CVS pharmacy

Two weeks ago I got the thrill of heading to New York City for Blogher ’12.  I am truly a southern country girl, so anything NY is out of my element, but I held up okay. Okay I may have cried once, but that was only because I had a long walk with heavy bags and I’m pregnant.  Seriously though it was a lot of fun to see bloggers from around the US in person and to hear Martha Stewart and Katie Couric speak.

I really couldn’t have done the trip without great sponsors, one of which was CVS/pharmacy.  While I was there they gave me the “difficult” task of asking bloggers what they love about CVS/pharmacy.  There is really nothing difficult about that, other than the long answers most would give because they love them A LOT.  I know most of you agree.

The top answers I heard were:

1.  They are not only the closest to my house, but also the nicest to shop at.
2.  Their reward system is the easiest to understand.
3.  Love their rain check policies.
4.  Like how responsive corporate is.

I know as local CVS shoppers you may not deal with CVS/pharmacy corporate very often, but for me the #4 answer is actually my top reason for loving CVS.  Whenever y’all email with a question on new policies or something I’ve not seen before it takes maybe an hour and I have an answer.  They are eager to hear feedback when deals don’t work right or ads are too confusing.  They are also eager to interact with shoppers directly and have an incredibly active twitter and facebook page, where many stores haven’t even begun thinking about social media yet.

What do you love most about CVS/pharmacy?

    • crazy4cvs

I love the employees. They are all great and ready to offer any help I need or answer any questions. Great employees make for a great store!!

    • Mcleodsc

It is much easier to understand than WAGS. Even on a week that the sales are terrible, I usually still find a deal by combining a CVS cpn with a mfg. cpn.

    • Reasons #2 and #4!

    • Grannypig12001

The CVS here in Lexington, NC us super. I have never had a problem here. The employees are ALL friendly. The manager goes out of his way to help me out… Such a great store to shop at. I only had one dealing with the corp office and I did not like the way they wanted to handle it and it was not about the Lexington store.. Anyway CVS is the greatest..

I love the new Extracare section of their website.  I can see exactly what will print for me instead of having to stop by the machine every week.  I’m a long time shopper, so I don’t always get the “premium” coupons and having to stop on a week when I’m not spending used to be a hassle.  I also love that I can refill prescriptions online.  This week, I personally was called and offered an inventive to remain a customer when I had attempted to transfer a prescription to cash in on a competitor’s promotion.  Love that personal touch.  Plus…who doesn’t loving shopping at CVS on BLACK FRIDAY! :)

      • Mfshore81

ooohhh! really??! awesome, i need to go check that out!

I like a straight forward what you see is what you get coupon policy. I have become so frustrated with Walgreens & Rite Aid that I don’t even shop those places anymore except for walgreens photo machine (they have the best quality pics & deals). There are no surprises at the register at CVS & so many ways to earn extracare bucks like quarterly print outs, the beauty club, & the recycle bag tag.  Plus, lately, the fabulous red machine has been printing 20-30% off coupons for me too. There really is no reason to go to the other drug stores for me.

I love that they are on Viggle. I have used at least 3 gift cards so far this year just for watching tv.

I’m a nurse and one thanksgiving, I spent hours trying to find a medication in order to discharge a young child with a heart condition in order to go see her family for thanksgiving….most pharmacies were either out or wouldn’t fill the prescription because the patient was trying to pick it up near her grandmothers to spend thanksgiving there.  A CVS tech not only worked out finding the medication for me….but when she found it at a CVS that was going to be an extra 10 minutes for the patient …..she went over  AND PICKED IT UP so the patient could come get it at their store and be with her family sooner!! WHAT A SELFLESS thing to do for someone else!! and when i wrote corporate and told them, they responded to me that they would see the atthe  tech recieved praise/recognition! LOVE CVS

    • I love CVS even more for sponsoring your BlogHer trip to NYC. Thanks to you and your weekly CVS posts I shop (and save) there. Kudos to them for recognizing how valuable you are!

    • Shannonc

I love CVS because they have made it possible for me to have great products for less. Thanks CVS your the best!

Extra Care Bucks is an awesome program and the associates are nice and helpful!

    • Rachel

Didn’t know how wonderful CVS was until I found your site and found out about Extra Bucks!  I used to think it was overpriced…boy was I wrong!  I will say that I hate to see another customer in front of me pay for something I got FREE two weeks ago!  But some people just will not hear of it!  My sister is one of them…CVS I love everything about u!

    • JLSC Coupons

ECB!  So easy to understand and the only drug store I deal with.  And my favorite CVS in my area just started accepting all competitor’s coupons!  I don’t know if that is a corporate policy or just my area – but I’ll take it!  Thank you CVS!!

