    • Melissa

I have a couple of coups that say “Use at Walgreens only” yet they are manuf q's. Can I use them anywhere?

      • carrie

You have to ask the store manager of the store you want to use the coupons in.

      • That word “only” usually means that other stores will refuse them.

    • klink

Those Glade Sense and Sprays are 5 bucks at walmart

      • tygirl13

But you would only be able to use the $3 off coupon, so they would be the same price. I hate walmart so anytime I can get something somewhere else for the same price I do…lol…

    • MissyB

anybody got any ideas for “filler” items that are $.10??? Jenny usually posts a few filler items, but I don't see any this week. Also does anybody know if the item will actually count as a “filler” item (meaning to add another item so that God-forsaken register won't beep b/c of having too many q's and too few items) if the item you are using as a filler needs an in-ad q to make it the cheap “filler” price??????? Not sure if I worded my question so that you guys will know what I'm talking about…

      • Firstbrownie

        I've always used the in-store coupon/item as a filler….it shouldn't be a problem

      • Alslaughter2

I would like to know of some filler items too… I have been struggling with that the past few weeks myself.

      • Kim

I found sheets of stickers in the toy aisle for 30 cents not quite the 10 cents Jenny usually finds but I can use them at school as prizes. I also use novelty pencils they are usually between 25 and 30 cents if I can't find anything in the ad to use as a filler.

      • I saw some power bars on clearance for .37 cents, you might also check in the clearance section…. I used to find hair ties on clearance for .20 cents all the time… just gotta keep your eye out.

      • guest

ck close to check out-candy 3/99 -little debbies-25-50 cents ea-but not at cosmetic ck out

      • SFLS

I usually buy the single roll of toilet paper as a filler, usually .50. That way, we always have TP!

        • ireneY

We have quite a few rolls bought as fillers. They are as soft and absorbent as the Sunday ads! LOL!

      • Aprilnunn

At my local Wags, they are clearancing out a ton of back-to-school items for super cheap. I found small highlighters for only $.09 each!

      • kathyscoupons

I think I'd rather use the 79 cent foil as my filler this week.

      • ireneY

Jenny, it would be so helpful to start a “filler item found” tab in the Walgreens section at the top!

      • Melissa

I usually get another newspaper. Tues-Sat they are only .75 and I figure if I at least use one coupon from it I broke even.

      • photomama

Sometimes you can get a little chocolate at the register, like a choco-covered cherry or a mint. Those are usually between .10 and .25 = cheap & easy filler!

    • Ahensley01

the PG (8/29) coupon for Crest Toothpaste 4 oz + or Liquid Gel is actually for .75 rather than 1.00 as stated above.

      • lowcountry shopper

depends on your area, for some a buck for others .75

    • Enscott

What are filler coupons you are talking about? They would be nice to know about because i keep having problems w/ walgreens

      • macboy

There aren't “filler coupons.” There are filler items that you can buy to meet the “number of coupons must not be greater than the number of items in the transaction” rule. For example, if there were a sale on Crest and you had a manufacturer's coupon and a Walgreens coupon, you would have to buy something else for the amount of coupons to match the number of items. Purchase a candy bar or a travel size lotion or something and that fills the gap.

        • christa

Actually it's the # of MANUFACTURER'S coupons that cannot exceed the number of items you are purchasing. So you could have more coupons than items if some of them are store Qs and you are stacking with MQs. RRs count as manu. Qs.

          • Mandy

Thanks Christa! I've been understanding that wrong for a long time now!

      • ISPYVW

WALGREENS IS Soooooo HARD TO FIGURE OUT, BUT IT IS WELL WORTH IT!!!

    • Ahensley01

good to know! thanks for the heads up about the crest coupon!

    • regina

at my walgreens they would not let me use an rr and a manufacture coupon because they said it was 2 manufacture coupon on one item as the rr is a manufacture coupon.

      • Mandi

Yes, that is correct. That is why you need a “filler” item cheaper than the coupon and then you can use both as long as it doesn't exceed the total.

    • regina

I always thought you could not pay w/ an rr if you are expecting an rr in return.

      • macboy

You can use RRs to purchase another item from that the manufacturer whose product generated the RR. For example, I can use an RR from Crest toothpaste to purchase Neutrogena that comes with RRs. But I cannot use the RR from Crest to purchase to purchase a Frebreeze product that comes with RR (because they are both from Proctor & Gamble).

        • macboy

ugh. typos typos. Let me try that again.

