    6. Couponing Momma says:

I wish someone would have discussed when I should pump with me prior to being sent home with the baby.  I did not fully understand that you use or lose it… PS.. just found out today that we are expecting Child #2!  My hubby has no idea yet..going to tell him on Christmas.  Just trying to figure out a cute/original way of doing so.

      • Missriza says:

You should buy one of those big sister/brother shirts for your daughter/son and give it to them as a gift, so when your husband sees it hopefully he’ll figure it out :). Babies R Us sells them, but you might be able to find something similar at any of the other stores.  Congrats!

    7. Shelley says:

A lot of the “essential” baby toys and things are used for such a short period of time, so borrow or buy used what you can!!(then you can have money leftover to buy the real essentials like diapers, wipes, etc!)  They are nice to have, but some of those things like bumbo chairs, pampasan chairs, activity mats, tummy mats, exersaucer, jumperoos are use for only 3-4 months at a time and they cost soo much!

    8. Missriza says:

I wish I would have known that the first night would be the hardest night of my life…getting use to no sleep, breastfeeding aches and pains, all the labor pains, but it was all worth it for my three little ones.

    9. Faith says:

Wish I had known that baby blues are NORMAL. :)

    10. Kim says:

I wish I had known how much fun listening to “baby talk” can be!

    11. Katiemusic says:

I wish I had known that it was OK not to LOVE every single second… that it is still work and not LOVING every minute of the tough times doesn’t make a person a crappy mommy.  :) Just being honest…

    12. Erin G says:

I wish someone had told me the IMPORTANT must haves to put on the registery. I got a ton of clothes, but very few diapers, wipes, feeding supplies. I guess I just got caught up in the “cute” baby items and forgot about the essentials.

    13. Lauramartin1023 says:

I wish someone would could tell me how to wean my 14 month old. Never thought it would be so hard.!!!!

Wish my wife would have put more diapers and wipes (different brands and sizes) on our registery

    18. Kelly at View Along the Way says:

Wish I’d known how hard the lack of sleep would be, but that this too shall pass!

    19. angela says:

I wish someone had told me it was okay to think life was awful for a couple months.  I was normal!  It is awful to be so sleep deprived and feel like my body was not my own anymore!  If I could have just accepted that was normal to feel, I would have basked more in the special, miraculous, wonderful moments even more.

    20. Carolyn says:

To play more and worry less!

    21. Candace says:

That they are not babies for long!

    22. Jess says:

I wish I would have registered for more necessary stuff- got so much clothes & blankets but not a lot of the stuff I really needed.  Now I only give the necessary stuff at showers.

    23. Estacey77 says:

Wish I’d known all as much about breast feeding as I do now-things would have been much less stressful.

    24. Ashley says:

I wish I would have known how many diapers babies go through. I would have stocked up more.

    25. Katiea813 says:

I wish I would have know that a newborn requires very little “stuff” when you first bring them home. There is no need to buy everything all at once before the baby gets here :)

    26. Sandy565 says:

Always stock up on diapers! You can never have enough!

    27. Dix says:

I wish I had not let the doctors worry me unnecessarily about slow wait gain! I knew my babies were okay, but I still let it get to me–ruined quite a few months that way!

    28. Kelly says:

I wish I had more consignment stores around for my first 3 children. My last son has gotten way more stuff because I can afford more thanks to these stores.

I wish I would have known more about breast feeding.

    30. Carriearmywife says:

    31. Brookey52 says:

I would find it helpful for the babies series to offer samples and coupons for baby products.  That would be awesome! :)

    32. Pugcrazy says:

I wish I had known that a clean house is not as important as playing in the floor with some blocks.  Kids don’t remember that the house was spotless, but they do remember Mom sitting in the floor being silly and giving them her full attention.

    33. Monkzardo says:

I wish I’d known to ignore a lot of the baby items the stores claim you need.

    34. Anonymous says:

I wish I had known how many diapers a newborn goes through!

    36. Pollard1184 says:

I wish someone had warned me about stretch marks. It wouldn’t have changed anything but maybe I would have been able to reduce the severity of them.

    37. Sarah says:

The formula feeding section looks helpful to me, as we are adopting our first baby.

    38. Jennifer says:

I wish I would have know more about breast feeding.

    39. Melissa Cole says:

I wish someone would have told me how complete my life would be. My son has filled our home with so much LOVE and now with baby # 2 on the way we couldn’t be more content with life : )

    40. carrie says:

Everyone told me that for the first few months I wouldn’t get any sleep. I thought “I can handle this”.  I knew it, but it is not until they get up every 3-4 hours to eat regardless of how long they were up previously.  They get up regardless of how tired you are.  And you have to get up and be ready to take care of them.  You love them so much, but you are so tired.  I knew it, but I guess I really had no idea how tired I would really get.

    41. Heidi says:

I guess I can’t think of one thing…I know that no one could tell me how much my life would change for the better and the unconditional love you could feel for your child. This is only something a parent can know. Even when you’ve had no sleep and they are screaming at 2 a.m. you still love can’t imagine life any other way!

