This was a week of very little shopping.  The free times that I would have had to make it to the store were spent in doctor’s appointments or other types of errands.  I did go a little crazy on craisins in Kroger though, they were on sale for $1 (reg. $2.76) and that’s just huge.

Kroger
Total Before sales and coupons: $63.14
Total spent: $24.66
Total Saved: $38.48

I hope to make it to both Publix and Bi-Lo on Saturday.  I’ll do my best to take pictures for next week.

Now the winner of the 2 night Bed & Breakfast weekend. I was curios to see how long folks had been using the site but still with the trusty Random.org to pick the winner.

The winner is:   wenzel2@

Okay back to Friday finals, how did you do this week?  Leave a comment or a link to your savings post.

Wow, Kelli, you ARE an extreme couponer!

        • kelli

I am an INSANE couponer. :)

          • MaryT

I am an insane ENVIER!! :0) I do alright (usually 60-70% savings), but man, oh man! Wouldn't I LOVE to have a shopping session like yours! The last two times I went to Rite-Aid, though, I came out with everything (after SCR) totally free to me except part of the OLAY I got for the OLAY mail-in rebate. I was able, however, to sell the four OLAY items (I'm a Mary Kay girl!) at about 2/3 the store cost, so I ended up making a $20 PROFIT and blessed someone else with cheap skin care as well!!

          • Shannon

I think I lvoe you, Kelli. I want to go shopping with you!

      • Julie

        Kelli,
Can you explain to me how you are able to do this (i.e. can you break down your CVS trip?)

    • Joanna A.

Oh, I have to share this I was in such a HUGE hurry to get out of CVS yesterday and the girl in front of me was couponing…….getting the bucks printed out and buying more stuff…..normally that would be me but I was about to jump out of my skin!! LOL

    • SweetDenia

Jenny, thanks for doing the contests! I'd love to know the correct answers to the B&B weekend – I had to guess on at least one. Would you mind putting them up? :) Congrats to all the winners!

    • Scclark

I didn't shop very much this week but I did make it to Kmart for their sale on Cheerios. I bought 5 boxes (on sale 5 for $10) I had several $1 of 1 or 2 boxes so I paid $7 for all 5 boxes. Then each box had a $1.50 off Pampers coupon on the back so I got $7.50 back in coupons!

I do have to make it to Walgreens today for the razor deal and Neutrogena sunscreen.

    • This week was probably my best to date for couponing. I'm still pretty new compared to most here, but my Publix trip rocked.

      Total Due: $94.12
      Total Oop: $43.00

I didn’t know where else to post this, but wanted others to know about the experience I had, yesterday, at Food Lion. This is the message I just sent to their customer service:

I had a terrible experience, at Food Lion #297, Friday, 6-18. After more than an hour shopping, waiting in line and having my groceries rung up, I handed the cashier my coupons. She said, “We don’t take coupons printed on computers, anymore.” I said, “You’re kidding, aren’t you?” She said no. She started going through the coupons, pulling only the ones from magazines, newspaper circulars, etc. She even rejected two Food Lion PDF coupons, from your Shoppers Companion and one I had printed at your new machine, swiping my MVP card, when entering the store. I told her she was mistaken. She called for assistance. A manager/assistant manager came over, looked at the coupons, selecting the Food Lion ones as okay, along with the newspaper ones; but, also rejected my internet printed ones, saying it is Food Lion corporate’s new policy. I asked why there was not a sign on the doors, telling customers internet coupons would not be accepted and that I have used coupons, at Food Lion, for 2-3 years. She said too many counterfeit coupons are being passed, which I felt insinuated I must be doing so. I told her the groceries I would have used coupons on needed to be removed. She told the cashier to take her next customer and proceeded to void my entire transaction, telling me she would ring the order on the next register. I asked if she was going to do the entire order, again? She said for me to take out the items I didn’t want (couldn’t use my coupons on) and she would ring the rest. I looked at the cart and my coupons, realizing half the items would have to be taken out. I asked if she had someone to put back the items I didn’t want? She said yes. I told her, “Let them put them all back.” and left the store.

The incident was humiliating and could have been handled MUCH better! Signs should be placed, in the store, warning customers about the policy change. The manager could have used her discretion and told me the coupons would be accepted, this time, but not in the future. (I would still have sent an email; but, wouldn’t have been as upset as I am, now.)