You can't use RRs to purchase another item from the manufacturer whose product generated the original RR. Well, you can purchase another item, but the RRs won't print for the 2nd item. For example, I can use an RR from Crest toothpaste to purchase a Neutrogena product that comes with RRs. But I cannot use the RR from Crest to purchase another Crest item or even Frebreeze with the expectation of receiving more RRs.

      • ISPYVW

YOU CAN, JUST NOT FROM THE SAME PRODUCT. AND YOU HAVE TO BUY AS MANY PRODUCTS AS YOU HAVE COUPONS OR RR.

    • rattymatazz

Thanks for putting this up before the sale begins! I really appreciate it!

    • genesisgirls

this is fantastic!! thank you for this site! and that it is FREE!! how wonderful! Bless You!

    • Samantha White

The coupon inserts from the Roanoke Times are beginning to vary so much it is impossible to get get the best deals. Has anyone else noticed this?

      • Pawsandclaws3

Yes, it's very frustrating. Last week we were supposed to get a smart source, red plum and p&g. All i got in my roanoke times was a red plum and p&g. Where was the smart source? Luckily, i live in an area where I can get the bristol paper too. The coupons aren't as good over all, but at least they had a smart source included.

        • KIDZRYOURLEGACY

I'd trade you a smartsource for a p&g… we didn't receive any p&g last week.

      • Havepetswilltravel

I've noticed quite a bit that the coupons listed aren't showing up in my coupon mailers at all. Ex. the Degree Clinical coupon (RP 8/29) isn't anywhere to be found in my 8/29 RP. I've noticed this with many coupons in the SS, too. I see a coupon listed by date and mailer, go to look for it, only to find that I'm searching for a coupon that isn't in there. VERY frustrating! My RP 8/29 has a Sherwin Williams add on the front cover, and the back cover is a Lowe's water filtration coupon add. Is this different from everyone elses? I'm soooo confused!

    • Daune

What is Kroger Home Mailer. Thanks

      • wendy robbins

it is a coupon booklet that is mailed to your home from kroger

    • Ss310279

Just got a FREE RedBox Code Catilina from Pepsi!!! Woo Hoo!!

    • Tutibugs2

I actually found an Arm & Hammer toothpaste coupon. It's .75/1 off ANY A & H toothpaste or Whitening booster 2.5 oz or larger. That should work with the A & H deal on here. It was in my SS 8/22. I'm in the Atlanta area.

    • Savergirl

Okay, I've put up with Walgreens for too long making me feel like I'm doing something wrong using coupons. I've decided I'm sticking to CVS and Rite-Aid where I'm always welcome. Now I feel a little better – thanks for reading my vent. :)

      • Hhnp08

I agree! CVS and Rite Aid are much nicer!

        • No CVS or Rite Aid here! I live in the UP of Michigan, and sometimes our options are limited! They just built a Walgreens here about a year ago.

    • Gail

I am still a novice at this and have a question. Someone told me you can use the RR's at Publix. True? or False? If true, can you use the Rite Aid $5. for watching the video at another store?

      • jta

Yes you can use the RR at Publix; however, some Publix stores vary in allowance, or so I've found out. Some stores will let you use them all in 1 transaction, some stores will let you break up your transactions to apply 1 to each order, and some will only let you you 1 per your trip to their store no matter the total order or number of orders you try to do. Good luck!

    • Hhnp08

My Walgreen's told me I couldn't pay for my items with a RR and get a RR in return….they were totally different products. I gave up….the manager was clueless as well! By the time I left there I was so frustrated I wanted to scream!

      • Melissa

Mine told me I couldn't use a 1.00 coupon on a .99 item or use a $ off coupon with a BIGI. I told them to read their policy that came out last week and then complained to corporate. Definetely done with Walgreens.

      • Kathy

You can't use a RR to pay for the same item and still get another RR. Their system will allow you to use it if you want to, but you won't get another one. To get the best deal, you need to use the RRs on different items.

      • Kathy

Also meant to say that you can't have more coupons, including RRs, than you have items. That is why you will often see a filler item listed on the scenerios. Next time just tell them to try it. The RRs will print out whether the cashier knows what he is doing or not.

      • Lynn

yep..call corporate. the only time u shouldn't get an RR on an RR item is if u use an RR that came from that same item. for ex. last week if u bought the breathe right strips for $4 and got a $4 RR back, then turned around the use that same RR to buy another breathe right strips, no RR. otherwise, they owe u money!

