While shopping at the Ingles in Liberty, SC this past Thursday, the cashier told me that Ingles would soon be using a new coupon policy where you can only use 3 internet printed coupons per order. Has anyone heard anything about the change? I've searched their website but do not see a coupon policy. I would love to see their policy as I save so much money at Ingles using all coupons but especially internet printed ones. Should I contact corporate?

      • Mike32570

I don't know but I took the recalled frootloops back to the liberty store and showed them the printout of the recall from the kelloggs website and they acted so nonchalant about it. They told me that they didn't need the printout for me to keep it. I was in there for about 30 minutes shopping afterwards and all the recalled cereal was still on the shelf… Thank you Liberty Ingles for being so concerned about our health…

        • Amber

Not trying to be rude, but they probably did not have all of the info by the time you got there yesterday. As someone who worked in Claims for a large retailer for many years, I can tell you that there is a chain of command to these things.

This recall is not listed on the FDA website that I can find (I could have missed it, though), and it is a completely voluntary recall with very low risk of the consumer being affected. The home office would have gotten a message from their supplier that there was a recall. The home office sends the info to the district office, district to the actual stores via the Claims Clerk. Depending on the store chain's structure, the district office may be removed from that sequence. The recall was issued Friday, and as a general rule most of the people involved in this process were probably not working on Saturday and Sunday. Claims jobs are “office” jobs within the retail industry, and they work basically M-F 8-5 (or similar) hours because part of their job is communicating with vendors who are open during those hours.

Even if the info made it to the store level by Friday afternoon, which email makes possible, it might have came in after the Claims Clerk left for the day. One of the main reasons that I left the industry is the increasing problem that in many stores Claims Clerks are expected to work late on Monday because of the amount of work that piled up over the weekend, or they get reprimanded for leaving any of it undone on Monday night. Then when Friday rolls around, they have to leave early because they are not allowed even one minute of overtime. Management guards the bottom line, bowing to the dollar, and does not realize that they are making the problem worse.

Now, that being said, if the product is still on the shelves when the store closes tonight (Monday immediately following the recall), I'd say you have a very good argument that they are not concerned.

i got a email from ingles corporate and they told me they only accept 2 printables.

      • Juli

I live in a small town and 30 min away there is a publix. Before I knew any different I would shop at Ingles. The only other stores were IGA and Piggly Wiggly. Now there is a walmart, but I can find any good deals at walmart. I just started shopping at publix. They are SOOOO friendly and helpful. I save SO much money, more than at Ingles and I do not go to Ingles anymore. Is there anything else around you????

    • Jackie

The Ingles in Liberty make their own rules as they go. I emailed corporate for a coupon policy. They returned with an emailed copy of their policy. I does not limit the number of internet coupons. I suggest you email them to learn of the change. I will also email them and inquire of the change. I think I will also complain about my local Liberty Ingles. I am horrified to hear about fruitloops still being on the shelf. I would hope Mike32570 will also email corporate.

    • Julie B.

I shop at Ingles in Liberty weekly & have never had a problem with coupons. The manager, Eric Boughman, is more than willing to help out in any way. I would like to know who your cashier was.

      • Katpauz

I live in Liberty too! Nice to meet ya!

    • freya336

I'm trying to find the coupon for the Glad trash bags from the Red Plum 06/06, but I can't find a Red Plum for that date.

Does anyone else from the AJC (Atlanta area) have this issue or is it just me?

      • Jillybean441

I have it from the AJC but not sure from which date…that page fell out of my insert. There is a clorox wipes coupon beside it.

    • Melissa

I live in the Nashville area and my mom lives in the Chattanooga area and we both got coupons for Dukes mayo for .50 off one! Mayo for .98 is a pretty good deal to me!

    • Roriek

$1 off Land o' Frost coupon found in RP 04/25

    • frugalgagirl

While I have to admit that I shop Ingles when there is an unpassable deal (not too often)…I get completely frustrated with them on their coupon policy (or lack of). I actually had a cashier try to tell me that it was illegal for me to use a manufacturers coupon that has a store logo on it in their store. I tried to explain that it was only a suggested store to use the coupon in and even tried to educate the sweet young lady about the bar code differences. I just gave up and left.

    • Julie B

I had a Bi-lo clerk tell me the same thing about a catalina coupon from another store. I usually just trim the store name off to avoid problems if it is a manufacturer's coupon.

    • Julie B

Hi Katpauz. We have probably run into each other since Liberty is such a small town. I love Ingles of Liberty! Sorry to hear so many people are having problems at our store. I am sure the manager will make it right.

      • Lucille Jones

You must be Eric Boughmans wife. LOL What a joke the Liberty Ingles is..

        • Melissa

I'm no relation to anyone in the Liberty store, but since it is the only grocery store in Liberty that is where I do most of my shopping. Sometimes you get a rude cashier, but I have never had them deny my coupons. I just try to avoid the cashiers that I find to be rude.

          • Amanda Turner

The cashier I am referring to has always been friendly and helpful – is always commending me on the deals I get. I will email corporate and get my own copy of their coupon policy, so I'll at least have proof the next time I go in.

    • Stoudenmire

I was in Ingles in Oakwood, Ga today and was told that they will no longer take internet coupons over 50 cents. Has anyone else had this problem?

      • Ellen

Yes. They told me it would not scan so they would not take mine. I took it to Bilo and got Kingsford charcoal for $1.26.

    • Ellen

There is a Lea and Perrins coupon in Sun paper for $2.00 off. It is on sale @ Ingles for 2.08. I got it for .08. Good deal!

      • Heatherandshane

I got the same deal. There was also a mail in rebate attatched to the bottle. So I'll be sending that in earning me a $2 profit.

Well, I ran into the Coupon Police. I had 2 Crystal Light coupons, and 2 Crystal Light packages. One had “Pure Fitness” on the box; the other did not. The coupon had the title “Crystal Light Pure Fitness.” The cashier said I only had one of the items. Then the manager who was bagging told her she could try the other when I said I had another Crystal Light product. It scanned.
