Scenarios

  • This is a hard week to try to make something good out of nothing, but I’ve come up with a money maker idea. If you don’t have the coupons needed for #1, that’s okay. Transaction #2 is a money maker all on it’s own, so if you start there that’s still a good deal. If you don’t need diapers then use your RR to buy paper towels, toilet paper, or other items that your household does need.

Do think this will work ? I need use my RR it expire today. I would love get Joint juice ,But my stores haven't had it in stock since day one.
  • Tammy
I'm fairly new to this coupon thing and decided to try one of the suggestions this morning at my local Walgreen:

    **Deal Idea**
Buy: (2) Crest Pro Health Rinse $3.50 ea
Use: (2) -$2 off Crest Pro Health
    Total Due: $3
Get Back: $2.50 RR, makes it 25¢ ea

After the transaction I didn't get my $2.50 RR so I questioned why. The Customer Service Manager came over and told me since I used manufactures coupons I didn't meet the amount to get the RR. Has anyone else had this problem? In the end he ended up giving my $2.50 in cash but said it would be the only time he would do it and I would have to read the fine print.
  • GingerinCA
I hope he showed you where in the fine print it says "Not valid with manufacturers' coupons" or "Must meet dollar amount X." Because it sure doesn't say that in my sale ad, so maybe he's the one who needs to learn to read the fine print. (Sorry, that kind of statement really gets my goat!) The fact is, some employees, when they don't know the answer, just take their best guess. If I were you, I would 1) email Walgreens and tell them about the problem, and 2) call the Catalina company and find out if they can send you the coupon, to which you are entitled.
  • Tammy
I appreciate the reply. I thought it sounded off, for I've been reading everyone's great comments about their experiences and it didn't sound right. I'll take your advice and notify the company about the ordeal. Thank you
  • samantha
On the deals like the Hershey's chocolate where it says get $5 rr if you buy $10, is that after all coupons? What if I pay for part of it with other register rewards? Does the total have to be $10 after everything?
  • jhoran
10.00 before q and do not use any rr from hershey, also you have to get a filler items to use rr's.
  • jennabows
hi ladies i have a question. on the bayer contour, i havetwo coupons. one that says buy a bayer contour or breeze get 20.00 off of the inserts. the other says get a free bayer contour when you purchase insterts. can you use them together for the bayer deal?
  • avenlee
Probably, but even with the 20.00 off of the test strips, you would be paying alot more and it wouldn't be a money maker. The test strips are what is expensive.
  • firstbrownie
Does anyone know if the Gillette and Venus razors RR are rolling again this week, like they were last week?
  • avenlee
They still rolled for me on Tuesday.
  • Snellmom
If I have one Bayer coupon, will they take the full $30 off if I purchase two meters? Anyone tried this?

Also, my ad had a $5 off in-ad 42ct Prevacid coupon. Combine that with the $4 off coupon that was in the paper on Sunday (main section of AJC) and do the rebate for the Prevacid purchase price minus the $4. You make $5 profit!
  • tammynelson
Anyone ever had this happen? I had 8 items and 8 coupons, it wouldn't take my last RR because I had a $1/2 coupon and the cashier and asst. manager said that coupon counts as 2 coupons because it is off of 2 items. The cashier also wouldn't let me give her my RR rewards first. Next time (if it's the same cashier) I just won't have my other coupons visible until after I give her the RR.
  • Delores
Next time grab some filler items (candy or pencils-something cheap) this will help with your coupons. It may take 1 or more filler items. After they ringup the filler item, tell them to try your rr again. If 1 doesn't work try another cheap item addition. hope this helps!
  • jhoran
    yes
  • Melanie
I am new to Walgreen's but have made such a difference in my buget by using this site I wanted to venture out. On my first trip I planned on buying 1 pack of Pampers diapers and i pack of Pampers Easy ups for $8.99 and using a $1.50 q on both. ($18 - $3 =$15 with each giving a $1 RR) Not a fabulous deal but a simple way to get started. I also planned on buying wipes which were advertised at $6.99 with a $1 RR in my insert, .50q on that too. So Trans. #2 would be $6.49- $2RR= $4.49 + $1 RR. Again simple right? So when I rang up the first trans. it only gave me 1 $1RR??? Then I decided to go ahead and try for the second trans. with just the $1RR. The cashier said he couldn't take a RR and a coupon because the RR were considered manuf. q. I knew that but thought I could still use both! So, frustrated only saving a dollar more than my trip to the grocery store I walked out with $1 RR because it didn't give me one for the wipes! What did I do wrong? Is there a company policy I can print out and take with me next time? HELP! I want to expand my savings addiction!
  • jhoran
    Melanie,
you might want to read some of the posts so you will get a better idea of how things work.
  • jhoran
    Melanie,
First off, you were only supposed to buy 1 pampers, then you would get the 1.rr. You would have needed to buy the other one in another transaction to get the other rr. The ad did not state buy 2. It was buy pampers or baby dry diapers, get 1 rr. Then, you made the mistake of using a rr for pampers to buy the pampers wipes. You cannot use the same manufactur rr to pay for the same item. Next, if you ever plan on using rr's, you need to buy a "filler" item (candy bar, etc, something real cheap) in order to use the rr. Just remember, the rr is a manufacturer q and and if you have 1 item and a q for it, you will need to also buy a filler to use the rr.
So go by this rule for manufacturer q and rr's - 1 item per q. Hope this helps.

