I am in Savannah and did not find ANY coupons in this Sunday’s paper either purchased at the roadside or at Kroger! There were only ads (some with their store coupons or whatever). Does anyone have any thoughts on what I should do or why this might be?

      Thanks!

The coupons typically aren’t available in papers on holiday weekends.

FYI – The Publix at Lake Dow in McDonough,GA has Quaker Instant Oatmeal, not Publix Pasta Sauce as their Penny item.

    • Tina

Any ideas on how to politely request the corporate designated item? I just don’t want to be pushy.

    • Mina

Jaime, on the right hand side of any page of this blog is a section titled “Great Links”. The top one is a link to the insert schedule for the year. That will give you some idea of which inserts to expect in each week’s paper. The week BEFORE a holiday often has lots of q’s. The week AFTER often gets extra inserts, too. For example, on 4/19, the week after Easter, I noticed that my second set of one of the inserts had 4/12 on the spine. The dates are in super tiny font.

Tina, those are basically freebies. I’m happy w/anything! If they DO have the other item in stock, just ask politely at Customer Service. I figure that if they’ve replaced it, there must be a good reason. For instance, oatmeal isn’t exactly a hot seller this time of year. The using that is able to turn over its stock.

I thought I had read on this blog that overage was allowed @ Publix? Am I wrong? Today I went to Publix (saved a ton thanks to this website) :) and had a $1 Kraft BBQ coupon. The BBQ sauce was only .74 cents so the very rude cashier said that I couldn’t use the coupon. Going to Publix.com for their coupon policy, but thanks to anyone for any insight!

FYI- The Hixson (Chattanooga) Publix said today that they received a memo that the stores will no longer be able to honor the penny item without the coupon. I had forgot mine and went by customer service.

The Penny Item for Publix in Summerville SC was for a box of Publix mac-n-cheese!

This is one week when I wasn’t in the store just after 7:0 AM to buy newspapers and verify the mystery item. The past couple of shopping weeks have been exhilarating and exhausting. So many GREAT deals on things that we use a lot. The break was a relief! It seems like I still have a huge amount of shopping to fit in by Tuesday night. It seems easier on me, the cashiers, and the customers behind me to make several smaller trips than to try to do everything in a single huge trip.

Outside of saving $24 by NOT buying papers (and getting to sleep in on a Sunday), tonight I purchased another 10 12 packs of Dr. Pepper, 1 Jumbone pkg, and the pasta sauce for a total of $4.84. I was pleasantly surprised to find 3 cartons of the Dr. P that still had $2/2 peelies on them! (Harbison store). That meant that I could save some of my $1/1 from the insides of the packages that I had cut up before leaving. I got the last of cartons w/peelies, and the last of the cartons w/the $1/1 inside. I don’t feel guilty at all, because I left those cartons there for three days and no one else bought them. My oldest son gave me a huge hug when he came home and saw the stack. That made it worth the effort of cutting up those boxes. He LOVES Dr. Pepper. We now have a one month supply of soft drinks.

Was able to use ALL 3 coupons at my publix…Rite aid $5 off $25, Blooms $10 off $40 and Kmart $10 off $100 for memorial day weekend. I LOVE MY PUBLIX>>>They ROCK! If anyone lives in the Greenville area..it is the Publix at Thornblade. They are the BEST!

      Hi All

I’ve been looking at this site for about two weeks and starting to print coupons. I went to Publix on Sunday and spent $76/saved $74, and today at Kroger spent $21/saved $29. Not as good as the rest of you pros, but not bad for a beginner, either : ) I should have a Rite Aid rebate coming soon, too. Thanks for all the great tips!
