    • Bee

      Oh Wow! Horizon milk coupons!

And there's a good joke on there, too. .20 off Downy…hee hee.

      • Kay

        Exactly!!! lol! (Downy)

        • not liking the new coupons

we can start emailing companies about their coupons i for one will just stop buying many items and just for the generic version save me time as well

    • Hollybeth1974

.20 off…what the heck is that about!

      • justme

I saw that also. I hope that was a mistake. But………coupons are getting smaller in amounts lately.

        • redteapot

I agree, seems you never see many 1.00 yogurt anymore among others. THey are few and far between.

      • redteapot

That one jumped out at me too. Seems we couponers are being snuffed out.

        • Loose lips sink ships.. Too many people are cutting coupons now. Friday night at my Kroger is awful. Everybody is in there with their books full of coupons stocking up on stuff they can't possibly be using in the 4-6 week period before it goes on sale again.

      • Jlaleonard

maybe next month they will put out a .10/2 off coupon! lol

        • Lana

I'm old enough to remember 5 and 7 cent coupons!

    • Jenni P

Judging by the shrinking coupon amounts (Colgate toothpaste as well) I'm thinking that this week is a GREAT week to stock up on as many as possible. Prices are rising, coupon amounts are shrinking, and stores are getting stricter….

    • princess37307

Yeah what is up with the 20 cent coupons they use to be @ least 25 cents off??

    • Couponcutter1

Jenny, I am a new couponer and a dummy! Please explain to me the “Deal” when a store has a Buy 1 Get 1 Free sale and then you have a mfg. Buy 1 Get 1 Free coupon!
I don't know how many to buy, and if and where the price break is! Thanks so much!
      Debbie in Anderson

      • Sam

In GA (and SC, I think), a B1G1 sale means that each item rings up half-price – so, if you use a B1G1 mfg coupon on 2 half-price items, you will pay for just one of them at the half-off price.

In FL, a B1G1 sale means that one item rings up full price and the second item rings up free – so, if you use a B1G1 mfg coupon there, you will get both items for free.

      • Tammya6688

Some stores like Publix have the bogo sales set up to where each item costs half price. Meaning that if a bogo is 2 for $5 that each item is $2.50. You can then buy just one or both. Using a bogo coupon on the deal will mean that by buying 2 that you pay the $2.50 for the first (half price of the 2 for…) and that the 2nd is free. Meaning 2 for the half price or 1/4 price each on both items making them $1.25 each.

      • Mlsnts

Check the store's online circular. Harris Teeter, for example, will specify online if each “buy one get one free” item will ring up half price. If you're paying half price for each item, then your manufacturer's coupon will work with just two items purchased. If the item rings up full price for the first and free for the 2nd, then Harris Teeter makes me buy 4 in order to use the manufacturer's coupon. At other stores, you might pay full price for the first item, get the 2nd item free, and then get a 3rd item free with the manufacturer's coupon. You just have to check their fine print.

      • Heather

It depends on where you live…here in FL, at Publix, Walgreens, and CVS we have true BOGO…meaning that if the item is BOGO on sale and I have a mnf coupon BOGO then I get both items free…best answer – Ask your store :)

    • meme

The coupons that are becoming more common are the ones where you get $ off wyb two or three certain items. This is one way to sell more products. It may wake some of us up to the fact we just go crazy over a coupon instead of considering whether we really need the stuff.

      • Bee

Unless they can be stacked, those coupons are just about useless. I mean, if you're going to buy the item, anyway…but seems to me there's always a substitute out there.

    • Mary

I really do not need to much of the above mention items. I am thinking maybe just a 2 paper sunday, and only because in my database there are 190 coupons expiring tomorow. That includes Ips too.

    • Andrea

Just wondering – is there really Pepperidge Farm Goldfish bread or should that be one or the other – bread or Goldfish? It would be great if it were for the goldfish since they're on sale at Publix!

      • Jluvsmadd

I know that Pepperidge Farms is coming out with bread targeted towards kids that is shaped like goldfish…..

      • Lawsonaba

I “googled” the bread and it's really goldfish bread. It's a flat bread like the deli thins. Kinda cute actually…. :)

    • Christina

I bought 4 AJC's in Gwinnett and someone swiped ALL my coupon inserts. I only received a 4 page Smart Source….that's it. So someone took what they wanted and left a few pages. I was furious and tried to call AJC, but no one will return calls or emails. I HATE the AJC. This is the 2nd time this has happened.