I thought I saw somewhere that the Joint Juice was still printing $10 RR? Is the deal still active, or am I just crazy?
  • Delores
No, you're not crazy!! LOL. the Joint Juice is a month long deal! It tastes great btw!
  • TNT4Always
Hi where did you find the joint juice at in wags? i cant seem to find it in mine. Thanks
  • savysaver
Does anyone know if you can use your free olay bodywash with the olay $15 rebate? When I bought the venus embrace razor you get the body wash free. Just curious if that counts for 1 olay product because it is actualy rung up on the order and then taken off as a coupon amount at the end.
  • jhoran
    yes
  • Claudia
When do you update the walgreen's flyer and show the new deal scenarios. I am soooo impressed with what you do.
  • Claudia
When do you update the walgreen's flyer and deal scenarios to reflect the present week?
  • Amy
I'm so mad!! My walgreen's rang up my four nyquils and two puffs, and a soothe eye drop....should have gotten $12.50 back in RR. none came up, so I asked about it. She said I had to spend $20 after coupons for the nyquil and $7.99 after the soothe coupon. She called another girl over to confirm. She said they would be stupid to give me RR after I got so much off, and that is Walgreen's policy. I said that is not how CVS does it and she basically said they were stupid! I kept the stuff, since we will use it, but I will not go back there again. Will it help to email their corporate office? Two hours later and I'm still fuming!!
  • Wendy
I would return everything on that purchase and re-ring it with another cashier or go to another location. The RR deals are based on purchase totals before coupons. Sometimes it gets sticky if you pay using RRs from the same manufacturer that you are trying to get the current RR deal on; you will not get more Kimberly Clarke RRs (for example) if you pay on that deal with Kimberly Clarke RRs. Make sure your total coupon count (RRs + manufacturer coupons) equals the quantity of items you are buying. You cannot present more coupons (RRs count as coupons in this count...Wag store coupons in ads or booklets do not) than you have items on your purchase.

Hope that helps! By the way, If you were truly treated so rudely, I would definitely call and let the manager of the store know as well as the corporate customer service.
  • Amy
That does help Wendy, thanks for replying!! With that transaction, I didn't use any RR's because I haven't shopped there in ages. (now I know why haha!) I had four coupons for the nyquils (2 of 2 different ones) and then 2 boxes of puffs and the 2 coupons for free puffs. And the eyedrops and their coupon. I am still mad, but will wait til tomorrow to contact corporate. And the manager too, I guess. I will not be going back there again at all!! It was embarrassing, there were people behind me and they were acting like I was doing something wrong asking for the RRs! I did so well today @ CVS, Kroger & 2 Publixes, and then the Walgreens trip spoiled it all for me. Grrrr.
  • gingerinCA
Here you go, got the Catalina numbers:
    1-(888) 322-3814 or 1-888-8COUPON (1-888-826-8766).
  • amy
An update... the manager of Walgreens left a very condescending voice mail after I emailed Walgreens - she said she certainly didn't want me to feel duped or scammed, that if I had done everything I was supposed to I would have gotten them, but I was welcome to call back and let her go over it with me blah blah blah. It was so snotty that I didn't return her call, but I did call the Catalina company and they are investigating. The rep I spoke with was super nice, and he said it sounds as if I should have gotten them, and that of course you can use coupons for these, it's dependent on the amount before coupons!! He also said if you ever have a problem with a catalina to please email them at ncsc@catalinamarketing.com. I feel much better now, and will never ever shop the Buford (braselton hwy) walgreens again.:o)
  • gingerinCA
If you won't go back, why don't you try calling the Catalina company? I've never done it, but people on here say that the Catalina people can check to see if you were due RRs, and send them to you if you got ripped off. Don't remember the toll-free number for Catalina, though. Anyone?
  • Amy
Thanks Ginger - I will give them a call tomorrow too. I appreciate the numbers!

