How do i find out when double coupon day is???? Sincerely, New to this:)

      • kelly

you mean at a store? most stores that double coupons do it everyday just depends on the max they will double up to.

      • Michele1733

call the stores and ask or you can go to website and find coupons policy and it should be in there

      • Lightyourworldnow

publics and kroger will double .50 cent coupons everyday and bi-lo will double 60 cents daily….=0) at least in NA

      • Lightyouworldnow

oh and PS get the Columbia paper too there are a few variations, this week I got 3 Augusta, 1 columbia and 1 atl and there were some variations, the atl paper actually had a target booklet with a ton of coupons!

    • NC_Girl

Does this mean there will only be one coupon insert? No RR inserts?

      • couponbug

That is correct…only one coupon insert this week – Smartsource. There will not be a Red Plum, General Mills, or Procter & Gamble.

    • Angeline4483

I happened on your websit about a week ago, word of mouth from friend, anyways, I really love your site, it is by far the best- in my humble opinion, thank you so much for what you do, the savings and alerts, you site in general has already saved me a good deal of money and made it possible to afford items to donate to relief efforts, I am so thankful for your site!!! angeline

    • Rhonda

How do I find out the est time to buy Cheerioos?

    • I think I'm going to put my newspaper on vacation stop again for this weekend's delivery as the coupons just aren't going to be worth it to me to pay for the paper.

    • Heather Studdert

Can someone tell me where to find Jenny's list of reasonable prices for products? She mentioned it in one of her Youtube videos but I haven't been able to locate it on the site. I am very new to this and would like to know what a 'good' price is to buy things

        • Efranks41

Thanks, Jenny. I am rather new to couponing and know this will be a tremendous help. Thanks to another couponer in Walgreens Tuesday night who recommended Southern Savers website.

        • I noticed that the date on the post you linked is 2009. I’m curious to know if you still use that buy list as a guideline and if you have updated it since that post.

BTW, one of my former coworkers pointed me to your site a month ago when I put a call out on Twitter for good couponing sites for beginners. My husband got the itch after watching Extreme Couponing but with the help of your site I was able to clue him in to the reality of couponing. Now it is our fun couple project; doing this has helped make it easier to talk about other financial issues. Thanks for helping improve our marital togetherness :-).

    • ohhh the tylenol precise is a money maker at RiteAid starting the 8th! It qualifies on the weekend warrior deal where you get $10 UP with $25 in certain purchases. is a GREAT deal!

      • Couponzimmerle

        Micki,

I am new to this, what does $10 up mean?

        couponzimmerle@yahoo.com

        • Heather Davis

I have just begun also. Bought 40.00 items for $10.00 at Walgreens! It was great to save that much money on items we really use. I spent 19.00, but got $10.00 in reward bucks to use on my next trip… so it made it $10.00.
I don't understand RiteAid yet with the $10up either.. please someone reply ..

          • the UP are just like the RR from Wags except they print on the bottom of your receipt. CVS work the same way. The UP rewards expire faster than CVS or Wags rewards program. You have about 10 days to use them up.

          • grace

Heather, UPs work the same as Register Reward, only better! YOu have to get a wellness card though which takes all of 1 minute to get (from the store) Like this week, you buy mouthwash for 2.99, you get back 2UPs. There is a limit of 4 per household, so you can buy one, get the 2UP, use that to buy another plus a coupon if you have, get the 2 UP. YOu can go toe her section of Rite aid and it explains it

        • Tammy

riteaid has up rewards instead of extra care bucks at CVS and register rewards at Walgreens.:)

    • Deena

I was going to pass on buying the paper this weekend but I need allegra! So I guess I will buy one!

      • Mrsortega111111

is that an allergy medicine? If so I have 4 qs that I got from a paper a wk or so ago…if you want you can email me at bfinace39@yahoo.com with your address and I will mail them to you! No need of spending money just to get 1 coupon!

    • Gubydal37

Do you know if Kroger will accept store coupons from Ingles??

      • prissy87

I saw something telling that they did not accept any other store's coupons.

      • Unfortunately Kroger does not accept competitors coupons.

      • Lileigh1

Kroger doesn't, but Publix will as long as they carry that item.

    • Libby Watkins

Thanks for the list! Our Dollar Store has started selling the Sunday paper on Sunday for $1. It's nice to know if I only need one or several.

      • swaltz1

Just check for inserts before you buy – sometimes the dollar store papers are lacking the coupon section

    • Desi

I am new to couponing and I have a store ad that was in the paper with has coupons that you can cut out. But it says in-store coupon where it normally says manufacture coupon. Could I use these coupons anywhere? The ad is IGA stores. No where on the coupon does it say you can only use it at IGA stores.

      • Ladybug0143

Store coupons generally can only be used in that particular store. However, some stores will give you manufacturers coupons upon check with their store logo on it. I have always been able to use them anywhere as long as they say manufacturer coupon. But when you cut out in-store coupons, it is limited to that store. However, it can be combined with manufacturer coupons and you can double your savings that way. Hope I am able to help you out with that.

      • Arienjw3

if the store exepst conpeter couponse you may use it with a man. and also a store like this
        EX.
        razor.7.00
        – man. coupone 3.00
        -store coupone 2.00
        -comperter coupone 2.00

        get it for free

now this is just a example just ask the stour you shope at if they will take comperters coupone and if you can stack them like that and also who they conseder a conpeter.

      • Stephen

If the coupon is to get an item for a set price, and not a dollar amount off, WalMart will take it as a price match.

