CVS Weekly Ad 8/02

on 7.31.2009 at 10:54am

This post may contain affiliate links. Read our disclosure here.

Thanks for waiting for this one.  The words were all running together early this morning and I knew my math would not be right on anything if I kept going.

This is a great week at CVS.  Lots of free school supplies, a money maker, free dish detergent… the list is long.    The scenario is up!  Get $84 for $7.02 and have ECB remaining.  This includes two packs of diapers!! Scroll Down for details.

I almost forgot to mention the best part of the week!!  Every person will get a coupon printed on their receipt for a FREE surprise item! (One per card)

To see the full ad scan go here.

Note: This ad is mostly ECB deals, but they are not all great.  I’ve tried to catch any that weren’t so great and put them in their own grouping this week.  Grab them if you need them, but most will be cheaper at other stores later.

Thank you Jenny for all your hard work…

    • Tarrah R.

I have four $1.00/2 12 pks pepsi product- which will make it an even better deal! 4 12 pks for $6.00! (I asked the vendor for these peelies, because I won’t peel any off unless I was buying the item right then).

    • Val

I am trying to understand the colgate ecb.
$2 ECB wyb (2) Colgate Total, Total Advanced, or Sensitive at $3.50 Limit 3
-$1 off Colgate Total, Sensitive, Max Fresh, Max White Or Kids Toothpaste SS 7/12, 7/26
-.75/1 Colgate Total, Sensitive, Max Fresh, Max White Or Kids Toothpaste SS 7/12, 7/26
      -$1 off Colgate Total printable
      -$1 off Colgate Sensitive printable
(makes it .50¢ after $1 coupon)

I thought that if each are $3.50 and you have to buy two to get the ECB that would be $7.00 – $2.00 ECB = $5.00 – (2) $1.00 MC = $3.00 for 2. So $1.50 each. I am new to this. Can someone clarify how they would be .50 cents each?

    • New at This

Oh my goodness! What a list, no wonder you were up all night doing this!

    • Jenn

I am still confused about BOGOs, can you use $1 coupon(s) and BOGO(s) together?

    • Jenn

Val#3, I come up with the same numbers as you do. As Jenny said, her math may be off. She probably just missed this one.

Thank you Jenny!! You are awesome!!!!!!!!!

    • Meg

      Thanks Jenny, we appreciate you!

    • Val

Jenn #6 … I wasn’t sure if maybe the colgates were on sale for $3.50 for 2. That would be a great price after coupon or if the ECB was $2 per tube. Not sure.

    • lynn

if you add the 2.00 ecb you get back with the 1.99 coupon that is the 2.00 then you would have spent 50 cents out of pockets…. hope that explains it

    • lynn

i ment 1,00 coupon not 199 sorry for typo

    • Val

But it isn’t 2 ECB’s for each tube? Or is it? I thought it was for 2 tubes.

    • Pamela

Does anybody know if there is a coupon to get a gift card for a new prescription filled at cvs? I saw some from rite aid that said “transferred” prescription.

    • Pamela-

I got a $25 gift card with new or transferred prescription CRT. So you may want to check your CRTs or start scanning your card. Hope you get one!

    • Cathy

I got this $5 off an Boost multi-pack in my email-here’s the bricks link- http://bricks.coupons.com/Start.asp?tqnm=qg5idec20304784&bt=wi&o=55320&pt=&lang=&ws=&ct=&ci=&cl=&cp=&eb=1&c=NB&p=87309&z=&r=&pc=&tc= .
It would make it $.99 after ECB’s.

    • Pamela

Thanks Christie…I will check my CRTs. Great idea.

    • Melissa

      Jenn #5

Yes!! Let’s say you buy a pen for $1.50 and you have a $1 off coupon. Now you are buying the pen for $.50. You are still “buying” the pen so you can use the B1G1 to get 2 for .50 cents!

      Hope this helps.

    • Also, the new coupons book is available when you request information on their new Readyfill service. Combine the $4/$20 coupon to get great $$$ making deals. I was able to pick mine up yesterday. The pharmacy tech had no clue what I was talking about but the pharmacist did. So had no problem getting my coupons. :-)

    • Stacy

      Where is the $4/$20 coupon?

    • david

just a after thought when i was at my cvs last sunday the cashier/ phamisist told me that they except mf coupons as well as ECB up to 10 days after experation date i live in fort worth texas so Y.M.M.V

    • Question for anyone who can answer…
The Pepsi is buy 3 get a sierra mist free…
Can I use my coupon that states “Get a FREE 2 liter from pepsi when you purchase any two 2 liters”
Does this make it buy 2 get 2 free?
      And can I also use 2 $1.00 off (2) 2 liter coupons??
Someone please help I am confused and dont want to do anything wrong or illegal.

    • Stacy – Just ask your pharmacist about their new Readyfill program and request your coupon book. It starts Sunday but my pharmacies already have them. If you go early like me on Sundays the pharmacy will be closed when you go to shop.

    • sara

beware of unknown websites if you’re looking for printable pepsi coupons. a good number came back with virus’ trying to infect the computer.

      a few examples:

If anyone does find a legitimate pepsi printable, please share! :-)

    • NANCY

      WOW JENNY!!!!

    • Amanda

Can anyone tell me if I can still use the $1.00 off coupons, with the buy one get one coupons??? Please can someone help me!!

    • Melissa

      Amanda..see post #15.

    • Bobbie

Amanda, I used two coupons on a bogo yesterday. So I guess it depends on each individual store. All the stores are changing rules weekly I think.

    • I have $2/1 Boost peelies to combine with the $6/3 CVS q, and the $1ecb back…makes this a really good price- they don’t get cheaper than $6.99 really often anyway.

    • Kay

WHERE can I get that boost CVS Q? I MUST have it! When did it come out?

    • Jenn

First off, big hell to Sharon, who I met at the Kroger on the Eastside of Athens last night. We descended upon the shampoo aisle at the same time for free beauty aids. I love to meet other Southern Savers.

Secondly, before you spend your $.50/1 Oral B Q at CVS, check your Kroger. Their Oral B toothbrushes are on sale 10/10 (and have been for two weeks) which makes them free!

Looks like a great week at CVS! Can’t wait for Sunday.

    • russell

its going to be a good week at CVS. I just got the email for $5 off of $30, and Ive got 12 $1 off pepsi 12 pack coupons. As well as some rain checks for the free school supplies over the last few weeks. I think If I do this right, with the $5 off of 30, and pepsi coupons i can get the 4 pepsi 12-packs for .25 cents each in the end, plus a bag full of free school supplies. WOW. We’ll see how it works out.

    • sloan

Hi- sorry, this is not the right place to put this, but it’s the most recent so I’m guessing a lot of folks are reading the comments. I just left Bloom in Greenville, SC and they are tripling coupons again this week. Until Aug 4. I was just running in to get a cantaloupe. I didnt even have my coupon book! But, luckily our store has one of coupon kiosks at the front and I ended up getting a bag full of stuff and my cantaloupe for $.84!

    • Amanda

      Thanks Melissa!!

    • Lindsay

If Post #15 is correct, then the Stayfree deal is a money maker – you would make $1.00 if you used both the B1G1 and $1.00 off q..you would be paying $4.00 and get 5 ECBs back. Correct??

    • Amanda

That’s what I am afraid of!! I hope that my store will let me use them on the Stayfree Items!!!

    • lynn

where did you get the pepsi coupons?

    • Amanda

I asked my pharmacist about the New Ready Fill Program. They told me that I have to get a prescription filled before I can get the coupon book!! So in other words when I pick-up my prescription I will get the coupon book!!!!

    • Gwenn

I received a $5 off $30 Q in my e-mail and I used it today, am I amble to print another one to use on Sunday when it expires?

    • Technically, you are only supposed to use the coupon once. I think it beeps if you try to use it twice…even if you reprint.

I got a $4/$20 today! Look out for emails!

Don’t forget the free item that we all get starting tomorrow! It will be a CRT at the bottom of your receipt.

