Turns out Kroger/General Mills didn’t like us knowing that they are having a great sale in a few weeks.  So for anyone who missed it, you will have to wait to find out.  They only want you to be excited about shopping on the day the sale starts.  Funny…

I will pick a winner and email the winner now, but will not post the winner or information about the sale again until the day before when the ad is posted.

If you missed the post, the only tip I will give you is go and print and gather General Mills coupons.

    • Amanda

      wow that was fast!

    • Sarah

      Darn it I missed it . I would love an e-mail . PLease :)

    • amy

Can’t wait to see what it is!!!!

    • Chandalee

I have no coupons on coupons.com. Is anyone else having this problem?

    • Chandalee

Disregard! They are back up now!! :)

    • I never understand this. Why don’t companies want you to get excited about a great upcoming deal? That is so weird.

    • Elena

      Pick me :)

    • The only thing I can come up with is that if we see advance ads/deals we wait until that ad week to purchase, driving their sales down for the prior weeks to the “good” sale.kwim? But who really knows why these companies do what they do!

    • Val

Well I am still excited about it, and my nearest Kroger is 20 miles away. That would totally be worth the trip with great savings. Jenny you are a life saver. I found out about your site from a woman at the grocery store and have been hooked ever since. My husband is also impressed with the savings. We are trying to pay our credit card off and the savings at the grocery store are helping us do that faster.

    • Sharon

Boo, hiss!!! Shame on them! You rock, Jenny!

I’m telling all my school co-workers about the sale so we can get the Box Tops from the General Mills products.

    • Kam

Maybe this sale will help redeem Kroger in my eyes. I was very disappointed by their last 2 sales. They didn’t have anything on sale on the shelves and didn’t restock. Several things also didn’t ring up for the sale price. Until then I’m sticking with Publix.

    • Anyone want to share in an email what the deal is?? nicolemaxwell@kw.com

    • deanna

Holy Smokes there are a lot of coupons that could be printed. Can you give us a little hint what ones we might want to print?

    • Amy B.

Sorry about what you have to through just to help a store advertise their sale to the masses! I wish these corporations were more thankful for the deal hunting bloggers that bring them so much business and get people excited about going to their store. Who do they really think they are hiding the sale from? lol

    • Stacy K

      Nice.

    • I’m with the others. I’d think they would want you to know what is coming up. But I understand a little. They don’t want us going berserk with our coupons..maybe?
      Thanks for the tip Jenny!

    • Erin

That’s soooooo crazy! I live MORE than a few miles from any Kroger and it’s takes a while for me to get things together for my once a week shopping trip! I DID see the post, so I’ll start my “clipping” now. Thanks for everything you do Jenny. I find myself begging my friends and family to check out the website!

    • Lyndsey

I caught a glimpse of your posting yesterday, but had planned on looking at it today to start getting coupons. :(

    • Hey, I luckily caught the posting earlier today before it was taken down, if you would like me to e-mail you some info let me know. My e-mail address is mandasparkles7@aol.com

    • They are afraid of other stores undercutting their sale. I went on a Tuesday a few weeks ago to a Tom Thumb to ask the manager for an “advance” (1 day, and it was about 5 pm) copy of the sales flyer for the sale that started the next morning. He told me he couldn’t do it, then he finally “snuck” me into his back office area and folded, very small, a sales paper and put it in my bag, and said “you’re sure you aren’t going over to Kroger with this, right?” He said, he could be fired for doing it, because the other stores could beat his sales!

    • gretchen

How bizarre! And who emails you exactly, ordering you to take down your list? I wonder how other sites ‘get away with it?”

    • Mina

Oh, how funny! I know I didn’t win, because I didn’t get an email. :-)

There are lots of reasons that stores don’t like to give out details early. Part of them have to do with competition with other stores, but they also don’t want to lose current sales by having shoppers delay their shopping because of advance notice of better prices.

Also, go ahead and print your coupons because if the ones you print are for items that you would purchase, you will have them on hand for whichever store in your area puts them on sale.

      P.S. There’s a typo in the title; it’s “disappearing”.

    • sarah

Seriously, I did not check in on one day over the last several months and now I can’t find out what all the hoopla is since the post had to be taken down….boo:( Can anyone email it to me?

    • CJ

I’m just starting this whole way of life. I’m amazed at how much comfort it gives to have a bit of control to save while my husband is layed off of work. Thanks, Jenny, for all your hard work!

    • Mina

Sarah, you could try to Google for the archive. Things don’t really disappear from the net. They just become more challenging to locate.

    • Brandy

I live so far from Kroger that I have to shop there on my lunch break at work, so I only have about 30 minutes to get my shopping done. (15 there and 15 bac to work). It would be nice to know ahead of time so that I could prepare. Thanks!

    • You mean a list that MAY include; Sobe, General Mills, Starbucks, Cascadian Farms cereal and bars, Dole Juice, and Old El Paso? I wish I could remember more, sorry, but thanks so much for the heads up!

      Commenters lists are not banned are they (;

    • And Green Giant

    • Amy

Google “General mills” and Kroger with site:southernsavers.com and then click on the “cached” page for the posting on August 3. Thanks Jenny for such a helpful website!

    • Michelle

can anyone tell me about the FUEL FOR SCHOOLS REBATE.It asks to send receit and UPS codes.Does this mean i have to cut the codes off the boxes.

    • amy

You can look up the rebate details on the kelloggs site and click on fuel for school and download a form. Yes you must cut the UPC code and circle on your receipt the stuff you bought for this rebate and it can only be on one receipt…no multiple transactions