    • Dgaines

Check your stores for glad single oil refills on clearance for $1.09. Used B1oil G1 free warmer coupon, as filler when I bought the carmex lotion. $4.99 + $1.09, used $4.00 rr and $2.00rr (no colgate rr's), getting $4.00 rr back. Check the 12 pks of pepsi for coupons. Found coupons for $1.00 off 2 twelve pks and $1.00 off 3 twelve pks. Coupons are yellow and good until 12/10.

    • Davisla1

I was told that it is not the amount of items you buy when you use coupons, but it's the actual dollar amount you have available. You have to have at least 50 cents leftover in the subtotal after you use your coupons. Is this true? Because I've been having a lot of trouble using my RR to pay for my items. I would have like 2.48 in the subtotal and try to use 2 RR, but they will not let me even if I have more items than coupons. Help?

      • Hungerforgod1

It's not that it has to be 50 cents, it just has to be less than the RR BEFORE taxes. So if your pretax total was 1.98 and you tried to use the 2 RR, it would not work. It's also the number of items you have. You have to have one item per man q or RR. (Store q's don't count toward this.) Hope this helps.

    • Tracey

Garnier is 5RR when you spend 20.00. So I bought 3 of the haircolors for 5.99 with in ad coupon, used 3 of the $3 mnfr coupons and spent 8.97 OOP and got back 5.00. Great deal! 3 haircolors for 3.97 after RR.

    • Susanne

Does any one know if we did the other Zegerid mail-in rebate from July if we would qualify for this one? It looks like a different rebate.

Zegerid OTC Acid Reducer 14 ct. $10

-$10 Mail-In Rebate for Zegerid OTC Acid Reducer 14 ct (prints at register)

    • Traci-bryant

According to my Walgreens, if I use a RR to pay for my purchase, I will not receive any RR for the products I am purchasing, no matter what the purchase. Ex. I had $10 RR, went in to buy the soft drinks that had a $5 RR, no deal. Was told that the RR would cancel out any RR that would be printed from my purchase…. the manager agreed with the cashier….thought I'd share in case this is affecting anyone else….makes purchase scenarios impossible…

      • kcreviews

I don't think this is true. I'm almost positive I've done it before. I use RRs most of the time when I shop, and I get them back every time, too. This is confusing.

      • Wooo6dublin

You should have been able to use your rr and receive a rr. As long as you are not using a rr from the product you are buying. Ex: Buy crest get rr, if you use the crest rr to buy another crest you will not receive a rr. If you use your crest rr to buy a different product offering a rr, you'll get a rr for product bought. I printed a copy of the coupon / rr policy found at I Heart Wags and carry it with me. It is from their corporate website, hope this helps.

      • Jodie

Same thing happened to me a few weeks ago. I used RR (different company) and no new ones printed. I was told by two people that if you use them, it will not print a new one (even if it's a different company). But last week and this week, I did get RR when I used RR. Who knows why?

    • NSBsaver

FYI… At wags to today I saw some great orange sticker deals!

-Vicks cough/cold medicine was marked down to $1.89 (and I used a -$1.50 Q so $.39 for PM cough medicine!!)

-A big package of Huggies wipes were marked down to $3.99 (from $6.99???)

-Some Huggies (I don't remember the details)

-And the Carmex lip deal ($2.99/ $2.00 ecb) goes til the end of the month!!!

      YIPPEE!!!!!

    • Jaybird114blue

hello at my walgreen I tried to buy the .99 wheat this and use a dollar coupon I couldn't use it he said it only 99cents I couldn't use so I didn't buy

      • kcreviews

They should have manually reduced the coupon value to .99 and let you have it.

    • DiamondDoll4385

At both my local Walgreens they had 15 oz bottles of Suave Shampoo and conditioner for $1. I used my $2RR from the Quaker Oatmeal deal (which I used two $1 coupons on to make it only $3.00 for 2) and a $1/2 coupon for the Suave and got four bottles for $1. Only thing was I could have gotten it for free if I had a second coupon. But thought I would share anyway. No RR for these, but you save a little more and stock up. 60 oz for a dollar isn't bad anyway.

    • Maggiec

Today I purchased the triaminic cough strips on sale and used the printable coupon. I got a catalina for a free redbox movie.

    • Super Frustrated!

