CVS 30% off Dec. 4th & 5th

on 12.3.2010 at 10:46am

This post may contain affiliate links. Read our disclosure here.

Update:  CVS changed their mind and did not put a printable version online.  Many stores are offering their “Friends & Family” coupon to folks that ask today though because of the confusion.

Saturday and Sunday (Dec 4-5) get an additional 30% off your purchase at CVS with this printable coupon.

The coupon and fine print will be posted on Saturday morning, but at least this way you know about the discount early!

See all the deals at CVS.

    • Caritob40

Do you know if i can use this coupon with the other one they email ($5/$30) tnx

      • Alex Mccarrell

Did it take you awhile to start receiving emails with $/$$ once you registered your email? I still haven't received any:(

        • Luci

Should get first via email, perhaps within a week to a month after registering. I don't remember now. Anything after that seems completely random via email or at the red kiosk in the store.

          • Quilhil

when I tried to get coupon it said promotion not started yet. What's with that?

            • SEM

Read the original post, the coupon and the fine print will be posted tomorrow.

            • Paige

              From above, Jenny said:

“The coupon and fine print will be posted on Saturday morning, but at least this way you know about the discount early!”

        • Mlsshartz

I get a money off coupon every week via email on Thursday. They are always only good until that Sunday. I don't remember how long it took, but it did take some time before I starting getting them.

      • Jen

I'm almost positive that you wouldn't be able to do that. Sorry. :-(

    • Christine

I wonder if you will be able to use this with the buy 1 get 3 free zhu zhu pets deal?

      • Luci

If it's like my 20% off coupon, you cannot use it on sale or discounted merchandise. Cannot be combined with any other percent off coupon.

      • Kellyacer

No, I have a hard copy and it excludes sale items.

      • 3monkeysmom

I was wondering about that too. I know you usually can't use these coupons on sale items but since these are Buy One Get One, the one you are actually buying should be regular price, right? So would it still be considered a sale?

    • Luci

Thanks. Had already received at 20% off through Dec 5th via email. Guess the exclusions/fine print will be similar (no milk, bread, newspapers, sale items and the usual other items like alcohol, money orders, etc.). Will rework my plans for the 30%, but stop by CVS just in case I can print off nice offers from the red kiosk.

    • WynetteC

Wow! I see CVS is just rolling out the incentives to shop there!

    • Mom2teenagers

Does anyone know the exclusions on this? I had a 25% coupon to print at the register this week but when I went to use it on the P&G deal this week, they said I couldn't use it because everything was on sale and it couldn't be used on sale items.

      • Becky

I had the same problem on my 20% off coupon. I purchased $90.00 worth of products so I thought I would get 20% off all that, but everything was on sale, except one small item. I got a whopping .70 off!

    • Sounds great. Can't wait to try it out!!

    • Bholmes75

Can y ou use that ontop of the $5 wy spend $30

      • Jen

        I doubt it. Sorry. :-(

    • Amberfluhr

Does anyone know if you can use this coupon towards the purchase of the gift cards???

      • Kellyacer

It excludes the purchase of gift cards :(

    • Caroline

I thought the email coupons were only because it's holiday season. I've only been getting them a few weeks. I'm hoping to figure out a few scenarios using this coupon and the $4/$20 that I got in my email. I still have the raincheck for the Oral-B toothbrush from a few weeks ago!

      • kidsallgone

I could not use my 25% off coupon the other day when I bought the same toothebrushes (I also had a raincheck). You could probably use the $/$$ though, as well as the $10 off Oral B q. HTH :)

    • Smepperson

The Pampers are on sale this week. Will I be able to get 30% off of them? I'm not concerned about the PG deal, but it would be nice. Really just wondering if I could go in and buy a bunch of Pampers for cheap! They are on sale, so they are not regular price.

      • Kellyacer

        It excludes sale prices. :(

    • Kcgardner

can you use this with the $4 dollar off $20 coupon that came email? I have 2 of those right now, one from the christmas booklet and one from email. plus this 30%??? plus my extra bucks? thanks for any clarification

      • Guest

no as your only allowed to use one money off coupon per transaction. last time they had this could not be used on item that gave ecb.

      • Tuckyblue2

where can you get christmas booklet? could use that $4.00 off.

        • Drenfroe

They gave one to me in the store.

      • Toni

The Christmas book I got had a $4 EB offer when you buy $20, but it expired 11/28/10. So check the expiration date in the small print on the back of the card.

    • tarheelbaby1

Typically their “% off” coupons don't work on same items, only full price items. Not sure about this one, but that's my guess.

    • Kcgardner

      Quilhil: start tomorrow I believe.

