  • There are lots of ECB deals this week but very few that are free.  If you need any of these items, it is a good week to use some of CVS “money” to buy them.  Even if the price seems higher than you are used to paying, remember it is better to buy paper towels with pretend money then with real US currency.
  • I am starting with $10 ECB this week.

    (2) Revel Light Bulbs $3 ea

The Johnson rebate won’t work using the scenario above without adding a product from one of the other eligible brands eligible. It states one “..must purchase $30.00 worth of products from 2 or more of the following brands..” to qualify.

      Just a heads up.

      • Michelle Z

That is a good catch – so glad to read it before i go to Wags this weekend and get their bigi 50% off Aveeno – will have to add something else.

        • JenGC

          JenGC says:
          January 12, 2010 at 10:58 am

Yeah I didn’t see that until I just filled out the form. I came here to give a heads up but I see you got it first! Thanks for the warning. I was wanting some Lubraderm from the sale that was suppose to be 2/$5.98 or something like that (which I never found and I dont think Walgreens is doing) but I do have a $2 off coupons with the anticipation of that deal. So I will just get some for $4. It is worth the $10 rebate I guess :(

(I tried to post this under Michelle Z’s comment but it put it at the end. Sorry for the duplicate but wanted to put it in the right place)

    • Katee

      Can I use a B1G1 and a $2 mfc on the Oust????

      • Amy T.

I think you might be referring to the $2/2 printable. I don’t think you can use it with a B1G1 coupon. I may be wrong in the case of buying 4 and using 2 B1G1 coupons and one $@/2.

      • Stacey

You can use both the BOGO and $2off2 q if you purchase 3 cans. I did this transaction two days ago and it worked fine. I got $9 in ECB’s back for the 3 cans.

        • ET

I did the same thing, but it didn’t work for me. The coupon beeped and they didn’t override it.

        • Tabitha

You can buy 4 cans – use 2 B1G1 coupons and the one $2/2 coupons!

      • Jenny

You can, I just took the coupon off because the print limit was reached.

        • Sally

I don’t understand how you but these on the 8th when you say it starts on the 10th. What am I missing? Just trying to learn.

          • Sally

Oops twice. I meant buy not but and also I should have read further -seems they must have been on sale last week also. I’m learning.

    • Rachel

just a heads up about Oust – on the sticker placed directly on the bottle, it states “limit 3 per household” so you can buy 6, but you will only get ECB on 3 of them (totally $9). My cashier showed me, so I only purchased 2 (with the B1G1 coupon.

      • Luwina

Wasn’t that from this weeks ad? Maybe next week there is a different limit per card.

      • Jenny

At my CVS last week, the extra care bucks tag said limit of 3 per card. I bought four using the B1G1 coupons and got 12ECBs back. And at the bottom of my receipt, it said I could still get 2.

        • Dianne

I am really confused.I bought 6 cans of Oust, used 3 B1G1 coupons, and got 9 ECB. The receipt said I could do the deal one more time. I shopped at a CVS that I rarely use and it’s not close to my home. I went there because my CVS was out and I happened to be near this CVS. Is it worth going to my CVS and working this out? I would love to get my ECBs for four of the six cans I already bought.
          Thanks for any help!

          • Linda

There were two different types at my CVS, a taller, thinner can, and a shorter, fatter can (there was a difference, but I don’t remember what, I think one was a surface disinfectant). I was able to buy three of each, making the limit six, and I got $18 back in ECB’s. Hope that helps!

            • Michelle

I bought 6 cans too and only got $9.00 and when we were trying to figure out why we realized that the stickers that were on the cans that I bought say a limit of 3. So, my cashier was friendly enough to void three cans, give me the money back…which I then repurchased using my husbands card. :) Hope that helps.

      • Cynthia

I purchased 4 Ousts, using 2 BOGOF Q’s and only got $9 in ECB’s for them, so my store must limit it to 3. I still profited $1 on that, so I won’t complain. Plusith the $5 off $20 coupon, and purchasing the light bulb and Glade, I profited around $4. Has any of you been able to get more than $9 ecb on the Oust?

        • Heather

I bought 4 cans last week at my store in Madison, AL and got 12 ECBs. I did it in 2 transactions because I left one of my coupons at home but that shouldnt have mattered.

          • Heather

Not last week, this week. This week has felt long enough to be 2 though :)

            • Jill

Did you have the BOGO Oust Q? I live in West Central AL and I cannot find that coupon ANYWHERE. Actually, I cannot find the other Oust Q they keep talking about. I still have my 01/03/10 circulars but Q not in there

        • Becky

Glad to see I’m not the only one who got 9 ECB for 4 cans. I used 2 BOGO Q’s also. But the bottom of the receipt still said I had (1) limit left? When I asked the store about it they were clueless. I showed them I had bought 4 but it only gave me 9 ECB and not the 12 ECB. Anyone know why? I am pretty sure all CVS are consistent across the USA. So if people have bought 4 and are getting 12 ECB, why did I only get 9?

          • Linda

I left a post on the comment above yours…there were two different types of OUST at my store, and I was able to get three of each. HTH.

            • Cynthia

I got 3 of one and 1 of the other and only got 9 ECB’s. My receipt did not say limit reached, so I’m confused about it. I think different CVS’s are different.

          • AC

I bought 4 cans with 2 BOGO coupons and got 12 ECB’s…. at the bottome of my receipt I think it said I could still get 1 more… strange.

          • Courtney

the limits are all messed up, i think. my store told me the soyjoy was limit 3, but my receipt said i could get up to 6. however, when i bought 4 in one transaction, it only gave me EB’s for 3. weird. i returned the 4th box and am going to try to get it next week. i am thinking the limit is 3 per transaction? same with the oust. i bought 2 cans the first transaction, then 4 the second time. all my EB’s printed for a total of $18 EB.

