Groupon is running a promotion which allows you to donate $15 to Greenpeace and receive $15 Groupon Bucks in exchange.  Basically this means you can give a free donation to Greenpeace.

You will need to pay upfront and then you’ll get your $15 credit to Groupon on 4/15, so don’t worry when it doesn’t show up right away.

(By the way in case you missed the Barnes & Noble groupon is still hanging around!)

Greenpeace is no longer the organization it once was. Google and read the comments of it's founder, Patrick Moore, as to why he left the organization.

Did anyone watch the Super Bowl last night? Groupon had a commercial and I really found it offensive. Maybe it was just me, but to start talking about the plight of the Tibetian people and then turn it around to something along the lines of sucks to be them, but we can eat in a resturant cheap thanks to Groupn….I have used them in the past, but I doubt I will in the future. One person wont make a difference, but it will make me feel better! =+)

      • Miseryhaha

Man, I wondered if I was the only one freaked by that commercial…I can't believe the sponsor went with such a horrible concept, or that the stations actually aired it! I imagined the Dalai Lama just shaking his head, thinking China stole Tibet, and we stole their dignity.

About the GreenPeace/ Patrick Moore comment I would encourage you all to get informed and read both sides, before trying to stop supporting an organization that can do more good than harm. Just knowing that Mr. Moore started a Salmon farm gives me the hint that he did not care much about nature conservancy, in that fact even Dr. Oz urge us to stay away from farm raised seafood for the use of antibiotics and other not very natural factors involve (Dr. Oz is not a extremist or have political agenda ). (That's only a tiny example, there is plenty of material )
Sorry I went too long and if I offended somebody not my intention, just want everybody to do your own homework about the subject, make your own decision . And look after your self and your children's home anyway you want.

      • Bgaines

Absolutely, do your homework and see what you are supporting. Greenpeace is no longer non-violent. That may not be an issue to someone with strong feelings about the environment. But sometimes, the money and time and effort you are giving to support an organization can be undone by the “charitable giving” of another. If you support the 2nd amendment, Starbucks may not be your first choice for coffee. If you are pro-life, Susan G. Komen or United Methodist Women may not be your first choice for charity…

Neato… I can't wait until Groupon has this promotion offer for Al Qaeda.

I just used my B&N groupon to buy a DVD set for my husbands V day gift. It was worth 100 and was on sale for 50, used the groupon which brought the actual cost down to 40 then used a coupon code for 15% off which brought it down to 35, went through ebates and am going to get 4% back. Oh and free shipping too. Teehee. So $100 dvd set of The Universe for around $33 shipped!

    • Kerry

      Greenpeace is an awful organization.

      • Miseryhaha

Can you tell us WHY Greenpeace is so awful? Perhaps You could nominate a favorite for Groupon to feature, it sounds as if you know quite a bit about charitable foundations.

    • more cowbell

I can think of a lot more awful organizations than Greenpeace. I would like to think a coupon site could be non-political. If you like what Greenpeace stands for, buy the Groupon. If you don't, then don't buy the Groupon. What is offensive is politicizing Starbucks, The Komen Foundation or the Methodist Women and Greenpeace. Please, can't we all just get along…..