I spend a lot of time going through sale ads, deciding which stores to shop, matching coupons, etc. Martins, Kroger and CVS take my internet coupons. I had shopped Martins, earlier in the day, using internet coupons, with no problem.

My year to date savings, at Food Lion, were already over $800. It is essential to save money, in this economy, which means I have to use coupons, if I want to continue buying name brand products. In addition, more and more companies are offering internet coupons (which are usually for higher amounts, than those found in magazines, etc.). To be told an essential part of my savings would no longer be accepted is unacceptable.

Most of my coupons are printed through coupons.com (Coupons, Inc.). Coupons can be easily verified at verif-fi.com (all you have to do is type in the series of numbers, under the barcode, which is under the expiration date).

My internet printed coupons would have reduced my total due by $16.00, the Food Lion coupons by $7.00 and the magazine coupons by $7.00. Therefore, the majority of my coupons were internet printed.

Also, I do not believe ALL Food Lion stores will no longer accept internet coupons. I believe this is a management decision at this store/Richmond area. There are always those who are disreputable, no matter what the circumstance; but, the majority of us, using coupons, are honest! We would not jeopardize the use of coupons, which just happened to me, by being dishonest. I won’t be shopping Food Lion, in the future; but, it would serve others to advise customers BEFORE they shop for a cart full of groceries, are rejected and humiliated.

I posted this Saturday. Monday, I received a reply from customer service, outlining their coupon policy. Tuesday, the customer service manager (@ 297) called me, we went over what happened. I went to the store, in the afternoon, and she showed me what grocery stores are dealing with in regard to fraudulent coupons. As with anything else, the Internet is what you make of it….good or bad. Too bad dishonest people are hurting the rest of us HONEST coupon shoppers. (The employee, Friday, was “overzealous” but I understand, now, the need to scrutinize printed coupons.)

    • RebeccaFer

I'm still curious, may be I missed it, but what was the colors of the original site? :D

    • Bockstie

Thank you so much for the Rite Aid match ups! Honestly, I believe my totals for the month there with rebates and refunds is in the negative. I made money there this month!

    • irmolees

Jenny – what were the answers to your “survey”?

    • Amy J.

Today I went to Target…….and i loved it! Total before sales and coupons : $97.97
Total OOP : $28.30!!! saved 71%! Came home with 5 big bags full……don't forget to check out the clearance on endcaps……found great deals on coffee, popcorn, pantyliners, etc. that were marked down, used Manuf. Q's for most of the marked down items. Got the free Dove deos and body mists……paid 50cents for some Ziploc containers…..got the deals on several Scrubbing Bubbles items, etc.
My only disappointment was they were out of the 8.4 oz Olay Total Effects BW.
But……My best Target trip yet :-)

    • Msmcat2003

      amazing deals at publix!!!!!

YES!!! CRAISINS!!! Not only were there craisins, but there was craisin trail mix that is SO yummy! For $1 each! I was ecstatic about that. ALSO – at my Kroger, they are having a closeout sale on lunchables sub sandwiches (just a sandwich in the box) for $1, and an attached coupon on them for $1 off of 2, making them $.50 each! I stocked up for my boys… my kroger is in Conway, AR.
      THANKS SOUTHERN SAVERS!

I saved 40.00 in coupons alone not to mention the B1G1 deals. I'm getting some money back in rebates too!! Total savings came to 90.99. Total order was 58.47. WOW love it

      • Shannon

Publix is awesome. I saved 46 bucks there yesterday and my fridge/freezer/pantry are overflowing.

    • artmommy222

Thanks for the comment on the Craisins; I had missed that in the week's ad, but I love them, so I hurried out on Saturday night to buy 12 packs before the sale was over.

    • ivegotcutekids

My family loves Craisins, too. They are one of the only things that I still get at Sam's. They have a 48 oz bag for 5 dollars and some change.

    • Shannon

I am so new to this and went to Jenny's seminar in W Cola this past Wednesday. OMG! Love you, Jenny! You should win the Nobel Peace Prize for your work on this site and information.
Anyway, I went CVSing today and after all was said in done, between sales, ECB, and coups, I saved big. I was able to get 2 rolls of paper towels, two boxes of tampons, and a really nice Gilette razor for 70 cents!!!! CRAZY! I will never shop like a “regular” person again. Thank you so much, Jenny!

    • Aymee

Darn it! I didn't register to win because I didn't know that I didn't have to get all of the questions right. Oh well, maybe next time!
