I'm rolling my rewards into mechanical pencils and markers for OCC boxes!!!

    • elizabeth

      Thanks, Jenny!
Just a heads-up…the colored pencils eligible for the rewards is a box of red, not the assorted. Not sure who uses an entire box of red colored pencils, but we just got more markers instead :)
I was so happy to see a different variety of items for the rewards! Seemed like they were only doing sharpies, hanging file folders and envelopes for soooo long.
Thanks Jenny for getting me into this. Our home office is STOCKED!

    • Dont forget to go through ebates first and get 3% back!

    • Laurakc181

It is for people that are teachers or own a business only right? If I homeschool my kids does that count? Or does my home business have to be a registered business? I have one that I don't sell enough to even claim taxes for – would that work? just wondering :)

      • lynn

The teacher program is the better one. I signed up as a teacher. I homeschool too. I've been a member for over a year.

      • Kmthornton

I homeschool as well. We have been using MaxPerks for our school supplies for a year.

    • Donna

I thought I read somewhere that you cannot use your previous rewards to buy reward items. At least, you won't get the reward. Anyone know for sure?

      • Amy B.

That is true at Office Depot. I have always been able to at Office Max, I just purchase something slightly higher than the reward I'm using and its always rolled.

    • roseandruthsmama

can I roll my previous rewards money and still get rewards money back?

    • Artje

I ordered the paper and the markers. I used some rewards. Do I still get rewards back for these items?? How long does it to show up that I got rewards. This is my first time using rewards….. Thanks….

    • Cpsenter

ok reading your comments I'm a little confused. can anyone offer me any pointers. I have a new maxperks teachers card but have not used it. If I buy these items then I get reward money back? like CVS bucks? then I have to turn and use that at office max right? was just trying to calculate if they are “really” free or not. I never shop at Office Max that much so I am afraid I wouldn't really end up using the rewards for something I really needed and am afraid i wouldn't really save in the long run. any pointers for this newbie? thanks! :-)

    • Dawlski99

I heard you can buy gift cards at the store using your office perks as long as it is not for Office Max. Is this true? I would also love to find out if you can use your existing Max Perks to buy more items that offer office perks.

    • Lindsayannerich

I've done these Office Max rewards before and it works great. You cannot roll the perks, you have to spend actual money. If you use the perks to buy the stuff, you don't earn more perks on it. Since I don't buy much at office Max, I used my perks to buy an American Express gift card. There is a fee associated with these gift cards, but the ebates I earned offset the fee and made the stuff all free, with free shipping, too.

      • Thecouponpops

So can you use the American Express gift card to pay for more Maxperk items and get the new perks? I'm looking for a way to spend my Maxperks monies on getting more free or close to free Maxperk items. Thanks.

      • Rclay18

I've been doing Office Max Perks for about six months and I've been able to roll my rewards each time. These were the bonus perks (maybe that makes a difference). I bought paper, etc. the first time, then rolled those on backpacks, and then rolled that onto a Kodak printer. I'll get my bonus perks from the printer in November and hopefully roll that onto some Christmas gifts.

    • Lindsey

I thought the rewards did roll. Did they change the policy? I thought I remembered Jenny saying a month or two ago that they did. Can someone clear this up?

      • Mandi

If you go back and read Jenny's 9/7/10 post for Office Max, it clearly states in bold letters that you can roll Office Max perks. I don't see her advertising these deals if you cannot roll the rewards…

        • Thecouponpops

It was my understanding you could roll them but I can't figure out how and there's always the small print….I got burned with Office Depot on this. Veteran Maxperkers, please help us!

          • AhNuld1.4

For about two years I've been using the program to get school supplies after purchasing office equipment for my business. Lately, I've been racking up the points using the OfficeMax MaxPerks Recycling program. (I take 20 toner/ink cartridges per month to OfficeMax and by next month I have $60 store credit.) This past weekend, I purchased a $50 VISA gift card and I used the points to both buy it AND activate it. (YES: NO OUT OF POCKET EXPENSE FOR AN ACTIVATED $50 VISA GIFT CARD … and a Twix bar) Can't beat that for helping the environment monthly. Hope this helps….

