So, as you might be able to guess from the title, this is going to be an interesting one.

I think that one of the coolest things about saving money is being able to have more money to share and bless others!  And so I proudly present “The Giveaway Giveaway”.

I will pick one winner from the comments below, but you won’t win something for yourself.  Instead you will win a chance to choose someone else to win something.

What is the prize, you ask?  Well, I am not going to tell you (this just gets better and better all the time, doesn’t it?).

To Enter:

Tell me the best gift you have ever received. ( Then maybe go tell that person who gave it to you “thank you”!)

I’ll announce the winner and the prize on Thursday 7/29.

    • Karebear7006

Best gift: definitely my engagement ring from my husband. It is not too big and not (at least in my humble opinion) too small. I love it.

      Karebear7006@yahoo.com

    • Candiceburnham

Not trying to be corny, but my daughter for sure! Candice Burnham candiceburnham@gmail.com

The best gift I have ever received was from our oldest son Tyler. He has been a Marine for 4 years and on his second of three deployments he sent my husband and I the most moving and beautiful letter a parent could pray for. He told us how much we each mean to him and tells us that so many things we did with him and for him growing up will be a blessing for the rest of his life.
Ty is married and has the most precious wife, we are truly the blessed ones having them as our children.
I would love to share the whole letter with you if you would like.
      Sandy sskipper11@cfl.rr.com

Hmmm- best gift ever was the necklace that my husband gave me the day before we got married- he had diamonds from both his grandmother's rings made into a custom necklace! It made me cry!!

      • Urstill

Okay, I love it and ever so true is it that my spouse and 4 healthy children are indeed the best gifts. There are SOOOO many blessings in my life and I am truly grateful. It is challenging to come up with just 1, however, there is a gift that I did received that shocked the monkey out of me. I’ve been blessed to be a domestic engineer now for 11 years – that birthday of my oldest child represents the significance of how God provides. There was a period of about 4.5 years where I helped people get out of debt with a ministry called FaithFull Family Finances. As a local rep, I was honored to be able to lay foundations of biblical and practical principles before many individuals, families and organizations. A family friend decided to allow me to come in and minister to he and his wife and they to this day speak of how much what I shared and help them with blessed them. I remember having to separate friendship and business and just placed before them the word of God then gave them a written plan of action. I had mentioned to them that I was believing God for a laptop so that I can travel with it to help make my business more efficient and more time friendly. I remember them probing times later out of sessions and as friends with business laid aside. Then one day just out of the blue, I received a delivery of a brand new 17″ Dell laptop with full 24/7 warranty for the following 4 years until 5/2011. All the questioning that I thought was helping them decide on something for them turned out to be a blessing for me too. I no longer am apart of that company thanks to my 3 year young twins however, those principles live within me. My faith is big, much bigger than a mustard seed, and God has always been faithful. We put Him first at best. Now I thank Him for my next two faith levels and am patiently waiting for their manifestation-2006 or better Honda Odyssey (low miles) and a paid in full house (what is $61,000 to Him). You know, really the gift of Jesus dying on the cross so that all of my sins might be forgiven is the BEST GIFT OF ALL!

Wow that's a good question…..My favorite gift would have to be an antique book my best friend from high school gave me 19 years ago. It's a small hardbound copy of Macbeth. I was a Shakespeare freak and expert in school. We grew up and moved away to college and hardly seen each other and the first Christmas we were back together she got me the book. There is an inscription inside that says, “To Ida Mae, From Claude. Christmas 1906.” It is one of my most cherished possessions!

I recently reminded her of that and told her I still had it and it had become the center of an antique book collection I have now and even after all these years it made her day to know that.

    • Tara

My favorite gift…my Kitchen Aid stand mixer!!! I know! It is not the typical gift you want your hubby to give you BUT it brings me so much joy and relaxation! I love to make cakes. I have lost count of the birthday cakes I have made for my friends' children!!! It's the gift that keeps on giving!!!

What a great giveaway! I think the best tangible gift I've ever received was new furniture just 2 weeks ago from my husband. It was a complete surprise and makes me feel so pampered! The best intangible gift ever was the love and help from friends last summer. I went through some major medical issues in the midst of moving. Several friends, including two very special ones, took care of my children, made meals, packed my home, cleaned, visited me in the hospital and helped my family stay sane in the midst of amazing obstacles. I would LOVE to honor one of them!!

    • Anniemccloud

Was the gift of my three kids. We adopted them and we got them with four hours notice. My husband is an amazing husband and father and really deserves a prize. He works so hard for us both work and home.

    • Mom2teenagers

My husband was always terrible at picking out jewelry for me but he surprised me with the most beautiful pearl necklace and earrings when I was pregnant with our first child. These will be handed down to my oldest daughter.

    • Kyleandmadison

The best gift I received was my Pandora bracelet I received on mother's day. Now my children and family members can pick out charms that have a special meaning.

    • A Winnie the Pooh cookie jar from my aunt. She bought it when I was little (so I could eat cookies out of it, of course) and she gave it to me one year for Christmas when I became an aunt :)

    • Jenn

      love this idea.
I think the best gift was the outpouring of love & support after we lost our infant son in 2007.

    • The best gift I have ever received was an American Girl Doll. My best friend knew that I always wanted one and gave Addy to me for Christmas.

    • Michelle Z

How can i choose one – the gift of salvation, a believing husband, wonderful church, two of the sweetest girls ever. Depending on what the gift is, i think two of the counselors at our church might be wonderful recipients.

    • Salderman24

My life, God blessed me with more than I could ever deserve :)

    • My husband always gives me great gifts. He listens to what I say a few weeks before and gets me stuff I'd never buy but randomly mentioned I need. He bought me an awesome new blow dryer and I forgot I said I wanted one so it was a great surprise! He also got me a necklace with our kids birthstones for Christmas. That was the best!

    • Karen Logan

The best gift I ever received was that someone arranged for a moving truck and movers when I needed to move a month ago and this person paid for everything! The movers were 117 dollars an hour and it took us about 5 or 6 hours to get everything loaded and moved. I had already packed everything but we also had to deal with a thunderstorm during the move. So I am immensely grateful for this sacrifice on my friend's part!

    • Mary Ann

My favorite gifts are charms for my Pandora bracelet.

    • Karenleto1

The best gift I ever received was my children…I have been so blessed to have 4 happy healthy children. My husband passed away last year, and just looking in the faces of my little ones, and seeing him, helps me get through the day…Thank you my love, for the gift of sharing their lives…

    • Itsasweetlife

The gift of life….I am thankful to my earthly parents and tn my Heavenly Father…

    • Cindy

It's really hard to determine the best gift, but I guess if I had to pick, I would say the diamond engagement ring my husband surprised me with on my 21st birthday! It was the most romantic gift! Every year on my birthday, I am reminded of that wonderful day! Tomorrow, July 27th, it will be 8 years ago that my husband proposed to me with this beautiful ring. He is the most wonderful man in the whole world and I love him with all my heart.

    • Debi

I was unable to have the children I knew I was supposed to have. Thanks to the most amazing people ever, I now am blessed beyond belief with my precious children. These people were, and are, a Godsend!

    • RS

      Salvation

    • Mlbwatz3

The best gift my family has ever received is the boarder collie mix my parents gave my son for Christmas 9 years ago. She brings so much joy to the whole family (especially me).

    • Snieves0607

The best gift I ever got was from my husband when he bought me my Claddagh ring and gave it to me the day before we married. I had made mention to him about always wanting one when we were dating, so one day I could pass it along to my daughter. Never thinking in a million years that he would remember that because let's face it most men don't listen to what their wives/girlfriends are saying. Well at our rehearsal dinner he pulled this ring box out of his packet and gave it to me and I cried like a baby. That was also when I knew he was not like most men and ten years later he still remembers all those “I wish…” things and constantly keeps me on my toes!

    • Bamamomsings

Well I have no idea what the prize is, but I want to give it to my brother, Scott. He's having surgery on Thursday to remove a brain tumor. It's a risky surgery. I just think it would boost his spirits to know that I won something for him. I don't have anything to give him, except I will be there for his surgery. This isn't a lie in order to get sympathy… it's true…I promise. If needed, you can research it. So please pick me! :)

    • Kelly H

My daughter was the best gift I ever received. I was told in 2001 that I had severe endometreosis and would probably never be able to have children. My bible study grouped prayed for me for more than 2 years to conceive. In 2006, my precious angel was born! 8 lbs 7 oz, we almost lost her in delivery, but God delivered her to us, healthy & happy!

    • Awbeare

one of my favorite gifts was a “thinking of you” card my mom sent me when I was feeling down on myself. She also included “a little piece of money” to take the kids for ice cream. She is so caring and always knows what I need to lift my spirits! My mom is amazing and deserves her own prize!

    • jessica

    • Pachu77

the most used gift thus far, is my flip mino camera. It is so portable it fits in my back pocket and I have captured so many goofy moments of our toddler, husband and my immediate family. I did not think I would enjoy it thuis much, and it is so easy to share online and burn into a dvd.

    • Jennifer

My aunt who has had two bouts with famale Cancers is offering her DNA for genetic testing so that my mom, myself and my three daughters can be tested for the same cancer genetic mutation. It's a very expensive ($4,000) process and she is on a very fixed income. I am so appreciative of her willingness and self-lessness that I cannot even express it how greatful and proud I am of her. This will clearify for the youth of our family their paths ahead with early detection and hopefully save lives! We have already lost so many family members to this horrible disease! So, God Bless my aunt for her help!

    • Sassygirl

Salvation, my husband, my parents, and my church are my favorites.

    • Kaminer317

the best gift i ever got was having a wonderful mother…though she has been gone for 6 years now, she had the greatest impact of any human being on my life!

    • Beth

Ok, this may be not the best gift EVER (that's quite a title!), but about a year ago someone sent me a letterpress print that I had posted on my blog. I said how much I loved it, and a few days later it showed up in my mailbox anonymously! I still don't know who gave it to me, but I smile every time I look at it. Someone was so kind & thoughtful. The print means so much more than it would've had I just bought it for myself.

It's great to get things, but it's even greater to give things — I really mean that. I would love to win whatever this is and give it away! What a fun idea. :)

    • Cvandever

The gift of life. – Not as corny as it sounds. I am an asthmatic and my mother saved my life using CPR two times in my childhood. My doctors said I wouldn't survive past 10 years of age. But I just got to celebrate my 12 year anniversary with my husband at the ripe old age of 32. And we have decided to adopt a child. So I thank God for my life, my mother, my family and my salvation.

    • MOMOFTWINS2006

My best gift ever would have to be my twin daughters. They were born Aug 2006 and I can't even remember life without them. Children make the world go round and they are my life and the best gift ever!

    • Linda

The best gift that I ever received was a painted footprint of my oldest child with a poem beneath it. I absolutely love memorable pieces of my children's artwork, and this one reminds me of how small my son used to be!

    • meeyeehere

The best gift I was ever given was a little pink suitcase that a friend gave me. She was not even really a friend but someone that I exchanged gifts with and someone I saw at parties but that pink suitcase was so wonderful and came in handy and when I looked at it,it gave me a good feeling like I could go somewhere or do something.
Thank you for this giveaway, you give me a good feeling too.

My first home, a gift to myself…..my own place to do with as I wanted. I worked hard for this gift to myself and was so proud of it. I love to give someone else a special gift!

    • Teach_ashlee

The best gift ever would have to be…everything my parents have taught me throughout my life all wrapped up together. Because of them, I learned how to be a wife, a mother, a hard worker, an educator, etc, etc, etc.

    • wishfulthinking

My grandfather gave me a cake on my sixteenth birthday. It was covered in beautiful pink roses and was a total surprise. Our family never made a fuss over birthdays and I'm sure this is the first bakery cake I ever had. It was such a surprise and so pretty and just for me. I can't thank him as he is long gone, but I'll never forget it or that sweet little man!

    • Paigecoupons

20 years of dance classes from my parents. Now I get to teach!

    • Mindy Denton

The best gift that I have ever received was my Nikon camera from my Mom! It has captured so many special moments with my family and friends. I cant put the thing down when there is a child (especially mine) around because I am scared that I will miss that perfect picture. My mom is with me now (I told her thanks again) at the hospital waiting on my niece to come into this world. I have my camera ready for a picture of our little miracle!

    • Heather

The gift of salvation – given straight from God the Father through His Son Jesus Christ!

    • Amber

The best gift I ever received was cash, from my uncle, for graduation. Because of his and his family's generosity, I was able to travel to Mexico for four months and basically transform my entire outlook on life, career, “growing up”, etc. It gave me the freedom to think about life and make some choices.

    • Sarah

The gift of salvation. Christ took my place in an amazing display of love and gave me the righteousness it takes to stand unashamed before God.

    • needagift!

I have 2 best gifts — the first was my dog, whom I love and adore and is the most wonderful companion. And the second was a week long cruise to the Eastern Caribbean with some loved ones.

    • kellib

My husband gave me an evening away at a bed and breakfast in the mountains. It was wonderful!

    • Jasmene Herring

My husband knows my joy of reading. It is usually the only time I ever have for myself. He gave me a Sony E-Reader 2 years ago and I am never without it. I love my gift so much. My husband just does not know how much it means to me.

    • sarahrosemac

The best gift I was ever given was my parents paying off my car for my 25th birthday!

    • Carla Hardy

The greatest gift I have ever received is the gift of life, it doesn't have a price tag on it, so I don't know if it will qualify. In 2006 I was in a coma for 3 months and was only given a 10% chance of living…..my gift came from my family and friends who were with me almost every hour of the day and most nights. The support I received and the prayers I received gave me the greatest gift of all. I have recovered with some small problems that linger, but am thankful that I am alive. So there isn't just one person who gave me the greatest gift, but many. I give back to them by hosting a Christmas Party every year and they gave me (since I was in a coma Christmas 2006 and couldn't have my party)an upside down tree that they all brought ornaments to put on it. It is my greatest treasure of all material things because it came from the heart, some of the ornaments are bought and some are hand made, but I love them all. Every year when I put it up, I cry.

    • Adrienne

This past weekend, my husband and toddler sons stayed at a condo for FREE! One of the students that my husband works with wanted to bless us, so he gave us a condo for the weekend in TN. We didn't pay a dime, and my boys had a ball! One day, I hope to be in a position to bless people just because. I know it's coming as we are “gazelle intense” in paying off this debt in order to do it. In the meantime, we are giving the “small things” to say thank you :).

    • BI

The best gift I've received was my dad taking a special flight home, he was in the Navy away at sea, to make it home for my birthday because he had promised to be home for my birthday when I was little. I knew whatever he promised from then on, he'd do no matter what. Can't think of a better present from a great dad!

    • Ncfilmgirl23

The best gift I ever received was time with my Auntie Helen (my Grama's sister). I've been ill for a long time, and since my Auntie lived 5 hrs away, I wasnt able to see her often at all. Having had to miss the last family vacation due to my health, I had a small window in September 2009 of feeling well, and took full advantage. Mom drove us up there and the 3 of us spent a glorious week together. My Auntie Helen passed away this last Thanksgiving, and I thank God each day that I had this opportunity and was gifted with the time to be with my beloved Auntie one last time.

    • Magiemunch

The best gifts I have received are the thank you notes from my students. They make me feel valuable. Most of all, I keep them for the days I feel like a horrible just to remind me that I do have my good days too!

    • Laurie

What a wonderful idea! I've always wanted to surprise my neighbor with something different to thank them for always being there when needed. They ask nothing in return and do so much for us.

      • Laurie

Follow up to my comment about my neighbors. Helping us out without wanting anything in return has always been the best gift we've ever received.

    • erincolleen

The best gift I ever received was the gift of life from my parents and God working together, and then the gift of Baptism in which I became part of Christ from my parents and God, and finally the gift of my husband from my husband and God. Of course all good things come from God and He allows us to work with Him in giving them! Deo gratias! :-D

    • Jan

The best gift I have ever recieved was the gift of my family, and I thank God everyday to have been so blessed.

    • Mmitchell140

The best gift I can remember is a beautiful sapphire and diamond ring that my husband gave to me on our first christmas. It was special because he picked it out himself and I knew that it came from the heart.

    • Allyg24

i collect cookbooks. so when my grandma died my mom gave me her cookbook that she hand wrote the family recipes in. it's so nice b/c there's also pictures in it that my grandma drew. i plan on copying the pages so everyone in my family can have their own.

The best gift I ever received was my family. God knew exactly what I would need and want before I even asked. And yes, I have countless times thanked the Giver! My cup runneth over!

    • Tstubbs80

The best physical gift I ever received was from my parents when I was 13. I have always loved Gone With the Wind. The Ballet of Gone With the Wind came to Sc and my mom and dad heard me talk about it for weeks. On the day of the performance, I saw it on the news and was kind of sad bc I knew we did not have money to go. It was then that my mom and dad told me to get dressed because they had worked a few things out so that I could go with my mom. After the performance, my mom bought me a poster that I was able to get signed. I know we did not have much money but it was the most special gift I rember getting.

    • talljennr

The best gift I ever got was a car from my aunt on my 16th birthday, so awesome!

    • Paratip67

The best gift someone has given me was a cake that my husband and my daughter made when my daughter was 2. Though you wouldnt think, it actually tasted good thanks to Betty Crocker.

    • Lisa

My best gifts have always been those of time together. Whether it is tickets to an event, or simply a walk through the park…I love surprises like this from my husband.

    • Jennifer Campbell

I know it sounds trite, but the best gifts I've ever received are my two sons. I'm so blessed that God chose me to be their mother!

    • Sandra

My husband took a tv tray and added a photo college to the top. Lots of pictures of our life together. He took a lot of time to do this and I love it!!! It was definitely one of the best presents I have ever received.

    • julie men

My favorite gift was for Mother's Day. My husband and kids gave me a wall portait of our two sons together (ages 4 and 6). It is my favorite picture because it truly shows their individual personalities. I hung it in our family room so I can see it everyday and smile!

    • Kristi

God has blessed my family richly which is the gift that truly keeps giving. I would say that one of my favorite gifts that hold special value to me is a “Daddy Blanket” that my mom made me. My father passed away when I was a little girl and it took years for my mother to decide what to do with his clothes, so finally she took them out of the attic and decided to make my sister and I both quilts made from his clothes. She cross-stiched on the corner “May you always be wrapped up in your father's love”. Pretty special. My family is AMAZING!!

    • Amber

After my grandmother's passing I received her bible as a gift from my grandfather. This is the same bible she took to church with her every week. I love this bible and wouldn't trade it for any amount of money in the world. I miss her dearly and love having this because I know how much it meant to her.

    • Jeannie

The best gift(s) I've ever received are those sweet “hand-made” items given to me by my children. I LOVE when they take the time to make something with their own two hands that I can cherish for a lifetime!

    • Stampinblue2

A kitchenaid stand mixer from my hubby!

    • Nikki

My 2 sons are the best gift I have ever recieved. Better than all the coupons or samples or cars or jewelry in the world! We may not have much but we have each other, therefore ALWAYS rich!

    • motherof3nc

Probably the day my last daughter was born on 2004, having a bonus baby at 45 was no easy task (natural birth) with all the complications that could have occured due to my age she was Healthy! My husband and older daughters were my ROCK…BEST present I could ever ask for!

    • Bjessa

My doula gave me her services for free! She was amazing! Couldn't make it through a 24 hr natural birth without her! I would love to give her a thank you gift!

    • Melissa

My son and husband are the best gifts I have ever received, but the most thoughtful gift I have ever received wasa quilt made by my aunt when my son was born. She made a quilt for my son and was able to use my grandmothers pajamas on it. My grandmother passed away before my son was born, but I felt as though she was watching over him through the quilt.

    • elizabeth

The best gift I ever received is when God blessed me with my sweet husband! I know its cheesy, but true!! :)

    • I have to say my son. It was a miracle that we were able to have children and it was a miracle we both survived the delivery.

    • Danae

The best gift I ever received was probably when I was in college. Some of my closest friends were deployed and between the deployment, getting mono, and the stress of school and work, I was having a rough year. I talked to one of the guys online pretty frequently and even though his stress was probably much greater than mine, he bought me a gift certificate for a full day at the best spa he could find. We were really just friends at the time and he supposedly had no interest in me. Who would've thought we'd be married two years later? :) It was a really thoughtful, no strings attached, generous gift.

    • Vivixen

My husband gave me my engagement ring when I was 7.5 months pregnnt with our daughter and wrapped it in a baby's blanket and read me a poem that went:

In this blanket we will wrap a beautiful baby of our own
She will be precious and beautiful and a joy to behold forever
We will Cherish and love her and be forever proud parents

In this blanket I have wrapped a beautiful ring of your own
It is precious and beautiful and a joy to behold forever
I promise to love and cherish you
And be forever your proud husband

I still cry when I write or read this…he is my angel!

When my husband and I had been married 20 years, he was in seminary and w/o an income. Despite that, I got a beautiful ring with five diamonds in it, each one representing 4 years of marriage. When I cried opening the gift (partially b/c I knew we didn't have money for such an expensive gift)he wiped my tears and reassured me that everything was OK and it was paid for. A few days later I came to find out that he had sold some coins from his modest little collection to buy the ring. The coins had been given to him by a cousin who was in the Merchant Marines when my husband was a young boy, so they were even more special because of the family connection. It was one of the sweetest things he has ever done for me.

    • Brenlong79

The best gift I have ever recieved is my husband. I was 17 years old and I was on a path to NO WHERE. I was a rowdy teenager looking for trouble. I met him and he opened my eyes to me destroying myself. I fell in love with him because I realized I was important and he loved me for me and not what he wanted me to be. I have never been so loved and blessed. We have been married now for 13 years and three beautiful girls. I've never met another man like him. He goes above and beyond for not only our family but in everything he does. He's a great man. That's the best gift God has given me. I now have him and three girls. Truely Blessed.

My birthday is exactly two weeks after my son's. When he was born, all of my family, including myself, have forgotten about my birthday. Yep, totally, completely, all-the-way forgot – we were so busy with the baby. So finally my husband remembered, and the best gift was going out with him that night. We never valued time together before kids. That night was so special because we realized that every minute together counts. We went out to our favorite restaurant, and walked in the night.

    • "SUE"

I received a hankie from my Mother that was my Father's with the monogram “B” on it right after he passed away. It was it my job to iron them when I was a child. My name also starts with a “B”. I will always treasure it. I wish I could thank my Mother but she died shortly after my Father did.

    • Sandy565

The best gift I have ever received was the unconditional love from Jesus Christ.

    • Debbie

The best gift I ever received was hand made gifts from my Sons and Hubby. They mean so much to me!

    • Jen

How fun! This best gift I ever recieved was my daughter! Such a fabulous Christmas present! :-)

    • Adpharr

A diamond necklace from my husband while we were still dating.

    • Katherine

The best gift I ever received was a college graduation gift from my parents. I minored in Anthropology during my undergrad, and I learned so much from my favorite Anthro professor that when the opportunity came up to go on a study abroad AFTER graduation, I begged my parents to let me go as my graduation present. Long story short, I spent a month living in the Czech Republic (mainly Prague, but we travelled all over the country), getting to know the country, the people, and living like a “native” Czech. The experiences I had and the lessons I learned were 100% unforgettable, and have changed the way I look at the world today. These experiences have even influenced my views of education (I'm in grad school to be a teacher), and inspired me to instill in students an appreciation for the larger world. That trip was over three years ago and I still dream of Prague at least once a week. So, thank you to my parents, for the best, most life-changing graduation present ever.

I'm a photographer, yet rarely take time to photograph my own family or print any images for our own home. For Mother's Day, my husband had a huge canvas print made of our family – FINALLY…one of MY favorite images preserved for generations. He took so much care choosing just the right picture of us, and I felt so cared for.

Apart from salvation through Jesus Christ, my loving husband, and precious son, I have to say the greatest gift I've received was from a friend who prayed with me, visited me, and encouraged me to give up my career and stay home with my son. On top of that, she's continued to encourage me and teach me how to cook and be a good wife and mother. When we moved across town recently, she drove 45 minutes one way for two weeks to watch my son while I packed and to help me pack. She helped make meals for us at that time, too. Then, when we were finally able to move into our new home, my husband had to be out of town. She proceed to be by my side, helping me with my son, while I had to be working with repairmen and movers, and she practically cleaned the house while I was dealing with all such matters. She has shown me over and over again what it is to give and love unconditionally as Jesus Christ would have us do. The amazing thing – I'm not the only one she loves so generously! She truly has an incredible God-given passion for others and their salvation…and she hardly ever, if ever, does anything for herself and that's what would make it so exciting to be able to give her a “prize.” (Especially since she won't let me give her anything of substance, since she knows our limited budget.) Thanks for offering this opportunity, Jenny.

    • Beth

One of the best gifts was from my husband on my 35th birthday. He sent my best friend and me to NYC for the weekend to see all the Christmas decorations. It was perfect!

    • Bellesmama

Every “I love you, Mommy” from my little girl is a better present than the last.

    • stacey

A family member introduced my to Southern Savers which has enabled me to save thousands since Sept 09. Those savings has allowed us to gifts to charities from extra free purchases, provided us with food on the table and has now given us extra money. I have now passed this gift on to many people and this is truly the gift that keeps on giving. Thanks

    • Jen

When I was about six we were living in Central America. My mom, sister, and I had gone back to the states to visit at Christmas. I really wanted a cat that year and when we got into the car at the airport a kitten crawled out from uder the seat.

    • Laura

The best gift I have received was a picture drawen by my daughter when she was 7 and she is now 13 of our family and she made notes of what she liked about her brothers and sisters and each person. She shared her heart and gave me something special that was the best gift.

    • JenniL

My daughters are my best gift ever!!!!!!

    • Carly

The best gift ever has got to be my engagement ring from my husband!

    • best I ever got was my house!

