $10 coupon today!
I have never gotten anything like it before.
  • Is it for CVS product purchase. I got one of those today.
  • libby
    ya
  • kelli
I was just wondering how much money other people have saved over the year? I only started CVSing on Memorial Day when they had a bunch of freebies. I wasn't good at it at first but I'm pretty great at it now.

My year to date savings are $908.63
My fiance's year to date savings are $939.54

I can't quite believe how much we've saved over just 4 months.
  • kelli
this might be a silly question but do prescriptions count in the OOP on the receipt?
  • If you are looking at your receipt, remember that is based on regular prices at CVS. How much are you spending out of pocket? :) That will help to calculate how much you have saved. Good job at your savings! I've saved about the same amount $800+ this year on each of my cards.
  • libby
How mayny cards do you have?
Do you ever have problems with mixing ECB's on the cards?
  • kelli
yes, I'm taking about the savings on the bottom of the receipt. I know that they're based on regular CVS prices, so the savings is a bit inflated, but I'm still surprised. Even if stuff it half the price somewhere else, it's still over $900 in savings. I think that our out of pocket for the year is about $75... it took me a little while to get the hang of things. And sometimes, when I'm saving a bunch of money, I just buy everything at once and pay a little bit OOP so that I don't have to deal with the grumpy cashiers not wanting to let me do more than one transaction.
  • kelli
    another great trip today! :)

    1 Gillette Fusion = $9.99
    1 Accu-Chek Diabetes Monitoring Kit = $14.99
    1 permanent marker = $.05

    - $4 off Gillette Fusion
    - $10 off Accu-Chek
    - $6 ECBs

Total OOP this week: $6.99 ($4.60 of that was tax)
    Total saved this week: $217.85
  • Shannon
I have a question....can you use the cvs 5/25 and the walgreens(as a competitor) 5/25 at the same time?
  • libby
you would have to ask your CVS but the walgreens coupon is for $5 off after all coupons
  • Catherine
I didn't think I had anything to get from CVS this week until I looked at their flyer and this entry. I did the $25 of P&G products (2 Tide, 1 dryer bar, 2 stain release, 1 Dawn) which gave me a total of about $26. I used the $5 of $25, the $1.50 off the dryer bar and stain releases, the $1.00 of Dawn and the $1.00 off Tides. I was down to about $16 and getting 10 ECBs back. I had a raincheck from ages ago on the $7.99 Blink Tears, getting back $8ECB on that! PLUS, I had two ECB coupons for $1 and for $2.

I got back up to $25 with the Blink tears, but got $18 in ECBs!! I turned my cart around and loaded it up with $.88 8 packs of candy for my Halloween stash, plus some gummy worms for my son to have now. I ended up paying only $1 over and we're set for Halloween! From both receipts, I saved over $70 off retail prices!

THANKS JENNY and all your helpers!
  • Catherine
Forgot to add that I also got some button batteries for my son's toys that were B1G1 and I had coupons off for them. Super good trip!
  • Damien
I had a quick question concerning an extra care COUPON. Do these get treated as regular store coupons or more like Extra Care Bucks? What I mean is this: I have an EC Q for B1G1 Viologie Shampoo. Can I use two of the $2 store Qs and then use the B1G1 ECQ or is the ECQ no different than a regular store Q and cannot be used in addition to the CVS Q listed above? This would become a little moneymaker if it can be used that way.
  • libby
save that bogo coupon it will make both free next week
  • Sandra
    Damien,
When I use the coupons like from the coupon machine or on the receipt, they ring up as CVS coupons, so it is a store q. You can use a mfg q with them...and of course the $4/20 or $5/25..etc.
    hope that helps!
  • Damien
I do not really like any of the deals at CVS week except for the Reeses/ Butterfinger (and the free shampoo if I can find it and the coupon that goes with it), but I definitely must go to use my $1 CVS that I probably should have used weeks ago when I had a total of .96 and decided to pay cash (lol). Oh well I will go buy a couple of 8 packs of candy and that will do the trick... too bad we never get those Reeses Coupons in our Smartsource.
  • kelli
    Great trip today!

  • GG
I didn't see the Dawn Hands Renewal in the sale's paper, all I saw advertised was the regular Dawn. Is the Hands Renewal on sale for .99 or are you buying the regular Dawn using the Hands Renewal coupon?
  • kelli
the hands renewal wasn't in my sale paper either but it was marked on the shelf at $1, just like the other small bottles of dawn, and all 4 that I've bought this week rang up $1.
  • libby
Anyone know how much the ponds is?
  • Lindsay
has anyone gotten the bliss candy deal? the candies are b2g1 and there was a b1g1 q in the paper. How does that deal look?

