I have exciting news.  I told you a few weeks ago that this coming weekend (5/08) I’m speaking in Nashville for an “Action Packed” workshop.  I found out yesterday that this workshop is now a fundraiser for the Red Cross efforts in NashvilleAll proceeds will go to the Red Cross.

I would love to have you come out and  enjoy a fun morning learning new things but also to help us make this an awesome event.  You’ll leave with a ton of information but also some fun things…  I promise.

When you head out Saturday bring with you any stockpile non perishable items you have.  They can use anything you can bring.  If you are coming from another city and want to try to gather items from other folks in your area to bring let me know!  We’ll figure something out.

Don’t live near the area but want to help?
You can make a donation of any size on the Event page.  All of this will go straight to relief efforts!

One plug here:  This couldn’t be possible without the help of Eventbrite.  They are agreeing to waive all order processing fees so that we can have even more to help relief efforts!  Thanks for stepping up guys and seeing a need.

Thanks so much for your help. I live in the Nashville area and was not affected by the flood, but my mother lost her home. I have several friends that live all over the Nashville area that have been affected one way or another. The damage is very widespread and everyone can use any help they can get. Thanks again SouthernSavers. You are a blessing.

It is truly a tragic disaster here in Middle TN. It is wonderful that this event will hopefully help people save some money & help the flood victims too.

      • PatriciaABusyMom

Thank you Jenny! This is another reason that I love your site. I too live in the Nashville and are so thankful that you would tell your readers to help! God bless you and your family!

    • I think it's wonderful that this event is donating the proceeds to Nashville. Those of you not in the Nashville area have no idea how bad it is here. National news has been covering the Gulf oil issue and the NY car bomb, but the flooding here is disastrous. Millions, if not billions of dollars have been lost in homes, businesses, it will take MONTHS of recovery time to get back on our feet. We are fortunate to only have minor flood related issues, but all of my closest family works for the Gaylord Opryland Hotel and Convention Center and they are now closed indefinitely with all 3000+ employees without income (likely). It is a bad situation all around.

Please help Nashville. Even if you are not coming to Jenny's conference, you can help by donating to the Red Cross.

      Thank you everyone.

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. I also live in the Nashville area and even though I live right here in the thick of it, I still cannot believe the devastation this flooding has caused. It is terrible. It is beyond words. Any help you bring in is welcomed gratefully. Thanks!!

What sort of donations can we bring? Only food or are they looking for toiletry items as well? I am in Nashville and have been trying to find where I can donate the things that I have already stockpiled, like toothpaste and sanitary napkins etc.

    • Kim

I am SO excited that all monies collected are being donated to the Red Cross. I live in Nashville but I was not affected by the flooding. I also read a lot of different saving bloggers each day. You have been the ONLY one that has even mentioned Nashville flooding. Kudos to you.

I realize you are trying to do something helpful, but the red cross isn't helping too much. Neighbors are helping neighbors. Churches are helping too. FEMA finally made their prescence known today to let people know they won't be able to get low interest loans to rebuild. If you really want to help, get in touch with someone local, so the money/supplies will get directly to the people, not the beaucrats. People aren't yelling and screaming for help. They are too busy helping each other.

      • Shari

If you go to the page to actually donate, you will see that Red cross is partnered with one of the churches in Nashville where the coupon event is being held. I know that the proceeds from this event WILL be used to help flood victims.

I sincerely hope the red cross is doing what is right, but from first hand experience, they are no where to be found in several neighborhoods in Bellevue that really need help. My family hasn't seen them, and sections of their neighborhood were completely flooded (featured on tv many times). I know you have the best of intentions. I'm sure the red cross does as well, and I'm sure they are spread thin.

is this class closed? or can we still attend?

      • Shari

you can certainly still attend! Just click on the link that says “come out and enjoy a fun morning” and it will take you to the site to be able to sign up :)

Wow! We were planning to come up to Murfreesboro anyway for Jazzfest this weekend, long before the flood happened. I am so excited to find a place to drop off goodies while we are in the area. Hopefully, we can make it over there to do so.

    • mmpoff

I am thrilled that the money will have such a great use! I can't wait to be at the class on Saturday!

    • Susan

I attended the same class in Huntsville, Al. in March. Well worth the time and money spent going to it. I have been couponing for 7 months and I walked away with an enormous amount of knowledge. WeLL worth the money spent…Highly recommend the class!
