When an item is B1G1 at Walgreens, do you have to actually buy 2 of the item to get the sale price or is it something where you can buy one and it rings up 1/2 price (like at Publix)?

(Just wondering about the Hawaiian Tropic deal)

      • Jenny

You have to buy 2 items with B1G1 sales at drugstores. They ring up Full price and Free.

    • Kristina from Kennesaw

Nope. It rings up full price unless you get 2. CVS is that way too.

    • Sylvie

Thank you Kristina! Guess I’ll be sharing sunscreen with all the neighbors! I know there are cheaper sunscreens out there, but the H.T. just smells like summer!!!

    • Kristina from Kennesaw

    • Beth A

I’m heading out to try this for the first time but I have a quick question–when shopping Walgreens or CVS, do I have to have the cashier ring up each item as a separate transaction?

    • Whitney

Banana Boat is B1G1 and there is a $2 off printable here:

    • Jenny, help me figure this deal out. I have just gone totally blank. For the dixie deal I have cpns to save $1.00 wyb one plates and one napkins; then a cpn to get free napkins wyb 2 pkgs of plates and Walgreens has then BOGO….Help!

    • lynn

ok i walgreens register rewards if i use the register rewards to buy a item that also has register rewards will it print the register reward if i am paying with reward ?

    • Reagan

My walgreens won’t let me use a manufacturer coupon and pay with RR because they say its like using two manufacturer coupons. Does anyone else have this problem?

    • Gail

Hi! I have been posting my issue with Walgreens over the past few weeks (look back in May). I could not get back to update my post until now. A regional manager of Walgreens called me on the issue of not getting my RR’s back on some transactions. The only thing I got out of the whole conversation was Walgreen’s corp. people don’t even understand how the RR’s work. I was told you must meet the advertised price or a reg. reward will not print out.

I went to another Walgreens and did Jennys Working Walgreens A plan to help you learn to roll your Register Rewards from 5/10-516 before going out of town and Guess What – it work! I find it very intesting that one Walgreens catalina won’t print out the RR’s but another a few miles away DOES. Go figure!!!!

    • Gail

You should be able to use a manufacturer coupon and pay with a RR as long as you have more products than manufacturer coupons. The RR is considered to be a manufacturer coupon.

    • Gail

Reagan, I did not say it correctly in my last post to you. You have to have the same amount of items or more items than manufacturer coupons. So you would at least have to have two items to use your RR mfg coupon & you other mfg coupon.

And for Lynn – it should print another RR for you unless you are trying to buy the same product that you got your RR from in the first place.

    • lynn

thank you gail for a quick answere i am just starting to learn walgreens now that i have a good handle on cvs i have crossed target off my list of good deals cause the deals i did try there the manager would on let me use one coupon either a store coupon or a manf coupon but not booth so now iam trying wags hope it all worksfor me thanks

    • lynn

oh and smart source has a coupon for 2.25 off ecotrin might want to get ready for next weekend

    • lynn

one last question if walgreen rr are manufactor coupons then how come other store like publix wont take them?

    • Gail

The Albertson’s here takes the reg. rewards but I don’t know about any other store. You would think they would all do it but it probably is like all the stores other coupon policies – it goes by what each store wants to do.

    • MiniMidgMom

I’ve found that the cashiers in Walgreen’s don’t seem to understand couponing in general – there is more than one at my store that seem to think that the store loses money when a customer uses manufacturer’s coupons. One even said she thought Publix lost money when somebody used a manu coupon, but then she said she thought they got reimbursed by competitor’s when they take those coupons. She thinks Publix will stop taking all coupons someday or go out of business. I was stunned that this store has two cashiers that think this way! Makes you wonder what the management is saying. And it explains why they are so uncoperative – they think couponers will drive them out of business.

    • Gail

I don’t know anything on how the stores get their money back from manufacturer coupons but I know they do. Wal-mart cashiers were telling me it takes months for them to get anything back. The day I went there I used my flyers to match prices & I used a lot of coupons. I did get a lot of items free. The register stopped taking them and a manager had to come over and show the cashier what to do. The manager informed me that they don’t like to give away items free. I told them they do get their money back and that’s when they decided to tell me it takes months. Guess I am going to make Wal-Mart go out of business too. That will be the day!!!

    • lynn

save money save the planet there is a bogo coupon for vitimin water

    • david

has anyone ever tryed to use a exspired RR? i had two expire yesterday shame on me

      • Jenny

I have and the store refused to take it. Might depend on whether you know someone, but since they are manufacturer coupons they really aren’t supposed too :(

    • david

thanks jenny,,, did it beep or did they catch it by eye contact? i fill like kicking myself in the behind for this worked so hard to get those free RR with those bayre breese 2 coupons ,i bet i keep closer tabs on it now, oh by the way thanks for everything awsome sit

    • Erin

The normal price of similac at publix is 22.50 if you use the 2/1 q and the fl q the price will be 17.50 each! Just thought I would share!
Thank you so much for this website! I just started and have saved about 70% off of my grocery bills!

    • tonya

i have two rr that expire on 6/01/09. can i use them on that day or do i have to use them before the expiration date?

      • Jenny

You can use them on that day and they will work.

    • tonya

      thank you jenny!

    • Erin

I had the same issue at a Walgreens today. I did the Everpure shampoo & conditioner deal with 2 $2 coupons, and the RR wouldn’t print…even though I did the exact same transaction at a different store 3 miles away on Wednesday with no problems! The manager who came out to fix the problem said it was b/c I was using 2 coupons for 2 items, so it wouldn’t allow a third coupon to print (?). I explained that it worked just fine down the street a few days ago, and that he could return my items and I would give my WG business to the other store from now on. He then said he would show me how it would print if he just used 1 coupon…and what do you know…it STILL wouldn’t print! He felt pretty stupid and just offered to re-ring it up with the coupons and just took $5 off the price. Worked better so I don’t have to go back and fight the RR system, but it is interesting to see how inconsistent it works from one store to another!

    • I recently transfered an RX to cvs from Harris Teeter. All for nothing.
The price of the drug was more than twice the cost at HT. What did I learn?…………Price check first. Walgreen and Rite Aid seem to be compeditive to HT. cvs prices are significantly higher. BEWARE