        • Jennifer

I bought 4 (well, I bought 2 and used qs to get the other 2 free) last week and got back 12 ECB

      • debbie/So Florida

I also just purchased 6, used 3 BOGO coupons, and got only $9 ecb’s. I also made sure I bought the Oust Surface and Air – since the BOGO coupon is specific to that one. I think maybe the BOGO q tells the computer we’re only buying 3, instead of 6. So I will return them this week, and the mystery question for me is – what happens to the $9 ecb when I return them? I will bring the ECB receipt so I can give it back to them.

      • rydergal

The limit on Oust is 6 cans total (yes, the tags say 3, but you can get 6). However, sometime this week, CVS seems to have modified the deal a bit…you can still get 6, but you will only get ECB’s for 3 in any single transaction. So you will need to break them up into separate transactions to get full credit for all 6. HTH!

        • Ashley

That’s exactly what I was going to say. That’s how it worked with me. I got 3 on one day, and 3 on another day. Got all my ecb’s.

          • heather

I did 6 at once and got 18 in ecbs.

    • Hi Jenny~

I just bought a 2 pack of CVS pregnancy tests for $12.44, and got back $12.50 ECB. Thought I would share.

      • Chrissy

Heather, did the ECB state at the top of it that it was for buying the CVS pregnancy tests? (my ecb’s always have bold print at the top that says what you got it for). If so, that is awesome!

      • Virginia

Are you certain the $12.50 ecb was for the pregnancy tests, or could it have been your quarterly ECBs from the Fall quarter? (Is this the first time you’ve shopped since Jan. 1? B/c if so then that was probably your quarterly spending ecb.) I have not seen any mention of any deal that would make the CVS pregnancy tests free…

    • Stacey

Don’t forget there is an Axe printable for anyone planning on that deal.

      • Jenny

Thanks! I knew there was one out there and searched and searched for it!

        • Stacey

You’re welcome, after all, I just copied the link from your post on 12/30 titled Loreal, Bertolli, and other printable q’s.

    • Jessica

I am still new to the CVS shopping but have read past posts from all of you. Am I right that if you shop on Saturday you can get the deals for ECBs from the previous week and the new week? If so, is there a time that this starts? Thank you!!

Our CVS in Wetumpka doesn’t start until usually 8:00 pm & then sometimes the computer doesn’t automatically print the ECB so you have to make sure you get all the ones you should. If it doesn’t print they will manually print them for you.

      • Misty

You need to call your CVS. My CVS starts the sales Friday by noon. Each one is different and has a different “start” time.

      • Jessica

Thank you, I will make a couple of calls, I think I have about 10 CVS stores in my area..lol

      • kelli

My CVS starts the sale prices on Saturday by 6 pm but I’ve been told that they ECBs will not print for the next weeks sale. I’ve never tried it because of that.

    • Tonya

Are the bonus sales a month long special? For example, if I bought the oust this week will I be able to buy them again this week & get my ECB’s?

      • kelli

I’m pretty sure that the bonus sales are from 1/03 – 2/14. the limit is for the duration of the sale, not per week.

    • just a note that the cottonelle moist wipes have a limit of 3(stated on the sign in the store) not 1 and the cheezit snacks as well. thanks for all you do.

    • Sarah

Are there any $$/$$$ out right now? We’re almost out of toilet paper, and I just hate have a higher $ total and no $$/$$$ to use!

      • Michelle

Sarah, there’s a $5/$20 that Jenny posted on the current week’s list. It’s good through tomorrow night (1/9). I used that coupon and bought a pack of Cottonelle and three cans of Oust the other night. I used the .50¢ Cottonelle coupon, the B1G1 Oust, and the $2/2 Oust printable. I paid with $13 ECB and my total was .36¢ plus tax. I got back $13 ECB, so I paid less than $1 OOP for all of that!

        • Michelle

P.S. I’ve bought six cans of Oust total, and I’ve received all $18 ECB for them.

          • Dianne

Did you use the B1G1 coupons?

            • Michelle

I bought three cans in two separate transactions (total of six cans). In each transaction, I used a B1G1 and a $2/2 printable, and I got $9 ECB each time.

        • Sarah

        • kim

I just printed this and the expiration date is 1-16-10!

        • Michele

Can we use this in AL even though it is from CA?

          • kim

I used the previous one that exp.1-09-10 in AL.and it worked at CVS and Publix.

        • Jennifer

Thanks a bunch for the link!

      • Stacey

I believe the Medicare quiz is still good thru 01/15 for $5/30

    • Sharon

The Maxwell House coffee coupon isn’t there for me? How can I get it, I need coffee!

      • Cynthia

The Maxwell House coupon isn’t there for me either! Do we need to use a certain zip code in order to get it?

    • Carrie

The link to the rebate form also has as its offer of the day today (1/8/10) buy one blackhead eraser, get one free. http://print.coupons.com/couponweb/index.aspx?pid=13903&nid=10&zid=xh20&cid=0&bid=1018300001
Does anyone know if I can use the 5 off an eraser, a free refill coupon, and also a b1g1 eraser coupon all together if I have in my cart two erasers and a refill? Will that work?

      • Carrie

Oh sorry! I thought the coupon at the top was different than the ‘get a free refill’. Sorry to get anyone’s hopes up!

      • on the johnson rebate, you have to purchase at least 2 of the listed product to qualify for the $10 rebate. HTH

    • Susan

Thank goodness there doesn’t seem to be much I need to run out for this week–I need a break!

    • Julie

I agree with the posts above that the limits this month are definitely confusing. I purchased six 6-packs of SoyJoy bars in one transaction and only received $18 ECB. However, when I purchased six cans of Oust in two separate transactions, I received $9 ECB + $9 ECB. I am wondering if it makes a difference whether you purchase them in one or two transactions. From what I am reading above, those who purchased their items in two separate transactions are receiving ECB for all six. Just a thought.

      • DeeDee

I bought six, but did them in 6 different transactions. Got the ECBs every time.

        • Julie

Hmmm. I am definitely wondering if I should start separating my transactions instead of doing them in one huge transaction!