    • sgneiswo

I saw a customer of mine use a Walgreens register Reward to buy a sunday newspaper..He got 2 Sunday newspapers for free….I thought that was a pretty good idea…

      • Stephen

I like to get papers as filler items when I can. I'd rather not just buy the papers though, because I always want to roll my rewards.

    • -g

Please please tell me, or give me a scenario of how you get FREE toilet paper ??? I was just reading some back post, and a lady listed that toilet paper if free at kroger weekly? I am still new and learning how to do this, and still some what confused.
any help would be greatly appreciated.
      -g

      • Stephen

It was a while back when I remember getting it free. Kroger used to have the 4 pack of Angel Soft for $1, and the $.50 coupon didn't have size restrictions. It was nice to buy papers and go get the free toilet paper.

      • Tattoo_warehouse

Wlagreens has TP on sale this week its Normal 5 per 12 rool packs there is 1$ off each pack in there store coupon book then if you buy 3 packs you get a 4$ RR back and you can use a .55 Cent coupon from Cottenlle website makes it around 150 per pack of 12 rolls

    • racecitymj

      pretty lack luster :/

    • hg_33

Was anyone else in the Augusta area able to find the $1 off Ken's coupon in the Sunday insert?

      • Lightyourworldnow

doesnt that come out this sunday the 8th? check the columbia paper or get an atl paper.

      • Krikey509

It comes in this Sunday's paper.

    • Shop Now

Looks like I'll save a couple dollars by NOT buying a paper this Sunday, lol.

    • I will not be buying a paper this week, and I think I'll postpone my delivered paper also.

    • Creativekimberly

Too many people trying to use coupons now and the company's know it because the coupons are getting more lame as time goes on. And the value of the coupons are getting less and less. I've been using coupons for over 22 years and thanks to the extreme coupon freaks the shelves are empty, the stores are changing policy's rapidly and the coupons are less and less! I can't stand the show and It's sad that something which used to be fun has become frustrating! I will not be buying this weeks paper either! Most of those coupons are terrible and for things most people don't buy! And I'm SICK and tired of seeing pet food coupons!! There were in alot of last weeks inserts!

      • Geff

Sadly, I would agree with most of that. We didn't get into using coupons until a couple months before the shows came on the air. I have noticed some things changing lately and I'm sure it's because of the TV shows. Too bad they had to come on the air.

        • tammy phipps

I have to say, there is a LOT of people couponing these days, my last kroger trip was yesterday, the store was full of shoppers and just about EVERYONE I saw was using coupons, some not as organized as others, but we all have to find what works for us, even had an older gentleman ask about my binder, he loved it and said he was gonna try it……

      • amy

Well, unfortunately your attitude doesn't reflect the point of the show or the philosophy of couponing. If you listen closely to the extreme couponing show or to what a lot of people post of blogs, their purpose for couponing is to donate to those in need. There are a lot of people in need who don't have the means to coupon or the time on a regular basis. I handed a single mom at my daughter's school two bags of groceries and toiletries and she started crying because she said she had no idea where she was going to get money for toilet paper that week. She looked down and there was toilet paper on top. I had no idea, I just knew she would be blessed by those items. That is priceless and that is why couponing normally or to the extreme is worth it. Plus, dogs and cat shelters always can take donations of food, so use those pet food coupons too!!! That's just my two sense!!

        • Geff

I can understand that to a point, but if someone is going to go out there and “extreme coupon” and buy 75 of the same item and leave none for anyone else, I don't care if they are going to donate it or not, that's rude. Should I not be able to get my 1 or 2 of those items my family will use for cheap or free just because someone wants to donate it?

          • Aroberson854

I agree with you 100%….. Why do people have to be so greedy… Buy 2 or 3 but when you clean the shelf that is going a bit 2 far…… I went into my grocery store this week to pick up a few items and most of the shelves were bare due to extreme couponers going in and buying up everything……

            • Lorenelpn

Exactly! I honestly wish stores would set limits on how many items you can buy when such sales are going on.

          • guest

Why don't the people who like to clear the shelves just pick up the phone, call the manager and ask them to order extras for them. I saw the show last night and the guy and his wife that make donations do this. It seems very simple, fair and a lot less hassle. Just go in, they have it boxed and ready for you to pick up. No going through the aisles wasting time looking for things and counting to see how many you get. No guesswork and better all around for everyone. If you're going to be extreme and try to do good things for yourself or others, please…consider everyone involved, including the people coming in after you. I think all coupon sites should place an extreme emphasis on Coupon Etiquette or else the coupon manufacturers and stores are going to get worse and worse about policies.

        • couponmomma

Unfortunately the “point” of the show is not about donating. Many do – yes.. but that is not the point of the show.I am alll for donating , I donate myself. BUT… I do not ever clear a shelf, just to be able to donate it. I would rather see the people that need it , that are working in my community,to be able to find the products that u can get free with the coupons. If I clear a shelf and drop it all off at the donation center- many working parents that do not qualify for assistance ( bc they have a job) will not be able to get those same deals when they come to the store. Why should I grab 50 laundry detergent to store for 2 years or donate- when a single mother, or working parents may come in behind me just praying there are 2 bottles on the shelf, otherwise she can't afford to do laundry. I have handed people bags of things I bought, and I love seeing them be thankful. But please imagine the face of the person that comes in that NEEDS these deals to be able to get through week to week… what would their face look like to be disheartened when the shelves are cleared , and they can't afford to get by for their family :(

          • Geff

Extremely well said. no pun intended.