My son tried this, I think he forgot to show the coupon booklet and he got ripped off. I looked at the sales flyer and it looked like they were on sale for $19.99, but according to your site, I guess you need the Walgreens coupon. Since the Walgreens Feb book says it manuf, can you use it and the $7 off too? Or will it work, but need a filler item?? I'm so confused with this stuff
  • julie
I don't think you can use both coupons since the one in the booklet does say mfg. coupon. I am bumming, I was going to load up on some cheap whitening trays. Also, in all fairness to Walgreens, the ad clearly says they are 19.99 after using the in ad coupon.
  • savysaver
Can you use a coupon on an item that is free in the B1G1 sale???
  • Delores
Yes you can. Read my answer to carrie holder

For anyone in the Columbia,SC area I found some childrens activity books on the 50% clearance isle in a pile of coloring books.(the 24hr Walgreens on Hwy 1 near the new Chick-fil-a) Also, near the Pharamcy counter is a display of over the counter meds. It has a coupon for Tylenol $3/2 it worked for the childrens cold med which give you and extra $1 off vs the $1 off 1. Just to help those with little ones like myself.
  • kaseyelisabeth
Hi Penny! Have you ever used your RR to buy items to receive RR at that Columbia store? I have been told rudely by one of the employees at Walgreens in Forest Acres that you cannot do that. I was wondering if you have been successful doing this at the Hwy # 1 Walgreens?
  • carrieholder
ok i got a question on the walgreens ad they have smooth away hair remover buy one at 9.99 get one free ok i have a coupon for 1.50 off would i still get b1g1 free???????

how can I get this coupon? I went to the home solutions website (or what I thought was the site) and had no luck......do you have a link? Thanks!
  • Marsha
I had two of the $4 Air Wick coupons in the 2/7 Smart Source (one for the oil and one for the spray kits), these were both $3.99 at my store. They Lysol spray kit was on sale for $6.50 and there is a $5 coupon on this also in the 2/7 SS (the one with the chocolate cake on the front). Also all valentine candy 50% off
  • Where they on sale at?
  • MKHuntsville
Folgers has an in-ad coupon for instant coffee (regular or decaf 8oz) for $3.99. I purchased one today since this is my dh's favorite and unexpectedly received a register reward for $1! That makes the coffee $2.99. There is a limit of two. I wonder...if you buy two would you receive two $1 RRs?
  • Shandrika
    I bought two today & only one printed :{

My mom lives in WA state and is looking for a similar website that would help her with coupons. Anyone know of anything I could direct her to?
  • laura
    hi, http://www.thriftynorthwestmom.com/
there are others, try searching northwest coupons, savers, guide, blog, Washington, seattle etc.
I found a great one for my cousin in Portland, so I know there are more out there : )
  • hrichards
question, in transaction #2, if you owe $5.57, then why do you need to purchase the 10 cent filler item?
  • Allison
RR's are treated as manufacturer's coupons. You can't use more than one manufacturer's coupon per item, so in order to use the RR, you have to have a filler item. If the RR is greater than the cost of the filler item, the overage is applied to the rest of your purchase.
  • hinkle
What are the filler items for? Can you do the deal without bying those?
  • Guest
I was unable to get the discount for the Dove Deodorant(49 cents). I had the in-ad coupon for $2.40, but it excluded Dove Ultimate Clear.
So I took my coupon to Publix and got it for 99 cents.
-$2 off any Dove Ultimate printable
  • 3monkeysmom
I couldn't get the deodorant either. The coupon only excluded Ultimate Clear, I was trying to buy Ultimate Smooth. They still wouldn't take it. Also had to go back in, they overcharged me on the BOGO Lysol Wipes. The sticker on the package and the price on the shelf were both $3.49 but they all rang up for $3.89. The refunded the difference but seemed kind of annoyed about it. Still, all in all, a good Walgreens trip. I got 3 Airwick I-Motion plug-ins for free.
  • jhoran
Can you tell me what the deal was on the airwick. Don't recall seeing it listed this week. Thanks
  • 3monkeysmom
The AirWick I-Motion or Freshmatic and the Lysol Neutra Air Freshmatic were 50% off. That made the I-Motion plug-ins $3.99. I had (3) $4 coupons and (1) $3 coupon. So, 3 free, one 99 cents. Also got the Airwick Freshmatic for $2.49. Sale price on that was $7.49 and I had a a $5 coupon. Only problem is they have a very limited selection of fragrances. Everything I bought was lavender/vanilla.
  • jhoran
    Thanks for the tip.
  • janet5631
it specifically said ultimat4e clear was excluded, but i tried other ultimate deoderants, but NONE of the ultimates apply to the qpon for wags.