    • TerriM

I much rather give than receive. I love the look on someone's face when they get a present they love. My favorite was when I made my husband a scrapbook for him on our little girl's first father's day. He cried. Every once and awhile he'll still glance at it. It makes me happy to know that I did that for him.

    • Ellen

Best gift hands down is my hubby and 2 kiddos, but as for “stuff” I would say one of the favorite gifts I have ever received is a picture collage made by my hubby and kids. They put a lot of creativity and time into something that will be treasured for a long time!

    • Lisa

One of the best gifts I ever received was a complete surprise 40th birthday party from my husband. I had ZERO clue!! Everyone was there – friends, family, work folks and much more. Turns out he stole my Palm Pilot and emailed everyone. LOL!!

    • Kimberly

The best material gift that I ever received (outside of salvation, a loving family, and a child) takes me back to my 8th birthday. My family didn't have a lot of money and I was aware of that fact so I didn't ask for anything specific. I was stunned when I received a new bicycle with a banana seat. I had an older style bike that had many miles on the tires. Little did I know that it was actually my bike with a facelift. My parents had painstakingly given it a new paintjob (yellow and white stripes), gotten a new seat and replaced the pedals. I got soooo many miles out of that bicycle playing Charlie's Angels with my neighborhood friends, popping wheelies, and riding with no hands. I realize how many hours my parents invested in lovingly refashioning my old bike using my favorite colors. Summer reminds me of that sunshine yellow bicycle and spending all day riding it.

    • CalebnCoysMom

The best gift I ever received were my children (4yrs and 2 yrs). After 7 years of trying to conceive and two miscarriages later, I was able to give birth not once but twice. They have been blessing and enriching my life ever since!

    • Susan

Moving from Michigan to NC to be near my family! Of all the places my husband could have moved for his job, he chose my hometown. What a blessing!!!

    • Aisha

I had worn glasses and contacts since I was in grade school and when I turned 30 my brother and sister paid for me to have corrective laser eye surgery.

    • Brandy

Obviously, to pretty much everyone on here, the best gifts aren't things at all. For me, love and forgiveness are the best gifts I've received and thankfully receive on a daily basis. But since it's fun to read what everyone's best material gift is, I'd say my best gift has to be my engagement and wedding rings.

    • christy

this one easy, free and clear: salvation!!!!!! very cool contest!!!!!!

    • Lkrueger68

My 3 children are my best gift ever!!! Then southernsavers!!!

    • Emily

The best gift I have ever received is the gift of salvation through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ!

    • sarahinNC

Of course my husband and our 3 precious kids would be the answer! But besides them:

When my husband sang “When a man loves a woman” to me at a Karaoke place overseas on our recent missions trip (the place's speakers blasted to the whole fishing village). Despite his not being able to carry a tune and being somewhat shy, he still sang away with all his heart, meaning every word. It meant SO much to me; I'll never forget it!

    • Ec_pelkey

After the birth last child, my husband presented me with a mother's ring with all of the family birthstones. I love it!!!

    • April

The best gifts I have ever received are the little things from my husband. From flowers for no reason, to making dinner on special occasions, it is these things I cherish most.

    • A A Danaila

The best gift I ever received was tires for my car. Five years ago, I was very tight on money and needed new tires on my car very badly. My grandfather surprised me with them!!!

    • Sarah Nichols

I have loved Celin Dion since I was young and have always wanted to go see her in concert. Tickets were going on sale shortly after I gave birth to our little girl and I so wanted to go. I asked my husband in that nagging little way that women sometimes have and he said I couldn't go by myself but he didn't want to go, so I gave up the idea. At the end of that year at my birthday he surprised me with tickets for me and him to go. I was so excited, I couldn't believe he got me tickets and was willing to go. We had a blast.
P.S. she is GREAT in concert

    • Kerry

The best gift I have ever received was from someone I have never met! I am a cancer survivor and during my treatment I had to have a stem cell transplant. Because none of my siblings were perfect matches I was put on a donor list and had to wait to be paired with a perfect match from an anonymous donor. I was matched with a young male living in Germany. He generously gave his stem cells to save my life and because of his selflessness I have been cancer-free for over a year!! The best gift one can give is the gift of life!!

    • Ceschliman

The best gift I ever received was my Peridot pendant from my husband for mothers day last year…. THAT I LOST:(

    • Bchapman1

Life's challenges have to be the best gift I have ever received. With out them I wouldn't be the wife/mother/daughter/friend/sister I am today. These challenges have pushed me to go beyond what I ever thought I could.

    • Kim

The BEST gift was my son, I shouldn't have been able to have any children, a true blessing.

But the best “gift” given to me was two quilts, one given by my grandmother, one given by my husband's grandmother. Both very very special. My husband's grandmother passed away almost two years ago, and mine is very near the end of her time on this earth. I can't tell you just how much those quilts have meant to me…

    • Kristy

The best gift I have ever received is my son, Paxton, who was born 5 months ago on an extremely snowy night. But the most wonderful material gift I've been given is the beautiful watch I'm wearing right now. My husband surprised me for my birthday this year, and I nearly had a stroke when I opened up the box!

    • Harman Jessica

my new camera my husband surprised me with this past Christmas. He had been saving up for it for the past several months…a real sacrifice at the time since money was extra tight. I was in tears…mainly for his thoughtfulness. And our old camera was on its last leg.

    • ddflamingo

The Lord knows just what I need and when I need it!! Can't ask for more than that!! :)

    • Emmayun2

The best gift I ever got was my engagement ring from my husband. It was totally paid for and a total surprise because he told me he never wanted to get married to throw me off the scent!

    • Rannor

The best gift I ever got was from my sister. I had been taking care of our mother for about 3 years, with the help of my brother and sister. Christmas came and along with the usually Christmas cards was one from her entitled Caregiver. Inside was a gift card for dinner out, I was so surprised!!!!! Not for the gift card but the fact that she understood the sacrifice I was making to be our mothers caregiver.

    • Natalie

i love this idea! one christmas, money was very tight and my husband and i weren't sure how we were going to do christmas for the kids. it was either buy food or buy presents. 12 days before christmas, i opened the door to my house and there was a basket of food and grocery gift cards on our porch. this continued for the next 12 days (food, gifts for the kids, diapers, gift cards). God blessed us beyond what we could imagine that christmas! we never found out who did all of it! i look forward to the day that we can do the same for someone!

    • Yvonnestillwell

Without any doubt, the best gift I ever received was my salvation from Jesus Christ. I am always so humbled when I think of how unworthy I am to receive this gift, but He loves me so much that he gave it to me just for asking! Romans 10:9, John 3:16

    • Shannonrhenry

When my husband proposed I was given a beautiful engagement ring, however, the best gift from that moment was the indirect gift….the gift of my amazing step-daughter who I cherish and adore. She taught me to love and give selflessly and the importance of the title of mom…sweetly, before my biological son came along. She is the best big sister ever and I learn so much from her daily. I am eternally grateful! God is good!

    • Shelly Donahoe

The best gift I ever recieved was the gift of salvation. My Lord and Savior Jesus Christ died for me and gave me the gift of ever lasting life. My life has been for ever changed since the day I was saved. I would be nothing without my Savior!

    • colleen

The best gift ever given to me was our son who will be 2 in a month. I had a miscarriage a month before getting pregnant with our almost 2 year old and was certain that I would never get pregnant again or have a child.

The GIFT of eternal life!_Thank you JESUS!

    • Jennifer H.

My husband gave me a Flip video recorder for my 1st Mother's Day gift this year. Now we can capture all of my son's “firsts” on video! He even got it personalized with my son's picture on the front.

    • laban21

The best gift I ever received was a second chance.

    • sellis8630

My mother was looking to buy a 2009 Lexus ES350- my parents were paying cash for it.. My Dad has a great retirement.. My mother is somewhat of a major saver and an amazing shopper.. I told her when she went to buy her car to let me know if she sees any RX330's there, maybe around a 2005 with around 50k miles because at the time, we were looking to buy one..I got a call that afternoon and she told me she found one for me and wanted me to come look at it because they had an AMAZING price for it.. When I showed up at the dealership, she told me that it was FREE because she was GIVING IT to me!! It was a 2005 Lexus RX330..I was in shock for a few days to say the least!! Atleast one of my cars is paid for!! This was, by far, the best gift!! ( well aside from my kids and husband =D)

    • Leyhay

A surprise trip to Chicago for my 30th birthday… and a close second was the GPS I got last Christmas.

    • Lisa

The best gift I have ever received was from my husband. When my son was born, he gave me a necklace with 2 charms – a boy (for our new son) and a girl (for our daughter). It is beautiful and so special – and the thought behind it was just as good as the gift!

    • Kelly

The gift of love! First from my Lord and Savior, then love through family and friends. We all need love!

    • Wmllewis

The best gift I ever got was an anonymous one. I still don't know who left it for me. I had just lost someone very dear to me, and someone left me a large basket full of “spa” type items. There was also a very nice, and much needed, letter about taking the time to feel the way that you feel. It also told me that it was ok to cry in the shower. :)

Though it wasn't the most expensive or “fancy” gift I've ever gotten, it was the best thing that I've ever been given at exactly the time that I needed it most. It wasn't given because it was “expected” or “scheduled”, but just because someone recognized that I needed it at that moment in my life. I am forever grateful to the person who did that for me.

    • Lauren Simmons

The best gift I have ever recieved was the gift of my newborn sons heart healed. He was born with a heart defect and had it repaired at 3 days old.

    • Rebecca

I enjoyed reading several of these post. I have to agree with many others that the best gift is the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ, and second to that the gift of my family; my husband and beautiful daughter- our blessing through adoption.

    • Alittlelibrary

The best gift I ever received was from my parents. While my husband and I were on our honeymoon, my parent's cleaned up our house (which had been very neglected due to wedding preparations!) It was so wonderful to come home from our honeymoon to a clean house! I will never forget walking through the door and being so thankful that I have wonderful parents that would do something so kind.

    • Lorid

My older brother was stationed in Korea when I turned 15 yrs old. He sent me a beautiful jewelry box in a huge, huge, HUGE box. I had a great time just trying to find the present amongst all the packing materials. Then was overwhelmed to find such a beautiful gift.

    • Debbie

The best gift I've ever gotten was my son, Asher, who is now 2. I thank God EVERYDAY for him. I love this idea bc I know a lot of people who could use help and I would love to be able to be part of that.

    • Ajawee83

Best gift…my sister gave me rain boots, and I love them!

    • Cmccurry

The best gift was Christmas two yrs ago. One of my sons was living with a couple of friends. He didn't have a job, so he had no money. He came to spend Christmas Eve and Christmas Day with us. Christmas Day we were opening presents from our grown kids. Although we tell our kids not to get us anything, just being together is enough. Chritmas Eve our son had stayed up writng letters to each of us, telling what we meant to him.

    • iamdnl

I echo many people's sentiments that the best gift I have ever received is the Atonement of Jesus Christ.

    • Shellie

The best gift I ever received was not actually in the form of a gift at all. When my son was little, I used to take activities with us to keep him busy. Even at church I made sure he had “busy work”. One Sunday when my son was about three, I hurried out the door, running late and forgot the “busy bag”. When my son informed me I had forgotten it, I told him, in a not so nice way, “I cannot remember everything, you'll just have to survive without it”. During the church service, my innocent little boy handed me a note he had written on the back of a collection envelope. It read “dont yell at me”. I cried uncontrollable tears and realized that it was he who had taught me a lesson in patience and love. I still have his little reminder, sixteen years later, tucked away in my bible and refer back to it often when I need to find a place of serenity. It's true that the greatest gifts come in small packages.

My mom gave me a picture of my dad and myself when I was a baby. He is deceased now but it was a beautiful picture that I had never seen before.

    • Keywest19982000

The best gift I ever got was 2,000.00 from my mom for christmas. That was sweet and i did thank her.

    • N2duke

The best gift I ever received was friendship – our house was struck by lightning and almost burned completely. My husband and I were overwhelmed by the friends who came over day after day to help us when we didn't even know what help we needed.

    • Jess

      My children!

    • mim

A ticket to go visit my families overseas! A great gift I received for my husband. It was a gift that reached beyond just me because I got to enjoy it with my dear family.

    • Blessed

The best gift is – Jesus Christ who gave His life for my sins!
The 2nd best gift – Being Blessed enough to give to others instead of asking/needing help for myself or my immediate family. Everyday I am given Grace and Mercy!

    • Best gift I have ever recieved was my engagment ring!! I got engaged in April on my Birthday and was totally shocked!!! I will cherish it always!!! I love giveaways! Thanks for having this…..

    • DCB

My most precious gift took many forms during my pregnancy with my second daughter. I had contracted a virus during pregnancy that was extremely dangerous for the baby. A personal relationship with God became the most precious gift that I have ever received. God revealed himself to me along the way from others in my situation to an experiemental treatment that is not widely known. He guided me through the pregnancy with strength and ultimately a miracle of a baby that has surpassed my prayers.

    • Tsdixon

My college ring was a surprise from my husband. See, I never graduated from High School but continued after we were married to college. We really couldn't afford it but he thought it was important for me to have a school ring. He even ordered a diamond as the stone. It was a great gift and continues to make me feel special.

    • Lglines44

The best gift I have ever recieved was the opportunity to become a mother to my step-son. As a 36 year old woman, I have not yet been blessed with a pregnancy, but I have had the opportunity to help parent and watch my new son grow and mature. It has been the greatest gift ever! I never thought I could love a child so completely, but God has truly given me that gift.

    • Dianna

The best earthly gift I've ever received has been my husband and children. I just can't imagine my life without them!

    • I would probably say the best give I've been given is my engagement/wedding ring from my husband. We dated a long time before he proposed and I absolutely love the ring he got me. I'm not too big on jewelry, but it's one of the most beautiful and classic looking rings I've seen.

    • andreab

My hubby gave me a picture of a beach scene on our wedding day. He wrote some of our significant dates on the back – something I will treasure forever!

    • Janellekalman14

Salvation. Not much else to say because I owe it all to the man who paid for my sins.

    • Tanya

When me and my brother were about ten and twelve we lived in a trailer park. A lot of the kids in the neighborhood were already getting into drugs and being arrested etc. Our neighbor in the trailer next to us surprised me and my brother with a brand new above ground pool to reward us for staying out of trouble. That is the nicest thing that a stranger has done for me out of the kindness of their heart. That pool was around for years.

    • Amandajpierce

Best gift I ever received was my first positive pregnancy test. The Lord's blessings are always the best.

    • Jessica

The best gift I ever received was from my husband for our wedding. He wrote a book about the start of our life together! :D So sweet!

    • the best gift i ever got was from my cousin phoebe who is now 72 (she is like my third cousin). I received this perfect gift as a wedding shower present. When I was a lil girl I used to love this antique toaster that she had. You could only toast one side of the bread at a time. Well my senior year i had to write about someone i admired and I wrote about her, and then I printed it and gave it to her as a christmas gift. in the essay i wrote about how i loved that toaster. so she gave it to me, so i could always have a piece of my childhood with me!

    • SaverDawg

my two beautiful children after years of trying, heartache and complications. I thank God for them everyday!

    • Julia9874

ok, this has got to be the cutest thing I've seen in a while..

The best gift I got was the look of graditude last year when I brought in a truck load of cat food into the local humane society. They had been running low on canned cat food, and were so grateful for the donation. That truely was the gift I gave myself by giving to someone else.

    • adom

Best gift, besides my salvation, is being able to stay home with our five children. I was a high school algebra teacher for eight years and have had the honor of being home for three now and I am so blessed. I am able to do that thanks to God providing for our family in ways that I could never begin to explain, one of which is through the blessing of your coupon suggestions. Thanks so much!

    • Jen

One of the most precious gifts I received was a Kitchen Aid mixer with all the attachments. I had just started making cakes to sell & had burnt up a hand mixer making icing. My husband gave it to me during a time when we had very little money. At first, I was upset with him for buying me something when we barely had money to buy groceries. After grilling him over where he could have possibly gotten the money for such a luxury, he told me that someone sold it to him for $1.00. I thought they had gotten a new one & therefore sold him the older one, but I later learned that they knew about me burning up my hand mixer & wanted me to have their mixer. That was 8 years ago & they just recently were able to buy a new Kitchen Aid mixer to replace the one they “sold” my husband. Their generosity has meant so much to me all these years as I make birthday cakes for my children.

    • Erica

The best gift I have ever been given is the gift of selflessness. My single mother gave all of herself to her four children. I could never understand this until I was a mother and now I see all to clearly the sacrifices that are made and don't even seem like a sacrifice because of how much you love your children.

    • Andrea

The best gifts I've received are our adopted son from Ethiopia, and our daughter from Haiti. Our daughter was actually a surprise! You don't hear that often with adoptions! But she is a gift to our family, and we happily received her in!

    • Tenth Avenue North

The best gift i have ever recieved was my first bible

    • Michlelle Thompson

The best gift I ever received was God's saving grace for my life. Secondly, He gave me my wonderful husband and five wonderful children. I am truly blessed beyond measure!

    • kaseyshadow

It's hard for me to choose one thing as the best gift ever I've been blessed with so many. Recently an apology from a student that was sincere followed by a change in behavior was the gift I needed at the time. It seems that God places just the right person in my life at the right time. That is always the best gift.

    • Bondgirl

Probably the best gifts I have ever received came from my mother-n-law. When my husband proposed to me, she took the diamond out of the ring that my father-n-law gave her when he proposed to her, then she had it set and bought a chain to make it a necklace for me. I have never received anything so wonderful in mu life and I cherish it greatly!

    • tcturpin99

After my mom's death I found her wedding band in the window sill where she washed dishes, I put it in my pocket to keep it safe and give to my baby brother later on as a remeberance of her, I could not find the Mothers Ring I gave her for her birthday the year before. Several weeks later my baby brother (18years years old at the time) came to me and said I found this in Mom's ppocketbook and took it for you to keep it safe I knew you would want it sis, he gave me mamma's Mothers ring!!! I gave him the wedding band, he had been looking for it since her death. The look on his face was the greatest gift I ever recieved here on earth, I agree that the gift of salvation is the top most gift any of us will ever recieve!!!

That's a though one, even just considering material gifts, since I have a wonderful husband and for some reason ALWAYS does it right, sometimes I had not even mention about it and I will get it sooner or later, but I believe the most surprising has been my food processor, 2 days before Christmas just mention my mom I wanted one, but not him, and since my mom doesn't speak English or my husband Spanish…I know there was not a leak :o). Then I opened one of my gifts and my jaw drop till the floor . by the way Did I mention that I am a food lover and everything related to it, so cooking has become a passion for me.

    • Gtpgirl03

The best gift I ever received was from my Granddaddy. He gave me a fishing pole, taught me how to fish and passed away a few years after that date. I now love to fish and past the same traditions down to my family.

    • Skhodson2112

Besides my husband and my children, the best gift I ever received (though I didn't know it at the time) was a set of jumper cables. I was probably 16 or 17, and my brother gave each of my family members a set for Christmas. I thought, “what a horrible gift”. But, as I got older, I appreciated them very much. Those cables lasted me for 20 years and were used numerous times. I thanked him not too long ago for that gift, and, surprisingly, he didn't remember. But, I will never forget! :)

    • Amy

The best gift I ever got was a brand new golf cart painted Viper red from my wonderful husband for my 30th birthday. : ) Thanks Andre!

    • Marisha G

I like everyone else have had some amazing gifts. The gift of second chances, wonderful marriage, beautiful life. Of course I've been through the rough, that's why I can now appreciate the good and be so thankful. One of the best physical gifts I've received was a Disney purse while in Disney from my MIL and SIL. It's perfect and such a surprise!

    • LindseyB

The best gift I have ever received is my daughter. She is a blessing to my life and the life of my family. As far as material gifts go, I would say one of the best gifts I have gotten was a Bosch mixer with all the attachments.

    • Chelseaferraro

Of course the best gift would be my children, but the best material gift I've received would be my Kindle.

    • ncchris

Best gift for me was a new cell Phone on Christmas morning. Was not expecting it all. I love surprises

    • Lorie

A necklace my daughter made me with a picture of her on it for mothers day, she was 3. I wear it on mothers day and her birthday every year (she is 8 now). bought gift a robe from VS I think I have had it for 11 years now.

    • Becca A

The best gift I have ever received is my 3 precious babies! I couldn't ask for anything better

    • Lisa

I had my 2nd daughter 5 days before Christmas. My 3 sisters came to my house the day after Christmas and took my tree down for me, packed away all the decorations, and thoroughly cleaned my home. I'm one of these people who just can't bear to see the barren tree the day after Christmas and I wouldn't have been physically able do it myself nearly that quickly. It was such a blessing!

    • Megan D

The best gift I ever got was a ring and a promise from my husband.

    • Debbie

The best gift was my twins at age 47, they are now 8 and I am now 55. They came the day before my birthday 10 weeks early as my birthday gift and the cool part is they are a gift I get to keep and enjly forever.

    • James

The best gift I've ever received from an earthly giver was a suprise weekend getaway from my wife. During an especially stressful time in my life (caring for sick parents) my wife met me at the door on a Thursday explaining that the car was making a funny noise. My response? “Great, something else to worry about”. She insisted on my getting in the car to hear the noise right away. As we started down the road, I was all ears, trying to hear the noise. Nothing. No odd noise. She insisted that the noise was loud and clear. For the life of me, I couldn't hear it. “You don't hear it? It sounds just like your wife taking you on a weekend trip to relax and spend time together” Of course I had the dumb look of confusion all over me, looking in the back seat for items necessary for a weekend trip (all packed, in the trunk). The trip was great and necessary. I'll never forget this kind, thoughtful gift from my wonderful wife.

    • Tessy

Best present I received (altho at the time I couldn't say this) was for my 8th Christmas present my parents opened up a savings account for me which I still have to this day. They taught me at an early age how to save money!

    • Memorymaker

I am an extremely sentimental person, so the gift that meant the most was a hand sewn quilt from my Grandmother as a wedding gift. It is one of those gifts you cannot replace and something I will treasure and hand down to my children and grandchildren one day!

    • JLorch

Gift from the Lord–The knowledge of His saving grace and acceptance into His family forever!
Earthly gifts–a stove from my mom!

    • Angela

The best gift I have ever received is God's wonderful grace!Without His loving arms around me and His healing touch, No other item in my life would be worth anything!

    • Emilytwinmom

As far as material gifts, my father bought us a dorm fridge when ours was broken “under warranty” for five or six weeks, and that got us through with a family of five! I thank him all the time, because I don't know what we would have done without that wonderful gift. Non material was my mom babysitting for us last friday night. We hadn't been out as a couple in over a year, it was pure bliss! I will most likely give her whatever the prize is if I win this giveaway, which by the way is a pretty cool idea :)

    • Jennifer Wallace

The best gift I have ever received was the January day when I received a call that my 50 year old mother was on her way to Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta to receive a kidney transplant! It has been 11 years since that day and I thank God so much for that present to my mom and my whole family! She is a walking miracle!

    • Kardomr

      The best gifts ever…Can I have a top 3 or 4 list? :)
      1. My engagment ring. What gift is better than being married to a wonderful person?
      2. Food from a friend after dd was born.
      3. When my husband plans a secret trip. They're kinda like this giveaway–you have no idea where until you're there. But they're always fun.
      4. Ladies' night out. Ah!

    • Jjohnsoncoupons

I have been blessed more than I deserve with salvation, a wonderful family including my husband and son. But, the best physical gift would be my engagement/wedding ring. Diamonds are a girl's best friend!

    • Madge

My hubbie is God's greatest gift to me. I had a car accident and was paralyzed and never thought i'd get married….

    • Auntcar

The Christmas after my dad past away my mom gave me a necklace with a black tahitian pearl with a diamond on top of it as a Christmas present yes but she said that it was a thank you as well for be so supportive during a difficult time. My dad was only 52 and this was a major shock, but God has His reason for all things. He also gives us wonderful gifts and one of the greatest gifts He has given me is my mom.

    • Toddmonster17

The best gift I ever received was a gift for my family. The day my MIL passed was the day we found out I was to have the last grandchild in the family. She is very dear to us all.

    • griffins00

The best gift I have ever been given was from my mom and dad. They gave my family land to build a home on about 5 years ago, and we saved so much money by having the land paid for in full! We will be forever grateful for this gift…my parents are the most giving people I have ever known!

    • Abcdsclark

I lost my two month old daughter in august of 08 to sids, on christmas eve i got pregnant with our son, so my little boy is the best christmas present my hubby ever gave me :)

    • Mrsmcsparran

The best gift that I have ever received is God's saving grace. Not everyone will forgive you for your wrong doings, but I have an AWESOME God that will love me no matter what flaws I come with. Besides that, I have been blessed with an amazing soldier who puts his life on the line for the greatest country in the world and I have also been blessed with a family that loves me for me. If you are looking for a material item then I would have to say my camera, there is nothing like being able to capture life's little moments, everywhere you go. I will never forget the small things or the big things because I was able to “document” them!

    • Jennie

The best gift I have ever gotten is a new lap top that my boyfriend got me when my other one died and I was in the middle of a time where I really needed a computer…it was a real lifesaver.

    • Freedomspradley1

I have a daughter with cystic fibrosis and our family fundraises for various events benefitting the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation each year. Every time someone donates to a CF fundraiser they are giving me the best gift in the world by buying the research needed to extend my babies life!

    • Danielle Forte

When I was younger my parents would allow me to buy things and would let me put it on my “MISA”, which was a fake credit card that my parents had allowed me to use so that I could learn how to use credit cards. Well needless to say I abused it and my debt to my parents went up to well over 2,000.00 dollars. At that time my parents weren't doing so well financially but always put me and my sister first and enjoyed us being able to buy a little something here and there. I believe because of their big hearts and how they are always giving my dad got a big raise which helped them out tremendously financially. Instead of keeping all the money for themselves they turned around and forgave me and my sister of all of our debt totaling more than 4,000.00 dollars. It really blessed me to see how big their hearts are and showed me that debt can be a scary thing but thanks to them and their Godly hearts they erased it and took that weight off my shoulders. I am forever reminded of their love and will forever be blessed by that huge act of blessing. It goes to show that It is better to give than to receive because it was a bigger blessing to them to be able to do it than it was for me to receive it.