          • Lea

I couldn't agree more. I have donated items to churches, shelters, and our SPCA's around my area, but I enjoy it when I go in the stores and actually Give strangers coupons for free or nearly free items. The look of disbelief and surprise, not to mention their “Thank You's” always warms my heart. I'd love to see the producers of Extreme Couponing just show up at some of their guests homes with trucks so they can ” donate ” to all the storm victims we have in the south. Now that would be a show to watch!

          • Gypseasoul

One of the people who NEED some of these items to get through the week/month is me. I am a single mother and use coupons to stretch the maybe $40 a week grocery budget that I have and too many times I have been to the store to get a BOGO free mustard, just one, and the shelves have been cleared.

      • I think it goes in cycles. I see a lot in this week's insert that my family will use! I am GLAD to see the pet coupons! I'm also glad to see coupons for RAID, smart balance milk, tyson products. Heck if I buy three tyson items I get a spa day! what's not to like about that? And there's the 50/1 Mrs. Dash AND a $1 off BEEF wyb Mrs. Dash! Couple that with a sale and you get seasoning AND beef! I guess I'm a glass half full kind of person :D

      • Jessica

I think everything, including couponing, is what you make it. I don't get every deal I'd like to. I don't get every coupon that I'd like to. I still find it fun and I feel very blessed to save on what I do. You are complaining because the coupons this week aren't something that YOU would use. I am sure that there are plenty of people out there who are happy with the coupons in this weeks paper. There are also plenty of people who appreciate the pet food coupons. Couponing is for EVERYONE not just a few select individuals. The coupons should and will vary. If it's that frustrating I don't understand why you'd keep couponing and like I said before everything is what you make of it. Also, I don't agree with everything that is shown on Extreme Couponing, but you have no right to call them freaks. They are human beings and whether or not what they do is wrong is a matter of opinion. They don't deserve to be insulted by you or anyone else. That is just plain wrong.

    • I love Smart Balance (and they're often free) so I will buy extra this week <3

    • Don

Extreme couponing has been going on for years. Because of the show, it seems like everyone is doing this.

    • Calesv

Ever since the show aired, I'm no longer getting my weekly inserts in the mail. I know that they're out there because I have neighbors that do get theirs. My post office can't seem to offer me an explanation. Has anyone else been having this problem? I'm starting to wonder if someone has been stealing them. Have people gotten that crazed about it?

      • I've had to call the AJC several times about this. They send a second paper out later on Sunday or Monday. I don't know where my coupon inserts go, but I hope whoever needed them had pets. That seemed to be the only coupons in the last insert.

    • Docajaly

Last Sunday (5/1) I bought 4 papers and the P & G Brandsaver coupons were not in any of them =(. Any ideas how or where I can pick up that insert? I tried calling the paper, they said it is a store problem, of course, the store said it is how they came from the newspaper company! At least the sweet manager I talked to said if I bring in my receipt, she will give me free papers this coming Sunday. That still leaves me trying to get the P & G Brandsaver coupons. Any ideas will be appreciated!

      • Terri

Perhaps call and order some of that Sunday's local paper with all of the inserts to be shipped to a local office location to pickup. The St Petersburg Times charges reg prices for back issues but the Tampa Tribune only offered back issues shipped by USPS for $7.50 each (No Way Jose!) Perhaps find some coupon buddies or a group to trade with locally? Order off the internet…

I was told from a St Petersburg Times ( FL) newspaper representative that the home delivered papers are guaranteed all of the Sunday coupon inserts whereas the stores and newspaper boxes are not. He also said people could subscribe for up to 10 Sunday Papers plus this saves gas and time. He also had the best rates for subscriptions / better than the advertised specials if any one is interested…

      • Tattoo_warehouse

http://www.wholecouponinserts.com they are cheep always send out on time a great group of people to deal with

      • daniel

i use to work for a newspaper up in nc and the papers that we delivered to homes verus what is deliver to the store was different there was always more coupons in the home delivery and not the store ones.

it may be the same situation in your area.

      • KNCmax

You can get the whole insert from “coupons by dede.” Her wesbite allows you to get clipped coupons or whole insers. I have used that site and love it! Shipped within 2 days and no issues when using the coupons at check out.

        • Docajaly

Thank you so much!I will definately check there!

      • Last Sunday, my husband went to pick up an AJC at the local grocery store, and he noticed that another lady was buying several copies of the newspaper without looking through them first to make sure they had coupon inserts. He said, ” Aren't you gonna check those for inserts first?” And she responded that there was a number we can call if the inserts are missing. This was the first I had heard of this. I thought store copies of newspapers were not guaranteed to have inserts. Anybody who deals with AJC know anything about this?

      • Floydus87

If you sign up online, they mail the coupons directly to you. I buy diapers so I always try to have these types of coupons when they come out. Then if you get the insert too, it is a bonus. But, it might be too late to get these ones in particular.

      • Sosacouponreina

@ Docajaly, I happen to have connections with someone from our local paper so I get more P&G coupons than I can use. I could mail you some for free if you'd like! :0)

    • thebeautywired

      I love Coupons! :)

    • Mspattykins69

which paper is this out of. I get the Fforida Times Union out of Jacksonville Fl.

    • I usually wait until midday Sunda to go buy my papers and much to my surprise I had to go to 3 different stores — the last place I stopped looked like all the papers had been rifled trhough. Against my better judgement I bought 2 papers and only got the smartsource inserts–nothing else. Very unhappy with all the craziness……… store shelves stay empty. I buy for a household of 2–I don't need to be greedy, but I'd like to be able to purchase a few things here and there & lately it's impossible.