      • Ketta

That happened to me with the Greenville News. Bought 2 papers at a CVS and there were no inserts. I called the Greenville News office and kept calling over and over again until I got someone on the line that understood and was glad to help. It took 2 days and a simple explanation to the right person and the inserts were then sent to my home. I would say keep calling until they know you are serious. It is worth the satisfaction of getting the problem made right.

        • Christina

Thank you!!! I was so frustrated. I mean seriously, ALL 4 papers?? My hubby didn't understand why I was so angry.. I'm like, I didn't need to read the paper 4 different times!! LOL I only buy it for the coupons.

        • Mrh Scott

I Always buy mine on side of the road for $1 so i pull over and check them.

      • m scott

I really think we need to lrt AJC know how we buy these papers for the coupons! it is happening no matter where you buy your papers!

        • Tmroney

This happened to me a couple of weeks ago. Bought 2 papers at Publix in Dacula (Gwinnett) with no coupons. This happened for two weeks in a row. I called the AJC and then e-mailed every person I could find an e-mail address for. I am now getting the paper delivered to me for free for a couple of months. And they did not seem happy to find out that I bought papers for three weeks with no coupon inserts!!! They did call me after I sent all the e-mails. I bought one paper the 1st week that they delivered to me, and the one from Publix again did not have the coupon inserts. So I called and let them know again. One more time, and I'll never buy another AJC. I told them that in no uncertain terms. So they do know this is happening. I think whoever is distributing the papers is stealing the inserts. That's just my opinion. I also HATE the Atlanta Journal !!!! I let them know that I only purchase it for the coupons and so do many other people. Not the way to treat your customers when newspapers and magazines are going out of business at a fast rate!!

          • Sherry

I stand in the store and go through the paper to make sure the coupons are in there! I have found that some people take the paper and walk around the store, take all the coupons out and return it to the front.

          • Bonjour4paris

Maybe the AJC carriers are stealing the coupons, and selling to clipping services!!! because this happened to me at Wal Mart in roswell, the double pack of papers had redplums missing!

          • Guest

I also have had that problem at the Dacula Publix, so I've been driving out to Snellville. It's annoying, but at least I'm getting what I pay for that way.

          • Pwmasdf

I have had so much trouble I've just about quit couponing. I agree. The AJC is terrible-they know it's going on and refuse to deal with it. It's in the distribution system. I think refusing to purchase papers is about the only solution. We continue, they ignore, and the problem is bigger and bigger each week.

      • Amyj

If you are buying the papers personally and not having them delivered check them for the inserts before you buy them. Saves the anger. I had that happen twice before I started checking!!

      • jennearle

Yep this happened to me when I was first starting out. It angered me so much, I just dont understand why people cant be honest about couponing. AND how in the world do you walk into a store and steal just the inserts without someone seeing you!? People are such hoarders. Its these same people who come in the store and take everything thats free or on a really good sale before everyone else gets a chance.

      • Cebartrug

That also has happened to me. Now, thank goodness, our Sunday newspapers are sealed in plastic to prevent ripoffs. You might suggest that solution to your local newspaper distributor.

      • Toni

If you bought the papers at a store, return them for your money back. I have done that several times. Now I look through the papers for the inserts before I buy, or if I buy before looking, I save my receipt and don't leave the store until I've checked, right there on the spot. I know this doesn't help for the past. . .

      • Amber GG

I have written to them and they told me that it is our responsibility to make sure our coupons are in our papers prior to purchasing them. They then offered me a small refund because I kept writing them about this and I still haven't seen hide nor hair of a refund in over a month. Its crap.

      • Lisa

We bought 2 AJC's in Jefferson and they both only had one SS insert per paper. Sent my son out to get an Athens paper and it had the SS and PG. This is the second time that we have bought AJC's that didn't have all the scheduled inserts….I will not make that mistake again….I'm done with the AJC

    • New to This

Hello I am a new comer to couponing. Could someone please please tell me if there will be a class soon in the Orlando, FL area.