    • Cmccurry

I love the extra bucks. It is a great place to get household,  health & beauty products. You also get extra bucks each quarter based on how much you spend, that’s free money if you shop there. They are very helpful.

    • Emily Amberson

Their ECB program is the best incentive program around! Plus, I like that they understand that just because I’m using a coupon and getting something for free or almost free doesn’t mean I’m “stealing” from them. They do a good job of making sure that their employees in the stores understand that as well and aren’t rude or abusive to folks with coupons.

    • Patti B

I love their rewards program and that they love to put this on clearance!

    • Susan

Very close to me house; very willing to be helpful; easy to use ECB; great sales!

    • Dixiegirlinafrica05

I wouldn’t know where to even begin!  Let’s just say I have THE best CVS Pharmacy EVER!!  My Manager even gave me a Dunkin Donut’s Boston Cream Donut (my favorite) one day.  I think I’m (one of) their favorite customer. :-) j/k

    • rpwade8

There are so many things to love about CVS!  My top reasons for loving CVS:

      (1) They’re incredibly convenient.  There are 3 stores within 10 minutes of my house in Huntersville, NC.
      (2) The ECB deals are easy to understand and a great way to save money.
      (3) The CVS closest to me has a 24-hour-pharmacy, which I’ve learned is invaluable with a toddler who likes to get sick on weekends!

I used to go to Walgreens, too, but now CVS is the only drug store I go to.  I’m in the process of transferring all of my prescriptions over from Walgreens.  :o)

    • Meegan

Their workerbees (with rare exception) really appear to enjoy their jobs.  They are always super friendly and helpful, cheering you on with your coupon savings.

    • Sis2

I just read all the comments and can agree to all of those things already mentioned.  But I didn’t see the green bag tag mentioned and I love that also so thought I would mention it.

    • Shem61

I love the extrabucks, 25% off coupons sent by email, and green tag for bringing your own bag. Also, I like the $10 gas card offers for purchasing special merchandise.

    • ireneY

CVS is doing it right — customer service, ECBs that’s easy to use and great sales every week. They have left Rite Aid and Walgreens in the dust!

    • Cedenf

Some people may not like this, but I really like that they put limits on how many of each deal you can get.  Because of the limits, I rarely walk up to buy the 1 or 2 items I need and find the shelves cleared.  I have quit with other pharmacies because of not being able to get the sale items I wanted.

    • Susie

I love the magical red coupon machine. You never know what you’ll get that will pair with a manufacturer Q and ECB deals. It seems there’s always something, kind of like a little gift. At store level, the employees are always friendly, happy to see you, and don’t care if you’re paying with coupons. :)

    • J4kaye7321

I love that you can stack coupons and while doing so, can also earn rewards on the RETAIL price.    I love that they are not as strict as Walgreens with coupons having to match number of items purchased (hate buying fillers at Walgreens), I love their deals, and I love that they track how much you have bought towards a deal, and have a month to et the deal.  Lastly, I love the rain check policy.  I hardly ever shop at Walgreens anymore…

    • Lea

I love ECB, which I call my CVS money..l love that I can stack coupons, their rain checks are divine, and yes their rewards program is simple, easy to understand. Lately, I’ve fallen in love with their red coupon machine, sometimes I stop in just to scan my card and see what I get! LOL!

    • Acmurphy

CVS just gets it!  They know that if they offer consumers perks for shopping in their stores, they will make more money in the long run.  Sure, I love rolling my ECBs as much as the next gal and getting stuff for free.  But, because of how wonderful they are to work with, how convenient and nice they are, they also get all my prescription business and if I just have to have an item and CVS carries it for a similar price, I will pick it up there, even at full price rather than buying it as part of my grocery run so that my quarterly total will be higher and impact my quarterly ECBs.  So, they get my full-priced buisness too!

    • Leigh

I love CVS – The ECB’s – the fact that when I go to get my daughter’s meds they always check first to be sure they have it onhand and they have it ready when they say they will.  The way the employees are glad to help with how coupons/ecbs, etc work – they are always friendly and helpful – CVS is just wonderful!

    • Gamblesonsfarms

I LOVE CVS! Love the coupon center, $ off emails, beauty club, coupon policy of using 2 coupons on B1G1 sales,  employees who know their coupon policy, ease of using ECBs just like cash, month long expiration for ECBs, no exp. on rain checks, & most of the time have sufficient stock.

The staff at my CVS get just as excited as I do to see my balance due get smaller and smaller with each coupon! The manager alerts me to any special deals when he sees me come in. The store is always orderly and the sale tags are always up by Sunday morning. I get a thrill using the coupon machine every time I go in hoping to get a great deal and their rain check policy is great

    • daytondoll

I love my CVS employees.  They are friendly and helpful!  I have quit buying from other drug stores in my area because of rude employees!