      • Guest

In upstate SC,you need to go early(before lunch at least)and buy from a place that will let you look through to make sure everything's there.Walgreens doesn't mind for instance. There's a list of coupons to look for every week on this site….can hardly be easier.

        • Jennifer

I agree. I am from Greenville and do the same in my Walgreens. They are notorious for not having all of the inserts in them so I take my time and look to make sure they are all there.

    • Marie

I am new to using coupons. On this site how do I get the coupons that are listed as the store weekly shoppers that are not shown as printable.

can you use coupons that you get in the mail from Costcos in stores like Kroger?

      • Bradyfigueroa

I don't think so….most of the coupons I see for those are for bulk items that are packaged together and not even sure you would find the same packaging that those coupons apply to anyway…..

    • ce

i hate going to a store and eveything being cleared out. It makes no sense. It is usually 1 or 2 people and for what. How much soap do you need. It's not like it won't be cheap again. I mean every week it's almost free if not free. I am new to this and it is money saving for my family. I seems like many just do it to see how much they can get and brag about. If you get 50 bottle of shampoo deoderant and soap each trip you prob have a problem with shopping. Save a little for us that want just 2 bottles cause we need it and don't have money. You say you have saved money. What the heck are yu doing with the moey! How much of a stock pile do you need? A couple of bottles should last 6 weeks and that is when everything is said to be on sale. Save for everyon else start using wht you have! I vow to neer be his way. I have been doing thi for maybe a month and there are items I have neer been able to get. I'm not crazy enouh to get up at 5 on sun to go shopping. I just want to be able to go out and get or 2 things on a mon or tues. Is this too much to ask!

      • I honestly believe that there is an influx of people who are new to couponing, and those people are the ones clearing shelves. The new will wear off of couponing when they have 100 boxes of pasta that they can't eat. Then, they will start couponing responsibly. We just have to wait for the new to wear off for these new couponers. And yes, they're only doing it because of what they see on TLC. I keep hearing people at CVS and Kroger talking about that show and saying they have been couponing for 2 weeks, etc. Every time I hear someone talking about the show, i butt into their conversation and offer my opinion on the show. I know it's rude, but people need to know that it's not real. It amazes me when they argue with you about how it is real. Oh yeah, it's every week that I buy $1000 of groceries for $2 (sarcasm). Get real!

        • Amandalm21

I definitely agree. I'm doing this because I want to save money for my family. I went to Kroger last night and didn't even get as much duplicates as i had written on my sheet (put down to get 6 boxes of pasta but only bought 4.) Its like when i look at it, i think “Im going to be right back here next week, why do i need 6 boxes?” Even though that really isnt that much for a family of 5 but i know that pasta will be on sale somewhere else next week. I get beyond frustrated when the shelves are cleared of an item – and beyond frustrated when a worker at the store gives you THE LOOK. Im not coming in with 100 coupons lady, calm down. Just because i'm bringing in my big binder, doesnt mean i'm clearing your shelf. Im bringing it in in case you have sales i didnt know about. Which happens EVERY time i go. I got 2 free bottles of Ivory body wash last night…Very ecstatic! They wouldnt take all 4 of my coupons for the chips that wound up being free. Was a big mad at that but oh well.

        • 7308CLS

i have had many folks ask me about couponing since the show just because i carry a binder–mind you i have only been couponing for less than six months–but i think it helps all of us to explain things- and fill them in on the truth about it and how much they truely need to purchase–when i started i felt the rush just like everyone– and folks can't say they don't feel pretty good when they have an awesome trip–but i think people just need to be educated on whats real– and reminded–THERE WILL BE ANOTHER SALE AND MORE COUPONS

      • Bradyfigueroa

I totally agree……does your grocery store give rainchecks for sale items when they don't have any in stock? I kind of think the Extreme Couponing program is encouraging this behavior….

      • Andy

I hear you….I visited my publix last night in Goose Creek and the shelves for the pizza, snackers, Edward pies, and cereal were completely empty. I mean geeeezzz! Wednesday was the first day of the sale and stay-at-moms (nothing against them) should save some deals for the rest of those who work all day! Now I have to make serveral trips during the week or hit the Publix on Dorchester to get my groceries.

        • 7308cls

i doubt its the stay at home moms buying out the store–it's the folks with 30 coupons for each item and then have multiple store cards–i have seen it 1st hand

          • Christine the new couponer

I went to Publix tonight. They were out of several things. They did give me rainchecks, & it just happened the truck had arrived while I was there. They brought me everything I asked for. Call ahead & check when the truck delivers to ensure they will have everything in stock. Publix is pretty good about rainchecks.

        • I do agree that shelf-clearers suck, but it's quite offensive to make a sweeping generalization that stay at home moms are the shelf-clearers.

        • travis

I guess I am lucky. Most of the people in my area think Publix is too expensive and so it is not very popular. After several days of couponing, I found Publix has the BEST deals compared to Kroger and always has extra stock in the back. You just have to ask them and they will bring it out for you. When I checked out, they said there was a lady there earlier that day (on a Saturday of all days) had 5 carts full of stuff (including the one item I needed) and admitted that they didn't have the time to restock the item. “Ask and ye shall receive.”

    • Amandalm21

I didnt get any inserts in the mail this week. Did anyone else get any??

      • Rebelutionarysw

        I got two smartsources!

        • Amandalm21

Well dang!!! I guess ill have to buy extra papers on Sunday so i can get some. UGH. Well it might be cheaper to go to a clipping service and pay $1.00 for the inserts rather than pay for the paper…

          • Laneynrick

Hi, where can you buy the inserts, rather than the whole news paper?