            • Amy B.

I have always purchased something slightly higher than the value of my reward. (For example, I have $44 in rewards, so I make my purchase $45) In doing this, I have always been able to roll my rewards, spending just a tiny bit out of pocket each time. Also, I have the teacher rewards account, which is awesome because for every $75 you spend, you get $10 back. I have gotten the $10 bonus when rolling my rewards!

    • Chazzygreeneyes

Im sorry. Im confused. Do I spend the money out of pocket now and then receive credit for the same amount later to use on other products? Sorry, I just dont understand how this all works yet?

      • joyfulcreations

        yes, that's how it works.

    • Emily

Okay, here's my experience. I did this yesterday and rolled some previous rewards points. I had some points earned from the first time I ever did this and bought two bookbags about 3 months ago. I USED my points certificate and EARNED more points for the bookbags. So, I have earned more points even when paying with the certificate from my points. It does work, at least it has now twice for me. You'll get the points for this purchase sometime in the next two or three months.

      • Thecouponpops

Thanks Emily. How did you use your reward points at checkout? I did not see a place to input rewards point monies in the checkout, when I tried to order online. Thanks again!!! :)

        • Emily

You have to log into your Max Perks rewards account online. You should see how much credit you have on the left-hand side. You click on something like view my rewards and there will be a certificate number there and a pin. You use this at checkout online or you print it off and take it to a store to use on whatever you want. Hope this helps. The rewards credits don't appear for a few months, so it depends on when you bought something whether you will have any now or not.

          • Thecouponpops

            Thanks Emily. Worked!!! :)

    • Aly B

I've been rolling my rewards for over a year now. As someone else posted, I usually spend a few dollars over the reward amount and have no problems. This is a great way to give teachers classroom supplies for Christmas gifts! From a former teacher-much better than soap and candles.

    • Thecouponpops

Thanks everyone for the help! I was able to go online and add my Maxperk reward card to the payment option and use the points money towards my purchase of more maxperk free items.

    • Meg

I've new to OfficeMax. I've read through everything I could find and think I have a good grasp on their program.

One question: Do they charge tax on online orders?

      • Mandi

        Yes

    • Susan

can you use more than one rewards card on an online order? i can't see where to enter a second card.

      • Kelleyharold

No, you can only use one online.

    • janice

Just a heads up I'm fighting trying to get my maxperks points from the offer from last month that were offered last . Jenny if you could be of any I would appreciate it I have over 100.00 in maxperks points

    • Ucmba97

LOL, GRIPE is to complain. Grip is to hold tight in the hand. I find the type very funny in this instance. Thanks for the laugh Jenny!!

      • Ucmba97

**Typo** see how easy, except mine isn't as funny.

    • Cblcpa

I don't own a business nor do I homeschool my kids. Can I still sign up for a Teacher MaxPerks card, since mommies are teachers, too? What would you put for “school name” on the sign up screen?

      • Theirmommy2002

That would be dishonest.. If you aren't homeschooling and you aren't a professional teacher, you aren't a teacher.

        • Robyne

have to disagree…as a parent, we are all “teachers” whether it's a formal “homeschool” or not…

          • lowcountry shopper

you know what they mean, that would be dishonest

    • I really like this, it could make an awesome gift for someone. Thank you! :)

    • Great article! I actually received some of this stuff, and was wondering how we could afford it. Makes sense now.

    • Kate

I ordered the pens, pencils, and paper on Monday (Thanks for the info!) and it posted to my MaxPerks account already, but they only gave me 100% rewards credit for the pens and the pencils, not the paper. I double checked and I'm pretty sure I ordered the right paper (#20157722). Is it because I used rewards to buy it? Normally they credit me for everything.

      • Mandi

I ordered the exact same thing and had the same results. I emailed CS and they said there was an issue with the paper and it not being credited to the acct but it should be resolved by now. Mine was taken care of with no problem. I would double check your acct.
