Summer is here, which for me means I want easy, no-thinking-required meals that take almost no time to put together. It’s a bonus if I don’t have to slave over the stove or have the oven on all day! These easy meatball subs meet that description, and my kids love them. Another bonus is that there are only 4 ingredients!

To make these for a crowd, I like to cook the meatballs in the slow cooker, then set up a bunch of the buns on a baking sheet with the meatballs and cheese. Then I pop the pan under the broiler for a minute or two so the cheese starts to get all melty.

Serve these with a vegetable side, chips, tater tots, and/or some fruit.

Easy Meatball Subs

Ingredients

  • 24 frozen meatballs
  • 1.5 cups pasta sauce
  • 1.5 cups mozzarella cheese
  • 6 hot dog buns

Directions

  1. Put the meatballs in a small slow cooker and cover with the pasta sauce. Cook on low for 3-4 hours.
  2. When you're ready to eat, preheat the broiler on the oven. Place the hot dog buns on a cookie sheet.
  3. Put 4 meatballs in each hot dog bun and sprinkle each with 1/4 cup mozzarella cheese.
  4. Heat under the broiler until cheese is melted.