    HELP!!!
Can't print Vaseline coupon, it keeps saying that I've printed it a number of times allowed, but I have not! ARGGG! I even tried to print it from a different computer, has anyone had the same problem, how do I get the coupon??? Thanks!
  • kelli
this usually means that print limit has been reached
  • Stacy
Didn't see this listed, but sorry in advance if it copies anyone.

From the Home Made Simple coupon booklet - $1/1 Dawn Hand Renewal (any size). Some expire 9/30, but new books came out not long ago with the same coupon expiring next March. Even if you don't work it into one of the scenarios it's free soap. :)
  • GG
Someone please read this over and let me know if this works the way I think.........I am buying (9) of the 2 liter coke products and (2) bags of candy which equals $22.00 then I want the Monsters and Aliens dvd which is $19.99. Total is now $41.99, I then apply a $4 off $20.00 coupon and it should deduct $15 for the movie automatically, now the total should be $22.99. I have another $4 off $20, can I or should I apply it or just be happy getting 9 drinks, 2 bags of candy and the movie for $22.99 and tax?
  • kelli
if you're "spending" $40, technically you should be able to use 2 $4/$20 coupons, but really you aren't paying $20 for the DVD, you're only paying $5. I guess that it doesn't hurt to try, but it I think it's really supposed to be $40 after sales for you to use both.

I did the CVS dvd deal. I bought (12) 2 liter cokes @ 3/$4.00= $16.00, (1)$5.00 bag of candy, (2) NYC eyeshadows, (1)Reinventing Beauty Mag and the Monsters and Aliens dvd, I used a $1 off the NYC eyeshadows and a $4 off $20 purchase(tried to use 2 but the register wouldn't let me use 2 of the $4 off $20)after tax I paid $24.95 for everything...unbelievable, I would have paid $20.00 for the dvd alone...wow.....great deal
  • libby
It doesn't hurt to try I made sure to get to CVS get the dvd deal before the move came out so I would get a coupon and be able to break it into two transactions.
  • Candice
There is also a $1 off Q coupon for Nature Made vitamins in the new All You magazine too!
  • Angela
Can someone tell me if there is a deal if you transfer your prescription to CVS? I thought I seen one time that there was some type of incentive for transferring your prescription? Thanks for your help!!
  • Allison
If your CVS takes competitor Rx coupons, Rite Aid has some on their website and also in the circular this week where you get a $25 gift card for transferring a Rx.
  • Angela
    Thanks yall!!
  • Abigail
Lots of time you can find coupons for giftcards if you transfer a prescription to them. I got 2 in the mail for a $25 giftcard so we transferred two of my husbands prescriptions and got 2 $25 giftcards! You can probably check online or call the store to see if they have any.
  • I got 2 end tables and a portable workstation for $12.29 saving $34.48!
  • Sandra E
I saw that stuff too... guess they are making room for more Halloween candy!!! Are you in VA?
  • No, I'm in GA
  • Sandra E
I had a great trip to CVS in Midlothian VA today! Bought the Sheer lotion, scope outlast & Almay mascara with $3.50 in coupons and got $11.50 ECB. In addition, I found a bin of Sally Hansen/LaCrosse/NYC makeup, nail polish & beauty tools all marked down to $1.00. I had $1.00 coupons off each, so I got like 6 or 7 items for FREE. (Great stocking stuffers!!) It helped pump up my total to $25 so I could also use my $5 off coupon. PLUS...there were still a few school items left for 90% off (got gel pens & markers for .05 each). I also bought a set of glassware marked down to half price $5. Total saved= $61.17. OOP was $11.27 which I paid with gift card, so I made $11.50!
Would have only been $6.27 if I hadn't bought the glassware, but it was a good gift item and I figured it was free since I had the $5/25 anyway.
    not too shabby...
  • Cindy
I bought $20 worth of Hershey's candy to get the DVD Monsters vs Aliens for 4.99. It worked great & also printed off another coupon where I could buy another Monsters vs Aliens DVD for 4.99 so I bought another one too. Great deal!!
  • libby
Thank you so much for all you do I just had another great trip to the CVS's in town.
  • Kat
Question--can you only use the $5 off $25 coupon from the flu quiz once? I used it a few weeks ago but would love to print another and use it again.
  • Lisa
Has anyone managed to get a "$100 worth of coupons" booklet for getting a flu shot at CVS? In the weekly ad, it says "no purchase necessary" in small letters below the banner, so I asked for one today and they would NOT give it to me. I called corporate to clarify and was told that "no purchase necessary" was there because some flu shots are covered by insurance and in that case you would not have to pay but would get the coupon booklet anyway. I'm okay with that, but I did wonder what coupons were inside - which products, manu or store coupons, expiration, etc. I haven't had a flu shot yet - just curious to know if this is a good booklet to have.
  • lynn
look under the CVS archives and jenny has all of the coupons posted about 5 or 6 posts back.
  • I'm still not as good at this as you are. But I'm getting there. I spent $30 at CVS and got all that is pictured on my blog. I'm trying to add up the total savings. Maybe I can figure it out before posting on my blog.
I loved your workshop at Fellowship Community Church.
    I'm learning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Has anyone bought the coca cola products and got the movie coupon, just wondering how it works...........
  • libby
I just got mine the details for the dvd process are in the desciption in the ad.
  • Wendy
I had the same experience with the "Reinventing Beauty" mag too! UGGGGH! I had all my coupons cut out and when I got there, the coupons were all expired. Do they keep the same covers from month to month?!!!
It looks exactly like the one Jenny posted and it doesn't give a date on the cover anywhere!!
  • I'm irritated. I went to my CVS on the way home from work today, and found the Reinventing Beauty mag, and bought one. After I got home, I discovered the coupons were all expired. That's lame that they still have it on the racks. Ugh.