    • Amanda – I’m so sorry that happened to you! I would go to a different store. If you look at the coupon book it says on the front “Thanks for asking about Readyfill”. Not thanks for signing up for Readyfill. And in next Sundays ad (8/9) the ad will read “*Get $25 in coupons just for asking about Readyfill while supplies last”. You can wait till next Sunday and then you’ll have the ad to show him/her but I would probably try a different store. Good Luck! :-)

    • Thanks for posting all the scenarios and matchups Jenny!!!

    • Amy in LA

      Woo-hoo! I got a $5 off $30 in my email!

    • I have been waiting for Saturday all week. I got $5/25 from the machine and $4/20 in my email. This is so far the best week for me!

    • Stephanie T

I asked the pharmacist for the “ReadyFill” coupon book last Sunday and they gave it to me (I guess I have no shame – I did not even ask about the program at all). It has 2 of the $4/$20 coupons for those that are asking. I have ECB’s to roll from last week and I was just checking to make sure that you can use ECB’s and the $4/$20 coupon on the same transaction. I have never tried it before and it will make my Electrasol/Lysol deal very good. If anyone has done that before, I would appreciate any info.
Thanks to Jenny for the matchups – what a week!

    • Stacy

PLEASE help me understand where exactly the $4/20 coupons, etc. from CVS actually come? Is it in your own personal email or is it in the mail section of your account on cvs.com? I want to make sure I get them too!

    • Stacy, they will be in your personal email. HTH

    • joquena

i’d never even been to a cvs before i started reading your site and now I’m addicted! is it 5ecb for each pack of pampers, or 5 for the pair? Thanks!

    • Gina S.

Hi from So California. I got my CVS ad in the newspaper today and we aren’t having the Electrosal $20/$10 deal. I’m soooooo bummed out becuase I ordered a bunch of coupons from Ebay (for WAY TOO MUCH). Went to Walmart last night and their prices are outrageous! Almost $6 a box for the Electrosal. Jeesh, I’m so sad!

    • Wendy

It would be 5 ecb for the pair (2 packs of diapers.) have fun!

    • The Ragu prinable is in Spanish. Does that matter?

    • Bobbie

I haven’t read all the comments so this may have already been addressed. Looking at the ad for next week it shows that the Caliber 20 ct pens and caliber 10 pk pencils are listed together for a limit of 2. One of each or two of the same I would think.

    • Dai

It does not matter if they are in spanish. Most of my stuff is in spanish….

    • CATHY E.

You can use the $4 off $20 from the new coupons book from the pharmacy… If you add $5 onto the deal of the diapers you can use a $5 off $25 (printing on recipt) and the $4 off $20:)

    • David

Does anyone know the zip code for the coupons.com Tylenol Cold coupon? Thanks

    • Are the Sunday – Tuesday deals valid late Saturday? I am so excited.

    • I am knew to this. Where can I get the stayfree B1G1 coupon and the electrasol coupon?

    • Jessica

Just wondering if you could give me some ideas of items you use for your 5 cents filler?

    • Mandie

If you don’t have the $2.50 off Q’s (I don’t) you can go to these two websites and print off 2 each of the electrosol Q’s one is for $0.50 off any electrosol item and the other is for $1.00 ($1.00 off Quantum, not sure if the Quantum is part of the deal though) and if you have a $5.00/$25.00 or $4.00/$20.00 you won’t get them free but you can get a decent deal.

    • JennyM

      Gina S,

Would you be willing to trade your Electrosal coupons for something else you would like? If so please e-mail me at jenny.mattingly@gmail.com

    • Jessica

Can you shop on Saturday night and still get the ECB’s? I tried this last week and it did not work.

    • Emily

Some store turn the regular deals on some time Saturday. However, this does not count for the 3-day Sunday-Tuesday sales so you have to wait until Sunday for those. Hope this helps!

    • Going to Florida!

Does anyone know whether these deals will work this week in Florida? Also, does anyone know whether the CVS in Florida allow multiple transactions so that you can roll ECB? Thanks!

    • sara

I was at CVS yesterday and tried to use my $10ECB on a $9.89 purchase only to have the cashier tell me my purchase HAD to be OVER $10 for him to use my ECBs. Anyone else have this problem? This was the Asst Mgr.

    • I have a $4 off of $20 coupon I would like to use and $4.99 in ECB- could anyone help me with a scenerio?? new at this?

    • Kelly

With the 3 day sales you cant do it til Sunday. I personally go sat night at 11:30 but you cant check out til after 12. Otherwise you dont get your ECBs. HTH

    • Erika

Wow!! What a great week for CVS deals….wishing I had started coupon clipping earlier, I will miss out on some Money Makers!!

Also, the ad scan shows that the Compass and Protractors are $1.50, that may alter your final amounts.

Thank you Jenny for doing all this!!! :)

      Funny story:

Went into my CVS in Riverview FL (on 301) and asked about ready fill.
All three behind the pharmacy look at me suspiciously. One girl says that it doesn’t start until tomorrow. (Like I have ESP or something!) I say that I know but since I am there could I just get a coupon book today? The one guy says sure, just give her one. She asks for my name and birhtday!!??!! Confused, I say that I usually don’t fill my prescriptions there, but down the street a few mile by my house. She says get one there then! (Are these things plated in gold? Hmmm) I say why should I drive down there when you have a whole stack of them. They’re just coupon books, right? I mean, are you kidding me?? This is like a joke. The guy again says to just give me one. She will NOT give me one without my name and birthdate, which I tell her. This is absolutely ridiculous but I did finally come away with one book as they watch me walk away suspiciously. I hear the third girl asking what the books are and when should she give them out!

Ugghh!!!! I feel like a thief and a con artist for asking for this book! UNBELIEVABLE!!!

    • Kelly

Here is my scenario for CVS. Hope it helps someone. It will require that you have the new “Thanks for asking about Readyfill” booklet. I am also starting out with 5 ECB. The only item I couldn’t seem to include was one of the two free Academic scissors.

      1 Blink
      1 Visine
      2 Tylenol
      -$3 off $12 eyecare coupon
      -3/1 Blink
      -2/1 Visine
      -(2)2/1 Tylenol
      -5 ECB
      Due $3.49, get back 7.99+5ECB=12.99

      (1)poly folio

I love CVS!!!! Thanks Jenny for all you do!

    • Dianna

I have seen comments about asking the cashier to scan you card to get coupons to print (for CVS coupons). I was in another town & didnt have the kids tonight & went in to pick up some of my raincheck items. When i went into the store they had a little machine that you can scan items to check/verify price & it also said you can scan your Extra care card. I did it & it printed off 2 CVS coupons. My question is If I ask the cashier to scan my card as I enter the store will coupons print at the register or does this only work when you do it on the machine? I sure wish my CVS has that lovely little machine!!!

Thanks to Jenny & everyone involved in the prep of our WONDERFUL deal lists!!!

    • Jenni

I have a question about ECB’s. I have been CVSing for a few months now and was wondering if ECB’s were considered a coupon? Say I buy two pampers and have two $1 q’s and I use one $3ECB and $2ECB do I have to buy two filler items so I don’t have more q’s than items or do ECB’s not count as q’s?

    • Steve

How did you get the “5” $2.50 off couponsfor the deal below? I only saw 1 listed on SS 7/12.

      **Deal Idea**
Buy: (5) Electrasol Detergents $4.50 ea
      Use: (5) -$2.50 off coupons
      Total Due: $10
Get Back: $10 ECB, makes them all FREE

    • Tracie

      Pamlea #12-

CVS will takes competitor coupons for prescription transfers only. I took the $25 Rite Aid prescription coupon to CVS and got a $25 gift card. The coupon is in the Rite Aid sales flyer in Sunday’s paper (not the in-store flyer).

    • Mina

Steve, you are correct. There was only one Electrasol q in that paper. People get multiple coupons by purchasing multiple papers, or gathering extra inserts from family, friends, dumpsters, etc. They also acquire them by trading with others, and through Ebay and clipping services by paying those places for clipping and handling them.