    • jennifer

I don’t do much CVS shopping, but I went in for some diapers earlier this week. I also needed to return/exchange some batteries that my father-in-law bought while he was here from MI over the holidays. I had the receipt. The cashier would not let me return them or even exchange them for the other products I was purchasing b/c they were on a credit card. Nor could she credit the $$ back to his card. So basically I have to mail them to MI and let him return them or let them collect dust in my kitchen drawer?!?! That does not make any sense! It is $14.99 of rechargeable batteries that we don’t need! Why can’t I just exchange them? Please tell me the cashier just didn’t know what she was talking about!

      • Beth

Take the batteries to Target if they carry them. I believe you can return up to $75 worth of merchandise without a receipt in a twelve month period.

      • Courtney

i would go back and try another cashier or speak to a manager. you have a receipt and a product that you don’t want. i don’t see why they can’t just give you cash back or store credit.

      • jennifer

thanks for the advice. it seemed ridiculous to me!

      • kelli

I would go try again, maybe a different cashier would give you a different answer, or ask for a manager. They should let you return them for store credit, especially if you have the receipt. If they won’t let you, just try to return it without a receipt, they should give you store credit that way too.

      • Erin b

I think in order to refund the card, they have to have the credit card in hand. However, I don’t see why you couldn’t exchange it for other merchandise of the same value.

    • Emily

Is it 3 or 6 for the limit of Soy Joy?

      • Julia

I was able to do 6 at my CVS.

      • Tabitha

The limit at my CVS was 5.

      • Josie

The limit at my store is three.

      • Erin

My limit was 6. I did two transactions on two different days.

      • DeeDee

My limit in sout FL is 6. I did mine in 6 different transactions. Very little OOP this way, just the little bit from #1.

      • kelli

The limit posted in my store was 3, but the actual limit was 6. I bought them 2 at a time because I read about some problems getting the ECBs to print if you bought more than 3 at a time. Also, I didn’t want more than 12 ECBs that I’d have to figure out how to spend later.

      • Liz

        Soy Joy problems-
I’m in Danville, Virginia and they are not on sale at my CVS. Are you buying a pack of six or six indiduals bars? We only have single bars at our CVS. Is there a monthly circular out for January??? My CVS said they only have the weekly ad.

Thanks for any comments on this problem!!

        • Angel in Charleston

It’s a box of 6, not individual bars.

        • kelli

in blacksburg, va they are for sale. boxes of 6, not individuals. one of the stores here has them out, the other doesn’t yet. maybe they’re saving them until they’re in the ad paper?

    • Stacey

Don’t forget that there is a new Reinventing Beauty magazine out with new coupons. I picked up 2 at my local CVS last week. I know there are Essence of Beauty q’s and some CVS brand skincare q’s which should pair up with this weeks sale. See post here for list of what’s included in this edition.

    • down load a rebate for $5.00 on 3 glade products at scjohnson.com/value

    • Julia

My CVS will not accept manufacturers with a Target logo on it. They say it is not really a manufacturer’s coupon. Is this correct? If not what should I say to them to try to get them to take it?

      • Cassia

They have the target logo and website printed on them, but NOTHING that says, “Redeemable at Target” or “Redeemable only at Target.” Therefore, for all I can see, they are still general manufacturer coupons.

      • ShelleySchu

I tried last week to use a Target coupon for Revlon matte eye makeup and they would not take it.

      • Marc

According to a manager friend of mine at Publix, they lose money with the Target logo ‘Manufacturer’ coupons. Yes, the manufacturer reimburses these, but only when they are used at Target.

        • I had this problem at my store in SC as well. The cashier didn’t notice or care till he attempted to scan it and it beeped (i’m assuming it didn’t work), then he said “oh, we can’t accept this. it is a target q”
Think the register wouldn’t accept it.

      • kelli

I never even try using coupons with different logos on them at the wrong store, even if it says manufacture’s coupon because I don’t want to cause problems. I know that they’re technically manufacture’s coupons and they tell the store how to get their money back but I don’t want to get on the bad list since most of the cashiers at the stores I shop at know me.

      • Tiffany

My CVS says the same thing. They had to override the system to give it to me, but said I could not do it again. They say Target made a deal with the company/product

    • Brianna

      got a question:

Are you allowed to use more than 1 Green Bag tag? If so, wouldn’t this deal, $1 ECB wyb (2) CVS Green Bag Tags or Reusable Shopping Bag at 99¢ Limit 1, be pointless? I would have to buy 2, $1.98 and I’d get $1 back, but i’d have an extra tag that I couldn’t use? So why not just buy 1 to use?

      please help me understand?

      • Susan

I wondered about that too! It makes me wonder if you can scan more than one Green Bag tag in one transaction. That would be nice, since sometimes it doesn’t all fit in one reusable bag, and you could add up more extra bucks.

      • Michelle

I’m wondering the same thing. I asked the manager at my CVS about it the other day because the bag tags are B1G1 free this week. She didn’t have an explanation for it.

Has anyone called corporate to ask about this?

      • Tabitha

The manager of my CVS has told me that they can only scan each TAG once a day…Maybe if you have two tags, you can scan each one once a day if you use multiple bags…I don’t know but I bet not since they are linked to your card.

        • Gina

When I do multiple tx at CVS, they scan my tag for each :)

        • Penelope

The tags are not tied to a card, because I use my one tag for all 3 of my cards. It will not scan more than once per day, though, the register beeps.

      • Marc

My guess it they are trying to encourage you to buy a Green Bag Tag AND a CVS reusable bag, not necessarily two Green Bag Tags.

        • Ashley

You would think so Marc, but I did recieve a B1G1 bag tag in the mail from the recyclebanks program.

      • kelli

I’m pretty sure that you can’t scan the tag more than once per transaction…. I mean, it’ll scan, but you won’t get extra credit for it. I think that they all have the same bar code on them, so the register wouldn’t know that it was 2 different ones.

      • Regina

I bought the two bags and two green bags today. The cashier scanned two coupons for 50 cents off and then I received the 1 EB.

