This week was Flu week as our house.  The fun started with one kid Sunday and then by the end of the week engulfed everyone.  So our shopping was sporadic.  I made it to Kroger but didn’t save as much as I wanted once I stocked up Pedialyte and a few splurges for the sickies.

The highlight of my week was when the Puffs Tissues PR department sent me a well timed Flu & Cold Kit with a free box of tissues!  How did they know that we needed them this week??

Kroger:
Total Before Sales and Coupons: $106.85
Total Spent: $66.70
Total Saved: $40.15 or 37.5%

I had hopes of making it to the drugstores to get candy for stocking but will have to do that next week.  Here’s hoping your house feels better and is having a wonderful Christmas season.

This week I cleared out my grocery stores Horizon Organic Milk. They sent me a $1 coupon, and the little 8 oz boxes were $10/10 at Kroger!!!!

General question about coupons.. can you use one coupon for more than one of the same type product at checkout? I ask because I see a lot of people posting of buying multiples of items with what seems like just one coupon, yet it is discounting all the items of that type. Am I just reading it wrong or are they just lucky enough to get more than one of the same coupon from the circulars?

      • I normally buy two papers a week. But I also buy coupons from a clipping services. I buy for a family of eight so sometimes two coupons just isnt enough.

How to you use Target coupons at Publix's? I asked and was told they will not take them.

      Thanks
      Sandy

It is up to your individual Publix, some consider Target a competitor, most dont. vgw

sorry y'all were sick, jenny! this was a horrible week for illness! i ended up in the ped ER with my baby, as did 2 of my friends and their babies. hope everyone is feeling better. when it's a sick week, sometimes you just have to say screw the coupons. :-)))

    • Carter's Mom

I had a great week stocking-up on Earth's Best organic baby food (on sale at Babies r Us) and Gerber baby food (on sale at Target). I probably have 100 containers of baby food! So, this is a special shout-out and a thank you to my Southern Savers friends who traded coupons this week.

Hope you all feel better soon!

Jenny, Praying you'll all be completely healed.

    • Jenny, I will pray in agreement with Debi for your family's healing!

I had a great shopping day today, even with an unavoidable Walmart stop in the trip for a few must have's that aren't on sale anywhere I could find (and not one coupon either! It was the swiffer wet jet pads…).

My savings percent was 65 (including my walmart items!)!

I did reinforce the lesson that too many stores in one day are just that…too many. I had missed the last two weeks of drug store shops due my schedule and I guess I was feeling desperate to not miss another one. I hit Rite Aid, Publix, CVS, Walgreens, Walmart, and Kroger today and talk about tired and toasted!!! LOLOL

However, my RiteAid 1st stop of the day was $7.26 OOP and earned $7.50 in Rewards! I planned on using those at Publix (which was my next stop) and the customer service agreed with my cashier that to use my RiteAid rewards dollars I needed to be purchasing those items (as though it were a coupon and not the rewards bucks). I didn't have time to go to management and later when I called to ask for clarification I learned they didn't have a manager or asst. manager there today. Ugghh…. That was $7.50 off my total and would have pushed me into the upper 70 or even 80% savings at Publix!

Regardless, I'm thrilled with my savings today and the massive amount of great deals! (4 tubes of toothpaste and they were all free! Even the one at Walmart!! LOLOL)

      Merry Christmas! Catherine

For anyone needing last minute toys…Walgreen's in my area (Smyrna/Marietta GA) have all their $6.99 or 3 for $13.99 toys on sale B1G1F at $6.99 each, which is about $3.50 per toy! They had a pretty decent selection of name brand stuff along with some store brands. They are also giving $5.00 in Jingle Cash w/ any $25.00 purchase (kind of like Register Rewards-they can be used starting on Sunday and you can redeem up to $20.00 of them on a transaction). Be sure to check your store's Clearance section, too. My store had all their WOW! sticker stuff (leftovers from summer-most were in the $1.00 and up sale section then) all marked down between 50 to 75% off. I got Paula Dean cake mixes for $.99 cents, all the cookie and candy with the WOW! $1 stickers for .24 cents, 3 packs of ladies socks for .62 cents, Paula Dean Peppercorns w/ grinder bottle for .49 cents, 3 pack Hawaiian Punch Juice Box packs for .49 cents, Betty Crocker Cookie mix in Snack size boxes for .49 cents and Chase & Sanborn Special Roast 33oz. coffee in regular and Decaf for $1.99 each (regularly $7.99 each)! They had a lot of other stuff: some toys, pet items, cleaning supplies and hair accessories marked down today too. I wish I had some coupons for some of the stuff, but these deals were great even w/o them!

I've been so busy this week I haven't had much of a chance to go shopping. I started working again this week (after being unemployed for 2 years) and it's been crazy. We also had a bunch of snow/ice… I plan on doing some more shopping today. Hopefully I'll get some good deals that I can report back here. :)
