I often get asked whether warehouse club memberships are worth it. Living Social is making it a nice deal for a  Sam’s Club Membership, food vouchers, and gift card for $45! In total it’s a $73.84 value.

Last year I collected some prices to see whether buying in bulk is worth it.  Saving on the membership certainly makes it more beneficial.

Don’t forget, this would be a great deal to use your $5 credit on if you got one!

I wasn’t able to use the code, but still a great deal IMO! Thanks for the heads up!

Our membership is used most at their gas station (not all locations have have them). In our area it is always about $0.10 cheaper than everyone else, including Kroger!!

I’ve never been to Sam’s. Does anyone know – do they have much for organic products? Meat, milk etc. Are they a good deal there? I know organic meat, etc is cheap at Costco, but wondering about Sam’s.

I’ve been Sam’s Club member for years. I’ve never seen organic meat there. Their meat prices are not too bad, and their gallon milk is usually $0.20 or so cheaper than the grocery store’s house brand. Since Sam’s Club lists their prices on their website (a MAJOR plus!), I would always compare their prices to my local grocery stores ad. As AP mentioned below, I use their gas station a lot also. It’s considered a steal in comparison to the gas stations in my area, and about $0.10 cheaper than Kroger. HTH! :)

I’ve been a Sam’s Club member for years, but just last month switched to Costco after hearing many recommends from many different people…. I have been SO impressed with the selection of organic everything at Costco. Sams has some organic stuff, but not nearly the variety that Costco offers. I don’t remember seeing much (if any) organic meat. They do offer Horizons organic milk 1/2 gallons, and some organic veggies. If you’re trying to decide between Costco and Sams, I’d say stick with Costco! :)

      • you can get a one day pass for free and check it out. Just go to customer service when you walk in and tell them you just want to check their club out. They love this because most people sign up after their walk through.

    • SAMS is very much worth it. I spent time yesterday figuring up how I could work out my Target checkouts (multiple checkouts) to take advantage of the cereal and pop tart sale/ $5 gift cards per transaction. Turns out I could go to SAMS and get the same thing for even cheaper per oz. I have learned to always compare SAMS to the ending sale price at stores. You can save yourself a lot of extra mileage and time! :)

Thanks! My membership needed to be renewed this month anyway, so I think I’ll just let it lapse and get a new one! Renewing is 40$, and this deal is even better. I think a membership is definitely worth it at this price.

We use the business membership (my husband is a pastor, so we use the church’s). If I bought the deal, could I just use the membership money as a gift card?

      • christa

i doubt if you could do that since it says that it has to be used for membership. the fine print states that it’s for new members only :-(

I got the deal for $40. It wouldn’t take the code and I was given $5 credit on my account when I called them. I than placed the order and it cost $40. My husband was thinking of joining and then this comes along. Thanks for all you did to make it happen.

Our membership expired last fall and we never renewed it. Does anyone know if I can use this deal? How strict are they on “new” members?

      • leisa

I called my local store and they said that if yours expires just bring this in and go to the customer service desk where they can process it but if you are unsure just give your local sams club a call! hth

btw if you are looking to purchase please consider purchasing from my link would really appreciate it thanks!

Nestle Canisters of Cocoa Mix Hot Chocolate is being discounted very steep here in Florida because of it being a seasonal item. The price for a 47 ounce can is normally a minimum of $9.00 each….and we bought twenty canisters for $1.81 each it’s a great deal and saved us over $ 130.00. The best part is the expiration date on the canisters is February of 2015. Look to take advantage of this as it’s the best deal in the store down South.
