Looking for an easy dessert this Christmas season?  Apple pie is usually a favorite for folks, but our family is gluten-free, so I made an apple crisp a la mode using gluten-free flour.

See in-store for details. Offer valid 12/7/14-12/20/14.

Apple Crisp à la Mode

Apple Crisp à la Mode

Ingredients

    Breyer's Vanilla Ice Cream
  • Apples
  • 5-6 apples peeled, cored, sliced
  • 1/4 cup pecans
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • Topping
  • 1/3 cup flour
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 tbsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 6 tbsp cold butter, chopped
  • 1/4 cup coarsely chopped pecans
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats

Directions

  1. Mix all of the ingredients for the apples together in a bowl.
  2. Pour all of the ingredients for the topping in a bowl.
  3. Mix everything for the topping in a mixer. I mixed mine for 3 minutes until everything was sticking together.
  4. Put the apples first in you bake ware, then put the topping on.
  5. The topping doesn't look like it will cover well, but once it cooks, it spreads out some.
  6. For a thin layer of apples, cook on 375 for 35 minutes, or 1 hour if it's a thick layer.
