If you get e-mail promotions from Staples, you can use the 50% off Scotch tape coupon they e-mailed this morning for the $5 3-pack of Scotch Moving & Storage tape (making it $2.50).  Great price since it was originally $13!

    • theycallmesupermom

i think that watching for places that price match is a Fabulous way to keep driving waste (time, fuel, pollution) to a minimum when doing couponing and sales watching. Thanks for pointing out that Target does it too. I did not know that and prefer Target to Walmart

also, I am now following you from blogfrog…you can find me at All Things Purple community or my blog:
      http://iheartpurplestuff.blogs

      • Dee

i've been trying to see where it says that target will price match.  can you point me in the right direction?

        thanks!

        • Angela

Sometimes it's in their weekly ad, sometimes it's not.  But it is corporate policy.  You just have to price-match at Customer Service and you do not get an additional 5% off for using your Target Visa on price-match items.

    • Dew_drop_fairy76

My Walgreens also has Paper Mate mechanical pencils on sale for $0.19/ea. for a 5 pack. I just picked up 5 packs! They also have mini highlighters on sale for $0.09/ea. Some great bargains!

    • Gypsymclanahan

Well I don't know what the deal is with my Walmart but they are saying that they do not price match school suppies even when the ad in the circuliar clearly says that they do!!!! So much for Walmarts motto of “No one beats our price or we will match it.' I am sooo mad right now!!!

      • SMF

Sorry to here that. I went to my local Wal-Mart in the meto Atlanta area and they matched prices for all itmes at Office Max, Office Depot and Staples (except for the one cents deal)!! Did you talk with the manager?

        • Raynesmw

It does have to be the same brand. I took the K-mart ad to Walmart this am, and they did limit the limit of 4 crayons per order, but they rang them up for 25 cents each.

        • Sarah

So, WM won't price match the one cent deals?  Why not?

      • Kim N.

They usually don't price match unless the brand is exactly the same. So, Crayola for Crayola? Sure. Store brand for store brand? Usually not.

      • i had the same issue it took 4 cashiers and a CSM to give me 1000 reasons why they couldnt do it i had the policy on hand  and made a big stink and was told “you people always try to take advantage of the system” not sure what they ment by you people but ill be driving all over town next week to get my deals. Really walmart?

    • Tracey

At Office Max they have coupons for $5 off the purchase of any three Sharpie or Expo products (Limit one per transaction).  I bought three Expo 4 pk. markers $2.50 each and use the coupon and paid $2.50 for 3 (Did this 4 times, I had my husband and 2 kids each with a basket full of the $.01 paper, $.25 binder pockets and the expo markers). I thought that was an awesome deal since they are regularly priced everywhere else for almost $4 each. My kids classes will be stocked up on these this year.

      • Tracey

The coupons are located on the Sharpie and Expo displays in the front of the store.

    • Tchnkds

This info could be wrong, but I heard from the Staples cashier that paper prong folders will be 1 cent Sunday, 7/24.

    • Kelleyharold

I went to Office Max this morning and they had up signs about the Hammermill paper.  Apparently there was a misprint in the ad.  It's supposed to be $7.49 and you get back $6.49 in MaxPerks rewards.  You still end up paying $1 but a little more tax up front on the higher amount.  I thought it was strange because the shelf price tag said $6.99 so they hadn't even changed that!  They also had up signs that said it was limit “x” per HOUSEHOLD now instead of per person specifically on the notebook filler paper that is 1 cent.

    • rose

Just got back from Staples and got wide rule and college rule paper for 25 cents.

    • Huntsville Mom

Scotch scissors at Publix will not work with either coupon listed.  They are both specifically for adult scissor and even say “not valid on scotch brand kids scissors.”  Just FYI in case you were trying to get free scissors from publix.  :(

    • Wwkkss07

I printed a coupon almost 2 months ago for the washable expo markers…and I am very glad I did!  I went to Walgreens and got 2 packs of 6 each for $5.99 minus the store $3 coupon on each and my two $2 manufacturers coupons…so I paid $0.99 each plus tax!  As a teaching major…this is great!

      • cindharb

I had a pretty weird experience with the Expo marker coupon, at Office Depot.  I gave the cashier the coupon, she scanned it, it beeped approvingly, and I went home with the stuff.  Foolishly waiting till days later to look at the receipt, I see no evidence of the $2 having come off.  Grrr, should have looked right there and dealt with it!  Shame on me; I know you have to watch every step of these transactions like a hawk.

    • Trisha

Office Depot has 3 prong folders 10 for $1 (limit 10) and notebook filler paper (150 ct) for 25 cents each (limit 5).

    • Nybarradamian

Just went to target got 4 scotch tapes, 2 patermate pens packs, 2 sharpie marker packs, 2 sharpie highlighter packs, 4 bengay & 2 books only paid $1.27. I saved
      $28.58!

      • Kimberly_paschal

awesome! is your target having to change the price on the coupons? I went with $1 off scotch tape coupon and the $5 off bengay and the woman said that they have to change the coupon to the price of the item if its lower than the coupon value…so I was shorted…even though my total wasnt in the negative before taxes. I've never had that happen before, how can we “make” money on the coupons if they do that! lol

    • Dtcox

in v a krogers the bic pens are on sale for .79 pk of 10 use the 1.00 off two i got four pks for 1.16  great to have any time to use are give with gifts thanks jenny

    • Amanda

Office Depot had some pretty decent deals this morning on filler paper, folders and crayons.  Somehow the didn't make the list, though.  I used my rewards this morning and got lots of free supplies!

      • Sgermansaves

Yes …you can buy filler paper for $0.25 (limit 5); 24 ct crayola crayons for $0.25 (limit 5); 10 pocket folders for $1 and much more.

        • Hsasin

          Where at?

          • Joanne

            Office Depot

    • Wal-Mart has 1 subject notebooks for $0.20 – wide or college ruled.

    • Hsasin

HG Hills paper is 2 for a dollar.

    • Crysmail

Staples waves limits for educators.  Just take school ID.

    • BD4

Fl Staples doesn't have .01 items this week- does anyone know if they are for next weeks ad or we just miss out?

      • Monica

        They had them in SC

      • Km

They have them in Port charlotte,fl

    • Gomama118

How likely is it that last year's deals will come around again?  For example, I'm pretty sure I got Expo dry erase markers free after rebate at Office Depot.  My daughter is going into first grade so this is only my second year doing this, and I'm not sure how long I should be waiting to get the best deals.

    • Sharon

Thank you for this list….it was all soooooo confusing.

    • Saving in NE GA

The Crazy Art crayons were 0.19 cents a box for 24 at my Walmart in Toccoa, GA

    • Bcr8ve

If you're shopping at Target, make sure you get the Mead poly folders. Check the stickers on the folders. The store in GSO (New Garden S/C) had Fine Line poly folders in the Mead 50 cent bin, and I didn't realize I had the wrong ones until after I got home and found I was charged 75 cents each instead of 50.

    • B Brown04

Just an fyi…at my Walgreens in Summerville, SC the filler paper was not $.39. This was actually for notebooks (I think 1 or 2 subjects).

    • Jade

My bic pens coupons, printed up funny looking. WalMart refused to price match, with Target.  Anybody else??

    • Becky Dukes

I spent $47 at Walmart, Walgreens, and Office Max this week for pretty much everything my 2 children will need for back to school supplies. I saved $112. I have never spent less than $25 per child in the 13 years my kids have been in school. Thanks for all the tips and the guidance!

    • Betty

I went to Staples today w/my list & found out my Staples in Port Charlotte had a different ad but the manager was nice & met the prices for me.