    42. Esyke623 says:

We are currently expecting our first baby– I wish someone had told me how terrible the nausea would be . . . and that “morning sickness” is a misnomer– it’s all day sickness! :(

    43. Amanda says:

I wish I had known that it’s okay to ask for help! Being a new mom is overwhelming, and getting a little help here and there is perfectly OKAY!

    44. Allinole says:

i wish I realized the true lack of sleep I would have

    45. Elizabethdriver21 says:

That gravity and bowel movements dont always work together!!

    46. daylily says:

I wish I had known that babies can start teething at 3 months.

    47. Tindall08 says:

I wish someone would have told me  just because you ask for help doesn’t mean you aren’t a good mother.

    48. Taylorsgirl9 says:

Wish I would have not wasted money on the things I thought a baby would need but really doesn’t! Also, time flies by with the second one!! We’re so busy with our everyday lives and also our 2 1/2 year old, my second baby is already 6 months old and I have no idea where the time has gone!!! So, my advice would be to make extra special time with your second!

    49. Cmwh2i says:

I wish someone would tell me how to put a bow on my babys head! She has no hair!

    50. Luvisaverb1 says:

I wish I would have listened to everyone about babies and their gas. We had to go out and get a bunch of gas drops. Come to find out, Walmart had generic gas drops for like half the price. We live and learn.

    51. Danaldrman says:

wish i knew about extended rear facing.  iwould have bought a different car seat

    52. CJ_Mom says:

I wish someone would have warned me how much you really have to rely on your partner.  Between lack of sleep, crying, feeding, etc., I am glad my husband ignored me when I told him I would handle 90% of everything.

    53. Pierina says:

I wish I had known that everything doesn’t have to be perfect: clean house, outfits, meals, etc; as long as everyone is feeling loved.

    54. Lianna says:

I wish I would’ve known how fast it would go by!  My baby is 3 now and it seems like only yesterday…

    55. Jogmommy says:

I wish I would have known that “two hours between feedings” includes the first hour it took to feed the first time!

    56. Anglsweets8 says:

This is my first pregnancy, so I’m excited to learn about all of the different things related to her at whatever age she is!! You get everyone’s opinions that have “been there and done that”, but it’s nice to have expert opinions at your fingertips!

    57. Susan says:

I wish I’d have know the true “must haves” vs. the things that “would be nice to have.” Due to space, we ended up not using some larger items with our second child, and I realized I could have EASILY done without them for the first. (That’s probably not what Walmart wants to hear though!)

    59. Amy Lauren says:

I really like how the site has an area about diaper challenges and about changing diapers. Seems like a really educational site.

    60. Paj says:

I wish I would of known how much work and responsibilities there is  to care for a child/children. My mother always said, “Wait until you have kids on your own, you’ll know what I went through.” I have my hands full with 3 children with ages close to each other and still wonder how she did it with 11 children…

WARNING— 2 is TOUGH…  Love my girls but they are a hand full…

    63. Angelamona says:

Wish I had realized how quickly they grow up and I think I’d have cherished those times more!!!

    64. Krittenmarie says:

I wish I would have known that 6 hours of sleep broken up into 2 hour spurts in NOT the same as 6 hours all together.  It does make a difference!

    65. Jennifer says:

I wish someone would have told me to take it all in and keep a list of the things that make you laugh and smile…this way you can read them when you are at your wits end.

    66. I wish I had known how much stress a new baby can put on a marriage.  I have 3 kids now and went through a rough time after each baby.

    67. Raniahs says:

I wish I would have known how demading they were and the attention that they constantly need…was unprepared in this regard!

    68. LThompson says:

I learned that sometimes you just have to let them cry.

    69. johnstka says:

I wish someone would have told me car seats expire- would not have bought one off craigslist.

    70. Adriane says:

I wish someone had given me an instruction guide on how to cut fingernails the first time.

    71. Crystal says:

I wish I would have known not to try to be Super Mom. Cooking, cleaning, feeding, changing…all on no sleep…trying to make everyone happy and forgetting to take care of myself. Every new Mom needs some time for herself!!!

    72. Shenelled says:

9 months doesnt seem long enough..

    73. Zelda08 says:

I wish i had known babies grow up to be teenagers….LOL!!!

    74. MamaG says:

That I should have rested while my newborn was sleeping between feedings!  I will never have that chance again with #2!!!

    75. Ginger says:

I’m 24 weeks pregnant with my first baby and really want to know what things you really need and which ones you can do without.

      • Six Quivers says:

:- ) I have six children…you don’t need all the newborn receiving blankets, one for the car and one for in the house is plenty. You want one piece outfits for bedtime with the little feet…but you want them to button down the center or zip down the center…it is a pain for them to go down the one leg!!  You will need about 3 packages max. of newborn diapers and then they are off to size 1’s.If you plan on breastfeeding, still get one set of Avent baby bottles..occasionally, there might be one night in those first few weeks where the baby just cannot latch on properly, it is ok to try and use a bottle with water to get through the stressful time and then try nursing again…The first three weeks are the hardest nursing and then it gets better. Put your babies in a larger diaper at night than what they normally wear so that you are not having to change a diaper in the middle of the night that way you can nurse them and get them back to sleep quicker ~~~Feel free to email me more specific children, I’m 44 and just had my 6th in August dono7685 AT bellsouth DOT net

      • Jessica says:

Everybody will tell you something different. There is a book (it was purple a couple of years ago, but they update pretty frequently, odd rectangular shape) that does review on baby products, but also tells you the basics of what you need, no fluff. I used it to register and it was great! For the life of me I can’t remember the name of it though..If I remember it, I will let you know.

