Kroger Weekly Ad 7/5-7/11

on 7.5.2009 at 5:45pm

This post may contain affiliate links. Read our disclosure here.

These deals start today 7/05, in Kroger stores in the Southeast Region. If you feel couponing is a game, then I hope you know that Kroger plays the game ruthlessly. Their ad drives me crazy with the amount of deals that are not on sale, or are marked up and placed in the ad to look on sale. This week their plan is to rob you of your brand new P&G e coupons and great new P&G coupons from today’s paper. Many of the items in the sale flyer are regular price. Not on sale at all. Wait! Do not play your e coupons and paper coupons yet. Kroger will really put these on sale before everything expires.

I have added unadvertised deals I found in the store.  This is really not a great week and there was very little in the store I found.  If you find a great deal share!!

  1. Load your P&G, Shortcuts and Cellfire Coupons before going out. (E coupons information)
  2. You can use a paper coupon with all the above e coupons for FREE products or even better savings WHY
  3. You do not have to buy 2 of B1G1 items to get the sale price
  4. Most Kroger stores double coupons that are .50¢ or less

Love your thoughts on Kroger this week! It made me smile to here you describe the “game”. I could feel the anger. lol. Drives me crazy too.

    • Jenn

We don’t have a Kroger by us in Greenville, SC. So I was hoping for a good week since we were in Atlanta on holiday. I missed last weeks sales yesterday, which bummed me out. And this week was a huge disappointment. Oh well, maybe next trip :)

    • Jenica

I thought the Herbal Essence and Aussie shampoo would be a good deal for .99, are these items that I should wait on? Kroger and Walmart are the only stores I have here.

      • Jenny

That is a pretty good for the herbal essences and aussie. The herbal essences might go cheaper at a drugstore but the aussie probably won’t get much cheaper (since there are no paper coupons out).

    • Sharon

Aha! Thanks for the tipoff on that. I was thinking there wasn’t anything that made my heart go pitter-patter in the circular. I guess it’s just carrots for me this week!

    • Pat in Richmond

LOVE your honesty, Jenny! Not only do I not like shopping at the Kroger store nearest to me, I had already seen some of their “sale” items were regular prices at other stores. (Plus, the sale prices, in Richmond, aren’t as good as most of you guys get.) I had pretty much decided to shop at Kroger when I could use e-coupons AND paper coupons, together. Also, I sent an email to Kroger customer service a week ago, asking a question, and haven’t received a response….poor customer service.

Thanks, again, for all the effort you put into the great deal suggestions you give us….I am LOVING shopping at CVS, now! It’s a challenge to see how many ECBs I can carry from one week to the next…even better, when I get something FREE or get “paid” to shop.

    • saroo

lol sharon, i liked the .39 carrots as well.

jenny, just wanted to add that at my kroger there was a mail-in rebate for ca pizza kitchen or digiorno flatbread melts attached to the freezer case right in front of them (up to 3.49). little moneymaker if you have coupons for either of those.

    • Kim M

Haven’t thoroughly scoped out the Kroger ad – but thanks for the heads up since that is the main place I get my coupon deals. FYI – not sure how they handle this in the South, but the Riteaid here wouldn’t let me use a $1.00 coupon for a .99 cent item even though I was purchasing several more items. Additionally, the clerk told me I could only use one internet printed coupon per transaction. They were not for the same item and were not for instant rebates. A little frustrated there.

Walgreens ads just don’t seem to be worth the effort here. CVS – is a blessing. Thanks for all the deal scenarios.

FYI – saw a woman today in CVS with her coupons all organized, her blog printout in hand and working her way through the deals.

    • Jana

I totally agree with the comment about Kroger. I actually did all my grocery shopping at Publix this week. I am increasingly getting more frustrated with kroger…thought it was just me.

    • AngelathecouponNERD

      Jana –
Nope, it’s not just you. I think I will skip Kroger this week.
Spent $17, saved 79% at Publix just now. Have a CVS plan to do tomorrow.

    • I think Kroger’s going on my “only when it’s free” list.

    • Chrystal H

I bought 4 Fruit Rollups and used 2 coupons for .50/2 and when I got to the register I also got to use some ecoupons, and General Mills had given me $2.50 off my next order! [The coupons says: Buy Betty Crocker Fruit Shapes, Fruit by the Foot, Gushers, Fruit Rollups or Fruit Rollups Fruit Stackers between 6/19 and 7/12 buy(3) and get $1.50…OR buy (4) and get $2.50…OR by (5) or more and get $3.50…coupon off your next order.] The deals had been so bad on these for the last little bit so I didnt realize this was offered until now.
Also, I bought 2 Digiorno Crispy Flatbread Pizza with a $1.50 off coupon for each (making them $3.49 ea) and got two $1.00 off next order coupons! So I will have $4.50 off my next shopping order! I WAS HAPPY!