    • ce

the woman in auburndale last night on tlc is about 5 miles from me. I want to go strangle her. she had the local winn dixieoder stuff for the show. she buys 114 things of med that she could never take before they expire just because they paid her. She did the same with cat food and pasta. What in the world? She bought 1000 things of pasta and gave 600 to charity! Why do you need 400 boxes for yourself? waste if you ask me and not helping the economy. She teaches classes that she charges( I know people who teach and it's free) She tells the people in her class to go to 10 dif local gas stations to get news papers. Then when they don't sell them all she gets the rest free. She also writes off the charity on her taxes. Shes getting it all freeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Makes me want to scream. All I know is I want to donate to charity too, but I wonder if it s better to leave it on the shelf and get the word out to the needy about coupons.

    • ce

I am a stay at home mom and I don't go out first thing in the am every day. I will say I have more time than most, but I am not about to wake my kids up to go to the store every day. I guess that's what makes a difference! (priorities) Don't get me wrong I want to save, but not to any extremme

      • I hear you. We have one car, so I'm stuck at home with the kids all day while my husband is at work. I can't go to the grocery store until he gets home from work. By then, all the groceries are cleared out. You have to get to the store early to get anything.

    • Jennifer

I noticed at my Publix last week that they are starting to put limits on some things so that certain people are not clearing the shelves by Thursday and leaving nothing for everyone else. I was THRILLED!!!! I hope they keep that up. Just another reason to love Publix :)

      • I'm jealous. We do not have a Publix. Even if we did, there would be no competitor coupons that could be used. The closest Publix to me has a Target next door, and it is great. But it's $20 in gas to get there and back, so I don't go anymore.

        • Jennifer

I have never once used a competitor coupon at the store I shop at. I am not even sure if they take them. I still save 50% to 60% off my bill every week without them.

      • ce

i really wish cvs winn dixie and walgreens would put a limit. It's great that publix is but I never really have had a problem. They seem to be the only store that has stuff when I go. (at the end of the sale) Walgreens and cvs have great deals but they don't restock the items on sale

        • What I don't get about CVS is… there is a limit on how many items have ecb's… so why are the ecb items getting gone.. most deals have a limit of 1 or 2

          • Jillmaek

People have more than one card.

          • Fourbirds2000

In my experience, grocery stores will stock up on items that are going on sale. CVS, Rite Aid, and Walgreens do not. They just use existing stock, which isn't much.

            • Coupontwins

Walgreens uses it as a ploy to get people in the store. I have had rain checks for one of the items they had on sale and of course “The warehouse is out of stock” as they tell me. Its amazing that once my coupons expired all the sudden they magicly got the items on the shelves and will not honor the expired coupons now.

            • SHERRYBERRY7570

              I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU!!!

          • gwhiz

I've seen people with multiple cards clearing out shelves. I'm so tired of people being so greedy!

        • Ogrisson

I always get a raincheck at CVS and Walgreens…so I never worry when they run out because I always return the next week or so and it has been restocked.

          • jennie y

ya rainchecks are amazing. i just hate when the add says “while supplies last” and they dont have a cap on it! just drives me nuts since we always wait till friday to get our groceries since its the only day we both have off work

        • JH

I agree! Everytime I go to Walgreens they are out of at lest one of the itmes I want!

    • guest

I have to share my small opinion here. I realize that many families don't have to buy 20 boxes of pasta at a time and that soooo many people are irritated that the shelves are always empty. I don't agree with taking hundreds of items for one family. However, our economy is BAD and getting worse. I fear everday that one of us will cease to be employed. What do you do then. Having a generous (not clinically absurd) stockpile is smart in so many ways. The next time pasta is on sale, I may have nooo money to go to the grocery store when gas is over $4 a gallon. I know that God forbid I do lose my job that I can feed my children for several months

      • ce

i agree with having enough for that everyone seems to be worried about their job. I'm just saying that if you buy it use it. I have a hard time believing that 400 things of pasta can be used before expiring (extreme couponing tlc) I just feel that sometimes it's a game to people. If you need it get it, but some don't do it for saving. People are reselling it and that's why they buy in bulk. Publix is changing their policies because of that. I guess what I mean is it's almost always going to be on sale and coupons make it practically free. How would you not have money for it if it's free????

        • guest

I agree, I'm not buying stuff that I can't use, but I do buy a lot when there is a sale. If people keep reselling we will c big changes and not in a good way. If u have enough time to get something for free to resell it than u have enough time to work on someones payroll. Or donate it. Not resell it.

        • tina

now it's free, but just as i'm sure you realize more and more people are couponing and the deals are getting harder and harder to get it is only smart to ensure your family won't go hungry if disaster strikes your family. I'm not talking about hording food but it is always a good idea to get all you will need of a sale item so it will last unti it is on sale again. Nothing feels better to me than to know I have extra food on hand and I'm not talking 300 of an item just what i'll need til next sale

        • kathy

so what is the new policy at Publix, Me and my 3 sisters buy in 20 that is 5 of whatever for each of us. Also if something is FREE we will buy to take to local homeless shelter.

        • gwhiz

Thank you for your post, I am so tired of people acting like it's a blessing to be greedy. The economy is bad for MOST people, stop wiping the shelves on things you will never use. We are all strrugglin!

          • I agree, after having seen the show on TLC, it did make me want to get back into my thoughts of using coupons and I did and so glad I saw the show, but it also me think some of the people featured, have a sickness of hoarding and stinginess.