    76. Joey Bryan says:

I wish I would have known that all babies have their own timetables and not all babies acheive the same milestones at the same time.

    77. Julie says:

I wish someone would’ve told me to have professional newborn photos taken. It would’ve been difficult to go to a photo shoot, etc. but I think it would be SO worth it to have those photos to cherish forever.

    78. April says:

I wish I would have known that the first few months they are taking, taking, and taking but that after then, they start smiling and responding and it makes it all worth while!

I wish I would have known how exhausted I would be!

    81. Kim hansen says:

I wish someone would have told me not to compare my baby and their development to others!

    82. Tatyana says:

Probably how attached I would be to my baby-girl and how fast she grew.

    83. Angie says:

      Having Babies and Kids means…….
You will never be able to go to the bathroom by yourself anymore! No matter if the are playing nicely with their sibling or sleeping. The moment you sit down, they will be standing there or wake up.

    84. kim hill says:

how they group up but you are still their mother

    85. Beth says:

      They never sleep!

    86. Jamie says:

I wish I had known even if we did everything “by the book” to get our son to sleep through the night… it could still be after he was a year old!  Hopefully our little one coming next summer will just be a great natural sleeper:)

    87. Anonymous says:

That time passes quickly and to treasure each second

    88. Andrea says:

Sometimes newborns look like they’ve got the shakes, but it’s just their nervous systems working out the kinks. I thought something was terribly wrong with my son when his arms or legs would shake for no apparent reason. Then someone told me that as long as it stops when you hold his arm or leg, there’s no reason to be alarmed. And he outgrew it within the first month.

    89. Becki says:

I wish someone would have advised me of the postpartum differences when you have a c-section vs. vaginal delivery.  Most of the education you get when you’re pregnant is for vaginal delivery/recovery.  There are some major differences and only once I started educating myself did I realize that I was “normal for a c-section mommy.

    90. CaseyG says:

I wish I would have known that I didn’t need EVERY little thing that they make especially for babies. Like the swing that my son hates, the infant head insert that doesn’t fit into our car seat, the sleep positioner which has been deemed unsafe….etc, etc. Do your research and read reviews on items before purchasing/registering.

    91. CaseyG says:

    92. Katebres says:

you have To sleep when they sleep

    93. Jburks says:

Hovering over your child will effect their independence. It’s OK to let your baby cry for a few minutes here and there. Otherwise your children will want you to fix every little need :)

    94. ashley says:

You don’t need nearly as much baby stuff as everyone (all the stores) think you do.

    95. Jessicabaggett1987 says:

I wish that I knew how much they woould change my life. I am a different person than I was before I had my son. Much more selfless. I am no longer the most important person in my life. My son is!

    96. Couponchick30 says:

      How fast they grow up!

    97. Swall says:

take naps when they do…everything else can wait!

    98. AudraB says:

I wish I had known that it’s okay to let them cry sometimes.  I got up for every whimper with my first and about lost my sanity in the meantime.

    99. Igot5ltlboyz says:

I wish I would have known how very, very fast that precious time goes.  :)

    100. ParentInTraining says:

One thing i wish I would have known (although there are many things), is the importance of resting and preparation before your child actually arrives. Before my daughter was born, I worked 2 jobs, 7 days a week and 70 hours a week up until the day my daughter was born, and now that she’s here I still don’t have the opportunity to sleep. She’s worth all of the long nights and short naps tho!

    101. I wish I had known more & felt more confidant about choosing cloth diapering when my son was born, but we got on track with it within 5 months and have loved it & never looked back since! It all worked out for the best really because 2 years later we’re having our 2nd child just in time for my best friend to hand-me-down her newborn size diapers from her daughter she had this summer (since we never got newborn size the first time around). Great timing!

    102. Jamie says:

That they grow up incredibly fast and change so much everyday!

    103. Rhonda Sml says:

How much I took eating for granted…I would have savored nights out with my hubby

    105. Stormy says:

To enjoy time for yourself, even the small things like showering become a luxury with a newborn.

    106. chrystal bachmann says:

I wish I’d lknown that it’s okay to let them cry sometimes!

    107. Pandabear says:

Best advice ever given to me was to not keep a quiet house while the baby slept so it would learn to sleep through anything.

    108. Kime' Braden says:

How fast they grow up and to enjoy every minute.

    109. HM1968 says:

That there is no other love like the love of a child and seeing their eyes light up when they see you is something no one else can ever do to you.

    110. timschick says:

To not worry AT ALL about the condition of my house or the amount of dishes waiting to be washed.  ENJOY the baby!

    111. Cel9000 says:

That you can tell your doctor no… don’t let the doctors and nurses persuade you into things that go against your body and nature.