      • lynn

i just purchased one bag tag and one green bag, since I didn’t have either, and I received the $1 ECB. So it doesn’t have to be 2 bag tags, you CAN do one of each. HTH :-)

    • Tabitha

Don’t know if anyone has posted this yet, but just to let you know, the link to the Target q for the GE lightbulbs takes you to a different set (new set) of Target coupons. The lightbulbs are not there anymore :(

      • Gina

Once you hit your individual print limit on Target q’s you will no longer see them…other people may still have them if they have not printed their limit

      • Tiffany

I just printed the GE bulb coupon out. Make sure you click on “household” on the left side of the screen or make sure “all coupons” is selected, otherwise you can’t see all of the coupons.

    • Ashley

AirWick Freshmatic and Lysol Neutra Air are on sale for $5.99. There’s a $4 coupon for each at homesolutionsnews.com.

      • That’s awesome and a 4.00 q for the lysol freshmatic. also on sale for 5.99. so excited about this deal! am going to donate some of them i suppose who needs 5 i already have one at the house! thanks for the heads up!

        • sorry i didnt see that you stated that the lysol q was there. don’t want to steal your thunder! lol

    • Ashley

Ahh, nice break from CVS for me! Get to save my ECB’s for 12 free 12 packs of Pepsi next week!

      • Natalie559

12 free 12 pks? My friend is a pepsi-holic and would love this deal. How will you accomplish it?

        • Rhonda

They have a superbowl promo starting Sunday Buy 6 12 pks for $20 get $10 ecb. You can mix and match tostidos and Lays chips too.

    • Sindy

Just a heads up on all those cvs and non cvs bonus packs, the manager at my store said that once they are sold they will not be replenishing them…………………..now for a promotion that lasts several weeks its seems odd that they wont be replenishing any of the items….. on that note I bought the Johnsons wash n lotion combos they only had 3 and I had several ecbs to use with a 5/20…

      • kelli

I heard the manager at my store mention something about not getting anymore Soy Joys. They only had 3 left on the shelf. It seemed weird to me too since the sales last until the middle of February.

    • mel

Will limits on bonus items reset Sunday 1-10-10? Just wondering…I’d love to get more Oust.

      • DeeDee

I never knew just how much better Oust was than Glade or Airwick until this week when I bought 3 because of the ECB deal!! I LOVE Oust now!!

        • Ashley

I agree. Oust is way better than Lysol Disinfectant. It’s so fun to find great products!

      • I don’t believe that the limits are reset. I think once you reach the limit you are done for the month. This question may be answered in the bonus deals section. I hope this helps.

    • I did the oust deal tonight and bought 4. Used 2 B1G1 and it only printed $9 in ECBs. I thought ok well the store might have it set to a limit of 3, but when looking on my receipt it says that I only have a quantity of 3 toward the reward and I have a quantity of 1 needed to earn the reward. Should I take my reciept back and get an additional $3 ECB? Thanks!

    • Jenny –

I noticed in the scenarios that you didn’t use the $5 off of $20 coupon. Don’t forget it if you go shopping tomorrow night. It expires 1/9.

    • Dana

what’s a valid zip code for the Nature’s Bounty printable?? I tried a few, but no luck. Thanks!

    • Laurie

OK, I am not having any luck getting a coupon from the Purex website. I even had one emailed to myself, and it just referred me to go back to the website. No specific place to click to get a coupon. Anyone else figure it out?

      • Laurie

OK, I figured it out. If your pop-up blocker is on, it won’t show up. I had to unblock pop-ups before I even did the coupon request. Even if I clicked “temp allow pop-ups” after the fact, it still wouldn’t show up. FYI.

    • Sarah

Anyone ever have trouble trying to use more separate ECB tickets (ex: $1.99 ECB, $3 ECB, S2 ECB) than items you’re purchasing? I haven’t been for a while, but I seem to remember one time that a cashier told me that she could only take the same number of ECB tickets as items.

      • You can use as many ECBs as you would like as long as it doesn’t exceed the subtotal. HTH! If a cashier says that, I would ask for the manager to clarify.

    • Has anyone tried the Soy Joy bars? I bought 4 boxes last night and tried the Berry and didn’t like them. Has anyone’s CVS had the Chocolate Chip ones. I wonder if they had them if I could swap mine out. Thanks!

      • Linda in Atlanta

        The mango coconut are good!

      • kelli

I’ve never seen chocolate chip ones in any store, not even in singles. My store had berry, strawberry, and mango coconut. I don’t like them but my fiance will eat anything, so whenever I can get free food, I do it. :)

    • I have a question.

Do some CVS stores allow you to use ECBs even for the tax? I used to be able to in Columbia and then all of the cashiers started saying that they could only be used on the subtotal. Last night I went to a CVS that I don’t usually shop at and my I had to get a candybar in order to not go in the negative after using my ECBs. I wasn’t sure if some stores allow you to use them on tax and others not. Or if the cashiers just didn’t know the policy. I don’t want to get them in trouble and use ECBs on tax when I shouldn’t be. Thanks for any clarification.

      • Josie

My local CVS will allow my ECBs to make my subtotal negative and cover some of the tax, but I always have a few cents left over to pay for with actual currancy.

        • Ok thank you! I just wanted to do the right thing. Most of the CVS’s in Columbia won’t allow you to use ECBs to pay for tax anymore, but this one did. Thanks

          • Rita

Please share which location in Columbia lets you used ecb toward some of the tax. The 3 stores in my area no longer do that and tax is eating me up lately. Thanks

            • Vanessa

I shop at the CVS on 321 beside Joanne’s fabric. That is the only one I know of that you can use ECBs for tax. The computer system is set up differently, so it allows for it…nothing the cashier does can change it. A lot of times I will have a negative balance and they just lower the ECB value a few cents and send me on my way.

            • I went to the CVS off of broad river in the food lion parking lot. I think it was just the cashier that let me, b/c I went back the next night and the guy cashier wouldn’t let my ECBs cover the tax so I had to get more items in order to use my large ECB. I’ll have to try the one on 321.