Even before I started couponing, it really burned me up to get to the store, on the day of the sale, after I get off work to see that there was nothing left. Yes, I can go back but it is a hassle to have to go back more than once in order to get food for my family.

      • Roger

I could not agree with you more!

      • Asolstice06

I agree. I coupon on about a 3 month supply of itmes. I do buy in bulk. I just bought 30 boxes of pasta and we will eat it all before they expire. I think its responsible couponing. It goes hand in hand with things like not stealing the peelies off itmes you are not buying and not copying coupons. I am all for limits. If I cant get 3 months supply of the item because of limits , I can always go back the next day. its about keeping the shelves stocked for other people and using your coupons responsibly. Also, be sure to thank your cashiers and the managers for the way they handle coupons. If they don't know its important to you then they will be more likely to change policies without taking individuals into consideration.

    • De

I also live in Auburndale. I agee. Because of the show and all the couponing classess she is doing. I can't even use my coupons because nothing is left on the shelves. I now have to go on the first day of the sale as soon as I get off work. I you wait any later you will not get the product. I gues I am going to have to get rainchecks (which I never do) from now on and get them at a later date. With gas almost $4.00 a gallon, I can't afford to be running around to all these different stores. Forgot to mention, I have always used coupons and love it. I hope all this hype ends soon.

      • ce

I get rain checks at cvs and walgreens cause they never restock. The problem is they will usually set a limit yet the woman before me got 100 bottles! what is wrong with this pic?

    • Jjrutt

Where do most or any of you buy your coupons from, do you get them from the sunday paper or buy just inserts and if you buy inserts how much do they cost usually?

      • Angeline4483

I get mine from the sunday paper, print, and occasionally buy coupons, couponclippers is a good site for buying cut coupons.

        • kathy

          so is ebay

      • travis

I am new at couponing. I don't have a huge collection of coupons, mostly just internet coupons and ecoupons. I purchased (just a few days ago) over 300 current coupons on ebay for under $10 to get me started (if you think about it, it is cheaper than buying several different Sunday papers and receiving more coupons for the $). I am looking forward to what I will be getting and think this will get me off to a good start.

    • cody

      which sunday papers to buy

    • Ce, Seriously, that woman in Auburndale is my sister in law, and your threat will land you in jail. She provides for her family of 10, three other families in need, three food banks, provides donations to boys camps, and just donated a huge van full (which she drove there herself) of much needed supplies to Alabama to help the Tornado victims. What the hell have you done for your community besides complaining. Plus your slanderous remarks are WRONG. She DOES NOT charge for for her classes! And she does not tell people to go to 10 different gas stations to get newspapers. And yes all the donations can be deducted from your taxes! It sounds like you are jealous, and need someone to blame. Blame yourself not someone who is changing the lives of so many families in need! Get a life!

    • Bree33

i’m so confused!! when i go to publix.com to print out their store coupons, it takes me to coupons.com..aren’t those manufacturers coupons? where do you find STORE coupons so i can stack?? i’m new to this!! help!!

    • Liddybug60

Hi, I have always used coupons just one or two here and there with my weekly shopping but since being unemployed as of last Novemeber it really hit home that coupons represent money. My daughter and I have been taking our times comparing sales with coupons and yes we are getting quite good at it. We limit ourselves to stockpiling 6 items with most things but it we aquire more because of super good deals or freebies they go into a donation box. When that box has aquired six of most items I dontate routinely like a box with 6 toothbrushes, 6 toothpaste, razors, shampoo, soap, ect. Off to our church clothes closet the donations go. this makes just enough items to set up a nice display for our needy. no need to clear the shelves.

    • stephanie

i didnt get any $1 off coupons for kens salad dressing or any carefree $1 off coupons why is that? where can i find some at?

    • Fletcher_nichole

I'm very disappointed .. There were only 8 coupons in my SS insert and it wasn't any of the good ones listed above.

    • Tennillesmith

I am located in Myrtle Beach, SC and just bought 4 papers. The front of the paper said up to $1009 in coupons inside. I did a quick look through at the store and it looked like the coupons were in there, but when I got home there was only 1 SS and it has about $80 dollars in coupons, not $1009. Does anyone know if I should have received other coupons? Thanks!

      • guest

jenny said at the top there is only one insert this week

      • K9cop104

Sounds like someone lifted your coupons!

      • Mistys

The total at the top of the paper also includes the coupons in your sales papers.

    • aroberts

After the Sunday paper comes out, what day does southern savers have all the info from the paper listed on the site?

    • Ggardner

With this being mothers day will their be coupons in todays papaers

      • Awer

Yes, you are looking at the coupon preview…

    • Kimberlyhumphries

I am new to actually USING my coupons…as I have always cut them…and then let them expire :)….I just want to bring attention to many of you who donate all these items…I feel like manufacturers are printing coupons to lure buyers to try their items for future sales. I used my $3.00 off Nivea bodywash and that's ALL I wanted for Mom's Day was MORE!! To me, to take a $5 Q on two Ex-Lax at $2.29 to make .40 and donate those pills over and over is a misuse. That is taking away from Publix/manufacturer bottom line. if they want to donate their items…that is for them to do….

      • Jamie Owens

are you kidding me? Do you think publix/manufacturer are worried about your bottom line I don't think so. If you have ever worked in retail you will know that most stores waste more product than they donate. When an Item comes up on expiration they first lower the price then that write it off. They then destroy the item so that no one gets any use out of it. I have work in many retail stores both food and hardlines and have witnessed this on more than one occasion. So dont delude yourself in to thinking that they have our best intrest at heart. I don't feel one bit guilty for buying extra free items and giving it away, at leaset I know someone who needs it will benefit from it. If I happen to make a little extra I money off a coupon I don't worry to much because I know That I will give ti back to the store when I buy that over price meat that I am buying for dinner.