    • Adamsdmd

The blessing of the birth of my daughter is the best I have ever received, and every moment that I have with her.

    • Cindy Henderson

I'm a practical person, and really enjoy getting things that I need or that will be used. So my favorite gift was the laundry hamper full of household items towels and bedding that my mom gave me when I left for college. By the way she would be getting the prize. Love you mom!

    • Tiatoangels

We travel all the time and my husband once bought me a cosmetic travel bag that I was wanting and then looked (without my knowledge) at what I use. He filled it with every product that I used in the right shade! Now when I travel, I don't have to pack up my bathroom, just grab the bag with all the things that I use already in it!

    • Allie101ola

Id have to say the best gift I ever received was my salvation from Jesus Christ!

    • Wtpbear20

The best gift I have ever received was dunkin donuts delivered to my house for a whole year. I love dunkin donuts coffee and it was so having it brought to door. Especially since I was usually to cheap to spring on it for myself since I am the only one in the house that drinks coffee.

    • Smithangeldawn

The best gift I ever recived was a letter from my 14 year old son on Mother's Day. It said how proud he was that I cooked and cleaned for them and that he knew he could always talk to me if he needed too. He said I was number one because I had made him number one. I cried and cried!! I will keep it forever.

    • Sarah M.

Other than my salvation, the best gift I've ever received is my 8 month old baby girl. I guess I could say she was a gift from my husband. ;-)

    • clocla

      Bible from my grandparents

    • Rgdintn

The best gift I received was a crocheted blanket made by my great aunt. It is probably the last thing she made before she lost her eyesight. It is very special.

    • whitneybutler

This past Christmas was a hard time for us. We had recently moved to be closer to my family and my husband was out of work for a little while. The two of us and our toddler had no kitchen table to eat as a family and that Christmas my Mother surprised us with a gorgeous table. That was the best gift ever. I am not a crier, but in that moment I teared up instantly.

    • Kelly D

Like so many, the gift of God's grace and a savior is more than I deserve. Like that wasn't enough….. He gave me an amazing husband who loves me inspite of all of my many faults and a beautiful daughter I had to name “Grace”!

    • Lindsey

By far, the best gift I've ever gotten is my wedding ring!! I know it sounds a little cliche, but I feel like mine is so special b/c my husband worked so hard to get it for me! At the time, he was in grad school & working as a waiter. He had given up his great job to follow where God was leading him. He picked up so many shifts to get me the ring of my dreams!! And, of course, it's extremely beautiful, but every time I look at it I think of how hard he worked for it & how he continues to work tirelessly to provide for our family!

    • guest

      y hubby and children

    • Aymee

The best gift that I have ever recieved is my first car. My Grandpa and I worked on it for weeks and then when it was finished he gave it to me. I loved my little Ford Escort!

    • branchofthevine

The year we had our 3rd child and started our woodworking business, we were out of money by Christmas, but my husband surprised me and hand-crafted two beautiful wood candlesticks. I cried then and can't think about them without warm emotions every time, even 6 years later.

    • Danielle Shepard

The best gift I ever recieved was my daughter 11 months ago today. So I will be sure to thank my husband for that.

    • Barrbie

      I dido that!

Unexpected gifts during the year — flowers, time to myself, putting away the dishes — truly make me happy.

    • Molliec

The best gift I was ever given was my daughter. We prayed and tried, and tried and prayed for 4 years before God blessed us with her! There is nothing greater! What a neat idea for a giveaway!

This past Valentine's Day my dad surprised me with a Pandora bracelet and charm. It was so thoughtful and unexepected! I love it and wear it everyday. :)

    • Aimeemohler

My husband and I were missionaries in Romania for 5 years and when we returned to begin our minitsry back in the states we only had the $ to buy one car. Since I was a stay at home mom we struggled to live that way for many months but we did it wihotu complaining. One day I picked my husband up at the church and he told me that a family in the community wanted to meet with us. In that meeting they shared that God had impressed on them to give us their extra car that was only used for emergencies since their family was so large now. This was the most wonderful gift we have ever received and we are still enjoying the blessing of it 7 years later! God is good!

    • grandmak

A day at a spa from my husband. It was so not like him to give it to me, so that's what made it so special.

    • Raspberry

The best gift we've been given has been a roof over our heads during the hardest trial we've faced–job loss/pay cuts.

    • 2 Ahouse

I thought this would be a hard question but I can only come up with one answer. A little background first. I have been a single parent since my son was 11 weeks old. We have a .very close relationship. One year for my birthday (when he was an unemployed teenager) he wrote an original song about his feelings about us. It was set to the music of my favorite bands song Highway to Heaven ala Led Zepplin. My material gifts (while precious) will fade…I will always have this!

    • Amy1112

      God's Grace!!

    • Patricia

The best gift I ever received was the gift of life, from my parents. They gave me life, taught me how to live and how to be compassionate to others. There is not a day goes by I don't think of them and miss them. I would love to win a prize I could give to my sister, who has gone through her share of tough times, recently, and deserves something GOOD…something to enjoy.

    • Angel

The best gift I have ever received would be my three month old son! He is such a joy every day!

My husband!! And a wonderful stepfather for my son….

    • Amt1218

getting to stop chemo for 2 weeks so I could go to Arlington Cemetary in DC to see my son get his Tomb Guard badge at the Tomb of Unknown Soldiers. He had worked so hard for it. He was badge number 564. It is the least given badge in all the military. They have been giving it out since the 1950's and only given less than 600 now to date. I had colon cancer and was not doing well… I think getting to go see him recieve this honor helped me through the remaider of my treatments!

      • Amt1218

I also have to add….one more gift.. the gift of life… God gave me so many miracles throughout my cancer. Thanks to His healing hands I was able to enjoy yet another gift… My first Grandaughter born in March! GOD IS GOOD… GOD IS GREAT!

    • Alli

My favorite gifts are always cute picture frames!

    • Harper

The best gift I have ever received was the unconditional grace of Jesus. He loves me and forgives me when I mess up royally (which I do quite often), when I am not a “perfect” mom and wife (which I am not quite often) and when I am not even sure I love myself. It is a gift I do not deserve and yet He did it with me in mind. What an amazing gift that I can never repay.

      The gift of salvation

    • BarbJDean

In June of 1979, just days after having my first child at age 30, I spent a restless night crying and feeling sorry for myself because my colicky son had been crying for a day and a half. I had walked the floor with him until so fatigued that I could not stand. My husband was out of town on business, so my mother-in-law took over..this is the first hint of my despair, my mother-in-law took over…and ordered me to bed. My father-in-law, the first loving father figure in my life, silently came in to check on me and when he heard me crying, went into our home office and made me a badge that read: “Mom of the Century.” When he brought that in and presented it to me, telling me that I was and would always be a wonderful mother, I felt like the luckiest woman alive. I never stopped thanking Dad…even the last time I saw him alive…and he knew just how much that incredibly thoughtful act meant to me. Thank you for letting me share this!

    • Tamionthego

My greatest gift came from my sister in law, it was 3 bolg sights to teach me how to use anf find coupons. I would not be doing as well as we are if it were not for her, and Collin too now :)

    • Rocketgirl5678

My favorite gifts are the special poems and drawings I get from my daughter. These are irreplaceable.

    • Christie Ryder

The best gift I ever got was two children, they were given to me when my sister-in-law went to be with the Lord, and I now have the privilege of raising the two teenage boys..(Praise God!)

    • Mommywoodall

The best gift I ever received was a beautifully written thank you note from my college-age daughter. After experiencing a little “reality check” by going off to college in another state and having to do most things on her own, she found a deep sense of gratitude for dear old Mom and Dad. Now, that's something money can't buy:)

    • Janis

      too numerous to select one:
best gifts from God: my salvation, then family (parents, husband, children, siblings)
best physical gift: anniversary trip to the Biltmore house from my children

    • Marietphillips

My favorite gift was a limited edition of the book “To Kill A Mockingbird” from my husband. It is truly an incredible book with such a deep meaning.

    • sandyJ

The best gift I've ever received was while I was in college. At the time I lived 3 hours away from my boyfriend. He surprised me when he drove up with flowers just to have dinner with me on my brithday.

    • JL

My son Hayden is my best present and I thank God everyday for him. Next would be the hand print in the heart from him on Mother's day (priceless) I think when I was a kid my coolest present was the parakeet I got when I turned six.

    • Llockwood

The best present I have ever received is when my husband sent me on a scavenger hunt to different stores for my birthday one year. He thought out clues and wrote them in cards. He gave me my first card at home. I had to figure out each clue and then he would drive me to the next location where I needed to get my next “clue”. Each store was so friendly and excited to participate in surprising me. Some stores even had “gift clues” for me to open along the way. My very last clue was a special dinner at one of my favorite restaurants. My husband's birthday is next month. I would love to surprise him in a thoughtful way. This giveaway is a wonderful idea.

    • Delores

Well, there are many. To pick just one is very hard. Can I pick 3? But then I would have to ask for 5 and so on and on and on. Okay, the best physical/thing gift was our 12 passenger van when we needed to move up to a larger vehicle.

    • Kelly

I think the best gift I received was from my best friend. My father was a Marine and passed away in Dec. of 2006. He had a military funeral. I remember the soldier playing taps and the folding of the flag which was given to my mom. He was a great man. My birthday was in January and she gave me Willow tree figurine of the angel holding a folded American Flag. That was just the perfect thing for me. She proudly sits by his picture in my china cabinet.

    • chasgal

The best gift I ever received wasnt a 'thing' but rather a two word phrase of advice from my grandfather. His advice? “Be particular.” I find that it works in any situation: friends you make, relationships you enter into, choosing a job, what you eat, what you say —- it works for everything! It has helped guide me to make sure that whatever my choice is, that it is the best possible decision I can make!

    • Wanda297

My favorite gifts are all of God's blessings and all my family and friends (new and old). My health and knowledge to learn new things (like this couponing site – thanks!).

    • Jessica Darnell

The best gift I have ever received…. My son recently was shot in the eye (by accident) with a bb gun. He has permanent damage and will need constant care. I drive a minivan that is on it's last leg and gets horrible gas mileage. My wonderful brother saw my need and gave me his much better on gas, not on it's last leg Nissan Altima. This car has been the biggest blessing now every month I can drive back and forth from the hospital (2 hours away) on only one tank of gas (and drive the rest of the week). Also after we “swapped” he did some work on my minivan and gave it away as well (to a family in need of course).

    • Jamie

Although she isn't here yet, my daughter is the greatest gift god could of ever given me. When I found out that I was pregnant, my whole world did a 360 and A LOT of things have changed. I couldn't have asked for anything better!!! :)

    • jan

I lost a watch about 10 yrs. ago at the mall. My husband had given it to me for mother's day and i dearly loved it. This past winter i happen to see the exact watch in a gold exchange store thta someone had sold to them, I wanted to buy it soo badly but did not have the extra money. I happed to mention it to my mom, whom went immediatly and bought it for me and suprised me with it !! I just sit and cried because i wanted it soo badly, this was one of the best unexpected gifts ever!!!

    • Nmckeown

God gave my husband and I the most amazing baby girl. I didn't want a child, ever, but he had faith that it would all be OK. God created a miracle in me for us, changed my heart, and I can't thank Him enough.

    • Christy

The best gift I've ever recieved was an electric picture frame. It was from my husband and just the fact that he listened an took it upon himself to go find one was super sweet.

    • Claudia Koehler

My best gift was when my sweet housband give his working airlines miles to be able to have my mom & brother here with me for Christmas, they came from South America – Bolivia. That was the best Christmas ever
Nothing better then family they never let you down.

    • Laura

The best gift I have ever received is my dog

    • Cathy

I think the greatest gift ever was when someone put $20 in my mailbox not knowing how much it blessed my family at that time. They wrote a note and told me how they felt lead by God to do it and hope that it blessed us. I wish I could go personally thank that person but only they and God know who they are and I'm pray it was returned to them multiplied. I pray God blesses you and all others who blog to save others money, it has truly blessed our family. Every opportunity my family gets we try to show others what we have learned that it may help them as well. May God Bless the giver and receiver of this gift.

    • Robin

A second chance……with my family, but more specifically with my daughter. I did something really awful that hurt her deeply. She chose forgiveness and reconciliation over detachment and alienation. This is the most precious gift ANY mom could ever hope for. Even though I didn't feel deserving, she gave. As a result, we are all closer to God now….who of course, is the ULTIMATE forgiver…is that a word??? Thanks for such an awesome website! Take car and God bless!

    • Kristen

The best gift i ever received was of course my daughter!! I know it sounds cliche, but she truly is!! I always have more fun putting a smile on someone elses face than receiving so this is the perfect contest!!

    • Rhiannon

My house. My dad is a builder and when my husband and I got ready to “be grown-ups”, my dad and my brothers built our house in exchange for lunch. All I had to do was buy lunch and they called it even. I still paid for the supplies but I built my house for less than half of its appraised value. What a gift!

    • kjmiller

Jesus Christ is the greatest gift I ever received. (Thank you, Lord for my salvation!).

Wow!! I've sat here and read every single post and cried at some of them. I've really counted my blessings. My salvation, my husband, my five healthy little boys, our home that he built, the fact our parents are still with us, and we're all in good health, my dad just returned from Afghanistan, the list goes on and on. I've been blessed with so many gifts, but the most precious of all is the bible I received when I turned 13. My parents inscribed, “….our greatest hope is that you live for God.” At the time, it was the most UNCOOL gift, but it sits today on my bedside table, and it has been the roadmap for my life. Thank you for this giveaway, I've been uplifted and reminded of all the good things we've been blessed with by reading these posts, (which I imagine was your point). If I won, I would pick a dear sister in our church who lost her husband a few years ago, and her last surviving daughter to cancer this year. She is one of the most wonderful people I've been privileged to know, and is one of those who have never had much materially. Thank you again!!

My miniature Dachshund-TONTO. He loves me no matter what and is always glad to see me! I don't know what I would do without him on some days.

After debating the name of our first child with my husband for month's, my husband stuck a note in my Christmas stocking with a name on it. It was the name that I had been wanting all along.

      • dianecatherine

        That is too cool!

I received a Everyday Prayers Journal from a dear lady from church. I was given on a very hard day, I losted 3 very close family members in 10 months, my two brothers and a 34 year old nephew. Our lives changed forever. So when out ot the clear blue, someone gives you something so special. You never forget it.

My daughter has brought the biggest joy to me and my husband. We had plans of me finishing my master's and then becoming debt free before we started having children..and surprise she was born in March and our life has become so much more rich since then. Her name means “the gift” in Swahili; and she has truly been a gift to me!
Such great comments everyone has written…we are a thankful and blessed bunch!

My father made my grandpas three stone diamond ring into earrings and a necklace for me when he passed so i could remember him and have something of his. I always think about him when i wear it.

The best gift ever was a honeymoon trip to Cabo San Lucas from my godmother who passed away two years ago.

The best gift I ever received was having my college education paid for by my parents…didn't know at the time just how valuable of a gift this was!! I certainly hope to be able to do the same for my kids one day!

The best gift I ever received was my son. If it has to be tangible, it would be one of my rings, engagement ring, wedding band, or my mother's ring.

    • dianecatherine

Besides, my children (of course!), it would be a diamond necklace my husband got me. It wasn't even the necklace itself but that he knew I loved this necklace. He said that every commercial that came on (and there were several before the holidays), that I would stop what I was doing and glance up at the TV for a few seconds. Going off that alone, he got it and it is my favorite necklace! And here I thought he never paid attention! :)

The best gift I ever received was when my husband and I got married(he was in the military awaiting his first base assignment), and got our first base assignment. It was in Okinawa, Japan. It was the most amazing adventure and experience to have with the person i loved most in the world. It taught us to rely on each other and depend on each other. Til this day it has been a great blessing in our marriage. There was no where to run when we had an argument or disagreement, we just had to work it out on our own. It was an amazing experience that i'll never forget.

The best gift I've every received – or ever will – is the gift of Salvation given to me by our Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ. Everyone can have it – IT'S FREE to us all. John3:16.

The best gift I ever received was from my Dad. One day he asked if I wanted a candy bar. I said yes. He asked what kind. I said a Mr. Goodyear. He smiled and said okay. He brought me home a MR. GOODBAR with the name scratched out and he wrote in Mr. Goodyear. He did it with a straight face! I laughed very hard and I still have the wrapper (that was almost 20 yrs. ago!).

The best gift I have received was $400 cash from someone anonymous at church. The Lord knew we were in need for that money and He led someone in our church family to give it to us. The Lord is good and always faithful!

    • pugmama

I have been blessed with many lovely things but with my husband deployed since Jan. of this year I have realized that gifts come in many forms. So the best gift I have been given is that of time. Many of friends, neighbors and church family have stepped in and given of themselves selflessly for things that may seem like not such a big deal but are a tremendous blessing to me and my 3 children. Things like: bringing a meal, praying with me, errands, asking us to spend time together, babysitting, playdates, home repairs, car repairs, nights out for me, and notes of encouragement to me and my husband just name a few.

    • BrenLuk

The best gift I ever received was my husband returning early from a military deployment!

When my daughter was diagnoed with luekemia a friend gave me a Survivors card. On the card it says, What cancer cannot do: It cannot cripple love. It cannot shatter hope. It cannot conquer faith. It cannot destroy peace. It cannot invade the soul. It cannot steal eternal life. At the time it was just what I needed. I keep the card where I can read it daily to remind me that my daughter is not mine and someday she will go home. But every moment I have her with me is a blessing. Someday I hope to give the card to someone that is needing it as much as I did.

    • Jenny

What a neat giveaway! My best gift was a wooden jewelry box my grandfather made for me when I was about 12. It wasn't the jewelry box itself, but the love that went into making it …

    • Casmly

The best gift I ever received was the chance to be in my aunt's wedding as the flower girl. I was then able to turn the tables and make her my Matron of honor several years later. Her life was tragically cut short just shy of her 36th birthday, which makes my best gift ever and all the memories to go with it that much more precious.

    • Meredith

The best gift I have been given is my husband and two beautiful children. I thank God for them every day and consider myself very blessed to have the wonderful job of taking care of them.

My husband made this little handprint suncatcher craft with my kids' picture in the center. I love it!

The greatest gift I received was a second chance after surviving breast cancer almost 10 years ago. Praise GOD, I have witnessed my daughter graduate from High School, birth of a niece and nephew. My son will graduate this year and the list goes on and on. Thankful for life and God's saving grace.

    • Jenichthus

The greatest gift that any of us can receive is salvation. Clearly a step down from that, the best non-spiritual gift that I have gotten came just recently from my husband. I worked for the first two years of my son's life, crying every day before work for the first several months, even though I knew that my husband was a fantastic stay-at-home dad. And now, he's been working like crazy getting his master's so that I could stay home with our son. I am so grateful for all of the time and effort that he has put in to be able to go back to work doing something that will allow me to stay home (provided I can keep our grocery costs low using southernsavers!), especially considering that he would like to continue to stay home if I wanted to work. I've been given the gift of being a stay-at-home mom, and I'd like to help someone who doesn't have that option.

    • Kimberly

MY SON- Everyone kept asking me what i wanted for my 30th birthday and I would say- a baby. I was dreading turning 30 because I thought my chances of getting pregnant would disappear. My hubby and I had only been trying for a few months, so i thought it would be unlikely. I took a test the morning of my bday and it was positive!!! I thank God everyday for my son, Grayson!

    • Amanda C

The greatest gift I've ever received is the relationship that I have with JESUS. For without HIM, I would not have made it thru my sons' serious illness as an infant, or my daughter's death..and everything else that has happened. While I was pregnant with my daughter I made the decision to re-commit myself to the Lord..whatever HE wanted for my life, whatever the cost. Little did I know that HE would shortly use the birth/death of my daughter to slowly, lovingly bring me to the place of complete surrender in my life. It's been 4 years since Katie Beth died, and I can truly, honestly say that I've never been more satisfied, happy, and content with where I am in my life. This is not to say that my life went to being a bed of roses…but rather, while going thru these trials, the Lord has taught me to “love” the refining process that Proverbs speaks about. I would not have the relationship with JESUS that I do had it not been for those trials.

The best gift I ever received was a hooked Auburn rug that she made. This rug came as a huge surprise one Christmas. (It's usually the kids who make their parents gifts) I went to Auburn University at the time and hung with pride in my Frat house. I constantly told my mom how many complements her rug got from all of my “too cool” frat bros.

There are so many beautiful posts here already and I am sure many more to come. I just wanted to say the best gift I have received is reading these messages. It lifted my feelings beyond belief. I have experienced too many instances of “gifts” to go into detail, but I can relate to so many told here. I feel on cloud nine with others thoughtful expressions.

      • brooke_b

Meme, I know exactly what you mean and how you feel! Right now I am supposed to be cooking dinner but I keep running back to the computer and reading these posts! With all the struggles going on today- it’s a nice feeling, for the moment, to read all of these amazing stories and see all the gifts everyone is thankful for. It is very heartwarming!

We have 5 children. With #3 and #4, we named them before we knew their sex, with both the first and middle names being unisex. When I was pregnant with our 5th child (who is now 13 months old), I really wanted the unisex first name to be “Kellet”. My husband tried his hardest to talk me out of it because he didn't like the name. Well, every year, around Christmas, there is a stand at the local mall where you can buy ornaments, frames, etc, with a certain number of people, snowmen, elves, etc on them. We get one every year with the number of children that we have at that time and the two of us. Everyone's names are written on their figure and the year is written, sort of to show how our family has grown from year to year. That particular year, we'd gotten one made, as usual. On Christmas day, I was told that my last gift was very special. When I opened it, it was another one of the Christmas items that we get every year, except it had the following year on it, and it had an extra name added to it, Kellet. It was the best present ever! Not only did it show that we would have another blessing added before the next Christmas, but it showed that my husband was giving in, and letting me name our last baby Kellet, like I wanted to.

My mom died from Alzheimer's on Feb. 6, of this year. She had been bad for quite some time. When she stopped swallowing, we had to make a decision for life support or not. She would not have wanted that, so we made her comfortible and waited. On Wednesday before she died on Saturday, I sang all her favorite songs to her that she use to sing. She smiled at me the whole time and told me she loved me. We went to sleep and the she never opened her eyes again. That gift of her smile once again meant all the world to me. Wouldn't trade it for anything! I thank God for that moment and my place of employement. I was with her every moment that week.

The best gift I have ever been given…it is hard to decide. The fact of the matter is that salvation is the greatest gift. Followed by my husband and children. I could have never asked for God to give me a better husband than he did. I am blessed with the best man to call my partner.

My miracle babies. They are gifts from God

My engagement ring was the best present ever!

    • Gt5801d

My best gifts ever are most certainly my son and husband. The best material gift was college money given to me by my grandfather. Between that and working, I graduated from college debt-free!

    • Barnesj8596

My children. They are precious to me and I am thankful for them.

    • Rose

The best gift I've received is not something material…it is the support I received from my friend Corie. As a first time mommy, I was struggling at times to adjust to the life of a mom. But my friend Corie encouraged me and built me up. We met at the park and chatted for hours and she's made sure that I get a break every now and then. That is my favorite gift…the gift of true friendship.

    • April Hunt

As far as an actual MATERIAL gift..

When my daughter was born two years ago my husband had a necklace made for me. Several months before she was born he had me put my thumbprint on a piece of paper and wouldn't tel me why. I eventually forgot about it until the week that she was born. He had taken his fingerprint and my fingerprint and had a silversmith make a HEART out of the two thumbprints. On the back he had our daughters initials engraved. I was blown away by his creativity and his thoughtfulness. I am so in love with him, and we are so blessed to have each other. I am so thankful God put us together. I love bragging him! He is such a romantic!!! :)

    • Winnie

the best gift I have ever received is most definitely the gift of salvation from my Lord & Savior Jesus Christ. I must admit I also love the gift of hair color, chocolate and family!

    • Snowski824

The best gifts I've ever received were homemade gifts of encouragement. A “good wife's guide” when I got married was not only funny but endearing. I appreciate that person put the time into making me something special! If I get chosen to give a gift to someone I would give it to my friend Kate who has 5 children under 3 and one in the womb and would love the encouragement too.

My husband bought me a car for Christmas a few years ago! and he even paid cash, so no car payments!!!!!!!! It still runs great!

    • Amanda

The best gift I ever received: When my son was three months old, my husband lost his job due to the economy. We were struggling to make ends meat, and someone sent us an anonymous letter in the mail with $500 cash to help us pay the bills. If I knew who (on Earth) to thank, I would, but I definitely thanked the Lord, because I know it ultimately came from Him!

    • Courtney

I have received many “gifts” such as two beautiful children and wonderful husband, etc. But one of my most favorite gits was a book that my Grandmother gave me one Christmas. When I was little I got pneumonia. It was bad. My grandmother who was also the head town librarian would bring me books and read them to me while I recuperated. One day she brought this little book (about 3″ x 5″) and read it to me. I loved the story but also loved the size of the book. Everytime I went to the library I would go to the shelf to see this little book and to read who had checked it out on the libarary card insert. I checked on this book up until I left for college. My grandmother retired from the library after getting breast cancer. One Christmas after I was married, I opened the gift from my grandmother and it was this little book that I had loved for so long. The library had finally “retired” the book and my grandmother had always requested to have it if it ever was given away. She wrote a lovely inscription in the front , and I cherish this book and her memory. Her breast cancer came back a few years after she gave me the book and she died within a year.

The best gift I ever received was from my husband on our weddng night. He had made me a scrapbook of our dating life. It was so sweet and he did it all on his own!!!