      • Virginia

At the stores in my area (NC and SC), normally the register will not accept an ECB for any amount greater than the subtotal before tax. HOWEVER the registers will continue to accept my manufacturer’s coupons (providing the correct items were purchased, of course) even if it takes the subtotal negative to help pay for tax. For this reason, I always use my ECBs and CVS coupons (i.e. CRTs) before my manufacturer’s coupons. Here is an example of a transaction that I did last week:
        1 GE lightbulg 2.99
        1 cottonelle 20-pack 12.88
        2 oust 3.99 each: 7.98
        2 schick disposable razor 1.29
        subtotal: 25.14
        – 5/20 printable
        new subtotal: 20.14
        + tax (7% SC tax) = 21.55
        – 16.00 ecbs
        – 3.99 (oust bogo)
        – 1.00 GE
        – 0.50 cottonelle

Total paid was $0.06. Subtotal before tax was -$1.35, tax added $1.41 and I paid $0.06 OOP. I could not have done this if I gave my ECBs last – I would have had to pay that extra $1.35 b/c the register would have prompted the cashier to adjust the ecbs down to only cover the subtotal if I’d given them last.

When I’m shopping this way, I ALWAYS do my math before I go. I know from experience that I don’t have to pay tax on actual CVS coupons like the 5/20, which is why I subtract that coupon before I figure in my tax. I also know that the register will normally not allow me to go into a negative subtotal if the coupon that would take me negative requires the cashier to enter it manually – such as BOGO coupons and the ‘up to’ meter coupons – so I use those types of coupons before my regular $$-off coupons. I do my math ahead of time to make sure that those types of coupons are not the ones that are going to take me into a negative subtotal, and if they ARE, then I tweak my scenario and add in another item that I can use a straight $$-off coupon for, such as the Johnson’s buddy bars for $1.39 which have a $1.00 coupon, b/c I know the register will take that $1.00 coupon w/ no issues. I’ve found that coupons coded 992 sometimes give issues b/c the cashiers have to enter them manually, so I also make sure that those particular coupons are not the ones that I need to take my subtotal negative.

        • Thank you so much for taking the time to let me know this! I guess I will have to try it this way next week. That’s awesome that you can do that. And I thought that I had the CVS thing down pat. You rock!

          • Virginia

You are very welcome, I hope it’s helpful for you. Just be aware that some stores/cashiers may not like it and might try to refuse your coupons if they see that the subtotal is going negative. Thankfully I have some friendly stores that will continue to take my coupons as long as they are appropriate, and if my math was wrong and my final total is negative they don’t mind if I have to pick up one of those little $0.33 caramels to get positive again. LOL

        • Ginger

Virginia, I also wanted to say thanks for the fabulous information/explanation. I also do my math before going, and had figured out that they don’t tax the 5 off 20s and such, but still I frequently get beeped and can’t figure out why. Your explanation is really clear. Thanks!

    • I signed up for CVS advisor a while back where you can take surveys for CVS and they will reward you with ECBs. I got my first survey today and qualified and I will be receiving a $5 ECB for about 5 minutes of my time. Even if you don’t qualify for the survey after answering a few questions, you still get a $2 ECB. The link is http://www.cvsadvisor.com

      • shannon

I got the same email. I am so excited for free ECBs.

      • Sue

I took a survey last week and got 5 ECBs. It’s great. But I thought that I would take the coupon to the store and they would scan it and an ecb would print. Instead, when I presented it to my cashier after my mdse was rung up, it used the coupon as an ecb, taking $5 off my total.

      • lynn

I just signed up. Thanks for the Heads Up! I’m sOOO excited about free ECB’s!!!!!!!

    • Jessica

Jenny, my cvs has cottonelle as well as charmin 20 pks on sale with ecbs back- it say the limit is 3, but i bought 4 packs of chramin and the ecbs still printed

    • Dana

Anybody else having trouble with the clean and clear website? It just keeps putting me through a loop to get the 5.00 off coupon.. Help?

      • shannon

Yes I think the website is having a problem. We are probably all on it at once and crashed the site :) ARGH!

      • Ginger

Anybody had any luck with this? All I get is Can’t Display Webpage. I can’t even get on the Clean & Clear site. Anyone have any ideas?

    • The $5/$25 now expires on the 16th!!!!! Its posted in the bonus deals cvs post

    • Amy

I can’t seem to find the Almay coupon. Is anyone else having this problem?

    • Quen

      $4 ECB wyb (2) Slim-Fast Snack bars 5-6 ct Limit 1

      $1.25/1 Slimfast product

    • Michelle

I bought about $70 in products and spent 2.11 out of pocket and ended up with $24.00 in ECB’s on my card and then got $15.00 worth of stuff for $10.00 on my hubby’s card (he didn’t have any ECB’s to start with) but ended up with $10.00 in ECB’s. All in all…a very good trip to CVS.

Here is a list of items purchased for the total combined 12.11 OOP. :)
3 bottles of Purex Ultra (bonus sized bottles too!!)
6 cans of Oust (3 max per each card)
2 candles (one per each card)
      nivea body wash
      2 nivea lip care
      4 thermacare from previous rainchecks
      2 4packs of GE lightbulbs
      1 GE Flourescent bulb

      Thanks Jenny!!

      • Can you inform me on the deal for the candles? Thanks!

    • My CVS in Columbia had a bunch of the Russell Stovers Private Reserve Chocolate that comes in a bag and is individually wrapped on sale for $1. I wonder if you could use the $1 coupons for Private Reserve Chocolate. Although I think the coupons are for the boxed chocolate.

    • Kim

I went to CVS.com and signed up for their online prescription account (not that I use it but I was just interested in looking at it) and I linked my Extra Care card to it. It then told me to check my Extra Care account and I had an addition 50 cents in ECB’s to print! 50 cents isn’t much to write about, but it was free…so I’ll use it tomorrow! Also, do a google search for a $5/20 CVS coupon…there is one out for CA and if you print it I believe you can use it anywhere in the USA!!! I’m going to try tomorrow!

    • Tina

I am trying to find the form for the J&J rebate, but the links posted are not working for me. Where else could I get one?