        • Chris

Great post Jamie and I agree – I remember as a teenager working at Walmart and they destroyed merch all the time before throwing it away. They figured if they couldn't sell it and couldn't send it back for credit with the manuf and they were going to have to just dispose of it then they would make sure no one got any use out of it by making it worthless. A pitiful shame and such a waste. I have no sympathy for retailers or manufacturers – they still make their money. The bonus about Publix is they are still privately held and employee owned so they do a lot more than other publicly traded companies – and that's why they get my loyalty no matter if I have a Q or not.

      • Chris

If you think the store is losing money you are deluding yourself. Those store Qs, for example Publix, are negotiated deals between the retailer and the manufacturer. Publix is getting the product at an incredible price to be able to offer the deal. Couple that with a manuf Q and the store typically loses no money but actually still makes money. If you add in the fact thatif they are losing money they use those deals as a lure to shoppers (what's called a “loss leader”) because they know the shopper will come in and buy the deal but also pick up other items while there (which they make money back that they lost on the deal offered). Thousands of people pay full retail or just sale prices and never use a single Q – I see it every single time I'm in a store and every single time I go to our community recycle bin and see stacks Qs being thrown out with newspapers.

And who does it hurt if the products gotten for free are donated instead of hoarding them? There are a lot of people who need help these days and I cannot afford to donate money or products without the assistance of Qs so I get the product in question for free or very little cost. If I buy 380 boxes of pasta, keep 10, and donate the rest then that helps out those that are in a situation where they need help – a fact that I was reminded of last night while at Kroger where I gave away some pasta and potato chips that I got for free to a family OF TEN who needed the help and asked me how I had done what I did. That to me is the reward all by itself – not even the accomplishment of getting 160 boxes of pasta and 30 bags of chips for $0.26 cents.

      • foximoxie

That's absolutely ridiculous..I apologize if I sound harsh in type but I couldn't disagree with you more. Regarding your reasoning how does Publix suffer at all since they have no way of knowing whether you kept the products that you bought from them with coupons or if you donate them so how do you figure it affects them at all? If you use a $5 coupon and keep the item is that not the same “loss” Publix suffers than if you used the $5 coupon and donated the item? If they offer the sales and coupons then they are encouraging the customer to purchase sale items as well as hoping that you'll buy non-sale items. I agree with @431e6b6b3dd5c82b034c1c51b897f0d1:disqus ..Publix is my favorite store and I can't say enough good things about them but they're a business and their priority is to collect your money which is completely understandable, and just like all super markets they are very good at bringing in that money.

      • How is it misuse? Publix is reimbursed for the coupon, and if the items are not purchased, they are trashed, anyway.

    • Jennifer

Did anyone get the$2 off Reach toothbrushes? I was really hoping for this coupon, but apparently it wasn't in my area. Oh how I wish the coupons were the same for all regions. I feel I miss out on good coupons.

      • Jillmaek

same here. we didn't get them in the Raleigh N&O

    • Laura

No insert in the AJC today – called and they said because of Mothers Day

      • They lied, because I picked up 2 double papers at Wal-mart this morning. I got 4 SS (1 in each) and 4 Publix Grilling inserts.

      • Vonzuvius

Bad Coupon Day — I buy my AJC at Publix on Sun AM. This AM they did not have any of the double papers for $3. So, I say what the heck and bought two papers at $2 each. Got home and found one paper didn't have ANY coupons — the other one had the Smart Source. So someone swiped my SS, and neither had a Red Plum, but I guess they weren't supposed to. I wasn't too excited about the coupons this week but at least I was gonna get the FREE toothbrushes – NOT — I've looked through the SS flyer multiple times and there is no Reach toothbrush coupon.
I'm new at this game — but this week sux!

        • Vonzuvius

          Lessons Learned –
          1) I should check here first and see what inserts are supposed to be there, and
          2) I should flip through the paper before buying it to make sure they are there.
I grab a paper out of the middle of the stack in case some jerk swiped the coupon inserts from the paper below theirs when they pick theirs up – but even that didn't help me this time.

    • T Allworth

This is disapointing! The weekend before last, there was not any coupons (Easter) then laste weekend I was “missing” both of the ss inserts and now there is only one insert for this sunday. Where have all the coupons gone?? :-(

      • Chris

They come in waves – the other week there were 5 inserts in my paper and now this week only 1. Disappointing but it will come back around.

    • Meleah

MIGHT ANYONE HAVE CONSIDERED THAT THERE ARE MOMS OUR THERE THAT WANT COUPONS FOR MOTHER'S DAY?!

    • Hazel1973

Has anyone gotten coupons in the raleigh nc news and observer. I went to two different walgreens and cvs and no one had coupons in the newspaper.

      • Carolina Coupon Mom

If you live in Durham, then the coupons were in the free Durham paper.

        • Hazel1973

Thanks for the info but I live in Raleigh.

          • Ashers Mom

I live in Fayetteville and went and got the Raleigh paper this morning and they had the Smartsource coupons in it….maybe someone took the coupons out

            • Hazel1973

That's what I thought at first. So I went to a different walgreens and cvs and none of them had coupons. I asked one of the clerks at walgreens and he said none of the papers had coupons in it. We looked through four different papers and nothing.

