YUCK! Won’t be going there this week!

    • Hmm.  Yet another disappointing week.  It’s like they aren’t even trying to compete anymore. :/

    • Ashley

food lion is awful!…the only reason I step foot in there is to check out the reduced meat

      • Carla

Wow really….you would go there for their reduced meats?  Is it worth it?  I’d rather go some place else for my meats.  Warehouse are great if you have the membership.  I usually stock up/freeze and not have to shop for meats often.

        • Ashley

I live within walking distance of food lion and am not fortunate enough to have a sam’s membership.

        • Brooke

i also go to foodlion just for meat, they have fresh chicken breast, tenderloins and ground beef on sale ALL the time. I have noticed that my foodlion will have them on sale even when it is not listed in the ad.

    • Kimberlyflem26

      Booooooooooooooooooooooo!

    • Cristy

sad part about it is that is all that is close to me!!

    • Julia

BEWARE:  I went shopping at Food Lion and saw  Food Lion brand Chicken breasts on sale Byone get one Free with Bonus card limit 2 free bags per customer.  This bag of Chicken Breast is 1/2 pound less than what you would buy at Wal Mart for $6.48 or Aldi’s for $5.88.  I thought that was a great deal.  However when i went to check out i had issues with the clerk on other coupon issues and overlooked the chicken special until i go home. I was charged $50.00 for 4 bags of chicken and then half was taken off to charge $6.50 per bag and i ended up paying for all 4 bags.  I went back to the store and back to the place i bought the bags of Chicken and in very very small print it said that one bag of chicken was $12.50.  What a rip off.. i mentioned it to customer service folks and all they could say was they don’t control the prices only corporate…
Thanks from shopper in South Carolina..

      • Margoren

They have been doing that for a long time. I never get my chicken there. My Target has the frozen chicken cheaper than walmart. It is less than $6.

      • Anonymous

I went to FL a good while back when they had BOGO shrimp and the cost per bag was astronomical!  I could buy same size bag at Walmart at regular price for about 1/3 or 1/4 of the FL price.  So I’ve learned to ignored FL’s BOGO meat sales.

    • Darla

That’s some decent prices on the canned dog and cat food.  I may go by there tomorrow to stock up for my pet’s treat nights.

    • Qponcrazy

How does $1/2 Arm & Hammer @ 4.99 BOGO come out to $1.74 each? Wouldn’t that be $1.99 each?

      • Kelambertjunk

Her Math was off as far as I can tell!

    • Jules

Nothing very exciting this week. I’m probably not going to shop there as much anymore now that I’m couponing since they don’t double coupon. I emailed them to ask them if they would start doubling, and there answer was

“Double off coupons are not used simply because we do not have the extra profit built in to honor them. We feel our customers are better served with lower prices rather than higher prices and double coupons. We much prefer that our customers purchase products of their choice at a fair price.”

Mhhmmm, well I started keeping track of prices too so time will tell if what I buy most is cheaper there, my thinking is the answer will be No!

The store I shop at that does double is a little farther away so I will be paying more in gas, but I’m hoping once I get better at this couponing stuff it won’t matter.

      Happy clipping!

      • Priest5580

The food lion in Conyers, Ga doubles coupons up to .60

      • BoxerMom

Yeah I don’t shop there much either. I do like that they are the only grocery store around my area that will mark down their meats before they expire. I usually can find great deals on roasts that I just freeze till I’m ready to throw them in the crockpot

      • Jenni P.

Interesting that this is what they think of the people in YOUR area (and mine), meanwhile they DO double in other areas…. And to think they claim that customers would rather have barely lower regular prices than slightly higher ones , but double coupons available – MEANwhile, they have run gimmick after gimmick (scratch-off tickets, in which no one ever won the top prize, for instance). Food Lion corporate has been feeding people a lot of lines for a long time now. I barely even shop there, even though they are just 4 minutes away.

      • Claire

I think it really varies.  Their prices are generally lower on most things compared to Harris Teeter (for example), so saving the extra 50 cents on a doubled coupon is already covered by the price being 50 cents or more lower in the first place.

I just watch the ads really carefully and buy certain things from FL, certain things from HT and then certain things from Aldi or Walmart.  I do try, though, to not drive myself crazy by shopping 4 stores in a week!  I probably go to 2 and then stock up on the best deals.

        • Wethedeans

I always bring in flyers from other stores (keep them in my purse) so I can price match if necessary. It’s worth the extra 5 minutes to whip out your flyers!

    • Slynn01

I also believe you can use the  -$1 off Birds Eye Voila meals, family size printable on the Birds Eye Voila, 21-23 oz, B1G1 at $4.99 ($2.49) making it 1.49 which is a really good deal!

    • Anonymous

The SS 7/24 Arm and Hammer coupon expired 9/15 so you’ll have to use the later one.

    • Carrie

There is also a Cheez Its coupon in Red Plum 9/18 (Virginia). It’s $1/2.

    • Wethedeans

What I did: I needed wet cat food and went with the home store 360 brand because they are giving the catalinas for cash for number of store brand items bought. I started with the 20 cans for 8.00 and change, then went back to get 13 more cans with the free catalinas, then got more free catalinas each time I went back. I think I did 6 or 7 total turnaround trips with a very understanding cashier who held my purchases at his register. The store wasn’t busy. All in all I got 53 cans of cat food for around 10.00 ( because I paid tax with each purchase) , bottom line 53 cans cat food for 19 cents apiece! Happy day! My cats are finicky, too. They love this cat food.