    112. Pete_pipe says:

I wish I would have known that by contacting Similac, they would provide coupons that help with the cost and sometimes even cover it!

    113. BrookeP says:

I wish someone would have warned me how hard that first month was going to be, but it was worth it.

    114. Charity says:

I wish I would have realized how precious EVERY MOMENT is!  To slow down and enjoy the small stuff!!!

    115. Sandra says:

I wish I had known how quickly babies go through diapers – I would have stocked up more before he was born :)

I wish I would have asked for diapers as gifts…soooo many diapers

I wish I would have know how much jar food they eat. I made baby food with my second one, and it was sooo much more affordable (and healthy to boot).

    121. Cherrycookin says:

I wish I would of know how super tired I was going to be and to the point of hallucinating due to lack of sleep :) !

    122. Unc_kristin says:

that no matter how much you try to read, get advice from others, or prepare yourself for a child….you will never be ready.  just take it one day at a time, enjoy every moment because if you dont you will look back and hate yourself because time flies….learn to laugh at the things you cannot control and give yourself a pat on the back  because raising a child is tough yet fulfilling.

    123. Jen says:

I wish I would have known how hard it is to get them to sleep through the night if you always jump to their rescue at the slightest whimper.

    125. Eyes1227 says:

I wish I would have known how cheap diapers can be if you use coupons.

    126. blaire says:

well, this isn’t about babies exactly, but i wish i knew how to use coupons when we were expecting our little one. i would have LOVED to have a stockpile of diapers before she was born. I had no idea you could get diapers for SO cheap at cvs! and well…i guess how many diapers they go through at each stage… :)

    127. Lindsaygreengirl says:

We are expecting our first in May 2012 and love gathering help from others who have already walked the path before us! We know we will not be perfect parents, but we want to be as prepared as possible!

    128. Amber says:

I was given this advice with my 1st, but I wish I had listened then!: sleep when the baby sleeps! Laundry, cleaning, food can wait!

    129. Amy says:

I wish I knew how hard it was going to be to leave my baby at the hospital for 10 days.  I didn’t feel like she was mine, I felt like she belonged to the nurses in the NICU.

    130. Jessica says:

I wish somebody would have told me the amount of stress a new baby can bring to your marriage.  That first year of baby was rough!

    131. Dixiegirlinafrica05 says:

I wish I had known to use diaper/wipes/formula coupons with my first baby!!!  We spent a fortune on her.  I just had my 3rd baby in 3 years, and this is the “cheapest” baby we’ve had yet.  ;-)

I wish I had known more about couponing before my first baby!  I am on my third baby and and finally learned how to get good deals on things and save big money.  Who needs full price?  Who needs a sale?  I can get even better than that now totally with the help of blogs like this one.  Having a baby doesn’t have to break the bank!

I wish someone would have said that you need a supply of about 8-10 washcloths that first few weeks after the milk comes in….because you need them to stuff in your nursing bra when you sleep at night and your milk is overflowing…change them out and then put in a new supply make sure they are nice thick ones, you will not regret it….waking up with sopping wet pajamas is no fun!!! :-)

One of my 3 must-have pieces of baby equipment (along with a Miracle Blanket and a Nose-Frida) are these marvelous silicone breast “pads” called Lilypadz.  They actually invert the nipple and keep you from leaking at all!  Best of all, they are washable, so you can use them over and over again!

One thing I wish I knew about babies before having my first is how interesting potty training a boy can be.  If it was not for my husband’s “life experiences” it would have been a hopeless situation being a female and teaching my first boy child how to use the potty….some great memories but, what an experience.

    229. Annabel says:

    245. bugaboo says:

I wish I had known that its easier to just go with the flow. I watched a bunch of t.v. shows where the moms had it together and thought thats what I had to do. I know now when I have a newborn to let them sleep when they want

    246. Becky B says:

I wish I had known that it is a lot of work to get them into a good sleeping schedule.  This is especially true when you’re nursing because it’s tempting to just let your little darling sleep in your arms instead of putting him down in the crib.  The problem is that if you don’t resist this urge, you will end up with an adoring baby who wants you to be with him all the time.  (And by all the time, I mean ALL THE TIME!)  I obviously learned this the hard way.  I love my little admirer but it makes it hard to get anything else done when your little guy cries every time you put him down or leave him with anyone.  It’s especially hard when he looks at me with those puppy dog eyes that say “Please pick me up.  I love you!”  He has me wrapped around his chubby little finger. :-)

    247. Kutiekt says:

Wow, where do I begin.  That you really don’t need so much “stuff” for babies. The essentials work just fine.

Wipe Warmer .. It didn’t fit on the changing table and would dry out the wipes.

Dreft .. way to expensive. All free and clear or purex baby are just as good.

