They told me at Costco today because I had a membership 13 years ago I would not get the free items. Anyone know if this is true?

Same thing happened to me. Even tho I had not been a member since 2001, they considered me an “existing” member. Didn’t get any of the freebies. :( I think the wording needs to say “previous” members.

Man! I bought it before this promo code came in :P Ah well. Still a great deal!

      • Lauren, I would still just ask the Customer Svs counter if the discount could be credited. It may work out for you :-)

When I clicked the link it comes up as $55 not $45. Still a decent deal but I’m not eligible :(

At the final step of the confirmation, there is a place to enter the coupon code and it did work. I had some problems signing in/up with “living social” – it said my email account was already registered (I may have signed up years ago?) but it had no password so I signed in through facebook. We shall see!

Bridget you have to apply the coupon code…and it works :O)

      Is this valid for renewals?

    • Erika

When I click on this link it takes me to deals in the Beaumont area. I do not live in this area so can I still use it in my area

You can go through EBates and get 6% cash back too. I went yesterday and got my membership; however, I did not get the coupons for the free items because I had a free membership back in 2000 when they first opened :( … Of course I didn’t remember that, he pulled it up under my maiden name.

    • Kelliea

It’s apparently not valid for renewals. My current Costco membership is under my name, and my husband has a secondary card on my account. I wonder if this would work if we signed him up as the primary account holder?

Does it matter if you don not live in Dallas area?

Did not work for me. The link took me to a Living Social where the membership sells for $55. I entered the code, then went online to check my cc and I was charged $55. I didn’t even want a Costco membership. Only got it b/c of the deal :(

I believe the deal on Living Social was for the upgraded Gold Star membership (normally $110) which gives you a 2% rebate at the end of the year (2% of your total purchases), plus all the freebies. If you got the Living Social deal, I think you print that certificate and then take it to Costco to complete the membership. Hope this helps!

I purchased this on the 8th and am still waiting for my coupons – it said 8-10 days . . . .
