Tips for Shopping on Black Friday

If you are headed out to brave the crowds in hunt of a good deal this Black Friday, here are some tips for a successful trip:

  • Be prepared for long lines and cold weather.  Dress accordingly!
  • Bring friends or family members to help you grab deals!  Go for the big deals yourself and have them grab smaller deals around the store.
  • Know your stores policies (coupons, layaways, returns, etc.)
  • If you don’t see a deal, ask an employee or keep searching through the store!
  • If you have a smartphone, use an app to scan barcodes and compare in-store deals with online prices!
  • Avoid impulse buys: Not everything advertised is a great deal.
  • Keep your receipts… just in case you change your mind!

Find the Best Deals

To find all the best deals this Black Friday, you can use our new Deal Search feature. Type in any item you want a deal on and this will show you all the best prices for things like TVs, Laptops, Cameras, and more.  You’ll have to make sure you enter a date for the search feature to work properly. I just used yesterday’s date 11/11/2012.

Here are some of the best deals that I’ve seen so far. You can find more using the Black Friday Search, with keywords like HDTV, Laptop, Blu-Ray, and Camera:

Best TV Deal
Best Buy – Toshiba 40″ Class LCD 1080p 60Hz HDTV, $179.99
Best Laptop Deal
Walmart – Compaq Presario Laptop 15.6″ 320GB, $179

Best Blu-Ray Player
Best Buy – Toshiba Smart Wi-Fi Ready Blu-ray Player, $39.99

Best Buy – Toshiba Smart Wi-Fi Ready Blu-ray Player, $39.99 is not a good deal. If it is Wi-Fi Ready then you have to buy an attachment to get wifi. It is called a Wi-Fi dongle and it costs $50.00 from the manufacturer.

      • Thank you for that, I won’t waste my time going to Best Buy now :)

    • Tyanne

Groupon has the nook color 7″ for $75 plus tax and shipping. Great deal, it’s regular double that.

Is the Target $40.00 gift card wyb an 16 GB 4th generation Ipod online also or just in store?

This is very helpful! Thank you for posting. Do you think you might also do a help feature for Cyber Monday? I am very interested in buying online, but not sure how to prepare for it. Thank you in advance!

      • I was going to ask the same question. I’m hoping to score an amazing deal on a tv and so far I haven’t seen “the one” yet. I’m hoping cyber monday will be the answer, but I wish I could see the sales ahead of time.

what does everyone think about battery powered vehicles no one has the good ones on sale the price right now for a fisher price dune racer is 229.99….should i buy it now or chance it later….If I buy with toys r us and price match I will get 22.99 back from the rewards card and then 30.00 in gift cards from their coupon for every 75.00 spent get 10.00 back……My question is since it would end up being 177.00 after deals, but I would have to wait for them and still have to buy more toys is it best to wait or take this deal….I dont really need any other kids christmas presents after this…so getting the reward isnt really needed I just want best deal…Thanks