    • Erika

The kindness of “strangers”. One year when I was little, we weren't going to have much of a Christmas. On Christmas Eve our doorbell rang and there was Santa with presents for all of us. When asked who to thank, he said, “thank the Lord and pass it on someday when you can.” I have kept that memory with me for years and I try to pass on as many blessings as I can.

my greatest gift was finding my friend Veige 32 years ago. She has been with me through good and bad. Supported me when I found out what my husband was doing to my kids, supported me through breast cancer (and me with hers) and has continued to support me with the loss of my oldest girl last october, my mother that same week, and a recent loss of an ex-husband. I am not sure where I would have gotten my strength from without her. For her, I am thankful Denise

The best gift was when our NICU doctors told us we could finally take our daughter home from the hospital. My daughter was born at 26 weeks (3 1/2 monthe early) and only weighed 2lbs. On three different occassions, we were told to stay by her side because she would not be making it through the night. After 3 surgeries and 94 long days, she came home on New Year's Eve.

I think that the best present I ever had was when my parents took me to Japan to see a Japanese concert on my birthday. I never thought they would ever do that and I will always remember what they did for me.

My greatest gift ever was today. It will hopefully change tomorrow. Do yourself a favor, wake up early tomorrow and watch the sun rise and waken the day, then try to name a greater gift.

My husband has given me the gift of time with my young children by making the necessary sacrifices so I could stay at home with them.

My parents…..they were always the roll models in every way, everyday and they gave me the gift of knowing Jesus that I can now pass on to my children.

    • Maryanne

A few Christmas' ago I was pregnant with my first children(twins) and my mother made me a cookbook. I remember the years of opening her old cookbook up with recipes that her mother and church members had given and handwritten their special recipes. Seeing their handwriting and favorite recipes brought back amazing memories of the time spent with them. So for Christmas my mother made me a recipe book that she hand wrote in with all of our favorite recipes. That was my best present… Thanks Mom!

The best gift I ever received was from my inlaws. They were staying w/ us right after our daughter (our first) was born. It was our anniversary that weekend. They went out to dinner and let us have a romantic dinner at home with just us and our new 2wk old little girl. It was a wonderful memory that I will always cherish.

First, I would like to say this is a great idea! Just reading through all of the posts makes me so grateful for all the things I have (and sometimes forget to be thankful for! :).

The best gift I have ever received was from my great aunt. She loved me unconditionally and believed in me so much that I had to believe in myself, even when I had doubts. I am so thankful for her gift!

the best gift i've been given is salvation…thank you Jesus!

Not just one gift but several that I received from my Father on my birthday last year. He gave me a nice purple (he even remembered my favorite color!) raincoat, 2 hoodies one with a picture of a wolf on it that looks identical to my dog Hunter, an ice scraper & a can of de-icer (he told me he was worried about me because I had to leave for work at 5 AM and in the winter my windshield would be iced over and he was scared I would try to drive before thawing it out and not being able to see lol) And a beautiful yellow & white gold diamond ring! He told me when he was picking out the ring he told the clerk he wanted to buy his daughter something to remember him by particulary a ring. These gifts really meant a lot to me in so many ways. (My father has been crippled since he was 11 and he can barely walk even with his cane and over the years it has gotten so much worse because of arthritis setting in and just in the past 3 years he has been diagnosed with congestive heart failure. So he can't walk long or sometimes even short distances with out stopping and having to sit, catch his breath and rest a while.) My parents divorced when I was very young and I went to live with my Aunt – the only presents I received from my parents was money, never anything personal or from the heart. So imagine him going to these different stores and looking thru coats and clothes remembering my fave color and etc. just thinking about me and what I would need/want really meant a lot to me. I believe he got the ring because I had just gotten married 2 months before and during the rehearsal he told our preacher he WOULD NOT agree to saying that he is giving me away so my preacher had to completely leave out the part in the ceremony when he “Who gives this bride to be married” Because my Father flat refused to say he would! So I believe like my wedding band reminds me of my sanction of marriage with my husband, the ring my father gave me will ALWAYS symbolize to me no matter how old I am or what happens in my life I will always be my daddy's little girl! That was the best birthday and best gifts ever!

my in-laws have given me the best gift—house cleaning 2x/month after our 3rd baby was born! it has been such a huge help to me.

My third born son, Jordan, graduated to heaven almost 2 years ago after a battle with epitheliod sarcoma. He was a college basketball athlete and an awesome Christian young man. He is our hero. His “chemo angel” sent many, many cards and gifts to him. After his passing, around Christmas time she mailed a teardrop necklace to me with the inscription-“Heaven has in store that which thou has lost.” I have worn it so much and it encourages me to know Jordan is with the Lord and there will be a great reunion one day!

    • Christina

the best present i've ever received was my 8 week old shit-zu puppy, Brinkley!!! i had been begging my husband for a dog, but all of the ones we found were VERY expensive!! well, one day i was at work and my husband stopped by with…a tiny puppy!!! he had gotten a call from the SPCA saying new puppies were up for adoption (for only $50!!) and he went and picked one out for me right away (all without me knowing!!)…well, almost a year and a half later, and i don't know what i would do without this dog!! l.o.v.e him!!!

The best gift I ever received was a stand mixer and Wilton cake decorating classes from my Mom, sister, and husband. I have wanted a stand mixer since I was very young and desperately wanted to learn to decorate cakes, but wasn't very successful at teaching myself. I've taken the classes and I'm now making cakes for everyone I know and bringing in some extra income on the side for my family!

Of course my family:) But I also think about the wonderful mothers in my moms group who brought us dinner every night for 2 weeks after our baby was born. My moms group has been such a blessing in my familie's life for so many reasons! And then your website has been a blessing as well-helping me save our family money-and we need all the help we can get since my hubby works and I stay at home with our children!

I didn't see an age limit so mom said I could enter. The best gift I ever received was the one I gave. My parents asked what I wanted for Christmas when I was 7 yrs. old and I told them I wanted the money they would spend on me to feed the homeless. I wanted to see if mom was right, to see if it was better to give than to receive and it was. With moms help I cooked a full Christmas dinner and we took it to the shelter where we ate together with them. The smiles on their faces as we served them was a gift that touched my heart and can never be taken from me. I read the Christmas story to them even though I was not the best reader yet at 7 but they just smiled and seemed to really enjoy it. I did not give them a gift that day they gave me one! I still feed the shelter and receive a new gift from each person I meet there.
Thanks for letting me share my greatest gift story with you,
      Hannah H

I lost my son at 19 years old in a traffic accident on January 4th, 2009. A group of friends got together and made a scrapbook full of pictures and stories about their adventures with him and gave it to me a few months after it happened. It was so special to read their stories of what they did together and what they liked about him. Best gift….ever.

The best gift I ever received is my husband and my children. My son was 2 years old when I met my husband. We married a few years later and my husband adopted him. My son is now almost 12 and we also have a 14 month old girl. He has never treated my son any differently than our daughter. He is the most family oriented person I have ever met. His life revolves around us and our children and he says he wouldn't have it any other way. I am now a stay at home mom, but he will call after he has worked an 11 hour day and ask me “How was your day?” That is just the kind of man he is. He is 37 years old and still talks to his parents almost every day and I have never heard him hang up the phone without telling them he loves them.I thank God for my husband and my children every day. They are truly the greatest gift I have ever received, given by GOD!

    • Hgarrity

My children. I love them more than anything!

    • Angela

My greatest gift ever was the angel that I held in my arms for only a few hours. Matthew had Trisomy 18, and at 29 weeks I went into labor. Holding him, knowing that he was already in the arms of our Lord, was truly an honor.

    • dealfinder86

The best, or most thoughtful, gift that I have received is a set of my grandmother's flannel pajamas my aunt gave me at my lingerie shower!!! When I was a little girl I would spend the night with my grandmother and I always loved to wear her pajamas (even though they were entirely to big for me) My grandmother has since passed away, and it is nice to have her pajamas that I also wore as a little girl! It brought back so many memories, at a special time in my life!

    • scrcline

The best gift I every received was my daughter. My husband and I tried for years to start a family. We went through several rounds of treatments and a very devastating failed adoption. Then God blessed us as I found out I was pregnant. I can't think of a better gift than that. I thank HIM everyday for his grace.

    • MW4

Hands down…best gift ever is SALVATION through my Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. As far as thanking HIM, I try to daily, and can't wait for the day when I get to do so personally!

The best gift I ever recieved is my Mother. Growing up I thought she was corny, but always fun! Now that I am a Mom myself I constantly reflect on how much my Mom sacrificed, how much knowledge she gave me, and how frugal she truly was!
I don't know what I would do without the internet, but back in the day my Mom always had fun and educational activities, and she knew a song for everything.

The greatest gift I ever received was a 90 min massage from my kids on Mother's Day.

My one year old twin girls were the greatest gift I ever received. They are my world now.

    • DJohnson

A Bible given to me by one of the volunteers in my youth group when I turned 16. I don't know how she afforded it but it's something I just can't seem to part with even though half of my new testament is fallen out and I hold everything together with a large hair band :)

    • My husband has been the best gift in my life! :) Our pets are pretty precious to me, too. Fred the immortal turtle, and Smokey and Bandit, the cats. Such a pleasant and fun household. Quite entertaining, too.

    • Wk

We have all received many gifts in our lifetime, but I have to say that the VERY FIRST thing that came to my mind as the best GIFT I ever received is the gift of Salvation. I received this gift when I was 18 years old…many, many years ago when I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior and put my life in His hands. It's a gift that can never be taken away from me no matter what life may bring. Thank you God for sending Jesus to die on the cross for my sins and thank you Jesus for taking my punishment and preparing a place for me in Heaven.

    • Alanew

The best gift I received was a CD my husband made me for our 15 wedding anniversary. At this point we had enough money to buy each other nicer gifts. But he took the time to make a CD that had “our song” on it from many years before… I didn't realize he even remembered. The best part was it was waiting for me in the car when I was rushing off to work. What a nice way to start your day!

The best gift I ever received is a mother's love, not only the love given to me by my mother, but giving my love to my three children.

The best gift I have ever received was from my husband. I cherish the Christmas holidays so much. The music, the lights, the entire Christmas spirit overwhelms me. I had told my husband, many years ago, that as a child I repeatedly asked my dad to take me to New York for Christmas. I wanted to see the lights and the tree in Rockefeller Center. Now keep in mind, my dad retired from Delta Airlines so we could fly free. My dad never took me. Well years later, my husband surprised me with a trip to New York for Christmas. He arranged every small detail, including asking my boss if I could take the time off, the flight and hotel, the daily activities which included my dreamed about trip to Rockefeller Center to see the beautiful Christmas tree, a visit to see Santa at Macy's….all of the wonderful things we could possibly do to engage in the Christmas holidays!! It was the most thoughtful gift I had ever received!! I received this gift back in 2001 and each time i think of Christmas, I remember this gift and how it made me feel so loved!! I strive to gift the same thoughtfulness to my husband each day and to always make him feel as loved as he has made me feel.

THE BEST GIFT I WAS EVER GIVEN WAS A NEW CAR FROM MY HUBBY. I THEN RETURNED THE FAVOR A COUPLE YEARS LATER.

The greatest gift I ever got was Jesus Chris. He started by giving his life for me (and you) and continued by giving me life, wonderful parents, a husband like no other and five awsome kids.

    • SSheila

The best gift I have ever received would be my son! But, I also received my grandmothers wedding band after she past. It is so special to me.

    • Randine

My Mom gave me her gift of Faith. I was able to thank her four months ago, days before she died.

    • piper

For my 30th birthday, my husband emailed all my friends and family and asked them to write something about me, or to me, or a favorite memory of me. He made it into a little booklet with pictures to go along with the stories. I cried all the way through reading it!! I have 4 kids under the age of 6…and sometimes it feels like all I am is a mom. But that gift helps me remember, in the busyness of life with little kids, that I am still loved by so many other people as a friend, a daughter, a sister, a babysitter, a granddaughter, a sister-in-law, a teacher, a teammate…etc…and most of all, a wife!

an antique locket from my then boyfriend (now husband) who put our pictures on the inside and had the back of it engraved. will forever be a treasure!

    • Joyjones2727

Seven years ago I was pregnant with my fourth child when the man I married left us due to an addiction. Five and 1/2 years later I finished nursing school and was praying for someone who would share life with me! Someone who would help the heal the pain and love my kids the way I do. As I was told this would never happen. The best gift was from God as he answered my prayers and gave me an amazing husband!

    • Marthakammerer

The best gift I ever recieved was giving my son the chance to live. When I was pregnant with him, We were told by the doc's to have a abortion. See he was vary sick before he was born. He had fifths desease. Most babys do not live, and are miscarried. he still to this day has problems with his health, but I have enjoyed these last twelve. I look forward to the rest of his life. I tell him everyday. (Have I told you that I love you today)The gift of life, what a Gift.

    • Beck7472

It would have to be a gift card to Wal-Mart. I gave it to a friend who was struggling.

    • Melodystanfield

If you do a “good Deed” for anyone, a “thank you” should be enough. Letting the person know that you do appreciate a job well done should be the only “Gift” you need. And Thank you for helping us save money every week and updates to your site!!

    • Jane_blake

My favorite gift was given to me by my sister when I was pregnant with my son. I had already received so many baby gifts that when she asked what I still needed I told her that I didn't need anything. I didn't realize that what she would give me would be my favorite gift because it lasts a lifetime. She decorated a baby scrapbook for me (from scratch, not one of the kits now available), and all I had to do was put in the pictures as I got them. This was 11 years ago before scrapbooking was so popular.

    • Shawn

The best gift I've ever received was from my husband when I was 8 months pregnant. It was June and VERY HOT! This was my 3rd pregnancy and I had worn the same maternity clothes for all my pregnancies. Well, it was getting towards the end and I had pretty much outgrown all the shorts I had. I refused to go buy more since I knew I only had a month left and this was going to be the last baby. My sweet, sweet husband read between the lines (which we all know most men can't do) and brought home 4 new summer maternity dresses. He paid full price knowing I wouldn't be wearing them long. He also chose dresses b/c he thought it would be cooler. He is my sweet, thoughtful husband and I love him so much! I donated all my maternity clothes, along with the new dresses to Daybreak Crisis Pregnancy Center.

My best gifts usually come from my Mom. She says to find something for me, she looks for something she'd really like.

    • Jennleath

The best gift ever came from my husband's grandmother…a down payment on our 1st house!!!

    • Ana Maria S.

The best gift I ever received was from my boyfriend of 5 months Alan (before he died in a car wreck in Dec. 2001) not only did he bring me to church and I accepted Jesus as my Lord & Savior (I was 18) but he also introduced me to my husband (his best friend). Matthew & I will be celebrating our 7th wedding anniversary on Aug. 2nd & have 3 beautiful children together :)

      • Sims8903

Wow! That is an amazing gift. Leading someone to the Lord is the best work you could ever do!

The best gift was from my husband, who moved us to NC and gave me the opportunity to stay home with my children as a full time mom! It's the best job I ever had!

    • Jackaboo

The best gift my husband and I ever received was for Christmas last year. He had lost his job and he did not have prospects. His grandparents gave us money for Christmas to get us through.

    • Amber

The best gift I have ever received is one that was free! UNCONDITIONAL LOVE from my dad has molded me into the woman I am today. He has given to others all of my life. (money, time, you name it…) I have watched him love so many people with open arms. And for that, I am forever grateful and will forever give to others.

    • Amanda

The best gift I received was from a friend—she told me about Southern Savers! I get so excited about saving and coupons, and this site is so helpful! I have passed it along to many other family members and friends.

My central a/c unit went out and I wasn't going to have the money to get it repaired for a while. So, a friend of mine bought a portable a/c for me – almost $400. What a friend, right!!!

my husband and I have struggled with getting pregnant for 4.5 years. (since our one year anniversary) BUT after fertility treatments (months worth) we are now 31 weeks preg. SO.. by far… the best gift EVER is my husband blessing me with my DAUGHTER!!!

This is an easy one! On the day of our wedding my husband gave me my dream car as a wedding present! A Lexus SUV, I was so happy I couldn't even speak! We have been married for 3 years now and that is one car I will drive until the wheels fall off!

    • Heidi

I'm watching my “best gift” play with his legos right now. My 2 year old son continues to be such a blessing and joy in my life, and my husband and I are so thankful to God for giving him to us.

    • Sgower

The best gift I ever recieved was my two healthy and beautiful children. After each birth my mother helped out my husband and me by staying at our house for a week. She wanted to give us quality time with the new baby so she cleaned, made our meals, did laundry, etc. so all we had to concentrate on was the baby. WONDERFUL!!

I would most likely give the prize to my neighbor who is a single mother struggling to make ends meet. She works two jobs to pay her bills and as soon as she catches up her car breaks down or something unexpected happens. She is right back in the hole again. She is also a wonderful mom to two teenage daughters who babysit my children often. They deserve to have a “happy” unexpected something :)

    • Music88teach

I believe the best gift I ever received was my piano. My parents (Santa) gave it to me when I was 10 yrs. old. I took lessons all through school and majored in music (piano) in college. I'll always have my music. No one can take it away from me. I guess you could say really the gift of music was my best gift.

    • Jennifer_1021

The best gift I ever received was my camera from my husband. I love taking pictures and he bought me a Canon Rebel xTi so I could take better pictures, especially sports ones of my son playing soccer!

    • Mary Alice

The best gift I received was the love from my husband and our son. All I ever wanted was to be a wife and mother. Without going into all of the details, I was married once before to a very not nice man who treated me rather badly. I, of course, found all of this out shortly after we were married.) Fortunately, I was able to get out of the marriage and I met my current husband. My husband Dan “put me back together.” He saw me through a very rough patch in my life where I felt damaged and hopeless and not only did he love me for who I was (and he taught me to love myself again), but he helped me achieve my dream by asking me to marry him and giving me our beautiful 9 month old son.

    • Michele

My husband installs and refinished wood floors. The end of last year and beginning of this year was rough, some weeks he did not have any work. We were struggling trying to make ends meet wih 2 little boys. We received an anonymous check in the mail for $1,000. We cried. We are certain of who sent it to us and “anonymously” thanked them for helping us out in our time of need.

    • Aprilbpowell

The best I every received was made for me. I missed the drive-in movies my family used to go see when I was growing up. I had talked several times about it to my husband. One night for my birthday he decorated our garage with streamers and balloons and hooked up his Television in the garage. I had to close my eyes when we drove in and when I opened them I had my very own personal drive-in. I LOVED it!!

    • Gracie

This may sound kind of dorky to some. But the best gift I have recieved has been giving away! The joy it brings to me has been more then the gift we (husband & I) were able to give. Last November we supplied a lady & her son a months worth of free groceries. Of all the things we gave her it was the laundry detergant and a candle that my 5 year old daughter gave her that brought her to tears. She thought we were bringing her a turkey to cook for Thanksgiving and suprised her with all that food. She had been homeless before so needless to say she was very grateful! And, then again we were able to supply a lady recently with groceries to last about 7-10 days. Because of couponing and your site we are able to not think twice about supplying someone in need of food. Becasue of your hard work (and I'm sure many others), I don't think you probably realize just how many people you are reaching in so many ways. THANK YOU!

    • Jill Coffey

The best gift I ever received was from my daughter. She gave me my first grandson at first I was not so sure I was old enough to be a grandmother but now I have not only a grandson but a best friend. There is just nothing like being a grandmother.

    • Bou122

This was the best! My ex-husband was going to surprise the family and have my son, Michael, in the Marines sent home for Thanksgiving last year. (I found out, but didn't tell my side of the family) He's a twin and when he arrived at my mom's house we hid the other twin and when they figured it out everyone cried, even me! It was the absolute best gift in the world! Both of them are gone now, one in Texas and one in Japan! Would love to do it again!

The best gift I have received was on my 37th birthday. My mother-in-law who hates to cook and entertain, invited several family members over to the house and she cooked a fabulous dinner for me. We ate out on the screened in deck and she had everything decorated for me in fun Hawaii decorations. I felt so special that day ! She really went out of her way to make my day.

The best gift I ever got was when my parents took me and my family to Grand Cayman for a family vacation! They used their air miles and time share to fly us over and rent us a condo. The kids had sooo much fun; my daughter still asks when we are going back! Even my husband said that the trip with his in laws was the best trip he ever took!

    • Rachel

The best gift that I received (other than my children, of course!) would be when my MIL paid for two months of housekeeping services after the birth of my triplets! Of course, it took them 2 years to go away, but it was great while it lasted!

    • katie

The best gifts are the ones my children make…this year they made posters and marched outside in the front year at 7am singing happy birthday! PRICELESS!

    • Heidi

My parents surprised me with a refurnished bedroom when I went home for the summer after my first year of college. Of course that was years ago and I no longer live with my parents. The furniture is still at my parents's and they use it for their guest bedroom. But I always thought it was so nice of them to welcome me back with beautiful new furniture!

The best gift I ever received was a series of small treasure my boyfriend hid for me in a sort of “treasure hunt”, and each one led to the next, the last ultimately leading to him where he asked me to marry him. Yes. It was the best! A fairy tale come true.

    • Tanya W

My Husband when we where just dating he payed off my car for me and gave to the tile as a gift.

    • Melanie

The best “non-material” gift I ever received was when Jesus knocked on my heart and offered me the gift of salvation! Nothing can top that! Thinking back to my best “material” gift, it would be my gift for graduation high school – a trip to NYC! For a 17 year old country girl at the time, it was certainly an experience!

    • Csoble1214

The best gift I ever recieved was from my mom and step-dad. They knew I was lonely after just moving out of their house and was scared living on my own. They hid Cole for 2 weeks and gave him to me 2 days before Christmas. He is the best dog ever!

The other best gift is that my mom had a gigantic quilt made from all of my soccer and softball jerseys from 12 years of teams! It is enormous but that is one of my most treasured posessions!

Best gift I ever got was a housekeeper 2x a month to mop/scrub my floors when I was pregnant with my 3rd child – I couldn't really see the floor to clean it and when I got down on the floor – it almost took a crane to get back up!!!

    • Angie Haines

When I was nine, my dad was killed in a boating accident. He was a beloved pastor of a small congregation in Chestnut Mound, TN and felt that the best witness he could be was to work with his congregation in their tobacco fields or to spend time with them doing something they enjoyed. When my dad was killed, he was fishing with a man who wouldn't come to church with his family and didn't claim to know Jesus, but he loved to fish, so my dad just spent time fishing with him. The boat tipped over and my dad was caught up in the anchor. The other man didn't swim very well and my dad told him to save himself that he was going to be with The Lord. Two years ago my grandmother passed away and I was given my dad's study bible. I thought that was the best gift ever until I learned that the man with whom my dad had been fishing had since accepted Christ as his personal savior. That was the best gift ever knowing my dad didn't die in vain, but essentially gave his life for another.

      • LilNavyWife

One of the best gifts I've received was on May 11, 2007 when Dr. Bradley and his nurse Cathy came to the PCICU waiting and told us that our two week old son's open heart surgery went very well and he was on his way to a full recovery!

If I won, I would give a gift to my mom who taught me about God's love. Without her solid teaching and guidance, I would not be the person I am today. She needs and deserves a little something nice in her life!

When my husband and I were engaged, my in-laws bought us a brand new stainless steel refrigerator/freezer and a brand new h.e. washer and dryer. All my husband had was a minifrige and I didn't have anything since I've lived with my parents all my life. It was SUCH a blessing. :)

When I was little, my grandpa made me a two story wooden doll house complete with little doll furniture like beds, tables, and chairs. My grandmother made pillows, bed spreads, and cushions for the furniture. I cannot even begin to imagine how much time they must have put into that working on it for me.

A couple of years ago my husband got me the internet for Valentine's day. As a stay at home mom, I think the internet is a necessity. I am able to find awesome deals, thanks to Southen Savers.

    • Lynda

This July, my father gave me “the first diamond” he ever gave my mom. My mom passed away 10 years ago while waiting on a lung transplant. It is a small diamond in a white gold setting in the center of a starburst. Nothing special to look at, however, my mom was so proud of her diamond and she wore her it all the time. They were 18 years old when they got married and they didn't have a lot of money. It was several years after they were married that she received the diamond. My mom had a simple white gold wedding band, but she did not have an engagement ring until I was in the 7th grade. She received tons of diamonds, however, none were as meaningful to my mom or dad than her “first diamond”. My dad fastened the diamond pendant around my neck and I wear it everyday in rememberance of my mother.

    • Jfanning3

I will never forget the best gift I ever recieved. I had married young and had 3 children. I had never in my life had my drivers permit. I was going through a divorce and financially struggling on top of being stranded. My sister drove up in a minivan she had bought for me and promptly taught me how to drive. I will never forget that day, or the freedom she brought to my life.I still get teary eyed anytime I reflect upon that day, as she did not have much more financially than I did, but she gave it to me anyway.

I reunite birthfamilies and their children. I had a lady in NY contact me looking for her two brothers, I found one in March and today I received a message from the one brother I found that he is indeed the other missing brother. So a sister, and two brothers have been reunited with their birthmom, who they had never known and she is almost 84 years old. We had previously found the birthmom two years ago. Today was the best gift in knowing that after 55 years she now has the babies she was forced to relinquish. Now that's a gift and a blessing!

    • Amber

I volunteered for a couple years on the Arabian Peninsula. My parents and sister spent thousands of dollars to come visit me. I only saw them for a week over the course of those two years but it was the most precious week.

    • marylee

This is a hard one as we have been blessed beyond words, but I'll have to say the best gift I ever receive are when we get the call that my son's MRI's are clear and that he remains cancer free – we have them every 6 months – he was dx at age 4 and just turned 8 in May. We cannot buy the health of our children or loved ones – never, ever take it for granted. Every breath he takes each day is my most precious gift without a doubt ….. all 3 of my sweeties are my most precious gift (and my husband as well :)). I so appreciate this sight as it has helped tremendously with our being able to put more money towards medical expenses and less towards the daily cost of living – blessings to you Jenni for all you do!