    • I agree with Jen about Kroger. Mine drives me crazy with a skimpy sales ad then a store full of unadvertised sales. That’s not the way I shop anymore. However, I always do a walk through meat and dairy looking for manager’s specials with every trip. I am scoring big time on back to school for my daughter – I’m using the $1 off Food Lion store brand products in Kroger and getting the paper products on my list for free. And if I don’t buy meat at Sam’s club then I usually buy it in bulk at Kroger.

Kim M., If a cashier refused the coupon because it was over (a penny, come on!) then I would call back and talk to a manager. They can always manually enter the coupon for 99 cents instead of scanning it. If the manager agrees then you might be able to take your receipt and coupon to customer service and get a refund.

    • Honey

I have not been finding many “manager’s specials” at Kroger lately. And I agree this is not a good week. But, I was planning to try to eat out of my freezer as much as possible so I could defrost it-so it’s perfect timing for a bad week:)

    • I have been experience issues with my IE closing when I go to this web site and many others in the office are as well but some are fine with no errors, Have you updated this web page some time last week>>

I did upgrade to flash 10 but still have errors with it cloing IE

      Any thoughts

    • Kroger has gotten a little crazy here in West Knoxville too. They have changed their coupon policy to only let you use 3 internet coupons for the same type of item per transaction and no internet coupons for ‘free’ items. The new apple bites coupon is for $1 off a multipack or a a free single and they won’t do the free single pack.

    • Su

I am headed to Kroger to get the Kraft Cheese Deal.

Buy 5 packs at 99¢ each
Use 2 of the $1 off 2 coupons found on the penguins aroudn town
So that makes getting 5 packs for $3
And then a catalina for $4 off your next order prints out at checkout for buying 5 bags/bars of cheese.
So essentially you are making a $1 for buying 5 bags of cheese.
All the details are on my blog here:

    • Elizabeth

I visited my local Kroger store on July 4th and got a great deal on a PUR pitcher (water filtering system). The regular price was $19.99 and I used the P&G e-coupon for $5 off along with a paper coupon for $7.50 off which was in the Parade magazine insert in last Sunday’s paper. Yep, for a total of $12.50 off, making it $7.49 for a new pitcher with filter. Just mentioning this since it’s a non-food item.

Also, the cashier made the mistake of scanning my Bi-Lo store card instead of Kroger card. I got the typical Kroger store discounts but my e-coupons were not applied. I had to return some items at customer service and have them rescan my Bi-Lo card then scan the items I needed returned and then scan my Kroger card so that my e-coupons would be credited. The floor manager there was very helpful and noticed the mistake of the card number on the initial receipt. He didn’t give me a hard time at all about the e-coupons and paper coupons being combined and gladly gave me the appropriate refund. I may have to keep my store cards on separate key rings. He said that the registers pick up all the store cards usually, possibly because they have the same style bar codes or were made by the same company.

    • crystal

I have noticed alot of places doing the “no free item” internet coupons, that stinks

    • Laura B

I had a question on the CATALINAs. I also took advantage of the .99 Kraft cheese deal, and was wondering if I make another trip and bought more cheese would I get another Catalina?

      • Jenny

You will get another catalina, they are rolling. Which means that you can get one pay with it and get another.

    • Laura B

Wow, thanks. I will stock up on cheese for the year :)

    • I went to Kroger today (7/6) and got a DiGiorno Pizza for $4.99, used the $1.25 printable Q and suprisingly got a $1 off my next order for buying the DiGiorno Pizza. Do you know what the catalina deal is for DiGiorno?

    • Sharon

Carrot confusion! Watch the register if you buy the .39 carrots. They rang up at 1.00 and I didn’t notice because my daughter was going bonkers. I checked my receipt on the way out and then went to customer service. I got a refund, so maybe it’s better I didn’t catch it right away!

    • Stacie F in AL

      Jenny –

Just so you know another “UNADVERTISED” special that I saw was Smart Water was 10/$10 here in Huntsville and with the coupons from 6/21 $1/2 makes them .50 ea. HTH!

    • Brenda

Has anyone tried to use the Alexia Sweet Potato fries coupon from the above link? I tried it last night and the coupon wouldn’t scan, didn’t even beep. The cashier just handed it back and said it won’t scan. I had about 20 other coupons that scanned with no problem. The coupon itself prints a little blurred…not sure if that’s the issue.

    • Michele

The Krogers near me in Alpharetta GA are selling milk for $1.99 per gallon.