The Olay body washes are B1G1 50% at my Walgreens.
  • wolverinehokie
    I used this scenario today:
    Buy:
    (1) Venus Embrace Razor $8.99
    (2) Olay Ribbons Body Wash B1G1 50% off at $4.99
    Use:
-$2 off Venus Razor PG 2/07
Free Olay Body Wash PG 2/07
    (1) -$1 off Olay Wash RP 2/14
    Total Due: $8.49
    Get Back: $4 RR

If you do that twice and then Submit for $15 Olay Mail in Rebate, you'll make $6.
  • jhoran
    How about this scenario:
    1 venus embrace 8.99
    1 olay total effects 7 in 1 wash 9.99
    use:
    free olay wash
    (1) - $2 off razor
    total due: 6.99
    Get back: 4RR
    Cost: 2.99
Do 3 times ($15.00 rebate is for 3 items, not 2) makes them all free and you get 6.00 extra.
  • stefluvs2sign
    Even better:
Dove's man body wash 5.99 use $1.50 coupon get $6 RR Out of Pocket OOP= 4.91
Razor $8.99 use $4 coupon buy Dove's man body scrubber 5.99 use $6 RR OOP= $4.99 plus tax and get $4 RR

Go back get body wash use $1.50 coupon and $4 RR OOP= .49 plus tax get $6 RR
get razor use $ coupon and $6 RR and a small $2 item pay almost nothing and get $4 RR

    ETC keep rolling the deals
  • wolverinehokie
I think either way the total spent will be about $9. One way you get 2 razors and 4 body wash, the other 3 razors and 3 body wash which is probably the better deal.
  • jhoran
    You are so right! Thanks
  • Hesperides
I have had some good luck at my Walgreens for the most part. The cosmetics lady is very nice and splits up transactions. Apparently if you buy 2 of something that qualifies for RR, you only get 1 RR. So she splits it for me so I get the 2 RRs. I have had bad luck, however, on using RR and getting RR after. So I have been spending the RRs on things I need, like lip gloss, etc. I've had better luck here than at CVS (ours is a hole in the wall, rarely stocked with the good stuff).
  • pnew
    nevermind, misread the post
  • wolverinehokie
I found this in a slightly obscure place and thought I'd mention it for people who haven't found it elsewhere, RR can be used at the grocery store. I successfully used them at Publix and Winn Dixie this week. No more filler items for me!
  • stefluvs2sign
Yes because RR are MANUFACTURER COUPONS they can be used anywhere. You may need to call a manager and have them call corporate while you are standing there but they must take them. We take our RR and buy groceries for free at Publix! Note on each RR there is the address so that the store will get reimbursed and each RR is from a diff company such as Unilever, P&G, Mars, etc...
  • Shandrika
I knew that Publix took them, but I did not know Winn Dixie would. If you don't mind my asking, what state were you able to do this in? I am in Alabama. Thanks!!
  • stefluvs2sign
    Florida
  • wolverinehokie
    I live in Florida
  • nuworldchick
I also live in Florida, Daytona Beach, to be exact and my Publix refused to take the register rewards as they dont consider Walgreens to be a competitor (must be a grocery store).. You are a lucky duck!Did your stores take them as a manufacture coupon?
  • stefluvs2sign
Call the district manager or corp and tell them to notify your location to accept them, they will.
  • tonja
Hey.. I am in Daytona too... :) and if u go to the Trails Publix in Ormond they will take RR too.. Now our WD wont.. also the Publix on Ridgewood in Holly HIll takes them too. with no problem.
  • Linda
The publix in South Daytona takes the RR also.
  • wolverinehokie
They actually didn't say. The girl checking me out didn't question it, she just scanned it as a coupon and it worked. I used 4 $1 RR at Publix, but I happened to have 4 items I didn't already have a coupon for so I don't know if they could have been used in addition to other coupons. Like I don't know if I bought 1 item with a coupon if I'd be able to use the RR too. The Winn Dixie girl didn't question using the RR either. We went with the "go to the young girl" strategy. I've previously been told at Publix that they don't consider Walgreens a competitor so I'm guessing it counted as a manufacturer coupon.
  • stefluvs2sign
They are not COMPETITOR coupons they say right on them Manufacturer coupons redeemable at walgreens...I was given a hard time once and pulled out a Snickers manufacturer coupon that said redeemable at Publix (from the Sunday RP or SS) and I said so does this mean I can only use this here and not at Walmart? That shut them up!
  • drcmetzger
    Gillette Fusion 6ct or larger cartridges coupon P&G 1/17/10 $3 off 1
  • stefluvs2sign
Downside is they cost over $22 at the store!
  • stephljones
I went today to the Walgreens in Indian Trail, NC...Tracie at the cosmetics counter was so very patient and helpful...even doing a return to help me maximize my RR's and coupons. Note: It really pays to start out on a positive note...and ask for their help...and be very thankful for their assistance.

I have sent a note on the company website thanking her for her wonderful job!
  • momma2mmc
That Wags is a great one! I've been very happy with the employees!