    • ivegotcutekids

I was just thinking the other day about my aunt and uncle giving me a gallon bag of muscadine grapes every year on my birthday, because they knew how much I loved to eat them from their vine when I'd go to visit. It was something so simple, but it really stands out in my memory.

    • Taylor1351

My husband is not the most romantic person, so when our daughter was born, and he gave me a ring and informed me this was a gift for our daughter and for me, I was very surprised. It was a beautiful sapphire ring, deep blue in color. His plan is that I will wear it until her wedding day, and will pass it along to her. It will be her “something old (as hopefully it will be 20+ years old), her something new, and her something blue”, so she will only need a something borrowed. On top of that it is her birthstone. It will be so neat for Logan to see this ring on my finger throughout her life, not knowing its final resting place will be her finger not mine. I was so impressed and surprised with the thought he put into the gift. He is amazing!

“A signed piece of paper”. Not being able to have children I decided to become a single mother, foster parent. I received a call from a social worker wanting me to foster a four year old little girl. It happened to be the little girls 4th birthday. The first question the little girl asked was , “are you my new mommy?” A year later that same social worker signed approval for me to adopt the four year old little girl. Every year on November 9th I send a thank you to the social worker for the gift she gave me that keeps on giving. A signed piece of paper became a forever family.

My precious baby girl and husband. Also, a picture of my pawpaw. I Love It.

    • The best gift I ever received was finding out that my mom survived her triple bypass surgery. Amid many complications and a lot of bad luck her chances were less than 2%. My mother is my best friend and I spend everyday with her so it was devestating to think that I would be without her this early in life. After many prayers and thanks to many wonderful doctors and ultimately the Grace of God my mom pulled through. The best gift is having her here every day.

    • Jess

My wonderful husband and two precious children fill my heart everyday;) It is virtually impossible to think of anything better than the love they show me on a daily basis!

    • Gifteddona

The best gift I have ever received was from my parents. I am the middle of 7 children, bon in less than 10 years so I grew up with frugality. Hand-me-downs were the clothes we wore, we had 3 pairs of shoes (church, school and sneakers) and we never threw out any food. Mom fed 9 of us for the amount it costs the two of them to eat these days. i
I have never understood why others did not do these simple things I grew up with to save money. But I know they did not the foundation of thriftiness, recycling (before it was even a word) and thankfulness. If you are hungry, anything you get for dinner is delicious!
So, I would like to than my mom and dad, Jeanne and Bill Flood for all the sacrifices they made while we were growing up and for instilling in us a sense of frugality and joy in finding a great deal. I still delight in that today as I save 50-75% every time I shop.
Thanks, Mom(almost 85) and Dad (almost 88). You are the best!!!

    • Teely68

A blood transfusion. I wouldn't be here without it :-)

    • Sandra

The best gift I ever received was my grandson from my daughter.

    • Jennifer

The best gift I ever received was from a dear friend of my father. My father passed away unexpectedly almost ten years ago. At the funeral, my father's dear friend gave me a folder with a heartfelt letter from him about my Dad and what a special relationship we had. He also included the sheet music from all music played during the services and pictures of the two of us throughout the years, some of which I had never seen. I still have that folder and cherish it more than the giver will ever know.

    • Kelliethequeen

My mom gave me a picture of me and my husband that was a picture of a boy and girl bride and groom that she had made from some elem. school pictures. It is the best and most creative gift ever given to me. You can get one too. She sent the elem school pics to website and they create the picture. Too cute!

    • Landoffour

the gift of my salvation number one and then the precious gift of friendship from my best friend who has been dealing with the death of her mother and some financial difficulties but during all of that was still right there for me when I had to have emergency surgery!

    • Ssexton1997

The best gift I recieved was my Salvation through Jesus Christ. My Aunt shared the story with me when I was nine years old.

    • Ericastinnett

The best gift I ever received was my engagement ring from my husband!

    • Erin B

I'm going to be cheesey and say the best give I've ever received is my engagment ring from my husband! And I tell him thank you all the time :)

    • Laurie M

The best gift is my baby maltese Trooper. He was my birthday gift from my husband and the entire family loves him to death!

    • Fullofjoy725

There are so many, I don't know which to choose! By far, The Lord Jesus Christ coming to fill my heart! Secondly, my second love (my hubby), and my third love (my children)..If I had to pick a physical gift, I would say the most precious gift was a cruise from my mother & father in law for our 7th anniversary because my husband and i never got a honeymoon!

    • Merceclub

The best gift I ever had was a Starbucks cup of coffee from my coworker. I had started a new job and everyone there was not friendly at all. There was a lot of tension in the air so I always kept to myself inside my cubicle. One morning, a new girl who had recently started working there, showed up in my cublicle with a Starsbuck cup of coffee and gave it to me. That really warmed my heart and since then, we have been best friends. We continued sharing coffees and breakfasts and lunches and became inseparable at work. We no longer work at this place but we still keep in touch and get together from time to time. She is still my best friend, thanks to a Starbucks cup of coffee, a gift of true friendship.

    • lesliej

The best gift I ever received was a bicycle from “Santa” when I was around 4 years old. I was so entirely surprised and my dad even got a picture of my reaction. I had no idea the sacrifice they had to make to give that bike to me, but as a parent now, I imagine that the look on my face was worth every bit of it. They are both gone now, but live in my memories and heart daily.

    • Kristen

I would have to say my beautiful son Seth… after a kidney infection when I was 6 1/2 months , which led to preterm labor, luckily I was able to go full term with a 18 hour labor and a few complications like a collapsed lung… he truly is my GIFT from GOD !!!

He is now a healthy thriving little 9 month with no problems :)

    • Heidi M

When I turned 5 my Dad went out and picked out a shirt for me for my birthday. My Dad is not a very sappy sentimental guy so I think to this day that is one of the only gifts he has actually picked out for me himself as opposed to my gifts being chosen and purchased for me by my mom. I still have that shirt in my bottom drawer, it means the world to me!

    • Jessiree

The best gift I've received was the birth of me niece. Her mother is rarely around and almost decided to terminate the pregnancy. My parents adopted her shortly after she was born (so she's sort of my sister-niece!) and she's the most special little girl in the world!

    • janiegrl

The best gift i ever received was an engagement ring from my husband :) Weve been married 2 years now and have a new baby girl and it has been wonderful!

    • Melissa M

My children, I thank my husband and God everyday.

    • My husband and I have now been married a little over a year. A couple of months into our marriage we adopted 2 dogs from a local animal shelter. I used to all the time guess what breed of dogs my two babies are. I would see a new breed of dog and decide one of my dogs had to be it. Well, for our anniversary this year he had doggy DNA done so now we know what they are. So thoughtful. Also, he did not give this to me but 2 years ago my sister in law moved to south america. My mother in law was very upset about this and my husband got both of them really nice web cameras so they could still see each other.

    • Correne

My surprise engagement ring from my husband! :)We just celebrated our 3rd wedding anniversary July 14th!

I let a customer’s daughter from Italy’s live with me during one summer while she was doing an internship in New York; hotels in New York are very pricey. I didn’t want any payment. After she left he mailed me a Fendi bag I was in shock I never had something so pricey. That was about 10 years ago, I still have the bag. And love it.

My mom bought me a star and named it after me. I thought that was real cool since it's about the only way my name will end up in history.

My son is the best gift that I have ever received!

    • Christmas 2007 – my daughter survived, and we were allowed to bring our then 9 month old son into PICU for a visit so we got to spend some time together as a family on Christmas Day. I thank God almost daily!

When I turned 12 I was living in Mexico where my parents were missionaries (that was 25 years ago) and my mother still lives and works there now. (My father passed away 6 years ago on August 15th. Anyway, my parenst had buldt and runa chidlren's home. At that particular time money was low. There was no money for presents or anything. My mother went ot so much rtrouble making one of my favorite meals (panuchos–made of masa–corn flour–she didn't even have money for the chicken). She worked so hard to make it special. It was the nicest thing that my mother could have done. I will never forget that meal.

    • Leah

My wonderful family! I would be lost without my husband and three girls!

    • Summs78

My baby boy said “momma” for the very first time on Mother's Day this year…it was priceless!

    • Absutton

Of course my husband and son are the best gifts god could ever give me but material wise…Every year 5 of us women go away 2 times a year…well in Dec 2008 I lost my job and when my sister called me to confirm that I was going this October 2010 I had to tell her no…we were both really sad (because since we live so far apart we don't get to see each other often) after we hung up a few minutes later I got a call back from her saying that her and my brother-in-law talked and they bought my plane ticket and paying for my share to stay that I was not going to miss out on this. Isn't this sweet. I have the best sister in the world. She does this thing for people all the time. I really would love to surprise her with a surprise. God granted me a great family and a wonderful sister.

A new pair of shoes for Mother's Day. I can only usually wear Tennis Shoes because my legs are so bad and I need the support. My children had seen me liking these shoes and trying them on but they were too expensive, I would never spend that much for myself. I was so surprised when I opened my present on Mother's Day and found them.

    • Peggy

Healing for my brother…at 27 he broke his neck, both his legs in a car accident. He endured a year and a half of intensive physical therapy, and he will tell you there is no such thing as a disability…We all only have degrees of ABILITY. He is more ABle than anyone I know. I have been inspired everyday.

    • Erika C.

My sister was born on my first birthday. Best birthday present EVER!

The best gift I ever received was my dog, Dottie. She was a gift from my husband. :-)

For our wedding we received these wonderful swarovski crystal wine glasses from our best friends Racheal and Louie. Everytime I see them I'm reminded of them and our special day :)

    • Tammyla

For our first Valentine's together my sweet husband gave me a trip to Disneyworld. We had so much fun. I had never been before.

    • Chellep78

One of the best, was having my 15 year old godson regain his mobility and walk again after breaking his neck in a wrestling practice at the local high school. His parents, family and friends have been through some hard times, but seeing him walk again was a GREAT gift from God!

    • Ccobarr

I know this is going to sound strange, but the best gift I ever received was a side of beef! Yes, I said beef. My parents order a beef every year and then they don't have to buy any roast, steaks, cubed steak or ground beef for another year. One year they asked my sister and I (both of us married with families) if we wanted to go in and split a side with each other. The problem was we did not know what the final price would be ahead of time. Well, we got the beef to put in our freezers around thanksgiving and we kept asking mom for the bill. She would just say that they had not yet received the it. We were getting anxious and a little perturbed at the delay. On Christmas day when we began opening presents she gave us each and envelope and said “I think you should open this one first”. Inside was a bill stamped “PAID” and big Merry Christmas! That was a huge relief and it turned out that the price was very reasonable per pound! This has now become our yearly BIG Christmas gift from our parents and we are always extremely grateful!!

When my mom who is 93 was a little girl they made there own toys. She collect chewing gum wrapper and took the shinny part of and starting rolling in into a ball. She did this for years and it was almost as big as a golf ball. There was 5 of us girls and we would sneak and play with it and needles to say it about the size of a golf ball now. All 5 of us wanted it . One day when I saw her she reached over and took my hand and she put that ball in my hand and said it's yours. Of course there were other things the other 4 got and that ball would be nothing to anyone else but us girls. It is sitting proudly on my bookcase. Money could not buy that memory.

Years ago on my wedding day, my matron of honor gave me a present. It was the Vera Wang perfume I had been swooning over for months but I couldn't afford it. That was a very special moment for me!

    • Jenmason84

A few years back I got a a set of Rachel Ray cookware from my BIL, and was so shocked and I love them so much!

In February on my way home from church, a lady ran a red light and totaled my vehicle. My half sister GAVE me a paid off & immaculate Saturn Ion because she “wished that someone would have been able to bless her with a car when she was my age and didn't have one.” It's the most amazing gift I have ever been given and I can't wait for the day that I get to pass it on to someone else in need!

    • Cah33511

The best gift I ever recieved was when one of my girlfriends came to help after my son was born and offered to keep the baby with her for the entire night so I could get a full night of rest…bliss

    • Larissa

I was a teaacher in North Carolina and my students and parents worked together and made me a quilt with special drawings on it of each students. I was so surprised and it still means so much to me.

    • Jfmiller82

my cat was the best gift i have ever gotten. I got her as a kitten on mothers day. She is my first baby and I love her to death. That was nine years ago.

    • jhillpot

Wow, it's amazing reading everyone's stories. Such wonderful things people have done for each other out of love.

For me, I think the best present I've gotten was my birthday present this year. It was just a little piece of paper rolled up and tied with a ribbon, tucked into a small box. But on it my dad had written that I should consider my debt for the car I had bought from them to be paid. I'm in a financial rough patch at the moment, and it had been a very difficult day despite it being my birthday. For some reason it meant so much more to me that day than just the cancellation of the debt. It's the only gift I can remember bringing me to tears.

    • Debbie

The best gift I got was when my Mom took the whole family to Hawaii! It was so awesome to have the entire family together in a beautiful place.

    • LauraBo

The best gifts I have received are my 2 beautiful children!

    • Cristi

The best gift I ever got was from my two year old one morning last fall as we drove up to daycare. We had just finished singing…”Please don't take my sunshine away.” As I got out and opened the back door to take him out of the car, he stretched out his little arm and opened his fist. “Here Mommy. Here's your sunshine.”

My mom and dad passed away within ten months of each other…my dad had been expected, but my mom was a total shock. Mom and dad had a little mini dachshund that my brother and sister suggested that we give away. They had loved this little dog and I just couldn't give away one of the last things of my parents. My husband and I decided to adopt her. She has been such a fun and wonderful blessing to our family…the best gift I have ever gotten came from one of my little girl's best friends (who considers herself part of our family)…she used her own money to buy a sign that says “Weiner Dog X-ing” with a silhouette of dachshund on there. It is one of the first things you see when you come to our door. Taking the little dog into our home has been great and for an 8 year old to look and find something to help commemorate our “adopting” her was just precious!

    • Julie B

My daughter, who just turned one year old, is the best gift I've ever received. I love the idea of this giveaway! It is so wonderful to be able to give to others! :)

    • Donna

The best gift I have ever received was a special blessing from Hometown Heroes. They adopted our family when my son was fighting cancer. On Christmas Eve, my children got to go to Walmart and shop for something special. Not just my son with cancer but they wanted all the siblings to shop as well. This was a true blessing for our family.

    • Kathryn

Best gift I've ever received is life through Jesus & the wonderful blessing of my husband & daughter!

    • Connieb03

My kids are the greatest gift I could ever ask for!

    • Mercedes

Besides God, my children, and my husband, I would have to say the statue of a man and women in each others arms slow dancing. It was meant to represent our life and love…it was breathtaking!

    • Kristy

Someone (not family) gave me a car when I was 17!!

    • Stacy_alcorn

My three children were the best gifts. Because I can't carry to term, the gift from 2 wonderful surrogates of carrying them was the most special gift!!

    • Skittles123

I teach, and I have two small childen (19 months and 4 months). On a tight budget, childcare can get quite steep. My mother-in-law watches both babies for barely nothing. She and her family are also on a very tight budget, especially since my father-in-law lost his job and had to change professions and start back at the bottom. This is the best gift I could ever get. I go to work and know my kids are taken well care of. She would obviously be the person I would choose to give the gift to. I can't think of a better way to repay her! (Although… nothing could ever truly show her how much I appreciate her help!)

    • Debbie

Two things come to mind… Our daughter is a true gift from GOD. Just when we thought we'd never be blessed with a child, I became pregnant with her. She is our miracle baby. The other thing that comes to mind is a very special scrapbook made for me with love from my Mom — she had saved every newspaper clipping & photo from my childhood years of showing horses and used them to make this beautiful memory keeper for me.

    • Sdavisva

      Salvation, through Christ alone!

    • Heather

A day bed from my parents, before that I had a cot that fit in the galley the kitchen. It was great to have a bed (in the livingroom) that didn't need to be fold up and put away every morning.

    • 12 years ago for my college graduation my mother gave me a necklace with a small charm in the shape of my first initial. It is timeless and always reminds me of her.

    • PriscillaRN

Jesus is the most precious gift of all~ I also received a bottle of lotion from my youngest son when he was three. He was in a store and smelled some Cucumber Melon lotion and thought it smelled like me.

    • Scapazzi

I was having dinner with my family and a good friend and her family. The kids were all dancing around having a good time with the live music. This older couple kept staring at us and we thought the kids were starting to annoy them. We tried to calm them down but to no avail. We got ready to leave and asked for the check only to be told that the couple that was staring at us had picked up our entire tab including the tip! We were at Bubba's in Savannah so it was not cheap! We asked the wait staff to see if they were regulars so that we could find a way to thank them and never did. I have never forgotten the kindness of those strangers and I strive to become debt free so that I can one day bless another family!

    • Ruth

Our first Christmas together my (now) husband gave me a diamond tennis bracelet. There is no way he could have known that it is the only piece of jewelry I have ever wanted, and I was completely blown away by the extravagance of it–we weren't even engaged at the time! 6 years and 2 kids later, I still wear it every single day.

    • Sspeller

The best gift I ever got (obviously other than Jesus) was my two little boys. Both of them were born right before Christmas (3 years apart) and have brought me more joy and happiness that I ever knew was possible!!! I have been married for almost 18 years and still tell my husband all the time that he gave me the two best gifts I have ever been given…

    • Mini me

My best gift for me is to marry my wonderful husband and become a mother to my three terrific children.

    • Tfrost99

My Dad who passed away recently and very unexpectedly gave me the best present ever – a wonderful sister. She is much younger than me and at only 23 years old with 3 children she struggles on a very tight budget every day. I try to help her out whenever I can, but it would be wonderful to win a gift for her. I have introduced her to your website and she is working hard to save more money for her family to make things a little easier on them.

    • Mary Chris

When I adopted a four year old, there were many times I did not know what I needed. I had one friend who seemed to really get that and so many times she was right there at the door with what I needed. Several times she anticipated my need and prepared things before I even reached out to her. The best gift was when she knew I would be exhausted one night, so she made dessert and came over just after I put my son to bed. Then she stayed to chat and enjoy the dessert together. Funny how little things like that take on such meaning!

    • Reneesnest

My husband went clothes shopping for me one Christmas. I had not really had any new nice clothes in several years because I had been in maternity clothes or the in-between clothes you have before you lose all the baby weight. He went in an Ann Taylor store and when the sales girl asked him what size I wore he put out his hands in a circle, and said, “about this size”. The girl laughed and helped him the best she could and was in awe after Christmas when she saw us together and found out everything fit! (needless to say several of the girls remembered his purchase and how clueless they thought he was) Those clothes were the biggest and best surprise ever because my husband did it all on his own!

    • Sm7212

The birth of by wonderful daughter. Thank you God for all of your blessings. They show in the smile on her face and giggle in her belly.

    • Lori V.

One particularly rough Christmas, we could hardly afford to purchase gifts for our children. The church we were members of at the time, had a special time of greeting just before the service began. As we were walking around greeting and chatting with other members, someone slipped $500 in my husband's Bible! Even today, almost 12 years later, we still have no idea who the anonymous giver could have been.

    • Kammy

My daughter gave me a snow globe that had the skyline from my hometown of Raleigh, NC. Not only did it have all the great buildings from downtown Raleigh represented, it plays my all time favorite song, “What A Wonderful World”. It was the perfect gift and I don't think I'll ever get a material gift that could mean more to me.

    • Denise

The best gift I ever recieved was a tennis bracelet from my husband on our 7th anniversary. At the time I was a waitress and he made sure it was the sturdiest one they had so that I wouldn't be afraid to wear it everyday, even to work. I wear it everyday.

    • Carol

The best gift I've received is the time I have right now with my dad. We found out a few weeks ago that he has stage 4, terminal cancer. It is still shocking, but I am so thankful that we have some time with him.

    • Julia

The best gift I ever received was a beautiful Young Chang baby grand piano! It was a surprise gift for Christmas a few years ago that my oldest brother gave me. He took me to the music store and let me decide which piano I wanted. I was so thrilled that I cried tears of joy! It is a beautiful high gloss black piano and it has the most beautiful sound and touch to it! I started playing the piano when I was 11 yrs. old and I am now 47 yrs. old
and a church pianist. I still can sit and play for hours at a time. God has blessed me with a musical talent that I just love!

    • Thecastelfamily

My husband had a sax player come to the house and play our song as an anniversary gift.

    • Amy

The best gift I ever received was the first thing my daughter had ever handmade me herself. It was for Mother's Day and it was only a pot holder with her thumbprints pressed onto it as ladybugs, but it just melted my heart that she made it herself. I will treasure it always.

    • Renee

Every year my son buys something for me from the school santa shop. No matter what it is I love it!!! I have a shelf that I am collecting all the gifts.

    • Mstokes18

My husband surprised me one year with a new wedding ring and band. I was so shocked! That definitely was the best material gift I've received.

    • Sue

The best gift I ever received was a glass rose that was only 4 inches perched on a mirror. The rose was deep red and everything else clear. My mother gave it to me on my birthday after she decided to quit dialysis when she was 94. She died 5 days later. It was a simple gift filled with her love and spirit. I'll treasure it forever.

    • June

We didn't have a lot of money when I was a child. My mom was homemaker and dad worked in a cotton mill–even lots of overtime. There were four of us girls. One of the best gifts I ever received was a small transistor radio-my dad came home with on my birthday–just because he went and picked it out by himself!

    • Catherine

The best gift I've received was a paid for facial when I was just a couple of months pregnant and emotional that my husband had left for the weekend to have fun. He called me and surprised me with an appointment time.

    • Pam

The greatest gift anyone gave me came from my grandmother. She took me to church every Sunday and taught me how to pray. The greatest gift I ever receieved was her gift of Faith. Now that she is 89 and has alzheimer's disease, I try to return the gift by praying with her, singing the hymns she taught me, and reminding her that her present state is not her “forever-home.”

    • Beth

      An electric guitar.

    • Sriddle68

The best gift that I ever received was at Christmas 2007. I had just had abdominal surgery and discovered that I had ovarian cancer. I was released from the hospital on Christmas morning and two girlfriends came to bring a Christmas dinner to my husband and me. It was so delicious and really hit the spot. The days was great! What better present than to go home on Christmas morning and then to received a delicious homecooked Christmas dinner in the afternoon!.

    • Ahealon

Christmas time…we all received gifts but my favorite was a Silver Quarter my dad got back in change at a store one day. He knows i collect coins and it was very thoughtful.

    • Whiteironhead

When my mother passed away earlier this year my older cousins, who had lost their mother (my mothers sister) several years ago, reminded me that there are so many things that will bring her wonderful memories back. Like the beauty of a garden with fresh veggies that she loved, or the smell of her homemade recipes that brings back my childhood. The gift they gave me is reassurance that she will never be far from me in my daily life and I hope to give my children the same memories. She was a saver and a bargin shopper and would have loved this coupon thing that I am addicted to.

    • Tina19691

The best gift was to see my cousins faces when my brother and I gave up our Christmas presents so our parents could buy for them. They were very poor living in Missouri and there was no money for them to get any gifts from their mother.

    • Fourfoxes

My most cherished gift is the Bible I got from my Dad for Christmas 1997. He passed away 3 days after that Christmas after a several month long battle with cancer. It will always be my favorite gift bc no matter how bad he felt he shopped for my gift anyway…he knew that was one thing I wanted and one thing I would always be able to use! Wish I could thank him…I would 100xs over!

    • Emarsh6711

Wow I am so blown away by all these wonderful stories. Thank you Jenny for having this giveaway it is a great gift.

    • Ann

I can't tell you how many times I've come home to find either holes in my house from my husbands projects! Of course, I was none to pleased. Well, for my 15 wedding anniversery, my husband sent me on a weekend trip with my daughter. When we got home, he had built me a huge gazbo with a Koi pond around it! It is my most favorite spot in my yard!

    • While on a weekend beach trip with my husband to celebrate an anniversary a few years ago, my wedding ring was stolen from our hotel room. I was super upset, but knew that eventually we would replace it…at the time we had just had our 2nd child, so it wouldn't be replaced any time soon.
A few weeks later my father-in-law found an beautiful ring through a friend of his and bought it for my mother-in-law. Before she could even have a chance to wear it (and fall in love with it) she called me and came over to give it to me…I was blown away, it is far more beautiful than anything I would've pick myself, and it means so much to me because of the way I got it..it was such a blessing.

Several years ago I had major knee surgery and a cast that was so thick and heavy it took two nurses just to lift it back on the stack of pillows when it would fall off. I have always been a big talker…and was put in a private room with no one to talk to and 75 miles away from home. We were building onto our house…so my husband had to be here during the days with the contractors and worked nights. My wonderful sister was caring for our two sons…along with her four children. I was really having a difficult time with the surgery and a few things going wrong….plus no one to talk to. The nurse came in and found me crying, she wanted to know what was wrong. There was an apparatus on my bed with a swing type thing for me to pull up in the bed with. I told the nurse, ” Well, I finally figured out what this thing on my bed is for. When you decide you aren't going to make it, crawl up there and hang your fool self.” It wasn't 10 minutes later my doctor appeared and had the nurses take that thing off my bed…assuming I was suicidal. :-) I finally called my sister and talked to her, trying not to cry, but couldn't control it any longer. She told me to just hold on and she would find some one to keep the kids and she would come be with me. When she came in…she handed me a cute little magnet of a teapot that said ” When life hands you lemons, make lemon tea.” It is a reminder to me everyday to make the best of every day. Since then, she has had a heart transplant and is now on the waiting list for a kidney transplant. They have a very hard time making ends meet with all the medical expenses…and plus her husband has parkinsons and alot of meds for him as well. Thank you for reading this and considering my sister has a nomination for your giveaway. By the way….my doctor still laughs about the fact that someone likes to talk so much…they go off the deep end when in a room alone. They put the thing back on the bed when my sister got there.