    • Mendy

Someone asked this already, but it hasn’t been answered: Where can I find a list of small (under $1, preferably closer to $.05) filler items? I have a scenario this week but need a $.02 filler item. I checked our store’s clearance section last week and came up with 2 $.20 items but wasn’t able to find anything cheaper and I want to keep my OOP low (and there’s no guarantee I can find something in the clearance that cheap again).

    • Amy in LA

I am so excited! I currently have $28.79 extra bucks to spend… I like to do one big transaction instead of the smaller ones. So anyway… my total will be $26.85 (pay with ECBs) and I’ll get back $36.85!!! That’s $10 more than what I started out with!!!!! Woot!!

    • Brandi

Does anyone know if you can use the $3/$12 eye care with the $4/$20 total purchase?

    • ET

Mendy, I have never found anything less than $.20 at my local CVS and $.33 at another. Last week I found some breath drops clearanced to $.20 by the register. Previously I have used the small bags of cheetos or other chips near the door of ours that are 3/$1.00. The caramel candies that are near our regsiter are 3/$.99.

    • sharan

I have a $5 off 30 coupon & am not sure how to use it since my total due is never that high. Is this an out of pocket total of $30 or pre-coupon total?

    • Leigh Anne Drake

Tennessee tax-free weekend is Aug 7-9 and diapers are a tax-free item according to the alphabetical list on http://tn.gov/revenue/salestaxholiday/. This makes the Pampers deal even better!

    • melissa

A question about doing multiple transactions for Jenny and others: Do yo do all the transactions in one visit, or break it up into multiple visits? how many transactions do you typically do at one time? I would prefer to do one or two big transactions, but I don’t have any ECBs to roll over and need to keep my OOP small. Thanks for any advice regarding doing multiple transactions in one trip. I have a 1 year old and it’s a struggle to pull him out of the carseat repeatedly (for multiple trips) and keep him happy for long visits in the store.

    • Wendy

Jenny thanks again for all of your hard work and another great list!

    • Deb

I’m signed up at CVS’s website, but have yet to receive an email for $off. Have I missed soemthing?

    • Mrs. G

Bobbie – you are correct. The pens and pencils are one deal, limit 2. So Jenny will need to adjust her game plan. One of each, or two of one to get the ECBs.

Also, I wanted to point out the note at the bottom of page 5 of the ad. Looks like you can get a pen, highlighter, or marker for just a penny! I wonder where they will be in the store though.

    • Amanda

Melissa, it is also difficult for me to do mulitiple small transactions since I have small children as well. I just do one or two large transactions instead of several small transactions. I usually start out with between $20-25 ECB to spend and do one large transaction. I will in return earn back between $20-25 ECB. This enables me to limit my in-store time with my small children!

    • Hillary

I’m in SC. Has anyone found the B1G1 Stayfree or the O.B. coupons in our inserts anywhere? Sometimes we don’t have the same coupons.

Thanks, Jenny! I can’t tell you how much money I have saved using your website.

    • Rachel

I have a $4 off $20 and a $5 off $30. Can I use both of these in the same transaction?

    • Kristen

I just came across your blog, and WOW! I love your set up and the deal ideas! I have bookmarked you, and will use your frequently when planning my CVS trips. Thank you for all the work you put in! I did notice that you have the Caliber Compass/Protractor priced at $1.99, however, when looking at the scan, I noticed the price is actually $1.50. Thanks again for creating such a wonderful blog!

    • Amy in LA

      Mrs G – #82….

Last week they also had the writing instruments for 1 cent. They were located in a big barrel in the check out area. I got a yellow highlighter. They also had pink and green ones and pens!

    • Elizabeth

Just in case anyone else is planning their scenarios, the ad says the compass and protractor are actually 1.50, not 1.99!

    • Erin

There is usually a box/ pail of individually wrapped caramels right next to one of the registers at the front that cost $.05. That makes a great $.05 filler!

    • JenniferP

Has anyone gotten the free gift yet? Just curious what everyone is getting…

    • Jenni

Does anyone know if ECB’s count as a coupon and if so do you have to have the same number of items as coupons? Thanks for everything you do Jenny!!!

    • I got a free CVS hand lotion 8oz. value to $1.69 for my free gift. Thanks CVS and Thanks Jenny!!!

    • For my free gift, I got a free CVS roll of paper towels and my sister got a bottle of CVS mouthwash:)

    • CouponNERD

      melissa –
I fill my cart with the school supplies and do 4-5 $2 transactions one after the other, keeping my OOP cost low. Just roll those ECB’s!
I’m going tonight at midnight to the 24 hour CVS to get this week’s list.
I won’t have any children with me then, though.

    • I am SO grateful that the I have a “Saturday” store! Got to use my $4 Blink coupons for a $4 money maker and have enough electrasol tabs to take me to 2010! Now I just have to wake up early to get my school supply freebies before they’re all gone!

    • Steph in B’ham

anybody else having their CVS tell you that they no longer accept printed coupons? i went today to take advantage of the kashi deal that ends today, and had 3 of the printable coupons…the cashier told me that they no longer accept them, only printed coupons from the CVS website???? i told her that i used two last week at the same store, and she could not tell me WHY they do not accept them. i feel like i was cheated $4.50!! should i call corporate??

    • CJ

I popped in CVS quick this evening and received a free CVS brand ibuprofen 25 ct. I’m guessing this is my free gift.

Question: I have several $5 off $25 coupons. I’m new to this and wonder how I can get to use them when the transactions seem to be so low. Not sure how to combine w/o losing money.

    • Jen S, same thing here I actually got 2 blinks @ 7.99 ea – 8 in coupons, 2 stayfree @ 5 ea -5bogo. used the $5/$25 and $8 ecb. oop $.91 got back $12.99

    • Anna

Can you stack coupons at CVS? I have a CVS store coupon for $1 off any softsoap body wash and a manufacturer’s coupon for $2.00. I would like to use these two coupons together for the softsoap deal this week. I am assuming this is okay since most other stores do it, but I haven’t done it at CVS before. Does anyone know the rules on this?

    • Amy in LA

Anna, you can stack coupons at CVS. :)

    • Amy in LA

I just went for my mom and her free ticket was for a CVS brand mouthwash. I’m going in the morning for my stuff. I’m trying to see if I’ll get a $3 Blink coupon… if not I’ll just use the $1.50 manufacturer one. My plan changed a bit though… they don’t have any scissors left or folders.

    • Damien Barber

My Plan (if I have all of the coupons at home/ can find them):

      Start with $5 + $1 ECB

      Purchase 1
$7.99 ECB wyb Blink tears or gel tears at $7.99 FREE
-$3 off Blink Tears or GelTears RP 8/02
      -$5 ECB

      Total: $0
      ECB = $7.99 + $1 = $8.99

      Purchase 2
$4 ECB wyb (1) Softsoap Nutri Serums 15oz, at $4.99
-$2 off Softsoap or Irish Spring Body Wash 15 oz
$2.99 ECB wyb Caliber Academic Scissors at $2.99 FREE
.99¢ ECB wyb Caliber 20 ct Pens at .99¢ FREE
.99¢ ECB wyb Caliber 10 Pk Pencils at .99¢ FREE
      -$7.99 ECB

      Total: $0
      ECB: $4 + 2.99 + .99 + .99 +1 = $9.97

      Purchase 3
      $10 ECB wyb $20: Limit 1
      Electrasol 20ct $4.50 ea
-$2.50 off Finish/Electrasol Quantum, Powerball Tabs or Gelpacs SS 7/12

-.75/1 or .50/1 Lysol All Purpose Cleaner SS 6/07, 7/12
      Toilet Cleaner $3 ea

      Lysol spray $4 ea
-$1 off Lysol Disinfectant Spray SS 6/7, 7/12 or printable
      -$8.97 ECB

      Total: $0.50
      ECB: $10 + $1 = $11

      Purchase 4
$5 ECB wyb (2) Pampers Jumbo pack diapers or pants at $10 ea
      -$1 off Pampers PG 8/02
      -$1.50 Pampers
      -$11 ECB

      Total: $6.50
      ECB: $5

    • Melanie

I went to a non-24 hour CVS tonight because I had some CRTs and manuf. coupons that all expired today. I wanted to use all my coupons in conjunction with the new sale. I really scored (Blink, Softsoap body wash, and Colgate Sensitive) and my cashier was awesome and helpful. I pointed out to her that my Nutri-Serums Softsoap purchase did not print out ECBs and it should. It is on the back page of the ad. She manually printed out my ECBs for that. So those of you buying it (and the $2 manuf. printable works with it), remember to check for that.