I can't begin to describe how upset I am… I teach middle school and when I lecture, I want class participation… so I often pass out candy for those that participate and add to the class discussion. So, on my way home, I went to a local Walgreens to stock up on candy. The ad specifies that all Mars, Nestle, Hershey and Necco products that are fun or snack size between the weight of 10-22 ounces are on sale for 2/$5. However the computer scanned it them at $6.99. The manager came over and said to adjust it to the advertised price. When the cashier completed the order, I handed her the Walgreen's September Coupon Book so she could scan the coupon for the Mars, Nestle and Hershey products. She said that she could not accept the store coupon. After requesting to speak with the manager, he came over and agreed with the cashier – they would not further discount the “already adjusted price.” I wanted to clear this with the district manager, so I asked for the contact information and asked the cashier to cancel the candy items and ring in the remaining items.
She then began to explain why she would not accept the coupons over and over. I repeatedly (and quietly) explained that I understood and to please cancel the order and allow me to purchase the other items. She THEN began to lecture me on how was rude and should allow her to finish what she had to say.

When the manager returned, I was clearly upset and explained that I was embarrassed and berated – and I had never been treated so poorly before. He was confused and thought that I had gone mad because he had not treated me with disrespect… so, I explained that it was after he walked away. Of course, this set off the cashier who began cutting me off and speaking over me AGAIN. Fortunately, the manager stopped her and explained that she was berating at that very moment.

I completed my sale (after having the manager explain that I could, in fact, use 6 manufacturers coupons on 6 items, regardless of B1G1). I left the store and called the corporate customer service as the district office was already closed. CS said that the coupon should have been honored and that it was Walgreen's mistake that the price scanned incorrectly. So… I went to the Walgreens by my house, as she assured me that there should be no problems.

Walgreens stop #2: I asked to speak with the manager when I walked in to make sure that the sale and coupon was correct and acceptable. He said that there would not be a problem. So, I went to fill my basket and noticed that their sale signs read that the items were $5.99 each (even though the price advertised in the flyers stated 2/$5). He then proceeded to tell me that “Jumbo Bags” were not included. Correct me if I'm wrong, but Jumbo describes the size of the bag… the contents were 17.5-19 oz snack and fun size candy bars, so, it should still be on sale… right?
I asked him to show me where I could find snack/fun size items that were near the 20oz limit. He walked me to the regular candy aisle and said that only the regular snack size bags were included in the sale (all which hovered around 11 oz). So, I walked him back to the seasonal aisle to point out that some bags did not state big/jumbo … and asked if they would work, to which he changed the story and said that none of the Halloween items were eligible. He called corporate — they did not have an answer and didn't know either way – and since he is the assistant manager, he would not authorize the sale. I asked if the store's policy was to NOT honor their own flier — and he would not answer, he just repeated that he could not authorize the sale price.
I know this is VERY long, but I've never had a problem before, nor have I ever been lectured by a cashier. Have I read the advertisement incorrectly? Was I wrong? Has anyone else had a problem with this sale? I didn't even attempt to stack the manufacturers coupon with the store coupon!

      • Mcleodsc

Sorry this happened to you. Our WAGS has stopped putting sales tags on the sales items or RR items. This has annoyed me to the point that if I cannot find the product after a minute or two, I give up looking for it. I run into other customers obviously searching for an item with bewildered looks too. WAGS is losing alot of sales because we cannot find the correct item and we give up looking.

        • My Walgreens is often out of SALES items, even on the first or second day of the sale! I've gone there with coupons and been unable to use them because they're out of the items. Frustrating! I've learned to go early in the week. They only had one of an item that was BOGO, and they let me have it for half price, but they should have had enough to cover their sale!

      • Lynn

Sorry to be a bummer but I think you are reading the ad wrong. The 10-22 oz is on the size of the bag not the candy within the bag.

        • Super Frustrated!

Hmmm… Maybe I wasn't clear… I was very upset when I wrote that rant last night. The bags of candy hovered around 19.75 ounces. The individual candies INSIDE the bags were “snack” or “fun” size – which fell within all of the advertisement's parameters.

Update: Both stores (Clearwater on Cleveland & Largo on Indian Rocks Rd, FL) both called regarding the customer service complaint. While one manager was a bit snide, they both agreed that it was not handled properly – and that the cashier has been “talked to” regarding her behavior before – and again today. Both locations have cleared that I can purchase as many bags of candy (within the stated ad) for the advertised price AND use the $1 off coupon, so that I will pay $1.50 for each bag. However, I questioned both on their policy of honoring the corporate's advertised specials, and they both remained strong on their personal policies of taking each situation case by case and that there are “no what ifs?”
If the stores were franchises or if Walgreens Corporate had repealed the ad, I would understand if they did not honor the deal. This was just two cases of very bad business practices and terrible customer service.