The form will also be in tomorrow coupon-inserts (Sunday, 1/10), along with some helpful coupons that will match up with the rebate offer. :)

    • Foxfunds

To those that mentioned the 75% off of cosmetics – THANK YOU!! I made my CVS run today – I love being able to shop on Saturday afternoon. I came home with $300+ worth of stuff – after the sales, clearance, coupons, ECB’s – I spent $20 OOP. And still have $13 ECB to spend next week. I think somewhere along the line my train of thought derailed and I probably could have stretched my ECB’s to the very end – but by the end my brain was just done. The ladies behind the counter just shook their heads in disbelief…LOL, I could hardly believe it myself. This time last year, I would have thought Jenny was nuts – but after experiencing the past 6 months living the couponer’s life – it really works! Thank you, Jenny, for all of you hard work and endless tips to make those ends meet.

    • Kristin

My CVS still had a limit of 3 on the Oust deal; is it printed anywhere officially from CVS that the limit is actually 6? If so, I’m going to take that back and get my $3 ECBs!

      • Virginia

No, the ‘official’ limit is 3 so that is all that most stores will honor since you cannot prove that the ‘real’ limit is 6. If you have only purchased 3 and want to purchase 3 more, go ahead and do it, the register should print your ecbs. If you purhcased 6 already all at one time and did not get the ecbs for 3 of them, try to do a return and rebuy, and your ecbs for the other 3 should print. Something about the ‘official’ limit being 3 is limiting the amount of ecbs that will print in 1 transaction to the actual limit, but you can still get the limit of 6 if you split the transactions.

    • Toni

Jenny, Please explain! How are people buying things (Oust)on the 8th when the ad starts on the 10th. I went to three CVS this morning when they open and they were all out so my shopping experience was a bust. I am new to this so am I missing something? PLEASE HELP!

      • Sue

The Oust is one of the Bonus Deals that started on 1/3 and go through 2/14.

        • Toni

Thanks — That does make sense!

    • Susie

I have a green bag tag that I have not used yet, because I thought you had to actually use a reusable bag. Is this true or can I just have the cashier scan the card with no bag? It would be a good week to get the bag otherwise! Thanks.

      • kelli

you can use any reusable bag. it doesn’t have to be a cvs bag, it doesn’t even have to be a shopping bag… when I have a small purchase, I just have them scan my tag and I put my stuff in my purse.

    • kelli

I had a great trip this morning. I bought a bunch of Christmas clearance (90%), Soy Joy bars, Nature’s Bounty. I spent $12 ECBs and 77 cents in tax and got back $15 ECBs! I saved $85.03!!!

Now I’ve gotta figure out Rite Aid for this week. :)

    • Anna

Never again will I ever go shopping at CVS on Saturday night! I went last night when the current sale should’ve still been going on, but they had already gotten everything ready for the sale starting the next day — so it was practically impossible to find anything that was supposed to still be on sale and match it up with my list and my flyer and my coupons. Very confusing and time consuming. Next time I’ll definitely go earlier in the week!

    • Monette

$6.00 off of Osteo Bi-Flex In Redplum 1/10/2010. It is buy one, get one free at CVS plus $3.00 Extra bucks reward when you buy 2. Enjoy!

    • Gina

I have a question. Do the twin pack items count as one item or two? Can you use two manu. q’s on the packaged items? For example, can I purchase the Edge shave gel twin pack and use two of the 75 cent coupons since it is two items?

      • Sue

I asked at my CVS and they said that it scans as one item. So you can only use one coupon.

        • Kathryn

Same here. The cashier at my CVS said since there is only one barcode on the 2 pack items, they can only accept one coupon and it can’t be a coupon for an amount off on two, like the $2.00 on two Ritz coupon. That makes those snack items not such a good deal. I think I’m better off at the grocery stores for those items.

    • Brooke

Question about the Clean and Clear Deal…why wouldn’t the Black Head Eraser Refill ring up half price? It is less than the Black Head Eraser kit, so wouldn’t it ring up half price. Then wouldn’t you pay full price for one spot treatment and half price for the second one? If the Black Head Eraser rings up half price, then will the free coupon only take off 3.49? Do we need to be sure to hand the items to the cashier in a particular order?

      • mel

Good question Brooke…I was wondered about that also. Hope someone will have an answer to this question before I try the deal.

      • suemac in G’ville, FL)

I was expecting the deal to work like Jenny listed it, but it didn’t for me. I bought the eraser, refill and 2 cleansers. The system seemed to do the 50% discount based on the order the cashier scanned the items, not the relative prices. So, before coupons, I paid for the eraser, got the refill 50% off, paid for one cleanser, got the second 50% off. My brain was somewhat frozen (early morning and we Floridians aren’t used to this COLD weather!) and I made it down the road before I double-checked my receipt. The cashier had missed the free refill coupon – oops. Looking over the transaction, my questions were – since I only paid half price for the refill, would I get the full price back for it or only what I paid? I stopped back by later to correct the problem and the cashier wasn’t sure what to do either! She decided just to give me the full price for the refill back, so my transaction was actually better by $1.

    • JEB

I want to buy and have $2 ECB to start with

If I buy 2 Oust at $3.99 each with BOGO coupon
      2 Pantene at $3.49 ea. with $3/2 Q
      2 MAxwell House at BOGO $4.99 with $1/2 Q

would I be better off doing 3 separate transactions and using ECB from each previous transaction to help pay for the next? If i figure right, the OOP will be $5…

BUT I have a $5 off $20 coupon, SO… am I better off to do all that in one transaction and use the $5 off $20, plus my $2 ECB and all those qs…CAn I do that??? Think my OOP will still be $5, but I will have earned $5 ECB…to break even???

      • If you break it up and buy 2 oust, then get $6 ECBs, you could use them for the next purchase of your last two items. I’m not sure how many ECBs you get with the other items. It looks like you could pay $1 less OOP but then only have the whatever ECBs you would get with the pantene or maxwell house left. I hope this helps. I’m super tired so it might not make sense.

      • Sue

I think that you would be better to buy it all in one transaction. You will spend about $5 oop but you should end up with $8 ecbs, which will make it a $1 money maker. However, you may need a small filler, as your before tax total will be just 19.95. The 2nd MH will ring up 0.