My son, from an honest, hard-working husband!

    • Rhonda

I stayed 6 weeks in the Ronald McDonald house while expecting my 1st child. The gift of charity is one of the best I've received and I'd love to be able to give more back.

    • quarleywoman

The best gift I ever received from a human was the gift of love from my husband, and the most thoughtful gift was the gift of some mats for me to stand on while quilting at my longarm machine also from my husband. He's a great giver of love and comfort.

    • Jennifer

The best gift that I have ever received would be a gift that my huband gave me almost 17 months ago…. Our son! It was an amazing experience and certainly not one I will ever forget! Having our son was the best thing that could have happened to us and I thank him all the time for giving me the gift of life and helping me create someone I never knew I could love so much.

    • Bamabobbie

The best gift was a precious mother. She loved me like no other ever could and I still miss her.

      • Bamabobbie

I should have said blessing instead of gift because she truly was a blessing from above.

    • Joan Alexander

I have been blessed and received many wonderful gifts from friends and family during my life, so this is a really hard question and I am thankful to be able to make that statement. After much deliberation, the one gift that keeps coming to the top of the list is a precious note one of my sons placed into my suitcase when I was going out of town for a girls getaway. I keep the note on my dresser to this day. He was about 9 when he wrote the note and it was written on a piece of notebook paper that he had torn in half (probably half of his homework?). The note reads, “have a great time at girls weekend Love, Jake OOO XXX”. He purposfully hid the note in my suitcase so that I would not find it until after I arrived at my destination. It brings a smile to my face every time I think about the moment I found it.

I have to say “My Family”. I have a wonderful husband, two sons and a granddaughter. I am also the youngest of seven children. We all live within five miles of each other and are always there for each other. We lost our Dad and one of our sisters within three months of each other four years ago, and the faith and family ties have helped us through these times difficult times. We all work together to take care of our Mom and our family business. There's no material thing in this world that can hold a candle to my family! We are so blessed!!

    • Julie

Jobs!!! God gave my husband and I both jobs this year after over 2 years of unemployment. Wahoo!

    • JCT

One of my favorite gifts is my great grandmother's punch bowl. It reminds me of the beautiful women in my family who have used it. I proudly display it in my kitchen and I can't wait to use at my daughters' weddings one day. They will be the 5th generation to use it.

    • Brandi_vickers

A few years ago, my husband's business was having some major financial problems and it was Christmas time. We had two children to buy gifts for and no money at all to spend. We had some very special friends who surprised us with a monetary gift that would cover Christmas and then some!! It was so special and generous….we can never thank them enough!

    • Caron

The best gift I ever received was a cookbook from my dear grandmother! She “hand-wrote” each of her favorite (and might I say delicious) recipes and bound them in a notebook and gave one to each of her granddaughters for Christmas several years ago.

She passed away last year at age 90! I miss her dearly, but I still cherish my special cookbook!

    • breaduh

So tough to decide! There are countless non-material gifts for which I am thankful. A couple of years ago at Christmas, however, we were praying to make it through. Not only was money so scarce we weren't sure we could make our bills through the holidays, much less buy gifts, but one of our children was struggling with a serious situation that was heartbreaking. Someone in our church anonymously gave us $2,500! It was a great blessing monetarily, of course, but also it came when we needed hope that our child's situation was in God's hands and HE would come through for our child, just like He did for our finances.

    • LL

finding out that my second baby was really two babies! Three years later they are such joys! Along with my first son, they are all the gifts I am most thankful for!

    • Melissa

My two beautiful girls are my favorite gifts!

where to begin… my mind keeps going back to a tragic event that happened to us just over a year ago, something that has changed our lives completely. Our only son died , he was 30 years old , they said he took his own life. I do not believe them, from all that we have been told, yet they still say he took his own life. I don't know if you can imagine the toll this takes on you as a parent, I can't even describe it in words, what it has done to us. So the gift I am thinking of comes out of this horrendously tragic happening in our life. You see we live off Disability, a small amount each month. Our son had no life insurance and we had no savings , so where was the money going to come from for our sons Funeral expenses. Our sons friends got together a benefit concert in his honor to help with the cost for us, and they raised enough to cover all the costs associated with our sons Memorial services. So for me and our family, that was the most recent greatest gift , it took some of the stress off of us , we didn't have to worry about how we would pay for the cost of the memorial services. And our dear friends took care of all the details for us, since we were not functioning well enough to do that. Our grief still continues, the void can't be filled. Life goes on and they say the grief eases with time, I hope they are right.

    • Gphoyt

Best gift I ever received was just some money to spend on myself. Out of the blue I realized I needed to buy oil paints with it, and it started a whole change of career and life.

    • Collinsbrad

One year for Christmas all I asked the kids for for Christmas was a picture of them all together. Our oldest was home from FL and our engaged daughter would be juggling all the different families the next Christmas so I knew it would be the last Christmas we would have them all home together for a while. Despite having an appt. the family before us took longer to photograph but our kids stuck in there despite the middle daughter needing to travel back to college, etc… The picture is a few years old but I proudly display it on the mantle and remember when………

    • Lauren

The best gift I've ever received was being able to go to an out of state university with all costs covered by my parents. Unlike many of my friends there, I graduated debt-free. Thank you mom and dad.

    • Couponingchrissy

It sounds cliche, but the gift from God of a beautiful healthy baby boy is the best gift I have ever recieved!

    • Georgia

a trip to Israel. Thank you birthright!

    • teardrop

I have to add: Having a son , even though it was only for 30 years , it was one of the most wonderful gifts in the world. I have this pair of earrings he made me that I cherish, he made them not too many months prior to his death, I watched as he made them for me out of some small sharks teeth he found diving, so those earrings are precious to me.

    • RebeccaFer

The best gift, hmmmm, that's hard. I've been blessed oh so much by God and others but to think of the ultimate best gift, is very difficult. I think my Dec 14 lil' girl born almost 6 years ago was the best of all bests but if I have to go with non-human being gifts, I think it would be a locket that folds and shows all my old neighbors. They gave it to me as a going away present and it was just so touching and memorable!

    • Cathy

That's easy. I have received 2 best gifts. My daughter, now 25, and my son (14 years later), now 11. Thank you, Lord!

    • Bvstarr

Aside from eternal life with my Heavenly Father, my best gift was that of our adopted daughter from Korea. She came home as our 10th anniversary present. Years before I had always asked for an anniversary ring, she was soooooo much better than that!

    • Heather

My Mom handmade every article of clothing I wore till I was twelve years old. I made a tragic decision to decide it was better to wear “Calvin Kleins” over her ornate dresses. When I was eighteen and heading off to college, she presented me with a quilt made from all those beautiful dresses. This is the greatest gift I will ever receive.

    • Martinbaby1

Each your my mother-in-law and father-in-law send me money for my birthday. We have had many slim years lately so getting that money is always so nice.

    • Kristinhungerford

The best gift I received (other than from family or God) was a bridal shower gift from a church friend. She gave me a laundry basket full of all the cleaners I would need to start my household . . . It was awesome!

    • Acmom

Best gifts- meeting my husband and having my daughter.

    • Pawstoreflect

Without hesitation, the greatest gift I have ever received was my beautiful almost three year old son. He is truly a gift from God and I thank God daily for this magnificent joy in my life.

    • Scooterandjack

The best gift for me in my life would be the fact that all my family is in good health and has agood life due to the grace of God. I thank God each day for the gift of life with family and friends and make more friends as we go thru life!

    • Kristy Zagami

My five children and their father, the love of my life, are without a doubt my greatest gifts. As for gifts that were give to me by other people, that would have to be my yearly Mother's Day gift from my older children. They give me the gift of time. Yes, time! The older three take turns every Saturday morning getting up early and watching the younger two so that I can go to yard sales. I love yard sales and it is the only “mommy time” I get or need. I homeschool all my kids so there is no down time for me. That's ok. I know that come Saturday moning, I have a good 3 or 4 hours to myself to do one of my favorite things in the world – guilt free. Who says great gifts have to come in packages?

    • Diane

Aside from my children, grandchildren and great grandson, last year my Aunt gave me my grandmother's wedding ring that she had kept from her sisters for 50 years. I was the oldest granddaughter and she said I should have it. My mother had the chance to see this happen and find out about the ring shortly before her passing. I have a family treasure to pass along.

    • Bapennywise

A wonderful mother!!! She passed away a few years back right after I got married, but I am thankful for her every day.

    • ErinT

The best gift I have ever received was a special birthday weekend from my sister when she knew my marriage was ending. Not only did she pay for my trip to see her, but celebrated my birthday with a morning trip a special bakery, special bath treats for my morning shower, a girl's lunch date and evening birthday dessert at a local favorite. She not only made me feel special at a tough time in my life, but loved deeper than any love i have known. She is truly a part of me.

    • LauraSNixon

My mom has had Leukemia for 3+ years. For the last 12 months, our friends and church family have graciously given of the time and money to support our family during this time. She is a candidate for a stem cell transplant, so their generosity will truly help save my mom's life.

    • jenn

The best gift I ever got from my husband was two children. When we dated and when we got married he told me that he did not want to have kids. I always wanted children but I didn't leave my husband knowing how in love I was. Two years after we were married he told me he wanted to have a child. We had a girl and then 3 years later we had a boy. It's the best thing in life is having children! I am very blessed and I love my husband dearly.

    • Jenifer K.

The greatest gift is salvation. I thought “duh” when i saw all the post that said that but salvation is really so special. Jesus dying is a gift only He can give and thank the Lord that we can't! I mean we show others the love of Christ but we are not Christ because He is only perfect. So yes, the greatest gift is the shed blood of Christ for us all! Amen!

    • Meggo214

my husband proposed to me on my 21st birthday which is also valentines day. he is the best gift ever.

    • karenm

The best gift I have ever been given is my dog Levi. My husband got him for me after I accidentally ran over my Cocker Spaniel, Ginger. Levi brings joy to me every day of my life. He is the sweetest and funniest little dog. I wouldn't trade him for a million dollars or coupons(ha-ha).

    • Mccrary44

My sweet husband did a DVD of our life together starting with our wedding video, the video of the births of each of our children and video from when they were little. It was for no occasion and was the best gift I ever got.

    • the best gift that I have ever received was when my oldest son was involved in a terrible burn accident and had to be treated in a hospital in another state my sister, mother and mother in law stepped up and took care of my children (a 3month old and a 6 year old) and we even came home to a sparkling clean home and a stocked refrigerator.

    • Debra V

I received a new car when I graduated from high school. With that car I was able to get a job and drive to college. I became a teacher and was later able to home school my own children with the knowledge that I learned. DV

    • Addie

My best gift was definitely my salvation in Jesus Christ. My second best would be my precious children.

    • Rthomas

The best gift I ever recieved was a prayer journal. A work friend Mrs. Barbara gave it to me when my 9-month old was diagnosed with leukemia. It allowed me to express all of the thoughts and fears that I had, but was too afraid to verbalize. It helped me to come to terms with the new journey that we were about to expreience, and to deal with it in an “ok” way. Mrs. Barbara, I know that you look at this website. I hope that you read my post and I want you to know that you are a true blessing to me. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

    • Amy from Palmetto

The greatest gift I have ever received is the gift from God who gave his Son to die on the cross for our sins so that we who believe in Him will have everlasting life in heaven.

      • Maria

        Amy,
I agree. If Jesus had not loved me enough to die for me all the other blessing would not be so sweet… My kind and loving husband of 25 years, the blessing of my three children and the everyday little things that God does that often only matter to me just because He loves ME. Pretty awesome huh!

    • amanda

One night my car got broke into and my purse and some other stuff was stolen. In my purse along with many things I had a diamond necklace(which was the first gift my husband ever gave me)and on it i wore my 3 childrens baby rings, I always wore it but had taken off the day before because the chain had broken. My 6yr old saw how upset I was so she made me a necklace out of her beads and put 3 fake rings on it to replace the baby rings. I was by far one of the best and sweetest gifts ive ever received………

    • mj

the greatest gift i ever received… my 2 beautiful children, of course! thank you uterus!!!!!

    • Ladonna Gonser

So predictable but so true, the best gift I ever recieved from another human being was the gift of my three precious children (from my husband)!!! He continues to bless me each day by doing things like bathing them and tucking them in…he's a great dad! :)

    • Ginger

My daughter was diagnosed with an aggressive form of leukemia (AML) when she was 3. She is now 5 and thriving. There is no better gift than seeing her smile!

    • Faye

The best gift I ever received was a car from my husband. He got it for me on my birthday just 3 month's after I met him. I cried tears of joy to have a dependable car to ride to work in.

    • Jackie Owens

The greatest gift that my husband bought me was a GE treasure chest freezer! I was having so much trouble stockpiling because I don't have enough freezer space and had to let go so many great deals on frozen food!

    • Kristen

My husband is my greatest gift and blessing.

    • Hillskd

My best gift was a loop-the-loop racetrack I got for Christmas when I was 10. :-)

      I didn't think I'd get it because it cost around $50 — in 1964.

    • Gamecock Girl

Best gift ever: my parents being able to watch my children for my husband and me to work. thanks mom and dad.

    • Kristinlehmann

My favorite “material” gift to this day was from my high school sweetheart – for Christmas one year he gave me a card that said he had sponsored an overseas child in my name for 6 months. I was so touched and LOVED that he had thought “outside the box''!

    • Melissahodgen

Being able to be the bone marrow donor for my sister. It was an honor.

    • MJohnson

Jesus chose to love me :)

    • Bwmorgan16

The best gift I every received was my grown daughter's surprise arrival at the vet's when I had to put my dog down because of cancer.

    • Snolen4

My oldest son had an allergic reaction to a medication. He was extremely ill and we were told that he would not survive and if he did, he would have severe brain damage. That was 6 years ago. Not only did he survive, he is a straight “A” student in college. He does have physical challenges, but I thank God every day that he survived. His life is the greatest gift I ever received and it is even more special because I know God gave me the gift.

    • When I graduated from high school, my sister who was 15 at the time, made a scrapbook for me. We weren't the best of friends at that time, you know how teenage sisters are! But it meant so much to me because she reavealed a lot of her true feelings in the scrapbook and how she really looked up to me, and it was just a really special gift.

      • I keep getting logged in as my husband, so this is really Tara T, not Anthony T! :)

    • cindy

I am thankful to all the military that has created a safe place for me and my family to live. Thank you!!!!

    • Julielynnescott

probably being raised in a Christian home….thankful for my Parents who raised us in a Bible-believing church…and that I received Christ as my personal Saviour at the age of 5….His salvation is the best gift ever!!!

    • Amelia

The best gift I ever received was finding out during a very painful time in my life that my son's tuition and a bill at a local store had been paid by an anonymous donor. This reaffirmed my belief in human kindness and my faith that God takes care of everything.

    • Jen

I received the best gift ever when I graduated…my sweet puppy!

    • Christina R

When I was in fourth grade, I really really wanted the Chris Evert wooden tennis racket. She was my hero at the time. I was afraid to ask for it because my Dad was in the military and money was very tight. We lived overseas and getting items that were “in style” took alot of manuvering. I was SHOCKED when I got the racket that Christmas morning from my parents. I still have the racket in the attic to show my kids! They do not get the idea of a wooden racket!

    • Beth

Wow – it's hard to choose just one! On our 25th anniversary my husband, a pastor, proposed again to me in front of the entire church! Our two grown children and the whole church were in on the surprise, but I didn't have a clue! My daughter had chosen a dress for me, and she and my daughter-in-law whisked me away to get my nails done. When I arrived back at the church that evening, our son walked me down the aisle in front of a packed church. After special music and a great video from our children, my sweetheart and I said “I do” again. This entire experience was a gift beyond compare and I am looking forward to the next 25 years with my wonderful husband!

When I was 16 years old by boyfriend purchased a 1966 Mustang (needed tons of work) but we were too young to have money to spare. We got married 5 years later. When I turned 26 years old, he presented me with a FULLY restored 1966 Red Mustang. He secretly worked on the car as he had money to purchase parts for 10 years. We are still married after 21 years and we still have that beautifully restored Mustang. A real treasure! The car is too!!

    • Srgaddy

The best gift I was ever given was a wonderful, loving step-Daddy (before I was ever born). He raised me as his own – never making a difference between me and my younger half brother and sister. At the age of 18 I was told the truth about my biological father. I loved my “step-Daddy” even more then. He is quite a man. P.S. I call him DADDY !! He is God's gift to an unborn little girl!! Thank you Father for my DADDY!!! I am 42 yrs. old now and he still calls me his little girl. : )

    • Cbsellers

My first REAL Barbie doll. I was in my late 30's. My best friend Chris had overheard me talking about my childhood… how I had never had a real barbie, just a no-name brand (we couldn't afford the real thing) It was like being a little girl again, I couldn't believe that someone would care so much. I still have the doll – – about 15 years later.

    • Kathy

The best gift I've ever received (besides salvation), was a camcorder from my children. Now I am using it with my grandchildren. Nothing like being able to look back on all the memories!

    • Chandra

The best gift I got was the leather jacket from my husband.

    • Trbarrineau

The best gift that I have ever received was from my granddaddy (who was everything to me) a few days after the birth of my daughter who is now 16. While everyone was paying attention to my new bundle of joy, my granddaddy came in and had bought me a box of saltine crackers which were my favorite when I was a little girl and use to sleep over at his house. While it only cost maybe $1.50 at the time, it was worth everything to me.

    • Leslie

The best gift I have recieved was a gift card from a lady at our church. It was for $30.00, but the Lord sent her to us, because we needed the money to buy some food. It was the best gift we have ever recieved from the Lord and our friend.

    • Tracy Schwartz

For Mother's Day one year, my husband gave me a video camera, but the best part of the gift was when he told me why he gave it to me. He told me to capture moments of our girls lives because their happy moments reflect good mothering. Their happiness comes from the love I give to them. Needless to say, tears were shed. Just hearing that he thinks I'm a good mom was a precious gift.

    • Atinel

A simple 4 x 6 photograph. My aunt gave it to me for Christmas the year my grandmother had passed away. It was a picture of my grandmother holding my daughter, who was only 2 weeks old at the time. It was the first and only time my grandmother saw her. It is the only picture of the two of them together. I will treasure it always……

    • Joyousnorth

The best gift ever was from my father-in-law. Out of no where, not on my birthday, or on Christmas, he gave me a cricut. He was just walking in a store and saw it and decided that I would love something like that. What really is impressive is that he does this for all his daughters and daughter-in-laws and he has 18 of them. 18!! He seems to find something for them whether it is a candy bar, cricut, flowers, etc. He is just a great father-in-law.

    • Crazy1comet

Thanks to my husband, while he has not “given” me the best gift he is a gift! An awesome father to my son and a great best friend. Love you Todd!

    • Mari

The best gift I ever had came from God. He gave me my daughter. :)

    • Meechiebug

Although I adore material gifts, I would have to say that the best gift I have ever received is my husband. He is everything I prayed to God for, plus more!!!! What's ironic is that his name is Nathanael, which when translated, means, “Gift of God.”

    • Brandi

One particular one is my embroidery sewing machine that my husband gave me one christmas. I love it and have used it constantly ever since.

    • hy

      my husband!

    • Pittpat

My daughter….and I thank my wife every day!

    • Dana

11 years ago, my mother paid for me to have LASIK eye surgery for my birthday. The gift of eyesight was the best gift I ever received.

    • Hayes418

Best gift is the CVS clerk telling me about your website! Wow am I saving money for my family! Thanks

    • Lanie

My husband gave me a Yellow Lab puppy. I named her Chloe. Her unconditional love, her unfaltering loyalty and her endless happiness make her a constant source of joy. Every day I give thanks for Chloe and pray that I may always be the kind of person that she thinks I am.

    • Angela Ryals

My husband is the best gift that has ever been given to me! I know there are other husbands/boyfriends out there that are just as wonderful, but he's mine and I am so extremely thankful! He is ALWAYS there for me and our children! He works extra shifts, but is always there for our children's field trips and games. He plays catch and swims with them in the pool! He goes to the grocery store and does the dishes! He knows exactly what author and title I want for my birthday and makes sure a friend in need has a place to stay or a meal to eat! I know this is probaby more appropriate for a father's day contest than for a gift, but God has given me the best gift that I have ever received in the form of a husband and my thanks will never begin to express my appreciation!

    • Lponder

The best gift that I have ever recieved was the day I accepted Jesus as my Saviour….just knowing that I will have everlasting life is the best gift of all!!!

      • Savemydoe

        Amen to that!

    • Rachel

My husband surprised me with a sewing machine!

    • cheryl

Next to salvation..Hubby surprised me with jewelry for birthday from cruise to St Thomas. It was best gift because, I actually like it, he picked it out, and – I can't return it!!

    • The best gift I got was at my wedding shower eight years ago. A woman who lived on my road had collected old shirts, etc. from neighbors around us, and she made them into an achingly beautiful quilt in the style of fans (I don't know what you call it). There never has been nor will there ever be anything like it for me again, I don't imagine. I hope, one day, to be able to sew a small bit like that lovely old saint of God, and then to bless another with such a gift.

One of the best gifts I ever received was when my mom took my bouncy horse from when I was a kid painted it and turned it into a pole lamp.

    • Kel2001b

The best present would have to be my child, Madison Jo!!!!

    • Liser8

The best gift I ever received, hmmm….that's a tough one. I had a very difficult pregnancy – low amniotic fluid and a high chance of birth defects. My greatest gift was a perfectly healthy baby boy. I will thank God in my prayers tonight.

    • Amy

I would have to say as many of the others below – Salvation, my wonderful husband, 2 healthy children, our families, & my Nikon camera that my husband got me for my birthday a couple years ago! I am blessed beyond measure!!!

    • Leighann

The gift of family. I love my family…Hubby, 5 yr old and 1 yr old! I try to thank God everyday for each one of them!!!

    • Asanders268

the gift of life is a huge one…thanks to Jesus for that!!

    • Outnumbered

we adopted our two boys in 2005 and 2007. their birth mother gave us the greatest gift she could possibly give. we are so blessed to have our two boys and to have a wonderful relationship with their birth mom.

    • couponlove

The best gift I've received so far has to be that my parents raised me with the freedom to be me, no pressure to conform to any one thing so that I could truly learn who I wanted to be and why. Today I'm happy, healthy and I have a wonderful, loving family! I hope I win and can surprise them with a little something to say 'thank you'.

    • Dyarchristy

Salvation!!! And God keeps on giving. My baby boy is in the hospital an hour away from our home and God has provided a place to stay across the street from the hospital. This place cost 40 dollars a night and God has worked through friends and family by giving us enough money to stay a month and a half and when we think we are going to have to move out and leave our baby at the hospital God provides.

    • Dartingd

The best gift we were given was the knowledge given to us by our local friend to help us save money with Southern Savers and coupons. I had lost my job and was back in school, and we were bringing in about $1000 less per month. Penny, our friend, helped us get started with coupons and showed us how this whole thing works. Now we're the most effective savers among all our friends, and we try and give help to those willing to receive. Kind of a “pay it forward” thing.

    • christie smith

a leg… :) I have a below knee amputation, and here recently my current prosthesis, but my copay was going to be over $2500 out of pocket costs which having a 15 month old, was just not something I could do, without me asking, my wonderful aunt who is my own personal angel not only offered to pay for my new leg, but called the prosthetics place, payed the cost in full then told me to go get fitted for it… it meant more to me than she could ever every know…

    • Sheila1257

my gifts from God 1st, and so many I am thankful ~ Last year my gift of my Great Dane Blue has been the best from someone who could not take care of him due to illness, he was a 8 month giant and is now my bestest friend

    • Astridholliman

      Salvation! Thank you Jesus!

    • Kimc

Wow, the best gift I ever got was from my sister before she died…custody of her daughter, now mine, when we could not get pregnant…

    • NancyMac

For the majority of my life my father was very ill. He started having seizures when I was around five and from then on he seemed to start having other problems. As much as I miss my father, I would say the greatest present is knowing that he isn't suffering anymore and that he is not in pain anymore and that everything is okay for him now. I thank God for that everyday.

    • Mema2914

I received flowers celebrating my son's birthday from a very special person in his life. Also a very sweet note was attached. She is such a thoughtful person always there for her friends. She is a very deserving person and I would like to thank her in a very special way.

    • Ebocage

The best gift I ever received (besides my children) was the 5 year anniversary gift from my husband. It was a crystal frame with three cutouts. The center had our wedding photo and the other two have our parents wedding photos. I love it so much because he thought of it all on his own. It's incredibly sweet an beautiful.

    • Rosen220

My best gift has been my 2 wonderful girls, I thank God for them everyday!

    • ywardlaw

My mom. I didn't get to choose and I'm thankful for that. God knew what was best and I am blessed. Mom was diagnosed with cancer a few weeks ago and underwent surgery. Three days after being let go from the hospital we were back in the ER and she had emergency surgery the next morning. I think we were on the doorstep due to the complication, but thanks to all those caring for her and our Lord she is doing well and they got all the cancer.

    • Emmieannie33

The best gift I ever received was the 6 months and 4 days I had with my infant son, Dalton. God gave me a child that needed special medical care and love. He passed away last year after months of suffering and the memories I have are more valuable that ANY material object I have ever been given. The love of a child, my son, that was my greatest gift EVER received!

    • Sara

Probably the best present (besides my kids) that I ever received was from my new boyfriend (who is now my husband) when we began dating at end of January. Valentines Day quickly approached and I gave him a candle and he bought me this amazing necklace with a turquoise pendant. It was perfect and showed that he got me right away! I still wear it to this day at 15 years later!

I love surprises so hopeful that I win!

    • Micheller080584

My mom was addicted to narcotics and around christmas 2 years ago she went through detox. Its was by far the best gift I have ever received.