I wish I knew that it is ok if you can’t breast feed.  If it just doesn’t work, don’t be so stressed out, your child will turn out just as smart and healthy as any other child.  My baby lost weight and had to stay in the hospital extra days and I was stressed of course and the whole time they were coming up with crazy ideas and set ups to get my baby to breast feed instead of suggesting we give her a bottle with formula until she was able to do it on her own.  She is totally healthy and is ahead of other kids her age and all on formula.  While I would have loved to be able to breast feed and not for a lack of trying but we were not able to.  We bonded just fine and my husband could help out on those middle of the night feedings haha

As a first time grandmother, I am re-living the joys and fatigue along with our daughter. Her husband is deployed and won’t be back for about a year. So….her daddy and I are helping out as much as possible. I forgot about the sleepless nights! LOL But thoroughly enjoying the time we have with our grandson!!!!!!!

    431. Brenda says:

Wish I had known that I would need my Mom to live close by to help me.

    432. Jessica says:

I need a list of what is necessary for our first! There are so many things to think about, like what kind of stroller you need, or safety of a car seat, and what car seats you can use longer than others, etc.

      • Tristansmommy120910 says:

I’m assuming your asking for input. My son was in a infant carseat for only 4 months his weight was about to exceed the limit. Then I bought a carseat that held up to 30 pounds thinking ok that will last awhile WRONG! He ended up being to tall for it once he was 11 months. Now we bought the safety first alpha omega elite. It’s rear and forward facing 5-100 lbs and im in love with it. Wish I’d of know about 3-in-1 before hand. The infant carseats are nice to use with a matching stroller to just snap it into. But think you’ll definitely get your moneys worth with a 3-in-1. I found mine at burlington for $100 but sighned up for their email and got a 20% coupon so it ended up being $85 after tax (this is just a bit more then your typical infant carseat) Hth.

        • Tristansmommy120910 says:

Almost forgot. Consider a 3-in-1 crib also. Paid $200 for ours and will last many years. Crib to daybed, to toddler.

    433. Megan Davis says:

I wish I would have known how hard the first 3 months are!!

    434. Studyalldaypartyallnight says:

    442. Lyndacoupon says:

I wish I had known not to make her formula using cold water from the fridge. She threw up the entire bottle about 5 minutes after finishing it! Then my brother-in-law explained to me that infants don’t tolerate cold items. We warmed all bottles after that!

    443. AmyQ says:

I wish I new how to introduce solids (and the appropriate time) to my little one. She’s 14 months old, and is still mainly on formula/milk!

      • Tristansmommy120910 says:

This may sound weird but have you thought about adding solids to her bottle? I did this with my son since he had acid reflux and needed thicker formula. He has never had a issue with taking solids. But maybe this is worth a try?

    453. Shelly says:

My baby is 7 months old.  So I am excited to hear about this.  I am sure that I have tons to learn.

I wish I had known I wouldn’t get to use the massive amounts of clothes I bought and received as gifts in sizes 0-3 months

    455. Kristy Miller says:

I wish I had known that its okay to make mistakes as a new mom.  The baby won’t die if he gets fed an hour late!

    456. Rachel Shaw says:

I wish I had kept up with her baby book better. Now she is 23 and a mom herself. I keep trying to remember the little things that she did and at what age. It really is true that you can’t recall things when you get older.

    466. DianaY19 says:

That everything is just a phase. When my daughter would only nap for 30 mins at a time from newborn to 1 year (and the books all said she should nap 1-2 hrs) I stressed myself out unduly.  Every issue,problem,stress-maker, etc. will pass.  It really helped once I realized that.

    468. Stephanieswalker08 says:

I wish I would have known that you become hyper-sensitive to every sad/scary/horrific story about something bad that has happened to another child. Makes you worried about the safety of your own.

How intense the love is that you can have for another human being…

    473. Jessi56 says:

My first child, who is 5 month old, had colic for first few months (wish I was prepared for that phase!) and went from that into teething (already has 2 bottom!). I wish I could have been more prepared on those two things…and much more to come I’m sure, so this would be great!

    476. WENDY says:

I wish I knew that babies “fought” sleep! I know the baby is tired, the baby knows she’s tired–but she is forcing herself to stay up! WHY!! lol

I wish I would have known that when your tiny baby gets sick, it is officially the scariest thing that will happen to you..

    479. Shellibass says:

I wish I had known that I needed to separate the tiny rolls of fat on my daughter’s neck in order to clean it.  Well, after two weeks of not knowing this, my god mother noticed that she had all kinds of lint and dirt in those creases.  I felt terrible.

    480. Kara G. says:

I never really knew how much I was going to love my daughter! You can never be fully prepared! Every new. Thing is an experience and a great one at that!

    481. vanessa says:

i wish i could have known how hard it really is to be a young mother, (My mom made it seem so easy raising 3 girls!!). I’m 23, and my children are 2 and 4. I feel like me and my boyfriend of 6 yrs are doing it all backwards.. Having children, buying our cars, home buying, then hopefully marriage when we can afford it. I wish i would have known how hard it really is. But god blessed me with 2 beautiful boys and at the end of the day, I wouldn’t change a thing.. We would be lost without them!! oh and how baby’s usually have their days and nights mixed up!

    484. Munk2323 says:

I wish I would have know to start a journal when we got home… the first few weeks are really a blur! I started when my sweet son was about 10 weeks b/c I realized how fast it goes and the little things that are so amazing that happen daily as they become little people (something as simple of he “reached” for his toy on his swing!)