    • Lisa

I had a difficult time getting the “gold plated” coupon book too. When I asked about it, the clerk asked me which script I wanted to enroll. I told her that I was under the impression that I did not have to actually enroll anything to get the book. Her response was that enrollment was the main purpose of giving out the books. Needless to say, now I am enrolled. I am really disappointed in the attitude surrounding these books. Great coupons, but is it worth having to argue with someone over the concept of how they are given? Also, the clerk had already rung me up (PIN number entered and all) but had an open sale when she wandered over to the computer to pull my records up. I couldn’t leave the register, so all my personal medicine info was shouted back and forth. What ever happened to HIPPA?? Poorly managed…

    • Steph in B’ham

my CVS told me today that they no longer accept printable manufacturer coupons (i had 3 $1.50 off for last week’s kashi deal)…she said they only accept coupons printed from the CVS website…anyone else been told this at your CVS???

    • Jenni

For everyone out there, ECB’s do not count as coupons. I had (1)$1ECB and (1)$3ECB along with two benadryl q’s and I used all four on two boxes of benadryl. So to answer my own question and for all of you out there that didn’t know you can have more ECB’s than items.

    • Angela

I got a free 4 pack of CVS brand of AA batteries as my free item. :-)

    • Jenni

The softsoap didn’t print out ECB’s because it is a three day deal and even at a non-24hour CVS those deals will not print out until Sunday.

    • Terri

My free item today was CVS 4 pk. of AA or AAA batteries.

    • Heather

My CVS trip today, I started out with $13 in ECB

Got all of the school supplies, total:2.56 oop, I also had a $1.50 cvs coupon.

      Second trans: 4 Electrosal- 1 Lyscol Spray- 2 revlon makeup-1 softsoap serums……used 4 2.50 coupon (electrosal) 1-1.00 coupon lyscol, 1-1.00 coupon makeup. -(1) 4.00/$20 purchase-and ECBS paid $1.40 oop..

Third Trans: 1 Blink Tears-1 free cvs lip balm- paid .00 oop :)

AND I have $16 left for tomorrow, to get FREE diapers!

Thank you Jenny for all of your help, I could not have done it without you!!!!

    • Heather

I did forget to mention that my ECB’s did not print out for the 3 day sale items. BUT I asked the cashier before I shopped if they would and she said yes. SO she had to manually print them all for me. SHe was GREAT!

    • Carol

Do you give them your coupons or ECB first when checking out?

      • Jenny

Always give your coupons first. Think of your ECB’s as cash not coupons. We would never want to give our cash before our coupons.

    • Carol

I am new at this. What I thought but wanted to make sure. Thanks for your help!!

    • Melissa C.

My free gifts were CVS Brand Chapblock and CVS Brand Aspirin.

I got (5) Electrasol, Blink, (3) Visine Eye Wipes, Softsoap Nutriastuff, (5) Hershey Kisses, (2) Stretchable book covers, and a tw0-pocket folder.

The cashier had to manually print the ECBs for the Softsoap and school supplies.

Kind of crazy they change the sale and the other stuff prints the ECBs, but not the 3 day sale stuff.

    • momof2

I looked over the weekly inserts for this week (8-2-09) & do not see where the $3 blink coupon will be listed in this week’s paper.
$7.99 ECB wyb Blink tears or gel tears at $7.99 FREE Limit 1
-$4 off Blink Tears or GelTears RP 5/31 (exp Sat. good only if you shop Sat evening)
-$1.50 off any Blink Tears printable
-$3 off Blink Tears or GelTears RP 8/02

    • Beth

I also bought the 3-day sale items tonight because the shelf tags were already posted (at a non-24 hr store). The sale price rings up, but the ECBs do not print. The cashier manually printed them for me. I’m lovin’ this week at CVS!!

    • Steve

So does CVS still take printable coupons are not?

    • Micheal

I am looking for some Electrasol coupons (I only have 2). Anyone not using them that would want to trade for something I might have?

    • Amy in LA

My CVS has never given me trouble about internet coupons. I used one today. :)

    • lynn

liptom tea coupons that are 1.00 in the raise your hand for savings can those be used on a 2 litter bottle or is that only for tea bag thanks for any info

    • Amanda

Love your site! Thanks for the hard work! It is very much appreciated!

I just got back into the swing of CVSing last week. I am starting this week with $10.81ECB. This is my plan…

      Transaction #1
      (3) Electrasol Tabs $4.50ea
      (2) Lysol Spray $4 ea
      (3) -$2.50 Electrasol
      (2) -$2 Lysol Spray
      Total Due: nothing
      Get Back: $10ECB

      Transaction #2
      (2) CVS 1 Subject Notebook .99ea
      (2) CVS 10pk Pencils .99ea
      (2) Poly Portfolios .49ea
      (2) 20ct Pens .99ea
      (2) Rulers .99ea
      (2) Sticky Notes .99ea
      no coupons
      Total Due: 1.02
      Get Back: $10.88 ECB

      Not too bad… ;)

    • Amber

on the cvs add there is a portion for a 1 cent select writing instrument with purchase of stationary items? Could this be used as a filer item

    • Stacey W

Our CVS here is not 24 hours and they will manually ring all the prices for us if need be and manually enter ECBs after 5pm or so. I’ve started going around 8-9 on Saturday nights and getting my deals then. That way you can beat the Sunday crowd!

    • Colleen

How long does it take after you sign up online for CVS to email the $4/20 coupon? I finally got my registration to work tonight after trying for a week. Now I need the coupon!

    • If I can work my scenarios right, I actually give my ECB’s first, then mf coupons because they will take off tax- ECB’s will not! Took me awhile of figuring stuff out before I got to that point, but it works!

This is a completely made up scenario, but may help to explain! If you spend $3.50 before tax, here in TN that would be plus $.32 tax, so $3.82 total before coupons. Then if you used a $3 ECB first and then a $.75 mf q, that would bring your total to $.07! Whereas if you give the mf q first, you either won’t be able to use the ECB, or they will have to adjust it down some.

May not make a whole lot of sense to everyone, but basically you can use the mf q to “pay” for tax but not a ECB!

    • Amy in LA

Stacey… yeah, I don’t get it. LOL Thanks for trying to explain though!

    • Mal

Greenville shoppers please help: Can someone please tell me which store has enough sale items stocked up if I want to shop in the evening.

    • Helen

I get so excited to go and get all my things from CVS, but become completely flustered when they don’t have anything and I have to readjust my deal plan. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions to make this easier. I feel like I am in CVS forever trying to figure out what to do. I do not want to go to multiple stores, I would prefer just one. Thanks ladies for all the info you put on this website, I am telling everyone about this site. Jenny you rock!!! :-)

    • Amber

Everything worked out good tonight expect for the Blink scenerio.

Our paper didn’t include the $3.00 mf Q for blink drops. I was going to add the visine @ 4.50, use $2.00 ,1.50,3 off $12 cvs Q and $4.98 ebc. The visine rang up for 3.99 so i was .02 cents short of being able to use the 3 off 12 cvs Q from the auto fill booklet.

    • Amber

Oh yeah. If you get the autofill booklet,if use the $4 off $20 for diapers before the mf q and ebc, and will you get 2 packs of diapers for $4 bucks and change.

thanks for doing all of the grunt work Jenny….you have saved me so much money!