    • Geecheegirl2004

The best gift I ever received was the healing of my heart after my last 3 children were adopted. I had one biological child, a son and one stepson but always mourned the children that I never had. After my husband and I married 4 1/2 years ago we adopted our first child, then a second, then a third. It was not planned that way but these little guys were left at the hospital by their mother after birth. We could not turn our backs on the siblings so we took them into our home. I now know my heart is healed because it no longer feels like it has a hole in it!

    • KD

Last year at work I complimented a co-worker on her diamond earrings. About two months later she gave me the earrings and a matching necklace. They were given to her by an ex-boyfriend and she didn't want them anymore. Because I had said I liked them, she gave them to me with a note that said I could have them only if I promised to always be myself and never let any man treat me badly. I promised!!

    • Time. My parents and my mentor have invested heavily into my life, and I am blessed beyond measure to be the recipient of that gift!

    • Jessica

The greatest gift of all- Jesus Christ. The ONE who paid it all for me and for you. God's unconditional love for us who sent His son to die on the cross for our sins and raise from the dead so that we can have eternal life with Him in Heaven. Being a sinner and headed for Hell, the gift of grace to save me from my sins and give me a new life so that I, and all of us, can glorify him in all that we do! The one gift I will be forever grateful for and that not only saved my life, but gave me a reason to live!

    • melissa

After leaving an unsafe marriage with a 8 month old baby, I was blessed by the Lord with another baby. This child was conceived just a month before our marriage fell apart, and though at the beginning of the pregnancy it seemed a burden. I quickly realized this baby was a tangible lesson of God's grace. Emma Grace is now a happy healthy 5 year old girl that lights up our family and is a reminder of the best gift ever…Grace. :)

    • Dawn

My best gift, I guess, was today. My birthday, and my mom presented me with a card and a gift from my Dad, who passed away in February. It was a bittersweet day, but also I was blessed that I knew even though he was no longer with us, he touched me from heaven today.

    • Gail

I received a pandora bracelet from my daughter for mother's day with an angel on it. The angel represents my mom who lost her battle with renal cancer in November she fought for thirteen months, but it took her life, my daughter wrote in a card,: Mom,we got you something to get you through this tough day and help guide you along your way. We know we could never replace her, but we wanted you to know she's always with you and that we love you and she does to. I thank god for my family just like my mom did before she passed. God Bless Everyone, especially my parents who are now after 30 years reunited in Heaven. I Love and Miss You Mom and Dad, Your Baby Daughter Gail. P.S. My Daughter Candace, you are one special little girl and you deserve the world. Love, Mom.

    • Ginaod2000

The best gift I ever received was My Daughter! She is 3 years old & my life wouldn't be complete without her. Thanks!

    • Julie

The gift that sticks in my head the most are the earrings my husband gave me on our first christmas together. We had nothing, in fact we were hurting so much that we had to live with his parents for 2 months. He had saved the entire year for those earring and gave them to me in a jewelry box he had my name engraved on. The best part was the look on his face when he gave me the gift- you would have thought he was getting a gift himself. He could have given me a kleenex and it would have meant the same to me. It just made me realize how much he cared. We are celebrating 3 years together next week, and doing so much better financially thanks to southern savors!

    • Susan Stevenson

I answered the greatest gift received, but wanted to add that when my mom and dad passed away,I received her wedding rings. This past year my daughter-inlaw got pregnant and was having a tough time, because she lost the one she was carrying after four months. Her husband had said their tenth anniversary was coming up and he wanted to buy her a new ring, well I told him to take grandma's ring and make it into another ring for her. He did and mothers day she called me crying and thanking me for giving her part of my mom and part of me. I told her I never had a daughter and that I wanted to pass this down so she intern can pass it down when her children marry. It was so important to me to share part of my mom with my children. Plus the new baby arrived on my birthday, she requested that date. So for me giving and receiving gifts should be an everyday event. It is so hard to pick just one, and with many my salvation is first in all my gifts, but to reunite adults that were adopted was the gift of joy I get in finding and seeing the tears they shed when they see the brother, sister or mother after 55 years. You can almost compare it to having a baby and the joy of family.

    • Kchaney7

Recently, I received an Ipod from my husband for my birthday. It's helping to keep me motivated to run (which I started doing for the first time this past February) and exercise.

    • Melanie Fuller

Wow, besides my salvation, my wonderful husband, and 4 fantastic and healthy sons…I would have to say my favorite item I've ever been given is a diamond slide bracelet that my husband gave to me. With the birth of each of my sons, he has added a new diamond slide to it and it is beautiful!

    • Jane

The gift of my family. My perfect husband and angelic daughter, Lillian. I thank God for my life a lot. :)

    • Mdjdarling

My precious daughter! I love her more than life itself!!

    • SCmom

My beautiful daughters ages 8 and 9 and my wonderful husband. I feel truly blessed everyday and try to enjoy every minute of them growing up so very fast.

    • KTCooke

My mother-in-law hired a housekeeping service to come in twice a month, cleaning our home for us the last three months of my pregnancy and the three months following the birth of our baby daughter. That was the BEST gift anyone has ever given me!!!

    • Melissa C.

On our first Christmas together, my husband gave me a Bible with my new name on the front of it.

    • nina21007

Definitely the rose my bf gave me! I still have it too…a year and a half ago!

    • LindaAnne

Wow, so many touching memories already listed by others. Many of them brought tears to my eyes! I've been so blessed over the years…my precious “guys” and others, family and friends who have loved me and been a blessing to me. The many, many blessings the LORD has poured out upon me. For our 25th anniversary my husband and son planned a surprise trip to Tybee Island…it was wonderful! Nothing like spending time at the beach to relax and escape for awhile. A very sweet memory. Thanks for another fun give away. And thanks, again, for Southern Savers!

    • Serenity Cecile's Mommy

The best gift I have ever received was fertility treatments. And the story goes like this if you care to hear it…. For almost 10 years I tried to get pregnant, 2years with my 1st husband, and for almost 8 with my forever husband. I came to terms with the fact that my step son and my twin nieces (that I inherited when my brother passed) would be the only children for me. Not that they weren't enough, Lord knows I love them all very much. But I just wanted one to call my own, someone to call ME Mommy. I had tried a few rounds of fertility pills with my obgyn with failed results and a broken heart. I accepted the things I can not change and tried to put it behind me since there was no way we could afford a fertility clinic, treatments, and all the medications that go with it. In April of 09 my Grandma who was dying from cancer offered to pay for the fertility treatments if I still wanted to try to have a baby. I of course JUMPED at her offer! You have to know that this is not a grandparent that I was very close to, I often felt like I barely knew her, so it was such a huge shock when my Mom told me about her offer. I wanted to move QUICKLY since she was very sick and I wanted her to be able to meet the baby if the treatments worked. Well it worked and June 13th 2009 I conceived!! Sadly my Grandma did not make it to see my sweet baby girl come into this world. I did however get to tell her the day she died that if it was a girl we were going to name her Serenity after the prayer Cecile after my Grandma who gave me such a wonderful gift.

When I turned 16, my grandfather gave me a female calf. It lived on his farm with the rest of his cattle, and as the calf grew older, it began to birth its own calves. Each time, my grandfather would sell the calf at market and send me a check for the market price, which was usually around $500. Talk about the gift that keeps on giving!

    • Tonya M

Besides my salvation and my loving husband and my 3 year old that took us 2 years to get (The Lord had finally blessed me to carry a child) and my loving family, I would have to say that one gift that stands out the most would be my 5 year anniversay ring from my hubby.

    • Dealdiggingdiva

My Mama! She is an angel on earth. I am on disability and my husband has cancer, she always anticipates anything we might need and it's there for us. She gives so much to everyone all the time and never leaves anyone out. All of our family said that all she was missing was her “angel wings”, so for Christmas one year, my sister-in-law bought her a pair of feathered angel wings. She always tells me, “If I've got money, You've got money!” Everywhere we go she has to buy me something, even if it is just a candy bar. We do our couponing together and I print some for her since she does not have a computer. A couple of weeks ago she bought me a t-shirt that says, “Yes- I Have A Coupon For That!
My mama is always giving her love, strength, encouragement, money, hugs & kisses and never expects anything in return. Every time she goes shopping or to a yard sale, she brings me something back, then apologizes by saying “I't's nothing much”.She gives her love from her heart and gives it to everyone freely and puts everyone else's happiness above her own. That is a true gift and is something that does not carry a price tag, it is truelly priceless. I am so proud that I am her daughter. There is no material gift in this world that compares to my mama!

The Best Gift I have ever received was a Random Act of Kindness from a neighbor that I really didn't know. My home was burned – a total loss, and in an instance me (a single mom) and my six children were homeless. We were devastated.I had no idea how I would afford another place to live. A few days after the fire, I went back to the burned home to look for anything salvageable and this neighbor came over and told me he had a mobile home I could buy.I told him I could not afford to buy it.He wrote on a piece of paper $250.00 per month for 2 years – and ask me if I could pay that.I said yes, and he told me to get my children and move in.In an instance we had another home that I now own. That Random Act of Kindness was truly the best gift We have ever received.

    • Linda

I have been blessed with so many wonderful friends and family, but my Mother is the best!! She always thinks of others and I thank God for her everyday. She works so hard and never complains. I admire the way she has handled so many situations in her life. Thanks for everything mom and I love you.

    • Heidi

My best gift was becoming a mother. The Lord blessed me with a wonderful set of twins!

    • Astrickla2

I am thankful for salvation and my family. God gave me both of them so I am thanking Him now.

    • Cands8856

i have a lot of gifts that i am thankful for but one still stands out …my son had been hit by a car and was in bad shape for a while with head and leg trauma…so being recently divorced single mom with custody i had to stay out of work for a while to care for my son..money was very very tight and keeping the house over out head was where all my money was going to…so food was only what we could afford to get by with…my coworkers sent me a rather large gift card to a grocery store , my son and i had such a happy time picking out food that we usually couldnt get..i think we spent hours in the grocery store…or maybe it just seemed like it……..it made me realize how lucky i am to have my son and people who care about our well being…i have tried to pass it on to others even if it is in small ways ……..

    • Christina

I'm a single parent of two children. As such, I have to depend on my mother for help with the care of my treasures while I work. I go about a week without seeing them while they are with their “Gammy”. I was on my way to drop them off and was going to miss them a lot. My son quietly wrote on a piece of paper his first actual sentence he'd ever written to me. “I love you mama so much.” with little hearts all around it. And as he handed it to me, he added “Even when you are mad at me and I'm mad at you.” I still have that little note wedged on top of my speedometer in my car.

    • Tiffany

The best gift I ever got was my husband. He is the best husband and father, ever.

    • Michelle

The best present ive ever recieved was when i was in high school. it was valentine's day,but it had been snowing hard.in fact we were snowed in. then around 6pm,my mother heard a knock at our door. when she opened it,there stood my high school sweetheard(ray) dressed in a snowsuit, gloves, and hat, smiling. in his hand was a half dozen yellow roses and a card!!! he had walked from his house(about 10min away-driving) to mine to give me my valentine's day gift!!! i was shocked and so very suprised. even though that was about 15yrs ago,it still ranks as one of the best and most romantic gifts ive ever received!

    • My husband gave me worm that changes color when the soil is too dry in your plants. Such a small thing that meant so much because it was very thoughful.

    • Kathleen

I love this idea! The best gift I ever received was my hubby <3

    • Hillary

I am thankful for the gift of time — time to spend with family. I'm blessed.

    • Smcowan2

I am thankful to God for all the wonderful gifts He has given me but my husband and my two boys are at the very top of the list!

    • Barttb

My mom is 86 and has been in failing health for 3 years. I pray to God everyday to watch after my mom. I love her so much. My husband has been a blessing helping me with her. I am truly blessed with the best family.

    • kim

Forgiveness. And lots of it! My family – and a grandson.

    • Nicole

My best gifts come in the form of my hubby of almost 6 years and my 4 y/o and 16 mo old boys. I would be SOOO lost without them!

    • Mrssheilan

God's forgiveness and His saving grace, without Him or it I am nothing. Family and two real friends, through thick or thin, they are truly a precious gift. My grandchildren (included in family), but what a privilege and a blessing those little munchkins are to me. They show unconditional love.
Wow I'm blessed in so many ways. God is good!

      • Kgrant

        Beautiful, you should win.

    • Wendelfam

Like others, my gift isn't tangible, but it means a lot to me. When I got married, my dad asked the pastor performing the ceremony not to say the line asking who gives this woman to be wed. I was upset at first–it's tradition–but then he told me why. He told me I would always be his daughter and he would not give me away, he didn't care about what anyone thought or tradition. (Six years later, my mom is still kind of steamed over this one and I have tried to explain to her that it was his way of telling me he loved me.)

    • T_melisha

I would say my engagement/wedding ring!

    • bethany

The best gift I have ever received was a Shark Steam Mop! Thanks, DH!!!

    • vicki

my best gift was from my dad when he paid me back for my college education.

    • Redlibra2000

When I was little I prayed and prayed for a Cabbage Patch Doll….I wrote Santa a thousand letters! That year they were sold out everywere and my parents kept telling me not to get my hopes up. On Christmas morning I tore through the gifts and just when I had lost hope…there behind the tree, in all her red headed glory, was my coveted Cabbage Patch Kid. I'm sure the neighbors heard the screaming. It was AWESOME!!

    • Lisa

Hey, the best gift I ever received was from a stranger who started a conversation with me about 3 years ago in line at Walmart. She said he kids were grown and asked how much formula costs for an infant these days. When I told her she was was stunned. I said “I know it makes it hard”. We I got ready to pay for the formula my bill was almost $100.00 after coupons and she pulled out a $100 dollar bill and paid my bill. She said she had been in my shoes once and now she was able to help others so that is why she did it. That was the greatest gift I think I have ever received.

    • Mattelainemast

My hubby gave me a wedding ring.

    • Chrisnlj

My best gift- Sounds crazy but it was the one with the most thought put into it. My son was born by emergency c-section and a friend who had recently had a similar experience brought me “granny panties” as a gift! She knew I would have packed (as she did) bikinis- OUCH!!! So very thoughtful!!

    • Heather

Best gift I ever recieved was from god and my husband….my husband himself and my 4 awesome children and the future one we are hoping to adopt.

    • Lois Evans

the best gift i ever received was from my mom after my dad passed away. My daddy had cancer and of course we as a family rallied together to take care of him…. I was the one that had to change his IV fluids, give him shots in the tummy, and help keep moms going. I have never been a cheerleader in my life but that first Christmas after my dad passed away, my mom got me two charms, one was a cheerleader and the other was “daddys little girl”. She said the cheerleader was because of how encouraging I was to them and how I kept cheering them on….. They taught it to me.

    • Pam

The best gift I ever received was my little girl. God has blessed my husband and I with a beautiful child.

    • Binghams5

The best gift I every recieved was my salvation, freely given by the one true God, He continues to give me the best gifts, my husband of 30 years, 3 wonderful children and a handsome grandson Noah!! Thank you God for being so faithful to me!!

    • Lbooth169

The best gift ever received was a dinner out with my family recently.

    • Hdhamrick

My sister gives the best gifts. I've received concert tickets to my favorite artists and recently she went in half with me on a Cricut.

    • BuckeyeSara1982

When I was little, I wrote a letter to Santa telling him that I wanted a doll, but it was ridiculously specific and was something I had made up. The doll had to be almost as big as me with blonde curly hair in pigtail braids, brown eyes, a red velvet dress with a gold bow and black patent leather shoes. Can you believe that on Christmas morning there was a 3 foot tall box labelled “dream doll” that had my EXACT doll in it! Santa sure went to a lot of trouble to make a little girl's dreams come true that year! Santa had to sew the dress, buy the shoes and find a basic doll that would meet the criteria. As an adult with a child of my own, I appreciate that doll and the effort Santa put into it even more. :)

Tomorrow we will celebrate 1 year of The Best Gift Ever. My mom went into sudden cardiac arrest last year, of which only 12-15% of people survive. But my father performed CPR while my girls called 911, and my mother is with us today and doing wonderful. We thank God and hope for many more years with her.

    • lovemywife082303

The best gift I recieved was God allowing my Grandmother to meet my wife and my beautiful little daughter before she passed away. She was diagnosed with Alzheimer's right before my wife and I got married and she deteriorated very quickly. My daughter was born in Feb. and my Grandmother died in August. She was an inspiration to me and the people around her. We were all blessed to have spent the time with her.

    • Nato

My daughter painted a spoon rest for me all by herself. She was so proud when she gave it to me. It's so simple, but it means so much because she made it with love. It is beautiful and I think of her everyday as I see it and use it.

    • Muffinstuff1

The best gift I ever received was a “package gift” that included forgiveness for my sins, unconditional love, an abundant life and eternal life! And the gift was bought and paid for by my Savior, Jesus Christ. Talk about the gift that keeps on giving!!!!

      • MomofKLA

I have received that same precious gift…….the best ever. Nothing can compare. The best thing is that it is a free gift for all who choose to accept it. The gift is there…….will you choose to open it??

      • Tatyana

Amen! Can't ask for better gift :)

    • Skederbear

my salvation an God gave me the most incredible man for my husband!(=

    • momof3

The best gift I ever received wasn't even meant for me. About a decade ago, my younger sister flew in from Germany as a surprise for my dad's 50th birthday party. My son had been born just a few months earlier, and so when we picked her up at the airport (back before 9/11, when you could go to the terminal), she raced off the plane, held my son, and just sobbed. We had a great couple of days! Sadly, she died in a tragic accident a few months later, but that visit has meant the world to me since then!

    • Kristi

the Best gift I ever received was a home made dollhouse. Our family decided that we would make all our gifts together for Christmas in 1975. Each family member took part in creating something for the dollhouse. I was 6 and although the dollhouse was simple with a kleenex box for a bed, a tomato crate for a playpen and doll clothes made from scraps. I still own and cherish this beloved gift.

    • JRaper77

My favorite ever was a handful of crunched up leaves…..my 2 yr old came to me – 'hear mommy – I pick you flowers.' It was the pure joy of watching my child give a 'gift' for the first time, and even greater joy that I was the recipient! I love giving gifts….I hope I can teach that little one to keep doing the same!

    • Meagan

One of the best gifts I was given was a new camera. I love the camera and all, but that's not why it was the best. I had been using an older camera and it was falling apart. I was constantly frustrated with it and complained about it. My husband surprised me with a new camera for my birthday. It meant so much to me that he listened (because I never asked for one…I just said when he's done with school and we have some extra money I would like to get a new camera). He's amazing!

    • Couponcrazy85

Back when the razor phone was the rave, I really, really wanted the hot pink one!!!! My husband surprised me and had it shipped to our house! I was sooooooo excited and tickled with it! I think tho' that the whole fact that he did that for me was more exciting than anything else! When it comes to husbands, God gave me the bestest there is! :) (and thatn's not said because of the razor phone he bought me either! LOL!)

After waiting not so patiently for quite a few years….the best gift I ever received was my twin daughters…who were almost upstagged by their little brother 15 months later! I thank God for them all every day!

    • Henryknox9

the best gift I received was a plane ticket to Arizona to visit my sister-in-law and brother when they had their third child, a son, and I was able to stay and help her because my brother had to go back overseas where he was deployed, a week after the birth.

    • Nillebobm

This is a hard choice. It really makes you think about how blessed you really are. I will say that my best gift ever was being raised in a christian home. My parents taught me about Christ's love, about how to be a good person, and right from wrong. They taught me about what is truly important in life. They also taught me that mistakes happen and we all sin, but Christ can help us to forgive others and ourselves and move on. And the great thing about this gift is that I can now give it to all 4 of my children. My husband and I strive to give them the love and guidance that would please the Lord.

    • Joshesep

I have to tell you about the best gift I've received lately, ( as over the years I've been blessed by many), I came home an hour late from work one night and my husband had made me supper! He went to a farm stand and bought things He doesn't even like and then cooked them for me!! We had tilapia and eggplant and summer squash and corn on the cob! I am so spoiled and blessed with the best Husband ever!! And yes I've thanked him lots!

    • Jmholley

i would love to win a gift for someone else, how rewarding is that!!!

    • Goodmorningglory

My husband is the best gift. Because of God and my husband, I have received precious gifts, my two sons.

    • Jfcoupon

The best gift I ever got was a 7 hour spa day. It was definately perfect for me and the stress of life.

    • Betsy

The best gift was for Christmas a few years back from my husband. He gave me a certificate for a one-stroke painting class that he knew I had always wanted to learn how to do. Not only did I have a great time and a new hobby but I have been able to give away and sell beautiful things that I still can't believe that I painted!

    • Patty

The best gift I ever received was my daughter. She's from India and we adopted her when she was 9 months old. When she was little I used to always tell her “do you know why I love you so much?” and she would say “yes, because I am a gift”.
I'd like to thank her birth mom for this beautiful gift.

    • Holly

depends on if you're speaking of a material item or not, the gift of Jesus Christ, family, all of these are priceless and non-comparable. When I was in college, i remember not having the money to pay my school bill that month and the exact amount came in my mailbox the day before it was due anonymously. This need was provided-what a great gift, from the person that provided it, but even greater the answer to prayer that came from God. God heard my prayer, I will never forget that lesson I learned that day of depending on HIM and TRUSTING HIM to meet ALL my needs! To GOD be the glory!

    • Jerry Willis

The best gift I've received is a Martin Luther German Bible printed in 1693.

    • FLZephyr

It is so hard to choose just one gift. The greatest gift anyone can receive is God's gift of salvation through His son, Jesus.

    • Supercpnmom

The best gift I ever received had nothing to do with the gift itself. After a bad marriage, I was newly single. I had just recently started dating and was also suffering from debilitating migraines. My new love interest came over for lunch one day to find me curled up on the bathroom floor. Knowing that it had gone to far they put me and my kids in the car, called my ex and had him meet us at the ER. While we were waiting we were looking through the Sunday ads and I mentioned in passing that I was going to ask my mom for an iPod for my birthday the next week. Fast forward to my birthday week, and another lunch date. I was amazed to find a blue iPod from my new love. I was amazed because for the first time in my adult life someone had actually paid attention when I spoke. That was the best part of the gift. Almost 4 years later and we still communicate better than I ever thought possible.

    • Julie

My parents gave us the money for the downpayment on our house almost five years ago. We've only been able to pay them half of it back. We have a beautiful home thanks to them! They are the most generous people I know!!!

    • Hawkcoupons

My parents gave us some money to help get caught up on some bills…I was definitel able to get a good night's rest that night—after the shock wore off.

    • Beth

The best gift I ever got was from my best friend. She got a little notebook (themed after a conversation we had before) and on each page wrote a special memory that we had shared together. That was 6 years ago and I still tear up just reading it. It didn't cost much money but it was so special that she took the time to share all the memories she had of our friendship!

    • Ginnymckinney

The best gift I ever got was an answer to prayer from someone I did not even know. My mother was dying with cancer, and I had left my job to care for her. She lived with my husband and me. My husband was working twelve hour days and we were barely making ends meet. He continued to teach five year old Sunday school and one Spring morning, he came home with tears running down his face. He could not even speak. He gave me a card with an envelope and a check for 1000.00 from a couple we had never even met. They had heard about my mother's illness and had received an extra blessing of money that week that they wanted to share with us, with us, people they didn't even know. The money was not the real gift. The gift was the encouragement to continue, in spite of our sadness and fatigue, knowing that we were loved and cared for, and the inspiration to pay forward the blessings we receive.

    • Tatyana

I could go on with how many wonderful gifts I have been given throughout the years… gift of eternal life; health; wonderful Godly parents; in-laws; my siblings; my wonderful Godly husband–who is also my best friend; but One special gift that I am thinking of right now is my healthy baby-girl Vashti. At first being told I might not be able to be pregnant, then being on bed-rest for 4 weeks and later delivering her 4 weeks early… she is as healthy as child can come :). Lord has been so good to me. :)I am blessed

    • Rldotter

The best gift I ever received was something intangible. While I was in labor with my first son, my husband sat quietly (something that rarely happens!) beside my bed. After I while he said, “If I could, I would take the pain away.” Now that's love.

    • Amandackesler

My favorite gift was for my bday last year and my bf took me to a really nice restaurant and his mom bought me a really dressy outfit to wear and it was just nice and romantic.

    • JW

The best non-material gift I received was husband and then my son. Otherwise, it is a toss up between the money I received to put towards my first *new* car upon completing grad school, or the secret weekend getaway my husband planned for me at an oceanfront B&B.

    • Bev

The best gift I have ever been given is marriage to my husband. We've been married for 5 years (I know, not long compared to many of you!), but he is still my best friend and is the best dad to our two kiddos. He loves spending time with our kids, and is always there for me, to talk things through or just be there when I cry (without trying to “fix it” whenever I'm being hormonal). He's such a sweetheart!

    • djt

I best gift was from a best friend when I was a little girl. After 28 years she looked me up and suprised with a visit all the way from San Diego. She died a few years later. I truly miss her.

    • kmleo

The gift that keeps on giving… I was given a Bible to take with me to college. I can't believe it has lasted me through the years, but of all the items I received for graduation, this is one that has had the longest lasting impact on my life!

    • Amyromney

For my first mothers day I received mommy and me swim lessons for my 9 month old daughter and me to enjoy.

    • br

The best gift I ever got was my son. After being told I would likely never get pregnant due to endometriosis, I was shocked and delighted to find myself pregnant 6 weeks later. I feel like he was a special gift from God, since I never got pregnant again. He is soon to turn 23 and has been a joy and real blessing!!!

just a few weeks ago, my sister won a Red Envelope gift card from another contest that she entered just for me. i have wanted a “pearl mothers ring” from Red Envelope for several months to represent the two precious babies that i lost to miscarriage. she surprised me with this $50 gift card so i could purchase my ring!! i would love to win something to give back to her :)

    • cory4

My husband gave me a two day, one night get-a-away in a city about 5 hours away for my birthday when the kids were young. This was HEAVEN for a stay at home mom who never gets a break and who is always listening for the kids at night (even when they normally sleep through the night). The time ALONE in the car itself was priceless and I enjoyed myself thoroughly for two days! I came back refreshed and with my batteries recharged. I never knew how much a little “me” time we all needed until my husband gave me those two days!