    • Cbsprice

The coupon states…. couopn excludes SALE MERCHANDISE, discontinued merchandise, milk, bread, alchohol, gift cards, lottery, money orders, prescriptions, postage stamps, prepaid cards, tobacco products, newspapers, magazines, iPad, lookbook, and netbook.

    • Cbsprice

also states… can not be combined with any other cvs/pharmacy coupons.

    • Bholmes75

Does anyone know if you can use Harris teeter catalina coupons. For example I have 4 scott naturals toilet paper coupons

      • Jen

As long as the coupons say “manufacturer” you should be able to use them. I've been able to use my HT Catalinas at other stores and visa versa. Good luck. :-)

    • Simplysettled199

      this isnt printing til tomo.

    • Jen

The thing that annoys me about CVS is that they rarely have what I want/need in stock. I run into the same issue at Walgreens and Rite Aid, too. Sometimes rain checks solve the problem but sometimes it does not…..

But that doesn't mean I don't appreciate all of Jenny's posts about RA, CVS and Walgreens. :-)

      • Ammshorty29

The cashiers at my local stores tell me that they sold out earlier that morning (the day the ad starts). That tells me that either others are buying them out of inventory, or they are not stocking enough. I am very fortunate though because I can go 10 miles in any direction and find another RA, CVS or Walgreens.

        • Luci

As I understand it, if the store isn't open 24 hours, the sale actually begins on Saturday at 6 p.m. So it's that much harder to get some popular sale items. Fortunately for us, we now live in an area with multiple stores. Our previous town just had one; next closest store was about 90 miles in any direction.

          • Susanizanurse

My store isn't a 24 hr CVS & the upcoming week's sales always start on Sat afternoon; however, I specifically asked about this upcoming week's sale when I was there last night as I was planning on coming back for the Zhu Zhu pet deal & the 30% off coupon & was told that this weekend the sales would not start until Sunday morning due to the “special coupons & deals we are running.” I'll likely go Mon AM now since I can get a RC on the stuff I want & the 30% coupon, if it is indeed an instore coupon, won't apply to the sale stuff I'm after anyway.

        • Cfkclions

At our CVS, the ad states that it starts on a Sunday, but really starts the Wednesday before…eg the sale that will start this coming Sunday, has already been going since this past Wednesday….Hope that makes sense!

    • Lanierlori

If you click on the link for coupon, it says only good online, read by the asterisk mark that is beside the 30percent at bottom of page

    • chell

It says instore and online but there's as * and below states offer is online only. How can it be available instore and online?? I can't find a printable coupon.

      • Luci

Was wondering the same thing. Did notice the fine print below about online only, whereas the big banner at the top says instore and online.

I'd consider printing out the website page and bringing it into the store to ask if it's tied to the Extra Care Card (haven't checked a kiosk for a printable Q). A cashier may not know at the store either, but until we see more info, this is kind of a mystery.

    • Jcouey

I could not find a printable store coupon for in store – only online

    • Crafty_cat_86

I'm quite confused myself! I've asked CVS on FB and the web admin is usually pretty good about getting back to questions, but I'm not sure if the page is followed over the weekend. We shall see!

      • ??

CVS employees were given 6 cards and 3 email codes to give out as this weekend is for Friends and Family. So I think in order to get this coupon you need to find an employee that will give you a card or code.

        • Luci

I just called my local CVS and they said pretty much the same thing. Employees were given about 7 coupons to give to their families. Now if we get something online, that's what we'd need to use.

    • Fallaya

I just checked the “holiday pass” tab on cvs.com, and it says that the deal has expired. It also says that only certain people will receive the in-store pass/coupon in their in-boxes. THIS SUCKS, CVS. You’re quickly becoming my least favorite drug store.

    • 2Cor12:9

Thier facebook page says a “limited number will be distributed via email for in-store use”

      • Amy J.

where's the “dislike” button?! LOL! reason i say that is b/c i rarely get any $/$$ Q's, so kinda doubt i get the 30% off deal either…..all i can do is hope :-)

        Thanks for sharing the info.

    • alysia

This coupon is not available to prng for in store :(

    • Julie176

Still not seeing the printable coupon. It has the code for online, but no printable.

    • Raynesmw

I can't get it to print either. It has a star beside the first line and at the bottom that indicated online only. But, yet the header says in store and online. I did not get anything in my inbox….we'll see, not sure about this.

    • flower_mom

Usually these % off coupons you cannot use toward anything on 'sale'…I haven't checked this one out, but I'm guessing it is the same way.

