    • Foxfunds

I found Q's for $1/2 A&W, 7up, Canada Dry, Sunkist products – 20 oz-2L – used these at Publix – got them for .22 each. Just in time for the 4th cookouts.

In Jacksonville, FL…the Food Lions are also doing the $2.99 for 10lbs Idaho Potatoes. I usually don't buy these because they are smaller potatoes….but this time they were bigger baking potatoes! Not bad! And with the carrots..I can make homemade potato soup! :)

Also, read up on your cuts of meat. I usually get “ground” beef cheaper by buying a particular cut of meat and having the fat trimmed and ground twice. (which is done for free by most stores) I also know what is going into my ground meat…no extra dyes to make it look redder, etc.

It's also cheaper sometimes to buy the whole chicken and cut it up yourself then buy it in parts. (Alton Brown on Food Network has some great shows on the different cuts of meat and what is good to make out of them.)

Just a tip for some of you looking to buy meats for cheaper.

Please help, I am trying to eat more fish and less red meat to lead a healthier lifestyle, how can I do these and save money?

      • AliciaPo7

Walmart here has a HUGE bag of Tilapia for 10 or 11 dollars. I usually buy a bag and it feeds us for a while. It's really good browned in a small amount of olive oil which is good for you, too, in small amounts :)

        • A. Phillips

I have also noticed most coupons I am clipping are for foods that aren't very healthy, any advice on how to eat frest fruits and veggies cheaply?

      • happymom

Frozen fish is much more economical than fresh and it's actually better for you. Fish is frozen right off the boat as oppsed to being 3-4 days old by the time you purchase it fresh! I have to admit, Walmart has everyone beat on prices here. I buy a bag of individually wrapped salmon on sale for about $9.

      • ReneeM

don't forget to eat legumes more often too. cheap and healthy. canned fish is a great alternative too.

    • david1737
