I think the milk should have an acorn for $1.99 a gallon. YAAAHH! :)

As well as each of the produce items each week!  Two pounds of Vidalia onions for $.59 is amazing especially considering Publix is advetising them to be a bargain at $.99 per pound.

For some reason, Aldi is the red-headed step child of grocery stores and deals are never deemed “good enough”.

        • Momofsix

Well, it’s certainly the red-headed step child of grocery stores on a COUPONING site!!!!! ;)

          • guest

The Welcoming sign to the site says, “Welcome to Southern Savers, where finding deals and steals is simple and rewarding!”

Here in Chicago, when the deal are hard to find at our regular store, Jewel/Dominick’s, everyone heads to Aldi!  Even when there are deals, I still go to Aldi once a week for milk, $1.79/gallon and vegi’s.

    • Hrleonard

And if you’re in the Atlanta area, look for fliers with a $5/30 coupon because we’re having three new stores opening on Thursday!!! They came in the Sunday paper but some stores have the fliers sitting out.

We love the frozen lemonade concentrate and use it all summer long.  I mix it a little different for better flavor. Add 7 cans of water and 1/2 cup of sugar and it is delicious!

thanks for the tip-love hearing other folks ideas. What can we do with those cheap avocados. Dr. Oz says they’re so healthy.

        • Suecohl

Mash them and mix with a little lime juice, chopped tomatoes (which are also on sale) and salt and pepper to taste. Serve with tortilla chips for a great and healthy guacamole.

avacado sandwiches are to die for!! just add whatever condiments you like and some alfalfa sprouts and it’s delish! or you could just do what my daughter does and eat it right out of the skin with a spoon!!

    • Cruises72

Vidalia onions for $.59- WOW  What a great deal!!!!

    • Cl3v3rgirl33

FYI, 4/29 AJC Sunday paper had a $5 off $30 purchase coupon on the back of the Aldi ad.

does anyone have any tips for ripening their green bananas in the bag?  My kids refuse to eat them because after we get them home and let them turn yellow, the texture is mealy and they never really taste ripe like regular bananas from Publix or Kroger.  Is there a trick to it?

      • Two things you can try: First, apples give off a gas or chemical that will cause other fruits to ripen more quickly.  Another option is to get a brown grocery bag and roll the bag down so that the bananas, which also give off a certain ripening gas, will ripen more quickly.  Personally, I’ve never done this and I am not a huge fan of bananas, but I have heard of these working.  Hope this helps!