    • kristen

So if the coupon won't let you print it and it states you can redeem in the store, can you show them their website from your phone and they have to honor it? Also, since it does not state exclusions, maybe it can be applied towards sales. CVS may have messed this one up but that could be good for us!

    • Merg49

I just printed the web ad that says there's a coupon. I'm going to bring this to the store today. Hopefully they will honor this.

    • Amy J.

I just got off the phone w/ CVS (dot) com……..the rep told me that they were being told to tell people that if u go in w/ ur exra care card, you should receive the 30% off. They said they are not sure if this will change as the day goes on, so to keep checking your email. She said the promotion was launched and was supposed to be for Friends and Family, but did not post a link for a printable coupon. She also said they are still waiting to hear back (from corporate, i assume) regarding this.

So that's all they know at this point. Helps a little but not completely…….just thought I'd post so everyone would know.

      • Amy J.

oh, sorry, this is regarding in-store.

      • Kelvin701

I called my local 24 hour store about 30 mins ago. I mentioned to them that I saw an ad online saying 30% off your purchase on-line and in-store. However I don't see any place to print coupon, does this mean it's automatically deduct 30% off at the store on regular items? She said, you have to have a coupon with you. I sure hate to drive out to CVS and find out that I don't get 30% off.

      • I called .com customer support and they told me that it was supposed to be just for friends and family, that I should ask an employee for a card if they have one left or else talk to a store manager. This could be interesting. I don't understand why they have a banner ad for it on their site if it's supposed to be a “private” sale.

        • Amy J.

I agree….I don't understand why they did that either…..looks like someone at CVS really “messed up”, to put it nicely :-)

    • Phillis

I just talked to my local store in Murfreesboro TN and they said that only friends and families got the coupons to hand out. If anyone else finds out anything different please let everyone know.

    • Julie

I think I will print the “in store” page for the 30% off ad and take it with me. :)

      • Merg49

Don't bother. I tried that & the mgr couldn't do it.

      • Oakes4life

That helped me and the Manager gave in !!!!

    • srj

stopped by store in Atlanta this morning. The on-duty manager had already received calls and said she was checking into it. While i was shopping around, I heard her on phone with someone (presumably the top store manager) saying he was supposed to have received an envelope of coupons this week. A few minutes later, she tracked me down & handed me a coupon. It does exclude sale items plus things like bread, milk, alcohol, gift cards, magazines, etc.

    • Clandevine

The ad no longer says “in-store or online”. I guess they realized their mistake and corrected it. Oh well. I was hoping to get an even better deal this weekend.

      • Amy J.

I just looked at it and noticed the same thing…..that bites. I should have printed it before they changed it. oh, well. I've got @$28 ECB's anyway, which is the most i've ever had at one time. Should be a good shopping trip tomorrow to get the Nivea deal, the Zhu Zhu Pets deal w/ that B2G1 Q, and some little stocking stuffers for my family.

    • Roxe

Thanks Jenny for all you do!

Just a tip but if anyone has an Andriod or Iphone there is a free App that I found called CHECKPOINTS and you get points redeemable for giftcards from scanning certain grocery items….. I got the app 2 days ago and already have racked up 3000 points, which equates to $10 gift card- which I will be cashing in for CVS of course, LOL…… Anyhoo if you download the app you get 200 initial points AND if you use my code…….pretty9…. you will get an extra 150 points for you and me! Happy couponing!

      • simpliepie

Roxe I just did this on my husbands droid and added your code. Mine is simpliepie. Thanks

        • Roxe

Thanks! Thats great I did see your referral come through. I hope you enjoy the app as I do :) My little daugher just LOVES to do the scanning and its saves me the “weirdo” looks at the grocery store. LOL

        • Hello
I just installed it to. I added simpliepie code. Mine is kiak724. Maybe we should start a thread somewhere some that we all can use each others codes

      • Lfenyin

i just downloaded the app and here is my code lou27

      • Taylor

Thanks for sharing this! I signed up under you (my code is lockets09), so I hope you enjoy the extra points! =)

      • meekoheather

    • Oakes4life

    • ga_momma

Anyone else having an online problem with cvs.com? Every time I try to check out it says “An error has occurred. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.”

    • Jen

I am so over CVS. Uggg. But thank you for your hard work, Jenny.

      • Elizabeth

I'm at least taking a break. I wish there was a Walgreens closer to my house.

        • Thek8d7

Its funny how it so subjective…i HATE Walgreens reward program and love CVS..no expiration on the ECB's is awesome

          • carrie

Same here, I much prefer CVS over WAGS – I can never seem to find stuff to use my RR before they expire and I can't stand how I have to carefully figure out every trip instead of just going in and using the RRs like money like I can with the CVS ECBS.