        • JEB

I tried to do all in one transaction, but of course,, were out of Oust…so did not get to use the $5 off $20…Guess I should have gone and gotten $5 more worth of stuff and then used, since that was what I was short…The coffee only counted once, since it was BOGO…

Now I am thinking this…if it will work…Go back and get 4 Oust. I have 2 BOGO coupons. Then buy 2 Maxwell House again…I have $2 ECB to start with.

          Oust $3.99 x 4 = $ 15.96
use 2 BOGO coupons for Oust
Maxwell House $4.89, plus one free $0

That should get me to be able to use the $5 off $20, shouldn’t it?? That would be $5.87 OOP. Then use $12 ECB I earn to buy Cottonelle and earn $4 ECB.

          • Sue

Some people have said that they were only able to get ECBs for 3 Oust per transaction. It would work to use the 5 off 20, I just don’t know if you would get 9 or 12 ecbs.

    • Holly

I am new this coupon thing and cvs thing. I thinks its really fun. I did the soy joys last week. Got 6 boxes free. Ended up with 6ecb in the end. I wanted to go back this weeks and figure out another deal but I’m having trouble. I am starting with 6 ECB and 2 Bogo Oust coupons, I also have 2x 1.50 of GE light bulbs coupons )I have a few other coupons too (started cutting Jan 1st.) Can anyone help me figure out a good deal with out paying a lot of out of pocket money. Thanks. Last week I tried to do Walgreens RR and I got really confused.

      • Crystal

        Walgreens RR are very confusing.

    • Nay

This may seem like a silly question Can I use two coupon’s for a 2/pack special?

      • Sue

        My CVS said no

    • Cassia
      • Linda in Atlanta

        Thank you for posting this!

      • corinne

Can I use the $5/$20 coupon more than once?

        • Ashley

Yes, you can as long as they are in separate transactions. So if you have 40 dollars worth of stuff before coupons, split it into two, use the 5 off 20 FIRST then use your other coupons. On really big weeks, I have used quite a few!

    • Denise

Jenny-Thanks for all your hard work! FYI I just came from CVS and they have lots of makeup with stickers for 75% off with signs advertising it. I got lots of Almay really cheap! Just something to look out for! Thanks again!

      • Sue

Do you know if you can buy clearance-priced items for the ECB deal?

        • Sue

I am talking about the Buy $10/Get $3.

        • lynn

I bought a little over $10 of Loreal makeup tonight, hoping to get the $3 ECB, but it didn’t print. The ad says priced $4.99 and up. So, it looks like it doesn’t work for clearance.

    • Sara

Can MANF. coupons that have the target label be accepted at CVS. I shop at the CVS’s in Lexington. Any know? Thanks!

      • Natalie559

I used the GE lightbulb one printed from target last week Tally FL, no beeps and no problems

      • Ashley

Lexington CVS by Home Depot takes it with no problems. You can also use competitor coupons (Walgreens and Riteaid) only at that location. I used the 3 off 10 we got in the paper for the new Walgreens and also some Riteaid coupons for the Loreal clearance makeup and there is also a Revlon coupon in the Walgreens January booklet I used on clearance makeup. Yesterday I got four different Loreal cosmetics, used four 2 dollar offs (I think they are on coupons.com) and the three off ten and got it all for free!!

      • Theresa

        Hey Sara… I’m a Lexington shopper too.

    • JenGC

Yeah I didn’t see that until I just filled out the form. I came here to give a heads up but I see you got it first! Thanks for the warning. I was wanting some Lubraderm from the sale that was suppose to be 2/$5.98 or something like that (which I never found and I dont think Walgreens is doing) but I do have a $2 off coupons with the anticipation of that deal. So I will just get some for $4. It is worth the $10 rebate I guess :(

    • Christi

Has anyone had this happen to them?

I went earlier in the week and noticed lots of makeup was 50-75% off… Armed with my coupons, i returned today, anticipating great deals. There was a sale going on – spend $10 on any Loreal products, and get 3ECB back… I purchased $12 worth of Loreal product… and then used $6 worth of coupons on it – all $1 off coupons. The register didn’t print my ECB… I asked about it, and they gave them to me, but said that I shouldn’t get the ECB because i’d used Loreal specific coupons?? I was totally confused… So, they’re saying next time i wouldn’t get the ECB if i use brand specific coupons?

Anybody have any ideas on this? It doesn’t make sense to me…

      • Ashley

I was told that the clearnace makeup didn’t count towards the total, just like it didn’t count last week for buy one get one 50% off. Maybe that’s where it messed up?

      • Virginia

Clearance items generally do not work for ECB deals when the deal requires you to buy a certain $$ amount in order to get the ECB. *Sometimes* they work when the deal is to buy a particular item and get the ECB, if a qualifying item just happens to be on sale. Apparently they forgot to put that in the ad (‘excludes clearance items’) so you could technically ask the cashier/manager to manually print you the $3 ECB, since you thought you were doing the deal as allowed by the ad. Some will be friendly and go ahead and do it for you, others will give you a hard time b/c the items were clearanced, even though you got the required $$ amount. Alternatively, you could also either call or email Customer Service, explain your situation and ask that they remedy the situation since the ad did not exclude clearance items.

        • Virginia

P.S. It has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH YOUR COUPONS – they just made that up on the spot b/c they couldn’t think of a good reason why it wouldn’t work. COUPONS WILL NEVER CANCEL OUT YOUR ECB DEALS. Any cashier/manager who tries to tell you that they will is either completely unfamiliar with the system or is outright lying to you. You can even look in many ads and point out extrabucks deals where right there with the deal it clearly says ‘look for coupons in most sunday papers’ – if CVS corporate wanted coupons to cancel out the deal, that thing would say something more like ‘look for coupons, but if you use them you’re not going to get your extrabucks’. LOL

    • Shannon

I have a question on the $10 rebate for the Lubriderm, I purchased Lubriderm at CVS today and it was on sale for $5.49. On the receipt it shows the $5.49 and beside it it says saved $2.00. Can I still use the original amount of $7.49 for my rebate or do I have to use the $5.49 which is what it says. Any help would be appreciated.