            • Jillmaek

i got 2 papers they both had the inserts but did you guys get the Reach 2 off coupon? or the tylenol patch one? those are the 2 i'm missing so far…. :(

      • bjnc

Coupons were in the N&O we get delivered.

      • There were coupons in there but not many

      • JYMY_USA

I did get 6 news&observer last nite and they have the cuopons.

    • emerson

tuscaloosa news didnt have any coupons either they said no papers would have coupons today

    • Birgit Gilbert

Once again I am very disappointed in the Greenville news coupon insert. It did not have the tylenol precise coupon and half of the insert was advertising and not coupons. I will make my money back on what I spent on the cost of the news paper but that is all. I am not trying to sound greedy but they put on the front that there were 300 dollars in coupons inside and it definitely was not.

      • emily

add up the total of coupons and then send the complaint in the editors pick….maybe they will take notice

      • When it says $x amount in coupons, it includes ALL coupons – Mine said $1000 because there was a coupon for $750 off home renovation service.

Yours could include Walgreen coupons, Dollar General, etc etc.

    • Kdswedding

Did anyone in Greenville get all of their coupons? I seemed to be missing a lot of ads and a lot of these coupons were not there either

    • Brittney

Coupons were in the Atlanta Journal Constitution today!

        Not in mine! :(

    • My parents just moved to Colorado and my father was coming to New Bern, NC on Sunday so I asked them to get me some papers from the airport, so I could see what, if any, differences there were…well inserts from one of the papers had the Tylenol coupon in it as well as the Carefree coupons, which were not in the NB paper. I get the New Bern Sun Journal and the N&O. I am definitely going to get a couple of subscriptions to the papers she has access to and have her mail them to me.

I just started couponing recently, so I glad I started but wish I would have stuck with my idea of doing it years ago. I am so grateful for sites like this that make it so easy to save money!!!!

I got the tylenol coupons from going to their site. Using them in combination with the $3 off store coupon from walgreens I got 2 boxes free last week. When I got the paper on Sunday, there were more in there so I really stocked up!!!!

I didn't see any Target coupons in my one SS circular (The State) but in Target's ad there is a $10 gift card with any new or transferred prescription (exp 5/23) that's always helpful around our house.

I was so upset to see that I didn't get any coupons this Sunday. I am not sure why but I will go get another paper just to see. Granted, I will check for the coupons first :)

I was also upset that I didn't get any coupons in this Sunday's paper. That's the only reason that I buy the Sunday paper and to my surprise the coupons were missing.

This is a growing problem…some people tend to spoil everything for others. We had that happen in our area a few weeks back and the police were called!

I have noticed when holidays come coupons are not in the paper. So be aware on holidays no coupon inserts.

    • Jule

I am so upset! Most of the coupon listed on here isn't on my SS coupon insert!

    • Diane

I brought a Decatur Daily and it had no coupon insert, I called my Mom and she get home delivery and she had no insert also, so I call the Decatur Daily and the customer service person told me that because of Mother Day there was no insert this week. I went and purchased a Huntsville paper and it had inserts…..This is so confusing….did anyone that gets the Decatur Daily in Alabama get coupons inserts for SmartSource?

      • Rainey993

I didn't get one. I live in East Lawrence. My paper didnt have one.

      • No coupons for us either bought both decatur and huntsville much to my dismay after putting money in the machine.

    • Chinafairydoll

I did not get the reach toothbrush coupons??

I am finding people are getting really crazy with couponing. I need to coupon becuase my husband is the only one that works. I have a disable child. I only get what we use and need but I was told by a manger of one store that he had to ladies from 3 countines over that comes in a wipes everything out. Also that he only gets one truck a week. I know I can get a rain check before anything is said. He also told me that stores are working on different policies for couponing because people do wipe them out. I know it's exciting and to me couponing is fun but our need to get it for free and get everything is going to come back and bite us on the but.

I agree with this completely! I stay home with our kids and we coupon as a necessity. It is fun for me and I love to save money. I only purchase what we will use. Here lately people clear the shelves just for a high. With behaviors like that I really wonder how much longer we will see paper coupons!!

I couldn't agree more. I'm couponing out of necessity for a household surviving on Social Security Disability with the government failing to pass a COLA (cost of living adjustment) for the third year in a row. That puts us at an earning of 25% BELOW poverty level. So every single cent counts to my family.

When I watch these TV shows and extreme couponing sites using what I consider to be “unetchical couponing”, my jaw hangs agape. First of all for the stockpiling of items they MIGHT need but currently don't. Cat food when they have no cats. Diapers when they aren't dating, don't have children, don't know anone with children and aren't donating to charities! How selfish and obtuse!

In the mean time when I go shopping at Lowes I'm faced with not being able to use more than 20 manufacturing coupons in a DAY at their store, the ability to only use 4 coupons for 4 of the same item to ensure product availability for all customers, can't double a coupon if it exceeds the retail or sale price of the item, and no cash back awarded. Food Lion here isn't any better with restrictions such as: no cash back, not able to use more than one coupon per item with a maximum of 10 coupons for the same item per customer, free item coupons can't exceed the purchase price of item, and lastly they reserve the right to limit the quantity of coupons that may be redeemed in one shopping visit and no doubling of coupons.

It seems as more and more of these extreme sites/shows come out and more people jump on the band wagon hoarding for the sake of the “win” – those out here who could really use the know how and capability of such vast deals are feeling the pinch as our stores begin to buckle down and wag a finger in our face with a resounding, “No, no. Not allowed.”

I notice with the Sunday Paper, they are never consistent. The paper that got delivered to my house had no coupon inserts! However, I went to the store and most of them had that one insert for the paper.
