While it is no means fall around these parts (still feels like summer to me!), September is the month that sort of kicks off the autumn season for most people. Companies start releasing fall-inspired lattes, candles that smell like leaves and cinnamon, and menus spotted with pumpkin this and pumpkin that.

I thought it might be fun to gather up some recipes that remind me of fall, but that doesn’t necessarily mean I’m going to be eating super-hot soups or heavy desserts. I want to celebrate the beginning of the season with the rest of the country, but I’m not sure that we need to start eating big bowls of piping hot chili or wrapping up in scarves and boots just yet…

Watch for a great sale on pork chops and you’ll love this recipe.  It also calls for Apple Cider which you may not keep on hand but it’s worth grabbing some.  The kids won’t complain either.

Fall Frittata with Sausage, Butternut Squash, and Kale – Whip and Wander

Any recipe you can make with eggs as your primary protein is a money saver.  This frittata from Whip and Wander brings eggs to a wonderful level adding in butternut squash and other fall favorites.

One Pot Sausage & Mushroom Pasta – Budget Bytes

We see sausage, pasta and mushrooms on sale all the time!  Also, I know mushroom is in the name but you won’t taste them.  It’s a great comfort food level recipe that is very on budget.

Snickerdoodle Cookies – Sally’s Baking Addiction

Just adding this to the list makes me want to start baking.  We LOVE this recipe and in general love snickerdoodles (Sally never goes wrong though she lives on a pedestal in our house).  If you want other great fall cookie you can also whip up these soft Molasses Cookies.