      • kelli

I would assume that they will go by what you paid.

    • corinne

Today I bought 4 boxes and Soy Joy and only 18ECB printed on my receipt.I previously bought 2, and in Fl the limit is 6 so it doesn’t make sense. Also , on my receipt it shows that I can still purchase once more box, which is not true, since I got all six!!..I went back to CVS and they told me to call the number on the back of my card.Did anybody else had this problem?

      • kelli

I’ve read on other websites that you an’y buy more than 3 boxes at a time to get the ECBs. Th reason you receipt is still showing that you can buy 1 more is that you only got the ECBs for 5 of them. I would suggest returning one of the boxes that you bought and rebuying it, you ECBs should print if you do that.

    • JEB

I am still learning how CVs and Walgreens work. I get nervous at the check out and probably could do better than I am, but they are always out of something on my plan list to buy…I feel comfortable with Bilo,Publix, and Rite Aid. My Rite Aid is great. They are nice and even will do rainchecks not only on the sale item if out, but will do rainchecks on the Easy check Rebate, if the item is not in stock until after the promotion….

Walgreens will not do rainchecks on the RR, just the sale price, correct? What about CVS? Will they do rainchecks on the ECB, in addition to the sale price, like Rite Aid will?

      • Nancy

i’m outside charlotte, and my walgreens gave me a raincheck price that was equal to the sale price minus the rr money.

      • Ashley

They will give you the raincheck for the whole deal. I get rainchecks quite often and it’s sometimes nice to work in with next weeks deal. Sometimes I have to wait two weeks for the product to come back in, but with the raincheck it works just like I did it the right week. One quick note about it, make sure that the cashier prints your ECB. It won’t automatically print when they adjust it to the sale price. They have to go back, scan your reciept and then print it. I have had one only forget once, but I caught it and we printed it with no problems :)

    • kelli

I had a great trip today. I went in looking for the Nature’s Bounty multi vitamins but my store didn’t have them… I didn’t really have a back up plan but I figure it out.

      I bought:
      $1.51 worth of Christmas clearance
      1 Crave-NX = $7.99
2 Lubriderm Intense Skin Repair Ointment = $3.99 each
      1 Aveno lotion = $3.49
      – $5/$20
      – (2) $2 off Lubriderm
      – $2 off Aveeno
      – $9.97 ECBs

I spent 74¢ oop and got back $8 ECBs

I also have $11.47 towards the spent $30, get $10 rebate.

      • Theresa

        Awesome Job!!!

    • The green bags have .50 coupons inside!

      • Virginia

That coupon is for paper products, not the green bag itself.

    • Kate

anyone else having trouble printing the Benefiber Q?

    • Abbey

I tried to use my $1.50 off Reveal lightbulb coupons (with Target logo on then) at my CVS today and he (the mananger) said they can’t take those. I thought he could since it had “manu. coupon” printed on the top. . .who’s right? I live in the metro Atlanta area.

    • JEB

Is this the only week for the MAxwell House BOGO? Or is it a month long deal?

    • Rachel

$3 ECB wyb Nature Valley Granola bars 2-pk 17.8 oz at $6.99 Limit 1
-.40/1 Nature Valley Bars printable or printable
      -$1/2 Nature Valley Bars printable

I have a question about an item like this one. Bare with me, I am VERY new at this and I am trying to plan my 1st trip to CVS! :)

the top line says limit 1…does that mean I can only buy 1 box to get the $3 ECB? What about the -$1/2 printable coupon? Will I not be the ECB if I use it?

      • Ashley

The 2pk 17.8 oz is the only one that will print out ECB. And, yes you can only get the ECB one time per card. If you have a friend, family etc who would let you use their card, you could do it again.

You would usually want to use the .40/1 Q because if you use $1/2 Q, you would be spending more money and not saving money. It would be $6.99 + $6.99 – $1 = $13.97 Out Of Pocket.

ECB’s will always print out when you use coupons.

Hope that answers what you were asking!

    • Quen

Anyone use the $5/20 today without any beeps?

    • Marion

So I went to buy the Ousts and Glades today, and it looks like my store pulled those so I couldn’t get the ECBs. I looked at the flier in store and those weren’t advertised in that one, so nothing I could really do about it.

Also, just a heads up, the CVS by me in Hermitage has a ton of the Loreal makeup on sale 75% off, and they let you use the $2 and $3 off coupons and get the ECBs back too. I totally stocked up.

    • I just got a $5 off $30 coupon sent to my e-mail. It expires 1/18/10.

    • Cathy

The CVS in Boiling Springs, SC had a lot of make-up marked down for clearance (50-75% off). I don’t know about the other stores. The clearance items were marked with big colorful signs. I was able to get an $8 Revlon item for .49 when I used my $2 off Revlon makeup coupon.

    • keb2009

so is it true that everyone that slapped down the $16 for the J&J deal won’t get the $10 MIR becuase it has to be $30 after coupons?

    • Sunny

I’m such a dork. I went to CVS before lunch and got Loreal makeup 75% off and used coupons and they only totaled $9.40. Of course, no $3 ECB. So after lunch, I went back and the lady let me return everything and then repurchase… I added a 75% off lipgloss and used the $2 coupon and ended up at $9.74! AH, I am such a dork! She was not enthusiastic about helping me, helping people at other registers twice while dealing with me (with no excuse me or anything).
Should I just suck it up or should I go back? (to another CVS, not that one!)

      • Sunny

Oh, and I let $2.99 ECB expire yesterday!

        • Carolin

That has happened to be before. I’m friends with one of the cashiers and she just pushed it through. Another time that happend (friend was on vacation) I called the cvs 1-800 number and since I hadn’t called before they sent me a $5ecb(printed out at the card scanner).HTH

    • Saeweard

I was wondering if anyone knows where I can get another $5 off $ 20 coupon….I see a link on last weeks ad but the link does not show the coupon?

      • Virginia

The coupon has been removed from the newspaper website. Sorry.