    • Erin

No Blink Q here either. Boo. :-(

    • erica

I went to CVS in cary on highhouse rd in cary last night @ 7pm and had such a rude cashier that I left. She rang up my ECB’s wrong then told me she did not have time to correct it. I asked for the manager and she fixed it but then told me that even though the sunday tags were out the ECB’s would not print until Sunday and she could not print them manually which I know they can. So, then this morning I went to the CVS near my house at 7am and they had none of the school supplies because they were bought Saturday night. I don’t want to be a difficult customer and go around asking each CVS if they will manually print my ECB’s but it does not seem that you can wait until Sunday and get anything.
      Any suggestions?!

    • Monica

the pepsi deal is not working. it is not in the printed ad at the store and the associate said i would have to print something from cvs.com to get them to honor it:-(

    • dawn

so do you have to make many transactions to get the savings or can you purchase everythying at the same time to get the savings?

    • ET

My mom and I went to the CVS here in thier hometown and I got so frustrated, although the employees were very nice and helful. The problem was that they just don’t carry some of the items advertised in the circular, which really messed up my plan. I typically subsitute items and make it work anyway, but they didn’t have the Sunday paper (needed the Blink coupon), didn’t even carry the SoftSoap wash on special and didn’t carry some of the school supplies. They were out of some of the supplies, and we were the first ones in the store. So I ended up going to another CVS which did not even have the three day specials marked. They were also out of a lot of supplies, which was okay since I mostly wanted the Blink, Soft Soap, and Electrosol deals. (We have been able to stock up on soo many school supplies thanks to Jenny!) Anyway, it all worked out!

I did want to let you know about a possible filler. My freebie was the CVS lip balm. They were out of them at the register so I looked by the pharmacy. The coupon stated up to $0.99 value. The only “flavor” I could find for that price or less was Spearmint, marked at $0.99 on the shelf. It rang up at $0.25! So FYI if you need a filler for close to that amount as they may not be marked at your store either.

    • Kim

Dissapointing trip(s) to CVS this mornng. I was there before 8 am and then ended up going to 4 stores all within 5 minutes of my house and they were all out of the electrosol and no one even carried the poly folders! Managed to get most everything else though! Guess I will just return the 2 electrosols I already got and get a rain check for the whole deal!

    • Amber

Just went to my CVS. The Pepsi is not on sale and no ECB’s on them. They were also out of all the school supplies. I called another CVS & they offered to substitute & give me ECB’s for all the school supplies. I think I will start going there, since they were so accomidating. I got $99 worth of products & spent $21 OOP and still have $18 in ECB’s. I know it seems like a alot oop, but I am new & trying to get this right. I feel really good about it.

      Thanks Jennie!

    • Megan

Just wanted to share with all… I netted paying a few pennies for $60 in items this week! Most importantly, my free item deal ended up being the CVS aspirin.

When you look at your free item, check below the description, and it will tell you the dollar amount your free item is worth. If you get a smaller or less expensive item in that category, it will give you the overage on everything else you bought!! Example… I bought a CVS brand aspirin that only cost $1.99, but the coupon still scanned for the full $3.69 off my bill. (on my receipt, it said up to $3.69 value)

Just wanted to share, since had i known that, I might have chosen the 99 cent CVS aspirin! Good luck everyone!

    • David

Blink Tears coupon is not in the Birmingham News RP.

    • Sondy

If you want to use a 4 of 20 purchase then you have to buy at least 20.00 in one order. When I do this I bring all of the ECB’s that print back to use the next week. However, if you want to roll you ECB then you need to make small purchases and then use the ECB’s from those on your next purchase. Example; buy 2 note books at .99 and get 2x.99 ECB’s. Then in your next purchase immediately use those two EBC’s to pay for the next purchase. You can do this as many times as you need to but remember your purchases are tracked on your CVS card so if you buy more than the limit on an item the computer will no longer print your ECB’s.

    • seacoastmom

I think that the softsoap item is *NEW* so you might want to check back in a day or so. My main CVS (Dorchester Road) hadn’t even put them out as of this morning, they are so new to the store that they were still in a bin behind the counter. HTH someone.

I’ve noticed that the sinage has not been up for a number of the “free deal” items & school supplies in the last few weeks, wonder why? Anyhoo, I got a few of the good deal items, hopefully I can get that Auto-fill coupon book when I refill my next Rx!

    • raye

i only need two electrosol coupons for the cvs deal this week. if you’ve got some to spare email me at raekitty@hotmail.com

    • People in front of me in line were getting a form to fill out with their email address for a free $5. Of course, it did not print for me.
Oh and my free item is CVS Asprin.
What did everyone else get for free?

    • Haley

So our ad did not have the Pepsi deal.
It was 4/12 but no ECB back on it.

I double checked our ad and the tags in the store.

    • Katie

Michelle, I believe the $5 coupon you are refering to was for new card holders. I had 2 people with me who were both new to CVSing and had signed up for their cards recently, and both were given the $5 off 25 for the email address. I, however, did not because my CVS card is already associated with my email. So, I think it was for new members who had not already provided an email address (I could be wrong though, that’s just how it was explained to me)

My Free item was asprin, and one of the ladies with me got a tooth brush for hers (which was exciting because she was planning on buying one anyway).

    • FYI, the Knoxville CVS (24 hr) had several Electrasols, Blink Tears, Softsoap, and other items when I stopped by at 12:30pm. They were out of a lot of the school supplies (which I got at midnight last night) but still had Protractors, Book covers, 1 sub notebooks, and folders. Note that SEVEREAL of these (primarily the It’s Academic) weren’t marked. I had to get the ECBs manually printed on the It’s Acad Scissors last night when everything else came out fine (also did not get the ECBs on the folders, but I totally missed it).

    • Shannon

I had to go to several CVS stores to get all the school supplies. The poly folders were only at one of the stores and they were in the special seasonal section in those yellow card boxes. Another thing I noticed, the Softsoap is brand new so most of the stores had them in special displays on the end caps or near the makeup. They don’t even have shelf tags for them yet. I purchased 4 of the Softsoaps and my card still doesn’t say “limit reached”.

    • Delores

I got the wrong size for the blink tears so did not get the ECBs, but then just returned the item, so got $3 profit since I had used the coupon and they gave me the whole amount back. I got a chocolate bar!!!!

    • Victoria

I noticed that the Complete 2-pack contact solution said “BOGO FREE” on the photo in the ad. I don’t know if it was a mistake in the making of the ad, but I asked my (fabulous) CVS guy about it. He tried to ring it up & it didn’t work. Two managers talked about it and they decided it must’ve been a mistake, but the ad reads —buy one twin pack, get one free, $8.99. They manually did the deal for me. Anyone else doing this deal?

    • Allison

I just wanted everyone who is doing the diaper deal to know that my CVS let me use both the -$1 Pampers coupons and the Buy Pampers, Get Wipes Free coupon that came in the 8/2 P&G insert. So I ended up using $14 ECB and only paying $5.68 for two packages of diapers and two boxes of wipes, and got $5 ECB back! Great deal if you can get it!

    • George

It doesn’t matter when I go to CVS (two different store). I can go late Saturday evening. early Sunday AM they never have any of the advertised items that give you ECB’s. They had one Electrosol late Saturday night before the sale and told me the truck would be in Tuesday.I just go in and get rain checks and hope one day when I am in the area they might have my items……

    • Angela

My ad also didn’t show the pepsi deal. I really wanted the pepsi. Oh well. I did get everything else. Thanks so much Jenny. I went to two different stores but I am happy. My stores near me (3) are alwasy out so my friend told me to come across town to her and that her store always have everything in it because people don’t do the CVSing. I am glad they don’t.
I will have to start going to her store for now on.

    • JOY

I wanted to know if the Visine deal and the Stayfree deal is either or both?I already bought two Stayfree and I also wanted to get the Visine, but it said in the flyer limit 1 and i wasn’t sure if that was also for the Visine. Thanks for your help!

    • Teresa

      George –
My CVS is always out of most everything too – even at midnight on the first day of the sale. I e-mailed corporate and complained about that and they replied – blah blah blah – but it’s still the same. Rain checks are all you can do. Oh well. Takes the fun out of it!