    • Heather A

My CVS said I had to buy two zhu zhu pets to get 3 free. Is this correct?

      • Luci

My circular says. “Buy 2 get one free with card”.

      • $avin'some$

nope- i just went and bought 4 and paid for only one. just have them ring them up…the register will prompt them to enter $9.88 for the coupon and the register will take care of the rest.

    • nancy

I knew this was too good to be true – did not apply to anything on sale. Last week, Walgreens had a coupon 15% off total order and it applied to EVERYTHING – I think I will stick with Walgreens unless there is something really, really special at CVS

    • Happy feet

I tried to print this coupon and it would not print. Help What are I doing wrong?

I just got back from CVS and was able to purchase 4 Zhu Zhu Pets for 10.57!!!!

      • Fallaya

        Same here!!

      • Dbbota

        Got mine today too!!!!

    • Mlsmith

I just got back from CVS and wow what a trip. I asked the cashier for the 30% off coupon and she gladly gave it to me. Before she scanned my CVS card, coupons and the 30% off coupon my total was $204.80. I paid 78.24 and got $16 in extra bucks. So my southern saver total was $62.24.

The 30% only counts towards items that are not on sale.

      This trip was worth it!

    • Mom of 4

I went tonight… the cashier surprised me with the 30% off… wow, never thought I would be the lucky one =) Had a great trip…. spent $22 and saved $60

    • Crafty_cat_86

I just got back and I didn't want to ask my lovely staff for their personal coupons, but even without the 30% off, I still had some great deals. I used the 20% off q that I printed earlier in the week (it doesn't expire until tomorrow) and a $3/$15 q to get a beard trimmer for my dad at $13 instead of $20. I also did the Zhu Zhu pets deal (ymmv–the manager had to push the q through for me…), the P&G deal, the Tylenol precise, and the coke deal and paid about $5 oop, which I”m pretty sure was all tax (I had a gc for $25 from a new rx).

    • lena

Tried to get 30% off asked them for the coupon, they told me you had to print it, and wouldnt give me 30% off. Oh well, i still got the Zhu Zhu pets on a great sale.

    • dara

    • Pachick

stores were sent 30% Q to give to customers, I was given one Friday, Of course they are select in handing them out. ASK for the Q

    • Nita Royal

My cashier gave me one today, but it didn't work, since every item I got was on sale. And it doesn't work with CVS coupons, etc. So no one should feel bad if they miss out on this….not such a hot deal for most of us couponers.

      • Dianne

I agree with you on the not feeling left out if you didn't get this coupon. I thought I was doing good, going around and getting stuff that had ECBs with them, but that were not at sale price. I did not get the 30% sale on these items because they DID have ECBs attached, so I am not sure how some people got the 20% off the Gax-X items earlier in the week AND the ECBs. I had the manager void the whole big transaction. It was disappointing!

    • Jparker142

I printed out the 30% off Q, but it has letters in the code and the cashier could only enter #'s, so it didn't work for me.

    • Coupon shopper

The CVS in Boiling Springs is not honoring the 30% off today.

    • meme

I was told on Saturday that the 30% off only applied to non-sale items so it wouldn't apply to my purchases. I goofed up so badly with my transactions after that. I missed out on about $25 savings trying to reconfigure my transactions. I was so upset with myself. That was all I had to spend on my total purchases at Wags and Rite Aid also, so I just had to come home. Lessons learned. I figured out how I could have done my transactions with little OOP after I came home.

    • Brooke

I goofed too. However, I still saved 52 dollars plus 20 dollars in extra bucks back and I only spent 45 dollars. I was hoping for that 30% off my purchases and that would have given me 22 more dollars in savings.

    • couponmama

Had a great run at CVS… First transaction bought 8 of the pantenes on sale (4 different types & there were lots left!), plus one Gain dish liquid. Used $5/30 coupon, $4.74 man. Qs, & $17 ECB from black Friday sales. Total came to about $5. For some reason I got back $14 ECB instead of just $10, which made my total cost like $5 for all 9 items!! (I plan on using these for the P&G beauty rebate…didn't need any, but for almost free I couldn't pass it up.) Then I got 2 packs of Scott towels w/$1 off Qs on each, & the contact solution, used my $14 ECB, cost about $4. Got back 9.99 ECB, bought 4 ZhuZhus & .99 pack of candy for $1.40! Happy, happy…

    • ShelleySchu

Yeah! Jenny is saving our Christmas!! 4 Zhu Zhu pets for just $10! No time to plan another coupons but great deal for my daughter.