      • Birgit Gilbert

click on the workshop tap it shows where the workshops will be and when

      • Birgit Gilbert

there is one in Tallahassee on the 18th, not sure how close that is to you. I live in SC and have never been to Florida

    • Ncmountain

Why bother with P & G items. Their coupons are getting worse everytime a new batch comes out.

    • Jlaleonard

Does it seam like the Grocery coupons are disappearing?

    • Jennscaffeinated

.55/1 Pepperidge Farm Goldfish sandwich bread (exp 6/12)

      0.o really?

    • Jennscaffeinated

      B1G1 Gillette bodywash, max $4.99 (exp 4/30)
Free Gillette bodywash wyb deodorant, max $4.99 (exp 4/30)
$1 off Gillette deodorant (exp 4/30)

Am I wrong, or could I use all three of these for 2 body washes and a deo and only pay $1 less than what the deo is worth?

      • Pamwil88

I have a question about that also. I went to CVS on Monday. I had a Free Gillette body wash wyb deodorant. I also had a $2 off Gillette body wash. I just so happened caught an unadvertised special where the deodorant was $2.69. I did not know if they would take both so I only brought one set of coupons with me. The manager was the one who rang me up, he scanned the coupons and it went through. So after I saw that it was allowing both coupons to be used, I came back two days later and the cashier did it once but when she looked at it and saw that I was getting both for free, she said that I couldn't do it because the body wash was already free. I explained that they had already done it twice so she called the manager and the manager said that you could only use one coupon per item. I explained to him that he had done it previously, why would he deny me now. His response was that he wasn't paying attention. I was under the impression that the B1G1 was used for the deodorant and the other for the body wash, so really I was only using one per item. I called corporate office and explained that they had done it twice and that I did not understand why would they not take it since it was going through the system. I am awaiting a call from the district manager, am I wrong should I have not been able to use both coupons?

        • Marlenecu

If the coupon said free BW when you buy Deo. You could NOT also use the $2 off of the bodywash. The B1G1 coupon was for the BW not the Deo. Using the $2 off would be using 2 man. q for the same product. You could have used a $ off of deodorant if there was one available. They should not have let you use it the first 2 times. If the coupon said buy either and get either free then the $2 off would have been fine. It all depends on the wording on the coupon. Thus with this weeks coupon you can't use both B1G1 for 3 free bodywash. You are buying the deo. not the BW with the first coupon.

        • Kkernea

you did the right thing. an coinstance like that happen to me as cashier. i rang a customer up, and price matched publix for her. and she had coupons for both products. i tried telling her she could only use 1 coupon. my supervisor was standing there, told me she could. we scanned the other coupon, it went thru. i was amazed.

        • Opcworked4me

I was at CVS this week and ask about using BOGO and additional coupons on an item. Shetold me as long as it goes thru it is fine! And it did!

        • shops2much

          win some,,,lose some

        • Momof2boys

I just went to a coupon class with southernsavers.com. Jenny addressed this. You should be able to use to coupons. One for each item. If you had a free Gillette body wash wyb deodorant than you would be able to use a coupon for the body wash & the deodorant. The manq will send the full value for the body wash & the $2 off. I believe I have that right. If it wasn’t right the computer would not have let you the first time.

      • where is the $1 off Gillette deodorant (exp 4/30). I haven't seen that one & would love some to stack with my BOGO Bodywahs

      • Dollface5304

I think it would work, depending on how you give the cashier your coupons. After they ring up all 3 items, hand her the $1 off deoderant, next the B1G1 bodywash….at this point you have paid for one bodywash and $1 off deoderant, finally hand her free bodywash when you buy deoderant. Then you would only pay $1 off deoderant like you thought. Am I correct??? ;) Hope so!

      • Terri

yes it will work, but don't forget to clip out the Green Advantage Flyer coupon for a free grocery bag when you purchase 2 Right Guard products!!!

    • Lori

It isn't worth my time to clip out .20 coupons. This better not be the wave of the future.

you need to check for the stores that offer double the coupon values. and try price matchings. and then you`ll see your savings,

      • shops2much

if I find a dime on the ground I pick it up.. therefore I think any coupon ( especially if it doubles) is great!!!

    • Val

The last few weeks coupon inserts have been terrible. Where are the good food coupons? I'm sick of all these cleaning supplies.

      • Kenzbug

        Amen! I need some food!

        • Kenya

Wish there were more food coupons, but I'm excited about the Similac coupons. Saving on formula really helps.