    • shawna

Did anyone notice on their receipt that the Softsoap offer limit was not reached after purchasing one? I’m thinking the limit is 2. I got “Quantity toward reward:1,Quantity to earn reward:1 “. Can anyone confirm?

    • lynn

shawna my receipt was the same as yours on the soft soap so i wonder

    • JenniferP

iheartcvs said the limit is actually 5…

I got my free gift today, got a pack of cvs batteries on my card and bottle of cvs ibuprofen on my husbands…wahoo!!

CVS is now charging tax on the subtotal of everything I purchase (except the free gifts) at least that is how my transactions rang up today. I made multiple purchases at two stores today..oh well…

    • Going to Florida –

I’m not sure if anyone answered you or not but most CVS stores will allow you to do different transactions so you can roll the ECBs. I go to a few CVS stores here locally because the CVS store by my MIL takes all CVS coupons that print even if it doesn’t go with anything I’m buying whereas my store doesn’t…but both stores allow me to do several transactions. I’m just cautions of the line behind me and step to the back if I have more to purchase as not to piss anyone off.

    • Catherine

I got lucky, my CVS opens at 10 AM. I made it there at 10:15, after our early service, and they had tons of electrosal, stayfree, and most of the school supplies. My son even consented to carry out my 4 bags full of stuff since I was in such a good mood. Spent $18 OOP but retained (rolled over) 18 ECB(hope next week is good too!) and even bought him a $6 toy! My free item was CVS brand asprin.
Thanks for the posting! I plotted the night before and was thrilled when it all worked. CVS rocks!

    • Emily

Reading all your posts makes me so jealous! I went to our two area CVS, and both were out of every SINGLE school supply that was on sale with ECB by 7:30 am… and will not restock until their thursday truck comes, and sorry no rain checks. This was my first time “CVSing” and will probably be my last as well!! I did get diapers, the blink eye stuff, and a body wash but it really wasn’t worth the hassle. I do have ECB leftover to try again, but I don’t hold high hopes :(

    • Dale

When I was a CVS this a.m., I asked the pharmacist about the ready fill and wanted to know if he had the coupon books. He was filling a prescription for someone, and said he did have the books. I would need to wait until he was done, and then he would get my “profile information” from me. This sounded like it was going to take some time, so I left as I was in a hurry. Did not get the books!

    • Amanda

My free item was a toothbrush, just what i needed;). I have received so many from Krogers recently, but I can always donate it!

    • Damien Barber

I did not get a Blink Q in my RP either this morning? Was this only given to certain regions? Or did noone else get them? We checked 2 papers and still no $3 off Q :(

    • Leigh Anne

I haven’t been to CVS yet; if my store is out of the Electrasol, they will give me a rain check and I can get the ECBs from this deal, even if it’s another week? Never tried getting a raincheck at CVS before. Please help! :)

    • Susan MacDon ald

It’s so interesting hearing the southern girls talk about everything being gone in the stores!! I live in Boston and there are always TONS of the deal items because no one up here CVS’s. I’m from St. Louis, so I have the frugal midwestern blood, but I’m SO amazed that I don’t see more of us!! By the way, Jenny, your CVS synapsis is THE BEST in the country, and I’ve looked at quite a few!!!

    • Shannon in ATL

Went back to CVS and picked up 4 more Softsoaps for a total of 5 today and ECBs printed for ALL five!!!

Leigh Anne…rainchecks are awesome..no stress of searching for items and you get the deal and your ECBs.

    • Sloan

I have this ongoing problem with CVS. Maybe some of you have figured out the “trick” to help me help my cashiers. This has happened several times, but this morning I went and I had lots of items and paid with coupons and ECB. He got to the last ECB the register beeped because I had a negative balance and he said – oh your balance is $7.93 and this ECB is $7.99, so you will lose a few cents. I said that was fine. Apparently he changed the ECB to $7.93 to make it even, but then it came up to $.75 for tax. I don’t understand how one second I have a negative balance and then I have to pay $.75. It’s not a huge deal, but with doing 4 or 5 transactions in a row, that adds up and I figure there must be a way. I think some managers have corrected that for me in the past to make it zero. Any hints?

    • Susan

    • Monica

My free item was a CVS chocolate bar and a friend’s item was free cvs mouthwash.

    • Elizabeth

Does anyone know if CVS will accept printable coupons? There are a lot of great websites, especially the ones Jenny references on here, but I don’t know if CVS will take them. Can anyone provide help/clarification on this? Thanks!

    • seacoastmom

Emily (post #161) It gets easier, really! I’m surprised by the “no raincheck” at your store but I guess each store is different.

I find that even when I have my list & coupons that my OOP is always higher than it think it should be but if I’m getting $30 or $40 worth of stuff for less than $5 AND I come out with a big bunch of ECB’s I very pleased overall.

I have found that since I’ve built up a stash of ECB’s that making one big purchase is easier for ME even if I send a couple extra $$. I’m so impressed with the people who do multiple transactions and spend a $1 or two (Like Jenny!), I just can’t get the hang of it.

      Good Luck!

    • Stacie

This week’s paper had free wipes when you buy any pampers diapers!!! So, free diapers plus free wipes, great deal!

    • claudine

I wish my free item was batteries, i definately always need some for the babys toys. I got free cvs brand asprin on both cards…. thats a lot of asprin! The lady in front of me got some free chocolate. YUM

    • claudine

can you use the free wipes coupon on the jumbo pack of diapers?? its says when you purchase a box, so I didnt even try. Let me know if it works!! Maybe I will sneak in some more cvs trips… i did 3 today!

    • nancy

when i first started cvsing is was hard. I did not get all of this. but after a while It was not that bad. I always call my cashiers by the first name so I can get to know them. If they do not have an item I do not get mad I just ask for a rain check. no problem. Then If I am lucky and find everything on the list. I will ask the cashier if it is ok to make multi-transactions. I the answer is yes I will say Thank you and let them know they can tell me to stop at anytime for another customer. I am polite they are polite. I even will excuse myself to another customer if i did not see they are waiting. After all they have a life to live, too. find out what is the best time to shop at your cvs. I know what deliver days are for all three stores. All ways have a small back up plan if you need to roll over ecbs. And sometimes we need to laugh at it all when we fumbled the ball and paid more than expected oop. After a while you will learn how the tax works or how the register will beep for the next time.

    • Melanie H.

I had the same thing happen to me that happened to Delores in #149. I got the wrong size Blink, used my coupon, and after my transaction I realized that I had gotten the wrong one, went to get the right one, they didn’t have it (of course), so they gave me a full refund. So I still made 3.00 off the deal and my free item was a huge chocolate bar!

    • Allison

I went to my CVS this morning and did the pampers deal and when I got to the register the woman checking me out saw my -$1 on pampers coupon and asked if I got them from the paper and told me that I could use the free wipes coupons with my transaction. I ran out to my car, got the coupons and went to grab some wipes. The kind of wipes listed on the coupon were gone but they let me get the green box of aloe wipes instead. The woman told me if the coupon scans, then they will take it so good luck!

    • claudine

wow that was really nice of her, Allison! I think i will go back tomorrow and try it!

    • I am rather new to couponing in general, especially CVS. For the last few weeks I have taken Jenny’s advice and started out slow. Mostly buying what I could find of the school supplies and rolling them to pay little out of pocket! saved 101.28
      Started with 2ecb
      Ended with 5 ecb

So I am very proud!! I am sure my OPP could have been smaller but I am learning:) I must say took me about 1 1/2 hours to work this out in my head…I’ll get better.
It is frustrating to have stores out of stuff. However I did all this at 4pm sunday after church and lunch all at the same store with my BFF.
Oh Yes and my free item was Asprin @3.49.

Luckily I livee within 20 minutes from 9 CVS stores!!!!

    • I was at CVS today and didn’t get a free item. WHere was it located on my receipt?

    • Never mind. I just noticed I got a CVS Brand Abs Divine Chocolate bar!

    • Elainda

First, I would like to THANK you so much for all the hard work you do!! I have just starting using coupons and I have a lot of work to do now. How can I get one of the B1G1 coupons for the Stayfree products? My free item is a 3oz CVS skin lotion! Thanks again for everything.