I wish I would have known that I really did know what I was doing.  You always doubt yourself but what you are doing is probably the best thing for your baby.

    489. Clothing that has snaps and doesn’t have to go over a babies head is much easier to handle.

    490. Pecanrattie says:

I wish I would have known that my sons would grow up to be my best friends.

    491. Brittneysterner48 says:

I wish I would have taken seriously the whole sleep when the baby sleeps part, but its so amazing that no matter how little sleep I got, each time I saw my sweet baby boy, all I could do was love on him and hold him. As he has gotten older (now 6 months) he has become more chunky and I have to make sure I clean and dry his little folds and neck creases because he got a small infection in them :(

    492. Indulala says:

I wish I would have known the sacrifice, that from the moment you look into your new babies eyes and he grabs your finger, and latches to your breast that your life has been turned upside down, side ways and all around. That from that moment on, you would do anything for your baby, no matter what the cost to you, and I knew from that moment forward that I would be the best mom that I could be.

    502. Windermarie says:

How hard it really is. Having a baby is really hard. Your whole life changes. I was 15 when I had my first. I was so scared that I was doing everything wrong. Now I am almost 27 and I have two more beautiful children. I would not change anything! It is very hard raising a child, but in the end it is so worth it. I would do it all over again, maybe wait til I was 20 or so to have my first. So very thankful God has given me 3 precious, healthy children.

    503. Bre9238 says:

It takes an entire day to fold one load of laundry!

    504. Shannonwells says:

You always hear how fast they grow, I wish I would have relaxed with my first as I have with my second and third in regards to other chores. The laundry along with everything else will eventually get done. But I will never get those moments I was “too busy” for a story back. I now enjoy every stage a little more.

I’m expecting in January. We’ve been taking childbirth classses but haven’t had a lot of education on baby care. The videos are a huge help! I really thought the video about what to pack in a diaper bag was helpful…it’s a simple thing that I hadn’t even thought of yet. Thanks WalMart!

    512. Lindsey Beckham says:

I am reading all these comments, and clicked on this particular ad because I am expecting my first child. Apparently there are a lot of things that everyone wishes they knew, I just pray I have the ability to get through each day with my child (a little girl, due in March!)… and as far as Walmart goes, I am going to watch these videos and hope to get something out of them, but most of all I am thankful that they are open 24 hrs in my area for those times I need to go out and get something whenever I get the chance! I suppose after about 3 more months I am going to have my hands full, and I can’t wait!!

    533. Tristansmommy120910 says:

I wish I’d of known more about the “risks” (that noone tells you about)of putting your baby on their back to sleep. My son at 4 months after 3 xrays 1 ct scan was diagnosed with plagiocephaly and torticollis. After 3 months fighting with insurance we finally had to pay for my sons cranial helmet oop (almost $3k) and 6 months of physical therapy he finally looks as close to normal as possible. To all parents if you notice your newborn favors laying/tilting their head to one side please don’t ignore this. Talk to your pedi. We didn’t even notice how mis shapen my sons face was until we held him in the mirror. All of this plus acid reflux and a very rare medical condition my son has and no doctors can even tell me about it because its so rare and a new finding. It’s been a very long hard journey. But I kept fighting. A Walmart gift card would mean soooo much to us.

I wish I would have known that the bottles with the drop in liners would save me so much time and hassle. I was so upset about the film that the breast milk and formula would leave on the other bottles. I was constantly scrubbing and boiling them. Still they never stayed clear always looked cloudy. Then we tried drop ins and it’s amazing!! It feels so much more sanitary. I know I will need to plant a forest worth of trees to offset my carbon footprint but I’d rather do that then watch my child drink from a bottle that just doesn’t set right with me.

    538. mammamia says:

To trust your gut.  You know better than anyone else what your baby needs.  I doubted myself many times with my first baby and of course the answer always turned out to be what my gut was telling me to do, but I was too scared to rely on it.  I hope I do better with the second.  (Due in June)

    594. RB says:

    633. Taniafish says:

The one thing I wish I would have know about babies is how slippery they are when wet. I remember my mother in law telling me that I was going to have to wash my son in the baby tub. I was terrified. He was so slippery and I thought I would loose my grip but I got through it and he came out squeeky clean. Like all things new it just takes a little getting used to. I have three nieces who are pregnant and expecting. There will be babies everywhere again. our kids will grow up together because I have had my kids late in life but I wouldn’t change it for anything. I love watching them grow and discovering new things everyday. They say the strangest things

Its always ok to ask for help.

    647. LC23 says:

I wish I had known to ignore the majority of advice people give you. everyone, I mean everyone has an opinion on kids. and I wish I had given more attention to my son’s napping. getting their sleep makes a big difference.

All the advice on the series is very helpful

    663. mommaofcrazypants says:

Each baby has been a totally new learning experience. They are so alike in many ways and so different in others. My daughter would eat anything and sleep right on through the night where my son does the exact opposite. Just roll with it, and enjoy it. They don’t come with user’s manuals, they are sweet little people with their own personalities and identities.