I went on a shopping spree at CVS and spent a whopping $5. I got 4 bags of tide stain release tabs, 1 bounce dryer bar, 1 bottle of tide detergent, 2 Pantene Hair Sprays, body lotion, 1 gillette razor.

#1: $9.99 - Gillette Fusion Razor (yeah I'm hoping John will use it) ;)
    -$4.00 off coupon
    -$4 ECB's
    Total: 2.76 after taxes
    Got: $5 ECB

    #2: (2) $4 Pantene Styling products
$7.99 Vaseline Sheer Infusion Body lotion
    -$3 off $15 purchase coupon
    -$1.50 off vaseline body lotion
    -$1 off pantene coupon
    -$1 off pantene coupon
    -$5 ECB from purchase #1
    Total: $5.50
    Got: $9 ECB

    #3: (4) $4 Tide stain release tabs
    Bounce Dryer Bar
    (1) Tide Laundry detergent
    -$5 off $25 purchase coupon
-(6) $1 off Proctor and Gamble coupons
    -$9 ECB from transaction #2
    Total: 7.63
    Got: $10 ECB, and a $4 coupon

So, I spent $15.89 OOP ($3.41 of which is tax) and I have a $10 ECB, along with a $4 coupon on more body lotion.

    My savings today were $49.92.

My plan is to go back tonight or tomorrow for the 3M sale. After the $3 off $15, the coupons, and $10 ECB, it will be FREE and still have $5 ECB!
  • libby
    I have never gotten a $3 off of $5
  • libby

  • FrankieP

I have 2 great CVS locations in my town of Easley SC. Ya know I don't hesitate to complain when I am unhappy and tomorrow I am calling corporate to give them props on their stores in my area.....If you have a good store out there make sure you call corporate and let them know this. If nothing else it would might make management take a closer look at those stores that are getting some deserved negative feedback and possibly get them the customer service training they so desparately need.
  • libby
I have two good ones too...one is definatly better than the other but I can't be picky.
  • Sloan
The first time I shopped at the Easley store (the one near Bi-Lo, not the one near Ingles) I had a super great, very coupon friendly cashier. He let me use an expired CVS coupon and so my total was less than I had figured. I asked if he could hang on one minute, while I picked up something else, so I wouldn't lose $3 worth of ECB (there was no one else in line or anywhere around) and he just offered to manually print $3 ECB for me instead! He was awesome. I have not seen him again, though. I have not had such great experience at the other CVS in Easely.
  • lynn
I agree. I have great stores in my area (even shared a Bounce dryer bar with the cashier yesterday because she wanted to try it!) They are so helpful and don't take offense to the fact that I use coupons. I am usually asked for hints. Great shopping experience.

I will also say that I found the tide products very well stocked and that does not always happen (especially with the blinkies!!)

Could not do it without you Jenny! I have learned so much!
  • Tanya
Do you have to do seperate transactions to get the ECB deals? This is my first time doing this and would like to begin to get the deals, but I want to make sure I do it correctly for the best results. Thanks
  • Kimberly
No, you can do them all in one transaction.
  • Racheal
What is the 5 for 25?
  • Sue
Go to CVS.com & take the quiz about the flu and you can prrint a coupon for $5 off $25 purchase. You have to click on the "clinic" window on the CVS homepage.
  • Sue
The CVS in Clinton, S.C. today would not allow me to use the $1 off Q. They sai that I would be using 2 Qs on the same item. Also insisted that they had to take off lowest price item even though the Q did not say this. They had already voided transaction once and there were people in line behind me or I would have cancelled the sale. I feel that I was not doing anything wrong with my Qs.
  • Jen
Sue! I was there today too! I had an awful experience! I tried to get 2 thermacare items, had 2 Qs, and she wouldn't let me use 2 Qs! She said I could only use one per transaction. I argued and argued with her about how I had 2 products and I could use 2 Qs. She never let me use them, so I left the store with nothing. I had already used my 5 off of 25 and so now that won't work again. The cashier was soooo rude and made me feel like I was stealing from her pocket! I wonder what we can do about this store.