    • Shay957

I went to cvs and it cost me almost $17, are your oop figures before tax? Or how can I find out if the cashiers are ringing up and applying my coupons in the right order?

Helen when I went to cvs they were out of a bunch of school supplies so I just asked them if they would substute other products for those on the three day sale. Hope this helps.

    • Val

I went to CVS Sunday Morning when they opened. I had 5 transactions that the cashier was more than happy to help me with. I spent $17.34 oop. I bought 2 Toilet Bowl Cleaners, 2 Lysol Multi Purpose Spray, 2 Electrasol, 2 Pampers Easy Ups, 2 Pampers Wipes, 2 Stay Free Pads, 1 Softsoap Body Wash, Four 12 packs pepsi Products, 2 Rulers, 2 Notebooks, 2 Packs pencils, 1 Protractor, 1 Compass, 2 Packs Sticky Notes. My free item was a CVS lotion. I wanted to get the coupon book from the pharmacy, but they were not open yet. The cashier did let me use my Rite Aid coupons, so that worked out better anyway. I have 4 ECB remaining and I am planing on going back today for a few items I missed.

    • Mikey

I got a $10.00 off $50.00 or more from the machine at the fron of our store. At the bottom it says “Limit of one purchase based coupon, I.E. $4.00 of $20.00 purchase per transaction”. What does that mean? I was trying to figure out if I want to invest some more $ in ECBs or just pitch the coupon.

    • Elainda

I have just started using coupons so I don’t have a large supply yet, does anyone know where I can find one of the B1G1 Stayfree online? Thanks!!

    • Laurel

I just started using coupons a couple weeks ago. I don’t have kids in diapers anymore but I am still finding a lot of helpful tips on Southern Savers. I will certainly be heading to CVS this week to stock up on school supplies for my kids. Thanks!

    • kelli

I went to CVS to get my other 4 Softsoaps today. :) It worked fine for me. I told my fiance that he needs to go get his other 4, not sure if he will or not.

They didn’t have Blink tears at my store today or yesterday. They get shipments on Tuesday, so I’ll have to go over first thing in the morning and try to get them. They also didn’t have the folders at my store, they said that they might have some in the shipment too.

    • CJ

Ok, I did my first CVS trip Sunday. I was confused when I had a bit more out of pocket than I thought I would. I realized that more than $5 of it is tax. Even though my subtotal was 0 I still had to pay the tax. Is this normal? Do the ECB sometimes cover the tax too, or is this to be expected every week?

    • Adriane

I was able to get 2 Softsoaps today, like Kelli! (I only had 2 coupons or I would have tried more.) I got 1, then in the car I was double-checking my receipt, and at the bottom it didn’t say “offer limit reached” for that offer. So I went back in with my other coupon and asked if the limit was higher since it didn’t say “offer limit reached.” The cashier said that the ad said limit one, and if I used coupons and the ECBs didn’t print, she’d only be able to give me store credit back. I told her that was fine, and they did print! My receipt still doesn’t say “offer limit reached” so I may print more coupons from my other computer and make some more money on soap :)

Sharan #77 – The $5/$30 (and similar) coupons come off of your pre-coupon total. You just need to hand them this coupon FIRST so the computer knows that your total is over $30.

The Electrasol deal can be a money-maker too!
      Buy (5) @ $4.50 each
Use (1) $4/$20 coupon (from the AutoFill booklet)
      Use (5) $2.50/1 coupons
      Pay $6 OOP
      Get $10 ECB back!

I’m also going to use another $4/$20 on Stayfree & Blink:
      Buy (2) Stayfree @ $5 each
      Use (1) $1/1 IP
      Use (1) B1G1
      Buy (1) Blink Tears @ $7.99
      Use (1) $3/1 IP
Buy $2.01 worth of filler items (I’ll be getting them free anyway)
      Pay $7 OOP
      Get $12.99 ECB back

    • Tiffany

Well – I was a little late, but it worked out great anyway. I wasn’t exactly ready today, so I grabbed what I knew I could handle today and went with it. I love my CVS – the ladies that work there are wonderful!! They are patient and help me break it all out to stretch my ECB’s until they hollar – LOL.
I left with 2 notebooks, 2 book covers, 1 protractor, 1 compass, 4 copy paper packs (with raincheck from last week), 1 fusion razor ($4Q), 1 gillette body wash (free wyb fusion razor Q), 1 gillette shampoo (free wyb fusion razor Q), 1 softsoap body wash ($2 Q)(but I am going back to check on the 4 more deal – thanks Jenny!), 2 packs of orange slices (coupon that printed today), CVS hand lotion (free item of the month), 3 roll CVS paper towels (coupon printed today) – after the coupons and ECB’s, paid $5 OOP, have $10 ECB left for tomorrow’s run. Oh – and got the coupon book from the pharmacy with no problem. Also – filled out a register reciept for an extra $5/$20 purchase – something about re-entering my email address, said I would get the next one in a few weeks.
I don’t know how I ever thought I was saving money before, because I am getting it for minimal OOP or free now. :D Thanks Jenny – your tips along with everyone else in the comments section has really made my shopping well planned and cost effective. My family is amazed at what I have come home with for very little money.

How can I find out what is going to be on sale ahead of time? I know some people have said that thier CVS let them shop Sat. night. Just wondering how I can get the info.

    • Elainda, i have one left…email me @ savvysingle@gmail.com

    • Sylvie

Sorry if this has already been said… I scanned back through as many comments as I could.

My free item was CVS asprin valued up to $3.69. I wanted the chewables and there were only 2 choices… one was $1.99 and the other over $5, so I picked the one that would work for my free item ($1.99).

When I was checked out, the CRT rang up as -$3.69 instead of -$1.99. It’s ringing up the coupon value as what is printed as “up to…” and that it doesn’t depend what the item actually costs (like a normal “free” item would).

I’ve read this on another site as well, so I know mine was not an accident.

It was extra money towards my purchase, so I thought I’d let everyone know about the BONUS that could possibly go with their free item if they don’t pick the most expensive choice. :)

ugh!!!Went to three CVS in Cleveland at their open times (they are staggered since it was Sunday) and NO ONE had electrasol in stock. After the thrid store I was told that “the product just didn’t come in on the truck.” One store did offer me a rain check with the register rewards. Kudos to her and the location on South Lee Hwy!!!

    • Hi all:) This is my first week CVS’ing as you would say. I purchased the scissors and erasers on sale for ECB’s. I asked the cashiers if they could please give me a raincheck for the other items I wanted and they said that they couldn’t do rainchecks on the three day sale items – is this correct? I was under the impression it wasn’t:)
Oh, last thing – THIS SITE IS AWESOME:) I am so excited about couponing and CVS’ing:)

    • Terri

Shay957 try the website iheartcvs.com. It shows the ad for the upcoming week.

    • Tiffani

I thought I was losing my mind when I went into CVS on Sunday and planned on getting the 12pk of sodas and get the $4ECB, I stared at the ad for a good 5 minutes trying to figure out what was wrong. My ad didn’t have it included in the 3 day sale. Does this happen often, I thought their ads were pretty much the same nationwide. By the way, I’m in Alabama.

    • Tiffani

And our visine was only $3.99 not $4.50.

    • nancy

I had a great time at my cvs with those Q from the pharmacy. I used the 3 off 12 for eye care. Then used 4 off 20 for the dipers along with Q that were a few days expired. I opp today was around 3.00. Had a blast. the cashiers are greattttt. I have found store and go there every monday. I went through three before I found one that would work with me.

    • Carla

Is the Pepsi deal not advertised? I went to my CVS and I didn’t see it in the circular and I didn’t see the Softsoap deal either.

    • Angel R.

Does anyone know where I can get the $2.50 Electrosol coupons? The only place I’ve found them is on eBay … would rather get what I need from a clipping service. TheCouponClippers doesn’t seem to have this one, for some reason.