    • Shanna Stevens

My greatest gift came just this past year. In August we found out that our 4 yr old needed heart surgery, and scheduled it for Sept. She then came down with swine flu the day before the surgery was to take place. Later in October we were finnaly ably to have it done. My gift was when she woke up, turned her head to me and said “oh there you are mommy, I missed you”.

    • Tiffany Davis

The best gift I ever got was from my son Drew. He used to come to the office with me after school would get boared. One day he made me a neaklace out silver paper clips and rite in the middle of the neaklace was a pink paper clip that he bent in to the shape of a heart. It was so touching and I will keep it forever.

    • LadySiren

The greatest gift I ever received was hearing my father say “I love you” one last time. He was dying from terminal cancer in Hawaii, and was living and working in California. He'd been in remission and we thought he was getting stronger but suddenly, he took an immediate turn for the worst. I hopped a plane as soon as I could get a seat and made it…just in time to hear him whisper those three little words for the last time. Then, he slipped into a coma and several hours later went home to God. I'm an only child and a Daddy's Girl, so knowing that he fought to stay conscious until I could get there…it's the greatest give a Daddy could give his little girl.

    • Corie

The best gift I ever got was my three little boys :) What could be better?

    • Mommaof4kiddos

The best gift I ever received was LIFE, which was obvisiouly given to me by my amazing and loving parents. My brothers and I are married now and have kids of our own, 12 grandkids in all!!!! My parent's sacrificied material things to send us to a Christian School and then to College. They have never complained and always supported us. They showed us the love of God, and how he sent his only son, Jesus, so that we might have eternal life(THE TRUE ULTIMATE GIFT-SALVATION). Not only did they talk the talk but they walked the Christian walk. And they still continue to show us love and support, but they also show all 12 of their grandkids love and spend time with each of them(help with school supplies, clothes, etc.) I am so thankful to have such wonderful parents, eventhough nothing I can give them to tell them how thankful and how much I love them would be good enough…I would totally give them the giveway mystery gift!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Ceomishanks

The best gift I ever received was my cousin/friend taking a leave of absence from her job to come and take care of me and my family when I had Leukemia last year for two and a half months during my stem-cell transplant.

    • Trish

As a single parent you have to learn how to do everything by yourself. When I had to have major surgery last fall, my concern was for my two grown sons alone in the waiting room. I ask one of my friends to be there and she came with reinforcements. She brought along my friend Bev, who is terminal from ovarian cancer that went undetected. We have been friends since our daughters were two (they turn 23 in a few weeks), she had locked her daughter in the car at the grocery store and I helped rescue her. I am so grateful they were there for my sons because the surgery took 4 hours and not the 1 1/2 hours scheduled. I would love to surprise Bev with a gift.

    • kadywood

The greatest gift I received was a poem from my son at Christmas asking me to quit smoking. It worked!

    • Spetitt

After my third pregnancy loss, a friend who had also lost a pre-born child, gave me a book called, “I'll Hold You in Heaven; Healings & Hope for the Parent of a Miscarried, Aborted or Stillborn Child”. This book provided scriptural/factual hope and peace to me during these very difficult times and even now.
Since then I have been able to give many of these books to other parents who have faced similar heartache and loss. I am extremely grateful God placed this book in the heart and the hands of my friend to be a source of healing to myself and so many others.

    • Leahmbolton

One of the greatest gifts I've ever recieved was a surprise baby shower for our second child, right after my husband lost his job. Since we had already had a baby and a shower two years before, I didn't expect a second shower! Money was so tight and I was wondering how we would buy diapers and clothes for the new little one. I was so blessed and felt the love and care of Jesus through others.

    • Kimberly0123

The best Christmas gift was from my Grandma. She made me a handwritten notebook full of her special Christmas recipes, it means so much to me!

    • Jasgirl30

The best gift I have ever received is my husband. I am so thankful to the Lord for giving me such a wonderful husband. He is an amazing dad and my best friend.

The best gift I ever received was my son. I have and continue to thank God and my husband.

    • Tnwms42101

As I read all these with tears in my eyes, I think I have to say the best gift I have ever received is the ability from God to have compassion on people and be able to share in the joys and triumphs of life alongside them. My heavenly father, my earthly parents, my spouse, my child, and my friends have all been such a blessing to me and provided me with wonderful gifts that I cherish greatly. However, I am so thankful to have the compassion that I have. Many of you have heartfelt stories and I know if I were Jenny, it would be so hard to decide. Be Blessed all of you!

    • Shannen

One of the best gifts I have received recently was from my mother. My house was broken into about two years ago in December. Someone stole all of my jewelry. It wasn't expensive things but more sentimental to me. I had a favorite ring that I had bought years ago. I was absolutely heartbroken. But this past Christmas, my mother surprised me with the exact same ring. She was with me when I bought the first one and she tracked down the company. I couldn't have been more surprised or pleased. My mother does so much for so many. I am truly blessed to have her in my life.

The best gift I ever got was a second chance at life. I had Mitral Valve Prolapse and Mitral regurgitation. I had to have open heart surgery to fix my valve, and also had to have a maize procedure done to correct the ventricular fibrilation I was starting to have. After they finished the surgery and wheeled me out of the operating room and waiting for the elevator to take me to recover, my heart stopped. They had to rush me back into surgery and open me back up and worked on me for about an hour. They ended up having to put me on a heart pump to keep me alive, as well as a ventilator and many other machines. I was is a coma for two weeks, the doctors were not sure if I was going to make it. I was the sickest person in the hospital. As you can tell I did pull through, and with no major complications. I was 40 when I had that surgery. I celebrate the day of surgery as a birthday now.
I have a second chance and I am going to use it to the best ability that I can. I want to help others and bring them happiness and joy.

One of the best gifts that I have recieved was given to me by my husband. I needed a camera for everyday use. My only camera was 15yrs old from when I was in high school and it did not work too well. I was surprised with it on my birthday this year.

    • Scrapnstamp99

The best gift I've ever received was the gift of eternal salvation! How amazing is it that a perfect God would come to this sinful world to live a sinless life to die a horrible death so that I could be His child and have a daily growing relationship with Him!!! I'd love to be able to be a blessing through this giveaway to a dear friend who is also a Southern Saver who just had a miscarriage!

My best gift ever was given to me by God with some help from my DH. My little boy!

The best gift I have ever received is seriously my husband. That sounds so cliche. But he really is a gift to me and I am so thankful to have him in my life!

The best gift I have received is the my wonderful family. My husband, son, and parents encourage me daily and push me to be a better person and a good listener. I am so grateful for them!

    • Mandy

besides the gift that all of us agree is the best….(kids and husband), I would say it would be the gifts that my kids get me. My kids go shopping with my sil every year for christmas gifts for us. The kids pick out some of the greatest things (the kids are 7 and 3) So the gifts are things they “think” we need. Like a beer mug and ice scratcher for the car for my husband. And more forks and a wine glass for me.

    • Aprilandjohn0203

Hiya there! My best gift ever received would have to be my Christmas present when I was 4! Yes, 4! My Mom and Dad had a tough year financially, so Christmas was going to be pretty slim. My Mom started early and began making as many things as she could for the ones on their Christmas list: Curtains for one grandmother, a table cloth for the other; knitted mittens for my Grandpas and knitted house shoes for my sisters Kindergarten teacher. She also made dolls and sold them that year, so when my sister and I saw 2 different looking dolls being made, we asked the typical question “who is this one for?” My Mom would simply say “for a very special little girl”!

I remember very clearly that Christmas morning opening the wrapping paper and seeing my doll. My 'April' doll and my sisters 'Betsy' doll. Mine with blond braided hair and blue eyes and my sisters with brown hair, blue eyes, and freckles! They both came with a red heart on her soft bodied chest that said “I LOVE YOU”!

    • Speaking of presents that came with a bow- my husband surprised me with a Kitchen Aid Mixer for my birthday- a red one. love it!

My three healthy, happy boys are my favorite gift of all time, I am so blessed to have them in my life, they make it a daily adventure. Thankful to God and my hubby

My epass to let me get through the local toll roads here in FLORIDA….Before I had received the epass I had to hunt for toll money under my car seats, in my change purse, even my kids piggy banks! Guess they don't have to worry about that anymore…LOL

      Thank You Hubby!

    • KFroisland

This year for mothers day, my three year old daughter got me necklaces that resemble Giada's from “Everyday Italian” on the food network. She's crazy about her! She said she also wanted to get me a shirt that Giada wears and the same hair too! LOL

    • Carolinagirl378

The best gift our family has ever gotten was my nephews Kidney!! He received a Kidney Transplant earlier this month and we havent been able to thank to Donor's family yet. I hope to one day be able to thank them for their wonderful gift of life.

    • Dawn

Everyday is a gift, honestly there have been so many gifts and bessings in my life that it would literally sound as though I were accepting a grammy award if I got started!

    • Melanie

The best gift I ever received was given by someone I don't even know. I gave birth to twins 5 years ago that passed away, and we didn't have any clothes small enough to fit them. Some wonderful women had made a beautiful smocked gown for my daughter, and a gorgeous robe for my son. We were so thankful to be able to honor then with these beautiful garments after they passed away. I still think about those anonymous women to this day, and I hope they know that they gave me the best gift they could have ever given me.

Several years ago, a friend of mine was talking to her husband about what it would be like if they won the lottery. She said that if she won, she would buy me a dust buster (we had talked earlier that I would like to have one but wasn't willing to spend the money). Her husband told my friend that they didn't have to win the lottery, she could just get it for me now. It wasn't my birthday or anything and she gave me a dust buster. That has been several years ago but I still use it just about everyday. I would love to win her a surprise.

    • Laylasmeme

In my 57 years on this earth I have received many gifts both material and non-material. Obviously I agree with everyone here who has named the gift of eternal salvation and love of family. However, when I was 5 years old my family home burned to the ground in the middle of the night. My parents and my brothers and sister and I were awakened by a neighbor who was sitting up with her invalid mother and saw the fire. As a result we all got out of the house safely. We did not have homeowner's insurance so were left with no home or belongings. Through the outpouring of love and support from our church family and friends we were able to start over.

    • For Christmas my senior yr of high school my parents surprised me with a new car….it was not an expectation in our family and it was completely out of the blue. I had NO clue and was so genuinely surprised (I am almost impossible to surprise). We didn't get “things” growing up….weren't a keepin' up kind of family…so I knew that it was something they had worked hard and saved for and was so in shock. It'll always be a little hard to top that one as far as physical presents go and I would love to be able to give a surprise gift to my parents one day!!!

    • Lee Ann

Wow! It is hard to pick one, but the gift from God (Salvation) is of course #1 along with my children. But if I had to pick a physical gift…when my husband and I got married he gave me a ring that had my mother's diamond in it. It meant so much to me!

    • Aprilligon

It was Christmas last year. My husband and I were struggling (he had lost his job) to get through Christmas and we decided that we wouldn't get one another anything to cut down on costs. On Christmas morning he handed me a small item wrapped in tissue paper. It was a small lighthouse made of a very thin glass. I was sorta upset that he had gotten me anything because I stuck to our plan; however, it warmed my heart because normally I am the one who does those kinds of things;)

    • Rwkingv

One of my most memorable gifts was at Christmastime from my husband. It was a 6 piece power tool set, with drill bits to match! Now I had my own and wouldn't be borrowing his.

    • Kkathen

The best gift I ever received was from my 5 year old son. We were at Frankie's Funpark, and he had collected many tickets from playing the games. He could have chosen something big for himself, but instead he got a bracelet for me, with a ruby-red stone in the center. I still have it after 17 years!

    • Jkroberts622

This past May, I was given a surprise 30th birthday party from my husband. I had relatives fly in from Ohio and the party was kid-free. It was at a lake-front park, catered dinner and my cake looked like a flower pot of gardenias (and it tasted awesome)! I felt so special and thought about. A lot of my friends and family pitched in to make it a great day!

    • Vigorpete

I just had a baby on July 5th, and the best gift that I received for the baby was that my parents brought my grandmother to town from three hours away to be there when the baby was born. She is the last living grandparent that my husband and I have, and it was so special to see her bond with our newborn and our other daughter that turned four on July 6th.

    • Tabi_jay100704

A gold heart necklace my mom gave me when I graduated. Inside the heart was a sillouette of a mom holding her baby up in the air (I was already a mom :)

    • bates2010

The best gift? A note sent by an anonymous person letting me know in my honor she'd sponsored a family of 5 children for Christmas because she'd observed me being kind in the grocery store, and wanted to “pay the kindness forward”. She sent the note to my workplace, as I was wearing a shirt with the company's name on it. She just signed her first name.

The best gift I ever got was a gluten-free carrot cake for my birthday.

A theatre I was working at had renovations and was taking donations to increase capacity. My aunt bought a seat in my honor so I now have my name on a plaque underneath one of the seats, and that will be there for a long time (the theatre is part of a historical square).

The best gift I've ever gotten is love from my 3 kids. They are the sunshine in my life. Watching them grow and learn is awesome. I would give my giveaway to my mother in law who just lost her husband this spring…I would do anything to put a smile on her face!

The best Gift I ever received was the Gift of Salvation from Christ my Lord. It has truly changed my life.

When I was 12 years old my mother went to a drug and alcohol rehab to get help. When she went, I had no family and would have to go into a foster care situation of some type if no one could keep me. A family in my church stepped in and gave me a place to live. I will forever be grateful. This is the best gift I've ever recieved: a place to live as a 12 year old, but mostly love and friendship!

    • LisaM

My husband and I were young, newly married, and with very little money. He worked an extra shift just to earn a little to go get me a Christmas present. I had no idea and was extremely suprised to wake up to presents under our “Charlie Brown” tree. I had nothing for him in return, but he joyfully watched me open what little he could provide.

    • Andrea B

I was living away from home, and my roommate cut out a picture of my aquatic frog, bought a fish bowl and placed his picture in there to look at whenever I felt homesick. So sweet!

    • Amy

The best gift I ever received, although I didn't realize it then, was my college tuition. My parents struggled (a lot) to put me through college and make sure that I didn't have student loans after graduation. It wasn't until I had graduated, married, and had a mortgage of my own that I realized what a huge undertaking that was for my parents. I am VERY lucky to have such a wonderful mom and dad!

    • Branpas

i would say the best gift (so far) would be when my husband took me to Disney World for my 30th birthday last year. He made it a surprise and on the way said “every princess should spend a birthday at Disney” It was sweet and spontaneous and romantic. My soon to be best gift is the baby growing inside right now!!

    • Carissaengle

our daughter was the best gift we ever received

    • One of the best gifts I've gotten to date is my Garmin watch. It has every stat a triathlete wants to know and more. I hope I get to give away this giveaway!

    • Deborah

My best gift…one Christmas, I dropped a Christmas ornament my sister had given me years before. Thinking it was nor repairable, I dropped it in the trash and thought no more about it. On Christmas morning, imagine my surprise when I opened the gift from my teenaged son and found my ornament which he had carefully glued back together! It touched me so much, and spoke volumes about my son's heart – even though he said nothing and just smiled!!!

    • Michellelhs

Wow, picking the best gift I ever got is hard but I think my favorite is the gift my husband made me for our first anniversary. He bought a book on oragami and learned how to fold paper tulips (they are my favorite flowers!). He folded a dozen purple tulips and made a “garden” for them out of a shoebox and easter grass. I always loved that gift because he put so much time and thought into it.

My husband gave me an iTouch a few weeks before our daughter was born. It was a great sanity saver when I was up at 3 am breast feeding. It also helped me keep track of her feedings, diaper changes and even meds when she was sick. Now I use it for email, Calendar and lists. I have all my info at my fingertips. I love using it tocheck your site. Have you considered building a southern savers application?

For Christmas, my sister in law made me a scrapbook of my baby's first year. My Mom passed away 3 years ago, so my little boy has never met her. Anyway, Sister in Law did a special page with pictures of Mom. The book was amazing! Tears for sure!

The best gift I ever received was my husband….he is truely a gift from God…..I may not like everything he does but I wouldn't want to spend one day of the rest of my life without him!!

The best gift I ever received was a photo album of my wedding ceremony & reception as my husband & I were getting ready to leave the reception. One of our guests took pictures throughout the whole day & then ran to Walgreens to get them developed to put into the album for us. This was the best gift b/c we were able to look at pictures while we were on the flight to our honeymoon.

God, Life and my Family… Thank you God!!!!

The best gift I ever got was the day God chose to give me to my Mother. She is such a wonderful loving person, who has beaten the odds many times. Was not married when I was conceived, been through a couple of horrible marriages, and managed to raise me by herself! To her credit, she raised the first female college graduate in our family…I have a BS in Engineering and I have my professional engineer's license. I never could have done that without her love and support. She worked hard, often working swing shift and only seeing me (when I was less than 3) for a couple of hours a day. I cannot even imagine how hard it was on her, so that is the best gift I have ever received.

The best gift I ever got was from a former employer. I worked at a bank and they paid for me to go to night school so I could get my degree in accounting. It took 10 years to get it at night but I did it! Thanks to them I have been able to support my family as a single mom and learned that you should never stop trying to improve your life.

My husband bought me a little camera to keep in my purse. That way I normally always have it handy to captures memories and moments of our four wonderful children. He gave it to me the first day or two of our vacation. I just think it was extremely thoughtful of him.

From my husband on our 3rd aniversary. a leather framed (1st year is leather) paper copy( paper is 2nd year) of a victoria secret stock( cotton is 3rd year). With an inscription to my beautiful wife may we have many more. So the tradition started to get each other a traditional anniversary gift.

While I was struggling to get through college, someone secretly (dropped it off at my door step) gave me a laundry basket filled with household items (laudry detergent, soap, set of towels, non-perishable foods, etc.) when I did not have a single items in there and very much needed it.

When my husband and I had been married only a year, my boss took us to Hawaii as a thank you for all my hard work in helping her grow her business that previous year. Now I'm a stay at home mom with our three kids and money is always tight, so we treasure that experience. It's something we never would have been able to do on our own. It was just so generous.

When I first started teaching, I wanted a small bell for my desk. I search all over and could never find what I was looking for. My dad, which no one would really consider to be sentimental, found one while out at a jockey lot and picked it up for me. It was really sweet because I hadn't even realized that he paid attention to the fact that I was looking for one. It was perfect…not only because it was exactly what I was looking for, but also because it was a special gift from my dad.

    • mediamaven

My daughter took all my favorite recipes from several notebooks and recipe card boxes, typed them up, inserted them in page holders, and put them in a three ring binder as a Christmas gift. Now, I just pop out the recipe I need and don't worry about it getting splattered. Great gift!

    • Donnamichele

One of the best gifts I ever received was a pair of snow boots. While this may seem odd, it was because my father took the time to search all over Charleston, SC to find them for me. That was over 10 years ago and those boots have kept my feet warm and toasty through many snows in VA!

One of our amazing men in our church where my husband is the youth minister, knew that I loved the vintage truck he was refurbishing—-it was a 1963 yellow Ford pickup—–well….someone knocked on our door on my birthday and I answered it and outside sat that beautiful truck with a big red bow——HE GAVE ME THAT TRUCK——he said that he had been working on it for months to give it to me—–that was an amazing gift.

The best gift I ever received was the gift of life. This has allowed me to enjoy my two wonderful children as well as the many autistic children that I work with. Life is the best gift of all!

    • The best gift I have received has been my husband. So I guess that means that the person who gave me that gift was my Mother-in-Law : ) since she gave birth to him.

    • Katy Parish Mlx9

My son was born in December and for mother's day my normally UNsappy husband bought me a necklace with our son's birthstone in it. It was SO thoughtful!

    • Heatherschadt

I have received many gifts in my lifetime with christmas, birthday, anniversaries, and so on. But my most special gift was from my parents (father) and it wasn't even for me. When I first introduced my parents to my boyfriend (now husband) it was a quick dinner before he left for his mothers birthday in another state. Two weeks after that dinner, my father sent a card to my boyfriend. The card said “I left my most precious luggage (a joke of a previous trip) in Florida. I am leaving this luggage for you to take care of.” The gift of my father accepting my boyfriend was more than I could have ever expected from one dinner. I can only hope that when my daughter grows my husband remembers this.

I have been given many great gifts in my life tangiable and intangiable. I want to take this chance to say THANK YOU to you Jenny for starting this blog, sharing your couponing tips, hosting seminars. YOu have given me and so many others to opportunity to learn how to save so much money in our shopping trips. My food bill has decreased so much thanks to you and I've been able to buy so much stuff to give away. My children are learning how to save at the grocery store and how to wait until something is on sale and I have a coupon before we buy it. I've been using coupons at piggly Wiggly during their deal of redeeming coupons and getting Greenbax. Well I went shopping and bought shoes and uniforms costing over$125.00 but I only paid $5.00 in tax because the coupons I used earned all the greenbax books I used. How awesome is that?? So a great big THANK YOU again for all you do and the gift you've given us……SAVING MONEY!!!!

This year for mother's day, my hubby made me a raised, garden bed. It was so special to me because I was planning on making one myself but he suprise me with it. It has been the best gift so far for me.

This year, Mother's Day weekend, my mom kept all the grandkids and sent my two sisters and I to the local spa for pedicures together. We laughed and visited and enjoyed being all together. Mom even sent over a special delivery of our favorite beverage from a nearby coffee shop. Our mom is the best and deserves a gift!!!!

    • Karanburgdorf

The greatest gift I ever got was my “grandson”. Although we share no bloodline (his birth mother is my daughter's best friend), I have been privileged to be a part of his life from the moment his parents announced the pregnancy. He had a rough start, spending a while in neonatal intensive care with heart problems, but is now thriving. At eight months, he brightens my life daily.

The Greatest Gift I ever received was the Gift of Jesus Christ, my Lord, Savior, and my very Life. I wish I was a better giver as He is.

    • KMcHRN

The best gift I have received would have to be the gift that keeps on giving. I am a nurse and with my chosen career I am fortunate enough to meet many people. I learn a little something from everyone I take care of. So their wisdom is the greatest gift….

    • Anita

The greatest gift I ever received was the birth of my first grandson, Riley. He has been nothing less than a complete joy in my life. Since his birth I have also been blessed with four more grandsons, Aiden, Blake, Gary and Nolan.

My husband once put together an entire photo album for me. He said that he had been thinking lately about how much I made him smile, and that he was thankful that we were so happy together. He went through and blew up pictures so that it highlighted only our smiles together, and gave me a “Smiles Book.” It was truly the sweetest and most thoughtful gift!

    • Andrea

My cousin sent me the book, “Streams in the Desert” after we got the news that my husband had a serious condition. She had used this book to comfort herself when her son had a bullfighting accident resulting in a brain injury. The book was an incredible daily devotional that was an outflowing of comfort during a desert of fear and frustration.

When I was laid off last fall, my best friend gave me over $180 in gift cards that she had received so that I could Christmas shop for my 3 grandchildren, plus loaned me her artificial tree for the festivities. She even took me shopping so I didn't have to pay for gas. Now that's a REALLY GOOD best friend and best ever gift!

    • Modmia

The best gift I've ever received was refinished outdoor furniture from my in-laws. The furniture had been my great-grandmother's and she cherished it. When she died, it went to my mother. We used it on our porches for over 30 years. My mom remarried and left the furniture at her house when she moved. My father-in-law went and retrieved the furniture before the trashmen got it. He refinished and restored this old metal glider set to looking like new. My in-laws presented to me as a Christmas gift. I was delighted and bawling since they never told me they had found it and refinished it. I thought it was lost forever when my mom moved.

My best gift ever was my first child, Christy, born 35 years ago. I was only 20 and this was the day that I really knew that God loved ME! God loved me enough to let me mother this precious child! I went on to have 2 more wonderful children and I am now “Nana” to 7 grandchildren!

    • Lmoore77

My best gift is Christ sending his Son for me! No greater gift than Salvation!

    • Barbeeba

I have received many wonderful gifts in my lifetime that have brought tears to my eyes. A gift card to have my eyes examined when I didn't have the money, a new camcorder shortly after my son was born, and tickets to see Wicked the musical. The best gift of all though would have to be those family members and friends that have touched my life in so many ways.

    • Kay

My best gift ever came 15 years was after Hurricane Andrew. I had lost all of my photos and yearbooks and trinkets (with my parents house). Then, at my 20 year reunion, a friend had made a small album of pictures of us that they had saved. I had not seen these photos, and a wave of familiarity and nostalgia came over me. I now have evidence that yeah, Mom was cool(and skinny!) back in the day!

Becoming a mom was the best gift I could ever receive. My two little ones bring me joy every day. I am so lucky to be their mama.

I received a embroidery machine from my husband for my birthday, what a grand surprise because I never even knew he was looking for me a machine and I did not have a clue until he told me to close my eyes and once I reopened my eyes there it was…

Best gift I ever received was my Bible. I remember thinking great…then…but now I use it all the time. Thank you Wendy…my sister.

I can't keep count of all the neat gifts I've been given in my lifetime, however I could say my brother takes the cake for the spa package i got on my birthday last year. a day at the spa is a rare gift, especially in today's economy, but it was very thoughtful & the timing was perfect (i was preggers w/ babe #3).

The best gift I ever received was my children…Thank you Jesus!!!!!

    • Mary Banks

The best gift I recieved was from my oldest daughter. A few years ago she had her things in storage and the storage building flooded. She lost almost everything including her photo's. For Christmas I made her a scrapbook of everyone in the family including her two children (of which she had no more photo's of). It took me about 3 months to do, without her knowing it. The look on her face as she opened it, She couldn't wait to open the rest of her presents to sit down and really look through the book. Oh how excited she was. The look on her face is the best Christmas present ever and priceless when we give from the heart.