          • Amen. I don't even buy very many cleaning products anymore. The economy & our budget inspired me to convert to using vinegar for cleaning & now I found that I really like it better than commercial cleaners, regardless of the savings!

      • Kkernea

you need to go to alot of websites different than the coupon blogs. just the other day, i went to freschetta website. i got a dollar coupon off their pizza. and thats just for starters, sometimes you can get more coupons off one website, just off the products they carry.

    • guest

I have only been using coupons since January and I have even noticed that the food coupons have dropped. Im willing to bet that the popularity of couponing has cause the manufactures profit to spike down some. So there answer to that is to limit news paper coupons since it is easy to get those in a mass quantity and switch to ecoupons since they can control the limit on those coupons. We are seeing a lot of fragrances and cleaning coupons more and more because people aren't buying those as much anymore during this bad economy time.

    • mrsmadayar

I know everyone is upset about the decline of coupon values and raggin' on the 20 cent downy q, but let me just say I am ecstatic about the $3 off Pampers box q. I have been buying diapers/pullups continuously for almost 9 years now and it has been a while since I've seen a good one for pampers. I used to get $2 & $3 qs regularly but lately it's $1 maybe $1.50, rarely a $2 and a lot of those require you to buy the wipes along with the diapers.

And if your family doesn't have a need for diapers, just hang on to those qs and watch for a great drug store deal where you can get a pack or two for $3 each and put them in your closet for baby shower gifts or donate them to a good cause.

      • Guest

Agreed. I got a .50 coupon for Pampers a few weeks ago. 50 cents? Please. That doesn't really go a long way for diapers. I think a company like Pampers can afford to put out a higher-value coupon. I prefer Pampers, but I've been getting so many 2.50 off for Huggies that I've been buying more of those lately.

      • nutsy

in order to get the best coupons, you need to go to pampers website. their website might be posted on the pampers pkg. you may have to register with their website for their newsletters, promos&offers to get good coupons. you may have to e-mail them a note on their website, telling them that you use their products alot.

        • mrsmadayar

I registered with them with my first child and I have always kept my personal info up to date with them and then added every baby since then to the profile. I got pretty good mailings with the first two kids, okay mailings with the third, but with my fourth I rarely get anything from them anymore. Maybe I should email them and tell them how long I've been a loyal customer and am upset that I don't get anything anymore. I did email them several years ago to say I had a pack with multiple defective diapers and they sent me a $5 coupon to say sorry, so maybe they would be helpful again.

      • Johanna

Amazon mom all the way! All you have to do is sign up to get a monthly delivery of diapers and you get a 30% discount on diapers and wipes with FREE 2nd day delivery! I just bought a 160 count box of size 4 Pampers Cruisers for $33.89…

    • Toni

Hey, everyone! I found a way to get ALL THE INSERTS. I know many of you have been finding only one insert in your Sunday paper. Me, too, but I just discovered that if I buy two different city's Sunday papers, I can get all the inserts. (Maybe it will work for some of you. Just look before you buy!) For example, I now buy the Citrus Country Chronicle (it now has only the Red Plum insert) AND the St. Petersburg Times (it now has only the Smartsource inserts). The same guy delivers both papers to the stores, so it appears that the same outfit owns both papers and splits their coupon inserts between the two.

      • Christina

Newspapers from larger cities normally have better coupons. I live in Morgantown, WV which is a small college town (Go Eers!) and I am lucky to a coupon in my Red Plum in our local paper ($1.25). I have access to the Pittsburgh Post Gazette ($1.75) and the Baltimore Sun ($2.00). The B'more Sun almost always has over $1,000 in coupons in it. If you are not getting a lot coupons in your inserts or feel you are being shorted an insert try looking in larger city papers. I also always check my newspaper before I check out to make there are coupons in it and someone hasn't removed them.

      • gidget

Also, we were told that in our area, the only way to guarantee that you get the coupons is if you have home delivery – then, if there are any left over, they add them to the papers that go to the gas stations, and then if there are any left over after that, they put them in the ones that go into the machines. So, needless to say, we never buy from the machines – only places that we can check before we buy.