    • ET

Sylvie #195, mine didn’t work that way. My freebie was the CVS chapstick and although it said $0.99 on the shelf, it rang up as $0.25. My cashier adjusted it to subtract just $0.25. I’m not complaining though!

    • c.marie

On page 5 of the ad on the bottom it says buy any stationary item get a select writing instrument for 1 cent…what is the select items?

    • Sheri

Went to CVS today. Asked if they had a pamphlet on the auto refill. Looked and couldn’t find one. All they had was a coupon book, but didn’t have any info in it for the auto refill program. I just commented that I would like one of those. They just handed it to me. Then I asked if I could get one for my mother. She gave me another.

That was ggggrrrrreat… Made my day!

Didn’t buy anything, since all of the school supplies were gone. Just went up front and had the poor girl write all of the rainchecks that never expire… I’m not in a hurry. I can wait ’til the have them.

By the way, GREAT site Jenny. I’m signing up here in Kentuckiana.

    • JenniferP

I got a highlighter for my 1 cent item. They also had pens and permanent markers. They were not on the wall where most of the school supplies were, they were on the aisle where more supplies are kept and in a white box on the top shelf. It wasn’t very easy to find and the box was plain with no writing at all..

    • nancy

Sylvie are you saying you found overage with your free cvs Q. I have the same Q I am going to try it today.

    • Karen

Hi my name is karen and I’m new to all of this!!! My husband and I are expecting our first baby any day now, and as a new mom and wife i want to do everything possible to make our money last longer. I have read most of the posts on here , i was wondering what ECB means and what it is. I have a cvs card, but i never go there because the pharmacie’s is usualy really expensive. So I noticed alot of you are using double coupons , are only certain stores doing this? Any advice u give will be very helpful!!!! Thanks!

    • Martha

I haven’t found where does it say receive $5 ECB for $10 in stayfree products. Just in case they don’t print.

    • Kristen

I made a small CVS discover… I went to a 24-hour store Saturday night for my first transaction. This happened before midnight, so the manager manually printed the ECBs. Those ECBs were rounded to $1 instead of $0.99! Sunday when I went to get more school supplies, I noticed on my receipt that the purchases from the previous night were not on there! So, I repeated Saturday nights purchase and received all the ECBs again! YAY!

    • Sylvie

Nancy, yes. My coupon was for free aspirin. I chose a $1.99 chewable and the coupon scanned for $3.69 (which was the maximum amount listed on the coupon). I had a lot of other stuff, so it just applied that to the other items (YAY!) I wondered why my total was lower than I’d expected, so I looked at the register receipt and sure enough… it was like I had read on another site (I think) that the “free item” coupons are scanning at their full amount. Good luck with yours!!

Karen, Jenny has some good info for beginners here on the site. I think there’s a Coupons 101 that’s good, as well as a link way up at the top for getting started with CVS and Walgreens.

    • Sylvie

E.T., I just read what you wrote… bummer! I wonder if it was a fluke on mine OR if it’s just the free aspirin people that got lucky?!! I’m glad I got lucky… and no matter what, free is free… hooray for free!

    • Kristen

Martha~ Look at the top of page 18 on the scan of the circular. It says, “Spend $10 get $5 extra bucks when you buy any of these J&J health care products.” Below that are pictures and descriptions of all the products included. Hope that helps.

    • kelli

My fiance had a coupon for a free toothbrush, which was $1.99. The coupon said value up to $2.29 but he only saved the $1.99, the cashier had to type in the price. I read that some people were getting overage with these and I wanted to make sure that everyone knows that you might not get it. Our cashier was kind of a jerk though…

    • Elainda

I’m a little upset and confused! I went to my local CVS this morning to grab the Softsoft stuff,,, it was no where to be found, not even an empty spot on the shelf, not even a tag on the shelf anywhere. I asked about it, the girls went to look and stated that they didn’t have any but they get shipments on Wed. and it might be on the truck then. Now this is one of the 3 day sale items, so I don’t understand why they wouldn’t have it in stock?! She gave me a raincheck for “1”,, I had planned to buy several,, but can’t. My question is, should I call the head office to complain or is this just my luck?

    • Angel R.

The 24-hr CVS on Main Street Summerville has plenty of the Softsoap NutriSerum. I got four today – that’s all the coupons I had. :)

    • alisha

I’m havung a really hard time getting coupons online…. any suggestions?

    • Emily W.

I went today to my CVS in Norman, OK to get the 1.99 Benefiber deal. Turns out they had the 14.95 oz Benefiber Plus Calcium on a 75% off clearance for $2.92 (orig. 11.69). I bought 2 of them and was able to use my 2 Benefiber printables ($2 off 1) and my CVS register coupon ($3 off 1). Then the $6 in ECB’s printed out too! Woo-Hoo! I’m not sure if this is a company-wide clearance or not, but it’s a great deal if you can find them!
Thanks Jenny for all that you do….you rock!

    • Kristen

    • Tiffany

Heads up – to any of you that got the $5 ECB for $10 J&J products (Benedryl)…
The original store price is $4.99. The sale price for this promo is $5 – so that you only have to buy two to get the ECB’s. Yesterday I was in such a rush that I didn’t notice that I didn’t get those ECB’s – how disappointing. But today I went back (they know me) and she adjusted and printed my ECB’s. Yay!
To those of you that have terrible customer service – keep shopping around. I went to many and had dreadful shopping experiences to the point that I was ready to throw in the towel. But on a last ditch effort, I went to a store not far from me that is sort of isolated from everything else in the city – and I found the NICEST employees, pharmacy techs and store manager you would ever like to deal with.

    • Jennifer

I went to CVS today to get the 2/$20 and receive $5 ECB diaper deal.
      $20.00 Diapers
      -$2.00 MFG coupons
      -$12.00 ECB
-$2.29 for free CVS toothbrush. I had forgotten I had it in the pile
the cashier asked if I was going to
      get the toothbrush. Told him
no since I work at a dentist office
I can get all the free toothbrushes
I want. He said I’ll just credit it
to your total then. Wow- that was
      nice of him!
      $4.02 OOP
      +$5.00 ECB

If I would have read the post before going I could have used the free wipe coupon but I was like others and thought they could only be used on boxes of diapers.

A question off the subject. i saw they had Playschool diapers buy 1 get 2nd 50% off. Has anyone used these?

    • nancy

I had to fill out a prescription today and though I would do at CVS. when I asked about the gift card. Nice Lady said I had to bring in a paper. So, I did not get the gift card. is that true??? Because my refill is going to be cheaper at my regular place. And if am not getting a gift card I will transfer it next month back to my regular place.

    • nancy

i got a two dollar off huggies last monday at cvs crt.

    • Colleen

I didn’t get the free gift here in Nashville on my CVS transactions this past weekend. It was in our flyer but nothing printed out. I didn’t ask about it though as it was my first time CVSing. Worked out great! And we did have the Blink coupon in our inserts so there are some out there. It was central to my plan so glad we had it!

    • Jennifer C.

I ordered my electrasol coupons about two weeks ago from the Coupons and Things by Dede website. I don’t know if you still have time but she has about 500 left.

    • Christin

Don’t know if anyone posted this but here is a good idea for “filler” item. They have Dawn dish soap for .99 cents. there is a .50 cents q in the paper and a .25 cents q. You can use either. Most stores don’t have anything less than .49 cents, or so that is what I have found.

    • kelli

I know that this is a little late but I’ve been unpacking and I finally found my coupons and got to go to CVS last minute tonight. I bought:

      2 boxes of Electrosol = $9
      2 cans of Lysol disinfectant = $8
      1 can of Lysol NutraAir = $3
      1 Abs Divine Chocolate bar = $1.99
      – (2) $2.50 off Electrosol
      – (2) $1 off Lysol disinfectant
      – $1.50 off NutraAir
      – $1.99 free chocolate bar
      – $9.98 ECBs ($4, $4, $1.98)
Total OOP = 2.10 and I got $10 ECBs back

I wish I had seen the $5 off $25 printable before I went shopping, I would’ve picked up one of the things that I’ve got rain checks for and made the deal even better. Oh well, I still think it was a pretty good deal. :)