    • Julie

Tamara, which Kroger do you shop at? I’m in Powell and usually go to the Clinton Hwy Kroger, but I also stop by the Middlebrook Pike one on my way to/frm work. Haven’t had any problems at my usual Kroger but I generally don’t use more than 2-3 same coupons in one transaction. I hope Kroger doesn’t try to go the way of Ingles with coupons…

Oh, and I did swing by last night to snag a loaf of bread, the Herbal Essence styler and Aussie styler. E-coupons worked like a charm; look for cans of Aussie hairspray or other with “Happy 30th B-Day Aussie” shrink wrap. You get a little purple kangaroo toy and a $1.00 coupon for any Aussie product.

    • JulieD

I tried couponing for the first time this week after a very good tutorial from my sister, who highly recommended this site. I was a bit confused, however, because my Kroger in Memphis has an ad that runs Wednesday thru Tuesday each week. This one that you posted shows a Sunday thru Saturday. Has anyone else had this issue?

Are they the same ads…just coming out late?

      • Jenny

Julie they are pretty much the same, though you will have some regional differences in produce etc.

    • JulieD

      Thanks, Jenny!

    • WOW! What an awesome deal on cheese, it’s the best I’ve seen yet! I’m stocking up for sure. I went in today and bought 5 bags, paid, got the catalina coupon, went right back and got 5 more and used the coupon for $4 off and only paid $1.08 for 5 bags of shredded cheese!!!! My husband couldn’t believe it! I got another coupon that printed out and I’m going back again tomorrow to grab some more and freeze it. We use a lot of shredded cheese and it’s so expensive, I’m so happy that they have this deal. :)

    • Leah

My Kroger stores in Jackson TN do not offer the majority of the prices on the site. Some times they are close, but this week there are not any $.88 items or $1 items and the cheese sale is not an option. I have checked several zip codes and looked at the differences, some weeks they are huge. Memphis and Jackson run similar adds and the sales are never as good. I am not sure why this is but it stinks. Good Luck!

    • Dawn W

I was just at the Kroger in Powder Springs and one of the sales persons shared that Kroger corporate has mandated that they are now only taking one coupon per product. No manf. coupon and stacking an internet coupon. They will not combine and manf. coupons and a smartsource coupon either. It is per product now. This person did say that there was no mention of changes to the esavers on-line (P&G, shortcuts, or cellfire) so those still stack. It did on my receipt today. Now that puts a hitch in my get-a-long. I will have to strategize more, but it can still be done. Check with your store for updates to the mandate.
      Good Luck.
      Good Luck

    • Jenny, you are absolutely right, Kroger plays the game ruthlessly! I’ve noticed the same thing before that they will advertise a product on sale, when it is really at its regular price! This is clearly false advertising, guess they can get away with it though. They’re always trying to beat us (the consumer), so they can get more of our money. Anyways, I saw an unadvertised sale at my local Richmond, VA Kroger for a variety of different packs of gum B1G1F.

    • Stephanie

Is the downy coupon a regional coupon. I am in Atlanta, I use the AJC. I can’t find it.

    • Pat in Richmond

My Kroger sells the Dentastix for $4.59. I will still get them free, with the ecoupon and a paper coupon…yippee!

    • tn_native

I heard a portion of a Southeast Krogers 3 day sale on my way to work this morning. End of had mentioned ‘less than 20 cents a lb’ for potatoes (probably a BIG bag) and 59 cent a lb Perdue Whole Chickens.

    • tn_native

More info on 3 day sale (Southeast District ONLY)

10 lb bag of Russet Potatoes $1.99

      Whole Perdue Chickens $0.59/lb

Kroger Brand 1/2 Gallon Chocolate Milk $0.99

most IPs are manufacturer coupons, so it surprises me that they’d let you stack a regular manufacturer coupon with an IP in the first place.

I’m bummed because my store (houston) does not have the lever on sale. We got $1.50 off coupons here, so that’s probably why. No sale on the old spice deodorant either. Oh well, Maybe next week.

ok i need help im teyin to do the coupon thing but i dont understand what the ss means beside the coupons in red at the top of the page i thought it was southern saver but idk help please.

      **Jenny Here**
SS means SmartSource the name of one of the weekly Sunday coupon inserts in the news paper so SS 6/21 would mean that it was in the SmartSource insert from 6/21.

Chrissy – SS stands for Smart Source, the coupon insert brand or type.
Start with the “getting started ” post and you’ll see a whole list of the lingo explained.

Don’t forget the 3 day sale. Kroger chocolate milk, bag of potatoes and 6 pack cokes $1.99. I don’t have the prices of the milk and potatoes.

If you have a cell-fire coupon and a shortcut coupon loaded, will they both work – or will it only do take off one? Also, noticed our Kroger had Gerber baby food on sale tonight – hope it will last until next week since I have some coupons. Thanks!