So I'm reading everyone's comments/questions on here and a thought that I've been having comes to mind and so I'm wondering what everyone else thinks. Do you think the new series, “Extreme Couponing” set to begin airing in April on TLC will do more harm than good to couponers like us? Like someone posted on here, it seems like coupons amounts are getting lower, and stores are getting more strict. I'm also noticing a lot more coupons with disclaimers such as “only 4 of like coupons to be used per transaction.” I was excited for the series to begin, but now I'm wondering if it will end up doing more harm than good. Any thoughts?

      • Rikafordavid

I agree, I think the TLC makes the manufacture and stores change their coupon policy and promo. At Vons, now they limit up to 2 coupons to use for the same item. I think sooner or later, we are not going to be able save any money, since a lot of people being exposed with couponing.

      • Bee

You may have a point. I know using coupons is more popular in some areas than others. Most people I know still just apply a coupon or two to the items they always buy, not matching sales with coupons.

I guess the thing to remember is that a store chain's primary goal is to make money…no exceptions. They only try to accommodate the customer to the extent they feel like the customer will stick around and spend more money or come back in the future.

Before the “Extreme Couponing” show, the store managers and execs probably thought people who used a lot of coupons were basically on the fringe and not a huge threat.

The comforting thought about all this is that there are many, many places to buy groceries. That guarantees that there will always be a store trying to beat another store's prices or offer better deals. Coupons or not, we won't be out of luck completely.

I have always thought I would prefer true low everyday prices to having to fool with coupons. Wal-Mart actually did that in the past before they tried other schemes.

It doesn't bother me to shop around. I just returned from Food City (a store I NEVER shop) to pick up .39 canned beans and veggies.

My in-laws have only ever shopped at JCPenney for their clothing (I mean for 40 years now exclusively). But they will shop any grocery store in town to get a deal.

      • Mamaberry

I tend to disagree. It is money set aside by the companies for advertising. They wouldn't print the coupons if it wasn't in budget for them. If they set aside $20K (just a number) for q's in their budget, it's because they have budgeted for that and it works with the profit margin of sales that would accompany the use of those coupons.

However, it may be that because so many are using q's lately they have decided to extend that $20K to include more people. For instance, instead of distributing 20K $1 q's that maybe 10K people are using (just a number of averages that maybe each customer uses 2 – some use one some use 4, etc…) they release 40K $0.50 q's for 20K people to use. Now they are doubling the base of customers to their product line and they haven't used any more budget.

**Numbers just illustrative of course – but you get the idea**

      • Christina

I would imagine the drop in coupon value is the response to the Extreme Couponing series and the rise of afternoon news programs doing stories on couponing and other programs stores run to draw in customers. I know I have seen two stories on couponing in the Pittsburgh market in the last 6 weeks. I would say after the couponing hype is over coupon values will increase again.

      • Janatberry

The coupons are already getting smaller in amount and they seem to be repeats of the some items every few weeks. Nothing much new in the food line and very little food coupons worth anything.I have donated and stocked up on non-grocery items enough to last a while. I have some food items stocked pretty good , but I am not going to get so much that I won't be able to use it all up before the ex.date just to use my coupons. Most papers where I live don't have bu 1 insert now so it's not worth the money to buy extras. I think the new show is going to do nothing but hurt people that use coupons . I believe that's why some stores have quit excepting certain coupons from other stores and have started limiting the amount of coupons we can use on each item. …i use to love going and getting deals but now it seems like more of a hassle trying to get anything…. That's my opinion:) …sorry. I'll get off my soapbox :) ..God Bless you all and happy couponing!!

    • jb30520

I can understand in buying 2 or 3 of that item, but buying 100 like they showed one time, i think is a little crazy. I want to keep things in perspective when using coupons, I have no desire to purchase a 100 boxes of pasta, knowing realisticly that my family could never eat that within a year. I can see wehre some stores may get upset if that happens. Donating or putting in a local food bank and helping others in your community, if you are able to, that would be great.

      • Autofinder2010

I totally agree with you….. I have donated so much food to all the different places…. Plus u get a tax write off…..

      • Linenwolf

You must have been watching those goofy people on the TV show Extreme Couponing. that is not realistic at all and is not what jenny teaches.

    • Corrina

Great! I just got my free Target makeup bag full of samples and coupons in the mail. There is a $1 coupon (Target) for Cover Girl…and then there will be a manufacture's coupon.

    • sleestak

yep, another bad batch! looks like I will be buying only one paper from my hawker again this week.