    664. Calmond5 says:

    665. Couponqueen8205 says:

I wish I would have known that you have to modify your sleep habits around a new baby for the first few months.  My son ended up training me very well.  Now that I’m a grandmother with twins grandsons, I can give better advise and help to my daughter-in-law, while my son is deployed overseas.  It’s true when they say two hands are better than one.  The better to rock those lil ones to cleep

    678. Anonymous says:

My mother was right. Do not baby talk. They are like sponges. You have an advantage when they are babies. You have a captive audience. Cleaning, shopping,or in the car. Sing, talk, abc, numbers and rhymes. You will be surprised at how soon they start singing or chiming in. Remember do not forget to share those coupons with a new mom and this site. She will learn about how to make her money stretch.

    679. Couponsforheather says:

How to put that child down and deal with a little crying to get them to transition to the crib vs Mommy’s arms.  I nursed and spent the first five months sleeping in a recliner with my child.  I hope I will not repeat that for the one on the way.

    680. AmyAck says:

I wish I would have known how much love a child brings into your heart….I would have had children earlier in life!  My daughter reminds me to slow down, enjoy the littlest things, laugh often, and be way less serious.
She’s taught me so much in her 3 years on earth about becoming a better person and becoming VERY patient / understanding about
life’s little obstacles that may come our way!   Life is short and fast…enjoy it!Baby #2 is on the way….looking forward to utilizing Walmart’s Baby Steps program as a reminder! :)

I wish I would have known that couponing for diapers was a great way to cut costs and signing up for free samples is a great way to get diapers as well.  I wish I would have known that babies are picky eaters and that it’s basically trial and error when it comes to feeding them.  I wish I would have known motherhood is so rewarding.

    688. Alex Porges says:

I really wish I had known how wonderful each day is with my beautiful girl! Before I thought it would just be all work. And yes, it is for sure, but she is really the sparkle in my eye! :-)

    689. Vlanning says:

I wish someone would have just said “it is okay for them to cry”.  I had twins and it took several weeks for me to not feel guilty if one was crying while I was trying to help the other one.  It is just their way to communicate.  Once I realized this – life was alot better.

    700. Cherpooh2 says:

Man, there are so many things that come up on a daily basis that I say, “no one told me about this.”  But, I would have to say the “one” thing would have to be that labor was not the hard part.  Breastfeeding was the hard part.  Everyone focuses on the labor when they are pregnant and you have the impression that breastfeeding is just this natural easy instinctive behavior. Then when it becomes hard, baby won’t latch, breast are sore, baby cry’s and turns its head, milk supply lessens you get frustrated because no one told you it would be hard.  So when it happens you think you are alone and can’t do it.  But you can!

I wish I would have known that EVERYONE would give me advice and tell me what I should or shouldn’t be doing!!  I quickly learned to just nod and let it go in one ear and out the other…so I wouldn’t hurt anyones feelings!!

    715. K2solo4 says:

I just had twins and I also have a 2 1/2 year old. I wish someone would have told me to wait and use my gift cards after the babies are born for all the unexpected things that a baby needs.

    716. Christy_hall55 says:

I wish I would have known when the 1st one came how important prayer and devotion time with them needed to be because when the 5th came it was a bigger job to tackle.

    717. Laurie says:

I wish I had realized that once your child is a little older, no one cares anymore about some things that were such a BIG deal. There is no place on a college application that asks how old you were when you switched from bottles to sippy cups, whether you wore cloth or disposable diapers, or when you were potty trained.

    718. Gina says:

I wish I had more been focused on what I would actually need for the baby instead of just how good the nursery looked.

    719. Simpsoncoupons says:

Spend more money on essentials rather than cute clothes!

    720. Happymomc says:

    723. Dianneluke87 says:

Breastfeeding is overrated and not for everyone.

    724. Jmefelix says:

I wish I hadnt spent so much time killing my self to try and get breastfeeding to work.  I should have enjoyed the first month more.

    725. April Lowery says:

i wish i had known how much diapers i would need!!!

    726. Siglinda Smoak says:

The one thing I wish I would have known about babies before my first was how important the first few years of life are. That every thing we do in their formative years affects the rest of their life  … from the food they eat to the clothes they were. We are shaping their personalities likes and dislikes from the moments they are born. The better we prepare ourself in turns prepares them for a better future. It is nice to see Wal-Mart cares for our future generation by providing a service like BABY STEPS. Bravo Wal-Mart … job well done :)

    727. Sdg032708 says:

That you are gonna mess up sometimes.  There is no need to sit and obsess over each incidence.

    728. Sunchic27 says:

Control, or loss thereof! That I wouldn’t have spent so much time worrying about controlling everything or having everything perfect, that the blessing of children is just that a blessing and to spend more time focusing on that and enjoying the moments that FLY past!

    729. Anonymous says:

This too shall pass!  (Which refers to the children growing up and also the LEGO’s they swallow)

    730. Jacqulineashley says:

That most of the time your mother is right about everything she tries to give you advice about! Sleep when the baby sleeps, don’t worry about not knowing “how to be a mother” it amazingly comes to you when your baby is born.

