Sometimes if you look closely you’ll see that some sales aren’t really deals at all! At least with this “sale” you don’t have to stock up because these savings are always available!

    • Gina

It makes it look as if it was on sale.. Tricky tag.. I'll be on the look out for these.. thanks

    • Kristen

That is tricky!! I have never paid attention to that but I will now!!!

    • Amanda

Yep! Sometimes store will actually raise the price of an item when they have it on sale for Buy One Get One Free.

      • Beth

I just experienced that this week at Publix. I had a raincheck for the 7-UP that had been on sale a couple of weeks ago. When it was on the sale, it was BOGO for $1.79. When I bought it this week, it was $.99, so I got two for $.99!

      • RebeccaFer

We just had a discussion about HT raising their prices overnight when Triples started. It was disgusting because not only did it not get to be free with the intended coupon but it was actually more money then when it was originally not “on sale!” Deceptive tactics does not make for happy customers.

    • You have to watch Kroger, they do that too. They will put a yellow tag on an item to make you think it is on sale…but it will be an “everyday low price”. My hubbie falls for it almost everytime!

      • Lucy

My hubbie even falls for those “10 for $10” or “3 for $6” or whatever. He assumes he has to buy 10 to get the discount :) LOL And doesn't believe me when I tell him he doesn't :)

        • Snellmom

I had a friend's husband believe the same thing. But, he thought you had to buy 10 of the same item. He came home with 10 bags of carrots one day. He doesn't even eat carrots!

          • Lucy

Ha ha it's funny… My husband doesn't really get couponing, although I was so very glad today – he went to change the oil in the car, and when I got home, I found my laptop by the printer, he printed a coupon for an oil change. Wow, was I shocked! But he saved $10 and is so proud of it :)

    • Heather

      ROFLOL!

    • Dewey Williams

I see this quite often in the Bi-Lo where I shop in Mt.Pleasant, SC.

      Dewey

    • Dawn75

ROFL! That is too funny. Sadly, though, I'm finding Bilo playing these sorts of games more frequently lately. Yet another reasong they are falling even farther behind Publix in my favorite places to shop.

    • Rebecca

      Nice…

    • Michelle

love that! save 00 cents each!

    • JJ

Just watch the items in the ad doesn't mean it really on sale. A good example if meat on sale for 2.50 not really sale but at 1.79 a better sale. You'll have to know when the lowest price it will go on sale. A site will track this for you. With this you can save 80 percent just about every week compared to 55 percent.

    • 3monkeysmom

That's funny…do people really fall for this????
And what's going to happen on 5/26….back to the regular price of $5.99?! Haha..

    • erins_deals

      That is Awesome!!! Stock up!!

    • Shirley

Mine will sometimes send a flyer that lists 50 odd products, but if you look, it doesn't say they're on sale, it is actually a price comparison of those products with other competitors. I guess that means they don't have a sale that week? XP

    • mary

LOL At least they're honest! Walmart is all about posting signs saying you are guaranteed to be paying the lowest price… absolute b.s.!

      • RebeccaFer

Yeah, I'd love to take in my receipts from my regular shopping with normal coupons and ask Wally World if they'd price match that … and if they did, then I'd whip out a triples or SD receipt and say, “Then how about this?” I wish they could be sued into not saying they have the lowest prices guaranteed! Blech WM!

    • nampo

You are so right about that. If it's not a real deal where I see substantial savings I don't go for it.

    • Nathan

My favorite is when Harris Teeter will have a huge display of Coke 12 packs and a big sign that says they're on sale for 4.99… I always LOL at that one.

And yeah, Kroger is really bad about taking 2 cents off the product and then putting a big yellow sign over the original price so you have to peel it back to check if you aren't sure if it is really on sale or not.

    • lynn

i found one about a year ago (sorry i can't find the picture) but it has a huge bright sign that said 2/$4.00, what was funny is that the regular price, which was completely visible, was $1.89! that still makes me laugh.

    • Lucy

The picture in the post is really funny! “Save 0.00 each” LOL. I see these in Publix all the time, on the tags below the products, in big red pring – SAVE 5 CENTS. Wow, like 5 cents is gonna make me rich.

      • BeaDandelion

I beg to differ… .05 cents WILL make you rich. That is why we coupon ;-) Enough nickles and I'm good to go! I will stop and pick up every penny I see… almost. Not at gas stations and bathrooms.

    • BeaDandelion

That is hysterical. D'oh! Shows ANYONE can work there!

Sorry guys, but I kinda want to stand up for Bi-lo on this one. The price at that particular Bi-Lo might just be lower than the rest of the Bi-Lo's around the south. So when that item went on sale, the price didn't go down at that one store. I've noticed price differences at several Food Lion stores – all within 5 miles of each other! I love Bi-Lo personally – they've never given me issues on coupons, etc. They always have super sales and low prices on the basics. That being said, it is silly to put that up, but good for that store to have lower prices already. =)

    • alan

I was at kroger yesterday, and I think it was baked beans maybe?? that were on sale 3 for $5 and the regular price was 1.68, so .02 off I think

    • Karen

I just had to laugh at this but also tell you what wonderful customer service I had a t my Myrtle Beach Bi-Lo yesterday. I went in to purchase 4 general mills cereals to get the $6 off but they were out of the lucky charms that I had 2 coupons for. I found a manager and he worked it out where he went ahead and rang me up for 4, that way I could use all 4 coupons and get the $6 off. I will just have to go back later in the week to pick up my other boxes, which I will anyway. I thought it was so nice of him to figure out a way for me not to lose out on the deal. Thanks Bill!

    • RebeccaFer

I guess the price lock means it won't be available for long right? I must stock up now!!! :D

    • couponNERD

      HILARIOUS!

    • micki

My Winn Dixie is notorious for doubling the price on things then marking them buy one get one free! It drives me CRAZY. Sorry, not paying $5 for a can of chunky soup on “sale”

    • apoint2bemade

It's all about marketing. I ain't mad at 'em. However, I will be a well informed consumer and stay 2 steps ahead of 'em. That's why blogs such as this one are so valuable.:)

    • jewel4778

I hate when Target does the “Advertised Price” trick, making you think it's on sale, but it's not.

    • Lucy