    • ywardlaw

Is it just me or are the coupons just not what they use to be….. come on Tide $1/2 — use to be $1 for 1?????? Savings are good, but when I'm battling $3.00 for a Sunday paper against the coupons it doesn't add up…. Thanks for letting me vent a little.

    • durhamcouponer

Is anyone else getting only the Smartsource coupons in the Raleigh News and Observer today (no Redplum, no PG)? I called the paper this morning and the guy on the phone wasn't sure whether they shorted me or if they just aren't including these in any of their papers this week.

      • nc_sunshine

I only found the Smartsource in the Greensboro News & Record today, too. I checked 5 other papers (from the bottom of the stack) — all had SS, but no P&G (FYI: I don't believe there was a Redplum scheduled for this week).

    • Ashleyfmcdonald

Did anyone get the Similac coupon? I bought two different papers and did not get in either.

      • Sandraflittle

my paper has both of them in it. $5.00 off & $3.00 off. Nashville, TN

        • Malouya

please email me at malouya@novanthealth.org and let me know how many of these coupons you have and if you wold like to trade. Is there anything you are looking for?

    • kay

there was no inserts here in the n&o in henderson in the 2 papers i bought!

      • Mon

I went to Rite Aid, Kroger, Walgreens and CVS in E. Nashville, none of them have coupons in the paper

        • Sandraflittle

I bought my papers in LaVegne this morning and they had both inserts.

          • Mon

Don't know what going happening on the E. side of the city. The cvs manager had gone through every paper and none had coupons. She was pretty ticked off, and was going to call the paper. Rite Aid manager was also not happy about it. Hopefully it resolves soon, don't really want to drive to LaVegne for the paper!

      • Rachellaurenray

I bought 3 papers at a store today… there were no coupons in them! The cashier at the store said that there's a woman who comes by and takes them out!! How rude!!

    • Tantae

I started looking at the preview of listed coupons a few weeks ago after I bought 2 papers which had no coupons I could use.I opted to buy only 1 paper this week since the coupons aren't great.I wonder if things would change if we stopped buying papers?…companies would begin to lose money if we didn't use coupons……

    • d3joree2000

I didn't get the Zegrid coupons…..Boy I was looking forward to those too…

      • kp

Go to Southern Savers Traders group and post what you are looking for. We got them in Greenville so I'm sure you will be able to trade coupons for them. Its a way to get the coupons you didnt get in your area.

    • Lisa

Just wondering if anyone received all three inserts that were susposed to be in this weeks paper

    • meme

Just a comment about Extreme Couponing show. I think for many (as I noticed about myself after a few months) couponing has become an addiction. If someone buys 100 boxes of pasta and they don't have ten children or run a daycare facility, there is a problem there. I know many people say they donate and that is wonderful. It does leave out the regular family shopper from getting their share of food for their own family (say four to six boxes).

As Jenny recommends, the sales do come around again. Everyone can stock up again for five to six weeks. The food stays fresher. And the frenzy of buying much for a small price stays in check.

I live close to two large flea markets so I can attest to the fact that much is winding up for resale. This is bothersome to me as I use my gas to shop for my family, have to remember to get rainchecks and then have to remember to use them when I return to the store. A lot of hassle for me.

Just had to express my feelings a little this morning. I do feel the show will encourage more greed.

    • Coupon Newbie

I did not get P&G which I thought was supposed to be there, I bought 3 papers. None of the papers had P&G.

    • Just FYI for those in the Florida Times-union area (Jacksonville Florida). I bought a paper that had only one of the two inserts. I get one delivered also, and it had both, so I knew it should have 2. I called and they said it would be mailed to my home within the next 2-3 business days. No hassle. I am very happy.

    • Cakegirl513

Did anyone get the $2.99 Sears Portrait Studio Coupons? I am in need of one, and everywhere in my little town was sold out of papers on Sunday mid-morning.

Also, is there a website where you can order the inserts only? I heard someone talking about that, but I would like to know if anyone has tried it. Is it worth it?

      • kp

Go to the Southern Savers traders site and post what you are looking for. The Greenville area did get this coupon.

    • smaks

Does anyone have a good source to buy P&G inserts?

    • mary

I bought double editions and one paper in each double edition had the P&G insert and the other did not….makes me angry :|