          • Rebecca

I'm here in your area, and the Walgreens on Cleveland is ALWAYS more expensive. Try the Walgreens on Missouri and Bel-Air. I usually don't have a problem there and even when something goes wrong, they are usually not rude about it!

      • Hi there

If I may, what walgreens is this, i would hope it's not the one I'm working at!

    • Gail reply to JTA

Thanks so much for the answer to my question reguarding the RR's at another store! I am going to try it!

    • You can also get V-8 Splash at Meijer for $.046!

    • pretty sure today was my LAST trip to walgreen's. i was excited about the sense & spray deal, so off i went with my q's in hand. when i got to the register the cashier rung up my transaction and then i handed her my q's. i had 1 sense & spray (which was on sale for 4.99 at my wags) 1 mentos gum .85 and 1 vicks vapor stick. she scanned the wags q for the sense & spray, $2 RR from last week, and then the man q for the sense & spray which wouldn't ring up. she said “i'm sorry i can't take this q.” i asked her why and she said you can't use the same q on one item. i kindly said that they weren't the same q b/c one was a wags q and the other was a man q. she said i'm sorry ma'am. while i was very upest, i kindly said ok and left with my items ONLY due to the fact that there were 4 people in line behind me. Correct me if i'm wrong, but can't you use a man q and wags q together? Sorry walgreens but you just lost a customer today!

      • Dgaines

yes, you can use a wags q and man q on same item as long as you have enough items for 2 coupons. Did this when dentyne gum was on sale and ended up getting it for free. try switching the order in which you give the coupons. use the wag q / man q from paper then pay with your rr's.
Some managers and cashiers could use help with their customer service skills. Then others go out of their way to help. I don't think everyone understands how rr's work and it's easier / safer to say can't be done. Regardless of the problem, no cashier or manager should ever lecture a customer. I'm a cashier (for a different company) and would never treat or be treated in that manner. Don't give up, you can go onto walgreens web site for the rr policy. It may also help answer any questions you may have. FYI….. febreeze noticeables starter reg. $8.99 on clearance for $2.29, p&g $1.00 off 8/29, it's $1.29.

        • happymomof2

I had a problem with my local Walgreens and I called the management. I told them the problem and how I was treated and he told me that I could call on him any time. I was also in the right and he called the store. They sent me credit for the item, not money, that was in question. I have to admit that I haven't been back often b/c it really bothers me to be talked down to for using coupons, especially when I used them correctly…..I used to love this store but now I don't go out of my way. With Rite-Aid and CVS, I don't feel like I'm missing too much, but I did like Wags at one time, very much…..I'd rather spend my money on these stores and know that the customer service is going to be just as pleasant as the shopping experience itself.

      • Hi there

Did you make sure that the man q was first before any store coupon? That works at my wags

      • Mandi

As long as you didn't have coupons for the other two items you should have been fine. RR are manu q's and you can't use a RR and 3 other coupons for 3 items. I'm assuming the Mentos and Vicks would have been a filler item. The only other issue would have been if your total was less than the coupon at the end then it would beep for that too.

Don't give up! They have tons of deal!

    • showard

i used a man. q and a wags q on the BC powder and it worked yesterday. I went to the lady at the cosmetic desk….don't know if that made a difference.

      • runj

It seems they're usually nicer there:)

    • runj

Has anyone else tried the nestle candy deal? My walgreens only has the 11oz. bags on sale 2/$5, and the coupon is for 17+oz. (am i missing something) I'm always afraid to use my coupons at Walgreens and don't want to attempt unless I'm 100% confident that I'm right. It's always such an ordeal!

    • Gatubelaflecha

HI i went to walgreens and they have a downy ultra on clearance for 1.39 and i had 4 coupons for -1.50 for one of any downy and i got them 4 free!

    • ireneY

I came to this thread hoping to find a last-minute deal post before running out the door. Instead, there's reports of coupon usage problems. This tells me that Wags is definitely not worth the effort. Sorry about all the problems everyone's running into! :(

    • Dgaines

Found the 21 oz. walgreens brand laundry detergent and 12.6 oz.sunlight dish soap on clearance for .50
