Weekly Weigh In

I’m excited to say that after a standstill week last week, this week I lost another 2 lbs.  That brings me to the super fun moment of 10 lbs lost!  I remember in my nursing days working in the operating room and learning that 10 lbs of fat is roughly equal in size to a gallon milk jug.  Yeah that might be more than you wanted to visualize, but for me it’s been quite motivating.

This weekend was my first challenge on Nutrisystem as we traveled to Atlanta for doctor appointments for Mary’s hip.  All went well with the doctor, but for me it was hard to figure out meals as we ate out a few times.  I brought bars with my for breakfast, but I couldn’t bring myself to only eat a bar for each meal.  Overall I tried to follow a few rules and calorie counting in MyFitnessPal app it appears things went okay.

  1. I ordered a side salad with any meal I could.
  2. When the entree came I only ate half of it and saved the rest for later (or split it with my husband who is trying to eat healthier to help keep me motivated).
  3. Only drank water.
This is already a rule at home, but it’s a lot harder when there are options before you that you don’t have at home.
  4. Researched my meals before I ate them.
I would type into MyFitnessPal the restaurants name and see if anything came up.  If it did I would try to pick the healthier options in terms of calories it listed.  If the restaurant wasn’t in there, I searched for what I was thinking about ordering to see just how bad of an idea that was.   Seeing just how much a meal would cost me definitely helped me decide if it was worth it to eat it.

Our go to fast food is Chick Fil A, and I did learn this week that I love their grilled nuggets (8ct) and their super food broccoli and kale side salad.  Total for both items 280 calories!

We are back home now and back on the Nutrisystem meals.  It was a growing trip to leave the safe system of grab a lunch meal or dinner meal (everything is labeled so you don’t have to think about it).  Coming back to them though, I confess I really like not having to think everything out, no research needed, just eat lunch.

If you are curious to try it, through today Nutrisystem is offering a huge discount of $100 off +free shipping and a few other freebies thrown in!

      Way to go Jenny!

My tip for eating out is to leave out appetizers and stick to healthy choices. If you and your hubby do want to share an app, go for something like hummus :)

yaaay! That’s awesome! I am on Nutrisystem as well and I looove it! I love the not thinking as well. It makes it easier with my busy life. The food is pretty good. Nutrisystem has a guide book with all popular restaurants in there. It tells you what you can eat. Its a great guide. It should have come with your package. I follow that to ensure I stay on task. It makes you feel like you can still eat regular food when going out and not cheat persay. Also try doing lemon water and apple cider vinegar in the morning. It helps boost metabolism.

WTG! My weigh in day is Monday and I have lost 6.2 pounds since my first weigh in on February 29th = 3 weeks. I am thrilled to be on a roughly 2lb a week losing streak. I am hoping to keep it up but know that I can/will hit a plateau sooner or later. My first goal is 30 pounds as well. It is really about making better choices, it’s all in how I decide to live. Hubs had Talenti coconut gelato and I had ONE bite – oh so good but not giving in to eating more.
I have a coworker who has lost 15 pounds in 6 weeks. She said for her it has been about making better eating choices and not following any particular diet. Pepsi is her challenge – she loves it!

      Keep up the good work!

I don’t eat bread from hamburger/sandwich or rolls they bring at table. It’s not much of a save in calories but def in nutrition. Also, I don’t kick myself for eating “junky” occasionally. Most important thing is to eat healthy as much as possible and not get discouraged when you have a “bad” day or treat. Keep up the work! You’re doing great!!! ?

Great! I am doing Atkins. I have done a lot of reading about it. I have to have a plan…something to go by or I don’t do well. I started my weight loss journey last year actually an don’t lost 61 lbs. I ended up having an emergency surgery right around holiday time. So needless to say I gained back a few pounds. But I’m back on track and wanted a change. My pastor and his wife have lost quite a bit with Atkins so I decided to give it a try. I lost 7 lbs last week. But I am very overweight and when you shock your body like that the weight always comes off fast the first week. But you are keeping me motivated and I thank you for that. I still have about 60 more to lose. But I have to take it one day at a time. Way to go!!