    731. S Martin297 says:

I wish I hadnt known what it was like to have 2 kids 14 months apart. I rather of gone into it blind!! I’m a single mom and before my 2nd child was born, Sept 19 2011, everyone would tell me what a hard time I have ahead of me. It really stressed me out… I already thought having ONE baby was hard as it is. I love both my chunkas without any regret. It’s hard work but it’s worth every minute of lost sleep, unshowered hair, stained shirts and bags under my eyes. Gods little blessings!

    732. Dlbandjeb says:

wish someone told me not to buy 20 packs of newborn diapers. They will outgrow them too quick.

    733. Amoritadyer says:

When  I was a first time mom I regret working so much I worked two jobs so i wouldn’t have to be on welfare. Just so my son could have everything he needed. I regret working so much that first year is so important they grow so fast and I missed majority of that working. It is best to be financially stable babies are expensive!

    734. AnointedSaver says:

I’d like to see one about babies and allergies.

to relax and enjoy every single minute!

    741. Rebekah F says:

    742. Susan says:

I wish I would have relaxed more and enjoyed my two boys when they were younger  They are now 9 and 5 years old.  They grow up so quickly!  Be sure to enjoy them!!!

    743. Elizabeth says:

      How much work babies require.

    744. Amandagracely says:

Snuggle your baby as much as you want becuase once they start crawling and walking…you miss it. You can NEVER cuddle you baby too much. I promise :)

    745. Randi Poole says:

I just wish I had known not to freak about everything right away….babies cry a lot, poop a lot, and (my boys) are always hot

    746. Rachel G. says:

To document everything! They grow up WAY to fast to remember the little things! =)

managing time, trying to have clean and take care of kids is a lot of work.
Just have to make sure to make time for the kids

    748. Michelle says:

      Sleep when your babies sleep.

    749. Tina Weaver says:

I wish I would have realized that every baby is special and different. You should not worry about how your new baby is progressing in comparison to your other children. My first son did everything earlier than my new baby, and sometimes I still find my self making comparisons and being worried about it.

    750. amckenz says:

Wish I’d known to try to keep them from crawling for as long as possible!!  haha ;)

    751. Mfshore81 says:

that just because they’re girls, doesn’t mean you don’t get peed on!

    752. Felicia Ramirez says:

I’m 41 now, I became a parent at 15. Up until a few years ago, I heard someone say “It takes a village to raise a child”.

Indeed, it’s very difficult to do alone. I quickly realized the importance of a strong support group of family and friends. Which in my case, there were little to none at that time (family moved away and friends were no longer to ‘be friends’).

No regrets. For we befriended the ULTIMATE friend, our Creator which by His grace got us through it all.

    753. Kendra says:

Don’t really need baby shoes if they can’t walk!

    754. Janice9 says:

I wish swaddlers had been available! I just COULD NOT swaddle properly with a blanket and my first baby had colic!! She cried for the first three months until she found her thumb! And yes, we tried pacifiers. We were also told to always put the baby on their stomach to sleep, which we now know is WRONG! (I’m sure you can guess that I am now a GRANDMOTHER!!)

    755. Mimilious says:

Relax…don’t worry about “what if” because your motherly instinct becomes apart of you forever, and you will know what to do with every situation.

    756. Mallory says:

Wish that someone would have told me that it was okay if I didn’t drop everything every single time that the baby made a little noise. :-) That it is okay to ask others for help too.

    757. momto2girlies says:

I wish I would have realized that is was okay to let my 1st babies cry.  I now have twins, and would never have any sanity if I picked them up every time they made a peep.

    761. Brandi3 says:

I was blessed with a baby boy on 10-10-11 he has grown so much since than, everyone says he looks like he is 6 or 7 months old. I have never thought that i would go through baby clothes like i am doing now. As i was growing up everyone told me to wait till your about 25 to have kids cause there so expesive and im only 19 now but with everything going up in price whats the difference from now and than? i had to grow up quick so i was ready to start a family, now people tell me i am a wonderful mother..It’s hard to just let him cry, thats there way of telling you something needs to be done and i sure do go get him right away..

    762. Heather says:

I wish I had know about colic.  My first born screamed and cried for the six months of her life.  When she started to be colicky I freaked out thinking that something was terribly wrong with her.  Nothing made her happy.  Now she is a very happy and healthy 5 year old.

    763. anita says:

I wish I would have let my 1st child cry it out instead of always tending to her right away.  she now is 5 and thinks someone has to watch her 24/7…

Don’t compare your child to the next. My daughter was born with Down syndrome, so it was even harder for me not to compare her to her “typical” peers, but one must remember that EVERYONE has strengths as well as weaknesses. One person may simply have more skills in certain areas than others, but this is what makes us all unique to begin with!

    770. Erinp500 says:

I wish that i would have used store brand diapers well before I did.  i would have saved a bundle.  We didn’t start using off brand diapers until my son was 2 and they worked just fine!

    805. Lauragay says:

I wish I had relaxed more with my first one…understanding I wasn’t going to “break” her if I didn’t do something exactly right.  I stressed out about EVERYTHING, which made her unsettled, which made me more stressed.  Vicious cycle!  No wonder the child never slept!