    • 1Mom2two

I teach high school and I work part time at CVS. Why? Because I love it. I really enjoy all the comments about friendly employees and you guys are right. We are. My manager tells us to make that customer happy and bend the rules when necessary ( as long as it’s ethical and legal, of course) so, we do. We take expired manufacture coupons and extra bucks ( within the same week as expiration date) and we go that extra mile to make you happy. A couple of weeks ago I had a lady come in to western union her son some money for baby diapers. It was 10 minutes till close, and she had never used western union. I showed her what to do and she came to the register to finish the process. She had a debit card and you can’t use a debit card on western union transactions. I told her she could go to the ATM and get the cash and I would wait on her. She was sending 40$. She went to the ATM and could not get the money b/c you have to take out multiples of 20$ and she only had 58$ in the bank. She needed 45$ to cover the fee associated with sending the money. She was devastated. I told her to go the 40$ out and I would let her borrow the 5$ to send it and she could come back the next day after she got paid and pay me back. She sent her money and came back and left 20$ for me for helping her out. That’s why were the best b/c we see a need and we fulfill it. I also get a 20% discount on stuff in the store and a 30% discount on cvs brand stuff. Once every couple of months they give us an extra 20% off that adds to the discount we already have making it 40 or 50%…… wow, that is some crazy savings. So they treat us too.

    • Shweird

I love how you can match a CVS coupon with a manufacturer and get stuff cheap or even free and the 20, 25, or 30% that get emailed to you is great because you can create your own sale to match up a coupon with and not even have to fool with watching any sale papers.  These percentages off are awesome for baby formula!!!!

    • Shweird

Oh I forgot about Black Friday.  I got so much free stuff!  I even got a rocking horse for my newborn son (he won’t use it til he’s 3) for free and over a hundred dollars worth of products to boot (for free)!

    • Asmith

I love my CVS because of the employees. They are always helpful and polite.
They make you feel like a welcomed customer. They are also great with rainchecks. ECB are easy to use and understand.
That is why when I do have a sick child or husband I just go to CVS with or without a coupon.

    • Couponlovinglisa

I love that I have other options available to me. My Villa Rica Ga store NEVER has enough stock to cover more than two or three coupon shoppers, This store is a 24 hour location so when the sale starts Saturday night at midnight all the deals are gone in minutes. Some items never show up and other raincheck items take weeks and even months to show up. After 3 years of couponing I seldom bother to waste my time. Sorry for having no humor.

      • Cy

I understand, Couponlovinglisa. CVS was my go-to drugstore for years, but continuing unprofessional behavior finally drove me to a competitor. Annoyances include employees’ poor coupon knowledge, inconsistent enforcement of vague/ever-changing in-store policies and reluctance/refusal to honor promotions that produce “too good” of a deal if, for instance, your ExtraBucks don’t print or you request a rain check. Corporate also isn’t discrete when notifying employees of problems that customers report. So, if you ever contact CVS corporate about a bad experience at a store, be prepared for negative attitudes when you visit later. Would be nice if corporate would transfer some of the friendly and competent employees from the locations people are gushing about here to my neck of the woods in MA.

    • Zelda

I love cvs because they are coupon friendly!!! The employees are friendly and go out of their way to make sure you have a wonderful shopping experience. If there isn’t a product on the shelf…they will order it or call another store to find it! LOVE CVS!!!

    • cvslady

I love that the employees always greet me with a genuine smile.  The manager remembers me, knows that I get everything for practically free, yet he treats me like one of his best customers.  You can tell when a company is well run because their employees are happy people.  I love my Devine Street (Columbia, SC) store!

I love CVS the managers and workers don’t mind us “crazy coupon” shoppers they are more like family then a store. If something doesn’t work they fix it fast and quietly without making a scene. The one thing I wish they could fix is when I lost my card I can’t get the same number its really confusing when I still have e-mails coming.

Not only do they not mind crazy couponers, they can spot newbies and help them find the best way to save. At first, I thought this was odd, but what a way to get repeat business!

    • Kimberly

I love CVS for many reasons.  At my store everyone knows me and smiles and asks how I am doing when I go in each week.  They dont mind if I have several transactions and a huge coupon stack.  They dont mind giving a raincheck if they are out of something.  And I love their rewards system and the fact that I can use all my ecb at once as long as I am spending that amount of money.

EVERYTHING. Everything you said. They seem to truly value customer service, which is dead in most companies. I try to reward them for it by shopping there often.
